Mulberry, the only food plant of silkworm, Bombyx mori, is also attacked by a large number of insect pests during cultivation. The important pests are Bihar hairy caterpillar, thrips, Mealy bugs, Scale insects, Leaf roller. The pests cause reduction in leaf yield about 10-20%. Several control measures (mechanical, physical, cultural, biological) are recommended to reduce the losses caused by pests.
Mulberry plant grows as a perennial tree is attacked by pests which cause damage to the mulberry yield by attacking different parts of the plant. In this Slide Share the different symptoms and control measures to be taken when mulberry plants are attacked by pest is dealt
Mulberry is a perennial , depending upon the type of cultivation it’s efficiency and utility, the success of sericulture depends. Hence through this SlideShare the morphology of the plant is studied.
Mineral are required in small quantity For effective biological functions, whose deficiencies causes roof problems, hence understand of their importance for mulberry plant’s is necessary
Soil fertility depends upon the manures which are applied in bulk. They not only improve the fertility but also the physical properties of the soil, subsequently the quantity and quality of the plant being grown.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Introduction of water management and irrigation
● As the agricultural is the major area & water consumption in our country
● The focus is only on agricultural. even if 10% of water is saved 14mha will
benefit additionally existence of Wast scope for saving water in irrigation.
● Recycling of water for domestic used and awareness among the people on
water conservation are the key for water management
3. Water requirement for Mulberry
● The requirement of water for Mulberry is at a
rainfall of 600-2500mm.an average of 50mm
once in 10 days of rainfall is considered as ideal
for Mulberry
● In South India(Karnataka) the rainfall is hardly
600 mm per annum and this range is not
distributed evenly in all the areas hence the
Mulberry growth suffering a lot for soil moisture
therefore supplementary irrigation is needed for
better growth where the Mulberry crop is red
under the monsoon rains.
4. ● One more important factor is to avoid axis
irrigation of water, access irrigation not only
leads to wastage but also leads to water logging
and salt deposition Mulberry crop should be
allowed extract more than 6 to 700% of available
water from soil for better foliage and regulated
plant growth.
5. Frequency of irrigation
● Frequency of irrigation depends upon many
factors agro- climatic conditions, growth phase
of plant, soil type etc
● In India it varis from place to. For clay loam soils
15 days once and Sandy soils 8 to 10 days.
● During November to April, 12 to 15 irrigations are
required to supplementary the water scarcity in
tropics. Mulberry grows throughout the year in
India. Therefore, during drought period
supplementry irrigation.
6. It's resources
● Mulberry requires about 1.5 to 2.0 acre water per
irrigation at an inter interval of 6 to 12 days
depending upon the type of soil and seasons.
● About 8 number of irrigation is required for crop
of 65 to 70 days duration to achieve the
maximum leaffield.
7. Sources of water for irrigation
● There are five sources of water for irrigation are
there. They are,
1. Open well
2. Tubewell
3. Canals
4. River of tanks
5. Rainfall
8. 1. Open well
An open well is Line or unline hole in the
ground that access the shallowest
groundwater available in the local area. Open
type kalli get water from the “unconfined
shallow aquifers”.i.e, water bearing soil or
roak layers at shallow depths, that is not under
only pressure
9. 2.Tube well
A tubewell is a type of water well in which a
long100 -200 mm (3.9-7.9)in wide. Stainless
Steel tube or pipe is bored underground. the
lower end is fitted with a strainer and a pump
lifts water for irrigation. The required death of
the the well depends on the depth of the water
table.
10. 3.canals
A canal system generally includes several
components designed to control water flow.
The includes, water channels (main
channels,feeder channels)locks(intakes and
outlets,chambers) control structures (wires
dams)
11. 4.River or Tanks
The river tank requires very little
maintenance due to its ecologically balance
design. its continuously flowing water
provides and oxygen rich
12. 5.Rainfall
Rainfall is the primary source of water for
irrigation it is not available throughout the
year.
The stored rainwater either in tank or in
sub-surface is used as resource of irrigation
water for an indefinite period.
Though, water he is available in various
places and becomes the source of irrigation. it
involves expenditure and is complex.
13. Methods of irrigation
There are five types of irrigation methods are
there.they are,
1. Basin method
2. Flat bed method
3. Furrow method
4. Sprinkler method
5. Micro method
Broadly daibo indicated methods of irrigation are
mostly practiced besides the different methods of
irrigation.
14. 1.Besin method
It is particularly adopted for three plantation. In this system
of irrigation water from supply source is allowed to flow into
the basin around the trunk. The diameter of basin various
according to the size of age of the tree (1.0-1.5)
Advantages
a. Evaporation loss is less
b. Soil is not eroded
C. Water is not wasted
Disadvantages
• Laboures
• costly
15. 2.Flat bed method
In this method the field is divided into
rectangular beds with birds fall around and
channels on the sides (3.5-2.0mm or
4.0-6.0mm)
Advantages
a.suitable for all types of soils
b. No soil erosion
c. Relatively economic in water usage
d. Low wastage of water due to runoff
e. Irrigation is quick a more laborious
f. Involves more waste is of space
16. 3. Furrow method
In this method the field is laid into a series of ridges of
furrous as in a row system the water flows through
furrows and the ridges are motioned by capillary
movement of water
Advantages
a.more efficient form economic point of view
b.suitable for wider and closer spacing plantation.
c.loss evaporation of water from soil surface
d. Ridges carry the system hence sufficient air is
available for the roots to develop
17. 4. Sprinkler method
Sprinkler/spray irrigation is the method of applying
water to a control manner in that it is similar to
rainfall.
Advantages
a. Less water usage
b.most efficiently water can be used
C. Uniform distribution of water in the field.
d. It can be followed in slappy and shallow lands.
Disadvantages
a. High cost
b. Technical knowledge required
C. Labourers
18. 5. Drip irrigation
The system of irrigation water is supplied
directly to the road zone through pipelines
directly from the source. Water is discharged
road nozzles at the rate of 4-61 l per hour.
Advantages
a.Usual to the areas where there is scarcity of
water.
b. Can save labour
c. No loss of fertilizers or organic manures
Disadvantages
a. Installation cost in higher
b.Inferior quality nozzles step up with dust and
salt deposits
19. Quality
● On average Mulberry required 340m/ha of water
every 10 days in case of loamy soils and 15 days in
clayey soils
● Atmospheric humidity in the range of 65 to 80% in
ideal for Mulberry growth.
● Sunshine is one of the important factors
controlling the plant growth and Mulberry leaf
quality
● Water quality management consists of an ongoing
cycle aim at improving and maintaining optimal
water quality for a specific water body.
20. Schedule of irrigation
● Irrigation scheduling involves deciding when and how much water is to be
applied to the field.
● Good scheduling will apply water is required quantity at right time in order to
optimise production and minimise adverse environmental impacts.
● Irrigation scheduling is one of the factors that influence the organic and
economic variability of the small farms which is important for both water
savings and improving crop yields.
● The irrigation water is applied to the cultivation according to the predrmind
schedules
● The soil water status
● The crop water requirements
● The type of soil and climatic conditions have a significant effect on the main
practical assets of irrigation. Which are the determination of how much water
should be applied and when it should be applied to a Mulberry crop.
● In addition to the basic factors relevant to the preparation of irrigation.
