High School Summer Abroad
I think it is important to experience the High School Summer Abroad Program because it is a new
aspect in my life and it can help me in many ways. I can see the country and learn the culture and the
language. I have been to Costa Rica and Mexico recently, but I would love to see South America. I
want to see the difference in Spanish speaking countries because not all of them are the same. It is
always cool to see a new country, but it is even better exploring it on your own without your family.
The awesome experience you get without your family being there is that you have to find your way
around the country with no help. Also, you are much freer to do what you want without your family,
because you don t have to decide things in a group.

The Stono Rebellion Essay
The Dominion of New England: In 1686, the British government combined the colonies of
Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Connecticut into a single province to become a big
royal colony lead by a royal governor Andros Charters. Charters self rule were revoked, and the king
enforced mercantile laws. The new setup also made for more efficient administration of English
Navigation Laws, as well as a better defense system. The significance of the dominion of New
England was that it put New England on the map, to become more recognized and brought forth more
gain of money towards England. It was official that the North American colonies was that of England
and had been used for trade as well as bring England ahead of its competitors. ... Show more content

killed. A hundred African Americans rose up, got weapons and killed several whites, then afterwards
they tried to escape to Florida. The uprising was crushed and the participants executed. The
significance of the Stono Rebellion was that it was most serious slave rebellion in the colonial period

The Industrial Revolution During The 19th Century Essay
The Industrial Revolution occurred in Britain from 1760 to 1840. During this time many people
moved from farming areas to the city for work. Britain had three different classes, upper, middle and
working/lower. These three classes had different living and working conditions. The lower class had
the harshest conditions and punishments out of the three, they worked 12 hours a day and then went
home to a crowded diseased ridden house late a night. The middle class actually benefitted from the
revolution, going from working in factories to owning them. And the upper class had the easiest life
out of the three, not having to work and living in beautiful mansions.
Working/lower class working conditions.
Before the industrial revolution the poor working class people had jobs in agriculture and then when
the revolution came, they had to find jobs in factories. Because working in factories was easier than in
the fields, large amounts of women and children began working. During the industrial revolution,
some of the working class benefitted from it by getting better jobs and/or becoming business owners.
But the ones that were unskilled and uneducated were stuck in the lower class. There jobs offered poor
pay which often resulted in a miserable, dreary and simple life. The working conditions were fifthly,
dangerous and extreme. Most children who worked all day every day didn t go to school which meant
they could receive an education. Without an education, the poor couldn t get

Colonialism And The Legacy Of Colonialism In America
Everyone in America has been touched by the legacy of colonialism, from the people whose ancestors
were enslaved and used to enrich those who owned them to the immigrants that arrived for a better
future but still face the same discrimination as those before them. However, not everyone in America
knows this, and simply ignore that the hardships of most people of color stem from the institutions put
in place by colonialism. This is why I believe that it is important for people to be aware of the impacts
that colonialism has on people across the world, especially in places like Los Angeles, my hometown.
Admittedly, I never knew much about the history of the place I lived in, aside from the splendor of
Hollywood or the riots that swept the city during the 90s. However, as I read more about the history of
the people who lived here, such as the Tongva people, or the Californios, the more I realize of the
abuses that they faced at the hands of white Europeans and Americans that were trying to settle in the
region. These abuses continue to be felt today, where the research article, Reading, Writing, and
Toxics: Children s Health, Academic Performance, and Environmental Justice in Los Angeles by
Manuel Pastor Jr., James L Sadd , and Rachel Morello Frosch explain how people of color were living
in places where they were contaminated by toxic chemicals without their knowledge. This is a form of
environmental racism that needs awareness, as living in such conditions could

Acetone Molar Mass
The purpose of this experiment was to demonstrate how to calculate the molar mass of a volatile
liquid using the ideal gas law. By vaporizing a small sample of acetone and condensing it into liquid
while measuring temperature, pressure, volume, and mass, the number of moles of the gas substance
and its molar mass can be calculated. An accurate calculation of the moles of acetone gas was allowed
due to the hole in the foil of the test tube, which ensured that excess oxygen was driven out of the test
tube and only acetone gas was left. In order to accurately calculate the mass of the acetone gas, the test
tube was placed in an ice water bath to condense the acetone gas into a liquid.
An uncertainity of 0.001g was appropriate for the mass measurements ... Show more content on

First, when the acetone was vaporized in the boiling water bath, it was assumed that the pressure
inside the test tube was equal to the outside air pressure due to the hole in the aluminum foil. If this
assumption produced a source of error, it would have led to an inaccurate measurement of the mass of
acetone gas in the test tube, leading to an inaccurate calculation of the substance s molar mas. Second,
when the acetone was vaporized in the boiling water bath, it was assumed that the temperature of the
water was equal to the temperature of the gas. This assumption could produce a source of error which
would lead to an inaccurate measurement of the molar mass of acetone gas due to flaws with the ideal
gas equation. Third, since the barometric pressure was measured using an online weather service, it is
possible that the pressure outside was not equal to the air pressure inside the chemistry lab. This
inaccuracy could lead to false calculations of acetone s molar mass due to pressure s role in the ideal
gas equation. Many of the systematic errors that are possible are due to flaws with the ideal gas
equation and assumptions about the ideal nature of the acetone sample and ideal conditions of the
laboratory. Finally, it was assumed that there was no excess condensation on the test tube even after
drying it. However, this assumption would lead to an inaccurate measurement of the mass of the
acetone gas, creating a larger

Summary Of Matthew Condon s Brisbane
Brisbane
ï‚·Brisbane deals with history, childhood and growing up. Matthew Condon s Brisbane is obsessed
with time and timelessness, it uses childhood experiences (both his and his sons) to attempt to connect
the past to the present. Condon continuously refers to himself feeling events and people of the past;
people often refer to this book as being nostalgic but Condon s writing seem to suggest more than that.

African American History
In the early 1920s Marcus Garvey captured the interest of many black Americans when he emphasized
black nationalism and black separatism (White et. al. 2012). In 1966, former leader of the Student
Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Stokely Carmichael, echoed Garvey s philosophy when
he coined the term Black Power at a rally in Mississippi (Brown 2014). Introduced as an oratorical
tool, black power urged race pride and race unity to inspire militancy among black Americans. It was
founded on the belief that black survival depended on the exercise of black power to effect economic
and political change in black communities. Alongside Malcolm X s rhetoric of empowerment and the
aggressiveness of groups such as the Black Panther Party, Carmichael s vision of black power was not
representative of integration what he believed spoke to the problem of blackness (Carmichael 1966).
Interestingly, affirmative action, a then new approach to empowering black Americans, undermined
this basic tenant. It gave African Americans preferential treatment in hiring and school admissions,
which effectually assimilated blacks into majorly white institutions. (Affirmative Action 2014) Thus,
affirmative action adopted a more inclusive philosophy. As such, it is easy to conclude that these two
ideologies lie on opposite sides of the race relations spectrum; that despite originating to bring about
societal justice for African Americans, black power advocates sought their freedoms through

Acupuncture For The Treatment Of Low Back Pain
Acupuncture for the treatment of low back pain
Background
Low back pain has been a major activity limitation for many people below the age of 45 years in the
United States (Andersson, 1999). According to a study conducted in the U.S. in 1997, there are 54
percent patients that report back pain and using complementary therapy (Wolsko et al., 2003). Another
survey conducted in 2002 indicated that while back pain led to most frequent patient visits to
acupuncturists across U.S (Cherkin et al., 2002). Western countries still experience many case of
chronic low back pain which can be attributable to high medical expenses, decline in productivity, as
well as disability. There still exists a variety of standard treatments although some have not been
cleared as affective. Acupuncture is a contemporary as well as alternative treatment strategy for
patients wilt low back pains although there are questions from previous systematic reviews that were
inconclusive on the results of acupuncture treatment strategy for low back pain. These statistics
indicate a high level of public concern hence strengthening the relevance for asking whether
acupuncture gives positive results in the treatment of back pain. Therefore this research seeks to gain
evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the positive results of acupuncture in treatment
of low back pain.
Before this study, there were other publications that had systematically reviewed research on this
question in 1996 (Ernst,

Check A Car Essay
When purchasing a used car, you should check several things, including how the vehicle runs. If you
do not know enough about engines, you can ask to test drive the vehicle to your mechanic or bring a
knowledgeable person with you.
Locate a vehicle and call or email the seller. Ask basic questions such as the condition of the vehicle,
about service records and if it has certain options you are interested in. If you are still interested in
purchasing the vehicle, make arrangements to test drive the vehicle. If you are purchasing from an
individual, you will have to find out when that person is available, but if you are purchasing from a
dealership, you can show up any time during the used car dealership s business hours.
Check the outside of the vehicle. Look for dents and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the vehicle shows low mileage, especially for its age, look at the wear on the brake pedals and under
the floor mats. A vehicle with 60,000 miles on it most likely won t have a severely worn brake pedal.
If you see a severely worn brake pedal on a car with purported low mileage, be very suspicious.
Likewise with worn carpet under the floor mats. The seller or another person could have tampered
with the odometer.
Start the vehicle and listen to the engine. Listen for knocking and squeaking noises. If you do not hear
anything out of the ordinary, test drive the vehicle. Make sure the seller has enough gas in the vehicle
to drive it for at least a mile, preferably two. Some noises and problems do not appear until the vehicle
warms up.
If you are still happy with the condition of the vehicle, take a closer look at the engine. Look at the
belts to ensure there isn t excessive wear. Check the oil. The oil should be clean medium brown to
dark brown. If it is black, even if the seller insists he just changed it, it shows that oil changes have not
been done regularly. If the oil has a milky look to it, run and run fast, unless you know how to fix a

he Death of Benny Paret by Norman Mailer
Fierce, vehement, and feral, Emile Griffith punched Benny Paret 18 times within a mere 3 seconds.
These crucial 3 seconds became life changing for the enduring Benny Paret as he confronted death;
unfortunately, Paret could not bear the deep wound inflicted to him by Griffith and has passed away.
In the stands, the audience was frightened by what they saw, but one in particular, Norman Mailer,
was also appalled and incredulous in what he had witnessed. Afterwards, Norman Mailer published a
passage, The Death of Benny Paret, describing the brutal fight and delineating his perspective on the
issue. In The Death of Benny Paret, Norman Mailer utilized stylistic devices such as diction, literary
devices, and syntax to give the reader an overall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, Mailer also interspersed various literary devices such as figurative language and
similes. Similes were ubiquitous in this passage because Mailer wants the reader who didn t witness
the event to know how it felt by using everyday examples that the reader can relate to. In the passage,
the reader learns that Griffith was in like a cat ready to rip the life out of a huge boxed rat. By this
simile, the reader can relate to the issue which increases his empathy to the situation. The reader
knows that a cat chasing a rat shows that the rat is in a predicament of life and death which is
analogous to the life and death situation between Griffith and Paret. Also, the quote ...like a baseball
demolishing a pumpkin... let the reader learn how the extent of Griffith s punches seemed by
comparing two situations: a baseball demolishing a pumpkin and Griffith punching Paret s face.
Inferring from the instance of the baseball and pumpkin, the reader would feel appalled even
apprehensive. Moreover, the reader would pity Paret while resent Griffith due to his aggressive
attitude. Mailer also uses figurative language to show Griffith s lack of ethics and his truculent
behavior. This figurative language is provided in the quote ...he was off on an orgy, he had left the
Garden, he was back on hoodlum s street. Mailer

Over the past few decades, herbal drugs have become more popular among the people in the world. A
regular and widespread use of herbs throughout the world has increased serious concerns over their
quality, safety and efficacy. Further about 80% of world population depends on herbal preparations for
primary healthcare needs. In many developed countries, 70 to 80 per cent of the populations have used
some form of complementary or alternative medicines composed primarily of herbal medicines
(Firenzuoli, 2007). Herbal medicine is termed as the people s medicine because of their easy

The Field Of Critical Care
Introduction
The field of critical care is rapidly changing. It is important for anesthesiologists be knowledgeable of
these changes for providing care to critically ill patients in the perioperative period. The purpose of
this chapter is to provide update for clinicians on ICU issues relevant to clinical practice. Topics which
will be discussed include: modes of mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy, antibiotic
prophylaxis, nutritional support, sedation management, transport and transfer of care.
I. Modes of Mechanical Ventilation
Introduction
Most patients undergoing general anesthesia for surgical procedures require mechanical ventilation.
One of the biggest challenges facing clinicians providing mechanical ventilatory support today is
managing the balance between providing adequate gas exchange and avoiding lung injury associated
with positive pressure ventilation. Patients with respiratory failure need adequate tissue oxygenation
and acid base balance; however, the lungs are fragile structures that can be injured by over distension,
alveolar collapse and reopening, and high oxygen exposure. This challenge in providing lung
protective ventilation is made more difficult by the fact that lung injury is often heterogeneous and
thus what may benefit gas exchange in one region (e.g., higher pressure) may worsen injury in
another.
Modern anesthesia ventilators are becoming increasingly sophisticated provide high performances in
delivering accurately and

Uncanny In The Sandman
Sadono, Renee English 102: Dr. Rosemary Kwa Essay #2 October 8th, 2014 From Ordinary to
Uncanny: Involuntary Repetition and Doubling In studying Hoffman s, The Sandman , Freud attempts
to define and set parameters for the uncanny. It is commonly thought that the uncanny is produced by
something frightening or upsetting. Freud takes this idea one step further and says that even seemingly
ordinary or harmless situations can become uncanny if the right circumstances exist. For instance,
when a person suddenly takes notice of a recurring pattern in their life, they might be inclined to
believe the pattern is designed. Making that sort of connection can take a recurrence from innocuous
to creepy. Another concept Freud touches upon is the idea of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Neither experience is very strange on its own but, when the dark implications of each are manifested
in Miu s mind, they become uncanny. Freud postulated that this was the case with involuntary
repetition and this concept shed light on why Miu became upset when she suspected Ferdinando was
intentionally crossing her path and maybe even following her. Freud also argued that doubling is a
common and even ancient practice that people use to protect themselves against some terrible fate.
Miu may have done just that when she watched herself, as a separate person entirely, engage in sexual
activities with Ferdinando in her apartment while she was trapped on a Ferris wheel. Applying Freud s
ideas and arguments to Haruki Murakami s, Sputnik Sweetheart has unraveled much of the mystery
contained therein as it relates to the human experience of the

Make it your goal to adopt healthier eating and exercise habits. If you feel compelled to set a weight

that a weight loss of as little as 5 to 10 percent of body weight can significantly improve risk factors
for heart disease such as high blood pressure, high blood glucose and triglycerides, and low HDL
cholesterol levels. The safest rate of weight loss is 0.5 to 2 lbs a week. If you lose weight at this rate,

foreign cultural penetration in Canada. Sharing a large border and more importantly a common
language with the United States means Canada is in a very difficult position in regard to American
culture, with direct attempts at the Canadian market or the general diffusion of American culture in the

Listening About Electronic Health Records
The purpose of this paper is to talk about Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Throughout the paper, I
will state the EHR mandate, who started it and when, its goals and objectives. I will explain how is the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) connected to the EHR. Furthermore, I will describe my facility s plan and
meaningful use. Finally, I will define Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
laws and what is being done by my facility to prevent HIPAA violation.
Description of the Electronic Health Record
EHRs are computerized versions of patient s paper charts. EHRs makes the health information about
the patient accessible anywhere at any time. EHR holds the pertinent information about a patient s
medical history, medications, immunization record, allergies, radiology and other diagnostic images,
and lab results (Health Information Technology (Health IT), 2013). EHR makes patient care safer by
bringing together all health records from previous and current doctors, as well as pharmacies and
different diagnostic facilities.
In 2004, President George W. Bush issued an order for implementation of EHR in hope to help
improve the quality and effectiveness of health care in the United States (United States (U.S.)
Department of Health Human Services, 2008). The Office of National Coordinator (ONC) for Health
IT established Strategic Plan to establish coordinated transition for all Americans to have access to
EHR by 2014.

gender stereotypes. Normally performing as exaggerated male characters whose routine may consist

We see it again when Dred decides to walk time square hand in hand with a Queen Bee Luscious, a
drag queen. In the background we hear a passerby say a statement referring to God. Viewing this
documentary we realize that cross dressing, as a man, is not as acceptable as many would think. Not
just crossing dressing in generally but even not embodying how females should look is deemed as
being deviant.
Society has this spectrum that every individual as soon as they are born is classified into groups. There
are only two categories. On one end you have the masculine males and on the other the girly women.
There is no in between. Even though there are many people who fall into these middle categories. This
is reinforced through media as we see both men and women trying to conform into their assigned
categories. What Drag Kings do is try to break this concept as it is poisonous to women and men who
don t fit in and suffer trying to conform to the social roles placed on them. For example, let s look at
hair. In the documentary we see some females who decided to shave their head hair. Angela says that
female sexuality for many men, not all but many, is linked strongly with hair. If you shave it, it means
that you are denying your female sexuality . It is not just simply shaving your head that is the reason
that you are making a statement. It is the way Angela uses it in her shows that demonstrates

President Andrew Jackson
In regards to the overall effect a single president has had in the course of US history, President
Andrew Jackson should be taken into consideration. Though his morals and personality have long
been critiqued and scrutinized, Jackson s presidency had an indisputable effect upon the power of the
president as an individual. Jackson s profound influence upon the office of presidency was
exemplified within his fiscal, social, and political interventions in American politics during the mid
nineteenth century.
President Andrew Jackson changed the office of presidency through his continuous actions, which
served to diminish the power of the federal government thus increasing both his political and
economic agendas. The economic policies Jackson enacted demonstrated his distrust of both large
government and Northeastern power brokers. Due to his hatred for big government, Jackson detested
the Bank of the United States. Jackson ensured that the Second Bank of the United States (BUS) failed
by vetoing Congress s attempt to recharter it in ..... In addition Jackson also secured its decrepit state
by withdrawing federal funds from the bank, which he later would deposit in his pet banks. Although
his hatred for the bank invoked controversy there were many that shared his economic beliefs. In Doc
4 this is exemplified as Jackson is portrayed is the hero slaying the hydra headed monster. The
portrayal of the Bank of the United States as a mythological monster reinforces the notion that

Violence In Alagoas Essay
Over the past few years, studies and research have shown a tremendous increase in the amount of
crime in several Brazilian states. Millions of people are currently affected by an uncontrollable swarm
of violence that spreads across the country from north to south, and now see a long way ahead as
major police and military forces face one of the worst, sizable economic catastrophes in history. In
northeastern Brazil, where the violence rate nearly doubles each year, Alagoas state has seen a great
increase in crime rate, with a record annual killing of 2,000 people... a big difference if compared to a

will be cancelled due to resource inefficiency , but things soon head to a promising start. At the end of
July, as the Olympics are near its commencement, Rio is supplied with 85,000 security forces to

appearance of military soldiers encompassing Rio s surroundings mostly surprise Brazilian people
who are not only concerned about getting robbed by dangerous criminals, but also are on the lookout

events like the Olympics and the World Cup, safety from military forces is absolutely necessary so as

A Christian Worldview On The World Through The Lens Of The...
A Christian worldview would encompass the framework that we must view the world through the lens
of the Bible. Human Nature: I have not given much thought as to identifying my Christian worldview
on paper, and rarely have I given it much thought. To be a born again is to believe the Gospel of Jesus
Christ one must take a stand for the fundamental principles of the Gospel. Those principles include
belief in God as the creator of the universe and all that are on the earth and Jesus Christ as the Son of
God who came to save the world from sin and redeem us back to God. The absolute truth that Jesus
Christ was born of a virgin, lived, died on the cross for all mankind for the sins both seen and unseen,
and rose from the grave on the third day, who has now has ascended to heaven. He will return to take
us back to the place that he has prepared for the bride to come and live with him in eternity. God the
Father is the Absolute, Sovereign, eternal God who has no beginning and no end, who moves in and
out of time to have interaction at his will with the children of men. The scripture is viewed as the
infallible Word of God and they were written by men of old who were inspired by God. Therefore, the
Christian worldview that I ascribe to are the ones that I have previously noted. Now there are those
who would question or disagree with my next principle, however, I feel that a Christian should possess
this nature as well. The Bible tells us in Acts 2: how the called were in the upper

Traveler s checks mean that money if lost can easily be replaced by attending a local bank and

Hazard process.
There are several most popular approaches for hazard process estimation.
First approach defines the hazard process as a stochastic process with help of Vasicek and CIR

First way is to estimate it is a parameter from a real market data and second way is to assume this rate
as a constant. From the first point of view it seems that the first method is more preferable than the
second one, it is difficult and consuming in implementation.
The following graph shows a model obtained from the following security: a bond issued by Deutsche
Bank that was taken from Bloomberg on the 23d of July. The swap curve was used in the following
graphs as a proxy for the default free curve for a constant hazard rate model. The curves are built for a
constant recovery rates that vary from 10% 90% with a step of 10%. For each obtained value the
hazard rate is estimated.

The Middle Ages And Renaissance Period
From the time period of knights, kings, and queens, women have often been seen as a damsel in
distress; one in which needs rescuing, taking care of and protected as a prize possession. This
possession was just that, the possession of a man for which she was to be subservient, meek, honoring,
and bowing down before her man. Hence, any deviation from this behavior, she was charged with
treason whether justified or not. She was expected to act and behave in a proper manner, beseeching
power to those above her. Throughout the years, this pattern has been slow to change. I will show the

I know not if she s woman or goddess; but Venus she is truly, I guess. (Chaucer lines 240 244)
Both men acknowledged the beauty in the fair Emily, but both were in prison. They bickered between
each other as to who saw her first, as they objectified her as the most beautiful woman, the equivalent
of a goddess. As Arcita was released from prison, and Palamon remained, Arcita declared Palamon the
victor: Yours is the victory, and that is sure, / For there, full happily, you may endure / In prison Never

desired woman, when Palamon, even though locked up in a cell, could observe the beautiful Emily
while she strolled in the garden. The admiration of Emily continues as Palamon escapes and as luck
would have it met up with Arcita which prompts a dual. King Theseus, out hunting with this queen,
and Emily, came upon this fight. Both men declared they love for Emily, but prisoners, one escaped
and one banished from the land, were sentenced to death. The women, cried out for the sparing of
their lives:

Eliot depicts Prufrock s personal reminiscence, Prufrock notes his decisions and revisions and further
revisions, which stand as the protagonist s fundamental remembrances as important choices inscribing
his tabula rosa and formulating his essence. Additionally, Eliot presents his meager man choosing to
avoid choice, which ironically reflects a profound choice; clearly, Prufrock chooses indecision and,
thereby, molds his psychologically painful and hesitant essence. However, a dichotomy does exist.
Perhaps, Eliot rejects Sartre s position you are the sole author of your own existence since Eliot
depicts vacuous, pseudo intellectual women who talk shallowly of Michelangelo, rather than using the
powerful freedom to choose and self define. However, this perspective rings erroneous since the
women, much like Camus Sisyphean understanding, own and choose to live this vacuous life, thereby
constructing their own fulfilling essence. If I could talk to Sartre today, I would ask him the following:

Rabbis, pulpit Rabbi, synagogue Cantor, and inflexible religious laws squeeze my future s trajectory
into a narrow, straight path, so how can I possibly sculpt my own essence? Iron blue and white (the

Cleansing rain can symbolize a change in someone. This change can be symbolized as a mental
awakening or change in a characteristic, big or small. Changes can include the way someone sees
themself or society. Liekt the lady in Song of Solomon , her cleansing rain washed away her false
ideal of beauty and left behind what beauty truly was. Cleansing rain can also symbolize becoming
stained , or having a negative change in a characteristic. This is through cleansing rain making a
puddle of mud created from this rain. Fog is also an event in weather that is symbolized. Fog
symbolizes confusion or a clouded mind. Characters may say that they have a foggy memory, meaning
they don t remember something that previously happened. Fog can also confusion. This is seen
through Scooby Doo, since a lot of the mysterious places that their gang visits re clouded by fog,
symbolizing the mysteriousness in where their location. Floods and rain aren t the only thing that is

The Role Of The Hero s Journey In Star Wars
The hero s journey is an ongoing concept used in many tales which involves a hero who goes on an
adventure, wins a victory, and then comes home changed or transformed. In the society that we live in,
the hero becomes a hero by attaining in what they believe in for the good of others. Among the

Organizational Dynamics of Implementing Business Intelligence Initiatives
Business intelligence is the ability of a business to be able to extract actionable insight from business
as well as market data, which is used to make better decisions in business; and to improve the
corporate performance of the business. Business intelligence must exist for businesses in the world
today to survive(Electrosmard Ltd). Almost every business today worth its salt is looking for the
appropriate business intelligence technology in order to survive in today s fiercely competitive world.
Business intelligence also helps companies and businesses to survive during hard economic times.
During such periods, it is not a surprise to find companies still spending on the processes of business
intelligence because without such solutions, there is no business at all. In any case, there is a business;
it is most likely on the decline in terms of productivity and revenues. Business intelligence is not a
onetime thing; it is an ongoing process. Business intelligence goes on as long as the business is still
running; the business intelligence continues to exist too.
Business intelligence involves techniques based on computers that are used in the identification,
extraction, as well as the analysis of business data(Electrosmart Ltd). The business data in this case

passion, and the will to decide when and how to use medical technology. In both Belkin and Slaters
essays the government is seen as an obstacle to allow the doctors be in control of their own job.
Government is looking for ways on how to control the people regardless if it is providing funds or not.
Peoples lives should not be based on what the governments visions are . The use of medical
technology should stand in the hands of the doctors with no pressure included.Neurosurgeon Rees
Cosgrove stated If we do not do this right and carefully, and , you know properly... I do not think we
will have another opportunity (242). There is a certain amount of pressure on the doctors shoulders to
perfect these experiments and devices. Because there is no time for trial and error doctors are not able
to test the procedure several times before actually executing it . There are no animal models of DBS
for anxiety or depression, so these forays into the human brains are largely unguided despite all the
high tech equipment (242). Once again, government is limiting the doctors options creating less
precise results for their research. Spending so much time with anyone creates a certain level of
attachment, let alone between a doctor and his or her patient. This attachment or bond can expedite the
curing period of a patient.

Question 3. The First Amendment States That “Congress Shall
Question 3 The First amendment states that Congress shall pass no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech (U.S. Const.

Government could exist only in name under such circumstances. (Reynolds, 98 U.S. 145,167). The
Reynolds court also placed a grave emphasis on a quote Thomas Jefferson wrote, [b]elieving with you
that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God; ...the legislative powers of the
government reach actions only, and not opinions (1671). The enforced the criminal prosecution
against Reynolds because they believed they could regulate action even if they could not interfere with
belief or opinion. During the 1970s the court reviewed the constitutionality of compelled exemptions
for religiously motivated conduct (1673). In Wisconsin v. Yoder the Court held that there was an
important state interest in universal education but the law to compel students to go to school infringed
on the free exercised rights. Chief Justice Burger, lauded the virtues of the Amish and their social
practices. In Employment Division v. Smith, the Court held that the use of peyote for religious
purposes does not protect the persons from a denial of unemployment benefits. Justice Scalia stated,
We have never held that an individual s religious beliefs excuse him from compliance with an
otherwise valid law prohibiting conduct that the State is free to regulate (1676). In Obergefell v.
Hodges, two men, Arthur and John, travelled from Ohio to Maryland, where same sex marriage was
legal, to get married before Arthur who was sick died. Arthur died shortly after and

Love In Fahrenheit 451 Analysis
The Theme of Love in Fahrenheit 451
A world full a blank expressionless faces connected to even more mindless robotic people. A world
where one just breathes and eats, but never truly feels any emotion. Our world is on the way to
becoming this, but for Millie and Montag this was a sad, sad, reality in Ray Bradbury s book
Fahrenheit 451. Everything grows with time as did our main character Montag throughout the book.
Montag begins as a mindless follower and evolves into a fearless leader. As he grows into this leader
his relationship with Mildred goes through multiple changes. Montag and Millie s story is broken into
three parts. Montag first and most briefly believes he and Millie were a fairy tale couple and then
Clarisse made him realize that he was in a loveless relationship, but finally in the last few pages
Montag comes to peace with everything that has happened.
The time where Millie and Montag have a fairytale relationship is short lived but we can infer that
they had had a perfect relationship for the years leading up to the beginning of this book. We can see
an example of how Montag did everything in his power to ignore anything that threatened his
relationship when he talks to Clarisse for the first time. Clarisse asks Montag if he is happy and
Montag says quickly without much thought Of course I m happy. What does she think? I m not?
(Bradburry 8). Montag answered this question as quickly as you d answer a simple addition problem.
We see this happen in our world too. When someone asks How are you? the only socially acceptable
response is I m fine . But no one can be fine all the time. This shows how our world is slowly
beginning to become the dystopia described in Fahrenheit 451. But everything must change and as our
world changes for the worse Montag is becoming aware of how bad his world and will set out to
change it.
Next Montag realizes he has been trapped in a loveless relationship with Millie all these years. After
Clarisse asks him if he s happy he walks into his house to see that his wife has attempted suicide. He
calls the hospital expecting doctors to rush over to save her, but instead a pair of almost janitors come
to clean her out. Everything that had happened that day boiled up

Descriptive Essay On Animal Abuse
An Animal Extravaganza s Galore
Animals are the beginning of the best nerve wrecking filled love you could ever dream of for your
entire existence. Ever since I was a young child, I ve always resonated with the everlasting idea of
helping animals more so than anyone and anything else in this world. My love for animals had begun
when I was a mere two years old. I ve always had pets: dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, and much
more. I remember the joy I d felt when my parents brought my dogs and I to the park. To find out
more information about how to help adoptable animals in shelters, I contacted Amanda Smasal, a
community outreach coordinator at Wayside Waifs. Wayside Waifs is no kill shelter located in Kansas
City, Missouri which has adoptable dogs and cats, ready and willing to go to safe, loving homes.
When I first emailed Smasal asking if she would participate in the interview, I felt overwhelming fear
and began to panic about the whole encounter. The fear of having to ask someone I had never met to
talk with me is something that scares me. Nonetheless, I sent the email asking politely yet efficiently
to see if she would give me a few of her precious minutes to answer questions about a cause worth
fighting for: animal rescue hospitals. She quickly responded to my quaint email approximately a day
later stating she would happily answer any and all questions I have, significant or insignificant. The
questions took a couple days to figure out. The few days I had to create

  • 2. High School Summer Abroad I think it is important to experience the High School Summer Abroad Program because it is a new aspect in my life and it can help me in many ways. I can see the country and learn the culture and the language. I have been to Costa Rica and Mexico recently, but I would love to see South America. I want to see the difference in Spanish speaking countries because not all of them are the same. It is always cool to see a new country, but it is even better exploring it on your own without your family. The awesome experience you get without your family being there is that you have to find your way around the country with no help. Also, you are much freer to do what you want without your family, because you don t have to decide things in a group. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Stono Rebellion Essay The Dominion of New England: In 1686, the British government combined the colonies of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Connecticut into a single province to become a big royal colony lead by a royal governor Andros Charters. Charters self rule were revoked, and the king enforced mercantile laws. The new setup also made for more efficient administration of English Navigation Laws, as well as a better defense system. The significance of the dominion of New England was that it put New England on the map, to become more recognized and brought forth more gain of money towards England. • 4. The Industrial Revolution During The 19th Century Essay The Industrial Revolution occurred in Britain from 1760 to 1840. During this time many people moved from farming areas to the city for work. Britain had three different classes, upper, middle and working/lower. These three classes had different living and working conditions. The lower class had the harshest conditions and punishments out of the three, they worked 12 hours a day and then went home to a crowded diseased ridden house late a night. The middle class actually benefitted from the revolution, going from working in factories to owning them. And the upper class had the easiest life out of the three, not having to work and living in beautiful mansions. Working/lower class working conditions. Before the industrial revolution the poor working class people had jobs in agriculture and then when the revolution came, they had to find jobs in factories. Because working in factories was easier than in the fields, large amounts of women and children began working. During the industrial revolution, some of the working class benefitted from it by getting better jobs and/or becoming business owners. But the ones that were unskilled and uneducated were stuck in the lower class. There jobs offered poor pay which often resulted in a miserable, dreary and simple life. The working conditions were fifthly, dangerous and extreme. Most children who worked all day every day didn t go to school which meant they could receive an education. Without an education, the poor couldn t get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Colonialism And The Legacy Of Colonialism In America Everyone in America has been touched by the legacy of colonialism, from the people whose ancestors were enslaved and used to enrich those who owned them to the immigrants that arrived for a better future but still face the same discrimination as those before them. However, not everyone in America knows this, and simply ignore that the hardships of most people of color stem from the institutions put in place by colonialism. This is why I believe that it is important for people to be aware of the impacts that colonialism has on people across the world, especially in places like Los Angeles, my hometown. Admittedly, I never knew much about the history of the place I lived in, aside from the splendor of Hollywood or the riots that swept the city during the 90s. However, as I read more about the history of the people who lived here, such as the Tongva people, or the Californios, the more I realize of the abuses that they faced at the hands of white Europeans and Americans that were trying to settle in the region. These abuses continue to be felt today, where the research article, Reading, Writing, and Toxics: Children s Health, Academic Performance, and Environmental Justice in Los Angeles by Manuel Pastor Jr., James L Sadd , and Rachel Morello Frosch explain how people of color were living in places where they were contaminated by toxic chemicals without their knowledge. This is a form of environmental racism that needs awareness, as living in such conditions could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Acetone Molar Mass The purpose of this experiment was to demonstrate how to calculate the molar mass of a volatile liquid using the ideal gas law. By vaporizing a small sample of acetone and condensing it into liquid while measuring temperature, pressure, volume, and mass, the number of moles of the gas substance and its molar mass can be calculated. An accurate calculation of the moles of acetone gas was allowed due to the hole in the foil of the test tube, which ensured that excess oxygen was driven out of the test tube and only acetone gas was left. In order to accurately calculate the mass of the acetone gas, the test tube was placed in an ice water bath to condense the acetone gas into a liquid. An uncertainity of 0.001g was appropriate for the mass measurements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, when the acetone was vaporized in the boiling water bath, it was assumed that the pressure inside the test tube was equal to the outside air pressure due to the hole in the aluminum foil. If this assumption produced a source of error, it would have led to an inaccurate measurement of the mass of acetone gas in the test tube, leading to an inaccurate calculation of the substance s molar mas. Second, when the acetone was vaporized in the boiling water bath, it was assumed that the temperature of the water was equal to the temperature of the gas. This assumption could produce a source of error which would lead to an inaccurate measurement of the molar mass of acetone gas due to flaws with the ideal gas equation. Third, since the barometric pressure was measured using an online weather service, it is possible that the pressure outside was not equal to the air pressure inside the chemistry lab. This inaccuracy could lead to false calculations of acetone s molar mass due to pressure s role in the ideal gas equation. Many of the systematic errors that are possible are due to flaws with the ideal gas equation and assumptions about the ideal nature of the acetone sample and ideal conditions of the laboratory. Finally, it was assumed that there was no excess condensation on the test tube even after drying it. However, this assumption would lead to an inaccurate measurement of the mass of the acetone gas, creating a larger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Summary Of Matthew Condon s Brisbane Brisbane ï‚·Brisbane deals with history, childhood and growing up. Matthew Condon s Brisbane is obsessed with time and timelessness, it uses childhood experiences (both his and his sons) to attempt to connect the past to the present. Condon continuously refers to himself feeling events and people of the past; people often refer to this book as being nostalgic but Condon s writing seem to suggest more than that. • 9. African American History In the early 1920s Marcus Garvey captured the interest of many black Americans when he emphasized black nationalism and black separatism (White et. al. 2012). In 1966, former leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Stokely Carmichael, echoed Garvey s philosophy when he coined the term Black Power at a rally in Mississippi (Brown 2014). Introduced as an oratorical tool, black power urged race pride and race unity to inspire militancy among black Americans. It was founded on the belief that black survival depended on the exercise of black power to effect economic and political change in black communities. Alongside Malcolm X s rhetoric of empowerment and the aggressiveness of groups such as the Black Panther Party, Carmichael s vision of black power was not representative of integration what he believed spoke to the problem of blackness (Carmichael 1966). Interestingly, affirmative action, a then new approach to empowering black Americans, undermined this basic tenant. It gave African Americans preferential treatment in hiring and school admissions, which effectually assimilated blacks into majorly white institutions. Acupuncture For The Treatment Of Low Back Pain Acupuncture for the treatment of low back pain Background Low back pain has been a major activity limitation for many people below the age of 45 years in the United States (Andersson, 1999). According to a study conducted in the U.S. in 1997, there are 54 percent patients that report back pain and using complementary therapy (Wolsko et al., 2003). Another survey conducted in 2002 indicated that while back pain led to most frequent patient visits to acupuncturists across U.S (Cherkin et al., 2002). Western countries still experience many case of chronic low back pain which can be attributable to high medical expenses, decline in productivity, as well as disability. There still exists a variety of standard treatments although some have not been cleared as affective. Acupuncture is a contemporary as well as alternative treatment strategy for patients wilt low back pains although there are questions from previous systematic reviews that were inconclusive on the results of acupuncture treatment strategy for low back pain. These statistics indicate a high level of public concern hence strengthening the relevance for asking whether acupuncture gives positive results in the treatment of back pain. Therefore this research seeks to gain evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the positive results of acupuncture in treatment of low back pain. It is important for anesthesiologists be knowledgeable of these changes for providing care to critically ill patients in the perioperative period. The purpose of this chapter is to provide update for clinicians on ICU issues relevant to clinical practice. Topics which will be discussed include: modes of mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy, antibiotic prophylaxis, nutritional support, sedation management, transport and transfer of care. I. Modes of Mechanical Ventilation Introduction Most patients undergoing general anesthesia for surgical procedures require mechanical ventilation. One of the biggest challenges facing clinicians providing mechanical ventilatory support today is managing the balance between providing adequate gas exchange and avoiding lung injury associated with positive pressure ventilation. Patients with respiratory failure need adequate tissue oxygenation and acid base balance; however, the lungs are fragile structures that can be injured by over distension, alveolar collapse and reopening, and high oxygen exposure. This challenge in providing lung protective ventilation is made more difficult by the fact that lung injury is often heterogeneous and thus what may benefit gas exchange in one region (e.g., higher pressure) may worsen injury in another. It is commonly thought that the uncanny is produced by something frightening or upsetting. Freud takes this idea one step further and says that even seemingly ordinary or harmless situations can become uncanny if the right circumstances exist. Freud also argued that doubling is a common and even ancient practice that people use to protect themselves against some terrible fate. The Middle Ages And Renaissance Period From the time period of knights, kings, and queens, women have often been seen as a damsel in distress; one in which needs rescuing, taking care of and protected as a prize possession. This possession was just that, the possession of a man for which she was to be subservient, meek, honoring, and bowing down before her man. Hence, any deviation from this behavior, she was charged with treason whether justified or not. She was expected to act and behave in a proper manner, beseeching power to those above her. Throughout the years, this pattern has been slow to change. (Chaucer lines 240 244) Both men acknowledged the beauty in the fair Emily, but both were in prison. As Arcita was released from prison, and Palamon remained, Arcita declared Palamon the victor: Yours is the victory, and that is sure, / For there, full happily, you may endure / In prison Never but in Paradise! (Chaucer 377 379). The implication was that he could never be happy not seeing his desired woman, when Palamon, even though locked up in a cell, could observe the beautiful Emily while she strolled in the garden. The admiration of Emily continues as Palamon escapes and as luck would have it met up with Arcita which prompts a dual. King Theseus, out hunting with this queen, and Emily, came upon this fight. Eliot depicts Prufrock s personal reminiscence, Prufrock notes his decisions and revisions and further revisions, which stand as the protagonist s fundamental remembrances as important choices inscribing his tabula rosa and formulating his essence. Additionally, Eliot presents his meager man choosing to avoid choice, which ironically reflects a profound choice; clearly, Prufrock chooses indecision and, thereby, molds his psychologically painful and hesitant essence. However, a dichotomy does exist. Perhaps, Eliot rejects Sartre s position you are the sole author of your own existence since Eliot depicts vacuous, pseudo intellectual women who talk shallowly of Michelangelo, rather than using the powerful freedom to choose and self define. However, this perspective rings erroneous since the women, much like Camus Sisyphean understanding, own and choose to live this vacuous life, thereby constructing their own fulfilling essence. If I could talk to Sartre today, I would ask him the following: I m a sixteen year old orthodox Jew and religion hounds my ability to choose. My parents, school Rabbis, pulpit Rabbi, synagogue Cantor, and inflexible religious laws squeeze my future s trajectory into a narrow, straight path, so how can I possibly sculpt my own essence? A world where one just breathes and eats, but never truly feels any emotion. Our world is on the way to becoming this, but for Millie and Montag this was a sad, sad, reality in Ray Bradbury s book Fahrenheit 451. Everything grows with time as did our main character Montag throughout the book. Montag begins as a mindless follower and evolves into a fearless leader. As he grows into this leader his relationship with Mildred goes through multiple changes. Montag and Millie s story is broken into three parts. Montag first and most briefly believes he and Millie were a fairy tale couple and then Clarisse made him realize that he was in a loveless relationship, but finally in the last few pages Montag comes to peace with everything that has happened. The time where Millie and Montag have a fairytale relationship is short lived but we can infer that they had had a perfect relationship for the years leading up to the beginning of this book. We can see an example of how Montag did everything in his power to ignore anything that threatened his relationship when he talks to Clarisse for the first time. Clarisse asks Montag if he is happy and Montag says quickly without much thought Of course I m happy. What does she think? I m not? (Bradburry 8). Montag answered this question as quickly as you d answer a simple addition problem. We see this happen in our world too. When someone asks How are you? the only socially acceptable response is I m fine . But no one can be fine all the time. This shows how our world is slowly beginning to become the dystopia described in Fahrenheit 451. But everything must change and as our world changes for the worse Montag is becoming aware of how bad his world and will set out to change it. Next Montag realizes he has been trapped in a loveless relationship with Millie all these years.
