The British s Involvement During The 1947-1948 War Of...
Chenika Bukes
Over 20,000 people were murdered during the 1947 1948 War of Independence. The British s
involvement in the conflict during the 1910 s 1940 s is responsible for those deaths through a
narrative of events in the upcoming years to the war. The British fuelled the Arab Israeli conflict by
antagonising the Palestinian Arabs, by sentencing the Jewish people to death and by beginning the
1947 1948 Mandatory Palestine war of independence. The Arab Israeli conflict roughly began with
minor disagreements and altercations since the late 19th century up until present day. Whenever the
British got involved in the conflict, something seemed to go wrong. The Arabs were antagonised by
the British when the McMahon agreement was not seen through. The White paper, commissioned
by the British, created a death sentence for the Jewish people Dr.Weizmann (1939, June), and when
the British withdrew from the conflict a series of events led to the 1947 1948 war of independence.
The McMahon Agreement was constituted on the 24th of October 1915 between the Meccans and
the British. Upon the rise of Arab nationalism, the Arabs (Meccans) pursued independence from the
Ottoman Empire. Amir Abdullah, son of Hussein Bin Ali the Sharif of Mecca, visited the British
general consul in Egypt in February of 1914. His incentive was to verify that the British will
recognise Arab independence if they support the British in war with purpose to abdicate the
Ottoman Turks. Then in 1917 the

How Has The Telegraph Changed Society
Newer technologies, such as the telephone and the Internet, are based on the concept of the
telegraph. Like the telegraph, they use electricity to transmit information from one location to
another. Each new communicating technology has had an impact on society, greater than the one
before. The telegraph changed society indirectly, by transforming the workings of government and
industry. The Telegraph and Morse Codeinvention was also used to make historic announcements.
One way that it was first used in this way was to bring the news of the death of Prince Albert in
1861. A telegram was also sent to the current Queen Elizabeth to let her know about the death of
her father when she was on tour in Kenya. Also, modern newspapers were enabled by

International Trade Shaped The Economy, Culture And...
First of all, I agree with the statement that, International trade shaped the economy, culture and
civilization of many Central Asian Silk Road societies in the pre Mongol era . The explanation of
the term International trade literally means the exchange of goods between different countries in
the world. On the other hand, the aim of the international trade is to spread the culture and absorb
the new culture and things in in order to make a better society. The Silk Road was the first step that
starts to exchange the culture, economy civilization, and also political between China and the
western countries. This International trade made a great contribution to the world. In this essay, I
will focus on the International trade on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Mongolia Empire occupied land by the violence war, they still Unified Eurasia
for the first time, which makes the international trade become easier. Early in the Liao Dynasty,
the Mongol tribes have started to trade the goods like cattle, sheep, horses and fur with Khitan.
Besides, Before the Mongolia Empire established, the Mongolian nomads continued to trade
goods with neighboring people. The political and military strength of Mongol Empire is
powerful provides a more favorable political environment for the Silk Road. Besides, the trade of
the Mogol Silk Road is Relative prosperity, and it is the basis for the development of Tang Song
dynasties Silk Road trade. The nomad empires are relatively stable, and the international trade
became more frequent. That is not a coincidence; the reason is that the Mongol Empire ruled the
Eurasia during that period. On the other hand, Silk Road is a rebirth of the economic trade,
especially during the Mongolia empire period. As I mentioned, the pre Mongol era is like a
turning point for the international trading s rise, because along the ancient Silk Road, there are a
lot of countries, especially the countries of Central Asia. The international trade became the only
way to promote the development of the economic.1 The construction of the Silk Road is like a
economic belt to link China and the western

Virtue Ethics Research Paper
Virtue ethics contends that to live ethically is to live virtuously, and conversely, to live virtuously
is to live ethically. This roots in Nichomachean Ethics and Aristotelian philosophy that to cultivate a
happy life over time, one must make a habit of excellence as it does not come from singular acts.
Vaughn presents this as, what should I be? A virtue
ethicist is not concerned, or defined by acts
alone, but the virtues that motivate them such as compassion, honesty, and loyalty. This also relates
to a whole being, again harkening back to Aristotle, rather than just a rule or principle being
followed as a matter of rightness. To reference on the website http://www.pursuit of happiness.org/,
Aristotle said that, for the same reason we cannot say that children are happy, any more than we
can say an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His example: the right action is performed by a virtuous person and a virtuous person performs the
right action can be likened to the question of which came first, the chicken or the egg? To end the
debate, additional ethical models must be applied and this leads away from pure virtue ethics.
Certainly, all people should want to do what is right and live a life of happiness, but there comes
a point where one is likely to have to apply something more than virtue to a situation (i.e. the
examples at the end of the chapter where the decision is more between two or virtues than what is
simply right or wrong). This is where Aristotle has given additional, well thought guidance in
applying Golden Means, the balance between two extremes. And not just the most extreme in the
strictest definitions, but rather as applied to everyone given their situation, their life, their
decisions and the basis for them as well as the virtue in question. To live the sum of a happy life,
all things should be considered with this in mind, aka all things in

SAT Testing Research Paper
SAT test preparation might not produce desired results if it does not teach you strategies to solve
problems in the right way. Most students who undergo SAT test preparation are pretty familiar
with the SAT test pattern. Being good at one of the sections does not guarantee a good SAT exam
score. To aid you in your SAT test
preparation let me share with you a few strategies that I also use
in my tutoring.
Let us talk about the Math section first. The SAT test, according to many, carries complex math
problems. This is far from being true. Actually, SAT math consists of basic math questions. Unlike
many other tests, the SAT does not ask questions from pre calculus, calculus or trigonometry. This
does not at all mean that you would encounter

Ever Since It Was Abolished In Britain In 1965, There Have
Ever since it was abolished in Britain in 1965, there have been calls to reinstate capital
punishment. Controversial at the time and even more controversial now, the death penalty has
always divided the people and parliament. The view points In the UK differ from person to
person. Some call for the death penalty to be re established due to the so called law of
retaliation: an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth . However on the contrary others believe that
all life is precious and that the death penalty should be eradicated. I believe that it should stay
abolished as whatever the crimea human person has the human right to live and that life is sacred.
Contrasting to my view points, a plentiful bunch of people accept as true; that it ... Show more

This uncontrollable possibility of an innocent being killed is a risk that should not be taken
lightly which is why it should not be reinstated. If the death penalty were to be reestablished in
the UK it would show that we as a civilized society have now returned to medieval practices
which do not belong in 1st world countries as the likelihood of killing innocents is sooner or later
going to happen and Would you want the blood of a blameless victim on your hands?
Secondly, every living breathing human has the right to live. There entire existence is special and
execution violates this indisputable right that all possess even if they have committed an abysmal
crime. A counter point that many suggest is that when they do these actions they are giving up
there human right to live however two wrongs do not make a right and taking the man s life would
just not be justice. Furthermore it is not the place of another human to decide whether someone
lives or dies. If the death penalty were to be reestablished in the UK it would show that the UK
does not take in to considerations humans core right, the right to live therefore making them look
ignorant.
As well as that the death penalty is described as a deterrent to stop people from committing serious
violent crimes. However contrary to popular belief it has been a failure to do so. A survey gathered
by the UN and Amnesty International even disapproves this false, fabricated, fictitious claim. It
came to the conclusion that:

The Performance Of The Symphony No.9
The performance of the Symphony No.9 by Beethoven, conducted by Lenard Bernstein, was a
magnificent piece that captured all the emotion of the people, from the sorrow of those lost in
the war to the joy of the freedom they had just acquired. This piece was placed in Berlin to
celebrate the uniting of East and West Germany. It was performed in the restored Schauspiel
house, which had been completely destroyed during the war. It was restored to be one of the
world s finest concert halls. This performance was such a large, historic event that it was televised
in over 20 different countries. Lenard Bernstein even took this event as seriously as to change the
lyrics of the last movement from the German word for joy to the German word for freedom to
commemorate the momentous occasion. The performing forces for this event were quite elaborate.
The Bavereon Radio Orchestrawas joined by the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Orchestra of the
Leningrad Kirov Theatre, the London symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the
Paris Orchestra. In regards to vocalists, the Baverien Radio chorus sung in addition to the Berlin
radio chorus and the children s chorus of the Dresden Philharmonic. The soloists were June
Anderson, Sara Walker, Klaus Konig, and Jan Hendrik Rootering. One interesting thing to note
about the conductor is that while conducting the orchestra he didn t have any musicsheets. He knew
the music so well that he didn t need to have it in front of him.

Persuasive Speech On Secondhand Smoking
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Have you ever gotten in trouble for doing something that you had no part in? Did you feel
irritated when you had to suffer through the consequences? If so, then you are feeling the mutual
hatred just like non smokers. Individuals who do not smoke are suffering from the actions of the
people around them.
B. With intense and thorough research, I have seen that smoking in public does not only affect the
person, but also has an impact on the surrounding people and environment.
C. Today, I d like to talk to you about how banning smoking in public can lead to less secondhand
smoking and health effects, causing fewer environmental issues, and finally, supporting smokers in
giving up smoking.
(Transition into body of speech): I ll begin by telling you how non smokers are at risk by being
around smokers.
II. BODY
A. People who do not smoke, yet are around others who smoke, are in danger of secondhand
smoking.
Since I have asthma, I can relate to people with breathing related conditions, who are at a greater
danger of secondhand smoking, which can cause severe outcomes.
According to the state of Michigan, secondhand smoke can trigger asthma attack, bronchial
infections, and other severe health problems in nonsmokers.
Children with asthma around secondhand smoke have more severe and frequent asthma attacks,
which can put a child s life in danger.
Even for people without breathing conditions, breathing secondhand smoke for a brief period can
be deadly.
The Centers for Disease Control s warned that breathing drifting tobacco smoke for as little as 30
minutes can raise a non smoker s risk of suffering a fatal heart attack to that of a smoker.
Since 1964, over 2.5 million nonsmoker adults passed away due to secondhand smoke.
Secondhand smoke increases risks of certain diseases, such as heart disease and lung cancer.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, secondhand smoke causes over
34,000 premature deaths from heart disease per year in the U.S. among nonsmokers.
Nonsmokers exposed to smoking increase their risk of heart disease by 25 30%.
Even brief exposure to secondhand smoke can damage the lining of blood vessels and cause blood
platelets to become stickier,

Transcontinental Railroad
Transcontinental is going across a continent, and transcontinental railroads are the means that are
used to go across continents from Eastern to the Western part of United States. The Union Pacific
railroad offered railroad transport from New York on the Atlantic Coast, all the way to California,
on the Pacific Coast of United States. The project of the railroad terminated in 1869, which was
pioneered by two companies, which were Union Pacific and Central Pacific, built the railroad from
east and west, and they met at Utah. Central Pacific laborers mainly consisted of the Chinese, while
those in Union Pacific were mainly Irish. Both companies gave their workers harsh working
conditions. The railroad made a major impact on transcontinental transportation but was faced by
some dangers and difficulties.
Overland route, which was previously referred to as Pacific railroad is 3500 miles long. The main
funder of the railroad was the US government through the offering of higher loans and bonds
(Healey 460). Also, the government offered land grants for usage in the construction. 1830 was the
first time that a locomotive set off in the railroads, and that sparked the development of the rail
network in the country.
A bill was set, which was supposed to guide the construction of the railroad. Central Pacific
Railroad was supposed to start the construction in Sacramento and push towards the

A nerve conduction study measures the bodies electrical energy by assessing the nerves ability to
send a signal. And as a final precaution, the physician wants the patient to receive a MRI . A MRI
or magnetic resonance imaging is a non invasive imaging technique which uses a magnetic field
and radio waves to create an image of the brain and spinal cord.
Once the patient received all of his tests he met with his doctor to discuss the results. On the
patients EMG , results showed Abnormal, spontaneous activity,as well as fibrillations and
fasciculations in the patient s tongue. An EMG is used to investigate possible motor neurone
disease and detect widespread denervation and fasciculations. Fasciculations are not under voluntary
control, so they can be easily distinguished from voluntary movement. The patient s MRI results
showed that the patients corticospinal tracts were suffering from volume loss,as well as iron
deposits in the cortex which contributes to signal loss and neurodegenerative diseases. However
Both of these features are present in varying degrees in normal patients, so by itself these results
wouldn t stand out. But as results from other tests are put together with these results, a diagnosis
can become much easier.

Nasal Septoplasty Research Paper
Septoplasty
Septoplasty, also known as nasal septal reconstruction or nasal septoplasty, is a procedure to
straighten the wall that divides the nostrils inside the nose (septum). A misaligned, curved, or
angled septum may be present at birth or could be due to an injury. If the septum is severely out of
place (deviated), it may result in problems, such as difficulty breathing through the nose. The
internal structures that stick out from the side walls of the nose (turbinates) into the nasal passage
may also be trimmed (reduced) to help you breathe more easily.
This procedure may be done to treat:
Deviation of the nasal septum, which may cause difficulty breathing.

Influential Factors for an Effective Leader
Were CP China s changes to the CMF marketing launch program justifiable?
Burton s objective was to market Colgate Max Fresh (CMF) as global venture. Each country had
its own assumptions and trends that would make certain products popular. For CMF to appeal to a
Chinese market it had to investigate and target those specific selling appeals.
Del Levin, who was in charge of conducting R D for Colgate in Asia, discovered that that whilst a
potentially huge market existed for the product it being that Asia had a large freshness segment it
had to be marketed in a particular way in order to best appeal to the Asian consumer. Firstly, the
name itself Colgate Max Fresh did not appeal as well as other names in China would; the name was
therefore changed to Icy Fresh . Secondly, original marketing that used breath strips was
meaningless to an Asian market and would have been better modified to cooling crystals which was
more relevant and meaningful to Chinese consumers
Consumer surveys targeted to the Asian public carefully investigated the various nuances that
would make the product successful in China and, to that end, discovered that freshness was still a
relatively new concept to this particular market and that, therefore, careful research would have to
be done in order to precisely assess potential selling points. It would have to be the youth who
would be targeted and they would be targeted at an emotional level. Emily Proctor and her role
were unknown in China, and,

Essay On Hamlet Act 2
Often, the rising action of a play takes place in the second act. A rising action may include all the
decisions a character makes, character development, intensification of conflicts and of relationships.
All of these create the drama and tension that is needed to build up the climax of the story. In the
Shakespearean tragedy, Hamlet, Act II sets the scene for possible actions and conflicts in the
future. The transition from Act I to Act II helps the reader to identify development in important
characters, conflicts, and in relationships that will appropriately create the tension necessary
before the climax of the play. In Act I, Hamlet expresses his intense grief for the death of his
father and describes the world as an unweeded garden in his first soliloquy. Hamlet seems to be
severely depressed and is lacking the motivation to do anything. However, when he learns of the
details of his father s murder, he becomes enraged and determined to avenge his death. In Act II,
the reader is able to realize the change in Hamlet s formerly desolate... Show more content on

King Congo King Analysis
King Leopold set his focus on the Congo because he wanted to rule a colony of his own,
something bigger than just little old Belgium, and the Congo provided that. It had waterways
that connected the land, as well as people that he could use as slaves. A book that he had read
titled Java, or How to Manage a Colony had sparked Leopold s interest for a colony of his own
(Hochschild, p. 37). According to the quote, In the mid 1870s, sub Saharan Africawas a logical place
for an aspiring colonialist to look...about 80% of the entire land area of Africa was still under
indigenous rulers. It was ripe for conquest or, as Leopold was now learning to say, for protection
(Hochschild, p. 42), this land was an opportunity for Leopold to finally build a colony; especially
after Stanley had found the CongoRiver during an expedition. Leopold s purpose was shaped by a
desire not only for money but for power (Hochschild, p. 39). The Congo s resources were rubber
and ivory, ivory was made into false teeth, or piano pieces, among other things and this produced
a lot of profits once sold. However, the profits for rubber were much higher than that of ivory.
The land itself provides the power that Leopold wanted. Leopold was successful in the sense that
he did become the ruler of the Congo, he did gain profits out it, he did have slaves that built
railways, as well as an army made majority of its own people, the natives. Leopold failed in the
sense that he thought the truth would never come to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Accounting System
Accounting is an essential part in order for a business to operate, no matter the size is big or small,
accounting is still needed and equally important. Basically, accounting is dealing with the records
of transaction made in a period of time, analyzing transaction patterns and doing records such as
payroll, and counting taxes. In the end of the accounting process can study the health and the
efficiency of the business studied by looking at the information. Accounting is applied to all

My View Of Economic Injustices
Andrea Jefferson: I chose to write this draft because after reviewing each core reading and
comparing its material, I realized my view of economic injustices was very clouded. I was so
captured by Nick Hanauer s TED conference I completely forgot about any other issues concerning
problems in our economy. My target audience I am trying to reach is the struggling middle class
Americans who may be confused about what is putting the middle classin an unfavorable position
economically. By writing this essay, I was hoping to sway the readers with facts and possibly open
their minds to interpret and analyze different perspectives when it comes to the issues our middle
class faces.
Additionally, my draft was losing focus half way through the ... Show more content on

Republicans praise the middle class but preach that giving the wealthy tax breaks will give us
all relief in return. Which leads us all to ask, what is the true cause of middle class suffering? In
this analysis, I have selected The Phantom Menace: What War on the Middle Class by Clive
Crook and A TED Talk on Income Inequality by Nick Hanauer for comparison. These readings
place focus on issues within the middle class in America. Hanauer appears to think that low
wages and unfair taxation are the main culprit of middle class struggle. However, Clive Crook
feels strongly that these economic inequities are so small compared to other growing problems
for the middle class. Nick Hanauer holds a valid point about income inequality being an
important issue, but I am not convinced it is the largest problem the middle class faces. Clive
Crook s article leads me to believe a stifling combination of broken social systems and having a
class based system in general are more troubling for Middle Class America than economic
inequality itself.
Nick Hanauer is a self proclaimed capitalist. In his live conference A TED Talk on Income
Inequality , he speaks to the audience about tax policy and wages. He believes large tax cuts on
the upper class and their majority hold of America s shared income are significantly hurting middle
class families. He feels that these issues are causing a decline in consumerism, leaving a poor

International Relations Theories Realism vs. Liberalism
Introduction
Social humanitarian sciences focus on studying global political processes and the object of its
research are social phenomena, which are defined as international relations in the world we know.
International relations are comprised of many different categories, such as foreign policy,
international politics or world politics. However, the central issue of international politics is the
international relations. The term international relations has been first used by English philosopher

uncompromising struggle between states for power and influence, and not moral and legal
principles that define the foreign policy of a state. One of the baselines for political realism is the
clause of the anarchic nature of international relations. From this point of view, the anarchic nature
of relations
~3~
differentiates between international and intrastate relations, which are built on principle of
hierarchy, subordination, supremacy and obedience, formalized legal norms, out of which the
monopoly of government on the abuse of power within its sovereign territory state prevails all
other. Anarchic nature of world relations, from the viewpoint of realism, is defined by two
aspects: firstly, lack of unitary ruling party in the world structure, where orders by such party are
to be carried out by governments of all the states implicitly. Secondly, the imminence of each state
to rely on itself only, when standing up for its interests creates the anarchy. The followers of the
political realism theory base its belief on the absence of the supreme power, legal and moral norms,
capable on the basis of mutual agreement effectively regulate interrelations of main actors, and
thus, avert so destructible for them and the world wars and conflicts. Moreover, realism is based on
a very negative and unchanging conception of human nature bad

Bill Cosby Medal Of Freedom Analysis
Some people are requesting the US government to revoke Bill Cosby s Medal of Freedom, after
more details have emerged in the rape allegations against the comedian. On Wednesday (July
15th), President Obama addressed those seeking the revocation of Cosby s medal. There s no
precedent for revoking a medal. We don t have that mechanism, the President answered. While
most people may have expected President Obama to end his statement with that answer, he instead
commented on what he defines as rape. If you give a woman or a man, for that matter, without his
or her knowledge, a drug and then have sex with that person without consent, that s rape. This
country, and civilized country, should have no tolerance for rape, President Obama stated. Even
though Cosby continues to deny the rape allegations, an old deposition has surfaced and it now
appears the rape accusations made by countless women are true. During the deposition, Cosby
admitted he had prescriptions for quaaludes (a sedative), and he testified under oath that he gave a
woman the sedative. Cosby was then asked if he was going to use the quaaludes for women he

The Monkeys Paw Character Analysis
Zikera Newsome
6th period
03/07/17 The Monkeys Paw The Monkeys Paw by W.W Jacobs. This novel is taking place
inside and around the White family home, called Laburnum Villa. The novel is probably set
around the time it were to be published; in 1902.The author manipulate time by going slow. The
setting changes but it does not affect how the characters are in the novel. As the story progresses,
the house becomes progressively darker and spookier. He uses the horror genre to talk about
some very serious issues. Sgt. Major Morris tells the Whites that the old fakir who put the spell on

Sgt. Maj. Morris wanted to make three wishes because only three men could use it and the fakir
was the man who put a spell on the paw but it also is a curse. The character I relate to the most is
Mr. White because he is trying to protect the paw and people from it. Inside of the story is Man
vs. Man because Mr. White is making a decision to make a wish or let three other men make the
wishes their selves. Internal because man vs. man is inside decision he is having with himself.
The first thing that happened in the story that changed it was that Mr. White gave the paw away
for a trifle, second thing was that Mr. White came in with two hundred pound of British money,
and the third thing was a man getting hurt in the second scene. A mystery is the outcome of the
man disappearing without anyone knowing what happened. The monkeys paw is the central
idea of the story and everything is around that title from page 26 it says, It had a spell put on it
by an old Fakir, said the Sergeant Major, a very holy man. He wanted to show that fate ruled
people s lives, and that those who interfered with it did so to their sorrow. He put a spell on it so
that three separate men could each have three wishes from it. The first man

John F. Kennedy And Jfk
John F. Kennedy
My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your
country. This is one of the most famous quotes John F. Kennedy ever presented during his term as
president of these United States. Hello I am Miya Cole and in these next few minutes I will be
informing you about our thirty fifth president, John F. Kennedy.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy or better known as JFK was born May 29, 1917 in Brookline,
Massachusetts. JFK had a particularly big family which consisted of three brothers and four
sister. Kennedy lived in Brookline for 10 years and attended the Edward Devotion School, the
Noble and Greenough Lower School, and the Dexter School through 4th grade. In 1927, the
Kennedy family moved to New York City. Kennedy attended the lower campus of Riverdale
Country School, a private school for boys, from 5th to 7th grade. Two years later, the family
moved to the suburb of Bronxville, New York, where Kennedy was a member of Scout Troop 2. In
September 1930, Kennedy attended the Canterbury School in New Milford, Connecticut and about
a year later he had to leave Canterbury due an illness.
In September 1931, Kennedy was sent to the The Choate School in Wallingford, Connecticut for
9th through 12th grade. During his years there he sort of a trouble maker. He and his friend were
most notorious for using a cherry bomb or firecracker to explode toilet seats. In June of 1935
Kennedy graduated from Choate. In September 1936, Kennedy

Descriptive Essay On A Roller Coaster
Woah! That looks fun! Can we do that? I requested, articulating with amazement by what I had just
witnessed.
There are many other rides that we could go and ride, and you want to go on that horror? No way.
My brother conversed as if he had horrific encounters with the ride we were looking at.
But it looks like the most entertaining ride here. Come on, you are chickening out. Big fat loser.
You know I figure you are just going to keep debating on whether we should go or not so let us
just go. You have no idea what you re getting into by sitting in those seats up there. Sometimes you
make bad mistakes. Those mistakes can haunt you. Well, one of my mistakes was getting on a
roller coaster. When I was about 8 my family and I went to an amusement park. Just like every
other kid I was overwhelmed to hear that we were going to an amusement park. Just picturing all
of the exhilarating rides, marvelous fun, and humorous laughter made me feel rapturous and
ecstatic. When we went to the amusement park we went on all of the rides that we presumed
we would enjoy. We went on the bumper cars, go karts, and water rides but there was one ride in
particular that stood out to me. That one ride was a roller coaster. Roller coasters are the types of
rides that are very deceiving. They look very joyous and cool, but once you get on one you are
filled with anxiety and regret. All of the pessimistic thoughts flow through your brain and you know

The Story Of The Movie The Great Gatsby And Snow...
Heroes are found everywhere when Disney is involved. From a prince or princess to secretive
toys to the smallest forms of life on earth, a hero can be found in anyone. Being attached to one
or a few is entirely common. These certain characters may be the ones they look up to. Young
girls often choose to look up to a princess, although, they are not what they were over 50 years
ago. The very first Disney princess, Snow White, is purely a damsel in distress. The same goes
for Aurora who appeared in Sleeping Beauty years later. As the years have gone on, that weaker
vision of a princess has faded. The modern day princesses are anything but damsels needing to be
saved by a man. Rapunzel chooses to give up her freedom in order to save Flynn Rider s life.
Tiana works hard to provide for herself so she can chase her dream. Merida rejects what
everyone else thinks she should be and is true to herself. Elsa only needs the love from her
sister. This list will only get bigger as Disney continues to create these young female heroines. If
anything, Disney is preaching to young girls everywhere to be strong in a world that may play on
their faults or weaknesses. During a time strong feminist movements, Disney manages to satisfy
demands by allowing the girl to be the hero. Though Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are still
timeless classics, the princesses of today set a better example for young girls everywhere and that
is why they seem to be more attractive than the originals. Disney has a

Taking a Look at Global Warming
Natural and anthropogenic substances like green house gases that alter earth s energy budget
are drivers of climate change. Radiative forcing (RF) quantifies the change in energy fluxes
caused by changes in these drivers and positive RF leads to surface warming. The largest
contribution to total RF is caused by the increase in the atmospheric concentration of CO2 (1.68
W m 2) followed by CH4, Halo carbons and N2O since 1750 (IPCC 2013). According to IPCC
2013 the CO2 concentrations will raise unprecedentedly from 391 Parts per million (p.p.m) in
2011 to 550 700 p.p.m. by 2050 and to 670 936 by 2100. Ironically, most of the CO2 is mitigated
by plants with photosynthetic reaction that converts solar energy into energy stored in
carbohydrates. A lot of research has been done through last few decades, to investigate elevated
CO2 induced changes in plants and to identify potential candidate tree species that sequester more
CO2 under elevated CO2. Elevated CO2 enhances photosynthetic rate, reduces stomatal
conductance resulting in a higher amount of plant mass and yield.
Photosynthesis and growth of most plants are stimulated by elevated atmospheric CO2
concentrations (Schortemeyer 2002). The continuous stimulation of photosynthesis in C3 plants by
elevated CO2 increases the availability of carbohydrates and in doing so, alters the balance of C
and N resources. The main C N interactions proposed to influence responses to elevated CO2
include down regulation of leaf N

The Colonization Of The Colony Collapse Disorder
Introduction: The Colony Collapse Disorder is a strange occurrence in which worker bees from
different honeybee colonies just disappear. Honeybees, which are a crucial part of the U.S.
agriculture, have been under some drastic stress from the mysterious Colony Collapse Disorder,
which is a syndrome defined as a dead colony with no adult bees or dead bee bodies but with a
live queen, honey and juvenile bees still present in the hive. A scientific cause for the Colony
Collapse Disorder has yet to be proven. What has become of the adult bees after the Colony
Collapse Disorder? Body: Between 2006 2007, many beekeepers had begun to report losses of
30 90 percent of their hives. Close to 50 percent of the affected colonies have showed signs
inconsistent with the known causes of honeybee death (Colony). The main symptom of the
Colony Collapse Disorder is very low if not zero adult honeybees present in the hive, although a
live queen is still present. There are also no dead honeybee bodies present, and often still honey
and younger bees present in the hive. Verroa mites, a virus transmitting parasite of honeybees, are
often very frequently found in the hives that have been hit by Colony Collapse Disorder (Honey).
Beekeepers have experienced unexpected losses such as this before; research has shown many
other honeybee colonies seen losses during the 1880s, 1920s and 1960s. The descriptions of these
losses sound very similar to the Colony Collapse Disorder, although there is no way

Planet of the Apes Essay
Planet of the Apes
When Planet of the Apes opened in theaters, few people knew what to expect. To most, the idea of
a movie with the premise of a planet full of intelligent apes went against everything they had been
taught. The initial attraction was the superb cast, spearheaded by Charlton Heston who portrays
Taylor, an astronaut who crashes onto the planet. Heston was joined by many popular actors and
actress such as, Roddy McDowell as Cornelius, Maurice Evans as Dr. Zaius and Kim Hunter as
Zira. Though the cast may have been the initial draw, the content is what has made the movie
Planet of the Apes a classic that will continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.

To us, having one individual controlling both seems not only preposterous, but also dangerous. The
American mind immediately concludes that a system such as this will lead to stagnation in science,
and close mindedness in religion.
In Planet of the Apes this stagnation does occur. When a young upstart scientist named Cornelius
tries to attack the religiously based view of life in his society he is brought up on charges of
heresy. Cornelius merely attempted to state that he had found evidence that apes had evolved from
man. Defender of the faith Dr. Zaius then quickly ended the hearings and threatened Cornelius
with charges of hearsay. This is a direct link to our own past. Charles Darwin challenged religions
view on the origins of life in the 1800 s, and frighteningly similar things occurred to him.
This is what Planet of the Apes attempts to do, and accomplishes so thoroughly. It mirrors things
that have happened in our own world, yet portrays them in a way that makes humanity s own
shortcomings more palatable. Yet, there are two ways of interpreting the lessons the film teaches.
On one level, Planet of the Apes blatantly warns individuals not to repeat the past. While on another
level, the director could be interpreted to be stating subtly that we did not learn from our past and
are therefore doomed to repeat it. These interpretations wholly depend on the individual seeing the
film.

combining the event itself with technology making it available everywhere. Sports hold a valuable
place in the integrated marketing of entertainment content. The loyal fan base of each sport is a
ready and willing target for a wide variety of sponsorship, licensing and merchandising
opportunities, as well as convergence with other forms of entertainment, including television,

According to F1 s official Global Broadcast Report, F1 has more than 200 broadcasters
worldwide, televised in more than 185 countries and has an annual cumulative audience of over
2.7 billion viewers. An average of 600 million individual viewers watch each season during live
broadcasts in the world s top 20 TV markets (Formula 1 Racing, 2015). Of course, this number only
includes what we know from a broadcasting perspective; with the addition of the Internet and
mobile media, the reach is nearly unknown. Consumers have various conduits in which they can
watch F1 races, including the live sporting venues, online (Wi Fi, Ethernet, the Internet, Coaxial
cable) or on television (digital transmission, TVRO, UHF, VHF, free to air, cable).
Consumption
Consumers can now consume content through a wide variety of available resources. The most
common for Formula One is attending the live event at the assorted racetracks across the globe.
Many also use their computer or laptop to stream the event online. Others will use their TV to view
the event, though this can be limited to certain channels. Channel Ten offers F1 live streaming
through their free to air channel and online via TenPlay. Fox Sports airs the practices, qualifying
and final races through paid TV (The Daily Telegraph, 2015). Applications, mobiles and
smartphones are also available to use.

The Confederate Flag on School Grounds
Just like teaching any other topic in the Twenty First century, the topic of teaching The Confederate
Flag is controversial. Some people believe that you should not teach something with a negative
connotation attached to it. However others, including me, believe that teachers need to teach the
events that took place years prior, no matter the connotation.
In an insert in Huffington Post writer Krystie Yandoli talks about the recent trip she took to South

The Confederate Flag should be hung in the back of his classroom because he teaches about
slavery and the Civil War, so it is crucial in his teaching. However, I would think differently if
Mr. Schermerhorn was an English or science teacher because then the Confederate Flag would not
be beneficial in his teaching. Brakkton Booker quoted Jim Webb stating, The Confederate battle
flag was a battle flag; it assumed a lot of unfortunate racist and divisionist overtones during the
civil rights era.... He added that it was important, though, to remember the very complicated
decision a young person being called to duty during the Civil War era had to make. Jim Webb is
validating that it is good for students to know what occurred in the history of our country. However,
if there was ever any discussion about Mr. Schermerhorn supporting and teaching why a student
should support slavery, then there should be a concern. There is a major difference between
hanging and supporting the Confederate Flag.
Students everywhere should not be restricted from learning because of the connotation of a subject
or teaching device. Students should be able to rightfully learn and be taught what has occurred in
our history. This being said, there are concerns for teachers if they start to share their belief and
support a controversial subject, or if they are hanging

Pig Taphonomic Bodies
A comparison of decomposition patterns in human bodies versus pig bodies and the reliability of
pig taphonomic facilities.
Taphonomy is described as the study of the stages of decomposition that lead to fossilization and it
originates from a subsection of Forensic Anthropology. All over the world there are various
taphonomic facilities, dedicated to the study of decay in both humans and animals, most notably
pigs. These facilities are founded to help Scientists gain an understanding of how human
decomposition progresses in various simulated conditions that are comparable to the conditions
found at different crime scenes. The information gained through this research is vital in enabling
Pathologists and Forensic Anthropologists to make advances in determining the time of death of
recovered bodies. This essay will cover the similarities between human and pig decomposition and
consider whether pig taphonomic facilities are a valid source of data to be used in the place of

The Weight Reduction Of The Drive Shaft
Abstract Almost all automobiles (at least those which correspond to design with rear wheel drive
and front engine installation) have transmission shafts. The weight reduction of the drive shaft
can have a certain role in the general weight reduction of the vehicle and is a highly desirable
goal, if it can be achieved without increase in cost and decrease in quality and reliability. It is
possible to achieve design of composite drive shaft with less weight to increase the first natural
frequency of the shaft and to decrease the bending stresses using various stacking sequences. By
doing the same, maximize the torque transmission and torsional buckling capabilities are also
maximized.
Key Words: Propeller shaft, Drive shaft, optimization, Composite material, Composite drive shaft
design etc. INTRODUCTION
The advanced composite materials such as Graphite, Carbon, Kevlar and Glass with suitable resins
are widely used because of their high specific strength (strength / density) and high specific modulus
(modulus / density). Advanced composite materials seem ideally suited for long, power driver shaft
(propeller shaft) applications. Their elastic properties can be tailored to increase the torque they can
carry as well as the rotational speed at which they operate. The drive shafts are used in automotive,
aircraft and aerospace applications. The automotive industry is exploiting composite material
technology for structural components construction in order to obtain the reduction

America s Dirty Little Secret of Narcotics

life s to fund their habit. There have been many news stories about people killing their own
family members to get money for drugs. Money is the common denominator. Many drug dealers
are either greedy or fund their own drug habit through selling drugs. Since it s an illegal trade,
people can set the prices as high or low as they want to. The main problem is that it is a cheap and
easy alternative to natural highs, like exercising or going on a rollercoaster. Those things take time
and energy to earn, whereas someone can go get enough herointo get high on the street for less than
twenty dollars. When people become addicted to these narcotics, their body becomes dependent on
it, like a hunger if they go to long without it they experience withdrawal symptoms. The withdrawal
from these drugs can be too much for some people,

An man from India deeply influenced a black man in America...
An man from India deeply influenced a black man in America who persuaded black Americans
to peacefully seek civil rights. Blacks in America were once slaves. They had neither freedom
nor rights. Now, in the 20th century, segregation has been abolished and discrimination has
largely been reduced and blacks are more able to live freely as American citizens. In Early 1950
s, blacks did not have civil rights, so they had to fight for their freedom by protesting. In 1955,
blacks decided to rally together for social justice and planned a boycott. This boycott became
known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This boycott was pivotal in the Civil Right Movement by
energizing blacks, particularly in the South, to become more involved in politics. This... Show more

These laws were applied to the use of everything such as, bathrooms, water fountains, restaurants
and buses. The enforcement of the Jim Crow laws was one of the key factors for the Montgomery
Bus Boycott, initiated by determined black women. People today know Rosa Parks as the pivotal
for the main cause of Montgomery Bus Boycott, but it was not just her, it was also Claudette
Colvin. She was one of the four women who got arrested nine months before Parks in March
1955. Colvin s situation was similar to Parks; Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white
passenger on a Montgomery bus . Claudette was only fifteen years old at the time of the arrest.
She was also a member of the NAACP Youth Council. The NAACP wanted to test the
Montgomery Bus System by assigning black women to challenging the Jim Crow law on buses
in Montgomery, AL. After her arrest, even though she was a youth, the NAACP thought Colvin
would be their key to their rebellion, but could not happen because she later became pregnant.
During her pregnancy, Colvin testified in the Montgomery federal court on the hearing of the
Browder v. Gayle case. Her performance of that civil disobedience did not spark the bus boycott
as Parks did, but did started something that Rosa Parks finished. The elevation of the bus conflict
increased on December 1, 1955, when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person.
There was a law that allowed white bus drivers to expand the whites

The American Flag Essay
First I would like to include some information about our american flag and how it came about. In
the British colonies of North America before the Revolution, each of the 13 colonies had its flag.
On Jan. 2, 1776, the first flag of the United States was raised at Cambridge, Mass., by George
Washington. Known as the Grand Union flag, it consisted of 13 stripes, alternate red and white,
with a blue canton bearing the crosses of St. Georgeand St. Andrew. Congress, on June 14, 1777,
enacted a resolution that the Flag of the United States be 13 stripes alternate red and white, that the
Union be 13 stars white in a blue field representing a new constellation. On Jan. 13, 1794, Vermont
and Kentucky having been admitted to the Union,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Colonel George Ross was a respected Philadelphian and also the uncle of her late husband, John
Ross.
Naturally, Betsy Ross already knew George Ross as she had married his nephew. Furthermore,
Betsy was also acquainted with the great General Washington. Not only did they both worship at
Christ Church in Philadelphia, but Betsy s pew was next to George and Martha Washington s
pew. Her daughter recalled, That she was previously well acquainted with Washington, and that he
had often been in her house in friendly visits, as well as on business. That she had embroidered
ruffles for his shirt bosoms and cuffs, and that it was partly owing to his friendship for her that she
was chosen to make the flag.
In June 1776, brave Betsy was a widow struggling to run her own upholstery business.
Upholsterers in colonial America not only worked on furniture but did all manner of sewing work,
which for some included making flags. According to Betsy, General Washington showed her a
rough design of the flag that included a six pointed star.
Betsy, a standout with the scissors, demonstrated . Impressed, the committee entrusted Betsy with
making our first flag.
Until that time, colonies and militias used many different flags. Some are famous, such as the
Rattlesnake Flag used by the Continental Navy, with its venomous challenge, Don t Tread on Me.
Next I would like to try to explain what it represents to me. The american flag to me stands for

Early Christian Religion Research Paper
The early Christian church made no distinction between sin and suffering, and repentance and
healing. (p. 34) The Scripture equates sickness with unclean spirits and demonic activity. Early
Christians understood the relationship between sin and sickness and acted accordingly (see James
5:14,15). Jesus taught the disciples the relationship between sin and sickness. In the early church
repentance and healing went hand in hand. Unfortunately, in today s church the first call of a sick
Christian is to their doctor or hospital. We have turned to the secular world for a healing, which
they cannot offer. Satan s footprint is everywhere in the medical field. I am reminded of a
Scripture, which says that man is always searching for knowledge but never

The Rabbit Proof Fence, Remembering Babylon, And Puddn
Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence, Remembering Babylon, and Puddn head Wilson all contain
numerous references to borders of various kinds, both literal and figurative. Focusing on two of the
above texts, answer the following question: what do these borders represent?
The ideas of borders, boundaries and border crossings are increasingly employed in a
metaphorical sense that does not always refer to the physical border. These borders are
progressively used to represent social and cultural boundaries. A cultural border indicates that a
more powerful side constructs it s own cultural knowledge and has added political power and
privileges. When understanding the concept of borders, it is important to understand that borders
are being referred to in a literal sense and in a figurative sense. The term literal can be referred to
as taking words in their most basic sense without adding exaggeration or metaphorical meaning.
The term figurative can be described to as departing from the literal use of words and adding
metaphorical meaning. Figurative notions of borders within race have been a primary concern for
the novels Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence by Doris Pilkington and Remembering Babylon by David
Malouf. This essay will discuss and analyze the concept of figurative borders and what these
borders represent. Lastly, this essay will explore in detail the concept of figurative borders within
the two novels. Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence and Remembering Babylon have numerous

Free Chapel Report
This week I spent a great amount of exploring the space at Free Chapel. I went on Wednesday

inside the church is very large, and it consist of two different level with a wide variety of room

people outside know what the space is being used for, before they even enter the building. In
contrast, as I began to walk around the space I realized that there besides for a bible quote on one

Cosby Show Family Values
Family values have always been major conversation matter in the United States and it is often
huge key points when it comes to decision making by politicians and business. Many people
asked the question of how a single person perceives those values. The answer to that is people
often judge family values through two sides of the spectrum, one side being how normal other
people behaves towards each other, and the second side being how they believe others families
behave. Nowadays, people in our society are heavily influence about familyvalues based on what
others tell them, and most importantly, based on what they view on television. Some television
shows such as Friends or The Cosby Show has become such huge hits in the country because
people are curious about how people function as a whole or within their own families. However,
the images of family that were portrayed by those TV shows often too perfect compare to the
reality. It was not until 1987 when Fox Network decided to bring a dysfunctional family known as
The Simpsons, the television has successfully mirrored every type of family in America. Each
member of the Simpsons had different qualities and struggles, they are unique in their own way

The Ancestor s Tale By Richard Dawkins Essay
Thylacinus had stripes like a tiger, body like a dog, and a pouch like a kangaroo. They were
marsupials but behaved more like wolves than marsupials (which makes them an excellent example
of convergent evolution). They became extinct in Australia and New Guinea because of their
incompetence against the dingoes, an invasive species brought by the aboriginal men. Nevertheless,
some were left in Tasmania as the dingoes did not reach there, but died out soon after Europeans
arrived there.
Similar story includes the dodo s tale which is illustrated perfectly by Richard Dawkins in his book
The Ancestor s Tale: A Pilgrimage to the Dawn of Evolution When Portuguese sailors arrived on
Mauritius in 1507, the abundant dodos were completely tame, and approached the sailors in a
manner which cannot have been far from trusting . The unfortunate dodos were clubbed to death by
Portuguese, and later Dutch, sailors even though they were deemed unpalatable. Extinction took less
than two centuries. As so often, it came about through a combination of killing and more indirect
effects. Humans introduced dogs, pigs, rats, and religious refugees. The first three ate dodo eggs,
and the last planted sugar cane and destroyed habitats (Dawkins).
All the tales of these extinct species have one thing in common a species live in harmony in its
home until an invasive species destroy them, and humans are the antagonist in each story. The sick
thing is we are still in the middle of and part of

  • 2. The British s Involvement During The 1947-1948 War Of... Chenika Bukes Over 20,000 people were murdered during the 1947 1948 War of Independence. The British s involvement in the conflict during the 1910 s 1940 s is responsible for those deaths through a narrative of events in the upcoming years to the war. The British fuelled the Arab Israeli conflict by antagonising the Palestinian Arabs, by sentencing the Jewish people to death and by beginning the 1947 1948 Mandatory Palestine war of independence. The Arab Israeli conflict roughly began with minor disagreements and altercations since the late 19th century up until present day. Whenever the British got involved in the conflict, something seemed to go wrong. The Arabs were antagonised by the British when the McMahon agreement was not seen through. The White paper, commissioned by the British, created a death sentence for the Jewish people Dr.Weizmann (1939, June), and when the British withdrew from the conflict a series of events led to the 1947 1948 war of independence. The McMahon Agreement was constituted on the 24th of October 1915 between the Meccans and the British. Upon the rise of Arab nationalism, the Arabs (Meccans) pursued independence from the Ottoman Empire. Amir Abdullah, son of Hussein Bin Ali the Sharif of Mecca, visited the British general consul in Egypt in February of 1914. His incentive was to verify that the British will recognise Arab independence if they support the British in war with purpose to abdicate the Ottoman Turks. Then in 1917 the ... • 3. How Has The Telegraph Changed Society Newer technologies, such as the telephone and the Internet, are based on the concept of the telegraph. Like the telegraph, they use electricity to transmit information from one location to another. Each new communicating technology has had an impact on society, greater than the one before. The telegraph changed society indirectly, by transforming the workings of government and industry. The Telegraph and Morse Codeinvention was also used to make historic announcements. One way that it was first used in this way was to bring the news of the death of Prince Albert in 1861. A telegram was also sent to the current Queen Elizabeth to let her know about the death of her father when she was on tour in Kenya. Also, modern newspapers were enabled by ... • 4. International Trade Shaped The Economy, Culture And... First of all, I agree with the statement that, International trade shaped the economy, culture and civilization of many Central Asian Silk Road societies in the pre Mongol era . The explanation of the term International trade literally means the exchange of goods between different countries in the world. On the other hand, the aim of the international trade is to spread the culture and absorb the new culture and things in in order to make a better society. The Silk Road was the first step that starts to exchange the culture, economy civilization, and also political between China and the western countries. This International trade made a great contribution to the world. In this essay, I will focus on the International trade on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the Mongolia Empire occupied land by the violence war, they still Unified Eurasia for the first time, which makes the international trade become easier. Early in the Liao Dynasty, the Mongol tribes have started to trade the goods like cattle, sheep, horses and fur with Khitan. Besides, Before the Mongolia Empire established, the Mongolian nomads continued to trade goods with neighboring people. The political and military strength of Mongol Empire is powerful provides a more favorable political environment for the Silk Road. Besides, the trade of the Mogol Silk Road is Relative prosperity, and it is the basis for the development of Tang Song dynasties Silk Road trade. The nomad empires are relatively stable, and the international trade became more frequent. That is not a coincidence; the reason is that the Mongol Empire ruled the Eurasia during that period. On the other hand, Silk Road is a rebirth of the economic trade, especially during the Mongolia empire period. As I mentioned, the pre Mongol era is like a turning point for the international trading s rise, because along the ancient Silk Road, there are a lot of countries, especially the countries of Central Asia. The international trade became the only way to promote the development of the economic.1 The construction of the Silk Road is like a economic belt to link China and the western ... • 5. Virtue Ethics Research Paper Virtue ethics contends that to live ethically is to live virtuously, and conversely, to live virtuously is to live ethically. This roots in Nichomachean Ethics and Aristotelian philosophy that to cultivate a happy life over time, one must make a habit of excellence as it does not come from singular acts. Vaughn presents this as, what should I be? A virtue ethicist is not concerned, or defined by acts alone, but the virtues that motivate them such as compassion, honesty, and loyalty. This also relates to a whole being, again harkening back to Aristotle, rather than just a rule or principle being followed as a matter of rightness. To reference on the website http://www.pursuit of happiness.org/, Aristotle said that, for the same reason we cannot say that children are happy, any more than we can say an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His example: the right action is performed by a virtuous person and a virtuous person performs the right action can be likened to the question of which came first, the chicken or the egg? To end the debate, additional ethical models must be applied and this leads away from pure virtue ethics. Certainly, all people should want to do what is right and live a life of happiness, but there comes a point where one is likely to have to apply something more than virtue to a situation (i.e. the examples at the end of the chapter where the decision is more between two or virtues than what is simply right or wrong). This is where Aristotle has given additional, well thought guidance in applying Golden Means, the balance between two extremes. And not just the most extreme in the strictest definitions, but rather as applied to everyone given their situation, their life, their decisions and the basis for them as well as the virtue in question. To live the sum of a happy life, all things should be considered with this in mind, aka all things in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most students who undergo SAT test preparation are pretty familiar with the SAT test pattern. Being good at one of the sections does not guarantee a good SAT exam score. To aid you in your SAT test preparation let me share with you a few strategies that I also use in my tutoring. Let us talk about the Math section first. The SAT test, according to many, carries complex math problems. This is far from being true. Actually, SAT math consists of basic math questions. Unlike many other tests, the SAT does not ask questions from pre calculus, calculus or trigonometry. This does not at all mean that you would encounter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Ever Since It Was Abolished In Britain In 1965, There Have Ever since it was abolished in Britain in 1965, there have been calls to reinstate capital punishment. Controversial at the time and even more controversial now, the death penalty has always divided the people and parliament. The view points In the UK differ from person to person. Some call for the death penalty to be re established due to the so called law of retaliation: an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth . However on the contrary others believe that all life is precious and that the death penalty should be eradicated. I believe that it should stay abolished as whatever the crimea human person has the human right to live and that life is sacred. Contrasting to my view points, a plentiful bunch of people accept as true; that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This uncontrollable possibility of an innocent being killed is a risk that should not be taken lightly which is why it should not be reinstated. If the death penalty were to be reestablished in the UK it would show that we as a civilized society have now returned to medieval practices which do not belong in 1st world countries as the likelihood of killing innocents is sooner or later going to happen and Would you want the blood of a blameless victim on your hands? Secondly, every living breathing human has the right to live. There entire existence is special and execution violates this indisputable right that all possess even if they have committed an abysmal crime. A counter point that many suggest is that when they do these actions they are giving up there human right to live however two wrongs do not make a right and taking the man s life would just not be justice. Furthermore it is not the place of another human to decide whether someone lives or dies. If the death penalty were to be reestablished in the UK it would show that the UK does not take in to considerations humans core right, the right to live therefore making them look ignorant. As well as that the death penalty is described as a deterrent to stop people from committing serious violent crimes. However contrary to popular belief it has been a failure to do so. • 8. The Performance Of The Symphony No.9 The performance of the Symphony No.9 by Beethoven, conducted by Lenard Bernstein, was a magnificent piece that captured all the emotion of the people, from the sorrow of those lost in the war to the joy of the freedom they had just acquired. This piece was placed in Berlin to celebrate the uniting of East and West Germany. It was performed in the restored Schauspiel house, which had been completely destroyed during the war. It was restored to be one of the world s finest concert halls. This performance was such a large, historic event that it was televised in over 20 different countries. Lenard Bernstein even took this event as seriously as to change the lyrics of the last movement from the German word for joy to the German word for freedom to commemorate the momentous occasion. The performing forces for this event were quite elaborate. The Bavereon Radio Orchestrawas joined by the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Orchestra of the Leningrad Kirov Theatre, the London symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Paris Orchestra. In regards to vocalists, the Baverien Radio chorus sung in addition to the Berlin radio chorus and the children s chorus of the Dresden Philharmonic. The soloists were June Anderson, Sara Walker, Klaus Konig, and Jan Hendrik Rootering. One interesting thing to note about the conductor is that while conducting the orchestra he didn t have any musicsheets. He knew the music so well that he didn t need to have it in front of him. ... • 9. Persuasive Speech On Secondhand Smoking I. INTRODUCTION A. Have you ever gotten in trouble for doing something that you had no part in? Did you feel irritated when you had to suffer through the consequences? If so, then you are feeling the mutual hatred just like non smokers. Individuals who do not smoke are suffering from the actions of the people around them. B. With intense and thorough research, I have seen that smoking in public does not only affect the person, but also has an impact on the surrounding people and environment. C. Today, I d like to talk to you about how banning smoking in public can lead to less secondhand smoking and health effects, causing fewer environmental issues, and finally, supporting smokers in giving up smoking. (Transition into body of speech): I ll begin by telling you how non smokers are at risk by being around smokers. II. BODY A. People who do not smoke, yet are around others who smoke, are in danger of secondhand smoking. Since I have asthma, I can relate to people with breathing related conditions, who are at a greater danger of secondhand smoking, which can cause severe outcomes. According to the state of Michigan, secondhand smoke can trigger asthma attack, bronchial infections, and other severe health problems in nonsmokers. Children with asthma around secondhand smoke have more severe and frequent asthma attacks, which can put a child s life in danger. Even for people without breathing conditions, breathing secondhand smoke for a brief period can be deadly. The Centers for Disease Control s warned that breathing drifting tobacco smoke for as little as 30 minutes can raise a non smoker s risk of suffering a fatal heart attack to that of a smoker. Since 1964, over 2.5 million nonsmoker adults passed away due to secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke increases risks of certain diseases, such as heart disease and lung cancer. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, secondhand smoke causes over 34,000 premature deaths from heart disease per year in the U.S. among nonsmokers.

  • 13. Problems Of The Transcontinental Railroad Dennis Osei Acheampong Prof. James Garcia US History 102 11/30/2017 Transcontinental Railroad Transcontinental is going across a continent, and transcontinental railroads are the means that are used to go across continents from Eastern to the Western part of United States. The Union Pacific railroad offered railroad transport from New York on the Atlantic Coast, all the way to California, on the Pacific Coast of United States. The project of the railroad terminated in 1869, which was pioneered by two companies, which were Union Pacific and Central Pacific, built the railroad from east and west, and they met at Utah. Central Pacific laborers mainly consisted of the Chinese, while those in Union Pacific were mainly Irish. Both companies gave their workers harsh working conditions. The railroad made a major impact on transcontinental transportation but was faced by some dangers and difficulties. Overland route, which was previously referred to as Pacific railroad is 3500 miles long. The main funder of the railroad was the US government through the offering of higher loans and bonds (Healey 460). Also, the government offered land grants for usage in the construction. 1830 was the first time that a locomotive set off in the railroads, and that sparked the development of the rail network in the country. A bill was set, which was supposed to guide the construction of the railroad. Central Pacific Railroad was supposed to start the construction in Sacramento and push towards the ... Once the patient received all of his tests he met with his doctor to discuss the results. On the patients EMG , results showed Abnormal, spontaneous activity,as well as fibrillations and fasciculations in the patient s tongue. An EMG is used to investigate possible motor neurone disease and detect widespread denervation and fasciculations. Fasciculations are not under voluntary control, so they can be easily distinguished from voluntary movement. The patient s MRI results showed that the patients corticospinal tracts were suffering from volume loss,as well as iron deposits in the cortex which contributes to signal loss and neurodegenerative diseases. However Both of these features are present in varying degrees in normal patients, so by itself these results wouldn t stand out. • 16. Influential Factors for an Effective Leader Were CP China s changes to the CMF marketing launch program justifiable? Burton s objective was to market Colgate Max Fresh (CMF) as global venture. Each country had its own assumptions and trends that would make certain products popular. For CMF to appeal to a Chinese market it had to investigate and target those specific selling appeals. Del Levin, who was in charge of conducting R D for Colgate in Asia, discovered that that whilst a potentially huge market existed for the product it being that Asia had a large freshness segment it had to be marketed in a particular way in order to best appeal to the Asian consumer. Firstly, the name itself Colgate Max Fresh did not appeal as well as other names in China would; the name was therefore changed to Icy Fresh . Secondly, original marketing that used breath strips was meaningless to an Asian market and would have been better modified to cooling crystals which was more relevant and meaningful to Chinese consumers Consumer surveys targeted to the Asian public carefully investigated the various nuances that would make the product successful in China and, to that end, discovered that freshness was still a relatively new concept to this particular market and that, therefore, careful research would have to be done in order to precisely assess potential selling points. It would have to be the youth who would be targeted and they would be targeted at an emotional level. Emily Proctor and her role were unknown in China, and, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Essay On Hamlet Act 2 Often, the rising action of a play takes place in the second act. A rising action may include all the decisions a character makes, character development, intensification of conflicts and of relationships. All of these create the drama and tension that is needed to build up the climax of the story. In the Shakespearean tragedy, Hamlet, Act II sets the scene for possible actions and conflicts in the future. The transition from Act I to Act II helps the reader to identify development in important characters, conflicts, and in relationships that will appropriately create the tension necessary before the climax of the play. In Act I, Hamlet expresses his intense grief for the death of his father and describes the world as an unweeded garden in his first soliloquy. Hamlet seems to be severely depressed and is lacking the motivation to do anything. However, when he learns of the details of his father s murder, he becomes enraged and determined to avenge his death. • 19. King Congo King Analysis King Leopold set his focus on the Congo because he wanted to rule a colony of his own, something bigger than just little old Belgium, and the Congo provided that. It had waterways that connected the land, as well as people that he could use as slaves. A book that he had read titled Java, or How to Manage a Colony had sparked Leopold s interest for a colony of his own (Hochschild, p. 37). According to the quote, In the mid 1870s, sub Saharan Africawas a logical place for an aspiring colonialist to look...about 80% of the entire land area of Africa was still under indigenous rulers. It was ripe for conquest or, as Leopold was now learning to say, for protection (Hochschild, p. 42), this land was an opportunity for Leopold to finally build a colony; especially after Stanley had found the CongoRiver during an expedition. Leopold s purpose was shaped by a desire not only for money but for power (Hochschild, p. 39). The Congo s resources were rubber and ivory, ivory was made into false teeth, or piano pieces, among other things and this produced a lot of profits once sold. However, the profits for rubber were much higher than that of ivory. The land itself provides the power that Leopold wanted. Leopold was successful in the sense that he did become the ruler of the Congo, he did gain profits out it, he did have slaves that built railways, as well as an army made majority of its own people, the natives. These readings place focus on issues within the middle class in America. Hanauer appears to think that low wages and unfair taxation are the main culprit of middle class struggle. However, Clive Crook feels strongly that these economic inequities are so small compared to other growing problems for the middle class. Nick Hanauer holds a valid point about income inequality being an important issue, but I am not convinced it is the largest problem the middle class faces. Clive Crook s article leads me to believe a stifling combination of broken social systems and having a class based system in general are more troubling for Middle Class America than economic inequality itself. International Relations Theories Realism vs. Liberalism Introduction Social humanitarian sciences focus on studying global political processes and the object of its research are social phenomena, which are defined as international relations in the world we know. International relations are comprised of many different categories, such as foreign policy, international politics or world politics. However, the central issue of international politics is the international relations. The term international relations has been first used by English philosopher J. Bentham at the end of 18th century. It is important to note that it is not accidentally that the term appeared at that particular time, as the border line of 18 19th centuries is marked by evolution of the international relations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the core of realism theory, with its understanding of world politics remains the same uncompromising struggle between states for power and influence, and not moral and legal principles that define the foreign policy of a state. One of the baselines for political realism is the clause of the anarchic nature of international relations. From this point of view, the anarchic nature of relations ~3~ differentiates between international and intrastate relations, which are built on principle of hierarchy, subordination, supremacy and obedience, formalized legal norms, out of which the monopoly of government on the abuse of power within its sovereign territory state prevails all other. Anarchic nature of world relations, from the viewpoint of realism, is defined by two aspects: firstly, lack of unitary ruling party in the world structure, where orders by such party are to be carried out by governments of all the states implicitly. Secondly, the imminence of each state to rely on itself only, when standing up for its interests creates the anarchy. The followers of the political realism theory base its belief on the absence of the supreme power, legal and moral norms, capable on the basis of mutual agreement effectively regulate interrelations of main actors, and thus, avert so destructible for them and the world wars and conflicts. From a prince or princess to secretive toys to the smallest forms of life on earth, a hero can be found in anyone. Being attached to one or a few is entirely common. These certain characters may be the ones they look up to. Young girls often choose to look up to a princess, although, they are not what they were over 50 years ago. The very first Disney princess, Snow White, is purely a damsel in distress. The same goes for Aurora who appeared in Sleeping Beauty years later. As the years have gone on, that weaker vision of a princess has faded. The modern day princesses are anything but damsels needing to be saved by a man. Rapunzel chooses to give up her freedom in order to save Flynn Rider s life. Tiana works hard to provide for herself so she can chase her dream. Merida rejects what everyone else thinks she should be and is true to herself. Elsa only needs the love from her sister. If anything, Disney is preaching to young girls everywhere to be strong in a world that may play on their faults or weaknesses. During a time strong feminist movements, Disney manages to satisfy demands by allowing the girl to be the hero. • 30. Taking a Look at Global Warming Natural and anthropogenic substances like green house gases that alter earth s energy budget are drivers of climate change. Radiative forcing (RF) quantifies the change in energy fluxes caused by changes in these drivers and positive RF leads to surface warming. The largest contribution to total RF is caused by the increase in the atmospheric concentration of CO2 (1.68 W m 2) followed by CH4, Halo carbons and N2O since 1750 (IPCC 2013). According to IPCC 2013 the CO2 concentrations will raise unprecedentedly from 391 Parts per million (p.p.m) in 2011 to 550 700 p.p.m. by 2050 and to 670 936 by 2100. Ironically, most of the CO2 is mitigated by plants with photosynthetic reaction that converts solar energy into energy stored in carbohydrates. A lot of research has been done through last few decades, to investigate elevated CO2 induced changes in plants and to identify potential candidate tree species that sequester more CO2 under elevated CO2. Elevated CO2 enhances photosynthetic rate, reduces stomatal conductance resulting in a higher amount of plant mass and yield. Photosynthesis and growth of most plants are stimulated by elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations (Schortemeyer 2002). The continuous stimulation of photosynthesis in C3 plants by elevated CO2 increases the availability of carbohydrates and in doing so, alters the balance of C and N resources. The main C N interactions proposed to influence responses to elevated CO2 include down regulation of leaf N ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Honeybees, which are a crucial part of the U.S. agriculture, have been under some drastic stress from the mysterious Colony Collapse Disorder, which is a syndrome defined as a dead colony with no adult bees or dead bee bodies but with a live queen, honey and juvenile bees still present in the hive. A scientific cause for the Colony Collapse Disorder has yet to be proven. What has become of the adult bees after the Colony Collapse Disorder? Body: Between 2006 2007, many beekeepers had begun to report losses of 30 90 percent of their hives. Close to 50 percent of the affected colonies have showed signs inconsistent with the known causes of honeybee death (Colony). The main symptom of the Colony Collapse Disorder is very low if not zero adult honeybees present in the hive, although a live queen is still present. There are also no dead honeybee bodies present, and often still honey and younger bees present in the hive. Verroa mites, a virus transmitting parasite of honeybees, are often very frequently found in the hives that have been hit by Colony Collapse Disorder (Honey). Beekeepers have experienced unexpected losses such as this before; research has shown many other honeybee colonies seen losses during the 1880s, 1920s and 1960s. To us, having one individual controlling both seems not only preposterous, but also dangerous. The American mind immediately concludes that a system such as this will lead to stagnation in science, and close mindedness in religion. In Planet of the Apes this stagnation does occur. When a young upstart scientist named Cornelius tries to attack the religiously based view of life in his society he is brought up on charges of heresy. Cornelius merely attempted to state that he had found evidence that apes had evolved from man. Defender of the faith Dr. Zaius then quickly ended the hearings and threatened Cornelius with charges of hearsay. This is a direct link to our own past. Charles Darwin challenged religions view on the origins of life in the 1800 s, and frighteningly similar things occurred to him. This is what Planet of the Apes attempts to do, and accomplishes so thoroughly. It mirrors things that have happened in our own world, yet portrays them in a way that makes humanity s own shortcomings more palatable. Yet, there are two ways of interpreting the lessons the film teaches. On one level, Planet of the Apes blatantly warns individuals not to repeat the past. While on another level, the director could be interpreted to be stating subtly that we did not learn from our past and are therefore doomed to repeat it. These interpretations wholly depend on the individual seeing the film. Planet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people believe that you should not teach something with a negative connotation attached to it. However others, including me, believe that teachers need to teach the events that took place years prior, no matter the connotation. In an insert in Huffington Post writer Krystie Yandoli talks about the recent trip she took to South Carolina. In this trip, she has seen The Confederate Flag being hung all around. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Confederate Flag should be hung in the back of his classroom because he teaches about slavery and the Civil War, so it is crucial in his teaching. However, I would think differently if Mr. Schermerhorn was an English or science teacher because then the Confederate Flag would not be beneficial in his teaching. Brakkton Booker quoted Jim Webb stating, The Confederate battle flag was a battle flag; it assumed a lot of unfortunate racist and divisionist overtones during the civil rights era.... He added that it was important, though, to remember the very complicated decision a young person being called to duty during the Civil War era had to make. Jim Webb is validating that it is good for students to know what occurred in the history of our country. However, if there was ever any discussion about Mr. Schermerhorn supporting and teaching why a student should support slavery, then there should be a concern. There is a major difference between hanging and supporting the Confederate Flag. Students everywhere should not be restricted from learning because of the connotation of a subject or teaching device. Students should be able to rightfully learn and be taught what has occurred in our history. This being said, there are concerns for teachers if they start to share their belief and support a controversial subject, or if they are hanging ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The weight reduction of the drive shaft can have a certain role in the general weight reduction of the vehicle and is a highly desirable goal, if it can be achieved without increase in cost and decrease in quality and reliability. It is possible to achieve design of composite drive shaft with less weight to increase the first natural frequency of the shaft and to decrease the bending stresses using various stacking sequences. By doing the same, maximize the torque transmission and torsional buckling capabilities are also maximized. We are in a war right now, a war with 23.5 million Americans in the crossfire. A battle is happening against America s public enemy number one , drug abuse, proclaimed by President Richard Nixon in 1971. Fighting the war on drugs is charged to the police officers around America who go out every day and work to curb the use of drugs in this country. One big problem is the drug problem s direct relationship to crime. When people become addicted to drugs they spend all the money and drain all the resources from their life s to fund their habit. There have been many news stories about people killing their own family members to get money for drugs. Money is the common denominator. Many drug dealers are either greedy or fund their own drug habit through selling drugs. Since it s an illegal trade, people can set the prices as high or low as they want to. The main problem is that it is a cheap and easy alternative to natural highs, like exercising or going on a rollercoaster. Those things take time and energy to earn, whereas someone can go get enough herointo get high on the street for less than twenty dollars. She was one of the four women who got arrested nine months before Parks in March 1955. Colvin s situation was similar to Parks; Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery bus . Claudette was only fifteen years old at the time of the arrest. She was also a member of the NAACP Youth Council. The NAACP wanted to test the Montgomery Bus System by assigning black women to challenging the Jim Crow law on buses in Montgomery, AL. After her arrest, even though she was a youth, the NAACP thought Colvin would be their key to their rebellion, but could not happen because she later became pregnant. During her pregnancy, Colvin testified in the Montgomery federal court on the hearing of the Browder v. Gayle case. I went on Wednesday April 6th, and was hoping to attend a service, but unfortunately they no longer have a Wednesday night service, and hold a meeting for the men s ministry instead. In general the space inside the church is very large, and it consist of two different level with a wide variety of room that are used for different groups of people. Furthermore, the large cross on the outside lets people outside know what the space is being used for, before they even enter the building. In contrast, as I began to walk around the space I realized that there besides for a bible quote on one of the walls there are very few relics which give the space away as a Christian space of worship. In my experience, the space of church is used as a place where people who have some of the same beliefs can come together to learn more about the Christian religion.... I believe that this is due to the fact that the church is catering the space to the audience that they have. Additionally, the space consist of a stage and seats similar to a normal church setting where people would to listen to the pastor / speaker. However, in the back there are also seats and tables where people can sit to socialize with each other. This proves that the space is not only being used as a place to learn, but rather a place to socialized and be entertained. Moreover, at the front there is a large desk that one must pass on the way out, this in affect is a way to regulate and discourage people from leaving during the middle of the ... Many people asked the question of how a single person perceives those values. The answer to that is people often judge family values through two sides of the spectrum, one side being how normal other people behaves towards each other, and the second side being how they believe others families behave. Nowadays, people in our society are heavily influence about familyvalues based on what others tell them, and most importantly, based on what they view on television. • 59. The Ancestor s Tale By Richard Dawkins Essay Thylacinus had stripes like a tiger, body like a dog, and a pouch like a kangaroo. They were marsupials but behaved more like wolves than marsupials (which makes them an excellent example of convergent evolution). They became extinct in Australia and New Guinea because of their incompetence against the dingoes, an invasive species brought by the aboriginal men. Nevertheless, some were left in Tasmania as the dingoes did not reach there, but died out soon after Europeans arrived there. Similar story includes the dodo s tale which is illustrated perfectly by Richard Dawkins in his book The Ancestor s Tale: A Pilgrimage to the Dawn of Evolution When Portuguese sailors arrived on Mauritius in 1507, the abundant dodos were completely tame, and approached the sailors in a manner which cannot have been far from trusting . The unfortunate dodos were clubbed to death by Portuguese, and later Dutch, sailors even though they were deemed unpalatable. Extinction took less than two centuries. As so often, it came about through a combination of killing and more indirect effects. Humans introduced dogs, pigs, rats, and religious refugees. The first three ate dodo eggs, and the last planted sugar cane and destroyed habitats (Dawkins). All the tales of these extinct species have one thing in common a species live in harmony in its home until an invasive species destroy them, and humans are the antagonist in each story. The sick thing is we are still in the middle of and part of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
