The document discusses the Victorian period in Britain through a series of questions and answers. Some key points covered include: the Victorian period was also known as the Machine Age due to the industrial revolution; paintings shifted from depicting Britain's triumphs to its decay; dreams and nightmares became popular themes as they expressed social conditions; religious paintings declined as scientific discoveries questioned biblical teachings; Charles Darwin's theory of natural selection challenged ideas of God's creation; and the 1890s saw increased social scandals and celebration of life as moral restrictions loosened.

Victorian poetry
Victorian poetry refers to British poetic works composed during Queen Victoria’s reign (1837-1901). It should be noted that Irish works are included in the category of British poetry.
Some ten years ago in 2005 I made some remarks on the Internet about art and how art was not appreciated in today’s world for what the artists actually were endeavoring to express in their works. I was speaking more about ancient art; rather, than that which is usually produced in modernity. Kathy Feig and her husband opened Galerie Charmante in Montreal, Canada in 2003 and upon reading my remarks Kathy invited me to comment on Vita Di Milano artwork: a series of twelve paintings, which I will display and comment upon each of them in this paper.
When I looked at Vita Di Milano’s artistic expression of the Suffrage Movement I was somewhat surprised; for the reason that, there were two independent messages in Vita’s artwork. Individually each painting has its own materialistic expression; however, collectively the series was saying something entirely different then each painting by itself. I understood immediately what Vita intentions were in creating this series of paintings of Women & Wheels; however, being a symbolist I also envisaged that the spiritual aeons mystically took the series away from Vita and sent forth their own message, which Vita knew nothing about.
After I sent Kathy Feig my analysis and commentary Vita Di Milano added to it by commenting in a blue color font setting putting a more down to earth background to his artwork in contrast to my remarks. Vita spoke from the perspective he was writing in regarding the Women’s Suffrage Movement and I was noting the symbolic and psychical aspects of his artwork.
I publish my analysis and commentary on Vita’s work on this Independent Academic site in order to introduce to the reader the idea that every single human being that has ever live has a divine purpose in life; though, individually we may not see that in ourselves and others. When each of us finds that raison d’être (reason for existence) as Vita did in his artistic expressions the spiritual aeons speak mystically through that individual’s work.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

8. 6.HOW IS THE OBSESSION
WITH DEATH SUCH
IMPORTANT FOR ARTISTS?
12. 10.WHY DID THE LAST DECADE
BECAME TO BE KNOWN THE
NAUGHTY NINETIES?
13. ANSWERS
1. The Victorian period was also called "The Machine Age" because of the industrial revolution that substituted hand labor for
machines such as the steam engine, the steal machinery, petroleum products and transportation systems improvement such as
railroad system and ship transportation.
2. Paintings of Britain's triumphs were different from paintings of the Victorian era's decay because firsts, ones showed a
period of time when artist and people were proud of their country. They showed all the victories they had, showed a period
when times couldn't be better and people were happy. The second ones, showed a dark country devastated and the end of a
period that had brought wealth and power.
3. Dreams and nightmares became one of the most inspiring themes for paintings because they expressed the reality of
Victorians. Nightmares were shown in paintings as the dark and scarring side of social conditions and the mean side of Queen
Victoria.Dreams were the good and the magical side of their daily life, they showed the world through an optimistic view.
4. Religious paintings and pictures began to crumble because use new scientific discoveries were made public which made
people questioned the existence of God, people began to go beyond the answers they obtained from church and bible and
started formulating new theories of the creation of the world and the man.
5. The theory of the natural selection which states they evolutionary change occurs through variation between individuals,
some variants give the individual an extra survival probability. It was proposed by Darwing saying that species that started being
useless in evolution, were forced,by natural selection, to stop existing.
14. 6. Obsession with death is such important for artist because it represented the desire of knowing what
was the truth of the body after it left the world. Victorians believed that death as it was known it wasn't
the end of life. People wanted to obtain new theories of what could happen after someone died, they
knew something else must have happened so they expressed different ideas through art and pictures.
7. Richard Dadd was an English painter of the Victorian era who represented fairies and other
supernatural subjects and enigmatic scenes. He suffered of schizophrenia and wanted to kill people, he
killed his father and was arrested. During his life in prison he painted and learned to imagine new ways
of expressing creatures that had a devil and a pretty side.
8. Fascination with fairies allowed people to connect with nature, they did have a dark side which
contradicted the nice side everyone knew, it was expressed through paintings, showing an evil creature
with obscure intentions confronted with a creature with friendly intentions. They both were a different
way in which painters interpreted social daily situations and the both sides of each situation.
9. Nudes represented Victorians because they were always interested in sex, they had a lusty mentality
which was expressed in paintings. Victorians were accustomed to a sexual life based on women's body
shape, even if some times that shape was a little bit masculine.
10. The last decade became to be known the naughty nineties because people celebrated drinking,
dancing, and flirting. There were many social scandals and the beginning of the suffragette movement
( which ended with women voting) . There was also a hectic literary activity, there was a lot of drama
and criticism which led people to celebrate life to the limit.
