Effect of Perforation in Channel Section for Resistibility against Shear Buck...ijtsrd
The steel structure have maximum complexity in designing against load bearing capacity as well as stability to withstand under different types of stresses, thus several types of sections were proposed to enhance stability under variable kind of loads, further channel section and I – sections have maximum capability to resist maximum stress and loads in different conditions. In present investigation analysis is performed on ABAQUS to identify the strength ability during unity load with shear buckling evaluation by performing simulation of shear buckling prediction using ABAQUS FEM package in channel section with different shape hole in web i.e. circular, elliptical, hexagonal, pentagonal and rhombus, the parameters and results were validated from present previous research work present in literature, these different hole profiles in channel section are investigated for shear stress, deformation, eigen value shear force, reaction force and shear buckling coefficient. Thus minimum shear stress is found in hexagonal hole profiled channel section with respect to different hole diameter, IS 808 – 1989 was considered for design of channel section. Beam column joints in concrete framed structure have been identified as critical member for transferring forces and bending moments between beams and columns. The change of moments in beam and columns across the joint region, under loadings, induces high shear force and stresses as compared with other adjacent members. The shear failure caused is often brittle in nature which is not an acceptable structural performance. Retrofitting enhances the moment carrying capacity of joint. Often beam column joints need to be strengthened. Author proposes use of ferrocement for retrofitting as wrapping technique, cost effective alternative to costly FRP wrapping technique. In this present research study, modelling & comparison of Beam-Column joint with and without ferrocement jacket is carried out by finite element method using software ANSYS APDL. The comparison shows enhanced performance of the jacketed model over Non jacketed in terms of stresses, ultimate load carrying capacity.

Investigation on Behaviour of Cold Formed Deep Joist Channel SectionDr. Amarjeet Singh
The application of cold formed steel elements in construction is becoming very popular due to several advantages like Speedy construction, higher strength to weight ratio, dimensional stability and recycled material. Nowadays, CFS is proposed to use as building components as beams, columns, Joists, wall panels etc. The load carrying capacity of cold-formed steel (CFS) joists can be enhanced by employing optimization techniques. Recent research studies have mainly focused on optimizing the bending capacity of conventional channel with and without lips that are used as joists. The objective of the study is to examine the flexural strength, failure mode and load-deflection of the cold formed steel double furred channel section with and without web openings under flexure.
Dynamic Analysis of Model Steel Structures Retrofitted with GFRP Composites u...ijtsrd
There are many varieties of the structural and architectural structures strengthened with different FRP composites are gaining popularity, and there is a growing need to understand and compare the behavior of these structures before-after GFRP composite strengthening. In this study, model steel structure was tested on the bench-scale earthquake simulator The Quanser Shake Table using ambient vibration, to determine the dynamic response. After this, slabs of the model steel structure was strengthened with GFRP composite, and tested on the bench-scale earthquake simulator The Quanser Shake Table using ambient vibration, to determine the dynamic behavior. Finally, dynamic responses of model steel structure before and after GFRP composite strengthening, such as displacements and maximum-minimum acceleration, were compared. At the end of the study, it is seen that displacements had decreased along the height of the model steel structure. Also, it is seen from the earthquake analyses that GFRP strengthening is very effective on the dynamic responses of the model steel structure. Finite Element Modeling of a Multi-Storeyed Retrofitted Reinforced Concrete F...IOSR Journals
In the present study, the non-linear response of RC frame using FE modeling under the incremental
loading has been carried out in the first phase of analysis to study the response and load-carrying capacity of a
four storeyed RC frame using non-linear finite element analysis. In the second phase of study an analysis model
for retrofitted RC frame using finite element method using software ATENA is presented. The results obtained
from FE analysis in both cases are compared with the experimental data for four storeyed RC frame tested by
BARC at CPRI. The results from finite element analysis were calculated at the same location as used in
experimental test. The accuracy of the finite element model is assessed by the comparison with experimental
results which are to be in good agreement. The base shear/ displacement curves from finite element analysis
agree well with the experimental results in linear range. The maximum difference in base shear is observed to
be 7.9%

In recent years, the use of composite structures with Glass Fibre Reinforced
Plastic (GFRP) material has increased greatly due to its non-corrosive, nonconductive,
high strength-to-weight ratio, relevant fatigue endurance and cost
competitiveness. In this paper, the dynamic behavior of beams reinforced with GFRP
material of sizes 10, 12, and 16 mm bars placed at the tension zone was modeled and
tested against horizontal loading pattern using the software ANSYS 16.1.
Characteristics of composite beam viz. stiffness and displacement are studied against
vibrations and frequency, respectively, against conventional beam. Analytical results
of ANSYS 16.1 software are i) beams with 16 mm GFRP material placed at tension
shown less displacement ii) beams with 16 mm GFRP material placed at tension zone
shown an increase displacement of 14.2% over conventional beam but with maximum
frequency of 100Hz iii) beams with 10 mm and 12 mm GFRP material placed at
tension zone shown less variations in their displacements iv) for a similar
displacements, beams with GFRP material shown lesser frequency than conventional
and v) increasing the stiffness leads to decrease in vibration of composite beam.
