Native American Colonialism
From the time during North American colonialism to the modern era, American Indians have
responded to and countered U.S. policies, philosophies, and agreements in hopes of sustaining and
preserving their sovereignty and relationships to the land. As a result, the U.S. government employed
many different approaches in dealing with American Indians in hopes of assimilation and
diminishment of Native American culture from the mid 19th century to early 20th century.
Consequently, as the U.S. government policies of assimilation directed towards American Indians
evolved from 1850 to 1930, so did the Indian response. Native American responses to early aggressive
U.S. polices, as in the violations of the Treaty of Fort Laramie and the Confederate Home Guard,
resulted in violent resistive responses from American Indians for the ossification of their relationship
to land. As U.S. detribalization policies later shifted to a more diplomatic approach for improved
westernized assimilation, like the Dawes Allotment Act and use of boarding schools, American Indian
s response metamorphosed from resistance to adaptation for the preservation and survival of their
native identities and culture. The intrinsic relationships that American Indians had to their lands was a
non negotiable doctrine for many tribes. Violating these terms proved to promote resistive responses
that frequently involved violence and war. In addition, many early U.S. policies in the 1850 s
commonly disregarded sovereign

The Ethics Of Executions Should Be Legal
The Ethics of Executions Over the past 10 years, more death row inmates have preferred execution to
facing seemingly endless years of appeals, states an ABC News article (Robinson). With the ever
increasing number of executions, the controversial debate over the legality of capital punishment
creates a divide within the population. A wedge that separates the people who support capital
punishment is one complicated question: what role should a doctor play in executions? Doctors should
be advocates for their patients no matter what the circumstances. Despite the infraction of American
Medical Association (AMA) policy, it is important for a licensed medical professional with the correct
knowledge and experience to monitor the execution. While a doctor should be on the scene in case of
emergency, they should not play an active role in executions as is the policy in Texas and other states.
The first thing to remember is that all doctors must adhere to the Hippocratic Oath which requires
them to do no harm to their patients. However, the bounds of this oath are widely debated on cases
that span Do Not Resuscitate directives, physician assisted suicide, executions, and anything that
results in the death of a patient. In the case of executions, AMA policy states that it is unethical for
doctors to be involved except in a peripheral way (Tanner). The AMA s stance prohibits doctors from
supervising or contributing in any way even if it is to help ease the inmate s pain

Running head: HOW HETERONORMATIVITY AND MEDIA STEREOTYPES IN SOCIETY
INFLUENCES HOW QUEER PEOPLE EXPRESS THEIR SEXUALITIES
How heteronormativity and media stereotypes influences how queer people express their sexualities
Vanessa Gomes
Ryerson University
Who is the man in the relationship? Who tops or bottoms? These questions have become a
fundamental part in queer people s lives. Why do non queer people need for queer people and their
relationships to imitate heternormative heterosexual ones to understand them? Why are all lesbian
women portrayed as butch, and all gay men as flamboyant? Do these ideas being reinforced over and
over affect how queer people view their own sexuality? When our society is ... Show more content on

In media, queer men and women are almost always portrayed in stereotypical roles, and bisexuality is
almost always expressed as a phase or not real. These ideas affect how others view queer identities
and how queer people view their own identity, and the social norms around them. Men are commonly
described as feminine whilst women are portrayed as masculine (Tara Sarper, 2013). How did these
widespread ideas come to exist and how do they continue to affect members of the community? These
stereotypes can be harmful as they build a picture of what it means to be a certain sexuality, as well as
the heteronormativity behind the stereotype. We often see queer people in relationships being asked
who s the dominant one, the man in the relationship, the top, etc. These ideas come from a
heteronormative society that puts harmful misogynistic norms even in relationships where women
might not be present. Where does the overwhelming pressure for there to be a man or top in the
relationship come from, and why are those two associated with each other? Since same sex
relationships go against the norm in society, society still puts pressure on heternormative ideas to be
present in them. If two men decide they want to be exclusively a bottom or top, dominant or
submissive, in either their sexual relationship or in their general dynamic, that is their choice and right
to do so. However, a social constructionist would say

Paul Levy Essay
Paul Levy s strong transformational leadership style facilitated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
(BIDMC) from ailing to thriving. The organization faced many dire issues including financial crisis,
poor quality of patient care, and low staff morale. This grim outlook required a strong
transformational leader. Levy displayed all the characteristics of a powerful and effective leader by
embracing intellectual stimulation, individual consideration, and charisma which enabled him to lead
them through the crisis. Levy was able to inspire the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center staff by
clearly presenting the hospitals challenges and seeking out different viewpoints to solve them. He was

your average organization. Levy believes in the CEO as a teacher, he motivates his management team
in improving decision making and accountability, an example is the discharging of patients which
were being seen as a bottleneck (getting people who are well to leave the hospital). The Department of
Medicine was responsible for coming up with a plan to resolve the issue, and had yet to take action in
implementing their new plan. Levy addressed this in a staff meeting, direct at the head of the
Department, in front of everyone. He said that in order to get anything done, you need a champion,
periodic reporting, and corrective actions. This put peer pressure on the Department of Medicine to
produce results, singling them out as aware of an issue although they had not yet taken action. This is
a lesson on how to organize things to get things done. He was also motivating other to follow suit and
start implementing improvements in their departments. Charismatic leaders are able to inspire emotion
and passion in their followers by being optimistic and enthusiastic. Without passionate and emotional
employees, an organization will be crippled and unable to face

Correlation Between Professional Networking And The Film...
The purpose of this research paper is to examine whether or not professional networking plays a role
in the success of a film composer and if so, how significant that role is. This study will provide an
overview of the correlation between professional networking and the film music industry. The first
part of this paper will give a general overview of the film music industry and the type of experiences
one would have in the profession. The study will then look into more specific instances of professional
networking in the film music industry by analysing case studies of significant composers and how
their careers have been affected by professional networking.
While there is not really a shortage of film and television being created, breaking into the film music
industry can be quite difficult. Being a film composer requires a very broad spectrum of skills. You
need to be skilled at composing and producing music, that much is a given. But to really succeed you
need to have interpersonal and business skills. These skills are crucial to creating and maintaining
professional networks which are the key to getting work in this industry. In the end it really comes
down to being in the right place at the right time and knowing the right people. It is important to be
able to work with other people since there will be other people working on the same project as you.
You must be well skilled in communicating with directors to help create what they want because

Research Paper On Catcher In The Rye
Summer Reading Project 2017 Ali Mithavayani The Catcher in the Rye 1.SETTING Visitations New
York City Although The Catcher in the Rye begins in the fictional town of Agerstown, Pennsylvania,
at the equally fictional Pencey Prep, most of the book takes place in the 1940s, where Holden goes to
rest in a hotel before returning home, and ends up wandering around midtown for three days. The
affluent Manhattan he encounters reflects the post war scene, with New York the unquestionable
center of finance and trade. At night, the city s music clubs and bars are packed with people: New
Yorkers, visitors, college kids, etc. By day, Holden takes us to some of city s most famous landmarks.
Grand Central Station is the largest train station in the world (by number of platforms: 67). Although
slated for improvement in the 1960s, Grand Central was saved and has recently been renovated into a
hub for fine dining and expensive shopping. I would like to visit this place for the scenery and for the
lifestyle. I would rather live a fast pace life rather than a relaxing quiet lifes. As for the scenery, New
York is filled with many astonishing landmarks, as well as the cities around New York. Living in New
York is challenging on your own, and I feel that if you aren t tough on the outside you would have an
unfortunate outcome, that is why Holden was easily adjusted to the lifestyle. 2.PLOT The End Holden
ends the novel by refusing to say what happened after the carousel other than that

Beowulf as Christian Propaganda
The literary work of Beowulf is believed, by many, to contain numerous attributes of Christian
propaganda. Throughout the story of Beowulf, there are several circumstances and coincidences that
distinctly relate to the Christian belief system. One can only imagine that these ideas of Christian
propaganda; which include the use of Christian themes and beliefs in works of literary art, were
strategically placed throughout the story of Beowulf to help the conversion from the old world pagan
religious belief system to the Christian beliefs of the new world. Historians believe that Beowulf was
written sometime in the eighth century in England. This fact is important because during this era,
society was in the process of converting from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Beowulf may represent Christ in this part of the story, it can be viewed that Grendel represents
the devil. The battle between Beowulf and Grendel can represent the Christian theme of good versus
evil. To make the connection even more solid, Grendel is referred to as a descendant of Cain, whom
Satan tricks into sinning and committing the first murder in the human world. Grendel represents the
image of a man fallen from grace through sin. Like Satan who is jealous of the happiness and joy that
Adam and Eve have in the Garden of Eden, Grendel is jealous of the happiness and joy in Heorot.
Grendel, as with Satan, is a rival of God and poses a great challenge to Beowulf, just as evil poses a
challenge to Christians. Another connection that Grendel shares with the devil is his dwelling. Grendel
lives in an underworld just as Satan lives in hell. Grendel is referred to in the poem as the guardian of
sins . These small hints of the Christian culture to come are a way of slowly introducing the Christian
beliefs to the common people, and perhaps getting them ready for the introduction of the stories of
Jesus and his teachings. This way, they have something to relate the stories of Jesus to, and the ideas
of Jesus are not so new and shocking. Perhaps the strongest relation to Christianity in Beowulf is in
the last battle scene of the story. The dragon is Beowulf s last and most intriguing battle. The dragon
can be viewed as

Fashion in the 60s
Fashion in the 60 s
The 60 s were a time of change and challenge. They brought hippies, space age, folk music, and the
Beatles. Women s skirts got shorter, men s hair got longer, and everyone talked about love.
The 60 s was characterized by the feeling that a break with the past had been achieved. Clothes,
furniture, and products all looked newer, brighter, and more fun.
The swinging 60 s were at their height. Women s hemlines were very short. Fashion in the 60 s tended
to encourage exhibitionism. Miniskirts, bold colors, and see through dresses were all geared to
showing off women s bodies, and on rare occasion men s bodies. Gaudy accessories such as perspex

It was the beginning of the fashion reversal. Some pop groups in particular, the Rolling Stones,
cultivated a rebellious attitude that was reflected in their unconventional, scruffy clothing.
Strict rules dictated what was worn and when. Casuals for wearing during the day were very distinct
from formal evening wear. The 60 s saw the abandonment of these traditions and it became perfectly
reasonable to wear the same outfit to work as for and evening out. For evening wear, fabrics such as
velvets and satin ware used. For men, suits became more tight fitting and chelsea boots more popular.
Yves Saint Laurent had fashionable society wearing Mondrian dresses in 1965 and pop art dresses
decorated with comic strip.
Op art = the use of patterns to create an optical illusion were very popular. The patterns first seen in
paintings of Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley found their way into graphic and fabric designs.
By the middle of the 60 s, the term had shifted from popular to fashionable. Badges became a popular
means of self expression.
Their messages concerned political persuasion and sexual preference. Designers in Britain and the
United States experimented with fabrics and materials like paper, nylon, plastics, and elastic.
The Hippy movement, which first surfaced in California, nurtured a form of anti fashion in which
virtually all types of clothes were permissible whether short or long, new or second hand, patterned or

Meaning Of Galatian s Life By The Spirit
Have you ever wondered what it means to walk by the Spirit? Or what the Fruits of the Spirit truly
mean when applied to your life? Are you struggling with sin or maybe with issues you would not
identify as sin that do not feel right?
Paul addresses these issues in Galatians 5:13 26 by showing us what Life by the Spirit truly means.
Paul wrote this Epistle to defend himself and his ministry since many false teachers were telling the
Galatians otherwise and as a wake up call for the people of Galatia. Many took his message and
applied it to their lives, but continued to live in sin with one another. Paul wrote this book out of
frustration because he was disappointed in the Galatians for turning away from his teachings so
quickly. Paul wanted to let the Galatians know that they are no longer under Jewish law and should
not have to be circumcised to follow the Lord; they are free in Christ.
Paul spends the majority of passage talking about the Spirit and the flesh. The first thing you should
identify is what the flesh means. The flesh is a metaphor for our sinful nature, not necessarily referring
to the organ, flesh or skin. The Spirit is known as the Holy Spirit or our conscience to make decisions.
In verse 13 18 Paul is speaking directly to the people by using the pronoun, you. He is letting the
people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This relates to his use of inheriting the Kingdom of God metaphor in verse 21 since often times in the
Bible we are referred to as children of God. This does not mean we will actually inherit the Kingdom,
but that we will just receive eternal life. Since Paul calls the Galatians brothers and sisters, he is
reminding them they too are apart of the family of Christ and have been called to live by the Spirit and
refrain from sin. Furthermore, we are to serve and love one another and take up the characteristics and
attributes that the Spirit calls us to

Forensic Nursing Research Paper
Forensic Nursing: A bridge between medicine and law Although there are a vast number of nurses in
the world, only a fraction of them are forensic nurses. Forensic nursing is a nursing field with sub
specialties that focus on nursing practices that care for victims of violent crimes, such as sexual
assault, at the clinical and legal level. Forensic nurses bring together medical practices and the justice
system in making sure that the evidence has not been unintentionally tainted. In a courtroom nothing
is more crucial than the evidence collected. If somehow that evidence got unintentionally tainted by
clinicians or medical examiners that could drastically change the results. Before forensic nursing came

One of the main reasons why there may not be more forensic nurses than there could be is that the
topic of forensic nursing is not one that someone thinks about when they think about nursing in
general. By protecting the evidence and serving as witnesses when needed forensic nurses truly serve
a major role in bringing together medicine and law to get justice for the victim. The
investigation...prior to surgical intervention or other life saving measures is essential to preserve the
image and description of injury before it is lost through a sea of wound cleansing antiseptic, insertion
of instruments or suturing, Lynch said (Waszak). It is important for both the clinicians and law
enforcement that the evidence does not become tainted or lost. . In addition to providing care, forensic
nurses act as multidisciplinary team members and work as consultants to other nursing and medical
professionals and law enforcement. They receive advanced training in collecting and preserving

Freeman And Martin Shkreli
The primary sense of the term [business ethics] refers to recent developments and to the period, since
roughly the early 1070s, when the term came into common use in the United States (George, Web).
This means that business ethics has become a huge deal over the last recent years. Additionally,
Martin Shkreli acted unethically when he raises the price of a useful drug to certain people who
needed it to survive. One person that would argue that Shkreli was acting unethical is R. Edward
Freeman.
A website in the internet informs that Martin Shkreli was born to Albanian and Croatians immigrates,

Edward Freeman would believe just the opposite. Freeman believes the opposite of Friedman.
Freeman argues the opposite by stating that the basic idea is that businesses, and the executives who
manage them, actually do and should create value for customers, suppliers, employees, communities,
and financiers [or shareholders] (Freeman, 39). This passage suggest that Freeman believes in the
stakeholder theory, and that a stakeholder can be anyone: an employee, a customer, the community,
etc. Freeman counter argument to Friedman is that Shkreli forgot the most important rule in modern
business, The customer is always right. Friedman theory might have been ethical to use in the old
days, but in recent years a business being ethical includes taking it customers opinion into account.
Friedman fail to realize that workers and employees play a huge role in business making profit.
Additionally, the web states that For decades, there wasn t any competition to Daraprim for the simple
reason that there wasn t much money to made selling it (McLean, Web). This is yet another prove that
Shkreli didn t had a reason to raise its price. Because they have no competition, then they didn t have a
reason to raise it price. He acquired the U.S. rights to a lifesaving drug and promptly boosted its price
over 5,000 percent (Mclean, Web). All things consider, it is understandable that the drug cost money to
make, but raising the price to 5000% is outrageously high. For this reason, I believe that if he would
have just double the price, it would have been such a huge deal/unethical. Moving one, in Freedman s
eye Shkreli failed to take his customers into account, and what is worst he hasn t apologized to its
customers. Overall customers have become extremely important to a business, and if you failed to put
customers first the business will not be

Bacon of Long Island, New York; it was passed by congress and signed into law by President Herbert
Hoover on March 3, 1931.
Over the next four years Bacon introduced thirteen more bills to establish regulation of labor on
federal public works projects.[10] Finally, a bill submitted by Bacon and Senator James J. Davis, with
the support of the American Federation of Labor,[11] passed in 1931. The law provided that all federal
construction contractors with contracts in excess of $5,000 or more must pay their workers the
prevailing wage, which in practice meant the wages of unionized labor.
The measure passed because Congressmen saw the bill as protection for local, unionized[12] white
workers salaries in the fierce labor market of the Depression.[13] In particular, white union workers
were angry that black workers who were barred from unions were migrating to the North in search of
jobs in the building trades and undercutting white wages.[14]
The comments of various congressmen reveal the racial animus that motivated the sponsors and
supporters of the bill. In 1930, Representative John J. Cochran of Missouri stated that he had received
numerous complaints in recent months about southern contractors employing low paid colored
mechanics getting work and bringing the employees from the South. [15] Representative Clayton

Essay about Greek and Japanese Architecture
Greek and Japanese Architecture
For a great many years, architecture has been a breaking point for different artisticeras in history.
Some of the most famous works of art have been chapels, temples, and tombs. Among the most
dominant and influential eras of great architecture are the sophisticated, stoic Greeco Roman periods
and the more mystical, elemental Japanese eras. These two very distinct and very different eras have
more in common than you may realize.
When work began on the Parthenon in 447 BC, the Athenian Empire was at the height of its power.
Work on the temple continued until 432; the Parthenon, then, represents the tangible and visible

Currently, Japan s modern architecture is having a striking influence on global architecture.
Japanese architecture is an inherent part of Japanese culture, and even Tokyo s most modern high tech
buildings draw their inspiration from old Japanese design.
Japan s ancient castles and palaces, timber houses, tatami mat tea rooms and Zen gardens,
Shinto shrines, and Buddhist temples, as well as the latest shopping centers, sports facilities,
residential complexes, office towers, department stores, and high tech structures are some excellent
examples of Japanese Architecture (hkuhist2.hku.hk).
Japan is described as a country of wood, and the reverence of natural materials. The depths of the love
and admiration that the Japanese people have for wood are famous, which is similar to the Greek love
of pristine marble and its smooth surfaces. This can be seen in an old Japanese expression plants and
trees all have something to say , Japanese believe that trees have a soul and say they can sense spirits,
or kami , within them. It is trees that form the core which nurtures the sensibilities about nature held
by the Japanese people. It is thus natural for architecture in Japan to be based on wood. Many
structures are made of wood, ranging from shrines and temples to palaces and homes, and in doing so
grand structures have been created (Stokstad).

Rites Of Passage In The Glass Castle
As we grow older, we develop by passing through the rites of passages. These rites are commonly
portrayed in literary works and in movies. An example of a work that contains the rites of passage
would be The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls. This book is a memoir about her life as a child with
parents who could never settle down. She worked herself from the bottom up, and continues to strive
as a published author and journalist. Although The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls, contains many
rites of passage, the three most prominent would be loss, risk taking, and achieving a goal. In her
memoir, Jeannette struggled with loss because of her family s lifestyle. As Jeanette put it, on page 19,
We were always doing the skedaddle . . . The Walls constantly moved to avoid police and the idea of
settling down. When moving, the family usually moved to remote locations, working odd jobs for
money. Another example of of loss in Jeannette s life is when her parents threw her cat out of the car.
Her mother claimed, Cat s don t like travel, on page 18. Jeannette said, [My father] stopped the car,
grabbed Quixote by the scruff of the neck, and tossed him out the window. Her father sped up the car
and drove off, leaving the cat in the dust behind them. In addition to the loss of her cat, Jeannette s
grandmother passed away. Although, Jeannette was not very close to her grandmother, she mourned
the loss of her family member. Although loss is prominent in Jeannette s life,

Black Power Speech Summary
Stokely Carmichael gave his most famous speech on the campus of the University of California at
Berkeley in 1966. His speech, Black Power, addresses the issue of black racism in America and gives
strategies for advancing black civil rights. His use of ethos, logos, and pathos is successful in getting
the audience to engage and connect with his speech. With blacks already on his side, Carmichael
chose to deliver his message to an audience filled with white, liberal college students to reach out to
more broad demographics. The element of pathos was used in the very beginning of his speech to
humor the young audience by referring to the Berkeley students as White intellectual ghettos of the
West (1). He continues his humor by calling the news reporters advertisers who are ... caught up in the
intellectual masturbation of the question of Black Power (1). The element of ethos is brought up in the
beginning of the speech when Carmichael talks about condemning oneself. He references that the
philosophers Camus and Sartre raise the question whether or not a man can condemn himself. The
black existentialist philosopher who is pragmatic, Frantz Fanon, answered the question. He said that
man could not (1). In order for a man to condemn himself, he would have to blame himself for his
actions, sentencing himself to a punishment. Carmichael states multiple different incidents in
American history and America s present where a man could not condemn himself, but the most

Cirrhotic Essay
Abstract P.P.I therapy is often used in patients with cirrhosis, sometimes, in the absence of a specific
indication (e.g.: acid related diseases), there are conflicting reports for their use in cirrhotic patients.
The dosage of most PPIs should be reduced in cirrhotic as they are metabolized by the liver and
associated with adverse effects of prolonged use. We aimed to review strict indications and adverse
effects for their use in this group of patients. Keywords Proton pump inhibitors, liver cirrhosis, peptic
ulcer, H. pylori, esophageal band ligation. Abbreviations P.P.I: proton pump inhibitors. EVS:

A short course for 10 days post EVL may be reasonable if we concern for ulcer healing. However,
high dose infusion (e.g., pantoprazole 8 mg/h) and prolonged use in the absence of endoscopic
procedures is not supported by the literature and should be discouraged until evidence of benefit
becomes available. (8) GERD Functional studies showed decreased LES function with a low
amplitude of acid clearance and primary esophageal peristalsis in cirrhotics with large varices [9].
These phenomena could also be due to a mechanical effect of the varices. Cirrhotic patients without
EV have also esophageal motor disorders and mixed acid and bile reflux as the main pattern whereas
the cirrhosis itself was an important causative factor. It is unclear whether this might contribute to
bleeding from varices [8]. Data on management of GERD in cirrhosis are few, however, the
indications of use for PPIs may remain exactly the same also in patient with cirrhosis of the liver as
general population for the treatment of erosive esophagitis or in general the pathology secondary to
gastroesophageal reflux acid (10) Peptic ulcer and H. pylori infection Prevalence of duodenal and
gastric ulcers in patients with liver cirrhosis increases as the disease progress[11] and this prevalence
becomes higher in decompensated cirrhosis than in compensated cirrhosis [12]. Currently, PPIs are the
mainstay treatment option of peptic ulcers in the

Persuasive Essay On How To Tie
What comes to mind when you think of ties? We usually associate ties with professional meetings,
formal parties, or something that is really hard to tie and is going to choke us no matter what. Ties date
back to the 17th century, during the 30 year war in France. King Louis XIII hired Croatian
mercenaries who wore a piece of cloth around their neck as part of their uniform. The purpose of
neckties was to tie the top of their jackets, but also to have a decorative effect. King Louis enjoyed it
so much he made it a mandatory accessory for royal gatherings and to honor the Croatian soldiers. I m
sure that at some point, all of us have had to use a tie for formal parties, meetings, or just because it is
required in your uniform or attire. Did you know, the most expensive tie ever made was for $220K. It
had 271 diamonds and 150g gold (Tie A Tie.) Imagine yourself having that tie. How would you look

Jack The Beast In Lord Of The Flies
Many of you may be thinking a beast is someone who is ugly, big, and monstrous, but is that really
true? A beast can be within ourselves. The beast is us. In William Golding s The Lord of the Flies
includes many monstrous behavior, a boy like Jack. Whom was stuck on the island with other boys.
He was different. Very dark, someone who wanted to take initiative with every chance he had, a
dictator is what he was in somewhat form. Believing based off of his real intention, Jack is the beast
within himself. He was hard headed. He believed his actions were beneficial they were because of
how helpful they were to the other boys. Many of his characteristics weren t good, because he had no

He is a hypocritical person. He decided to make rules and punished whoever doesn t obey but breaks
these rules he made. He believes he s a leader so he feels the need to do whatever he feels. On one of
the articles Get Revising it can be argued that Jack says the conch isn t important whatsoever and
doesn t apply to any situation but he still decided to use it at his own advantage. Whatever is
beneficial to him he will use. Just like he decided to use the littluns to his own advantage. In the novel
it states, Jack was the first to make himself heard. He had not got the conch and thus spoke against the
rules; but nobody minded (79). Jack thinks he has the right to speak whenever because he had not
gotten the conch with is going against the rules. This shows hypocritical actions. Towards the ending
of the chapter Jack doesn t give Piggy the right to speak even though he s the one with the conch.
Another piece of evidence that shows Jack acting out in hypocritical ways, Piggy took the conch out
of his hands. His voice was indignant. I don t believe in no ghosts! ever! Jack was up too,
unaccountably angry. Who cares what you believe fatty! I got the conch! There was the sound of a
brief tussle and the conch moved to and fro. You gimme the conch back! (81). Ralph then reminds

Temple University Stakeholder Analysis
Temple University initiated to develop 35,000 seat football stadium with an estimated cost of $100
million in the campus area of Philadelphia (Clearing the Way for a Football Stadium. Philly.com). The
objective of this stakeholder analysis paper is to identify the most powerful and influential
stakeholders of Temple University stadium using three attributes power, legitimacy and urgency.
There are two divisions of stakeholders Primary and Secondary Stakeholders. According to Clarkson

between each other and without which the organization/Institute cannot survive. On the other hand,
Secondary stakeholders are those who don t have direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They don t have ownership or legal rights. Their interests are categorized in four different areas which
are career stability, student/school welfare, freedom of choice and the overall quality of education. If
Temple invest on developing a stadium and if it doesn t go well then it might affect on employees
career stability as they may redistribute employees to other departments. It could affect overall quality
of education/academics to Athletics. Also if the stadium moves in the campus, obviously there would
be a change in the culture hence it will affect student welfare. Through survey result, we found that
66% people are against the building of a new stadium. So, if I think about the freedom of choice, it
looks like most of the employees don t think it would be a good idea to build a new stadium because it
only going to waste money. Temple could provide money to develop community and invest on their
education system. There are two stakeholders who have strong relationships with each other. I think
that the board of trustees and the football program should work together as the project operation
would depend on their decision. TU doesn t have Legal responsibilities or Philanthropic obligation
towards their employees. However, they have Economic responsibilities. They need to think about the
infrastructure and the cost to develop the stadium. It could affect negatively on

Due Process and Crime Control
The Warren Court left an unprecedented legacy of judicial activism in the area of civil rights law as
well as in the area of civil liberties specifically, the rights of the accused as addressed in Amendments
4 through 8. In the period from 1961 to 1969, the Warren Court examined almost every aspect of the
criminal justice system in the United States, using the 14th Amendment to extend constitutional
protections to all courts in every State. This process became known as the nationalization of the Bill of
Rights. During those years, cases concerning the right to legal counsel, confessions, searches, and the
treatment of juvenile criminals all appeared on the Court s docket.

By a 5 4 margin, the Court voted to overturn Miranda s conviction. Chief Justice Warren declared that
the burden is upon the State to demonstrate that procedural safeguards effective to secure the privilege
against self incrimination are followed. The current practice of incommunicado interrogation is that
the individual may not be compelled to incriminate himself.
Warren then summarized the case, measuring it against the fundamental fairness standards the Court
had established. It is clear, he wrote, that Miranda was not in any way apprised of his right to consult
with an attorney and to have one present during the interrogation, nor was his right not to be
compelled to incriminate himself effectively protected in any other manner. Without these warnings

Turning to the standard for a valid waiver of rights, Warren wrote: A valid waiver will not be

Motivation, Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivation
Motivation is a very important factor no matter what sport you coach or what the team or athlete goals
are. A true coach must be able to understand their athlete and be able to tap into their motivation,
maximizing their performance. Chapter four was written about two particular types of motivation,
intrinsic and extrinsic. No matter what theory you believe, all theories boil down to these two types of
motivation. Knowing the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, can help you hone in
on athletes, their goals, and help them maximize their performance. Succeeding in sports, really boils
down to three main characteristics, helping athletes set goals and work towards them, conducting
reviews of athlete s performance with the athlete, and conduct team sessions. When it comes towards
motivation, the easiest way to get an athlete working towards a goal is to sit down and conduct a goal
setting session with them. Every person has goals they want to attain, but may not know how to
deploy a plan of action towards achieving those goals. There are many ways to conduct goal setting,
some ways are easier than others. One I like to use is a seven step process. The athlete writes down
their goal, being very specific, define where you are right now, identify key areas to improve on in
order to achieve the goal, identify actions to take and attitudes to help keep moving towards the goal,
identify a short term goal to begin momentum, create an image of the goal that an

Personal Statement For Social Work
Personal Statement
The pursuit of a doctoral degree is both exciting and humbling for me. It is exciting that I have a clear
vision of the career I want to pursue as an academic, and humbling to think of the great opportunity I
could have to teach future social workers. Early motivation to enter the field of social work was in
response to adverse childhood experiences with domestic violence, parental substance abuse, poverty,
and homelessness further complicated by foster care intervention. My foster care experience included
five foster placements, enrollment in countless schools, countless lost relationships, and a failed
adoption. Though these experiences created much hardship, they have certainly promoted resilience
and helped lead me to my current ambition of seeking a Ph.D. As a recipient of foster care
intervention, I exited state custody through legal permanence. Through education, advocacy, and
direct social work practice with youth in residential treatment, I acquired new skills and insight to
addressing social and child welfare problems. I am excited for the opportunity to promote the field of
social work in the classroom and improve the lives of youth in the foster care system through my
research.
Personal Goals
In applying to Arizona State University s School of Social Work (ASU SSW) Ph.D. program, I aspire
to peruse a career as a social work educator. I plan to use this platform and newly acquired skills
developed with the university, to advance the field

The Tragedy of Wide Sargasso Sea
In Jean Rhys novel Wide Sargasso Sea, whether Antoinette Cosway really goes mad in the end is
debatable. Nevertheless, it is clear that her life is tragic. The tragedy comes from her numerous
pursuits for love and a sense of belonging, and her failure at each and every one of these attempts.
As a child Antoinette, is deprived of parental love. Her father is a drunkard and has many mistresses
and illegitimate children. According to Daniel Cosway s account, old Cosway is cruel to his own son.

John Coltrane s Influence On Jazz Music
John Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. He was born on September 23, 1926
in Hamlet, North Carolina. From the documentary The World According to John Coltrane , we learned
that John Coltrane had a huge influence on jazz music as he was always willing to learn and gain
experiences. Despite he spent most of his career playing with the rhythm and blues and jazz artists,
Coltrane still had the vision that he could improve his musical skills. As John Coltrane has relentless
curiosity towards music, he spent a lot of time learning music from other cultures. He created a world
of sound by bringing the idea of Asian, African and Middle Eastern music into Western music
cultures. Coltrane has an impact not only on jazz, but also contemporary classical music, such as rock,
pop and funk. Moreover, John Coltrane was a person that often attacked his own problems in music
and search ways to make improvements. Instead of being satisfied with the things that he already
knew, he tried his best to enhance the music notes that disturbed him.

The Pros And Cons Of Absolutism
Absolutism, a form of government where the rulers word is law. All aspects are decided by the one in
charge and his word is absolute. In this form of government the ruler will typically have trusted
advisers but besides simple recommendations they have no real power. An absolute government has
all aspects such as religion, political standing and economy decided by its ruler.
In 1961 thomas hobbes wrote that the passions that incline men to peace are the fear of death. When a
man wants something he can fight and take a chance to get it. Most men fear that chance as they may
die and lose everything, but the thought of coming out on top is enough to encourage these actions in
individuals. These individuals can incite others who would have normally turned down the challenge.
In a case when the odds are not in favor of those goals set by an individual leading others one must not
hesitate with what must be done. Hobbes understood that if there was no concise ruler that there was a
sort of stutter when doing things taking action required to go through the proper channels. When 10
men are in control they must all agree but when only one man is in control all that must be done is let
them decide entirely.
When Bossuet talks about power he states that it must be employed with fear and self restraint as it is
a blessing bestowed upon the ruler by god. Bossuet says that the throne is not for man but a place for
man to speak the will of god. Unlike in absolutism Bosset says that these

The objective of this experiment was to determine if temperature has an effect on the duration of

Chlorophyll And The Concentration Of Chlorophyll
Plankton are aquatic organisms that drift throughout their environment as they posses no true motor
capabilities. Within their respective aquatic habitats plankton form the productive basis of their
ecosystem and are divided into two subcategories: zooplankton and phytoplankton, the later will be
the primary focus of this paper. Phytoplankton, as well as other photosynthetic organisms poses
pigments called chlorophyll. These pigments allow phytoplankton to convert carbon dioxide and water
to oxygen and sugar, which provides the phytoplankton with energy. Due to the fact that all
phytoplankton posses chlorophyll scientists have developed methods that use chlorophyll testing in
order to understand more about phytoplankton as a whole. Phytoplankton posses different types of
chlorophyll but scientists usually sample chlorophyll a as it is the most abundant form (YSI
Environmental, Cullen 1982, Santos 2003). Several different methods have been developed to analyze
the concentration of chlorophyll a.
One method of analyzing chlorophyll a that has been developed is through chlorophyll extraction. In
order to perform this method one must first collect a fairly large water sample (see Plankton Web
citation for surface water sampling techniques). This sample must then be filtrated in order to
concentrate the chlorophyll containing organisms (see Plankton Web for filtration methods). Finally

Deductive Arguments For Universal Healthcare
Final Paper Universal Healthcare
Chrystal M Bare
PHI103 Informal Logic
Instructor Christopher DeFusco Ph D.
November 24, 2017
Chosen Topic:
Should Universal Healthcare be available to all regardless of their ability to pay in the same way that
other services like education are available to all for free?
Universal Healthcare means that all individuals can use medical services as preventative, curative, and
rehabilitative care when they need it regardless of their income levels. Universal healthcare guarantees
that these services are available to everyone. The U.S. is in talks now for a single payer system which
would provide health insurance in place of private companies to bring more access to medical to the
lower class and the thousands of under or uninsured.
P1: Universal Healthcare would reduce long term costs.
P2: Everyone has a right to see a doctor.
P3: Universal Healthcare would improve public health overall, with preventative care and overall
health management.
C: Therefore universal healthcare should be available to every person as a government funded
program.
This is a deductive argument. A deductive argument is an argument that is intended by the arguer to be
deductively valid. As the deductive arguer here I am attempting to provide the truth of the conclusion
that is provided by my arguments premises and they should be true statements.
Premise one: Universal Healthcare would reduce long term costs.
A single payer system would eliminate

  • 3. Native American Colonialism From the time during North American colonialism to the modern era, American Indians have responded to and countered U.S. policies, philosophies, and agreements in hopes of sustaining and preserving their sovereignty and relationships to the land. As a result, the U.S. government employed many different approaches in dealing with American Indians in hopes of assimilation and diminishment of Native American culture from the mid 19th century to early 20th century. Consequently, as the U.S. government policies of assimilation directed towards American Indians evolved from 1850 to 1930, so did the Indian response. Native American responses to early aggressive U.S. polices, as in the violations of the Treaty of Fort Laramie and the Confederate Home Guard, resulted in violent resistive responses from American Indians for the ossification of their relationship to land. As U.S. detribalization policies later shifted to a more diplomatic approach for improved westernized assimilation, like the Dawes Allotment Act and use of boarding schools, American Indian s response metamorphosed from resistance to adaptation for the preservation and survival of their native identities and culture. The intrinsic relationships that American Indians had to their lands was a non negotiable doctrine for many tribes. Violating these terms proved to promote resistive responses that frequently involved violence and war. In addition, many early U.S. policies in the 1850 s commonly disregarded sovereign ... • 4. The Ethics Of Executions Should Be Legal The Ethics of Executions Over the past 10 years, more death row inmates have preferred execution to facing seemingly endless years of appeals, states an ABC News article (Robinson). With the ever increasing number of executions, the controversial debate over the legality of capital punishment creates a divide within the population. A wedge that separates the people who support capital punishment is one complicated question: what role should a doctor play in executions? Doctors should be advocates for their patients no matter what the circumstances. Despite the infraction of American Medical Association (AMA) policy, it is important for a licensed medical professional with the correct knowledge and experience to monitor the execution. While a doctor should be on the scene in case of emergency, they should not play an active role in executions as is the policy in Texas and other states. The first thing to remember is that all doctors must adhere to the Hippocratic Oath which requires them to do no harm to their patients. However, the bounds of this oath are widely debated on cases that span Do Not Resuscitate directives, physician assisted suicide, executions, and anything that results in the death of a patient. In the case of executions, AMA policy states that it is unethical for doctors to be involved except in a peripheral way (Tanner). The AMA s stance prohibits doctors from supervising or contributing in any way even if it is to help ease the inmate s pain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Running head: HOW HETERONORMATIVITY AND MEDIA STEREOTYPES IN SOCIETY INFLUENCES HOW QUEER PEOPLE EXPRESS THEIR SEXUALITIES How heteronormativity and media stereotypes influences how queer people express their sexualities Vanessa Gomes Ryerson University Who is the man in the relationship? Who tops or bottoms? These questions have become a fundamental part in queer people s lives. Why do non queer people need for queer people and their relationships to imitate heternormative heterosexual ones to understand them? Why are all lesbian women portrayed as butch, and all gay men as flamboyant? Do these ideas being reinforced over and over affect how queer people view their own sexuality? When our society is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In media, queer men and women are almost always portrayed in stereotypical roles, and bisexuality is almost always expressed as a phase or not real. These ideas affect how others view queer identities and how queer people view their own identity, and the social norms around them. Men are commonly described as feminine whilst women are portrayed as masculine (Tara Sarper, 2013). How did these widespread ideas come to exist and how do they continue to affect members of the community? These stereotypes can be harmful as they build a picture of what it means to be a certain sexuality, as well as the heteronormativity behind the stereotype. We often see queer people in relationships being asked who s the dominant one, the man in the relationship, the top, etc. These ideas come from a heteronormative society that puts harmful misogynistic norms even in relationships where women might not be present. Where does the overwhelming pressure for there to be a man or top in the relationship come from, and why are those two associated with each other? Since same sex relationships go against the norm in society, society still puts pressure on heternormative ideas to be present in them. If two men decide they want to be exclusively a bottom or top, dominant or submissive, in either their sexual relationship or in their general dynamic, that is their choice and right to do so. However, a social constructionist would say ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Levy addressed this in a staff meeting, direct at the head of the Department, in front of everyone. He said that in order to get anything done, you need a champion, periodic reporting, and corrective actions. This put peer pressure on the Department of Medicine to produce results, singling them out as aware of an issue although they had not yet taken action. This is a lesson on how to organize things to get things done. He was also motivating other to follow suit and start implementing improvements in their departments. The purpose of this research paper is to examine whether or not professional networking plays a role in the success of a film composer and if so, how significant that role is. This study will provide an overview of the correlation between professional networking and the film music industry. The first part of this paper will give a general overview of the film music industry and the type of experiences one would have in the profession. The study will then look into more specific instances of professional networking in the film music industry by analysing case studies of significant composers and how their careers have been affected by professional networking. While there is not really a shortage of film and television being created, breaking into the film music industry can be quite difficult. Being a film composer requires a very broad spectrum of skills. You need to be skilled at composing and producing music, that much is a given. But to really succeed you need to have interpersonal and business skills. • 9. Research Paper On Catcher In The Rye Summer Reading Project 2017 Ali Mithavayani The Catcher in the Rye 1.SETTING Visitations New York City Although The Catcher in the Rye begins in the fictional town of Agerstown, Pennsylvania, at the equally fictional Pencey Prep, most of the book takes place in the 1940s, where Holden goes to rest in a hotel before returning home, and ends up wandering around midtown for three days. The affluent Manhattan he encounters reflects the post war scene, with New York the unquestionable center of finance and trade. At night, the city s music clubs and bars are packed with people: New Yorkers, visitors, college kids, etc. By day, Holden takes us to some of city s most famous landmarks. Grand Central Station is the largest train station in the world (by number of platforms: 67). Although slated for improvement in the 1960s, Grand Central was saved and has recently been renovated into a hub for fine dining and expensive shopping. I would like to visit this place for the scenery and for the lifestyle. I would rather live a fast pace life rather than a relaxing quiet lifes. As for the scenery, New York is filled with many astonishing landmarks, as well as the cities around New York. Living in New York is challenging on your own, and I feel that if you aren t tough on the outside you would have an unfortunate outcome, that is why Holden was easily adjusted to the lifestyle. 2.PLOT The End Holden ends the novel by refusing to say what happened after the carousel other than that ... Throughout the story of Beowulf, there are several circumstances and coincidences that distinctly relate to the Christian belief system. One can only imagine that these ideas of Christian propaganda; which include the use of Christian themes and beliefs in works of literary art, were strategically placed throughout the story of Beowulf to help the conversion from the old world pagan religious belief system to the Christian beliefs of the new world. Historians believe that Beowulf was written sometime in the eighth century in England. This fact is important because during this era, society was in the process of converting from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Beowulf may represent Christ in this part of the story, it can be viewed that Grendel represents the devil. The battle between Beowulf and Grendel can represent the Christian theme of good versus evil. To make the connection even more solid, Grendel is referred to as a descendant of Cain, whom Satan tricks into sinning and committing the first murder in the human world. Grendel represents the image of a man fallen from grace through sin. Like Satan who is jealous of the happiness and joy that Adam and Eve have in the Garden of Eden, Grendel is jealous of the happiness and joy in Heorot. Grendel, as with Satan, is a rival of God and poses a great challenge to Beowulf, just as evil poses a challenge to Christians. Another connection that Grendel shares with the devil is his dwelling. Grendel lives in an underworld just as Satan lives in hell. Grendel is referred to in the poem as the guardian of sins . These small hints of the Christian culture to come are a way of slowly introducing the Christian beliefs to the common people, and perhaps getting them ready for the introduction of the stories of Jesus and his teachings. This way, they have something to relate the stories of Jesus to, and the ideas of Jesus are not so new and shocking. Perhaps the strongest relation to Christianity in Beowulf is in the last battle scene of the story. The dragon is Beowulf s last and most intriguing battle. The dragon can be viewed as ... Women s skirts got shorter, men s hair got longer, and everyone talked about love. The 60 s was characterized by the feeling that a break with the past had been achieved. Clothes, furniture, and products all looked newer, brighter, and more fun. The swinging 60 s were at their height. Women s hemlines were very short. Fashion in the 60 s tended to encourage exhibitionism. Miniskirts, bold colors, and see through dresses were all geared to showing off women s bodies, and on rare occasion men s bodies. Some pop groups in particular, the Rolling Stones, cultivated a rebellious attitude that was reflected in their unconventional, scruffy clothing. Strict rules dictated what was worn and when. Casuals for wearing during the day were very distinct from formal evening wear. The 60 s saw the abandonment of these traditions and it became perfectly reasonable to wear the same outfit to work as for and evening out. For evening wear, fabrics such as velvets and satin ware used. For men, suits became more tight fitting and chelsea boots more popular. Yves Saint Laurent had fashionable society wearing Mondrian dresses in 1965 and pop art dresses decorated with comic strip. The patterns first seen in paintings of Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley found their way into graphic and fabric designs. By the middle of the 60 s, the term had shifted from popular to fashionable. Badges became a popular means of self expression. Their messages concerned political persuasion and sexual preference. Designers in Britain and the United States experimented with fabrics and materials like paper, nylon, plastics, and elastic. • 16. Meaning Of Galatian s Life By The Spirit Have you ever wondered what it means to walk by the Spirit? Or what the Fruits of the Spirit truly mean when applied to your life? Are you struggling with sin or maybe with issues you would not identify as sin that do not feel right? Paul addresses these issues in Galatians 5:13 26 by showing us what Life by the Spirit truly means. Paul wrote this Epistle to defend himself and his ministry since many false teachers were telling the Galatians otherwise and as a wake up call for the people of Galatia. Many took his message and applied it to their lives, but continued to live in sin with one another. Paul wrote this book out of frustration because he was disappointed in the Galatians for turning away from his teachings so quickly. Paul wanted to let the Galatians know that they are no longer under Jewish law and should not have to be circumcised to follow the Lord; they are free in Christ. Paul spends the majority of passage talking about the Spirit and the flesh. The first thing you should identify is what the flesh means. The flesh is a metaphor for our sinful nature, not necessarily referring to the organ, flesh or skin. The Spirit is known as the Holy Spirit or our conscience to make decisions. In verse 13 18 Paul is speaking directly to the people by using the pronoun, you. He is letting the people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that business ethics has become a huge deal over the last recent years. Additionally, Martin Shkreli acted unethically when he raises the price of a useful drug to certain people who needed it to survive. One person that would argue that Shkreli was acting unethical is R. Edward Freeman. Freeman believes the opposite of Friedman. This passage suggest that Freeman believes in the stakeholder theory, and that a stakeholder can be anyone: an employee, a customer, the community, etc. Freeman counter argument to Friedman is that Shkreli forgot the most important rule in modern business, The customer is always right. Friedman theory might have been ethical to use in the old days, but in recent years a business being ethical includes taking it customers opinion into account. Friedman fail to realize that workers and employees play a huge role in business making profit. Additionally, the web states that For decades, there wasn t any competition to Daraprim for the simple reason that there wasn t much money to made selling it (McLean, Web). This is yet another prove that Shkreli didn t had a reason to raise its price. Because they have no competition, then they didn t have a reason to raise it price. He acquired the U.S. rights to a lifesaving drug and promptly boosted its price over 5,000 percent (Mclean, Web). All things consider, it is understandable that the drug cost money to make, but raising the price to 5000% is outrageously high. For this reason, I believe that if he would have just double the price, it would have been such a huge deal/unethical. Davis, with the support of the American Federation of Labor,[11] passed in 1931. The law provided that all federal construction contractors with contracts in excess of $5,000 or more must pay their workers the prevailing wage, which in practice meant the wages of unionized labor. The measure passed because Congressmen saw the bill as protection for local, unionized[12] white workers salaries in the fierce labor market of the Depression.[13] In particular, white union workers were angry that black workers who were barred from unions were migrating to the North in search of jobs in the building trades and undercutting white wages.[14] The comments of various congressmen reveal the racial animus that motivated the sponsors and supporters of the bill. These two very distinct and very different eras have more in common than you may realize. When work began on the Parthenon in 447 BC, the Athenian Empire was at the height of its power. His speech, Black Power, addresses the issue of black racism in America and gives strategies for advancing black civil rights. His use of ethos, logos, and pathos is successful in getting the audience to engage and connect with his speech. With blacks already on his side, Carmichael chose to deliver his message to an audience filled with white, liberal college students to reach out to more broad demographics. The element of pathos was used in the very beginning of his speech to humor the young audience by referring to the Berkeley students as White intellectual ghettos of the West (1). He continues his humor by calling the news reporters advertisers who are ... caught up in the intellectual masturbation of the question of Black Power (1). The element of ethos is brought up in the beginning of the speech when Carmichael talks about condemning oneself. He references that the philosophers Camus and Sartre raise the question whether or not a man can condemn himself. The black existentialist philosopher who is pragmatic, Frantz Fanon, answered the question. He said that man could not (1). Nevertheless, it is clear that her life is tragic. The tragedy comes from her numerous pursuits for love and a sense of belonging, and her failure at each and every one of these attempts. As a child Antoinette, is deprived of parental love. Her father is a drunkard and has many mistresses and illegitimate children. According to Daniel Cosway s account, old Cosway is cruel to his own son. Yet even if Daniel was not really a Cosway, and his descriptions were made out of spite, or if old Cosway had cared any more for his legitimate children than his bastard ones, his alcoholism is real, and ... We ate salt fish no money for fresh fish. That old house so leaky, you run with calabash to catch water when it rain. Plenty white people in Jamaica. Real white people, they got gold money. They didn t look at us, nobody see them come near us. Old time white people nothing but white nigger now, and black nigger better than white nigger (10; part 1). Tia represents not only herself but the general native community. They hate the Cosway widow and children because of their past slave ownership, and despise them for their lack of wealth. Indeed, it is this hostility that motivates the natives to set Coulibri on fire and drive the Masons (now that Annette has married Mr. Mason) out of the estate. Antoinette s removal from Coulibri is not only her first experience of dislocation, but also a serious emotional trauma. The place represents familiarity, and thus safety and identity to her. It is the place where she belongs; it is a kind and faithful friend. Now all that is lost to her With the experience of being ignored, betrayed, and deprived, she becomes more afraid of loss and danger, but longs even more to have something to hold dear and belong to. • 37. The Pros And Cons Of Absolutism Absolutism, a form of government where the rulers word is law. All aspects are decided by the one in charge and his word is absolute. In this form of government the ruler will typically have trusted advisers but besides simple recommendations they have no real power. An absolute government has all aspects such as religion, political standing and economy decided by its ruler. In 1961 thomas hobbes wrote that the passions that incline men to peace are the fear of death. When a man wants something he can fight and take a chance to get it. Most men fear that chance as they may die and lose everything, but the thought of coming out on top is enough to encourage these actions in individuals. These individuals can incite others who would have normally turned down the challenge. In a case when the odds are not in favor of those goals set by an individual leading others one must not hesitate with what must be done. Hobbes understood that if there was no concise ruler that there was a sort of stutter when doing things taking action required to go through the proper channels. When 10 men are in control they must all agree but when only one man is in control all that must be done is let them decide entirely. When Bossuet talks about power he states that it must be employed with fear and self restraint as it is a blessing bestowed upon the ruler by god. Bossuet says that the throne is not for man but a place for man to speak the will of god. Unlike in absolutism Bosset says that these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

FUNCTIONS OF A NEW CAPITAL PROJECT If you are going to build a brewing operation from scratch, what you are considering is a capital project that can be broken down into nine basic functions. Each function must be managed properly, from conceptualization to start up. Whatever the type, form, style of brewing operation that you are contemplating, whether it be called a boutique brewery, craft brewery, cottage brewery, brewpub, microbrewery, etc., there are many questions, not just a few, that you will need to obtain the answers for as they apply to your situation. You may already know the answers to some of the questions but others you will have to research. To assist you in organizing the answers that you have obtained to date and to identify some important questions which you may not have considered, the following is a list of nine function steps that you must systematically and professionally proceed to do. Important questions that you need to ask yourself and find the answers for are listed in point form for your reference as a checklist of topics, problems, etc. to be covered under each function. • 40. P. Scaber Temperature Experiment The objective of this experiment was to determine if temperature has an effect on the duration of movement of P. scaber. Our experiment showed that temperature has no effect on the duration of movement of P. scaber. Although the mean duration of movement was smaller at the lower temperature (10oC) compared to the higher temperature (25oC) in trial one (see Figure1), the difference in mean is not statistically significant because the p value (0.10) was greater than the alpha value (α=0.05). The results of both Trials 1 and 2 were both inconsistent with our prediction. We predicted that P. scaber would move less at lower temperatures compared to higher temperatures. As temperature increases, the rate at which P. scaber desiccate increases, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study was conducted to find the effect of temperature, humidity, and light on three different animals (Warburg, 1964). One of the animals, Armadillidium vulgare, is also similar to Porcellio scaber as they are both isopods that exhibit similar behaviours, especially in terms of their water permeable exoskeletons. In the study, the animals were place on a temperature gradient with different temperature ranges (10oC to 20oC, 13oC to 27oC, 21oC to 35oC, and 28oC to 45oC). The study was done with a simultaneous treatment experiment. The position of the animal was recorded after every 60 seconds and the time the animal spent in each temperature zone was also recorded. The result of the study was that the organisms preferred to stay longer in a cooler region which does not support our results of duration is unaffected by temperature. Porcellio scaber is susceptible to water loss due do the environment so their natural behaviour would be to stay in areas where water loss is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Chlorophyll And The Concentration Of Chlorophyll Plankton are aquatic organisms that drift throughout their environment as they posses no true motor capabilities. Within their respective aquatic habitats plankton form the productive basis of their ecosystem and are divided into two subcategories: zooplankton and phytoplankton, the later will be the primary focus of this paper. Phytoplankton, as well as other photosynthetic organisms poses pigments called chlorophyll. These pigments allow phytoplankton to convert carbon dioxide and water to oxygen and sugar, which provides the phytoplankton with energy. Due to the fact that all phytoplankton posses chlorophyll scientists have developed methods that use chlorophyll testing in order to understand more about phytoplankton as a whole. Phytoplankton posses different types of chlorophyll but scientists usually sample chlorophyll a as it is the most abundant form (YSI Environmental, Cullen 1982, Santos 2003). Several different methods have been developed to analyze the concentration of chlorophyll a. One method of analyzing chlorophyll a that has been developed is through chlorophyll extraction. In order to perform this method one must first collect a fairly large water sample (see Plankton Web citation for surface water sampling techniques). This sample must then be filtrated in order to concentrate the chlorophyll containing organisms (see Plankton Web for filtration methods). Finally mechanical rupturing of the collected cells, and extraction of the chlorophyll from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Deductive Arguments For Universal Healthcare Final Paper Universal Healthcare Chrystal M Bare PHI103 Informal Logic Instructor Christopher DeFusco Ph D. November 24, 2017 Chosen Topic: Should Universal Healthcare be available to all regardless of their ability to pay in the same way that other services like education are available to all for free? Universal Healthcare means that all individuals can use medical services as preventative, curative, and rehabilitative care when they need it regardless of their income levels. Universal healthcare guarantees that these services are available to everyone. The U.S. is in talks now for a single payer system which would provide health insurance in place of private companies to bring more access to medical to the lower class and the thousands of under or uninsured. P1: Universal Healthcare would reduce long term costs. P2: Everyone has a right to see a doctor. P3: Universal Healthcare would improve public health overall, with preventative care and overall health management. C: Therefore universal healthcare should be available to every person as a government funded program. This is a deductive argument. A deductive argument is an argument that is intended by the arguer to be deductively valid. As the deductive arguer here I am attempting to provide the truth of the conclusion that is provided by my arguments premises and they should be true statements.
