(Period 1+2)
Objectives:
To enable the KIPSians-the Performers to understand what is a computer and what is its importance.
Approach:
The teacher will encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to share what machines do for us. She will
also encourage them to share the names of some machines which work with electricity. The teacher
will write numbers on the board i.e.
776 5329 4400
4138 6389 1169
3822
4314 5356 7386
and ask the KIPSians-the Performers to read it. She will then cover the numbers and ask the KIPSians-the
Performers to tell as many numbers as they can remember.
Methodology:
 The teacher will tell the KIPSians-the Performers that we can’t remember numbers in a second but
there is something which can remember all the facts and numbers. What is it?
 Now she will write different numbers on the board and ask the KIPSians-the Performers to add them
in a second.
i.e. 4387
7389
0012
4599
9999

_____________
 The teacher will ask the KIPSians-the Performers that we cannot calculate these numbers in a second
but there is 9 machine which can do this, name it.
 The teacher will tell the KIPSians-the Performers that a computer is an electronic machine which
makes quick calculations and deal with large amounts of information. She will tell them that we

remember things because of memory and a computer has it too and computers help us in doing a lot
of things. She will encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to share what computers do for us in the
bubble map.
 The teacher will tell the KIPSians-the Performers that a computer is also called a personal computer
or PC.
 She will then ask them how does a computer work? And do we put something in it?
 The teacher will tell the KIPSians-the Performers that the information we put in it is called data. It
may be numbers, symbols, pictures or words.
 Reading of page no. 3 will be done.
 She will then introduce page no 4 and encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to solve it.
 The teacher will encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to share why we should be computer
literate. She will tell them that knowing computer is as necessary as knowing yourself because it is
the source which can helps us in knowing and learning what is going on around us.
 She will encourage them to understand that Muslims have been sent on the Earth to observe life and
nature. They have been sent for discovery, creativity and innovation so it is our religious duty also to
lead the world by knowing the world.

Time Allocated: 80 min
(Period 3+4)
Objectives:
i. To enable the KIPSians-the Performers to understand what is computer hardware?
ii. To enable the KIPSians-the Performers to understand what are input and output devices?
Approach:
The teacher will encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to share their homework.
Methodology:
 The teacher will show a computer the KIPSians-the Performers and ask them are they able to see
all parts of a computer? She will clarify that some parts are hard and physical we can see or touch
them i.e. we can see and touch a keyboard, a mouse, a system unit, a monitor, a printer and
speakers but we can’t touch the memory. The parts which can be touched or seen are called the
computer hardware.
 She will ask the KIPSians-the Performers to close their eyes and she will display a picture on the
board and then ask them to tell what she has done. Then she will ask them to open their eyes and
look at the board. She will ask the KIPSians-the Performers which part of the body has helped
them to know what is there on the board? What part has send a message to their brain? She will
encourage them to understand the answer that is “eyes”.
The teacher will then encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to name the devices which are used
to put data into the computer.
The teacher will clarify that this work is done by the keyboard and mouse and they are input
devices.
 Now the teacher will ask the KIPSians-the Performers to name the devices which show the
results and help them to understand that these are monitor and printer. She will tell them that
these are input devices. Monitor produces the results on screen and printer prints the results on a
paper.
 Reading of page 6+7 will be done with understanding.

LEADING THROUGH KNOWLEDGE 1st Term 2015-16 Designed and Developed by the Curriculum Development Department of KIPSchool |Page 2 Time Allocated: 80 min (Period 1+2) Objectives: To enable the KIPSians-the Performers to understand what is a computer and what is its importance. Approach: The teacher will encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to share what machines do for us. She will also encourage them to share the names of some machines which work with electricity. The teacher will write numbers on the board i.e. 776 5329 4400 4138 6389 1169 3822 4314 5356 7386 and ask the KIPSians-the Performers to read it. She will then cover the numbers and ask the KIPSians-the Performers to tell as many numbers as they can remember. Methodology:  The teacher will tell the KIPSians-the Performers that we can’t remember numbers in a second but there is something which can remember all the facts and numbers. What is it?  Now she will write different numbers on the board and ask the KIPSians-the Performers to add them in a second. i.e. 4387 7389 0012 4599 9999 0888 7423 2000 + _____________  The teacher will ask the KIPSians-the Performers that we cannot calculate these numbers in a second but there is 9 machine which can do this, name it.  The teacher will tell the KIPSians-the Performers that a computer is an electronic machine which makes quick calculations and deal with large amounts of information. She will tell them that we

She will encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to share what computers do for us in the bubble map.  The teacher will tell the KIPSians-the Performers that a computer is also called a personal computer or PC.  She will then ask them how does a computer work? And do we put something in it?  The teacher will tell the KIPSians-the Performers that the information we put in it is called data. It may be numbers, symbols, pictures or words.  Reading of page no. 3 will be done.  She will then introduce page no 4 and encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to solve it.  The teacher will encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to share why we should be computer literate. She will tell them that knowing computer is as necessary as knowing yourself because it is the source which can helps us in knowing and learning what is going on around us.  She will encourage them to understand that Muslims have been sent on the Earth to observe life and nature. To enable the KIPSians-the Performers to understand what is computer hardware? ii. To enable the KIPSians-the Performers to understand what are input and output devices? Approach: The teacher will encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to share their homework. Methodology:  The teacher will show a computer the KIPSians-the Performers and ask them are they able to see all parts of a computer? She will clarify that some parts are hard and physical we can see or touch them i.e. we can see and touch a keyboard, a mouse, a system unit, a monitor, a printer and speakers but we can’t touch the memory. The parts which can be touched or seen are called the computer hardware.  She will ask the KIPSians-the Performers to close their eyes and she will display a picture on the board and then ask them to tell what she has done. Then she will ask them to open their eyes and look at the board. She will ask the KIPSians-the Performers which part of the body has helped them to know what is there on the board? What part has send a message to their brain? She will encourage them to understand the answer that is “eyes”. The teacher will then encourage the KIPSians-the Performers to name the devices which are used to put data into the computer. The teacher will clarify that this work is done by the keyboard and mouse and they are input devices.  Now the teacher will ask the KIPSians-the Performers to name the devices which show the results and help them to understand that these are monitor and printer. She will tell them that these are input devices. Monitor produces the results on screen and printer prints the results on a paper.  Reading of page 6+7 will be done with understanding.
