Academic History
• I did graphic design in school which would help me as it prepared
me with the basic skills of how to web design, making mock ups,
making of physical designs, how to look at things from the
perspective of a graphic designer and being able to pick up on
smaller, lesser noticed details. It made me want to study further in
it as I really enjoy the process of watching it all come together and
making a product out of your own intuition and skill that people
will see and seek interest in.
• I am currently doing a media course at college which has given me
more knowledge and skills with the software such as photoshop
which is a main program used to create graphic designs and I have
found myself coming to grips with it fairly quickly and unlocking
new skills and knowledge through trail and error. This is also along
with making music videos which I excelled in as music is a large
part of me and with the use of premier pro and apps on my phone I
was able to make a product I am proud of. With my knowledge I
intend on learning how to use after affects to further my skills.
Current Study
• This media course has given me lots of knowledge and skills
on how to use multiple software's such as, premier pro,
photoshop, after affects and capcut which I learned in my
own time but has accompanied the other software's. It also
mentally preparing me for written work loads, time
management and work standards. I've made 2 music videos,
animations, magazine covers, double page spreads, posters,
mock ups, audio productions, foleys and much more. With
all of these tasks I've done its given me lots of knowledge on
how to use each software with some skills such as,
audio/foley mixing, editing film footage/ editing pictures for
poster, magazines etc. it pushed me to want to progress
further as it is something I enjoy thoroughly and want to gain
more knowledge and further my skills in especially after
affects as that holds the software and facilities to accompany
what I would like to do and edit with.
The Future
• In the future id like to have a career in
filming/editing of film, music videos, graphic
design or make music and learn how to fully self
produce, mix and master it myself as it is already
one of my personal hobby but I would like to do
the producing/mixing/mastering myself. With
university I can push my skills and knowledge
further by haqving the facilities to do that and
polish off my crafts.
Outside College
• Outside of college I like to film on my camcorder
as I really like that older look and intend on
getting a vhs camera, I also like to edit them to
music or just to make videos. I also make music
too which I write a rap my vocals, I have made
music videos for my own music too in my free
time and made one for my first year fmp. I'm
going to also getting in touch with a family friend
who makes music videos for rappers and other
musicians, he also mixes and masters music and I
may be able to get an apprentice with him. Giving
me more experience and knowledge making me
more prepared for the university environment.
Conclusion
• I would like to enrol into university as I want to
further my knowledge into media, filmmaking and
editing specifically. With university I can also use
more complicated and advanced software
specifically after affects which will help me achieve
my goal of being able to edit professionally but also
give me many avenues of business to go down as I
can manipulate and change the editing to my likes
or a possible customers likes. I feel like I am a good
candidate as once I begin a project I become very
invested and wont stop until it is finished and as
polished as can be whilst also giving my work its
own unique flare of myself, my interests and how
the form into a physical project.
Introduction
• I am applying for filmmaking, media, music
production and graphic design as all of these are
some of my personal hobby's which I've been
doing for a long time but I want to further my
skills and knowledge in them and with university
I feel I can do that with gaining further
knowledge in photoshop and after affects whilst
also giving me the experience of the university
environment.
Year 1 Review
Which projects have you enjoyed most
this year & why?
• My favourite projects have been making the music
videos as its allowed me to fully express my artistic
vision by mixing both of my personal hobby’s. on the
first year final fmp they gave me full creative
freedom to use the camera I wanted which was an
old handy cam giving it that retro homemade look, I
also used my own music for it to personalise it even
more and with the editing I heavily edited but
manipulated the look of the old camera into my
favour by not making it too excessive and still letting
the natural look of the camera come through.
Which projects have you least enjoyed
[& why]?
• I least enjoyed the adventure project and audio
project just as they didn’t appeal to me and
included more written work rather than physical.
There was elements of the audio task I did enjoy
such as the writing of the story and recording it
as I could be fully creative with those elements,
but I was also dragged back due to some
technical difficulties. The adventure project also
was very linear with what it wanted and wouldn’t
allow much cretive control.
What is you biggest success
• I believe my biggest success was filming,
directing and editing all my own music video for
my own song as my fmp as it took a lot of time,
patience, back and forth collecting shots/editing
and was also extremely fun to apply that
creative process into a physical object that I
made entirely myself with help from a couple
friends. It also allowed me to explore different
editing styles and techniques giving me better
and valuable knowledge on it.
What has been your biggest mistake in
coursework
• I definitely feel like my time management was
my biggest fault as I struggled to concentrate
pushing work back and making it harder for
myself. It also made me rush some work
making it not as good as it could be also I feel
my motivation to some work could’ve been
better which correlated to my time
management also.
Which skills do you think you have
developed most?
• I feel like my skills with time management have
gradually gotten better and where especially good
with the physical projects as I felt I had more
motivation for them, my organisation with my
work and physical projects have also gradually
gotten better but could be better. Overall I feel my
skills in editing and understanding it have greatly
increased and by doing it in my spare time has
only pushed it to get better and more refined
What area are aiming to specialise in
during Year 2?
• I would like to specialise in filming and editing as
I both really enjoy the creation and creative
process behind both aspects of filming and then
the process of bringing it all together through
editing and creating into what you want it to
truly look like. Id like to take these and gain
more skills for these for the future as id like to
have a job in film or being a Filmer/editor for
musicians as I also make my own music and
would make my ow music videos too.

Editor's Notes

  • #5 Delete as appropriate. If you have not sat any resits, been at college last year or in FE education in previous years you can delete this slide.
  • #15 Write a short paragraph about subjects you’ve already studied at school/college that have helped prepare you for your chosen courses at University- level 2 or GCSE level. What did you make? What skills did you learn? Why did this make you want to progress on and study further etc.
  • #16 Talk about this course- Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology. Reference how it has helped you prepare for your chosen courses at University. What did you make? What skills did you learn? Why did this make you want to progress on and study further etc. Reference specific projects and software/hardware that you are familiar with.
  • #17 What do you want to do in the future (ensure it is related to the subjects you are applying for). How will university help you to achieve that?
  • #18 What do you do outside college? Any hobbies, part time jobs, client work, volunteer work? How does this make you a better candidate for university study?
  • #19 Summarise why you want to go to university. What will it help you achieve? Why are you a good candidate? Keep it short and to the point.
  • #20 Brief introduction referencing what subject/s (keep general if necessary) you are applying for and briefly why you want to go to university.
  • #22 Think about specific elements of projects and which you’ve enjoyed most
  • #25 We learn from our mistakes! So you need to talk about them!
  • #26 This isn’t just technical skills with cameras, software, etc, it could be skills in time management and organisation, etc
  • #27 Think about why this specialisation, how it fits with your goals for the future, etc.
