• This degree provides me with an innovative and academic
education in non-fiction film-making. I can also choose to
study different aspects of the media and cultural industries. I
will be able to graduate with highly developed film-making
skills as well as a sophisticated understanding of cinema.
• Something else that I like about this course is the fact that it is
in Newcastle which is not too far away from wear I currently
live, I also have a few friends that are going to this University
which is a small reason as I would like to study here.

Course Content
• This course is financially the best out of my options, I have
also been at York College for 2 years now therefore I am
aware of how things are. The Teachers will also have a better
understanding of me than anywhere else which will help with
future projects.
• In this course I will be focusing on the filming aspect of media
which is an area that I am wanting to explore and learn more
about as its something that I am wanting to pursue as a
career. There will also be aspects of editing within this course
which is beneficial to me because I am wanting to extend my
11. Academic History
• During school I studied Creative I media which was
something that I enjoyed a lot during school which is
why I later applied to a L3 Creative Media course at
York college which has helped me further extend my
knowledge in this chosen field. I learnt skills in this
course which consists of, editing on premiere pro and
after effects which was something that I had no
knowledge of before joining that course. Learning
these skills makes me want to learn more of a similar
nature as I enjoyed learning skills in my previous
course.
12. Current Study
• This course that I am currently on (L3 Extended
Diploma Creative Media and Technology) has helped
me prepare for my chosen courses at University
because I have been able to develop new skills that I
will be able to take into University. In this course I
have made multiple music videos and experimented
with audio based projects which are all things that I
would further explore at University. Experimenting
with all these different projects allows me to be able
to progress onto University with more background
knowledge and will help me with future projects.
13. The Future
• Ideally I would like to work in the filming industry for
big companies like BBC or ITV, I would also like to
become an editor for TV programs or even adverts.
The courses that I have applied for will allow me to
gain a better understanding on how to create more
work that is deemed to be professional.
14. Outside College
• Outside of college I work at ASDA which has enabled
me to have better communication skills which will
help me with meeting new people at University. I
also enjoy editing on premiere pro at home however
I never make anything serious but it just allows me to
learn new techniques which I can then apply to later
projects in the future.
15. Conclusion
• In conclusion I feel as if going to University will help
me achieve the knowledge that I need to then take
into future jobs. The courses that I have selected all
allow me to learn new skills and techniques that I
have wanted to learn for a while. I will be a good
candidate because I am wanting to learn new things
about creative media and especially the filming side
of it as its something that I am wanting to pursue as
a career.
16. Introduction
• The subjects that I will be applying for will be
creative media and more the filming side of creative
media. I am wanting to go to university as It should
allow me to gain more knowledge in the areas that I
am interested in which then later help me later in life
when I start applying for jobs in the future.
18. Which projects have you enjoyed most
this year & why?
• During this course I have enjoyed the music video
project the most as its something that I enjoy watching
in my spare time and I was genuinely excited to make
my own, I also wanted explore my skills and also learn
new skills which I can then take into further jobs and
courses that I may be interested.
• With my FMP I chose to do a music video because I
wanted to prove to myself that I can improve from my
previous project. This was quite challenging however I
enjoyed it because I knew that I had to do better and
show that I can always improve
19. Which projects have you least enjoyed
[& why]?
• The project I least enjoyed was the
adventure/animation project as animation is
something which I have no experience in and I
am not too interested in learning more about
animation as it doesn't really interest me.
• I also didn’t enjoy the audio project that much as
I found it hard to make a sound related project
without any visuals to go alongside it. However I
did enjoy making my own music which is
something that I enjoy doing in my own time.
20. What is you biggest success
• I think my FMP is my biggest success as it’s the
project that I put the absolute most effort into
and wanted to make a good job of it. I spent lots
of time with the postproduction side of things as I
wanted to make my editing unique and different
from my other projects.
• The FMP was the project where I learnt the most,
for example, I learnt how to manage my time
better, I learnt how to use aftereffects to my
advantage and create something that stands out
which is what I was trying to achieve.
21. What has been your biggest mistake in
coursework
• All throughout the coursework I feel as if my time
management has been my biggest mistake as I
constantly making myself rush work which
reduces the overall standard of my work, this
then therefore may give me lower marks as I am
rushing to complete deadlines and so on.
• This is something that I am trying to fix as its not
allowing me to show my full potential within
these projects
22. Which skills do you think you have
develop most?
• I have developed the most skills in Premiere Pro
and After Effects, I was completely new to these
software programs however I feel more than
comfortable using them to create something that
is at a professional standard.
• For example, some skills that I have developed
the most are my rotoscoping skills I have also
improved my overall skills in knowing what
certain effects do and where they are the most
effective.
23. What area are aiming to specialise in
during Year 2?
• I would like to specialise in Filming/editing. Every
project including filming and editing I have
enjoyed the most this year and it's also where I
feel like I produce my best work, this may be
because I have genuine interest in filming
therefore, I am more committed in making
something which is at a high enough standard.
• My goal for the future is to become a editor for
maybe BBC or ITV, if not a editor I would like to
be part of the camera crew.
Editor's Notes
