ADVOCACY JOURNALISM
Advocacy journalism is
A genre of journalism that is fact- based.
Supports a specific point of view on an issue.
Practiced by alternative media and special interest publications and
programs.
In this type of journalism, the journalists can be openly biased about
a particular person, or a group of people.
Single-sided opinions are resented in this type of journalism.
BROADCAST JOURNALISM
Broadcast journalism is
A type of news reporting presented to the public electronically or by
radio, television instead of being published in newspapers.
Media in broadcast journalism include television, radio and the
Internet.
INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM
Investigative journalism is
A form of journalism in which reporters deeply investigate a single
topic of interest, such as serious crimes, political corruption, or
corporate wrongdoing.
An investigative journalist may spend months or years researching
and preparing a report.
Investigative journalism is a primary source of information.
Most investigative journalism is conducted by newspapers, wire
services, and freelance journalists.
TABLOID JOURNALISM
Tabloid journalism is
 A style of journalism that emphasizes sensational crime
stories, gossip columns about celebrities and sports stars, junk food
news and astrology.
 Associated with tabloid-size newspapers.
Tabloid journalism often concerns itself with rumors about the
private lives of celebrities.
YELLOW JOURNALISM
Yellow journalism or the yellow press is
 A type of journalism that does not report much real news with facts.
 It uses shocking headlines that catch people's attention to sell
more newspapers.
 Yellow press newspapers have several columns and front-page
headlines about different types of news, such as sports and scandals.
They use bold layouts (with large illustrations and perhaps color), and
stories reported using unnamed sources.
PRINT JOURNALISM
It is mainly concerned with the practice of reporting news and
related content through newspapers, magazines and periodicals.
In earlier times, newspapers were the most powerful medium for
those wanting to voice certain issues that are prevalent in society.
 In order to pursue a career in Print Journalism, there are a wide
range of profiles available with the most prominent ones being a
correspondent reporter, columnist, copy editor and news editor and
with the intervention of the internet.
Many newspapers have their own digital platform, i.e. a website and
an app where you can explore more opportunities like that of a
Graphic Designer, Web Designer.
DIGITAL JOURNALISM
Online, Cyber or Digital Journalism.
This form brought an array of perks to the domain of news media as
it not only democratized the flow and distribution of information
between diverse mediums such as newspapers, radio or TV but also
minimized production costs along with adding new advancements in
editing and recording techniques.
In the contemporary world, even the ordinary man can record a
piece of any event on their mobile phone with average camera quality
and post it online.
Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Specialist, Content Curator,
Digital Journalist, amongst others.
SPORTS JOURNALISM
Facilitates the coverage of sports events through a wide range of
news mediums, be it TV, digital platforms or newspapers.
 It actually commenced as leisure section in newspapers which was
targeted towards the social elite during the early 1800s.
 In the present time, it has developed into one of the full-fledged
types of Journalism as more and more sports leagues and events have
now surfaced.
As a Sports Journalist, you will get the opportunity to see the sports
team up and close as well as holding the coverage of the whole
league, while the reporting aspect requires you to be authentic and
factual as any error, be it score-related or other informative content
can be perilous.
PHOTOJOURNALISM
The potential of elucidating even the most simpler and overlooked
issues in a thought-provoking manner.

fetch thought-provoking stories and capture those neglected aspects

 It emphasizes on those ideas, programs, activities, policies and
happenings that are concerned with the interaction between a
government and its people.
Developmental Journalism plays that essential role to shed light on
those facets in a society which need to be voiced especially in
underprivileged areas and their struggle with poverty, education,
health and other aspects that have been overlooked by the ruling
authorities.
 As a Developmental Journalist, your pivotal aim is to explore the
impact of rural development in your country and highlight the
concerns of those who are still deprived of their rights and basic
WATCHDOG JOURNALISM
Watchdog journalism means the category which is proposed to
protect the society against illegal activity.
Watchdog and investigative journalism is similar.
This type of journalism is necessary to avoid wrong doing.
Journalist monitor and report all the activities.
 This type of journalism helps to ensure social power.
AGRICULTURAL JOURNALISM
Agricultural journalism is a profession of conducting or writing in
agriculture and allied subjects for a journal, which may be a
newspaper, a magazine, radio, a television.
This is a modern type of journalism.
Agriculture journalist provides the news related to farming, land,
problems in farming occupation etc.
There are different sectors in Agriculture as environmental welfare,
food industry, wine industry, and conservation bodies.
CITIZEN JOURNALISM
This type of journalism is based upon public citizen’s opinions.
 This journalism play an active role in the process of collecting,
reporting, analyzing, and disseminating news and information.
In this type of journalism generally audience employ the press tools
they have in their possession to inform one another.
 This journalism also depends on civic-mindedness and social
responsibility.
POLITICAL JOURNALISM
 This journalism focuses on Government schemes, policies etc.
It covers all the activities held on National, International and local
levels.
This journalism also report on the activities of elected officials,
political processes and the results of political work.
Political journalist reports all the political activities.

Types of Journalism

  • 2. ADVOCACY JOURNALISM Advocacy journalism is A genre of journalism that is fact- based. Supports a specific point of view on an issue. Practiced by alternative media and special interest publications and programs. In this type of journalism, the journalists can be openly biased about a particular person, or a group of people. Single-sided opinions are resented in this type of journalism.
  • 3. BROADCAST JOURNALISM Broadcast journalism is A type of news reporting presented to the public electronically or by radio, television instead of being published in newspapers. Media in broadcast journalism include television, radio and the Internet.
  • 4. INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM Investigative journalism is A form of journalism in which reporters deeply investigate a single topic of interest, such as serious crimes, political corruption, or corporate wrongdoing. An investigative journalist may spend months or years researching and preparing a report. Investigative journalism is a primary source of information. Most investigative journalism is conducted by newspapers, wire services, and freelance journalists.
  • 5. TABLOID JOURNALISM Tabloid journalism is  A style of journalism that emphasizes sensational crime stories, gossip columns about celebrities and sports stars, junk food news and astrology.  Associated with tabloid-size newspapers. Tabloid journalism often concerns itself with rumors about the private lives of celebrities.
  • 6. YELLOW JOURNALISM Yellow journalism or the yellow press is  A type of journalism that does not report much real news with facts.  It uses shocking headlines that catch people's attention to sell more newspapers.  Yellow press newspapers have several columns and front-page headlines about different types of news, such as sports and scandals. They use bold layouts (with large illustrations and perhaps color), and stories reported using unnamed sources.
  • 7. PRINT JOURNALISM It is mainly concerned with the practice of reporting news and related content through newspapers, magazines and periodicals. In earlier times, newspapers were the most powerful medium for those wanting to voice certain issues that are prevalent in society.  In order to pursue a career in Print Journalism, there are a wide range of profiles available with the most prominent ones being a correspondent reporter, columnist, copy editor and news editor and with the intervention of the internet. Many newspapers have their own digital platform, i.e. a website and an app where you can explore more opportunities like that of a Graphic Designer, Web Designer.
  • 8. DIGITAL JOURNALISM Online, Cyber or Digital Journalism. This form brought an array of perks to the domain of news media as it not only democratized the flow and distribution of information between diverse mediums such as newspapers, radio or TV but also minimized production costs along with adding new advancements in editing and recording techniques. In the contemporary world, even the ordinary man can record a piece of any event on their mobile phone with average camera quality and post it online. Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Specialist, Content Curator, Digital Journalist, amongst others.
  • 9. SPORTS JOURNALISM Facilitates the coverage of sports events through a wide range of news mediums, be it TV, digital platforms or newspapers.  It actually commenced as leisure section in newspapers which was targeted towards the social elite during the early 1800s.  In the present time, it has developed into one of the full-fledged types of Journalism as more and more sports leagues and events have now surfaced. As a Sports Journalist, you will get the opportunity to see the sports team up and close as well as holding the coverage of the whole league, while the reporting aspect requires you to be authentic and factual as any error, be it score-related or other informative content can be perilous.
  • 10. PHOTOJOURNALISM The potential of elucidating even the most simpler and overlooked issues in a thought-provoking manner. Travelling remains an essential part of the life of a photojournalist as you will be required to go to the farthest corners of the globe to fetch thought-provoking stories and capture those neglected aspects of a society that need a voice to reach their concerns in a manner which is subtle yet powerful.

DEVELOPMENTAL JOURNALISM  Developmental Journalism has its core focus on promoting the welfare of the general public and society.  It emphasizes on those ideas, programs, activities, policies and happenings that are concerned with the interaction between a government and its people. Developmental Journalism plays that essential role to shed light on those facets in a society which need to be voiced especially in underprivileged areas and their struggle with poverty, education, health and other aspects that have been overlooked by the ruling authorities.  As a Developmental Journalist, your pivotal aim is to explore the impact of rural development in your country and highlight the concerns of those who are still deprived of their rights and basic

WATCHDOG JOURNALISM Watchdog journalism means the category which is proposed to protect the society against illegal activity. Watchdog and investigative journalism is similar. This type of journalism is necessary to avoid wrong doing. Journalist monitor and report all the activities.  This type of journalism helps to ensure social power.
  • 13. AGRICULTURAL JOURNALISM Agricultural journalism is a profession of conducting or writing in agriculture and allied subjects for a journal, which may be a newspaper, a magazine, radio, a television. This is a modern type of journalism. Agriculture journalist provides the news related to farming, land, problems in farming occupation etc. There are different sectors in Agriculture as environmental welfare, food industry, wine industry, and conservation bodies.
  • 14. CITIZEN JOURNALISM This type of journalism is based upon public citizen’s opinions.  This journalism play an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing, and disseminating news and information. In this type of journalism generally audience employ the press tools they have in their possession to inform one another.  This journalism also depends on civic-mindedness and social responsibility.
  • 15. POLITICAL JOURNALISM  This journalism focuses on Government schemes, policies etc. It covers all the activities held on National, International and local levels. This journalism also report on the activities of elected officials, political processes and the results of political work. Political journalist reports all the political activities.
