1. Types Of Classification Essays
Writing an essay on the topic "Types of Classification Essays" can be a challenging task, as it
requires a deep understanding of the various categories and subcategories that fall under the
broader classification essay genre. The difficulty lies in not only identifying and defining these
types but also in effectively communicating their distinctive features to the reader.
Firstly, one needs to delve into the fundamentals of classification essays and understand how
they function as a genre. This involves grasping the concept of categorization and the purpose of
sorting elements into different groups based on shared characteristics. Next, the writer must
navigate through the diverse landscape of classification essay types, ranging from simple
classifications to more complex ones that involve multiple criteria.
To create a comprehensive essay, extensive research and meticulous organization of information
are essential. It demands a thorough exploration of each type, ensuring that the nuances are
accurately represented. The writer must articulate the criteria used for classification and provide
clear examples to illustrate each category. This level of detail requires careful thought and a
systematic approach to avoid confusion and maintain clarity throughout the essay.
Moreover, crafting a well-structured essay involves not only presenting the types but also
establishing a logical flow between them. Transitioning seamlessly from one category to another
requires a thoughtful arrangement of ideas to guide the reader through the classification process
without causing disorientation.
In addition, maintaining a balance between depth and conciseness is crucial. The challenge lies in
providing sufficient information to adequately cover each type while avoiding unnecessary
verbosity. Striking this balance requires constant evaluation and revision to ensure that the essay
remains focused and engaging.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Types of Classification Essays" demands a
combination of analytical skills, research proficiency, and effective communication. The process
involves navigating through various classification types, organizing information meticulously,
and presenting it in a coherent and engaging manner. While challenging, mastering this task

2. A Poison Tree Poem Analysis
A boy upset by a mistake he made; devastated, he beats himself up and dwells on
the negative. One day he goes home and someone cheered him up and made him
look on the bright side and he learned that there is always a bright side to a
situation. When people make a mistake they have to learn to forgive them and not
to dwell on it. This idea can be seen in the following poems A Poison Tree by
William Blake and A total stranger one black day by e.e. Cummings. Both of these
poems convey the message that People need to learn to love someone and not to hate
them and to forgive their mistakes.
Through A Poison Tree William Blake conveys that do not hate someone learn to get
over it and forgive the person that made a mistake. The use of allusion expresses this
theme because it is referring to the french revolution and the french revolution. The
french revolution expresses the theme because the revolution started because the
leader made a mistake and almost bankrupted the country and the people did not
like that; so they killed the king. William Blake states, when the night had veild the
pole/ in the morning glad I see/ my foe outstretched beneath the tree (14 16). Blake
uses allusion to show that the people in France should have forgave the leader
instead of killing him. It connects to the theme because if they learned to forgive
the leader and they wouldn t regret killing him. Another literary device William
Blake uses to convey the theme is the use of a metaphor because he would cry
every night because his wrath is growing so much. William Blake states, And I
waterd it in fears (5). Blake uses metaphor to show that he wanted the person to stop
but he would not and he would hate him more and more to the point where he
murdered the person he envied. Blake wants the reader to see that the character is
angry, and it is growing so much to the point where he can not handle him anymore;
It connects to the theme because if he learned to forgive him and talk about the
problem with his foe they would become friends again and love each other.
Similarly in A total stranger one black day e.e. Cummings conveys that everyone
makes mistakes, but when it happens, people need to learn to forgive and love
oneself. e.e.
3. Alcoholism Disease
Alcoholism as a Disease Alcoholism is a chronic brain disease of addiction.
Diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, HIV Aids, affect some type of cell in the human
body. Every organ is made up of multiple cells that work together to allow proper
functioning of the organ. These diseases may affect one or multiple organs in the
body. There is a concern amongst researchers that alcoholismhas a particular affect on
brain cells. The disease of Alcoholism impairs a human being s brain functioning,
similarly to how other diseases cause impairment in organ functioning within the
body. In order to fully understand this disease, one must be familiar with the brain
and how the body processes alcohol. Alcohol stays in the body and waits to become
metabolized, suppressing normal brain functioning when settled for an extended
period of time after extreme consumption. To personal belief, alcoholism is a disease
of the brain caused by excessive drinking. If... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As previously noted, when an individual consumes an excessive amount of alcohol,
it sits in the brain waiting to become metabolized. While doing so, normal brain
functioning become suppressed, causing impairment in the cells that make up the
brain. Most believe that alcoholism can be controlled. I agree with that statement to
an extent. To personal belief, the misuse of substances is used as a negative coping
strategy. The individual could have developed positive, less addicting, coping
strategies when dealing with everyday stressors. On the other end of that argument,
I strongly believe that the excessive use of alcohol could affect brain cells, which
disables proper functioning of the organ itself. Due to the fact that an individual can
control his or her alcohol consumption, society tends to blame the individual who is
suffering. Individuals who are defined by society s standards as an alcoholic are
stereotyped as lazy, incompetent, and a
4. Yemen s Water Crisis and the Pending Destabilization
Yemen s Water Crisis and the Pending Destabilization
The country of Yemen is on the verge of imploding due to a water crisis. When the
water runs out Yemen will destabilize and with it the entire Horn of Africa (HOA).
The United States has many ongoing militaristic, economic, and diplomatic interests
in the HOA. In order for the Horn of Africa to remain stable the United States needs
to take a different approach with its humanitarian efforts in Yemen, utilizing the full
support of the military. If delivery and implementation of humanitarian aid are not
planned and coordinated with full military operational support the process will be
doomed, as so many humanitarian efforts have been in the past. Specifically if the
water crisis in Yemen is not addressed it will destabilize the country causing increased
violent extremist activity and civil unrest. Without water for its people the Yemeni
government will be weakened allowing militant Islamic groups to regain power
within Yemen and the HOA, ultimately threatening the United States Homeland.
Look no further than the recent conflict in Syria as a prime example. Francesco
Femia and Caitlin Werell, co founders of the think tank Center for Climate and
Security believe a severe drought contributed to the conflict in Syria. A
mismanagement of natural resources, and a heavy reliance on water intensive crops
compounded the effects of the drought. They believe the huge migration of farmers

6. Horniman Horticulture Case
Case #9:
HORNIMAN HORTICULTURE
Synopsis and Objectives
This case captures the problems concerning cash flow and working capital
management typical of small, growing businesses. At the end of 2005, Bob and
Maggie Brown have completed their third year of operating Horniman Horticulture, a
$1 million revenue woody shrub nursery in central Virginia. While experiencing
booming demand and improving margins, the Browns are puzzled by their
plummeting cash balance. The case highlights the difference between cash flow and
accounting profits, as well as the common negative effects of growth on cash flow.
It also provides a forum for instilling appreciation for the relevance of free cash flow
to business owners and managers, introducing ... Show more content on

b. Reduce investment Improve receivable collection time. Horniman is well above
industry norms. One can question the wisdom of growing the small nursery business,
which appears to require generous financing terms. Improve inventory days. This is
part of Horniman s business; it is unclear whether the inventory can be improved,
particularly if they are moving to more mature plants. The analysis to make this
trade off is similar to that of the payables policy. One would divide the expected
margin gain by the increase in inventory levels to compute a marginal return on
capital. One additional level of concern is the substantial additional risk associated
with increasing inventory when facing uncertainty with respect to the effects of
interest rates and adverse weather. Reduce investment in net fixed assets. Horniman
already seems to be operating efficiently. NFA turnover has increased strongly over
the past year; in fact, there is valid concern that capital expenditures are going to
need to increase going forward. c. Increase business financing Debt or equity
financing. With annual free cash flow reaching levels of в€’$278,000, the business
is burning a lot of cash. One should expect that if nothing is done to the business
model, debt requirements will become larger and larger. It is unclear whether Maggie
is interested in leveraging the business and risking possible default with an adverse
weather event.

7. The Core Beliefs Of The Anglo-Saxons In Beowulf
The core beliefs and the things the anglo saxons saw as important are clear
throughout the story of beowulf. The anglo saxons believed in strong loyalty to
each other and to the leader. The anglo saxons also had a pagan background and
saw warriors as high members of society. All these beliefs and core values are
exhibited in beowulf.
Beowulf has a strong anglo saxon values sprinkled through it including a strong
sense of loyalty. This sense of loyalty shows up time and time again within
beowulf. One of the most notable times loyalty is brought up in beowulf is in The
Last Battle. Wiglaf is the character used to show loyalty. Beowulf is in a battle and
his soldiers leave out of fear, Wiglaf decides that the most loyal and honorable thing
to do is go help his king fight. Even though his chances of survival are low, Wiglaf
goes back to help his king. This sense of loyalty that would mean loyalty even until
death shows how strongly the anglo saxons valued loyalty. ... Show more content on

The most prominent example of of the pagan background is Grendel. While the
people of this story show connections with christian beliefs, Grendel connects more
with the pagan background of the anglo saxons. Grendel is the opponent of the
people and he is evil, this is a very similar connection to the christian versus pagan
conflict in the anglo saxon culture. The christians or good guys try to fight off the
pagans, the bad guys, because their belief systems don t line up. In the story,
however, Grendel kills the people and eats them in his cave. The conflict between
christian and pagan beliefs within the anglo saxon history shows up in
8. Cello Recital
For my second concert report I chose to listen to Michael Warrick s cello recital.
Throughout his last two pieces he was accompanied by pianist. The first concert
that I went to was Kristine Mezines Non Degree Piano Recital. During her
performance she played piano alone on stage the entire session and was only
accompanied by a page turner. These two concerts were vastly different, their tones
and styles were opposites, and clearly the pianoand cello have many differences in
their sound. As far as the basic differences, the stage was organized during the cello
recital where as during the piano recital the stage was cluttered with all sorts of
objects and the curtains were not closed which caused a distraction. The timing on
when to clap was different as well, during the piano recital I knew exactly when a
piece was finished and when to clap. However, during the cello recital I was
completely lost; Warrick paused multiple times throughout his recital and I am still
not sure why that was. Also I liked how he bowed after each piece, I... Show more

This piece had a very majestic tone, although I did find the dynamic a little too
jarring at times. Some of the notes sounded scratchy and unpleasant, perhaps this
was to add a certain bitterness. There were many moments during this performance
that only one instrument was being played while the other artist just sat there, I
found this odd, it was like combining two solos. I did really enjoy when the pianist
would play really loudly and abruptly, until the cello started, then the pianist would
get much quieter. I liked this because it was like a tug and pull between the two,
which kept the piece energetic. This piece also had many runs, on the cello and
piano which at times ran little too long to me, but added moments of predictability
which was nice. This performance ended very very softly and subtly, it was a fantastic
9. Life In The Upper Class
The upper class were very wealthy and owned an abundance of land. Thus, they
did not want to live close to the unsanitary city but instead in spacious land where
they could build a huge estate. These areas include the Eastern Suburbs and the
North Shore in Sydney and the Yarra, Toorak, Kew, Hawthorn, St. Kilda and Bay
at Brighton suburbs in Melbourne. They lived on higher planes of land, often on
top of hills as it was the furthest away from the factory pollution and had a low risk
of flooding. Spread of disease and bacteria was decreased by the medication, clean
clothes and larger accommodation that the upper class could afford which
prevented the spread of disease and prepared for the need of isolation if an disease
epidemic ever occurred. Working conditions were much better as a majority of the
upper class were born into rich families that eliminated the need of women and
children to work and established men in a high hierarchical position from a very
early age which only required them to manage and overlook factories or enterprises....

They often lived in leafier, airier suburbs where pollution was further away and
enabled them to not live in such unhygienic and dangerous conditions such as an
overcrowded house with poor light supply and little ventilation. They were able to
afford to live comfortably with a few luxuries. Their working conditions were less
laborious and reside in the tertiary and quaternary sectors of the government system
where work was knowledge and service based. Their jobs were comfortable and
earned respect from members of the
10. American Culture Influence On Politics
When America began the social culture was founded on morals based on the
Christian religion. Women stayed home, men worked, and African Americans were
enslaved. Therefore, when America s constitution and political structure were
designed it was based off that typical idea. Women did not have the right to vote,
slaves were в…— of a person and white men had all the power. Social cultures in a
country are a direct reflection to what the government is designed like. Hence, why I
have come to the conclusion that cultural explanations have more persuasive impact
on politics than economic or institutional explanations. The concept of American
freedom is a perfect example of how cultureplays a significant role in politics.
America was designed based... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Money plays a role in politics, there is no denying that or not acknowledging that.
However, I believe that culture plays a far larger role. Politics are based on what the
country is like and that all depends on the people and what we are like. So essentially,
culture is almost everything. Take the United Kingdomfor example, they would not
have a queen if it was not part of their cultural. Yes, the royal family is technically a
part of the government, however, they play the role as the perfect citizens . People
who follow all laws and traditions that people can look up to and model after. They
partake in the largest part of the United Kingdom culture. Taking gay marriage as
another example, a thousand years ago that would be too far of an absurd idea to
even make it in a political conversation. Though over these past few years it has
been the topic of most political debates. Culture is changing, what once was is not
anymore. God, the Christian culture might place a role in our country but the church
is not as powerful as it used to be. The Christian morals and values that people used
to stand on in America is not here anymore. With all the social trends it has had a
reflection on what our government has become. Specifically in election years, if our
social culture was going through a change then it would highly influence how the
election would end
11. The Justification Of Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
Brutus possesses a gullible personality, which becomes justified when he trusts a
random letter, when Caesar reacts dramatically as he stabs him, and when he allows
Antony to give a speech at Caesar s funeral. After reading a letter lying by the
window, Brutus changes his perspective to Caesar completely. After reading aloud, he
fully believes that the revolt Cassius proposed recently is justified through a mere
letter thrown at his window. Furthermore, within this letter, he shows an inclination
in perspective right away as he says to himself: Shall Rome, etc. Thus must piece
out:... (2.1.51). He does not bother first to determine the true text and meaning of this
message, however, his judgement falls on first impressions, showing his lack of
common sense and how manipulable he is. Moreover, after reading this forged letter,
Brutus never questions the authenticity of the message, demonstrating that he is
gullible enough to trust unknown and unreliable sources like Cassius.... Show more

During the last moments of Caesar s life, he cries out to Brutus: Et tu, Brute? ,
which translates literally to, and you, Brutus? . By the context of the play, Caesar s
surprised expression is justified as it is known to the audience from the exposition
that Brutus was a dear friend to him, as trustworthy as an angel. This rash action of
committing sudden mutiny to Caesar truly shows the magnitude of how Brutus has
been manipulated as now he kills Caesar boldly out of love, not for him, but now to
the Roman Republic in which he believes that he is doing a great service

14. Essay The Treatment of Women of Ancient Babylon
Some aspects of the lifestyle ancient civilizations lived almost seem appalling or
intolerable when compared to the very developed and carefully shaped the world
inhabited today. One of these characteristics of previous societies that prove to be
rather challenging to conceive in current times consists of the lack of rights,
privileges, and equity women had. Society maintained this assumption of a man s
superiority up until the women s rights movement of the early twentieth century; yet
with the two sexes essentially equal in America today, imagining a restricted life as a
female proves unfathomable. Looking back at the history of human kind, men almost
always subdued women and treated them as property. When focusing on the first...

A man had a decision to spare his wife in these particular circumstances as if she
was an unruly pet or piece of property. Therefore, one infers that life for women in
Babylon contained a constant need to assure a clean reputation and loyalty to the
husband. While penalties for adultery appear very serious and severe, divorce seems
to be a common occurrence in Babylon and punishments for incorrect divorce
procedures mostly result in a fine. In addition to a man s control over a woman s
sexuality, men held the power to divorce their wives for almost any reason in
particular while the law required women to provide a sufficient reason to initiate
divorce. For example, a man could divorce his wife simply for her inability to
produce children. If a seignior wishes to divorce his wife who did not bear him
children, he shall give her money to the full amount of her marriage price... and then
he may divorce her (Hammurabi). Women on the other hand, encountered many
obstacles when attempting to divorce their spouses. if a seignior s wife, who was
living in the house of the seignior, has made up her mind to leave in order that she
may engage in business, thus neglecting her house...they shall prove it against her

expectations of fertility, responsibility for the household, and compliance. These
expectations of women dominated
15. Resilience And Adversity
Resilience The Power to Overcome Adversity
The life of Nelson Mandela has inspired many to pursue the essence of resilience
and the ways in which people recover from adversity to strength. The argument lies
in whether resilience is a born quality or something that could be learned. In looking
to find the answer to this question, I had to read several articles on the subject which
turned out to be quite of a challenge, but most of the information available concluded
that resilience is a process that is learned versus something that which is innate. It s a
process that is learned from self motivation, life experiences and continual learning
versus a quality that one is born with.
Resilience is the outcome of successful adaptation to adversity ... Show more content

Insight is built on the experience of having been understood by a caring and attentive
other and is a product of secure attachment. Consistent experiences of empathic
attunement deepen our capacity for insight and reality testing. As we mature
emotionally and cognitively we broaden our ability to recognize and appreciate
others subjectivity and separateness as well as the capacity to reflect on our own
experience. Inherent to this is an appreciation that other behaviors are not necessarily
directed toward us, even when we are affected by them. These abilities are essential
to resilience in that they allow us to tolerate experiences of existential isolation. It
was this constellation of qualities that allowed Mandela to persevere in the struggle
against apartheid and sustained him during the years spent on Robin Island.
In the face of adversity, one has to be open to acceptance. The resilient individual is
sustained by an inherent capacity for acceptance; that is an ability to accept what
cannot be changed and ultimately embracing the life that one has been given. At
times, this may involve a willingness to surrender, and nearly always, it demands an
openness to love others as they

17. Essay on Make-up of Life-giving Cells
What is a cell? A cell is the structural, functional and biological unit of all organisms

cells work together in synergy to perform the bodily functions God has given man
to maintain homeostasis. The cells that work in harmony consist of an array of cells
such as, epidermal, nerve, or muscle. As these various cells work together they form
a biological machine to give life. Before the discovery the cell, many had their theory

The nucleolus is where the ribosomes or protein factories are manufactured. From its
production it is exported through the nuclear pores and into the cytoplasm to
begin its protein manufacturing. The second major part of the eukaryotic cell is
the cytoplasm. This serves as the cell s fluid medium or matrix. This jellylike fluid
allows the organelles or little organs to float within it. Cytoplasm also contains
many dissolved chemicals. The cytoplasm and organelles use the properties within
it to create chemical reactions to produce energy as well as recycling. To give
added structure to the cell, the cytoplasm contains a cytoskeleton to prevent being

This gives rigidity like a buildings steel beams. These beams also hold the

special container where they are shipped by the microtubules. At the center of the
microtubules is the centrosome. This structure is where the microtubules branch off,
which is near the middle of the cell. The centrosome is called the organizing center

At the center of the centrosome is where the commands are made called the

19. The Creation Of A Utopian Civilization Essay
In an imperfect world such as ours, the idea of a utopia capable of satisfying all
needs and desires has been attempted to be made reality time and time again.
However, few have succeeded because it is difficult if not impossible to
accommodate a large population of people with varying interests. The key to
maintaining a utopian civilization is ensuring that all basic needs are met in order to
avoid the overthrow of the established government regulation activity. The creation of
Bentopia is centered around the goal to make the most efficient society possible
while still allowing citizens the freedom to choose. As the architectural committee,
we strived to develop both public and personal spaces that optimize the use of space
in a non wasteful manner, while also keeping in mind the climate, geographical
location of our city, and environmental impact our structures have. The way we have
organized houses, shopping malls, governmental and corporate buildings within our
utopia is meant to maximize resources we have on hand through the division of the
city into three districts. The most important considerations when creating a layout fit
for a utopia fifty years into the future is offering a comfortable, sustainable lifestyle
while still retaining core values of free will and equality. The practical distribution of
material goods should not jeopardize basic rights that are standard within an ideal
society. When first approaching the dilemma on how to allot land, the urban

The spectrum of an OFDM, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signal
OFDM Spectrum
One requirement of the OFDM transmitting and receiving systems is that they must
be linear. Any non linearity will cause interference between the carriers as a result of
inter modulation distortion. This will introduce unwanted signals that would cause
interference and impair the orthogonality of the transmission.
In terms of the equipment to be used the high peak to average ratio of multi carrier
systems such as OFDM requires the RF final amplifier on the output of the
transmitter to be able to handle the peaks whilst the average power is much lower
and this leads to inefficiency. In some systems the peaks are limited. Although this
introduces distortion that results in a higher level of data errors, the system can rely
on the error correction to remove them.
Data on OFDM
The data to be transmitted on an OFDM signal is spread across the carriers of the
signal, each carrier taking part of the payload. This reduces the data rate taken by
each carrier. The lower data rate has

Toying with Success: The McFarlane Toy Company
Todd McFarlane, president and CEO of the McFarlane Companies, is an
entrepreneur who understands the importance of product development. Comics,
sports, toys, and rock and roll have all benefited from his creativity. When
McFarlane s dream to play major league baseball didn t happen, he fell back on
another interest he developed as a teenager drawing superheroes. He faced the
same question faced by all entrepreneurs: Could he make money pursuing his
dream? He sent his sketches to prospective employers, and after 300 rejection

Todd McFarlane s purchase of Mark McGwire s 70th home run ball for $3 million
illustrates his willingness to take a risk and focus on what he controls. While many
thought he was crazy, McFarlane saw an opportunity. He combined the ball with
several others hit by McGwire and Sammy Sosa to create the McFarlane Collection,
which was displayed in every major league stadium and garnered enormous publicity.
A portion of the proceeds was donated to the Lou Gehrig Foundation. Most
significant, McFarlane began a relationship with professional sports that led to his
obtaining the exclusive rights to nearly every professional sports team toy license.

23. Florida Vs Arizona Essay
Two seemingly similar places Arizona and Florida are two seemly similar places,
but when you compare the two they have very different pros and cons. Florida is a
humid place, and Arizona is a dry heat. Florida is normally sunny as well as
Arizona but it gets much more rain then Arizona because it s basically an island
state. If you re looking for a bigger difference in seasons Arizona is great because
the winters are colder, and there is snow in the northern area of Arizona, while you
won t ever get any in Florida. If you re looking for a relatively warm place all year
round Florida is great. Being that Arizona is a desert state the humidity and
rainfall is much lower. The average high in Arizona summers is a strikingly high
104 degrees while Florida s average high is 92 degrees. The winter s high median in
Arizona is 48 degrees while Florida stands at 50 degrees. Usually in Arizona the
wettest month is March with around 1 and Florida s wettest month is usually June
with around 7 . Arizona is the smaller state of the two with a population of
6,553,255 while Florida is standing at 19,317,568, so Arizona may be better if you

24. Ecthyma Impetigo Research Paper
My interest with the topic impetigo is at the highest peak because one day I see
myself working with children as a Certified Medical Assistant. My goal is to find the
most common diseases in children, and impetigo is one of them.
Impetigo is a skin condition consisting of blisters, sores, and yellow brown crust
surrounding the face mostly, especially the mouth. This disease is contagious it can
be passed onto people with direct contact and the touching and sharing of items such
as clothes or drying your hands off on the same towel. (MD, 2017 )
Ecthyma impetigo is a more serious kind because it is going through the second layer
of your skin, often called deep impetigo . People who are diabetic or have a weak
immune system are more likely to develop Ecthyma. ... Show more content on

United
Religion has been a major force in the history of the United States and in settling
the colonies of America in many ways. Religion was definitely one of the major
reasons for the founding of the colonies. The early colonists wanted the freedom to
worship God as they had seen as proper, and they were promised this freedom of
worship. Most of these colonies were deeply rooted in their religious beliefs. Religion
was a powerful influence on the social and political life of the colonial times in the
New World. Typically, in the colonies, the church was a large building in the middle
of a town and was used for town meetings and community gatherings in addition to
worship. During this time, a church was the first building to go up, and the... Show

The Quakers and Puritans moved from their homes in Europe and England because
of the unfairness in their religious beliefs. They sought to reform the Anglican
religious practice, which was to purify the church and later became known as the
Puritans (Wood). They demanded for the removal of all Roman Catholic rituals and
wanted to simplify religion to its basics (Shi, 42). The Puritans landed in American
where new colonies were created. The Puritans did not accept those that believed
differently than they did. They left England because they refused to worship in
Anglican churches. The Puritans refused the Quakers and any others citizenship who
believed in a different form of worship. The Quakers had also refused to support the
Church of England and were under the leadership of William Penn. The Quakers
stamped their values on the government of Pennsylvania. Other Puritans that were not
as radical in their religious views later formed settlements along the Massachusetts
Bay (Wood).
The Pilgrims main reason in coming to America was that they were searching for the
freedom to worship. The Pilgrims, defined as a person who journeys to a place for
religious reasons, were also known as Separatists. The Separatists were with the
Pilgrims who traveled across the Atlantic and settled the first permanent English
settlement, Plymouth Colony in New England. The Separatists required that each
congregation rule itself and not be controlled by a bureaucracy

pick one to research. My friend Peter was the closest foreign culture I thought of.
We have been friends for more than four years and I realized he knew more about
my culture than I knew about his, so decided to use this opportunity to get to know
him better. Peter discussed intersecting topics about the education, rules, religion, and
rituals of the Japanese culture. One of the first topics my friends started talking about
was about how important is education. He believes that the Japanese educational
structure is kind of like a competition. This makes students, especially in prestigious
schools, to make important measures for university entrance examinations. He was
telling me that a lot of teenagers aspire to go to a four year school after high school.
About 40 percent of the total number of high school graduates go to a four year
university, junior colleges it s about 10 percent, and 30 percent attend vocational
schools (Sugimoto 119). My friend mentioned that where it starts to get competitive
is in middle school. Students are expected to learn a considerable amount of material
to reach the levels demanded by the examinations of high schools and universities.
Education in japan is so serious that there is a big business in tutoring schools. These
important schools are called juku schools. These after school coaching schools have
great successes because of the great competition over
27. The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos Essay
The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos
John Demos in a sense presents themes that are entirely familiar and conventional.
The themes of sin, retribution, and repentance are very prevalent in his writing.
The loss of piety, the failure of spiritual nerve, the absolute necessity of reform; and
the certainty of God s punishment if reform was not achieved appear throughout
his book (Demos). (In this instance, Eunice s failure to return to her native land is
putting her at risk in the eyes of God). For approximately 60 years John Williams
who had been a captive for almost two years, and is one of the main characters of the
story writes different letters, sermons, in an effort to reach the captive daughter.

The order of these writings is important as are the time and the setting in which each
one was composed. These writings reveal much of what captivity meant to him. In
addition, Demos incorporates parallels from the Bible such as biblical passages to
illustrate or compare the return of Naomi to Bethlehem in Stephen Williams sermon
to put pressure on his sister Euncie to return to Deefield (Demos 191). Noemi, in
effect was redeemed by returning to her home (Demos 192).
The circumstances of captivity were as varied as the number of people involved
on both sides. Prisoner redemption was the process of prisoner exchange that had
long been unfair. Captives were subject to ransom, trade for other key people, and
sometimes prisoners decided to remain in captivity since escape was very
dangerous. Acculturation which included adoption and repatriation were choices for
some of them as well. For example, Eunice s inability to speak English and her
personal appearance announce her loyalty to other standards (Demos 146). She had
been fully integrated or Indianized (Demos 142). Eunice comes of age in her adoptive
community, secure, and increasingly well integrated. The trauma of capture including

Juvenile sex offenders are frequently treated in the same manner as their adult
counterparts with regards to punishment and sex offender registering. Nationally,
juvenile sex offenders make up 20% of all individuals charged with sexual offenses
(McGinnis, 2006). Placing a sex offender label on a juvenile may unjustifiably put
restrictions on his or her opportunities in adulthood so it is for this reason that cases

When an offender is released he or she must register with law enforcement
agencies. This information has recently become public information. Several
websites exist to help law enforcement officials and community members. An
individual is able to keep track of offenders in his or her community. One of the
most popular online websites is Family Watchdog. Individuals can look up sexual
offenders anywhere in the nation. Offender s pictures are shown along with
descriptions of their crimes, home addresses, and sometimes, work addresses. All
this information can be accessed from this website. The goals of registering,
according to Matson (1999), are deterring offenders from committing future
crimes, providing law enforcement with additional investigative tools, and
increasing public protection. These registries can also be harmful to the offender.
Individuals living in the offender s community may set out to harm registrants.
This is one of the ways that an offender s life may be changed due to being branded
a sex offender. This is also one of the reasons why each case should be looked at on
an individual basis. Should every offender be made to register? How long should an
individual have to register? Should juveniles have to register as long as adults?
These are all questions that need to be looked at and evaluated. Checkpoint:

With so many games, it s hard to decide which is best . Personally, I find Tales of
Graces to be their best . This is due to the immersive battle system, strong characters,
diverse locations, and extensive optional content. The most critically acclaimed
portion of Graces is its battle system. Using the style shift linear motion Battle
System, battles are fast, fun, and challenging. Tales of

the coliseum, joke weapons and ultimate armor.
Along with this side content, Tales of Graces F offers much to do after completing
the main game. By loading the save after finishing the final boss, one can access the
zhonecage. The zhonecage is a dungeon in which you use valuable equipment to
enter a series of 10 rooms, each with a boss harder than the last.
Furthermore after defeating the final zhonecage boss, the final boss becomes stronger.
As with every Tales game, Tales of Graces F has a great new game +. It allows
players to carry over as much as they wish before replaying.
These are only a short few reasons as to why Graces is the best Tales game in my
opinion. Besides the aforementioned battle system and optional challenges, Graces
has amazing characters and an intriguing plot line. However even though I find it
the best of the series, many other titles come close. Xillia, for example, also has a
rich plot, and Zestiria has many likable characters. Overall, Tales of Graces F is the

30. The Violence Of The Black Lives Matter By Alicia Garza,...
What started off as a tweet turned into a movement and has now become a full on
war against police. Many African Americans are outraged by police and want
liberation, so they have joined Black Lives Matter in hopes of change. In order to
understand the movement, it is important to look at the history, the agenda, and
manifesto of this organization. The real questions at matter are what is its purpose of
this organization, how it is effecting law enforcement, and how is law enforcement
responding.
Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi are the creators of the now famous
hash tag Black Lives Matter. It was made as a call to action after George
Zimmerman was not held accountable for the fatal shooting of teen Trayvon Martin
in 2012. This incident was what gave life to the Black Lives Matter movement and
has reframed the way Americans perceive police treatments of people of color. It
was not until 2014 when it exploded all over social media after a Ferguson police
officer killed a young black man named Michael Brown. The book Forces of
Deviance: understanding the dark side of policing says, African Americans tend to
believe that the police were more corrupt, more unfair, harsher, tougher, less friendly,
and crueler than did whites. African Americans generally were more dissatisfied
with police service in comparison to the white population (Kappeler, Sluder, Alpert
6). Ferguson was exposed as a case study of structural racism in America and a

Water quality is important to consider for streams, especially in an urban setting. It
is important to understand water quality not only for the health of the ecosystem,
but also for humans who drink the water and use the water for recreational
purposes. In the city, it is difficult to maintain adequate water quality standards
because of factors like excessive pollutants from road runoff, sediments, nutrients,
and organic waste. The water levels are often sporadic and will vary by land use
such as a parking lot versus a park. A way to combat this problem is to manage or
restore the riparian zone by adding vegetation, encouraging infiltration, and reducing
runoff rates. Five sites in Austin, Texas were sampled, assessed, and analyzed to...

The Colorado River
The Colorado River had the highest water quality of all tested sites. The dissolved
oxygen at this site was 8.92 mg/L and could be attributed to a number of different
reasons (Table 1). The sample was taken when the sun was high and water
dwelling plants had been photosynthesizing for a number of hours. The water was
flowing fairly quickly and there was a small riffle at the area where the reading was
taken which could have increased dissolved oxygen of the water. The river had a
rocky gravel bottom which provided plenty of habitat for the macroinvertebrates that
reside in the river. The variety of macroinvertebrates that were found were indicators
of high water quality; species included caddisflies, mayflies, stoneflies, and dragonfly
larvae. The macroinvertebrates were all very large specimens, indicating a healthy
environment and plenty of resources to support their growth.
The site examined was downstream of the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Plant. The high
water quality at the Colorado River site could be partially attributed to the Plant s
ability to sanitize and reuse wastes and prevent contamination through leakages of
unclean water. The water at the Colorado River site was cool despite only mediocre
tree cover. The flow was quick in thinner parts of the river and slowed when it
widened out, giving
32. The Effect Of Friction On The Coefficient Of Friction
Introduction:
When two objects get in contact with each other the force between them forms.
Scientists call this force the frictional resistance, or friction. It occurs because of the
imperfections in the surfaces of objects, the molecules of both surfaces interfere with
each other creating a natural force between two objects. The friction opposes
direction of motion of the object and is parallel to the surface on which the action
takes place. The force and magnitude that are necessary to overcome friction can be
calculated. Area of objects that is involved in the contact is disregarded when
calculating friction.
Objectives:

The benefit that machine provides is called a mechanical advantage. Its amount is
defined by actual mechanical advantage (AMA, includes force of friction). There is
also an ideal mechanical advantage (IMA) but it does not take in account the force of
friction which is inevitable in our world.
Workinput=Workoutput+Workfriction
AMA=Resistance/Effort=Fr/В¬Fe
Where Fr is resistance and Fe is effort.
A person gains mechanical advantage from using the machine if the effort he has to
exert is less than resistance.

Efficiency of the machine is determined by the following formula: Eff=AMA

Eastman s improvements had the effect of moving photography from the
professional s studio, where it had evolved from the realm of portraiture and art, to
the world of the general consumer, (Carlisle 247). Photography was a difficult
hobby or profession to have in the mid 1800s. It was difficult because it needed
essential pieces of equipment in order to even come out with a decent picture.
Cameras were normally five by eight inches, and all the equipment that was needed
was a hassle to carry (Buckland and Lefer 250). It required a darkroom, a tripod,
and lots of chemicals. In a darkroom, a photographer had to coat a glass plate with
egg white, and then lay it on a solution of gun cotton and alcohol mixed with bromide

He started his business of photography in 1881, advertising dry photographic plates.
He moved on to patenting his film in 1884, and then in 1889 he patented a roll
film. He introduced his first camera, the Kodak camera (shown in picture two) in
1888 (Carlisle 247.) This is when the magic and joy of photography first began. He
called it a Kodak because he liked the strength of the letter K and reckoned it was a
word that would be pronounced the same in every language, (Buckland and Lefer
250). In 1889, Eastman fit his Kodak cameras with transparent nitrocellulose film.
This was a major breakthrough in the photography industry because it allowed easier
processing and developing of a photo (Buckland and Lefer 250).
Taking pictures with the Kodak camera was simpler than the earlier camera
because first, it did not require a darkroom or chemicals and glass plates. It did not
require any of these things because it was not only one person s job to develop and
take the photo. The photographer could send their camera in, and the Eastman Kodak
Company would develop the pictures for them. In the first year, 13,000 people
paid $25 for a Kodak; they each took 100 pictures, returned the camera and within
ten days, Kodak sent back the prints and camera with film for another 100 pictures,
(Buckland and Lefer 250). This opened up a whole new door for inexperienced
photographers. All they had to do was take pictures, and send the camera

events, such as this month s NCAA tournament March Madness , for example.1
While brackets will be broken, nets will be slashed, and the championship team

NCAA itself. While the relentless student athletes train rigorously day and night to
represent their schools, the athletes who participate do not see a single penny, even
though they are the ones who ...risk career ending injuries every time they onto the
court, field, or rink. The NCAA forces all amateur college athletes to sign a
contract, forbidding monetary compensation for their efforts and restricting them
from any sponsorship deals with payouts. This has posed a dilemma since the
early 1900s, because some of the best collegiate athletes have been dirt poor, while
the NCAA program has continued to make millions off of the names of athletes
who cannot afford to feed their own families. As a solution, all NCAA athletes
deserve to be paid. In the event that there were only one reason that college athletes
ought to be paid, it is that both the NCAA and the college itself utilizes players name
and status for its own financial benefit. Whether it is selling players jerseys or
signing autographs, the NCAA is successfully profiting off of the player whose
number is on the shirt, without giving any cut to the player himself. An eleven billion

40. Wedding Ceremony Is Important Day Of A Person s Life
Life is filled with many important moments. Whether it is personal
accomplishments, spiritual occurrences, coming of age or overall life changing
events, there is only a hand full of days considered to be the most important day of a
person s life. One of those existences is the wedding day. No matter what country,
race, cultureor religion, it cannot be denied that a weddingceremony is important.
While there may be hundreds of different traditions and rituals that take place during
a wedding ceremony, the general consensus is a wedding is something special. For
most it is more than just a contract. It is not only a celebration of a bride and groom,
but also the unity of family and bringing people together. Weddings are special in that,

Vincent DePaul has s significance to the family there was a determinism attached to
the decision of holding the ceremony in this particular place. As Tanner states in
The Notion of Culture, because culture is constitutive of humanity and cultures are
aligned social groups, the notion of culture suggest social determinism: society
decisively shapes the character of its members (p. 28). Oftentimes the ideology of
culture is associated with society as a whole, and how different races, ethnicities
and regions come together to develop such social groups, but family is just as much
of a culture as well. Families play a major role in the influence, shaping and
definition of an individual s characteristics, perceptions and values. Laura s parent s
wedding at St. Vincent DePaul may have had an influence on the family s culture.
The idea of meaning is correlated with this particular church is a culture Laura s
family has created, thus furthering the continuation of this tradition. Her family and
their values molded Laura and consequently she subconsciously internalized the
ritual of meaning linked with a St. Vincent DePaul Church wedding as a cultural
tradition. In a sense, Laura s venue was predetermined. Another aspect of the Bush s
wedding that could be deemed as a cultural feature, looking at it in a broader sense is
every decision they made. Varying from the music selected, to the
41. The Company Of Men By Neil Labute
In the Company of Men is a play written by Neil LaBute set in the 1990 s. The three
main characters are Howard, Christine, and Chad. It is revealed in the beginning of
the play that Chad and Howard have been friends since college, and that they work
in the same office building. While Chad and Howard are outside of the office,
Chad reveals that one day, he came home from work to find that the house had
been packed up, and his wife left him. While on the topic, Howard reveals that he
recently had his heart broken by a woman after she declined his marriage proposal.
While wallowing in their heartbreak, Chad proposes the idea of finding a girl, and
having Howard and himself date the girl simultaneously, only to break up with her

Howard breaks down and reveals that he bought a ring for Christine and he tells
her about the game that they have been playing at Christine s expense. Upon
returning, Christine tells Chad that she knows about the game, and Chad dumps
her, admitting that they were making a fool of her. A few weeks later, Howard
comes to Chad s home in the middle of the night unable to eat or sleep because he
feels so badly about what he did to Christine. Chad then reveals to Howard that his
wife never left him, and that the entire scheme was happening while Chad was still
married. Howard leaves disgusted and Chad goes to bed with his wife. Howard then
yells Listen as if Christine can hear him, and the play ends.
The Conflict of the play is created and perpetuated by Chad. Howard is manipulated
into going along with Chad s plan in order to victimize a young deaf woman
because he is mad with women as a whole. The initial conflict is that of a love
triangle in which Howard wants Christine, but Christine wants Chad. When Christine
first starts to have feelings for Chad, she rejects Howard s offer of lunch with a lie so
that she can have lunch with Chad. Howard caught Christine in her lie when he ran
into them at the same restaurant. This hurt Howard to such an extent that he sent
Chad on a business trip so that he could propose to Christine while Chad was not
around.

Thermoacoustic Refrigerator
Alamir, M.A., Elnegiry, E.A., Eltahan, H.R.
Abstract This study investigates the design and optimization steps of a
thermoacoustic refrigerator. Matlab code will be used for optimizing the stack length
and its position. DeltaEC version 6.3b11 will be used to do the code used for
simulating the refrigerator to identify the optimized operating conditions such as the
frequency, the mean pressure and the oscillating pressure. Behavior of changing the
operating conditions effect on the performance is discussed.

HERMOACOUSTIC refrigeration is from the emerging green technologies that
overcomes many of the environmental problems related to the ordinary vapor
compression cycles based refrigeration. Thermoacoustic refrigeration has ad vantages
of working with environment friendly inert fluids, simple design and possible quit
operation [1]. Optimizing of energy systems is important to provide the world need of

Thermoacoustic refrigeration system is composed of sim ple components as shown

from the function generator and the amplifier respectively, after that it transmits

43. A Comparison of Two Newspaper Articles
A Comparison of Two Newspaper Articles In this essay I will be comparing two
articles taken from local newspapers in different areas. I will be looking at the
techniques used in each article and their effectiveness. I will use this comparison to
eventually decide which article is the more effective of the two.
The two headlines from the articles are quite different. Inches from tragedy is a
large, bold headline written in a way that makes you want to see what the headline is
talking about, as it sounds serious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that both articles use emotive language very well, and that they are equally
good at getting there point across through using language.
Both of the articles feature one long, main interview and one shorter interview
towards the end of the article. The interviews have been included in each case to
give the reader an account of the events in the article from one of the people
involved. This is a good idea as people who were actually involved in the events of
the article will be able to give more information on what actually happened, and will
probably know things that no one else does. Having interviews also makes the reader
sympathise with the people involved, especially if it is coming from one of the
people mentioned in the main first paragraph of the article. The people who put
together the articles must make sure that everything they include in the interviews is
relevant and that they are not too long. I think that the article that uses interviews and
quotes better is probably Inches from tragedy, because all the information given is
relevant to and informative about what happened. I also think this because the
interviews featured are not too long and leave room in the article for other
information.
Having a picture in an article is a good idea, because it lets the reader see exactly
who was involved and let them see what effect the events of the article have had on
them

TAP s board of directors, and gaining preliminary agreement from union leaders, we
ve made the difficult decision to shut down the product lines and customer divisions
that cater to these low performing segments and focus only on luxury and economy

new customers in new markets, primarily in Asia.

47. Jung, Gardner, and Freud Comparison Essay
In today s society, education is more liberal, allowing people to think for
themselves and providing them with a broader education. This differs from many
years ago, when education was more conservative. Education was very basic,
consisting of only academic classes and no electives. People with a more
conservative education would never go against what they were taught. However,
liberally educated people of today can go against what they are taught, research it
themselves, and make new conclusions about their studies. A liberal education
enables people to deal with the forces that control their life. It frees them from the
restraints in everyday life. Having such a broad education allows people to deal with
such forces. Four... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of Gardner s liberal education, he was able to rise above those who received
a more conservative education. Carl Jung s essay, The Personal and the Collective
Unconscious based itself on a liberal education because it talks about psychology,
which falls under liberal education. Psychology is the study of mind and behavior.
A liberal education allows people to study this; however, a more conservative
education would not because studying the mind is not essential in academics.
Psychology studies the things that people cannot see, such as conscious and
unconscious states. It also allows people to not have to accept what other people
say. In the essay written by Jung, he stated, If in such cases we pursue our
observations systematically and without prejudice, we shall find material which,
although similar in form to the previous personal contents, yet seems to contain
allusions that go far beyond the personal sphere (345). Carl Jung did not agree
with Freud s theory, so he did his own research, and found Freud s research to be
inconclusive. Because of his liberal education and study in psychology, Jung was
able to control the forces in his life and did not agree with what was thought by
Freud. Plato s, The Allegory of the Cave shows that the prisoners of his story were
unable to see the truth because of their lack of a liberal education. In fact, at first they
could not see anything

As the song begins, the narrator seems to feel nostalgic about the music written by
a certain person, and he describes the way that music made him smile (1 3). He
misses the music from the past that could make people smile, and that could help
them forget their troubles. McLean seems to be referring to the 1950s, which is
clearer in the chorus of the song. As the speaker goes on, he says, But February made
me shiver / With every paper I d deliver. Here it is widely believe that Don McLeanis
referring to the death of Buddy Holly. He is said to have been delivering newspapers
on his paper route the February that he learned of Buddy Holly s death. The speaker

He thought that the Beatles were warning America about the racial conflict
happening at the time. Manson wrote the title of the song on the wall in blood after
committing the murders. In the line, We all got up to dance / Oh, but we never got
the chance, the writer could be speaking about how the Beatles wrote songs meant
for listening and not dancing. Throughout this verse, the writer talks about, players. I
believe that here he is most likely referring to the many protesters around this time.
He says, sweet perfume, (57) most likely to refer to the use of tear gas against
protestors. He seems to believe that the government is corrupt when he says, Cause
the players tried to take the field (61). Here he means that the protestors tried to create
change but the government would not allow them to make the changes. McLean
continues his allusions to events happening around him and in the past, and he again
ends the verse with his constantly repeated line, The day the music died.
The next verse seems to focus on the events that happened at Altamont in 1969. The
flower children gathered at Altamont, 300,000 strong, in a frenzy of drugs, alcohol
and escalating violence (Fann). McLean is pointing out here that the ideas of the
counterculture are obviously not going to

Theme The theme of the text City Upon a Hill by John Winthrop is that good
people have the role of being leaders, who make people strive to be better. John
Winthrop was a preacher upon the Arabella which was a ship carrying hundreds of
Puritans to Massachusetts from England to escape the religious persecution they
were facing. This shows us that he was a brave soul who wanted to help others to
get their religious freedoms. Throughout the story he states that he wanted to create
a model society, he says that for we must consider that wee shall be as a citty upon

Moses, the faithful servant of the lord, in his last farewell to Israel . He quotes

50. Dishonesty And Prejudice In The Well By Mildred D. Taylor
I enjoyed reading the story The Well by Mildred D. Taylor. Although this story is
rather short, I felt as though that this was a powerful read due to the theme of race
and prejudice. I also enjoyed how this story discussed topics of generosity as well as
themes of dishonesty and selfishness. Although the overarching theme in this story
was based on social issues, I also believe there is much to gain from this very short
story. I personally believe that this would be a difficult book to discuss with students
because raceis such a sensitive and emotional topic. I believe that introducing this
story and the difficulty for students to image what prejudice may be like or feel like
would benefit students from reading this story.
Although the major theme of this story is in regards to social issue and post slavery
I also enjoyed the themes of generosity, dishonesty and selfishness could also be ...

According to Tunnell and Jacobs 2012, Historical fiction can be an engaging reading
experience, which is perhaps the most important reason to involve its use in a
classroom (Tunnell, pg. 157). I agree with this statement and believe it holds true
to The Well and the five picture books that I have mentioned. I found myself very
engaged in all of these stories. Reading The Well I feel as though the author did a
great job at making the story seem very realistic as though I could picture myself
being in the story. This made me very engaged as I was reading this story and made
it a page turner. I could also feel the raw emotions that happened throughout the story.
After reading the five picture books I found that the events in the stories about
Martin Luther King Jr. were very similar and occurred in chronological order.
According to Tunnell and Jacobs 2012, When events are documented, they must not

51. Pro And Negative Effects Of Medical Technology
Though underappreciated, advancements in medical technology are imperative to the
success of the human race as a whole. For instance, some of the most common
medical procedures such as amputation, surgeries, the modern ambulance, and
anesthesia inhalers were created and popularized during the United States Civil War
(Rowe). Both during the civil war and currently, the advancements decrease death
tolls while making modern and future treatments safer, faster, and overall more
efficient. They have also given the more prevailing advancements a stepping stone to
develop and grow from, allowing the forthcoming medical technology to further
advance. We see this same pattern happening perpetually, creating a loop of
advancements that continue to build upon themselves and each other.
The U.S. has the most medically advanced medical care system in the world.
However, its services are mainly available to the affluent and middle class
consumers who have the financial means to demand these services (Botehlo 1991)
(Dewar). Full medical care isn t always readily available to all; only those who may
afford it have access to it. This is a result of the cost of the services themselves
being higher, due to the lack of supply (so to speak) and a growing demand.
However, Dewar stated, The practice of defensive medicine had an indirect impact on
technology utilization through the pressure for increased availability of technology
(Dewar). These pressures have encouraged the United States as a
52. Hamlet And Hamlet
While Shakespeare was writing Hamlet it s safe to assume that he would not realize
the repercussions that would arise. Surely, he did not know much about psychology
yet, he is referred to by many today as the world s first psychologist due to his play
Hamlet. Shakespeare was acutely aware of what was happening around him and he
was able to convey that through his work making the character Hamleta vessel for
audiences and readers alike to relate to. This relatability has since spilled over into
our culture and society and continues to influence modern artists. Hamlet has also
laid the foundations for many modern archetypes we see in entertainment today such
as; the tragic hero. Not only this but, Hamlet has also inspired many adaptations
such as The Lion King which played a large part in many young millenials lives
without many of them realizing it was based off of Hamlet. Although, this may be
considered Shakespeare s greatest play of all time there is no denying, it is
fundamentally flawed and has inevitably influenced our culture through those flaws
as well. Whether he did intentionally or not will never be known but never the less,
Shakespeare enveloped psychology into his work. Arguably, one of the more famous
things Shakespeare unintentionally influenced was Freudian psychology. Freud was
the true father of psychology and although many of his theories have been debunked
and disproved, they still had a major influence on the science and foundations behind
psychology.

Women are fundamentally oppressed by men into being homemakers and mothers.
Abortion allows women to take matters into their own hands and control their
oppression. According to radical feminists, abortion presents equality for women and
freedom from their traditional societal role. Altman states, The eradication of that
oppression and the establishment of true equality between men and women require
the elimination of laws that reinforce and reflect patriarchy. Laws that criminalize
abortion fit into that category because they deprive women of control over when and

William Jennings Bryan was born in Salem, Illinois. He was educated at Illinois
College in Jacksonville and Union Law School in Chicago. Bryan practiced law in

hoped to launch a political career. The Bryans became active in civic affairs and
started different discussion groups for men and women where the subject was often

Nebraska, but he won the election by a comfortable margin and was reelected in
