Vice Guide To Liberia Rhetorical Analysis
In the video Vice Guide to Liberia, Shane Smith uses different rhetorical devices to
display situations throughout the entire documentary. The video has a certain
negative tone which portrays the wild side of the country, surrounded by filth,
drugs, and teenage prostitution (Vice Guide to Liberia). There are a series of
allegories included within the video to add more negative effect on the series of
situations. The imagery is crucial to the video because of the scheme played by
Shane Smith which contradicts with the video. Techniques used in this video to lay

One can see how Smith portrays the bad side of Liberia which includes vivid
imagery to support the wild side. On the other side the pictures shows a variety of
justified stuff which happens to be the best imagery. The two references somehow
contradict each other. With that, the sources show how each of the messages is
conveyed differently and much onto a different level. The swimming pool shown in
the video, looked nearly very rough and devastated. While in the picture from a
different source it conveys a very positive message and children playing in it create

Human Development is a product of conditioning, learning and reinforcement.
When we think of human development, it s easy to think of it as a process that is
largely complete once we hit early adulthood. It is important to realize, however,
that development is an ongoing process that continues all throughout life. As you
enter adulthood, navigate middle age and face the on set of old age, having a
greater understanding of how people continue to grow and change as they get older
can help you appreciate and manage all the stages of your life. I will understand that
I grow and change as I grow older and can help me appreciate and manage all my
stages in life. And I will gain a better appreciation of development throughout life.
They can help us find sources of behavior and trends, and account for the path that
individuals follow, whether these can be called paths of growth or lack of progress.
All theories have something valuable to help in our understanding of human
development. As a student, Human development helps me understand myself better.
Learning more about Human Development can provide additional insight in the
person I have become. Studying Human Development can provide me with the
necessary tools to help guide me and understand life better. Studying human
development as a student will help me to be able to differentiate something normal

This consists of taking the most recent period amount and subtracting it by the

year end of Dec 31st, 2015 that number decreased by 14.09% to $12.5 Billion. In
order to better judge the change in PPE, a vertical analysis needs to be calculated to

Executive Branch Essay
The comparison of a state with great plains and a state with mighty mountains seems
unimaginable but very possible, at least on governmental standpoint. The great state
of Illinois and one of the original state, North Carolina, have set up a state
government very similar to the federal government and similar to each other. Their
comparisons and contrasts are most noticeable in the legislative and executive
branches.
There are three main parts of an executive branch; The president, the vice president,
and the cabinet. The president is the head of the U.S. executive branch, but in state
executive branches the governor is the head honcho. Every State in America has a
governor that is the chief executive of the state, responsible for ... Show more content

legislative branch typically is a bicameral system. The only exception to this is the
state of Nebraska which only has a senate and not a house of representatives. The
legislative power of the state of Illinois is vested in the General Assembly, which is
composed of a 59 member Senate and a 118 member House of Representatives. North
Carolina s Senate has 50 members and their House of Representatives has 120
members. After those blaring differences Illinois and North Carolina s Legislature
branches are quite similar. Their regular activities are enacting, amending or repealing
laws, passing resolutions, adopting appropriation bills and conducting inquiries on
proposed legislation. Both states legislation acts on amendments to the U.S.
Constitution when they are submitted by Congress, and proposes and submits
amendments to the Illinois Constitution for consideration by voter. During the
scenario of an impeachment, both states House of Representatives has the sole power
of impeachment, while the Senate serves as adjudicator. If a majority of the members
of the House vote to impeach, the case proceeds to the Senate for trial. The Senate
cannot impose any punishment on an impeached and convicted office holder other
than removal from office. These two states show multiple similarities in the
legislative branch and very few differences.
As anyone can tell the two great states of Illinois and North Carolina have many
similarities and differences in their legislative and executive branches of state
government. Overall, one thing is sure these two states contribute the magnificents of
the greatest nation on earth; The United States of
Compare And Contrast Democratic Party And Republican
Party
The two major political parties in the United States of America are the Democratic
party and the Republican party. Both have mostly differing views as Democrats tend
to be liberal and Republicans tend to be conservative. Democrats, usually, believe in
the inherent good of humankind while Republicans tend to believe human nature is
not inherently so pure. The two parties also have different opinions on the role of the
government; Republicans believe the government is there to protect the peoples
rights and Democrats believe the government should have a strong role. Another
important topic to cover is the American s rights versus responsibilities. Democrats
tend to believe we are guaranteed more rights than given responsibilities and
Republicans believe the opposite. With all this in mind, which party has a more
ethical and correct platform?
The democratic party s platform states cooperation is better than conflict, unity is
better than division, empowerment is better than resentment, and bridges are better
than walls. Democrats believe in removing barriers and creating opportunities.
One way this can be accomplished is by ending systematic racism; this can be done
by pushing for social reform, removing the Confederate flag from public property
as it is a racist symbol and by closing the racial pay and wealth gap. Another reform
the democrat will push for is the criminal justice system. Privatized prisons and
detention centers need to be ended as well as change for
Love, Lust, and Tragedy in William Shakespeare s Romeo
and...
Love is the forceful attraction between two people blossomed from desire and
intimacy. Lust is physical manifestation of what many would call love, but in reality
this feeling can bend the will of any man and woman alike. Lust is power, it is
passion, and it can motivate. One thing love and lust has in common: they have the
ability to kill. Thus tragedy strikes a wary, yet inevitable, sentiment every person
experiences at least once in their lifetime.
Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
Everybody knows Romeo and Juliet are supposedly in love; many think otherwise.
For example, this love story is a romance, a love on a path with death. Ever heard of
Bonnie and Clyde, Cleopatra and Marc Antony, or the couple from titanic? If so...

Fantasy is a foreshadowing of what is to come. For example, Romeo and Juliet had
their life together to look forward to, many disagree, but someone who thinks like

Wagner needed to find an opera and sponsor, skilled enough and wealthy enough, to
perform his opera the second obstacle Wagner needed to conquer, which was nearly
impossible due to the fact that no opera wanted to premiere Tristan und Isolde
because of its eccentricity. The lengthy time period it took for the operato be produced
took a toll on the pre conceived notions of the magnitude of the grandeur of its
premiere. The initial city which was chosen to perform Tristan und Isoldewas in
Vienna, Austria, where it took 77 rehearsals at the Hofoper in Vienna in 1863 before
the orchestra declared it unplayable. Through the word of mouth of the music

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
After the discovery of electricity, effective and efficient methods have been sought to
store energy for use on demand. Over the last century, industries which work towards
the effective storage of energy have been evolving and adapting to change in energy
requirements and advances in technology.
Energy storage systems help in providing various technological approaches to the
effective and efficient management of electricity in order to create a more resilient
energy infrastructure and maximize cost savings to consumers.
Biofuel is a form of fuel produced under biological carbon fixation (such as
anaerobic digestion and agriculture). Biofuels are in various forms and are used
widely in achieving energy storage needs. Biofuels are a known source of renewable
energy because of its great environmental advantages, which includes reduced
greenhouse gas emissions. The form of biofuels is categorized into three generations,
with each generation containing various fuels.
First Generation Biofuels: This generation of biofuels are generally gotten from
arable crops. They are different from the second generation biofuels in the sense that
they are derived from plant dry matter (biomass), agricultural residues and woody
crops. First generation biofuels are referred to as the original
Examples Of Femininity In The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid: Hegemonic Femininity The transition from a girl to a woman is
created by the socially implemented ideals of femininity depicted in commercials,
books, and mainly films. One of the famous animated princess Disney films, The
Little Mermaid can be easily added to yet another Disney film portraying hegemonic
femininity. In the 1989 film The Little Mermaid(Ron Clements, John Musker), a
beautiful, young mermaid is willing to make a risky deal with an evil sea witch
because she yearns to walk on land and fall in love with a prince, while secretly the
sea witch wishes for the mermaid to lose the deal. Ultimately, mermaid ends up
achieving her dream of marrying the prince although the evil sea witch tries to
destroy the plan. Throughout the fantasy/ melodrama film, the main protagonist Ariel

Wandering free, wish I could be part of your world, is what Ariel sings as she
daydreams of prince Eric. She strongly believes she needs him to be happy and that
without him she is incapable of doing so. That is why Ariel takes Ursula s deal,
changes her body and sacrifices her voice while leaving her family behind. This
validates the hegemonic code of femininity because women are seen as individuals
who cannot take care of themselves and are only complete with a man.
After the climax, when the deal has been made with Ursula, Ariel finds herself in a
difficult situation. With only having three days to get a kiss of true love from
prince Eric, she undoubtedly needs Eric s kiss to save her. Getting close to the end
of the film, there is a scene where Ariel and Eric are taking a boat ride. All the sea
creatures try to set the mood so Eric can kiss Ariel. Without that kiss Ariel will lose
her voice forever and her true love. This scene proves once again how women are
incomplete without men, that they need a hero and prince charming to save
Reflection On Classwork
My lesson began as class usually does, with students completing the Do Now up on
the board: having notebooks and pencils ready, picking up the warm up sheet from
the back, and writing the homework in their planner. Since there was no homework
from the previous day, we were able to go right into the warm up. I walked around
the classroom to make sure students had the warm up and were beginning to work.
Students were unusually quiet, probably due to the camera and Keith s presence, so I
reminded them that they were allowed to discuss the warm up. I stopped to help one
student get started finding the missing side lengths of two similar triangles and
helped another remember how to divide fractions for the last question. After the
students had about 5 minutes to work on the warm up, I displayed a blank warm up
using the document camera and asked for students to share their answers. I asked an
additional question about what the scale factor was for the triangles and modeled
using the scale factor to find the missing side lengths. pointed out to students that all
the fraction questions related to a pair of corresponding side lengths in the triangles
from the first question, recalling that we could use fractions to represent or find
corresponding sides in similar shapes.
Next, I introduced that we will be exploring proportional relationships on a graph
and that we would be trying a new style of group work. I explained the structure to
the students, that they would be in groups of

Analysis Of The Little Prince
The novel The Little Prince was originally published in 1943. Antoine De Saint was
a pioneering aviator, a prominent aristocrat, poet and writer, and thus the novel; The
Little Prince was inspired by his real life experiences (SiМЃs). He only added a few
fictionalized imageries to enhance the merit and understandability of the book to his
audience (Cengage Learning Gale). The book has demonstrated massive success as it
has sold over 140 million copies worldwide translated into more than 300 languages
and dialects, and thus becoming the best selling book ever published (Howard and
Mortensen). More significantly, this novel is one of the most key books because of
its thoughtful and introspective nature, and hence bringing hope to humanbeings. The
little princeis one of the children s must read handbooks with philosophy for grown
ups. This is as a result of the book s significant poetic and optimistic reflections
primarily on the existence of human beings (Cengage Learning Gale). The novel
demonstrates the author s practical artistic skills through his lyrical, charming and
well illustrations made throughout the book, sweeping the audience into a whirl
hood of childhood fancy (Saint ExupeМЃry). The Little Prince is a simple book with
a combination of satire, philosophy, science, imagination and childish vivacity that
can command the attention of grown ups and children s hearts and minds.
Through his book, Antoine De Saint Exupery communicates important values that
grown ups overlooks more often in everyday life. The Little Prince is written as a
children s novel. However, it be can analyze at various diverse levels. Therefore, it
s important to note that a child or an adult is not defined by the age, but rather by
the state of mind (Weber and Probert). Although The Little Prince is designed as a
childhood novel, it makes several explanations and clarifications regarding human
life and nature, and hence it s optimistic. For instance, The Little Prince is depicted
as one of the two protagonists of the story. Hence, after leaving his home planet and
his rose which he adored so much, he traveled around the world, ending up on Earth.
He was puzzled by the behavior of grown ups (Howard and Mortensen). The

were two societies that were left alone for many years until the era of exploration
started. These two civilization have some similarities and differences, but those
similarities and differences made up the civilization. One of the similarities major is
that both empires had social classes. They both were polytheistic, one of the favored
gods of both empires was the Sun God. Both societies practiced human sacrifice,
though the Aztecs practiced it more heavily. They were both located in the Americas,
the Aztecs had their empire in Mexicoand the Incas had their empire in South
America along the west coast. Another major similarity is that their economies were
The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde
The play, The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde was written in the
Victorian Age of England. During this time morality was connected with sexual
restraint and strict codes of conduct in public. This play hilariously critiques
Victorian moral and social values while the characters in the play try to figure out
the meaning of earnestness . Wilde uses humor and irony to publicly ridicule the
self aggrandizing attitude of the Victorian upper classes, as well as to expose their
duplicity and hypocrisy in regards to their social behaviors. The characters in the
play are the primary source of the humor and irony. In Otto Reinert s Satiric
Strategy in the Importance of Being Earnest he points out that, Wilde s basic
formula for satire is their (the characters) assumption of a code of behavior that
represents the reality that Victorian convention pretends to ignore (Reinert 15).
The main character, Jack Worthing, is a prime example of this. To function in
society he creates an alter ego named Ernest. This way, he can be Ernest in town
and Jack in the country (Wilde 1737). Jack represents his conventional Victorian
side he has responsibility as a guardian in the country, where it is his duty to adopt
a very high moral tone on all subjects (Wilde 1738). Ernest, however, enables Jack
to throw away his real life troubles and act carelessly, something he could never do as
Jack. The dual nature of his character satirizes the hypocrisy in conventional Victorian
Risk Assessment And Its Effects On The Workplace

Introduction: In risk assessment, the whole process deals with prioritizing the risks
on the basis of levels of likelihoods and their impacts. If the likelihood and impacts
are high then they will be considered more important to sort out as compare to others.
Workers in industries, face several types of risks every day. Sometimes these risks
cause due to simple exposure, sometimes they occur in the result of some reaction

Helping Veterans With Mental Disorders
One major concern that our society currently has is how to help veterans with mental
disorders. According to research, about 30,000 people killed themselves and nearly
650,000 other people were seen in the emergency room after a suicide attempt after
serving in the Vietnam war (Wineke, 2007). During this time the government had
concerns about readjustment difficulties for veterans as they were returning home
from war. Eventually, the nation expressed their concern about the mental health of
returning veterans, and in 1970, the congress conducted the first hearing to address
these issues (Rosenheck and Fontana, 1999). Service members reported having
several psychological problems, including anxiety, depression, nightmares, and
insomnia following a return from a combat zone. The Vietnam era was the turning
point in assessment and treatment of combat related psychological distress
(Tanielian, 2008). Post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, was officially defined as a
mental disorder in 1979, in recognition of the potentially disabling mental health
challenges confronting veterans returning from the war: The most lasting
contribution of Vietnam to the history of battle trauma is the legacy of post traumatic
stress disorder (Helmus and Glenn, 2005). The National Vietnam Veterans
Readjustment Study (NVVRS) estimated that, in 1998, 15 percent (472,000) of those
who had served in Vietnam met the criteria for active PTSD (Rosenheck and
Fontana, 1999). A study of over 100,000
Theme Of Sexuality In Songs Of Innocence And Of
Experience...
As a forerunner to the free love movement, late eighteenth century poet, engraver,
and artist, William Blake (1757 1827), has clear sexual overtones in many of his
poems, and he layers his work with sexual double entendres and symbolism. Within
the discussion of sexuality in his work Songs of Innocence and of Experience, Blake
seems to take a complicated view of women. His speakers use constructs of
contraries, specifically innocence/ experience and male/female. Of the latter sex, he
experiments with the passive (dependent, docile, virtuous) and active (independent,
evil, a threat to the masculine) female subjects. Blake s use of personification
specifically of nature and botany suggest the use of nature to discuss human society.

Sun flower, and The Lilly. Wolfson argues that these three poems tell a tale in
three chapters, (266) however each poem stands beautifully on its own only

lyrics involve the personification of flowers. Often characterized for their
delicateness and beauty, symbolizing love, and female sexuality, Blake uses botany
to again establish a sense of sexual relationship within the poem. My Pretty Rose
Tree is constructed in two heroic quatrains written with an ABAB ACAC rhyme

(opportunity or other woman) as well as their protestation that he has his own
pretty rose tree (Blake, Rose Tree 3) and does not need another. The outcome of his
fidelity personifies the already feminized and objectified rose tree as jealous and
dependent on the speaker for tend[ing] (6). In the trees jealousy, she only provides
her barren thorns (8) for the speaker s efforts in which he states is his only delight
(8). Suggesting that the only delight a woman is capable of is the physical
appearance. The thorns take on the Biblical symbolism of the crown of thorns in
which Jesus wears up to his crucifixion to cause him pain and to mock his claim for
authority. Similarly, the rose tree mocks the speaker s possessive authority over her

important that you own than your family. In the text it states, Wish I could run home
and tell Ma and see her nod and hear her say, I knew you could. It would be enough.
(page 99) This quote shows that Billie Jo loves her mother, and kind of took her
mother for granted. Billie Jo used to hate her mother when she said, I knew you

To date, there are five large and important areas of research that have been either
neglected: (1) the sequence of drugs used and the development of different drug using
patterns; (2) the individual, group, and cultural factors influencing low risk and high
risk outcomes among equivalent drug users; (3) the changing attitudes of both users
and nonusers toward psychoactive drug use; (4) the impact of the media on drug use
and drug choice; and (5) the process of socialization as it applies to patterns of drug
use (http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/zinberg7.htm). I feel that we should also
focus on studies: how drugs influence individual health and behavior, what use is
being made of drug research, and how its findings influence public policy decisions.
I hope that this drug research will stimulate other investigators/researchers to accept
long term, studies of psychoactive drug using behavior as a
How Candidiasis Is A Fungal Infection Caused By Yeasts
Candidiasis: Overview and Causes
Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by yeasts that belong to the genus Candida.
There are at least 15 distinct Candida species that cause human disease, but 90% of
invasive disease is caused by the 5 most common pathogens, C. albicans, C. glabrata,
C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, and C. krusei with candida albicans being the most
prevalent.(Ostrosky Zeichner et al., 2015) Candida yeasts normally reside in the
intestinal tract and can be found on mucous membranes and skin without causing
infection; however, overgrowth of these organisms can cause symptoms to develop.
Symptoms of candidiasis vary depending on the area of the body that is
infected.(CDC, 2016e)
The different types of Candidiasis are determined by the area of the body they affect.
Oropharyngeal candidiasis, otherwise known as Thrush, inhabits the buccal cavity or
throat. Candidiasis of the vagina is commonly referred to as a yeast infection. The
most clinically significant version of candidiasis is invasive candidiasis, which
happens as a result of a candida species entering the bloodstream and spreading
throughout the body. Invasive candidiasis is primarily found in immunocompromised
patients such as those suffering from HIV, undergoing corticosteroid therapy,
chemotherapy, or those with diabetes.
Candidiasis: Signs and Symptoms and Sequelae
Thrush is relatively easy to recognise as white patches can be observed on the tongue
and other oral mucous membranes. Symptoms
St Rose Of Lima Research Paper
Saint Rose of Lima is the patron saint of beauty due to her remarkable
appearance.Rose is an innovation to many, because unlike many people today, she
loathed her beauty due to being too alluring. I chose Saint Rose because she didn t
like people being tempted by her or staring at her. Rose only wanted to satisfy her
parents and God. I also chose this saint because throughout her early life, she did
things people normally would not contemplate or endeavour. Her feast day is on
August 23th on the modern calendar, and in some countries it is on August 30th.

Essay about The Vulnerability of Weak Passwords
Passwords
This lab was to discuss the vulnerability of weak passwords. We were thought how to
crack our own passwords using a method called john the ripper . We also found out
how secure various passwords and how long it would take for a desktop Pc to crack
these passwords. We looked up various methods and applications to crack passwords.

The Importance Of Operant Conditioning
Operant Conditioning Within the early 19th Century, Edward Throne like conducted
experiments on dogs and cats to determine the way these animals behave under
certain conditions. These studies were conducted through replicating and
standardizing the circumstances that the animals were in through a controlled
environment. As such, this model demonstrated that animals had the nature to learn
when they were presented with certain consequences. In 1938, Burrhus Friederich (B.
F.) developed the core idea of the Operant ConditioningSkinner, which claims that
operant conditioning, was brought about by the response from the operant under
threat (Sakagami, Lattal, 2016). Some factors were involved in the increase of the
operant conditioning especially when Edward Thorndike was examining the behavior
of cats and rats. It was necessary to consider the problem solving abilities of these
animals within puzzle boxes that would otherwise lead the animals in a state of
constraint. Moreover, there was a need to understand the relationship exhibited
between the appropriate reaction to the individual situation and the associated
strengths to the same. Moreover, other factors such as the ability of the animals to
learn under the conditions presented as was later proven by Skinner.
The core principles that are important in understanding the operant conditioning and
how it may result in the retention offer includes the operant variability where the
individual may experience emitted behavioral

B. F. Skinner
Burrhus Frederic Skinner, psychologist and behaviorist, was born in Susquhanna,
Pennsylvania in 1904 to William Skinner and Grace Burrhus. His father was a
lawywer and his mother was a naturally bright woman. Skinner had only one sibling;
his brother died at the age of sixteen. Skinner lived most of his life in Susquhanna.
He did not leave the house he was born in until he left to go to college. He was raised
very close to his grandparents, who had a major impact on his early life. He was also
close to his parents. He and his mother and father all graduated from the same high
school. This was the same school that he had attended for all twelve years of his
education.

He had always taken notice of the way that people reacted to certain situations.
This interest had become obvious when he was in grade school and had continued

Gender Bias And Gender Inequality
The average american female only makes в…” of what the average male does.
Whether it is in school, or the workforce, gender inequality still exists and is a
major problem. There is still a huge difference in the way women get treated
compared to the way men get treated. Due to the invisible barrier that is holding
back the success of women, social realities need to be redefined in order for gender
inequality to longer exist. Gender inequality refers to the unequal rights,
responsibilities and opportunities of women and men and girls and boys. There are
three main ideas that contribute to it, but there are still many others that do too.
One of them is sexism, which refers to the range of attitudes, beliefs, policies, laws,
and behaviors that discriminate on the basis of gender. A second idea that also
contributes is gender roles. Gender roles are rights, responsibilities, expectations,
and relationships of men and women in a society. The third idea is gender bias,
which is the favoritism toward one gender or the other. All three have a direct
correlation with each other. Gender inequality is most common at school and in the
workforce. A lot of people seems to think men hold a higher rank in life than women
do just because they think women cannot do the same things a man can do. Just
because the the anatomy of a womanand a man are different, doesn t mean one or the
other should get better treatment, but that is still a reality women face today. Men

Rhetorical Devices In Beautiful Boy
Addicted Boy If cocaine were legal, what would the little packages be called?
Sweet N High! Unfortunately, this is an example of what is commonly known as a
crack joke. Drugs are increasingly being misused and abused. Yet, today s youth in
its ignorance takes drugs as a light matter. It is a different story altogether from
someone who has actually used drugs. In Beautiful Boy, journalist David Sheff
recounts his own and his son, Nic s journey of drug abuse. Sheff s memoir is a
haunting experience filled with tears, brawls, and ample amounts of crystal meth. In
Beautiful Boy, Sheff, while applying a casual and conversational style, effectively
uses rhetoric to share his experience with an addicted teen. Beautiful Boy had an...

The reason being was that Sheff s voice constantly changed. When he discussed
statistics, he became impersonal as if he was a reporter. When he reminisced on
Nic s childhood, the tone would drastically shift to chatty. His anecdotes about his
background, his thoughts, and his feelings all made him sound reflective. For
example, he said, I have held back my tears. But now I knew it was time to let
them go (290). With all these different voices, he was able to appeal to many
people. Beautiful Boy was a powerful story that used different aspects of rhetoric to
help establish connections with the audience. Sheff used pathos effectively to the
point that his audience cannot help, but constantly relate to his situation. Like
many parents, Sheff blamed himself for Nic s mistakes. He cannot help but
question his upbringing and decisions. He says, Did I spoil me? Was I too lenient? If
only his mother and I stayed together (145). He also says, If only I had never used
drugs (145). Not only does Sheff battle against his son, he also fought against
remorse. It is in parenthood where he sees repercussions for his previous actions. If
he had not experimented with drugs, he could at least be a decent example for Nic.
Beautiful Boy also used ethos as a way for the audience to get an insight on who
Sheff actually is. He is first, above all, a father. Sheff loves and cares for Nic. He said
he was enraptured by his child when he was born. I willingly forsake sleep
Courtly Love In The Knight s Tale
Throughout The Canterbury Tales Geoffrey Chaucer satirizes the chivalric code,
in particular courtly love, in order to ridicule the knights in the noble social estates
during his time. He utilizes the literary genre of a fable, which contains a moral
lesson personified through animals, in The Nun s Priest s Tale to mock society s
dignified views of courtly love. Chaucer illustrates the ridiculousness of courtly
love when he notes, This gentle cock was master in some measure / Of seven hens,
all there to do his pleasure. / They were his sisters and his paramours (Chaucer 215).
While courtly love is supposed to be the purest and most honorable form of love, the
rooster has a polygamous relationship with all of his hens, who all turn out to... Show

Courtly love was seen as a grandiose, formal process to partake in, and was
therefore pursued mostly by the virtuous knights that make up the second estate.
Thus, by satirizing a part of the chivalric code honored by a noble estate, Chaucer
is trying to undermine and humiliate the estates ideals and place in society.
Additionally, Chaucer utilizes The Knight s Tale in order to starize an aspect of
courtly love known as love at first sight. This tale involves two imprisoned knights
who fall in love with a lady after seeing her one time, and then spend the rest of
their lives pining and fighting for her. When one of the knights, Arcite, is released
from his prison he proclaims, What misery it cost [me] to depart! / [I] felt the
stroke of death upon [my] heart... Fettered in prison and without relief / I still had
been in bliss and not grief... Farewell my life, my joy, my happiness! (Chaucer 36).
Even though Arcite had only caught sight of the lady once, he would rather wish
farewell to his life or be imprisoned till his death than never see her again. While
loving a lady and finding a wife were important, Arcite s extreme reaction emphasizes
the ridiculousness of love at first sight and courtly

The aim of the document is deal with cyber threats and protect the information of
citizens. Despite the existence of governmental, private, and civil society initiatives to
counter the impact of such threats, an appropriate approach needed to be
implemented by Colombia.
At present, Colombia is one of a number of countries that do not have a national
cybersecurity and cyberdefense strategy that includes an organizational system and a
legal and institutional framework. Columbia has not yet implemented a national
CSIRT or CERT.
The increasing number of Internet users, as well as the strong dependence of
Colombia s critical infrastructure on electronic media and the considerable rise in the
number of cybersecurity incidents and crimes have highlighted the country s high
vulnerability to cyber threats, such as use of the Internet for terrorist purposes,
sabotage of public services, espionage, and theft, among others.
The CSIRT should be efficient, precise, and automated data analysis. In developing
CSIRT we need to consider How to prepare and store your data
How to give your operation authority and clarity with a solid logging policy
What metadata is and why you should care about it
How to develop and structure incident detection logic into your own playbook
Properly developing incident response methods and practices requires a solid plan

Rear Window And Ali Essay
Film has a unique way of showing the prominent ideas of our culture. It reinforces
and/or challenges the ideologies for certain events. In both Rear Window and Ali:
Fear Eats the Soul the women are viewed in different ways. Rear Window is a film
by Alfred Hitchcock that describes the life of Jefferies and how he solves the
mystery of Mrs. Thorwald. In Rear Window, there are two different views of the
women. There is Lisa Freemont a strong independent woman and Miss Torso whom
symbolizes desire. There is also a change in gender dynamics in the relationship of
Lisa Fremont and Jefferies. Ali: Eats the Soul by Fassbinder examines the love story
of Emmi and Ali. In the film, Ali: Fear Eats the Soul Emmi and Ali have switched

In the Alfred Hitchcock film Rear Window, gender role stereotypes are fulfilled in
most characters, such as Jefferies, Lisa Freemont, and Miss Torso. The film is shot
from of viewpoint of Jeffries apartment which allows the audience to connect to
Jefferies because the audience feels as if they are viewing the same events as
Jefferies this is important to understand the male gaze, which is prominent when
looking as Miss Torso. Miss Torso is viewed as the object of desire in Rear
Window, which is prevalent when the audience first sees Miss Torso. In the opening
scene, the audience sees Miss Torso getting ready for the day, dancing, and a
moment where her bra falls, and she must bend over to
Chihiro s Response To Sociology
Perhaps the most obvious example of change as a positive influence in the film
can be observed in Chihiro s maturation. Prior to entering the spirit realm, Chihiro
behaves as a typical, stubborn child unwilling to accept change; this can be
observed in the way she responds to seeing her new school as she and her parents
drive into town: sticking out her tongue as she says, It s gonna stink. I liked my
old school. During the same scene, Chihiro s responses to her parents even slightly
suggest that she is a bit spoiled as she complains how depressing it is that this is the
first time she has gotten a bouquet of flowers and it s a goodbye present. When her
mother reminds her that her father had gotten a rose for her birthday before, Chihiro

jobs are always there. While this is true, right now it seems like there it a shortage
of nurses. Is there a shortage of nurses? What caused the shortage? Does the shortage
have any effects on the nurses? As I have been thinking about pursuing a career in
nursing, these questions are something I have been wondering myself. Throughout
this paper, I intend to discover and address all the reasons behind the shortage, and
the effects on the nurses themselves. First thing I am going to discuss is if there is

Yes there is a shortage of nurses today. Some of the causes of the shortage are
nurses are being overworked, schools aren t accepted enough students into programs,
and the students they do accept aren t getting qualified enough for the stress for the

people want to overcome the shortage. Efforts are being made to overcome the

Airline Alliances
Airline Alliances an Analysis
Introduction:
Liberalisation of the Airline Market now allows carriers to engage in alliances to
form more powerful synergy s and capture a larger share of the market. Since the
introduction of The Airline Deregulation Act in 1978 in North America and similar
acts worldwide the aviation industry has become one of the fastest growing
industries. The main objective of this was to allow the market place to influence the
development of airlines. The main development from this was that airlines find it
more beneficial if they join alliances. In this report I will discuss why airlines engage
in alliances, identify the strategic benefits of alliances and assess their effectiveness.
Why airlines engage in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By pooling resources alliances can reduce unit costs and achieve greater cost
efficiencies through more efficient utilisation of resources such as sharing landing
slots, maintenance teams, IT systems and labour. Airlines also have the opportunity
of engaging in joint purchasing agreements and make considerable savings. When
we look at the Star Alliance which was founded in 1997 we see that they have made
considerable savings from joint purchasing agreements. Earlier this year The Star
Alliance leveraged its purchasing power with the procurement of new economy class
seats. As well as reducing the cost of seat ownership the airline will also benefit of
reduced future fuel costs due to the seats being made of lighter materials.
The demand side benefits of Strategic Alliances include accessing new markets
through availing of new landing slots. Landing slots are a big plus from strategic
alliances. Currently Virgin Airways are looking for landing slots at London s main
airports to fly to destinations in Asia including Bangalore. Through the potential
prospect of joining the Alliance Sir Richard Branson hopes to secure these slots.
Alliances enable airlines to offer a more seamless network of flights to customers due
to their collaborative efforts. Alliances also have the option to use code sharing which
enables consumers to book space on the same flights through multiple airlines
websites.

Pros And Cons Of The Executive Branch
...Power over any one thing, if not limited by some obvious and precise affinity,
may amount to a Power over every other. James madison. James Madison s ideas
about the American Constitution (considering he wrote the first draft) clearly
reflects his opinion about how one branch should not have more power than
another, and if one happens to be able to exploit a specific power, or given to much
power; it will have power over everything. This is crucial to the inner workings of
America s government because without Branches constantly checking each other,
America is just a good as a Monarchy.
The executive branch has the ability to check the other branches as well as it being
constantly checked on. The president, a major part of the executive branch, has the
power to pardon, or essentially forgive someone, for an offense. Around the time
when Richard M. Nixon was president (in office from 1969 1974) was indicted of
attempting to cover up a burglary in the Watergate Complex. He quickly resigned.
He was sentenced and President Gerald Ford pardoned former president Richard M.
Nixon. Gerald Ford regrets My mistakes . The Executive branch also has the ability
to appoint officials working under the legislative branch. A recent example of this
would be when Aaron, Henry Jacob was nominated into the SSAB (Social ... Show

judiciary system can also declare the legislature s actions unconstitutional. An

Second Bank of the United States. James W. McCulloch refused to pay the taxes and
took congress to court, the Supreme Court quickly rules the taxes
Innuendo Scene In Double Indemnity
Few movies get right what Double Indemnity does, which is an ode to the filmmaker
and crew behind the movie, the innuendo scene being one example of this. Snarky,
quick witted banter bouncing back and forth between each characters, keeps the film
s pacing going and rarely leaves the audience with a dull moment. Besides the strong
dialogue in the memorable innuendo scene in Double Indemnity, the scene also relies
on its distinct composition, lighting and camera angles to enhance foreshadowing
and character within the film.
Initially, Double Indemnity is a classic film noir. While watching the film one can
observe the numerous factors in how it portrays film noir, and how it is still one of
the more prominent examples of the genre to this day. Besides the obvious fact of the
film being black and white. It gets right what one would want from a film noir, the
dark atmospheric tone to the film, heavier, bleak themes, the crime story, the
cynicism, the pessimism, the deceit, the merciless betrayals, and the hat! Who can
forget the hat!
Furthermore, the innuendo scene was a response to the era s strict production
codes. Codes which called for violence, profanity, obscenity and many of the like to
avoid being superfluously depicted on screen. Sex and how it could be and should
be portrayed was also dictated by this code, which in turn lead to films to go through
loop holes or create their own way in which to maneuver around this rule, and Double
Indemnity did just that with their

Olympic Housing Issues
Along with the money that must be spent on these new facilities, there must also be
land for them to reside on. Because new land cannot be created, scarcity again
comes into effect. This is made apparent through the real estate market. Often times,
these Olympic construction projects take the space of what would be housing
developments or other building projects. This can cause rents to rise in the city and
its surrounding areas. These cities are also likely to experience the effects of
crowding out (The Economic Impact 19). Because there is an abundance of people
flooding the area and limited space in hotels for them to stay, hotel prices skyrocket.
This causes many of the people who would normally come visit the country without

In some cases, citizens of the host city are very opposed to certain aspects of
facilities that are built to house the Games. For example, in the Sydney Olympics,
the citizens held a very hostile attitude toward the construction of the Bondi Beach
Volleyball Stadium. They argued that the development of that facility would close
off a popular surfing beach for six months causing them an inconvenience. The
people of Sydney also thought that putting an arena on this stretch of beach might
cause environmental problems (Cashman 6). The recent Rio Olympics especially
stirred up some controversy. The developers of these games built a golf course in a
natural reserve, evicted hundreds of families to make way for infrastructure, and
even built their press center on a slave burial ground (Coston). These actions are all
violations of universal ethical and moral principles. As Catholics, we know that it
is our job to care for the environment. When the maker s of the Rio Games, Sydney
Game, and any other Games for that matter, build a facility that disrupts a natural
reserve or natural habitat of animals, it breaks that teaching. We also know that
each and every person is made in God s image and therefore deserves to be treated
with respect and dignity. The people that were evicted from their homes or dug up
from their graves to allow development were not given that dignity that they deserve.
Along with development, the initial bidding process also brings up ethics issues.
When a country enters into the bidding process to try to obtain the rights for hosting
the Games, local communities often end up being motivated and run by private

Nature s Supernatural Effect On Frankenstein And His
Monster
Nature s Supernatural Effect on Frankenstein and his monster Nature influences us
everyday, whether it is noticed by us or not. However, nature rarely has a
supernatural effect on us in comparison to Victor Frankenstein and his monster.
Nature controls the plot of Mary Shelley s book, Frankenstein. The events that
happen in the book are seasonally based making it easily predictable. Victor creates
the monster in the fall when everything is dying and coming to an end. Victor
awakens in the spring when the monster is gone and nature begins a new year of
life. Victor s biggest mistake is his ambition. By playing God and controlling
nature, trying to preventing death, Victor starts a series of misfortunes for himself
and the people he loves. Victor and the monster struggle to find their places in the
world and look toward nature for comfort and guidance. Nature cures Victor several
times from near death. When Victor creates the monster he realizes what he has
done and becomes extremely sick. Victor writes in his letter to Elizabeth, my health
and spirits had long been restored, and they gained strength from the salubrious air I
breathed (Shelley 72). Through the healing powers of spring, and some care from
Henry, Victor recovers. After the deaths of William and Justine and Victor s promise,
to create a companion for the monster, Victor becomes distraught. Instead of seeking
the comfort of his family he decides to leave with Henry to London and sight see
Shepherds Manor
What shepherds produced supported the manor with its economy. Animals had a
big part in the manor, and produced a lot of goods thanks to the shepherds. Pigs
were the most numerous of livestock and they could mainly support themselves by
foraging in the woods. Cows were kept to breed oxen for the plow team. Sheep and
goats were used for milk and cheese and sheep was also used for wool (Gies and J
Gies 22). Landowners had trading links with traders abroad, but peasants dealt
with travelling merchants. Large numbers of sheep were bred and taken care of to
produce a lot of wool and enough wool was made for families and abroad, and
families in little cottages turned it from rough wool to cloth (Johnson). A lot of
cheese was produced from female... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shepherd s produced many different goods for feudalism. Livestock grazed in tofts,
this livestock being cows, oxen, pigs, and chickens. Villagers owned sheep, but they
were not kept in tofts. In the summer and fall, they went to the marsh to graze and in
the winter, they went to pens in the manor fold so the lord could profit from the
manure (it was very valuable because it was used as fertilizer) (Gies and J Gies
35). Wool became a backbone to medieval economy, and even lords, abbots and
bishops started to count wealth in terms of sheep (Johnson). Wool became taxed
and this helped the King fund his military endeavors (Johnson). These goods
helped support the different ranks of feudalism. The goods shepherds provided
helped out the lord and the king especially. Wool was a very popular product that
was produced by shepherds, and was bought and sold constantly. The king got all
tax on this, so he got a lot of money. This helped him to fund the military, which
supported him for protection, but also the lords and peasants. The lords benefited
from the manure produced from the sheep shepherds raised. They got money from
this and could have used it for many reasons, personally or for the people of
feudalism. Feudalism and manorialism gave people ranks, economy, and military that
helped people live their lives in the dark times of medieval ages. The shepherds
Relationship Satisfaction Is An Important Part Of
Romantic...
Relationship satisfaction is an important part of romantic relationships. A lack of
satisfaction can lead to consequences in other areas of life and eventually, the
destruction of the relationship. For example, job performance is heavily
influenced by romantic relationship satisfaction. In a study by Greenhaus and
Beutell (1985), they argued that poor satisfaction leads to poor job performance
and vice versa. They stated this was to because these two spheres are
interdependent. Satisfaction can also influence quality of health. Conflict in a
marital relationship is associated with higher heart rates and blood pressure
(Broadwell Light, 1999; Ewart, Taylor, Kaemer Agras, 1991; Flor, Breitenstein,
Birbaumer Furst 1995; Frankish Linden, 1996; Kiecolt Glaser, 1993; Mayne, O
Leary, McCrady, Contrada Labouvie, 1997; Morell Apple, 1990; Shwartz, Slater
Birchler, 1994; Thomsen Gilbert, 1998). It is also strongly associated with
depression and depressed syndromes (Beach, Fincham Katz, 1998; Fincham Beach,
1999). This relationship between marital conflict and depression seems to be
bidirectional meaning depression is not only a result of conflict but also is caused by
the conflict (Beach, et. al., 1998; Fincham Beach, 1999). Because a lack of
relationship satisfaction can negatively affect so many important areas of life, it is
important to understand what influences the level of satisfaction held in romantic
relationships. One factor that has been shown to
Types of Market Structures
PERFECT COMPETITION
Short Run Equilibrium of the Firm Under Perfect Competition: Definition and
Explanation: By short run is meant a length of time which is not enough to change
the level of fixed inputs or the number of firms in the industry but long enough to
change the level of output by changing variable inputs. In short period, a distinction
is made of two types of costs (i) fixed cost and (ii) variable cost. The fixed cost in
the form of fixed factors i.e., plant, machinery, building, etc. does not vary with the
change in the output of the firm. If the firm is to increase or decrease its output, the
change only takes place in the quantity of variable resources such as labor, raw
material, etc. Further, in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The firm s best level of output is OK which is sold at unit cost OP. The total
revenue of the firm is equal to the area OPNK. The total cost of producing OK
quantity of output is equal to OTSK. The firm is suffering a net loss equal to the
shaded area PTSN. The firm at price OP in the market is covering its full variable
cost and a part of the fixed cost. The loss of part of fixed cost equal to the shaded
area PTSN is less than, the firm would incur by closing down. In case of shut
down, the firm has to bear the total fixed cost ETSF. The firm thus by producing
OK output and selling at OP price is minimizing losses. Summing up, in the short
run the firm will not go out of business for as long as the loss m staying the
business is less than the loss from closing down. (4) Short Run Shut Down: The
price taker firm in the short run minimizes losses by closing it down if the market
price is less than average variable cost. The shut down position of a Competitive firm
is explained with the help of a diagram.
In this figure (15.6) we assume that the market price is OP. The firm, is in
equilibrium at point Z where MR = MC. The firm produces OK output and sells at
OP unit cost. The total revenue of the firm is equal to the area OPZK. Whereas .the
total cost producing OK output is OTFR. The firm is suffering a net loss of total
fixed cost equal to the area PTFZ. The firm at point Z is just
Basketball Shoes Research Paper
There are plenty of trends that go on in our modern day era. One of the most
expensive ones would be the increasing price in basketball shoes. The increasing
price is due to many people being brand washed, meaning that the consumer buys
the product from a brand, just because of the name and the status of it. Also an
increase in labor costs in China all are factors that increase the price of basketball
shoes in China. Because of the increase in material cost, it increases the general
release cost for a sneaker. The effect of constantly increasing shoe prices on the
consumer market, is that brands will start releasing sneakers with storylines / special
editions, and will charge at least a two hundred dollar price tag for coveted sneakers.
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the price tags on these basketball shoes can be seen as ridiculous, these
companies are still making a huge sales off these shoes, largely because our society
brand washed most of these brands customers to pay that much for shoes. According
to www.statista.com, Nike s revenue worldwide is $30,601 Million, their net income
worldwide is $3,273 million and there number of retail stores worldwide is 931.
Also according to www.statista.com , Adidas net sales worldwide is 14,535
million Euros, their net profit was 524 million Euros and their number of stores
worldwide is 1,746. Even with these hefty prices, at which companies are selling
their products, they are still making huge profits globally and will continue to make
big profits, due purely to the name of their brand, despite the prices. The increases
in these companies prices, it has increased the price of other companies basketball
shoes such as, Under Armor and Peak. Also it has sunk cheaper shoe companies like
And 1 and Reebok.
Also to include more foreign basketball shoe companies, for example China s Li
Ning made 1.11 billion in revenue and a Net income of 318.8 million, also China s
Peak brand brought in over 530 million in revenue and can be seen on NBA
players feet all over the league. These prices are not only burning holes in people s
pockets but they are also sending the young crowds crazy, to the point where it is
leading to violence. Rising sneaker prices can be attributed to
The Theories Of Psychology And Psychology
Psychology is the study of the human mind, it is very complex and it is the source of
all thoughts and behaviors. Psychologists study the cognitive, emotional, and social
processes by observing, interpreting, and recording how individuals relate to one
another and their environments. They take human behavior as data for testing their
theories about how the mind works and use human behavior as a clue to the
workings of the mind. Everything a person does, think, feel and say is determined by
the functioning of the mind. There are three forces of psychology, which are
behaviorism, psychoanalysis, and humanism, and there are six schools of thoughts in
psychology and each has its unique and specific approach and represents the major
theories in psychology.
Functionalism is generally thought to be the first school of thought, psychological
functionalism attempts to describe thoughts and what they do without asking how
they do it. Gestalt psychology is another school of thought in psychology that is based
upon the idea that we experience things as unified wholes. This approach to
psychology was a response to the approach of structuralism. Instead of breaking down
thoughts and behavior to their smallest elements, gestalt psychologists believed that
the entire experiences must be looked into. According to the gestalt thinkers, the
whole is greater than the entirety of its parts. Behaviorism became the dominant
school of though in the 1950. Prominent thinkers include John Watson and
Role Of The United Nations Peacekeeping Force As It...
Abstract
The objective for this paper is to evaluate the role and impact of the United Nations
peacekeeping force as it interrupts with international incidents. A background on the
creation of the United Nations and the evolution of the UN s peacekeeping will be
provided. Two United Nations peacekeeping operations (Bosnia and East Timor) will
be explained in detail and provide improvements that can contribute to future
peacekeeping missions. The strengths and weaknesses of both peacekeeping
operations will be highlighted for justification about the improvements. This
investigation will come to a conclusion for the United Nations about the implications
required for future peacekeeping missions as it has floundered in previous missions.
The Beginning of the United Nations
Before the United Nations, an international organization who thrive to prevent future
disputes through negotiation, a similar international organization was created called
the League of Nations. The League of Nations was created in 1919 as a result of the
Paris Peace Conference after World War 1. The League of Nations thrived to the
establishment of a conference which nations throughout the world can resolve their
disagreements to prevent future conflicts. However, the League of Nations was
disbanded due to the dawn of World War 2 and their unsatisfying performance
maintaining peace. On October 24th 1945, the existence of the United Nations finally
came to the world. 5 permanent members were assigned: China,
False Killer Dolphins
According to Vancouver Aquarium, the false killer whale was first discovered as a
skeleton, not as a live dolphin. Because its skull looks similar to a killer whale s skull
scientists called it a false killer whale (Pseudorca).
Despite having whale in its name, the false killer whale is actually a large dolphin
like its namesake the killer whale . The difference between a whale and a dolphin is
much like the difference between a ship and a boat . It has more to do with size than
science. In fact, false killer whales are large dolphins. They prefer tropical to
temperate waters that are deeper than 3,300 feet (1000m) and occur in the U.S. in
Hawaii, along the entire West Coast, and from the Mid Atlantic coastal states south.
The species can also be found in all tropical and temperate oceans worldwide.[4] The
young false killer whale in Vancouver Aquarium Chester was rescued by the
Vancouver Aquarium Marine Rescue Team with help from local residents and
Fisheries and Ocean Canada (DFO) after standing as a month old calf on Chesterman
Beach in Tofino in July 2014.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They feed during the day and at night on fishes and cephalopods, and they are
known to attack smaller dolphins that are involved in the tuna purse seine fishery in
the Pacific Ocean.[4] This species is listed as Endangered under the Endangered
Species Act, in 2010, NMFS initiated a status review in response to a petition to list
the Main Hawaiian islands insular population of Hawaiian false killer whales as an
endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
AlВthough false killer whales are hunted by huВmans and there are anВnual mass
strandВings, popВuВlaВtions are conВsidВered staВble. There are only a few
counВtries that hunt them for food or reВmove them as threats to the fishВeries

National Theater Of The Deaf Research Paper
The National Theater of the Deaf began in 1967. Making it the oldest theater
company in the Untied States. In it`s early beginnings it was located in The
O`Neil Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut, but currently resides in West
Hartford, Connecticut. The first show to be preformed by the company was The
Man with his Heart in the Highlands, with only 7 people attending. But, even 49
years later the company is still going strong and wildly popular. The theater came
from the cast and crew of the Broadway show The Miracle Worker. The show is the
story of Helen Keller and her teacher Anne Sullivan. This showed the craft sign

pursued the dream of a deaf theater. By
Pros And Consequences Of Pokemon Go
According to Lee (2016), Pokemon go is a free to play mobile app that can be
downloaded for iOS and Android devices. The game works by using the phone s
GPS system for a real world location and augmented reality, which brings those
Pokemon s on the screen, overlaid on top of what the player sees in front of them.
Nowadays people are playing Pokemon Go everywhere, from malls, public restrooms
and even at private places. Many Pokemon Go playershas stated that it is because of
this game that gave them the motivation to get up and walk. They have also been
to places that they have never even known about before. Pokemon Go players has
the urge to play this game as Pokemon Go is a new revolution of how games are
being made. Although Pokemon Go has been bringing people from different walks
of life together, Pokemon Go has many more downfalls as numerous deaths and
injuries have been caused and players privacy has been invaded.... Show more content

Dunn (2016) stated that two teenagers, 18 and 17 years old from Guatemala were
gunned down while playing Pokemon Go. The pair were walking on a railroad
which may have led them to a dangerous neighbourhood, local reports said. Besides
that, Pokemon Go has another feature which is called lure modules. These are
modules that are put on PokeStops to attract more Pokemons. Players who have
made this game a part of their life, will surely go beyond borders to catch these
Pokemons. Dunn (2016) also wrote in his article that a teenage girl who was
hunting Pokemons in the Botanic Gardens in Brisbane fell out from a tree and broke
her arm. Numerous reports have shown that Pokemon Go is the cause of many
deaths in many countries and it is increasing day by day. Statistics on the 26th
October 2016, shown on pokemongodeathtracker.com has shown that there are 10
deaths and 49 injuries from the first day Pokemon Go was
Economic Causes Of Shay s Rebellion Essay
The economic problems that led to Shay s rebellion began with the signing of the
Treaty of Paris, which ended the revolutionary war and recognized America s
independence. America s independence came with some unforeseen complications,
since America was no longer a British colony they were cut out of many British
markets including the Caribbean. Also many American merchants were in debt to
British creditors and the creditors demanded cash payments with short deadlines and
harsh punishments. This in turn caused American merchants to demand their money
back from businesses who were in debt to them. These businesses then called for
farmers and smaller businesses to pay back their debts. In addition to having to pay
back their mounting debt farmers also had to pay taxes that were being raised by...

The men to whom the state owed money had great influence in legislator because
many of them were either a part of it or had relatives who were. This caused the
legislator to rule in favor of higher taxes to quickly pay back war debts with little
consideration for farmers who were already struggling to pay back personal debt.
Many farmers were forced to sell land, animals and machinery to pay back their
debts which made greatly reduced their profits. Many other farmers were taken to
court for debts they could not pay back and some were thrown in to debtors prisons.
Originally farmers tried to work through the legislator asking for them to lower taxes
and to print more paper money but the legislator met again and again each time
ignoring the farmer s requests. In 1782, Samuel Ely, a preacher gathered farmers
together in Western Massachusetts and targeted the court house he was arrested but
the spark was ignited. Steep inflation and a depression continued to make things
economically hard for farmers and more and more were facing court penalties for
being unable to pay debts. In 1786 a countywide convention was held to organize
their grievances against the Massachusetts

Nanofiber Research Paper
Frequency dependence of the electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness
(EMI SE) of carbon fiber
(CF) epoxy composite laminates have been investigated on the basis of attenuation
due to reflection and absorption measurements in the range of X band (8.2 12.4 GHz)
and Kuband
(12.4 18 GHz). The shielding by absorption is observed to be the dominant
mechanism. The use of nylon 66 nanofiber interleaving for increasing the shielding
effectiveness of multilayered quasi isotropic composite laminates has been
investigated. Further enhancement of EMI SE is achieved by Оі irradiation of the
composites. The results have highlighted the usefulness of the carbon fiber
composites for shielding in the range of microwave frequencies.

insulating and does not contribute to EM shielding on its own. However, polymer
composites with conductive fillers are influenced by the interconnectivity of the
conducting fillers within the polymer matrix. A conducting polymer has many
advantages like reduced weight, lower density, flexibility of control of conductivity
and lower manufacturing costs
[3], [4]. In recent years, polymer based carbon filled composites consisting of a
sandwich of a conductive polymer between a conductor and microwave absorber
have been used in wideband microwave shielding [5]. The most frequently used
EM absorbers consist of materials with high dielectric losses and magnetic loss

The video has a certain negative tone which portrays the wild side of the country, surrounded by filth, drugs, and teenage prostitution (Vice Guide to Liberia). There are a series of allegories included within the video to add more negative effect on the series of situations. • 5. Executive Branch Essay The comparison of a state with great plains and a state with mighty mountains seems unimaginable but very possible, at least on governmental standpoint. The great state of Illinois and one of the original state, North Carolina, have set up a state government very similar to the federal government and similar to each other. Their comparisons and contrasts are most noticeable in the legislative and executive branches. There are three main parts of an executive branch; The president, the vice president, and the cabinet. The president is the head of the U.S. executive branch, but in state executive branches the governor is the head honcho. Every State in America has a governor that is the chief executive of the state, responsible for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... legislative branch typically is a bicameral system. The only exception to this is the state of Nebraska which only has a senate and not a house of representatives. The legislative power of the state of Illinois is vested in the General Assembly, which is composed of a 59 member Senate and a 118 member House of Representatives. North Carolina s Senate has 50 members and their House of Representatives has 120 members. After those blaring differences Illinois and North Carolina s Legislature branches are quite similar. Their regular activities are enacting, amending or repealing laws, passing resolutions, adopting appropriation bills and conducting inquiries on proposed legislation. Both states legislation acts on amendments to the U.S. Constitution when they are submitted by Congress, and proposes and submits amendments to the Illinois Constitution for consideration by voter. During the scenario of an impeachment, both states House of Representatives has the sole power of impeachment, while the Senate serves as adjudicator. If a majority of the members of the House vote to impeach, the case proceeds to the Senate for trial. The Senate cannot impose any punishment on an impeached and convicted office holder other than removal from office. These two states show multiple similarities in the legislative branch and very few differences. As anyone can tell the two great states of Illinois and North Carolina have many similarities and differences in their legislative and executive branches of state government. Overall, one thing is sure these two states contribute the magnificents of the greatest nation on earth; The United States of
  • 6. Compare And Contrast Democratic Party And Republican Party The two major political parties in the United States of America are the Democratic party and the Republican party. Both have mostly differing views as Democrats tend to be liberal and Republicans tend to be conservative. Democrats, usually, believe in the inherent good of humankind while Republicans tend to believe human nature is not inherently so pure. The two parties also have different opinions on the role of the government; Republicans believe the government is there to protect the peoples rights and Democrats believe the government should have a strong role. Another important topic to cover is the American s rights versus responsibilities. Democrats tend to believe we are guaranteed more rights than given responsibilities and Republicans believe the opposite. With all this in mind, which party has a more ethical and correct platform? The democratic party s platform states cooperation is better than conflict, unity is better than division, empowerment is better than resentment, and bridges are better than walls. Democrats believe in removing barriers and creating opportunities. One way this can be accomplished is by ending systematic racism; this can be done by pushing for social reform, removing the Confederate flag from public property as it is a racist symbol and by closing the racial pay and wealth gap. Another reform the democrat will push for is the criminal justice system. Privatized prisons and detention centers need to be ended as well as change for
  • 7. Love, Lust, and Tragedy in William Shakespeare s Romeo and... Love is the forceful attraction between two people blossomed from desire and intimacy. Lust is physical manifestation of what many would call love, but in reality this feeling can bend the will of any man and woman alike. Lust is power, it is passion, and it can motivate. One thing love and lust has in common: they have the ability to kill. Thus tragedy strikes a wary, yet inevitable, sentiment every person experiences at least once in their lifetime. Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet Everybody knows Romeo and Juliet are supposedly in love; many think otherwise. For example, this love story is a romance, a love on a path with death. OBINEGBO BLACKBOARD ID: oluchukwu1.obinegbo STUDENT ID #: 3002661138 COURSE NUMBER: EEL 4930 LECTURER IN CHARGE: DR JIM P. ZHENG EXECUTIVE SUMMARY After the discovery of electricity, effective and efficient methods have been sought to store energy for use on demand. Over the last century, industries which work towards the effective storage of energy have been evolving and adapting to change in energy requirements and advances in technology. Energy storage systems help in providing various technological approaches to the effective and efficient management of electricity in order to create a more resilient energy infrastructure and maximize cost savings to consumers. Biofuel is a form of fuel produced under biological carbon fixation (such as anaerobic digestion and agriculture). Biofuels are in various forms and are used widely in achieving energy storage needs. Biofuels are a known source of renewable energy because of its great environmental advantages, which includes reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The form of biofuels is categorized into three generations, with each generation containing various fuels. • 11. Examples Of Femininity In The Little Mermaid The Little Mermaid: Hegemonic Femininity The transition from a girl to a woman is created by the socially implemented ideals of femininity depicted in commercials, books, and mainly films. One of the famous animated princess Disney films, The Little Mermaid can be easily added to yet another Disney film portraying hegemonic femininity. In the 1989 film The Little Mermaid(Ron Clements, John Musker), a beautiful, young mermaid is willing to make a risky deal with an evil sea witch because she yearns to walk on land and fall in love with a prince, while secretly the sea witch wishes for the mermaid to lose the deal. Throughout the fantasy/ melodrama film, the main protagonist Ariel reinscribes the hegemonic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wandering free, wish I could be part of your world, is what Ariel sings as she daydreams of prince Eric. She strongly believes she needs him to be happy and that without him she is incapable of doing so. That is why Ariel takes Ursula s deal, changes her body and sacrifices her voice while leaving her family behind. This validates the hegemonic code of femininity because women are seen as individuals who cannot take care of themselves and are only complete with a man. After the climax, when the deal has been made with Ursula, Ariel finds herself in a difficult situation. With only having three days to get a kiss of true love from prince Eric, she undoubtedly needs Eric s kiss to save her. Getting close to the end of the film, there is a scene where Ariel and Eric are taking a boat ride. All the sea creatures try to set the mood so Eric can kiss Ariel. Without that kiss Ariel will lose her voice forever and her true love. This scene proves once again how women are incomplete without men, that they need a hero and prince charming to save
  • 12. Reflection On Classwork My lesson began as class usually does, with students completing the Do Now up on the board: having notebooks and pencils ready, picking up the warm up sheet from the back, and writing the homework in their planner. Since there was no homework from the previous day, we were able to go right into the warm up. I walked around the classroom to make sure students had the warm up and were beginning to work. Students were unusually quiet, probably due to the camera and Keith s presence, so I reminded them that they were allowed to discuss the warm up. I stopped to help one student get started finding the missing side lengths of two similar triangles and helped another remember how to divide fractions for the last question. After the students had about 5 minutes to work on the warm up, I displayed a blank warm up using the document camera and asked for students to share their answers. I asked an additional question about what the scale factor was for the triangles and modeled using the scale factor to find the missing side lengths. pointed out to students that all the fraction questions related to a pair of corresponding side lengths in the triangles from the first question, recalling that we could use fractions to represent or find corresponding sides in similar shapes. Next, I introduced that we will be exploring proportional relationships on a graph and that we would be trying a new style of group work. I explained the structure to the students, that they would be in groups of

  • 14. Analysis Of The Little Prince The novel The Little Prince was originally published in 1943. Antoine De Saint was a pioneering aviator, a prominent aristocrat, poet and writer, and thus the novel; The Little Prince was inspired by his real life experiences (SiМЃs). He only added a few fictionalized imageries to enhance the merit and understandability of the book to his audience (Cengage Learning Gale). The book has demonstrated massive success as it has sold over 140 million copies worldwide translated into more than 300 languages and dialects, and thus becoming the best selling book ever published (Howard and Mortensen). More significantly, this novel is one of the most key books because of its thoughtful and introspective nature, and hence bringing hope to humanbeings. The little princeis one of the children s must read handbooks with philosophy for grown ups. This is as a result of the book s significant poetic and optimistic reflections primarily on the existence of human beings (Cengage Learning Gale). The novel demonstrates the author s practical artistic skills through his lyrical, charming and well illustrations made throughout the book, sweeping the audience into a whirl hood of childhood fancy (Saint ExupeМЃry). The Little Prince is a simple book with a combination of satire, philosophy, science, imagination and childish vivacity that can command the attention of grown ups and children s hearts and minds. Through his book, Antoine De Saint Exupery communicates important values that grown ups overlooks more often in everyday life. The Little Prince is written as a children s novel. However, it be can analyze at various diverse levels. Therefore, it s important to note that a child or an adult is not defined by the age, but rather by the state of mind (Weber and Probert). Although The Little Prince is designed as a childhood novel, it makes several explanations and clarifications regarding human life and nature, and hence it s optimistic. For instance, The Little Prince is depicted as one of the two protagonists of the story. Hence, after leaving his home planet and his rose which he adored so much, he traveled around the world, ending up on Earth. He was puzzled by the behavior of grown ups (Howard and Mortensen). The

  • 16. The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde The play, The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde was written in the Victorian Age of England. During this time morality was connected with sexual restraint and strict codes of conduct in public. This play hilariously critiques Victorian moral and social values while the characters in the play try to figure out the meaning of earnestness . Wilde uses humor and irony to publicly ridicule the self aggrandizing attitude of the Victorian upper classes, as well as to expose their duplicity and hypocrisy in regards to their social behaviors. The characters in the play are the primary source of the humor and irony. In Otto Reinert s Satiric Strategy in the Importance of Being Earnest he points out that, Wilde s basic formula for satire is their (the characters) assumption of a code of behavior that represents the reality that Victorian convention pretends to ignore (Reinert 15). The main character, Jack Worthing, is a prime example of this. To function in society he creates an alter ego named Ernest. This way, he can be Ernest in town and Jack in the country (Wilde 1737). Jack represents his conventional Victorian side he has responsibility as a guardian in the country, where it is his duty to adopt a very high moral tone on all subjects (Wilde 1738). Ernest, however, enables Jack to throw away his real life troubles and act carelessly, something he could never do as Jack. The dual nature of his character satirizes the hypocrisy in conventional Victorian

Reflective Essay About Life Do you ever hear a story and think to yourself, Wow I can t imagine what that family / person is going through, and then suddenly you find yourself stuck, trapped, broken, in a tragedy you never thought would happen to YOU. Well, if you said yes, me too. Life is a strange thing, so unexpected, so random in some ways, but also so put together. Everything that happens here on Earth happens for a reason. Every person we encounter, every smile we give, every laugh we release, every second of this life is relevant. YOU are relevant. Everything we do, everything we see, everything we touch, has an impact on this world, and on us too. One minute life will be so good, that in my opinion, it s scary. When life is good, I often question when something else will happen that will throw me off my path. On this specific day, April 13th 2013, I thoughtlife was good, better than it had been in a while. • 20. Helping Veterans With Mental Disorders One major concern that our society currently has is how to help veterans with mental disorders. According to research, about 30,000 people killed themselves and nearly 650,000 other people were seen in the emergency room after a suicide attempt after serving in the Vietnam war (Wineke, 2007). During this time the government had concerns about readjustment difficulties for veterans as they were returning home from war. Eventually, the nation expressed their concern about the mental health of returning veterans, and in 1970, the congress conducted the first hearing to address these issues (Rosenheck and Fontana, 1999). Service members reported having several psychological problems, including anxiety, depression, nightmares, and insomnia following a return from a combat zone. The Vietnam era was the turning point in assessment and treatment of combat related psychological distress (Tanielian, 2008). Post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, was officially defined as a mental disorder in 1979, in recognition of the potentially disabling mental health challenges confronting veterans returning from the war: The most lasting contribution of Vietnam to the history of battle trauma is the legacy of post traumatic stress disorder (Helmus and Glenn, 2005). The National Vietnam Veterans Readjustment Study (NVVRS) estimated that, in 1998, 15 percent (472,000) of those who had served in Vietnam met the criteria for active PTSD (Rosenheck and Fontana, 1999). • 21. Theme Of Sexuality In Songs Of Innocence And Of Experience... As a forerunner to the free love movement, late eighteenth century poet, engraver, and artist, William Blake (1757 1827), has clear sexual overtones in many of his poems, and he layers his work with sexual double entendres and symbolism. Within the discussion of sexuality in his work Songs of Innocence and of Experience, Blake seems to take a complicated view of women. His speakers use constructs of contraries, specifically innocence/ experience and male/female. Of the latter sex, he experiments with the passive (dependent, docile, virtuous) and active (independent, evil, a threat to the masculine) female subjects. Blake s use of personification specifically of nature and botany suggest the use of nature to discuss human society. In Songs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sun flower, and The Lilly. Wolfson argues that these three poems tell a tale in three chapters, (266) however each poem stands beautifully on its own only loosely an affiliated trilogy of different aspects of love. From plate 43, these short lyrics involve the personification of flowers. Often characterized for their delicateness and beauty, symbolizing love, and female sexuality, Blake uses botany to again establish a sense of sexual relationship within the poem. My Pretty Rose Tree is constructed in two heroic quatrains written with an ABAB ACAC rhyme scheme. The speaker describes their temptation in being offered another flower (opportunity or other woman) as well as their protestation that he has his own pretty rose tree (Blake, Rose Tree 3) and does not need another. The outcome of his fidelity personifies the already feminized and objectified rose tree as jealous and dependent on the speaker for tend[ing] (6). In the trees jealousy, she only provides her barren thorns (8) for the speaker s efforts in which he states is his only delight (8). Suggesting that the only delight a woman is capable of is the physical appearance. The thorns take on the Biblical symbolism of the crown of thorns in which Jesus wears up to his crucifixion to cause him pain and to mock his claim for authority. Similarly, the rose tree mocks the speaker s possessive authority over her (as he

by Daniel Patrick Moynihan The major idea that the author discussed in this article was how current social policy is aimed at decreasing the use of illegal substances? The question progresses whether research efforts must stick to this policy in order to be considered ethical. If research is to be judged in fair terms, what effect does this have on the selection of research projects to be funded, how the research is done? and how the findings are treated by the public, as represented by both professionals and the media? All these questions need to be taken into considerations while looking at this current social policy. The author presented to us that we have to understand what is causing this ... That is to say, the bad results that accompany the good ones good results which led to the adoption of the technology in the first place. To date, there are five large and important areas of research that have been either neglected: (1) the sequence of drugs used and the development of different drug using patterns; (2) the individual, group, and cultural factors influencing low risk and high risk outcomes among equivalent drug users; (3) the changing attitudes of both users and nonusers toward psychoactive drug use; (4) the impact of the media on drug use and drug choice; and (5) the process of socialization as it applies to patterns of drug use (http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/zinberg7.htm). I feel that we should also focus on studies: how drugs influence individual health and behavior, what use is being made of drug research, and how its findings influence public policy decisions. There are at least 15 distinct Candida species that cause human disease, but 90% of invasive disease is caused by the 5 most common pathogens, C. albicans, C. glabrata, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, and C. krusei with candida albicans being the most prevalent.(Ostrosky Zeichner et al., 2015) Candida yeasts normally reside in the intestinal tract and can be found on mucous membranes and skin without causing infection; however, overgrowth of these organisms can cause symptoms to develop. Symptoms of candidiasis vary depending on the area of the body that is infected.(CDC, 2016e) The different types of Candidiasis are determined by the area of the body they affect. Oropharyngeal candidiasis, otherwise known as Thrush, inhabits the buccal cavity or throat. Candidiasis of the vagina is commonly referred to as a yeast infection. The most clinically significant version of candidiasis is invasive candidiasis, which happens as a result of a candida species entering the bloodstream and spreading throughout the body. Invasive candidiasis is primarily found in immunocompromised patients such as those suffering from HIV, undergoing corticosteroid therapy, chemotherapy, or those with diabetes. Candidiasis: Signs and Symptoms and Sequelae Thrush is relatively easy to recognise as white patches can be observed on the tongue and other oral mucous membranes. Symptoms

The Importance Of Operant Conditioning Operant Conditioning Within the early 19th Century, Edward Throne like conducted experiments on dogs and cats to determine the way these animals behave under certain conditions. These studies were conducted through replicating and standardizing the circumstances that the animals were in through a controlled environment. As such, this model demonstrated that animals had the nature to learn when they were presented with certain consequences. In 1938, Burrhus Friederich (B. F.) developed the core idea of the Operant ConditioningSkinner, which claims that operant conditioning, was brought about by the response from the operant under threat (Sakagami, Lattal, 2016). Some factors were involved in the increase of the operant conditioning especially when Edward Thorndike was examining the behavior of cats and rats. It was necessary to consider the problem solving abilities of these animals within puzzle boxes that would otherwise lead the animals in a state of constraint. Moreover, there was a need to understand the relationship exhibited between the appropriate reaction to the individual situation and the associated strengths to the same. Moreover, other factors such as the ability of the animals to learn under the conditions presented as was later proven by Skinner. The core principles that are important in understanding the operant conditioning and how it may result in the retention offer includes the operant variability where the individual may experience emitted behavioral

Whether it is in school, or the workforce, gender inequality still exists and is a major problem. There is still a huge difference in the way women get treated compared to the way men get treated. Due to the invisible barrier that is holding back the success of women, social realities need to be redefined in order for gender inequality to longer exist. Gender inequality refers to the unequal rights, responsibilities and opportunities of women and men and girls and boys. There are three main ideas that contribute to it, but there are still many others that do too. One of them is sexism, which refers to the range of attitudes, beliefs, policies, laws, and behaviors that discriminate on the basis of gender. A second idea that also contributes is gender roles. Gender roles are rights, responsibilities, expectations, and relationships of men and women in a society. The third idea is gender bias, which is the favoritism toward one gender or the other. All three have a direct correlation with each other. Gender inequality is most common at school and in the workforce. A lot of people seems to think men hold a higher rank in life than women do just because they think women cannot do the same things a man can do. Just because the the anatomy of a womanand a man are different, doesn t mean one or the other should get better treatment, but that is still a reality women face today. Men have access to many more

As well as reducing the cost of seat ownership the airline will also benefit of reduced future fuel costs due to the seats being made of lighter materials. The demand side benefits of Strategic Alliances include accessing new markets through availing of new landing slots. Landing slots are a big plus from strategic alliances. Currently Virgin Airways are looking for landing slots at London s main airports to fly to destinations in Asia including Bangalore. Through the potential prospect of joining the Alliance Sir Richard Branson hopes to secure these slots. Alliances enable airlines to offer a more seamless network of flights to customers due to their collaborative efforts. Alliances also have the option to use code sharing which enables consumers to book space on the same flights through multiple airlines websites. Effectiveness of alliances: The
  • 39. Pros And Cons Of The Executive Branch ...Power over any one thing, if not limited by some obvious and precise affinity, may amount to a Power over every other. James madison. James Madison s ideas about the American Constitution (considering he wrote the first draft) clearly reflects his opinion about how one branch should not have more power than another, and if one happens to be able to exploit a specific power, or given to much power; it will have power over everything. This is crucial to the inner workings of America s government because without Branches constantly checking each other, America is just a good as a Monarchy. The executive branch has the ability to check the other branches as well as it being constantly checked on. The president, a major part of the executive branch, has the power to pardon, or essentially forgive someone, for an offense. Around the time when Richard M. Nixon was president (in office from 1969 1974) was indicted of attempting to cover up a burglary in the Watergate Complex. He quickly resigned. • 40. Innuendo Scene In Double Indemnity Few movies get right what Double Indemnity does, which is an ode to the filmmaker and crew behind the movie, the innuendo scene being one example of this. Snarky, quick witted banter bouncing back and forth between each characters, keeps the film s pacing going and rarely leaves the audience with a dull moment. Besides the strong dialogue in the memorable innuendo scene in Double Indemnity, the scene also relies on its distinct composition, lighting and camera angles to enhance foreshadowing and character within the film. Initially, Double Indemnity is a classic film noir. While watching the film one can observe the numerous factors in how it portrays film noir, and how it is still one of the more prominent examples of the genre to this day. Besides the obvious fact of the film being black and white. It gets right what one would want from a film noir, the dark atmospheric tone to the film, heavier, bleak themes, the crime story, the cynicism, the pessimism, the deceit, the merciless betrayals, and the hat! Who can forget the hat! Furthermore, the innuendo scene was a response to the era s strict production codes. Codes which called for violence, profanity, obscenity and many of the like to avoid being superfluously depicted on screen. Sex and how it could be and should be portrayed was also dictated by this code, which in turn lead to films to go through loop holes or create their own way in which to maneuver around this rule, and Double Indemnity did just that with their

The story was timed well and shortened from the original biography of Corrie Ten Boom, The Hiding Place. This story is mostly about how a Christian with so much faith can change the world. In the book many times Corrie shows compassion and forgiveness. This book takes place in the Netherlands. I like history and this was a great story given during WWII, during the Nazi reign. The story starts off slow not much going on, except Corrie is sick. Her parents think that she has tuberculosis, which was incurable back then. • 42. Olympic Housing Issues Along with the money that must be spent on these new facilities, there must also be land for them to reside on. Because new land cannot be created, scarcity again comes into effect. This is made apparent through the real estate market. Often times, these Olympic construction projects take the space of what would be housing developments or other building projects. This can cause rents to rise in the city and its surrounding areas. These cities are also likely to experience the effects of crowding out (The Economic Impact 19). Because there is an abundance of people flooding the area and limited space in hotels for them to stay, hotel prices skyrocket. This causes many of the people who would normally come visit the country without the games... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some cases, citizens of the host city are very opposed to certain aspects of facilities that are built to house the Games. For example, in the Sydney Olympics, the citizens held a very hostile attitude toward the construction of the Bondi Beach Volleyball Stadium. They argued that the development of that facility would close off a popular surfing beach for six months causing them an inconvenience. The people of Sydney also thought that putting an arena on this stretch of beach might cause environmental problems (Cashman 6). The recent Rio Olympics especially stirred up some controversy. The developers of these games built a golf course in a natural reserve, evicted hundreds of families to make way for infrastructure, and even built their press center on a slave burial ground (Coston). These actions are all violations of universal ethical and moral principles. As Catholics, we know that it is our job to care for the environment. When the maker s of the Rio Games, Sydney Game, and any other Games for that matter, build a facility that disrupts a natural reserve or natural habitat of animals, it breaks that teaching. We also know that each and every person is made in God s image and therefore deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. The people that were evicted from their homes or dug up from their graves to allow development were not given that dignity that they deserve. Along with development, the initial bidding process also brings up ethics issues. When a country enters into the bidding process to try to obtain the rights for hosting the Games, local communities often end up being motivated and run by private business interests. This leads to the interests of the citizens of the city not being properly represented. It also leads to the city spending billions of dollars just to have a chance to host the Games, which they may

However, nature rarely has a supernatural effect on us in comparison to Victor Frankenstein and his monster. Nature controls the plot of Mary Shelley s book, Frankenstein. The events that happen in the book are seasonally based making it easily predictable. Victor creates the monster in the fall when everything is dying and coming to an end. Victor awakens in the spring when the monster is gone and nature begins a new year of life. Victor s biggest mistake is his ambition. By playing God and controlling nature, trying to preventing death, Victor starts a series of misfortunes for himself and the people he loves. Victor and the monster struggle to find their places in the world and look toward nature for comfort and guidance. Nature cures Victor several times from near death. When Victor creates the monster he realizes what he has done and becomes extremely sick. Victor writes in his letter to Elizabeth, my health and spirits had long been restored, and they gained strength from the salubrious air I breathed (Shelley 72). Pigs were the most numerous of livestock and they could mainly support themselves by foraging in the woods. Cows were kept to breed oxen for the plow team. Sheep and goats were used for milk and cheese and sheep was also used for wool (Gies and J Gies 22). Landowners had trading links with traders abroad, but peasants dealt with travelling merchants. Livestock grazed in tofts, this livestock being cows, oxen, pigs, and chickens. Villagers owned sheep, but they were not kept in tofts. In the summer and fall, they went to the marsh to graze and in the winter, they went to pens in the manor fold so the lord could profit from the manure (it was very valuable because it was used as fertilizer) (Gies and J Gies 35). Wool became a backbone to medieval economy, and even lords, abbots and bishops started to count wealth in terms of sheep (Johnson). Wool became taxed and this helped the King fund his military endeavors (Johnson). These goods helped support the different ranks of feudalism. The goods shepherds provided helped out the lord and the king especially. Wool was a very popular product that was produced by shepherds, and was bought and sold constantly. The king got all tax on this, so he got a lot of money. This helped him to fund the military, which supported him for protection, but also the lords and peasants. The lords benefited from the manure produced from the sheep shepherds raised. They got money from this and could have used it for many reasons, personally or for the people of feudalism. Feudalism and manorialism gave people ranks, economy, and military that helped people live their lives in the dark times of medieval ages. The shepherds

A lack of satisfaction can lead to consequences in other areas of life and eventually, the destruction of the relationship. For example, job performance is heavily influenced by romantic relationship satisfaction. In a study by Greenhaus and Beutell (1985), they argued that poor satisfaction leads to poor job performance and vice versa. They stated this was to because these two spheres are interdependent. Satisfaction can also influence quality of health. Conflict in a marital relationship is associated with higher heart rates and blood pressure (Broadwell Light, 1999; Ewart, Taylor, Kaemer Agras, 1991; Flor, Breitenstein, Birbaumer Furst 1995; Frankish Linden, 1996; Kiecolt Glaser, 1993; Mayne, O Leary, McCrady, Contrada Labouvie, 1997; Morell Apple, 1990; Shwartz, Slater Birchler, 1994; Thomsen Gilbert, 1998). It is also strongly associated with depression and depressed syndromes (Beach, Fincham Katz, 1998; Fincham Beach, 1999). This relationship between marital conflict and depression seems to be bidirectional meaning depression is not only a result of conflict but also is caused by the conflict (Beach, et. al., 1998; Fincham Beach, 1999). Because a lack of relationship satisfaction can negatively affect so many important areas of life, it is important to understand what influences the level of satisfaction held in romantic relationships. Types of Market Structures PERFECT COMPETITION Short Run Equilibrium of the Firm Under Perfect Competition: Definition and Explanation: By short run is meant a length of time which is not enough to change the level of fixed inputs or the number of firms in the industry but long enough to change the level of output by changing variable inputs. In short period, a distinction is made of two types of costs (i) fixed cost and (ii) variable cost. The fixed cost in the form of fixed factors i.e., plant, machinery, building, etc. does not vary with the change in the output of the firm. If the firm is to increase or decrease its output, the change only takes place in the quantity of variable resources such as labor, raw material, etc. Further, in the ... The firm at price OP in the market is covering its full variable cost and a part of the fixed cost. The loss of part of fixed cost equal to the shaded area PTSN is less than, the firm would incur by closing down. In case of shut down, the firm has to bear the total fixed cost ETSF. Psychologists study the cognitive, emotional, and social processes by observing, interpreting, and recording how individuals relate to one another and their environments. They take human behavior as data for testing their theories about how the mind works and use human behavior as a clue to the workings of the mind. Everything a person does, think, feel and say is determined by the functioning of the mind. There are three forces of psychology, which are behaviorism, psychoanalysis, and humanism, and there are six schools of thoughts in psychology and each has its unique and specific approach and represents the major theories in psychology. Functionalism is generally thought to be the first school of thought, psychological functionalism attempts to describe thoughts and what they do without asking how they do it. Gestalt psychology is another school of thought in psychology that is based upon the idea that we experience things as unified wholes. This approach to psychology was a response to the approach of structuralism. Instead of breaking down thoughts and behavior to their smallest elements, gestalt psychologists believed that the entire experiences must be looked into. According to the gestalt thinkers, the whole is greater than the entirety of its parts. Behaviorism became the dominant school of though in the 1950. Prominent thinkers include John Watson and
