for our play. This play is about a girl named Marilyn who was ejected from the
Stardust aircraft. Our group selected this play so we could create an exciting,
interesting, and a suspenseful alternative ending. We titled our alternative ending
The Slightly Warmer Equation because of the happy and light storyline that our
play has in comparison to the dark and dreadful storyline of The Cold Equations.
The reason we did this was so we could convey to our audience that Marilyn was
getting closer to solving her own life equation and living happily ever after. The
main conflict in the play is that Marilyn has floated onto the Octagon spacecraft
belonging to aliens. She is then discovered by an alien named Malron, her life is
put in jeopardy, and to her surprise she begins to have romantic feelings for him. By
the end of the play Marilyn accepts her feelings for Malron and they live happily
ever after. Our play uses the conventional elements of drama by having a clear setting,

that their nation s people have. The song Leningrad is of interest to me because I
am a musician myself and I play the piano as does Billy Joel. Music has always

Macbeth Fate Vs Free Will Essay
In Macbeth there is a question as to whether or not Macbeth is driven by fate or
free will. The three weird sisters approach Macbeth with prophecies that come true in
the end. It would appear that Macbeth is just following his destiny at first, since it
seems that fate is playing its part. However this changes as Macbethchanges, and it
shows us that he always had the ability to choose his own fate.
In Act I, the three witches visit Macbeth and Banquo. The weird sisters make three
predictions; Macbeth will become the Thane of Cawdor, he will become King, and
Banquo s sons will become king. Even though the witches did make these
prophecies, Macbeth s fate was not yet sealed. Later in the same scene, Ross and
Angus meet Macbeth. They tell Macbeth that he is now the Thane of Cawdor.
Macbeth then reflects on the predictions and says, Present fears are less than horrible

Initially the life of Macbeth was predominantly governed by fate, this was shown
in Act 1 Scene 3 when Macbeth became the Thane of Cawdor. The wicked sisters
foretold that Macbeth would become the Thane of Cawdor, and then it happened
soon after they said it would. Later in scene 2 Macbeth starts to take control over
his life. Macbeth starts to make decisions based on his own freewill and desires.
Macbeth killed the king with the desire to do so, he was not fated to kill the king,
he just perceived the message of the three witches in that way. The reason that I
decided to base my presentation on the idea of fate versus freewill is because of Act

According to Carol A. Heintzelman (2003, Vol. 10, No. 4), the Tuskegee study of
untreated syphilis in the African Americanmale was the longest nontherapeutic
experiment on human beings in medical history. The study began in 1932 in Macon
County, Alabama, where the government used 600 men in a forty year experiment.
The purpose of the Tuskegee study was to record the history of syphilis in blacks, but
to ultimately determine if syphilis had the same effect on African Americans as

The experiment of this study was to take African American males, inject them with
syphilis, and watch their reaction to the disease. A total of 600 men were in this
experiment. 399 of the men had syphilis and were a part of the experimental group
and 201 men were in the control group. The experiment took many ethical turns
from what it was originally supposed to be. Though the men were not being treated
because there was no cure for syphilis in 1932, they could have been in 1945. In

Walker Percy s essay The Loss of the Creature through relatable hypotheticals
points out a problem in many people s lives. He enlightens readers that people have
lost their ability to evaluate something s worth by themselves, what Percy refers to
as their sovereignty. Percy delivers his message through his essay without most of
the technical jargon one would expect. In doing so the problem he points out
seems less of a concept far from our understanding but one that the regular person
can solve. To begin his inquiry of life and sovereignty Percy argues why a person

I wasn t really a smart kid ether, but I did know a lot about mental health, mostly
because I had no choice, mother and father were going to send me to therapy. My
mother was worried and my father, his exact words were i m done dealing with
