ABSTRACT: The aim of this work is to develop an embedded system directed at
automating appliances in an industry via Ethernet. Previously Anish NK , Kowshick
B , S.Moorthi presented paper on Ethernet based Industry Automation using FPGA in
year 2013 whereas GopinathS, BhanuprasadP, Harish, SindhuraG, Gautam R.P,
Shivas.v.c,Sindhu.B,James.C presented paper on Bluetooth Communication using
touch screen interface with Raspberry Pi . Considering their results we have designed
a system which employs server/client architecture; switching commands for the
appliances which are connected to the client can be received and displayed at either
end. The data containing information about the control commands are transferred
between the end points of communication using Transmission Control Protocol
(TCP). The remote host processes the commands received and translates them into
actions of switching particular appliances ON or OFF. This type of control system
gives the liberty for control of appliances from remote locations connected through
Ethernet. A novel embedded system has been designed, implemented on Raspberry
Pi and a small scale prototype is developed and tested.

is neither a step by step textbook of factual information about how history should be
written nor a series of directly given guidelines that historians should follow. Instead

from their previous form as lectures, contributions to conferences or articles and
reviews in different journals. As Hobsbawm himself explains, his reflections on

Unfortunately, many student struggle to keep up with our education system and

network of neighborhood associations that not only work to continuously beautify the
area but collect dues to ensure that it is done so.4
Perhaps the most definitive example of New Urbanism has been DPZ s project,
Kentlands, a 352 acre community in Gaithersburg, Maryland begun in 1990. An
oasis of good planning in a sea of suburbia, it is not only a model of Traditional
Neighborhood Design (TND) but also the predecessor to many other such
neighborhoods developed within CSD areas. In Kentlands, much like Seaside, the
Citizens Assembly runs a recreation center and provides for common maintenance of
public areas. Civic buildings and shopping in mixed use buildings are within walking
distance of the development s six architecturally distinct neighborhoods. This compact
design reduces auto traffic significantly, allows children to go about their daily
business without requiring a mother chauffeur and puts workplaces near their
employees.5

Kentlands has idiosyncrasy and imperfections intentionally. Authentic variety is
achieved by allowing odd, leftover lots to remain, forcing the design of a building

The Death Of The Doctor
As I stood there watching my mother cry, I couldn t seem to fathom how death
could cause someone who was here yesterday to disappear today. My mother and I
witnessed my thirty three year old aunt whither away from ovarian cancer. A death
that was avoidable had she had better access to healthcare for early diagnosis. My
aunt s cancer never received treatment and progressed until there was nothing left in
her pelvic cavity. It ignited a spark; a spark to search for answers. A spark that grew
brighter as I grew up and which inspires me to treating cancer and other similarly
vicious diseases.
I grew up on a small island where the doctor was seen as someone who would kill
you from malpractice or carelessness. In reality people would not go to the doctor
until they were extremely sick and usually there was nothing the doctor could do.
There was great fear surrounding the doctor and it contributed to many family
members suffering needlessly. But after my aunt died, I wanted to believe
something different. I refused to accept that nothing could be done. When my
father got a job opportunity in America, my mother and I decided to push the idea
of moving to escape because of the abuse we had endured from him. We knew in
America we would have resources to escape, which we didn t have in the Caribbean.
I then decided if I moved to the United States I would become a physician.

Why I Am A Nurse
I will always remember one piece of advice a teacher taught me during my senior
year of high school. She said: If you love what you do, you will never work a day in
your life! I have been incredibly fortunate to say I have not worked since I became
a nurse. Become a nurse is much more than simply a calling. Nursing is a way of
life; the compassion and care we give to our patients each and every single day is
not something many people have the ability to do. To date, I have been one of the
millions of compassionate and hardworking nurses around the world for over two
years.
I have reached a point in my nursing career where I am ready to advance further in
the field of nursing. The excitement and potential to learn a new a new field in
anesthesia and embrace the challenges in that field truly drives me. I have been
preparing for a future as a Nurse Anesthetist since I got my first job. I have been
blessed to have started my nursing career in two large Magnet teaching hospitals;
all of which I ve been working in the Intensive Care Unit. My experience in a
Cardio/Thoracic ICU as well as Surgical ICU that includes a Cardiovascular/Thoracic
ICU has helped mold me into the type of nurse that is prepared for the challenges in
Anesthesia, as well as a CRNA program. My exposures to these two types of units
have included multiple types of surgical procedures, high acuity patients, conscious
sedation, rapid sequence intubations, and emergent situations. Working alongside
