Progression to active TB can occur if the immune system is weakened. 2) Miliary tuberculosis is a fatal form where the bacteria spread through the bloodstream, causing nonspecific systemic symptoms like fever and weight loss. 3) Symptoms of TB arthritis include slowly progressive joint pain, swelling, and loss of function over weeks to months in one or more joints. Constitutional symptoms occur in about 30% of cases.
