Questions On Attitudes And Attitudes
For this assignment, I was assigned to take some assessments regarding some prejudices I might have.
In my opinion, I do not think if it matters whether we are black, white, catholic, or gay or straight.
Everyone regardless of certain demographics has some prejudice thoughts that are present in their
mind. Those prejudices do not mean that we are racist or discriminatory. For the most part we base
those prejudices on stereotypes that are not even true. From this website I had personally taken three
different assessments. These assessments had included prejudices on sexuality, race and weight. First,
the weight assessment gave me results I was not surprised from. The majority of these questions were
related to my tolerance towards overweight people compared to thinner individuals. In any event, my
results had indicated that I have a stronger preference for thin people then I have for those who are
overweight. However, I think that it is important to note that I used to be overweight. Two years ago I
weighed in at 220 pounds at my heaviest. Today, I have been able to maintain my current weight at
around 170 pounds. I lost the weight through a lot of dedication and changing my life habits. For this
reason, part of me is prejudice towards overweight people in a sense as my results had indicated. This
is because to a certain extent I see being overweight as being a life choice. For pretty much my whole
life until a couple of years ago I had choose to be overweight. But then

Business Communication Essay example
Business communication needs to become interpersonal again. No matter how we believe our human
forms came into existence, we were built to need personal contact and function best with face to face
communication. As children, we desired comfort from touch, a hug from our mothers. As teenagers,
we held hands with our boyfriend or girlfriend. As adults in the workforce, we still need to feel that
connection and comfort with our families and the people we work with. As Susan RoAne (2008),
owner of a speaking, consulting, and coaching business, discusses one way we feel this connection is
through getting to know and building trust by communicating in person. Through this interpersonal
interaction, we not only feel more comfortable around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the greatest success of the business, employees need interpersonal communication to connect with
their co workers. A leadership expert, John C. Maxwell (2010) says: Connecting goes beyond words.
(p. 41). Physically being in the same room, verbally speaking thoughts, engaging in eye contact, and
being able to see nonverbal responses are all important and add to a person s understanding of the
message being communicated and feeling a connection. Overall, communicating face to face is more
natural for employees. An employee knows who is hearing what they are saying and seeing their
nonverbal gestures. The employee can either get immediate feedback whether or not the person
understands or agrees or disagrees. The communication does not have to be formatted as it does on
paper. An employee should still present themselves professionally, but communicating face to face is a
process, instead of format.
Through in person communication, employees will be able to not only build needed connections, but
relationships and trust with co workers in the business. Maslow s hierarchy of needs is like a staircase,
a person needs to satisfy the lower stairs to easily reach and fulfill the higher staircases. If you refer to

The Paradox Of Success Research Paper
Another discipline that widely displays the paradox of finding success through failure is science. In
science there have been many great success stories, where scientists have achieved their success
through failure. An example of this is Thomas Edison, who experienced many setbacks in life but did
not let that stop him from reaching his goals. Thomas Edison was one of the most productive
inventors in American history. With 1,093 U.S. patents and more in the United Kingdom, France, and
Germany, no other inventor has come close to Edison s output (Edison, 2007). His resiliency is what
led to him finally getting it right. On his failed attempts, Edison said,
I have not failed 10,000 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving ... Show more

Interestingly enough, Thomas Edison who also struggled with setbacks, was a close friend of Henry
Ford and urged him to pursue his dreams of manufacturing cars. Edison s past experience allowed him
to be able to give him this sound advice. It wasn t always easy for Ford, who grew up knowing that an
individual could get ahead in the world by working hard. But social or economic conditions were not
an excuse, (Ford, 2003). He worked very hard, despite his economic status to become the success that
he was and still is today. His work ethic and mindset are what pushed him to keep going, even when
things were not going his way. He stated, You can do anything if you have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is
the yeast that makes your hopes rise to the stars, (Ford, 2003). I really like this metaphor of success,
because it is completely true. If we are able to have enthusiasm towards what we are trying to
accomplish, we will be more likely to reach it. This is similar to what a wise professor of mine says, If
your not having fun, you re not learning. Which goes hand in hand with success as well, because if
you are not enjoying what you are doing than you will not have any motivation to

African American Women During The Civil War
African American Women
In American history there have been many truly extraordinary women. These women range from all
different time periods, races and other backgrounds. Over the years women have participate or become
involved in multiple different themes including: politics, midwives or physicians, inventors, literary or
arts figures, feminists, suffrage or equal rights activist, wealthy women, academics, fighters physical
or metaphorical etc. This paper will exemplify three special women, all the while providing
background, some life achievements and details of their last years. These women are Ida Wells,
Isabella Baumfree (A.K.A Sojourner Truth) and Harriet Tubman. All African American abolitionist

Long Term Capital Management and the Hedge Fund Industry

Introduction
The Hedge fund industry is surrounded by much controversy and debate; and that for many years.
Lack of oversight, excessive returns, unclear impact on the market and more, are all subjects of
concerns for market participants and the public. According to Priya Jestin on Hedge Fund Street, on an
average day, between 18 and 22 percent of all trading on the New York Stock Exchange is related to
hedge funds . The increasing role that hedge funds are playing in the market is a source of the debate
surrounding them, fearing that the too big to fail problem arises in the hedge fund industry as well.
With low regulatory oversight, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually, redemptions are quarterly or even yearly with a notice period. In doing this, hedge fund
managers can vary their strategies by investing in illiquid assets since they can hold onto their
investors money for a longer and predictable period.
Last but not least, the fee structure of hedge funds is quite unique. The fees are much higher than
regular institutional fund managers. The administrative fee usually range from 1 % to 2% of the assets
under management (AUM) and the incentive fee, the large one, ranges from 15% to 20% of net new
profits. The latter fee is subject to a condition. The high watermark provision requires a hedge fund
managers to make up for incurred losses, if any, before receiving any incentives; which would happen
only after the returns are back to the previous levels. B) Trading practices
Nowadays, hedge funds have developed the trading practices to a level never imagined before. Indeed,
in order to keep investors interested in using the alternative investment world as a better strategy to
achieve profits, hedge fund managers keep finding new innovative ways to achieve alpha. Investment
strategies and styles are very diverse and adapted to the different risk profiles of investors; some of
which are quantitative while others are more qualitative in their approach. For instance, global
macroeconomic funds take positions based on their forecasts of global macroeconomic events while
event driven funds do

`` A Cyborg Manifesto `` By Donna Haraway
We invented machines to fulfill our necessities. As machines get smarter in the 21th century, we give
machines more permissions and freedom to do more things for us. However, the new generations that
are born with all the advanced technologies they needed don t quite understanding the use of machines
as we are more relying on them. The machines are quickly expanding and replacing our brains and
bodies even it is a simple task to do. But if we step back a little and think that we are the inventors of
these modern machines. Are we scare of machines taking over our societies or is it just our fear and
curiosity that tricked us? Well, we now cannot live without machines. Human and machine are bonded
together tightly that we can t identify who we really are. We become cyborg which is a more accurate
term to describe who we are now.
The reading A Cyborg Manifesto by Donna Haraway points out that we are cyborgs. There is no
difference between human and machine and this boundary has been breached. Cyborgs are a hybrid of
machine and organism. They often appear in the science fiction. Haraway describes that machines are
now doing most of our works while we just sit back and watch them doing what they suppose to do. It
feels like the machines are becoming alive and we are the one that rarely doing anything. However,
we are still on the top of the hierarchy no matter how machines will change our lives, we are still on
the top of the food chain. But even so, we can t ignore that

meeting
Agne: Good morning. Nice to meet you too.
Benas: Good morning.
Gabija: Good morning my name is Gabija and today I am going to start our meeting. As you know
The Chief Executive made the statement above to a group of investors three weeks ago. And our bank
as a result of unsuccessful investments lost 1.5billion pounds.
During the major review of our bank operations, main office has found out a lot of problems. Agne,
maybe you can introduce to us the conclusions.

Agne : I have thought about this problem. Well, I suppose that we can organise some English courses
for Indian people and instructions of communications. In this way we would have and opportunity to
build educated and excellent workers. Do you agree?
Gabija: No I think that the quality of service will not be as good as you think. Because India is low
developed country, and I think we will invest a lot of money and don t reach the best result.
Karolina: What do you think about firm s experience, does it have an influence to success of
company?
Agne: Well, as far as I know this company doesn t have lots of experience. But its company s success
influence some large contracts with US companies.
Agne: Talking more about the employees, they should be very skilled. Mostly of them must get
university graduates, so the service will be fast and efficient. As far as I know many American firms
cut costs by outsourcing to India as a result we can save some money. Besides, it will take 5.5 million
pounds for next five years to deal with X source to run the call centres to India. And it seems to me
that this contract will be the cheapest. In my opinion, the AB should think a lot about this idea.
OPTION 2: Outsource the call centres to a company based South Africa.
Karolina: I personally think that the best choise for AB would be outsourcing the call centres to Cape
Town. Resource PLc is located in this city, this firm has an excellent reputation for

Digital Media And Video Art And New Media Art
Pop culture and art have always intertwined, as art often reflect the culture and time of that period.
Now in this tech savvy culture of the 21st century, artists are trying to explain this weird new era of
technology seeping into our everyday lives, through video art and screen based media. There is no
doubt that the Internet has transformed our everyday lives, with useful apps, online banking and social
media, the world is not the same as it was 10 years ago. Future generations, wont even remember a
time without the Internet or touch screen devices. This type of new Internet culture opens and changes
the social dynamic and conventions, into a new language. For artists this opens up a new platform to
create, explore and to exhibit their work in a new space. Social media, allows people to connect and to
distribute content from all over the world, making it ever so easy to access anything now. However,
for the art world this raises questions as to who owns or curates content and whether new media art
that has emerged due to advancement of technology is considered fine art?
To understand this new wave of art, we first must define what is new media art is. New media art and
video art have very similar backgrounds and parallels. Video art emerged during the 1960 s, due to the
introduction of portable cameras, which allowed everyday people to create their own content. Similar
to video art, new media art or Internet art, emerged to the easy accesses of technology and the

embodies the distinct characteristics of what she refers to as a somebody in her poem, I m nobody!
Who are you? . Somebodies are individuals who when grouped together have few varying
characteristics between them. Though somebodies seemingly occupy most of the population, they are
countered by what Dickinson calls nobodies. Nobodies are characterized for being solitary and

In her poem, Dickinson say, I m Nobody! Who are you? Are you Nobody too, (Dickinson, 1 2). While
reading the text, the audience can hear that the self proclaimed nobody in the poem seems to be
astonished that they have met another nobody. Like the Nobody in the poem, today s Nobodies,
characterized by being introverts who are comfortable being themselves, seldom meet other people
whose beliefs and ideals venture far from that of pop culture. Later in the text, Dickinson says, Don t
tell! They d advertise you know, (Dickinson, 4). From this quote, the reader can infer that when
Dickinson says they would advertise the they that she is speaking of are the somebodies. Because
somebodies are so plentiful and common they make up the traditional group and anyone whose
thinking contrast to that of the somebodies thinking is put under a spotlight. Because nobodies will
always be those who venture from the norms of society, they will always be those that are less
common because they have chosen to take the road less

Immigrant In Potato Pancakes By Erich Maria Remarque
From a civilian s perspective, a soldier risking their life in war to protect their country is viewed as
heroic, honorable, and fearless. However, what most fail to realize is that soldiers risk more than only
their lives, but as well as their childhood, future, and most importantly their innocence. These
devastating losses ultimately result in society alienating veterans out of pure ignorance. The drastic
transformation that soldiers undergo often causes them to become outsiders in their own home. As a
response, some veterans attempt to aid civilians in grasping the effects of war through poetry, art, and
literature. Even though truly understanding the brutal nature of war is impossible without experiencing
it, veterans, such as the author ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently, Paul is barely able to connect with his childhood, thus he has not completely turned into a
stranger to society. However, once Remarque establishes the potato pancakes original meaning, he
quickly abandons it as Paul finally rejects his mother s last effort to reestablish their relationship. Paul
is again given potato pancakes by his mother, despite his family struggling to pay for his mother s
cancer treatments, but then develops no taste for them , prompting him to give them to the Russians
(Remarque 198). Although he realizes that [his] mother cooked them herself and that she was
probably in pain as she stood before the hot stove , he still proceeds to give away two cakes to the
Russians (198). This pivotal moment involves once again the mother s suffering for her son, but as
well as his sentiment towards her effort. The fact that he gives this symbol of family sacrifice away to
his enemies, who are complete strangers, reveals how his past is as unfamiliar to him as a stranger is.
Overall, this last refusal represents how war causes him to completely disconnect from his family,
childhood, and society in general. Once Paul is forced to

Donald Trump Political Scandal
There once was a young man named Rod. Rod had worked hard for the majority of his life. He was
born into a poorer family in Chicago. He took odd jobs growing up and later in life went into politics.
His life was looking up he had made a name for himself and decided to run for Governor. He won and
was then given a chance to decide who would fill the new president s seat in the senate. Instead of
picking a member of his party, or picking the most qualified candidate he decided to accept a bribe,
almost like a payment, for the seat. Now one might recognize this story. It s the story of Rod
Blagojevich, the former Illinois Governor who was impeached from office under an unanimous vote,
and imprisoned for 14 years on many charges including corruption. There are a few things that make
news headlines what the Kardashians are doing, Donald Trump s new racist claim, and Political
Scandals. Corruption is spreading so fast. It s almost moving faster than the flu through a kindergarten
classroom.
It is known the the people elect to run this country are abusing their power. If an example is needed
just look at everyone s best friend: Richard Nixon. He did a really good job at covering up his
corruption. If only the guys didn t mess up Watergate he would have finished his second term.

World War II and it gave the allies a chance to fight back against the axis. World War II also known as
the Second World War was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It was the most widespread
war in history, and directly involved more than 100 million people from over 30 countries. It all began
on 1 September, 1939 with the invasion of Poland by Germany and subsequent declarations of war on
Germany by France and the United Kingdom. From late 1939 to early 1941, in a series of campaigns

on D Day were to cut the Caen Bayeux road, seize the Car piquet airport west of Caen, and form a link

initially encountered heavy resistance from the German 716th Infantry Division; the preliminary
bombardment proved less effective than had been hoped and rough weather forced the first wave to be
delayed until 07:35. The beach was defended by two battalions of the German 716th Infantry
Division, with elements of the 21st Panzer Division in reserve near Caen. The Canadians took heavy
casualties in the opening minutes of the first wave. Strength of numbers, as well as coordinated fire
support from artillery and armored squadrons, cleared most of the coastal defenses within two hours
of landing. The subsequent push inland towards Car piquet and the Caen Bayeux railway line
achieved mixed results. The sheer numbers of men and vehicles on the beaches created lengthy delays
between the landing of the 9th Brigade and the beginning of substantive attacks to the south. The 7th

Pros And Cons Of Owning Exotic Pets
How many people think it is okay to have an exotic animal as a pet? People do not care about the
responsibilities that come with owning an exotic pet when they get a wild animal. There are many
positives and negatives regarding owning exotic pets, but the negatives outweigh the positives greatly.
Keeping these animals in captivity is not only harmful to others but harmful to the animal. When
treated as pets these animals grow into adults and act aggressively to others around them, spread
diseases, and enclosures cost a great amount and have to be created by professionals the majority of
the time. Many people mistake domesticated animals with exotic animals and are okay with owning
exotic pets. These wild animals are easy to deal with when they are small, but when they turn into

are born to be in the wild and trained to fend for themselves (Lewis). Statistics show that more people
die in car accidents every year than being killed by exotic animals, causing some to believe that it is
okay to own exotic pets ( REXANO Proves That Politicians... ). This thought contradicts itself when
the statistics of the amount of people being killed by animals were added. People think it is different

deaths. Owners are not aware of the precautions that need to have taken place to keep

Difference Between Ethernet Frames And VLAN Tagging
Ethernet Frames VLAN tagging
Inside of 802.1Q each VLAN frame is differently identified in comparison to common Ethernet
frames with what is known as a 4 byte VLAN tag on the Ethernet header. An Ethernet Frame equates
to being computer data packets that are broadcast as links then converts into a frame once shipped.
Each Ethernet Frame consists of a destination or source MAC address then payload data relating to its
type of Protocol e.g. Email Protocol, then lastly goes through a cyclic redundancy check to distinguish
any corruption of data. Additionally, we come across The Tag Protocol Identifier which is assigned to
0×8100 to give the receiver permission to locate the supplemental header. There is also the Priority
Code Point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ISL has power to host up to 1000 VLANs although 802.1q can enforce up to 4096. (Cisco, 2006)
802.2 Logical Link Control
Moreover, the logical link control sublayer of layer 2 is the OSI model. It is surprising that Ethernet
functions near the top of the first two layers within the OSI model, these are the Physical and the Data
Link layers. Furthermore, the Data Link layer in Ethernet separates into two different layers named as
the LLC (Logical Link Control) and MAC (Mac Address Control) layers. LLC is relied upon for the
basis of communicating data through multiple end user systems over a LAN via a MAC link. A major
benefit of LLC is its ability to initiate addresses and data link control by accepting data from the
higher layers in the OSI model that are TCP/IP in order for effortless and problem free transportation
on a network. There are other benefits which would give assistance to Chipset as it enforces successful
control of flow, media exchange and attention to tracking. (Geier, 2002)
HSRP Hot Standby Router Protocol*
In order to reach high network uptime networks can implement HSRP from Cisco to enable network
redundancy towards IP networks. This can be in place so that traffic from users is efficiently dealt with
straight away and the network can first hop failures from network devices.

Irony In Stephen Mitchell s The Book Of Job
Stephen Mitchell s translation of The Book of Job tells the story of Job an upright, righteous man with
a big family and lots of property. He s so perfect that God boasts him to Satan and describes him as a
man of perfect integrity, who fears God and avoids evil (6). This prompts Satan to offer to take away
everything meaningful to Job in order to test his faith to God, and God agrees to this. Just like that,
Job loses all his servants, property, and family (except his wife). However, he stays loyal, prompting
Satan to give him a plethora of rashes and blisters all over his body to further test him. This causes Job
to start searching for explanations as to why this is all happening to him. His friends, Eliphaz the
Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Namathite, come to visit him, and the four men discuss
their thoughts on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, in the First Round, he recounts a vision that conveyed to him the universal sinfulness of
man. Eliphaz sees this as proof that suffering is always justified. He says For pain does not spring
from the dust // or sorrow sprout from the soil: // man is the father of sorrow, // as surely as sparks fly
upward (18). Eliphaz is entirely convinced that Job must have sinned in some way, and that there is no
way that Job is having all this done to him without reason. Although it seems accusatory, Eliphaz is
speaking from his heart and truly trying to help Job and track down the origin of his problems.
However, Job is not very fond of the denunciations made by Eliphaz against him and takes up a very
defensive tone. He responds My friends are streams that go dry... You too have turned against me (22).
Job then tries to convey his honesty to his best ability and prove that he is being truthful, which is very
courageous considering everything that has happened to him thus

Teton Dam Failure
Ethical Case Study of the Teton Dam Failure
The collapse of Teton Dam on June 5th 1976 marked one of the greatest civil engineering disasters in
modern US history because of the utter lack of ethics that went into the execution of project. The dam
failure resulted in the deaths of 14 humans, over 13000 livestock, destroyed over 700 homes, 250
businesses, and damaged another 3000 homes. Despite the mercifully low number of human deaths,
this was an accident that never should have occurred in the first place. Dams have been critical to
civilizations for supplying water and hydraulic power for thousands of years. However, if safety
protocols and guidelines to dam building are taken lightly, catastrophic consequences follow; the
collapse of Teton ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Teton dam was built with the intention of providing a more constant supply of water, flood
control, and to serve as a hydro electric plant. The site was based in the Snake River Plain on the
Teton river. Although never truly in the epicenter of earthquakes, there have been several seismic
activities in close proximity to the proposed site in the previous years. No real concern was given to
this fact as investigations to building the dam continued. Geologically, the site was covered in rather
porous volcanic rock formations such as basalt, rhyolite, and tuff that formed from the ashes of a
Yellowstone supereruption 2.1 million years ago. Porous material is not ideal for dam formation. In
addition, there were significant fissures in the bedrocks. The tuff at the right abutment is also greatly
jointed, in other words the surface of the rocks were fractured into many visible pieces. The project
continued with no concern for these issues as they were technically solvable with proper treatment

Biological Networks And The Biomedical And Genomic Fields
In the past two decades, technological advances in the biomedical and genomic fields have generated
enormous volumes of omics data. These data continue to be scattered in various databases accessible
through the World Wide Web (Table 1), there have been some significant efforts to integrate these to
answer specific questions (e.g., candidate disease gene prioritization1, tissue specific interaction
networks2, etc.). Concomitant with the development of specialized powerful gene and protein and
disease variant annotation databases, there has been an explosion in the number of publications in the
scientific literature. For example, in October 2015, there were approximately 43000 journals in
PubMed (ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/pubmed/J_Entrez.txt) and more than 21.5 million PubMed abstracts.
Collectively, these resources represent different facets and also our current knowledge of
pathophysiological mechanisms. These heterogeneous and humongous data resources have spurred the
demand for development of robust and efficient computational approaches to store, process, integrate,
analyze, interpret and generate novel hypotheses.
Biological networks share several features (e.g., scale freeness and small world properties) with social
and communication networks3. Hence, the algorithms used for analyzing social networks or Web
networks are equally relevant and useful for processing or interpreting biomedical and omics
networks. The various types of the omics data, such as protein

The Four Major Aspects Of The Mabling Values Framework
The competing values framework is a theory that was initially created from Quin s research that was
carried out on the major indicators of effective organisations. Stability, control, flexibility and change
(adaptation) was the theorist s preference when composing this structure within the framework. Doing
so added additional dimensions in this organisational cultures theory. The four major models that
comprise of the competing values framework are the Humans relations Model, the Open Systems
Model, Rational Goal Model and the Internal Process Model. It is through these four fundamental
models that this theory develops its main cultures which are the clan culture, the adhocracy culture,
the market culture and lastly the hierarchy culture. The fact that New York has five mafia families
working the streets in its self is the penicil of the clan culture. The boss or the don is the leader of each
clan or mob or family or schmucks (the last one was only if they did a silly thing). Any of the given
five families love to adapt to their environment using steel and iron. They call them Uzi s. I call them
guns. Through the use their tools, they can create a hierarchy within their own families and others to
ensure they stay on top. They are also able to compete in their target market using those brass bullets
I.e. if someone is on their turf that shouldn t be, they kill them or tell them to go away. The adhocracy
culture I believe is where they thrive however. Gone are the days

Southern California Movie Industry
According to California: An Interpretative by James Rawls and Walton Bean 10th Edition Chapter 23
titled New Industries for Southern California, California has had a massive growth of the movie
industry since the early 20th century due to its competitive advantage in the production of movies over
the other American States (Rawls and Walton 280). The Movie industry in U.S began in the early 20th
century when Thomas Edison s opened the first film studio Black Maria in the West Orange New
Jersey. Thomas patented the film processing rights thereby sparking patent wars across U.S
filmmakers. The patent war led to a massive shift of filmmakers from New York to California in fear
of Edison Company agents who would seize cameras of the rival firms.

The Love Scene between George and Maire from Translations...
The Love Scene between George and Maire from Translations
This scene, in my opinion is the dramatic centre of Translations. The scene displays that George and
Maire have fallen in love as they return from the dance together; the pair find it hard to communicate,
and exhaust every method of communication before reciting place names to one another. The common
language of the place names increases the tension between George and Maire until, finally, they kiss.
The kiss is witnessed by Sarah who uses her new found talent of speech to tell
Manus. The scene, in my view is very important as it is the catalyst for the disastrous events which
follow, it leads to the disappearance of George, the search of Baile Baeg by new English ... Show

The scene subsequent to the love scene (Act 3 Scene 1) has a different premise and feeling than the
fairytale love scene; it is bleak and rushed as the audience are told that George is missing, and
Manus is packing up to leave implying some guilt and is evidently traumatized. Manus goes to the
extent of ignoring Sarah, which as she represents Ireland, makes a big impact; he is giving up. The
scene has a black mood, which contrasts with the hope the lovers shared in the previous scene.
The scene has significance as it gives a romantic side to the play whilst still representing the recurrent
themes. The use of place names as communication gives a magical, mythical bond between George
and
Maire, which draws the lovers together. Firstly, they gesture to one another, the most primitive form of
communication; an example of this:
(Indicating himself) George .
George is telling Maire his name, which is his identity and what describes him as a person. As the pair
recite their names to one another, it is as if they are allowing one another into their hearts, as a gesture
of love.
The pair also try to communicate in Latin, common words of one another s language and using the
elements, which increase the audience s suspense as the lovers desperately, try to get their meanings
across. George s constant sorry sorry? and Oh my God shows the desperation with which he tries

Value Of Life In Roger Jones s Human Life Calculator
After the death of a loved one, imagine being given a sum of money as compensation. Does each
dollar and cent fill the hole left in their absence? Of course that would be impossible, as the individual
lost was a living, breathing human with something irreplaceable to offer the world. The value of life
comes not from the monetary value deemed appropriate by society, the power one wields or the
situation an individual finds themselves born into, but rather exists just as simply as humanity itself;
there is no price tag on what one can contribute to the world.
As appalling as it might seem, many, even the government, might say a person is only as valuable as
their financial assets and what they do with them. Take a website called Human Life ... Show more

The successful film critic has been dealt a difficult hand, yet perseveres and continues to follow his
passions and do what he loves. He relates on this subject, To make ourselves unhappy is where all
crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world... We must try (Jones 34). Despite losing
critical aspects of himself, namely his voice, Ebert maintains a positive and productive outlook. He
learned to let go of what he could no longer make use of, and instead adapt new ways of
communication and functionality. Jones, the author of Roger Ebert: The Essential Man, writes, ...his
wide and expressive eyes, despite everything, are almost always smiling. There is no pity in me, he
writes on a scrap of paper one afternoon after someone parting looks at him a little sadly. Look how
happy I am. (Jones 27). Had Ebert placed the value of his life in his abilities and his situation in life,
his disposition would not be nearly as hopeful. Yet, due to his ability to surpass societal expectations
of worth, Ebert is looking at life with a renewed contentment, with his faith in the value of his life as
high as

Remember The Titans Segregation
Remember The Titans is a great football movie, and an even better civil rights movie. The movie
shows how TC Williams handled desegregation and how the football team brought the community
together. When the white players and black players came together for the first time, they did not get
along. Coach Herman Boone took the team to a camp, and the players started to get along. When the
players went back to school, they experienced the racism all over again. Eventually, the team helped
the school and community get over the desegregation. The movie takes place in 1971, and TC
Williams High School was one of the first high schools in the area to desegregate. The type of
segregation that the school had was de facto, which means that blacks and whites could go to school
together. However, there were still segregated schools because the kids in a neighborhood went to
school together, and the neighborhoods were usually full of people of one race. Brown vs. Board of
Education was an event that led to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most important part of the trip was that the players became close to each other and the team was a
family. Coach Boone made all of the players learn about each other and become comfortable with
each other. The camp was also essential for conditioning and learning plays. Seeing how hard the
players were pushed, you can tell that they would be in very good shape. There was a big difference of
how the team was when they boarded the bus to go to the camp, and when they arrived home. I think
that going to the camp was one of the biggest reasons for the teams success. In conclusion, Remember
the Titans was a very powerful movie. It was very enjoyable to watch, and is personally one of my
favorite movies. Remember the Titans shows how a football team helps their community overcome
the integration of blacks into TC Williams High School. I would highly recommend this movie to
anybody, even if they didn t like

Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp )
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is a description of a nation s production levels for a period of time, as
well as a measurement of economic viability. It is calculated by adding the consumption, investments,
governmental outlays, and net exports of a nation in either one year or a quarter. The different
components of GDP are at differing levels in each nation. China and Germany, for example, have
substantial net exports, and Singapore comparatively relies much more on government outlays to grow
its economy. Although the latter uses more governmental outlays than most nations, all nations to
some degree make attempts to alleviate economic downturns, as well as to maximize upward
movement. Though there must be concern for issues such as the notorious crowding out effect,
government activity is often the catalyst to dramatic changes in the economy. The previous example of
China as an exporter is true, however it must be noted that it too relies heavily on government
expenditures to create a stable economy that has the financial infrastructure to grow. As a matter of
fact, all the Economic Tiger nations had to use government planning to change their course from being
impoverished nations, to being financial hubs with much room for opportunity in the work force.
Japan alone, would not have become the first industrialized nation without its use of public loans and
active national bank. Since understanding a government s ability to spend is important for an
economy, it is critical to

Examples Of Learned Helplessness
Since childhood Sandra had experienced numerous difficulties in her life, began by her father who
was continuously abusing her in different ways, his actions had developed a sense of helplessness
inside of her that stayed with her for many years to follow at the age of 22 Sandra got married to her
husband who at first seemed to be a man of well manners, but it was proven later on that he was
completely the opposite of her expectations, besides he had also created an abusive unhealthy
environment for her which has further increased her level of helplessness. Learned helplessness is
defined as the inability to take control over one s life due to a previous lack of control in important life
outcomes (manyu li ,vaishali mardhekar, alka wadkar may 1 2012 ) The Learned helplessness
phenomenon is proposed as a model for the emotional numbing and maladaptive passivity sometimes

  • 2. Questions On Attitudes And Attitudes For this assignment, I was assigned to take some assessments regarding some prejudices I might have. In my opinion, I do not think if it matters whether we are black, white, catholic, or gay or straight. Everyone regardless of certain demographics has some prejudice thoughts that are present in their mind. Those prejudices do not mean that we are racist or discriminatory. For the most part we base those prejudices on stereotypes that are not even true. From this website I had personally taken three different assessments. These assessments had included prejudices on sexuality, race and weight. First, the weight assessment gave me results I was not surprised from. The majority of these questions were related to my tolerance towards overweight people compared to thinner individuals. In any event, my results had indicated that I have a stronger preference for thin people then I have for those who are overweight. However, I think that it is important to note that I used to be overweight. Two years ago I weighed in at 220 pounds at my heaviest. Today, I have been able to maintain my current weight at around 170 pounds. I lost the weight through a lot of dedication and changing my life habits. For this reason, part of me is prejudice towards overweight people in a sense as my results had indicated. This is because to a certain extent I see being overweight as being a life choice. For pretty much my whole life until a couple of years ago I had choose to be overweight. But then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Business Communication Essay example Business communication needs to become interpersonal again. No matter how we believe our human forms came into existence, we were built to need personal contact and function best with face to face communication. As children, we desired comfort from touch, a hug from our mothers. As teenagers, we held hands with our boyfriend or girlfriend. As adults in the workforce, we still need to feel that connection and comfort with our families and the people we work with. As Susan RoAne (2008), owner of a speaking, consulting, and coaching business, discusses one way we feel this connection is through getting to know and building trust by communicating in person. Through this interpersonal interaction, we not only feel more comfortable around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the greatest success of the business, employees need interpersonal communication to connect with their co workers. A leadership expert, John C. Maxwell (2010) says: Connecting goes beyond words. (p. 41). Physically being in the same room, verbally speaking thoughts, engaging in eye contact, and being able to see nonverbal responses are all important and add to a person s understanding of the message being communicated and feeling a connection. Overall, communicating face to face is more natural for employees. An employee knows who is hearing what they are saying and seeing their nonverbal gestures. The employee can either get immediate feedback whether or not the person understands or agrees or disagrees. The communication does not have to be formatted as it does on paper. An employee should still present themselves professionally, but communicating face to face is a process, instead of format. Through in person communication, employees will be able to not only build needed connections, but relationships and trust with co workers in the business. Maslow s hierarchy of needs is like a staircase, a person needs to satisfy the lower stairs to easily reach and fulfill the higher staircases. • 4. The Paradox Of Success Research Paper Another discipline that widely displays the paradox of finding success through failure is science. In science there have been many great success stories, where scientists have achieved their success through failure. An example of this is Thomas Edison, who experienced many setbacks in life but did not let that stop him from reaching his goals. Thomas Edison was one of the most productive inventors in American history. With 1,093 U.S. patents and more in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, no other inventor has come close to Edison s output (Edison, 2007). His resiliency is what led to him finally getting it right. On his failed attempts, Edison said, I have not failed 10,000 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interestingly enough, Thomas Edison who also struggled with setbacks, was a close friend of Henry Ford and urged him to pursue his dreams of manufacturing cars. Edison s past experience allowed him to be able to give him this sound advice. It wasn t always easy for Ford, who grew up knowing that an individual could get ahead in the world by working hard. But social or economic conditions were not an excuse, (Ford, 2003). He worked very hard, despite his economic status to become the success that he was and still is today. His work ethic and mindset are what pushed him to keep going, even when things were not going his way. He stated, You can do anything if you have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is the yeast that makes your hopes rise to the stars, (Ford, 2003). I really like this metaphor of success, because it is completely true. If we are able to have enthusiasm towards what we are trying to accomplish, we will be more likely to reach it. This is similar to what a wise professor of mine says, If your not having fun, you re not learning. Which goes hand in hand with success as well, because if you are not enjoying what you are doing than you will not have any motivation to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. `` A Cyborg Manifesto `` By Donna Haraway We invented machines to fulfill our necessities. As machines get smarter in the 21th century, we give machines more permissions and freedom to do more things for us. However, the new generations that are born with all the advanced technologies they needed don t quite understanding the use of machines as we are more relying on them. The machines are quickly expanding and replacing our brains and bodies even it is a simple task to do. But if we step back a little and think that we are the inventors of these modern machines. Are we scare of machines taking over our societies or is it just our fear and curiosity that tricked us? Well, we now cannot live without machines. Human and machine are bonded together tightly that we can t identify who we really are. We become cyborg which is a more accurate term to describe who we are now. The reading A Cyborg Manifesto by Donna Haraway points out that we are cyborgs. There is no difference between human and machine and this boundary has been breached. Cyborgs are a hybrid of machine and organism. They often appear in the science fiction. Haraway describes that machines are now doing most of our works while we just sit back and watch them doing what they suppose to do. It feels like the machines are becoming alive and we are the one that rarely doing anything. Because India is low developed country, and I think we will invest a lot of money and don t reach the best result. But its company s success influence some large contracts with US companies. Agne: Talking more about the employees, they should be very skilled. Besides, it will take 5.5 million pounds for next five years to deal with X source to run the call centres to India. And it seems to me that this contract will be the cheapest. Now in this tech savvy culture of the 21st century, artists are trying to explain this weird new era of technology seeping into our everyday lives, through video art and screen based media. There is no doubt that the Internet has transformed our everyday lives, with useful apps, online banking and social media, the world is not the same as it was 10 years ago. Future generations, wont even remember a time without the Internet or touch screen devices. This type of new Internet culture opens and changes the social dynamic and conventions, into a new language. For artists this opens up a new platform to create, explore and to exhibit their work in a new space. Social media, allows people to connect and to distribute content from all over the world, making it ever so easy to access anything now. However, for the art world this raises questions as to who owns or curates content and whether new media art that has emerged due to advancement of technology is considered fine art? To understand this new wave of art, we first must define what is new media art is. New media art and video art have very similar backgrounds and parallels. In the eyes of Emily Dickinson, the writer of the cited quote, the majority of the population embodies the distinct characteristics of what she refers to as a somebody in her poem, I m nobody! Who are you? . Somebodies are individuals who when grouped together have few varying characteristics between them. Though somebodies seemingly occupy most of the population, they are countered by what Dickinson calls nobodies. Nobodies are characterized for being solitary and introverted. In her poem, Dickinson say, I m Nobody! Who are you? Are you Nobody too, (Dickinson, 1 2). While reading the text, the audience can hear that the self proclaimed nobody in the poem seems to be astonished that they have met another nobody. Like the Nobody in the poem, today s Nobodies, characterized by being introverts who are comfortable being themselves, seldom meet other people whose beliefs and ideals venture far from that of pop culture. Later in the text, Dickinson says, Don t tell! They d advertise you know, (Dickinson, 4). From this quote, the reader can infer that when Dickinson says they would advertise the they that she is speaking of are the somebodies. Because somebodies are so plentiful and common they make up the traditional group and anyone whose thinking contrast to that of the somebodies thinking is put under a spotlight. • 12. Immigrant In Potato Pancakes By Erich Maria Remarque From a civilian s perspective, a soldier risking their life in war to protect their country is viewed as heroic, honorable, and fearless. However, what most fail to realize is that soldiers risk more than only their lives, but as well as their childhood, future, and most importantly their innocence. These devastating losses ultimately result in society alienating veterans out of pure ignorance. The drastic transformation that soldiers undergo often causes them to become outsiders in their own home. As a response, some veterans attempt to aid civilians in grasping the effects of war through poetry, art, and literature. Currently, Paul is barely able to connect with his childhood, thus he has not completely turned into a stranger to society. However, once Remarque establishes the potato pancakes original meaning, he quickly abandons it as Paul finally rejects his mother s last effort to reestablish their relationship. Paul is again given potato pancakes by his mother, despite his family struggling to pay for his mother s cancer treatments, but then develops no taste for them , prompting him to give them to the Russians (Remarque 198). Although he realizes that [his] mother cooked them herself and that she was probably in pain as she stood before the hot stove , he still proceeds to give away two cakes to the Russians (198). This pivotal moment involves once again the mother s suffering for her son, but as well as his sentiment towards her effort. The fact that he gives this symbol of family sacrifice away to his enemies, who are complete strangers, reveals how his past is as unfamiliar to him as a stranger is. Overall, this last refusal represents how war causes him to completely disconnect from his family, childhood, and society in general. Once Paul is forced to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The landings initially encountered heavy resistance from the German 716th Infantry Division; the preliminary bombardment proved less effective than had been hoped and rough weather forced the first wave to be delayed until 07:35. The beach was defended by two battalions of the German 716th Infantry Division, with elements of the 21st Panzer Division in reserve near Caen. • 21. Pros And Cons Of Owning Exotic Pets How many people think it is okay to have an exotic animal as a pet? People do not care about the responsibilities that come with owning an exotic pet when they get a wild animal. There are many positives and negatives regarding owning exotic pets, but the negatives outweigh the positives greatly. Keeping these animals in captivity is not only harmful to others but harmful to the animal. When treated as pets these animals grow into adults and act aggressively to others around them, spread diseases, and enclosures cost a great amount and have to be created by professionals the majority of the time. Many people mistake domesticated animals with exotic animals and are okay with owning exotic pets. These wild animals are easy to deal with when they are small, but when they turn into adults they are more aggressive and harder to care for. Not all animals are trying to harm others, they are born to be in the wild and trained to fend for themselves (Lewis). Statistics show that more people die in car accidents every year than being killed by exotic animals, causing some to believe that it is okay to own exotic pets ( REXANO Proves That Politicians... ). Each Ethernet Frame consists of a destination or source MAC address then payload data relating to its type of Protocol e.g. Email Protocol, then lastly goes through a cyclic redundancy check to distinguish any corruption of data. It is surprising that Ethernet functions near the top of the first two layers within the OSI model, these are the Physical and the Data Link layers. Furthermore, the Data Link layer in Ethernet separates into two different layers named as the LLC (Logical Link Control) and MAC (Mac Address Control) layers. LLC is relied upon for the basis of communicating data through multiple end user systems over a LAN via a MAC link. A major benefit of LLC is its ability to initiate addresses and data link control by accepting data from the higher layers in the OSI model that are TCP/IP in order for effortless and problem free transportation on a network. There are other benefits which would give assistance to Chipset as it enforces successful control of flow, media exchange and attention to tracking. This prompts Satan to offer to take away everything meaningful to Job in order to test his faith to God, and God agrees to this. Just like that, Job loses all his servants, property, and family (except his wife). These data continue to be scattered in various databases accessible through the World Wide Web (Table 1), there have been some significant efforts to integrate these to answer specific questions (e.g., candidate disease gene prioritization1, tissue specific interaction networks2, etc.). Concomitant with the development of specialized powerful gene and protein and disease variant annotation databases, there has been an explosion in the number of publications in the scientific literature. For example, in October 2015, there were approximately 43000 journals in PubMed (ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/pubmed/J_Entrez.txt) and more than 21.5 million PubMed abstracts. Collectively, these resources represent different facets and also our current knowledge of pathophysiological mechanisms. Biological networks share several features (e.g., scale freeness and small world properties) with social and communication networks3. The Four Major Aspects Of The Mabling Values Framework The competing values framework is a theory that was initially created from Quin s research that was carried out on the major indicators of effective organisations. Stability, control, flexibility and change (adaptation) was the theorist s preference when composing this structure within the framework. Doing so added additional dimensions in this organisational cultures theory. The four major models that comprise of the competing values framework are the Humans relations Model, the Open Systems Model, Rational Goal Model and the Internal Process Model. It is through these four fundamental models that this theory develops its main cultures which are the clan culture, the adhocracy culture, the market culture and lastly the hierarchy culture. The scene displays that George and Maire have fallen in love as they return from the dance together; the pair find it hard to communicate, and exhaust every method of communication before reciting place names to one another. The common language of the place names increases the tension between George and Maire until, finally, they kiss. The kiss is witnessed by Sarah who uses her new found talent of speech to tell Manus. • 32. Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp ) Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is a description of a nation s production levels for a period of time, as well as a measurement of economic viability. It is calculated by adding the consumption, investments, governmental outlays, and net exports of a nation in either one year or a quarter. The different components of GDP are at differing levels in each nation. China and Germany, for example, have substantial net exports, and Singapore comparatively relies much more on government outlays to grow its economy. Although the latter uses more governmental outlays than most nations, all nations to some degree make attempts to alleviate economic downturns, as well as to maximize upward movement. Though there must be concern for issues such as the notorious crowding out effect, government activity is often the catalyst to dramatic changes in the economy. The previous example of China as an exporter is true, however it must be noted that it too relies heavily on government expenditures to create a stable economy that has the financial infrastructure to grow. As a matter of fact, all the Economic Tiger nations had to use government planning to change their course from being impoverished nations, to being financial hubs with much room for opportunity in the work force.
