• Tilt correction will not work in all environments
Calibration Process
• Step 1: Tilt Calibration (same as original process)
– Align the tilt sensor with gravity
– Level the receiver on a tri-brach and wait 20 seconds
• Step 2: 3D Magnetometer Calibration
– Calibration the magnetic sensor
– Rotate the receiver 360 degrees through several axis’
• Step 3: 2D Magnetometer Calibration
– Aligns the magnetic and tilt sensors
– Hold the receiver level and rotate through 360 degrees

  • 10. Guards Against Pole Tilt • Guards against erroneous measurements due to pole tilt • A tilt warning appears if the pole is ever outside the user defined tilt tolerance during a measurement or at start/storage
  • 11. Auto Measure/Store • Hundreds of points can be stored with only one tap on the Start button • Measurement begins when tilt is within a pre-defined tolerance (default: 0.020m) • Auto-stored after two epochs – go to the next point… 0.010m 0.020m 0.030m

  • 14. Tilt Correction • Uses internal tilt and compass sensors to determine the spatial relationship between the Trimble R10 and the tip of the survey pole • New method: “Compensated Point” • Maximum tilt: 15°
  • 16. Magnetic Disturbance • Tilt correction will not work in all environments

Calibration Process • Step 1: Tilt Calibration (same as original process) – Align the tilt sensor with gravity – Level the receiver on a tri-brach and wait 20 seconds • Step 2: 3D Magnetometer Calibration – Calibration the magnetic sensor – Rotate the receiver 360 degrees through several axis’ • Step 3: 2D Magnetometer Calibration – Aligns the magnetic and tilt sensors – Hold the receiver level and rotate through 360 degrees
