MTM - 2021 Seminar - Bright Side of Technology - Feb 2021SamuelWarner9
With lockdown shaping much of our experience in 2020 - and having a continued impact into 2021, the role of digital tools and platforms has never been more prominent. As a result, our relationship with technology - how we use it, and how we feel about it (or perhaps more importantly, how it makes us feel) is undergoing a transformation. The same digital platforms and devices we have told ourselves to detox from have become the only means of keeping in touch with others, providing us with endless entertainment and offering us community.
As we kick into 2021, we ask how brands can adapt to these changes, reaching out to displaced, remote consumers and meeting their expectation of a more positive role of tech.
This article has been written by Nehal Shah, a Design Researcher. This article was published in issue 06 of Social Technology Quarterly.
Summary: Identifying trends, fads, and patterns in behaviours through a socio-cultural perspective is key to understanding users’ needs. How these are determined in terms of relevance and impact is important to
businesses.

Change is a constant
Society is transforming. Powerful trends are reshaping businesses, driving new technologies, shifting talent needs, and changing human behaviour. It is crucial for all industries to stay up to date with these changes, and respond accordingly.
We’ve mapped these trends for over 20 years by collaborating with industry leaders across the world. We use the insights to shape our programs, so that our talented students meet market demand. With these reports we are sharing our insights with the world.
This is the second issue of the trend report Changes of Tomorrow. It builds on the first report released in Spring 2015. The focus stays the same with four themes framing the research, and we’ve collaborated to define new trends and update existing ones.
Regardless of your industry, it’s essential to consider the impact of these changes on your work. The “Reflect” sections at the end of each trend will help you do that. You will also find tips, tools, and methods to support you to stay up to date and lead the change.
Second of three parts for a workshop on social media and branding done in Istanbul in June 2011. This part covers current trends fuelled in part or totally by social media. Other parts provide a background on social media, why it is so important for business and how to get started with social media in your business.
Brand innovations, creative strategies, interactive communication media / mediums, or even über marketing efforts of today are not enough to satisfy the individual desires of tomorrow’s consumers. The creation of a hybrid brand ecology is the revolution needed to fuel the consumerism of 7.1 billion people. Considering all the above, here are my predictions on creating a ‘brand tomorrow.’
Thinking of getting a dog? Be aware that breeds like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, and German Shepherds can be loyal and dangerous. Proper training and socialization are crucial to preventing aggressive behaviors. Ensure safety by understanding their needs and always supervising interactions. Stay safe, and enjoy your furry friends!

The simplified electron and muon model, Oscillating Spacetime: The Foundation...RitikBhardwaj56
Discover the Simplified Electron and Muon Model: A New Wave-Based Approach to Understanding Particles delves into a groundbreaking theory that presents electrons and muons as rotating soliton waves within oscillating spacetime. Geared towards students, researchers, and science buffs, this book breaks down complex ideas into simple explanations. It covers topics such as electron waves, temporal dynamics, and the implications of this model on particle physics. With clear illustrations and easy-to-follow explanations, readers will gain a new outlook on the universe's fundamental nature.

4. Hoverboards, loom bands, tamagochi
pets, designer coffee lattes, Candy
Crush, Pokemon Go – these are just
some of the products that became
popular in recent and not-so recent
memory.
5. Most of the time, they come as
consumer products bearing a
definite price tag, touted in
advertisements as “cool” or as the
new “in” thing.
6. According to Bikhchandani, Hirschleifer, and Welch
(1992)
Define fads as “seemingly drastic
swings in mass behavior without
obvious external stimuli.”
7. Mass behavior means a huge
following, a mob subscribing to its
use or patronage.
8.
9. Take the example of a fax machine
as a product that can only be used
with other fax machines.
10. Facebook becomes a more valuable
social media platform not only
because more people use it, but
also because it expands the
connections one account holder
could obtain.
11. However, this only explains why
some products generate a huge
following. It still cannot explain why
some goods exit the market very
rapidly.
12. INFORMATION CASCADES
This happen when a potential
consumer or user abandons his or
her own information and defer to the
decision made by other individuals.
13. FOR EXAMPLE
A mob gathered around a food park
in the city is enough to entice a
group of newcomers to join the
crowd.
14. FINITE VARIABILITY
This happens when its
manufacturers can no longer
manipulate or introduce new
features; thus, wearing out the
interest and loyalty of its initial
market.
15. This can be true for some fads – the
product can be so limited in design
and execution and leaves no more
possibility for product innovation.
16. FOR EXAMPLE
Pokemon Go app’s popularity
declined rapidly because
developers did not introduce new
elements to keep players from
getting bored.
17. A FAD is often used
interchangeably with the word
TREND.
18. FADS
A fad is any form of behavior that is
intensely followed by a population for a
short period of time. The behavior will
rise relatively quickly and fall relatively
quickly once the perception of novelty is
gone. There are some great fads out
there!
19.
20. TREND
A new item or a practice that
stabilizes and transforms into a
habit, a lifestyle, or an enduring
product.
25. Understanding factors that shape
trends can provide us insights into
how to predict trends, how they are
developing, and how they are
sustained.
26. HUMAN NEEDS
Humankind will instinctively tend to its
needs. Our desire to build a better world
and improve the quality of life compels us
to discover, invent, and explore new
technologies, products, services, and
skills.
28. GLOBALIZATION
The global exchange of goods and services,
including human capital. What happens in
one part of the world can easily be picked up
by the rest of the world through information
and communication technologies, such as
broadcast television and the Internet.
30. FACEBOOK
The most popular social networking site in
the Philippines. It has grown into a multi-use
environment, catering to businesses and
entrepreneurial where information circulated.
31. The platform uses specific activities
or status information to find more
people who would be interested in
the products ads.
32. It has become the go-
to platform to find out
what is currently
making news or in
Twitter speak, what is
“trending.”
33. To find what is trending, it uses the
hashtag (#) to be placed before a
word or a phrase so it will be easier
for users to find specific content.
