Offering examples of Smart Cities from around the world and explaining where the advantage is with the different versions that exist around the planet.
On 2 and 3 October 2013, the GTP hosted a series of seminars and scenario planning workshops to capture ideas. In attendance at the "Imagine the Future" Seminar was a cross-sector mix of people including councillors, City and Provincial government officials, planners and urban designers, researchers, NGOS, built environment professionals, and members of the media.
This presentation by the the managing director of Future Cape Town, a public benefit think tank, the nature of placemaking, community building and city structure is discussed in a visual style. It considers international case studies in the art of placemaking that recognises the central participation and co-creation of communities. It also unpacks the large driving forces in the world, and how that plays into the process of placemaking.

Smart cities, empowering people - Robert Ouellette in CRJEmily Hough
What happens the day cities become sentient, smarter than their citizens? Will we have a frightening, Terminator-like world? Robert Ouellette thinks not, but says the days of cities that are smarter than their humans are coming soon...

The Future of Mobility - How Hyperloop, Boom Supersonic and Driverless Cars W...Antonio Auricchio
We are now on the verge of a new technological revolution of mobility. Transonic trains, supersonic airplanes and electric driverless cars will have the same impact on our modernity as their current old-fashioned versions had on our parents’. Mobility, or the lack of it, once again will decide which country, company or even person will drive the upcoming changes.
The aim of this Policy Brief is to raise awareness on the megatrends that are likely to transform the shape of our cities and the way we commute.
The future of cities: creative solutions for a brighter urban life Individual mobility is as simple as taking a walk. But the more that humans have to live in shared spaces, the more mobility becomes about technology—powering transit, but also coordinating it. And nowhere is this linkage as vivid as in cities.
Tomorrow's cities will be shaped by human-centric technology solutions—more ""Iron Man"" and less ""Skynet."" Over the coming decades, we'll see the proliferation of autonomous, connected, electric, shared transportation systems that will increase, rather than decrease, the importance of superb mass-transit systems and multi-modal options for getting from point A to point B. We'll create public/private partnerships, with policymakers at the local level creating markets for new technologies, infrastructure development, and advancing new thinking like mileage-based user fees. At the same time, denser cities will blur the lines between where we live and work, our energy consumption and production, and how we get around.
Ultimately, this upheaval creates vast new opportunities for business model innovation and startup wealth creation. Join URBAN-X Managing Director Micah Kotch for his view from the frontlines of urban mobility."

The Future of Maps for Mobility / Geography2050Janine Yoong
While high-resolution satellite imagery is the foundation of digital mapping, the demands of urban mobility require highly accurate, frequently updated data from a different vantage point – the ground. Recent advances in street-level imagery collection and data extraction are lifting up new trends in location-based services, smart cities, and autonomous vehicles. As map technologists push the boundaries of machine intelligence for extracting data from images, human collaboration will drive the creation of maps for mobility for all.
How will data-driven platforms, infrastructure, and policy converge to shape urban transportation in the decades to come? The emergence of autonomous vehicles and integrated, smart transit systems have only begun to influence urban planning and design. Sensors, optics, maps, data, and the sharing economy are just the beginning. Think “mobility-as-a-service.”

Autonomous vehicles constitute a technological revolution, taking urban mobility to a new level. Used to supplement traditional
transport modes, autonomous vehicles offer a mobility solution that is accessible, environmentally friendly, flexible and cost-efficient.
Keolis has pioneered the first successful trials of driverless vehicles for public transport and is focused on the seamless integration of autonomous mobility into existing transport networks.
At iomob we seek to transform urban mobility from its current fragmented state towards a decentralised internet of mobility marketplace. This white paper seeks to explore emerging trends and future directions towards more seamless access to public and private mobility services.

Moscow Urban Forum

0x01 - Newton's Third Law: Static vs. Dynamic AbusersOWASP Beja
f you offer a service on the web, odds are that someone will abuse it. Be it an API, a SaaS, a PaaS, or even a static website, someone somewhere will try to figure out a way to use it to their own needs. In this talk we'll compare measures that are effective against static attackers and how to battle a dynamic attacker who adapts to your counter-measures.

Autonomous vehicles are key.
There’s a new type of car or
