The document discusses the future of location technology and the role of the HERE Open Location Platform (OLP). It argues that current location services are not adequate to support an autonomous future with 10 billion people living in giant cities. The OLP aims to address this by providing developers with a better map, more location data sources, and a platform to access and analyze location data to build new location-based applications and services. It describes the OLP architecture with layers for data access, processing, publishing and a development environment connected to a marketplace. An example is given of a cycling app developer using OLP to access more data and create a new bike road safety index service.

Data is the fuel of the connected world, and aspects like value, trust, transparency and ultimately ownership have been a continuous source for debate. As our technical capabilities and our comfort with and within the connected world evolves, so does the conversation about our habits and practices around customer data. As a product strategy and design company that has been leading the industry for more than four decades, I believe that frog is in a good position to reflect forward.
Appscrip evolved from years of experience making mobility solutions and being a tech solution provider for startups. We soon realized that there was no specialized provider who can act as a technology partner for startups that are working on on-demand, social, discovery, messaging and shopping platforms and that brought about the whole idea that is APPSCRIP today. We have identified the common denominator to help the end platform owners save time and money and allow them to focus on their core product. They can draw comfort from the fact that the underlying technology (Prebuilt IP) is already driving successful platforms around the world.

Where the Heck Am I? Understanding Location in Your Application (Droidcon 2019)Richard Süselbeck
Using GPS to find out exactly where we are is one of the more awesome powers of our mobile devices. It also poses some of the toughest challenges to developers, who must prevent excessive battery drain and deal with insufficient accuracy. In this talk we will learn how to face these challenges by answering questions such as: How does GPS even work? Where the heck did my battery go? Why does it take so long to get a good fix? And why does my phone think I’m in the middle of a lake? If you’ve ever wanted to understand how satellite navigation actually works, this is the talk for you. (It also features cold war intrigue, applied relativity theory, and a picture of a dinosaur. So you know it’s going to be good.)
Maps for Autonomous Driving - it-symposium.ruhr 2019 BochumRichard Süselbeck
There are many different autonomous driving programs, but they all have one thing in common: they all use maps. In this brief talk we’ll look at why maps are so critical for self-driving cars, what these maps look like, how they can help a vehicle understand where it is, what’s around it, and how to make driving decisions.

When was the last time you were truly lost? Thanks to the maps and location technology in our phones, a whole generation has now grown up in a world where getting lost is truly a thing of the past. Location technology goes far beyond maps in the palm of our hand, however. In this talk, we will explore how a ridesharing app works. How do we discover our destination? How do we find the closest driver? How do we display this information on a map? How do we find the best route? To answer these questions,we will be learning about a variety of location APIs, including Maps, Positioning, Geocoding and more.
How to Build Your Own Ridesharing App (droidcon NYC 2018)Richard Süselbeck
When was the last time you were truly lost? Thanks to the maps and location technology in our smartphones, a whole generation has now grown up in a world where getting lost is truly a thing of the past.
Location technology goes far beyond maps in the palm of our hand, however. Today it is at the heart of a broad range of applications, from logistics to games, from social networks to ridesharing.
In this talk, we will explore how a ridesharing app works. We will ask questions such as: How do we find out where the passenger is located? How do we discover our destination? How do we find the closest driver? How do we provide a correct ETA to the passenger in heavy traffic? How do we display this information on a map? How do we find the best route to the destination?
To answer these questions, we will be learning about a variety of location APIs, including Maps, Positioning, Geocoding, Routing, Traffic, Places, and much more.
At the end you should be able to build your own ridesharing app or any clever app for which location matters.
HERE Intermodal Routing API (GeoMonday Berlin 2018)Richard Süselbeck
HERE Intermodal Routing API is a REST API that allows you to plan a trip using different modes of transportation in the same journey to deliver optimized routes. It currently supports Park and Ride use cases that include driving via car, parking at a dedicated parking lot, and continuing to your final destination via public transit.
Introduction to Map and Location APIs (Silicon Valley Code Camp 2017)Richard Süselbeck
We've all gotten lost at some point in our lives. Finding out where we are, where we want to go, and how to get there is hard enough for people, but it’s even harder for our applications and devices. Fortunately, map and location APIs are here to help. From latitudes to longitudes, from geocoding to routing, in this session you'll learn to go beyond maps and help your apps and devices find their way using location technology.
zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Drone Highways. New Mobility Concepts. Smart Cities. Roomba. Everything is a sensor (cow).
By 2050 we will have close to 10 billion people on this planet
At least 50 megacities (each with more than 10 million, some up to 40 million, inhabitants)
Autonomous vehicles, drones, completely new mobility concepts.
”Virtual roads” are needed so that drones can glide through the system
Robots
Everything will be a sensor(array). Including cows!!
What technology to make sense of the enormous amounts of data that we collect every day?
One thing is certain: Location is the glue that links these factors together

We have great maps, but they don‘t know about washed away costal roads, construction, pot holes. At least not immediately. Why doesn‘t it learn automatically about lane closures, new speed limits (temporary or otherwise).
Of course, the current map & location tools are still pretty cool
If current location technology isn‘t quite up to snuff, what do we need. How does our perfect imaginary location technology look like?
But more than this. We need HD maps. We need live maps. We need real-time maps. We need a Reality Index™.
A geocoder is a useful tool. It will remain a useful tool. But how do I connect the geocoder to the stream of data coming in from my things? How do I connect my map to the cars, so it can self-heal? How do I get location data I don‘t have? How do I find users for my location data? How do I do analytics on my data? How do I as a developer access all this data, these services?
We need a thriving location ecosystem.
We can only build the future with such a platform, if it‘s powerful tools and data are available to developers.
