2. Opening PowerPoint
• After logging in to your
computer double click
the PowerPoint icon

3. Selecting a Theme
• The theme page appears
after opening PowerPoint.
There are many themes
you can choose from.
Click on the theme you
want to apply to your slide
show.

4. Changing the Theme
• If you need to change the theme once you’ve started click on
the DESIGN tab on the ribbon at the top. A selection of all
available themes appear – click on them to see what they look
like in the slide show and to select a theme.

5. Adding Slides
• To add a new slide to
the presentation
select the NEW
SLIDE button in the
HOME tab on the
ribbon. There are
different options
available to use.

6. Adding Text
• To add text to a slide simply click inside the text box
and begin typing.
• To add a text box to your slide go to the INSERT tab
and select TEXT BOX. You will notice your mouse
pointer has changed shape. You will need to click on
the slide, drag to size it, then release to create the text
box.

7. Adding Images
• To add an image to the
presentation select the
PICTURE button in the
INSERT tab on the
ribbon. To insert a
picture saved on your
computer chose
INSERT PICTURE
FROM FILE and locate
where the photo is
saved.

8. Adding Transitions
• Select the TRANSITIONS tab on the ribbon. A
selection will appear of different transition options
available. Click on them to see what they will look
like in the slide show and to apply it to the slide.
You can have a different transition for each slide.

9. Saving as .pps
• Saving your file as .pps will open the slide show immediately.
Click on the FILE tab and then choose EXPORT. Then
select CHANGE FILE TYPE. Different options will appear
you should choose PowerPoint Show to save as .pps
