2. THE IMPORTANCE OF AUDIENCE
FEEDBACK
• Getting audience feedback was crucial for our final trailer as after this draft, no more
changes were going to be made. Audience feedback is so important as it informed
us of what of what others thought needed to be improved, and what others’
believed to be strengths. Although critical feedback was the most important factor
when receiving feedback, the positive feedback is also extremely important as it
allows us to understand what aspects of the trailer don’t need to be focused on, so
that we can spend our time on the more pressing issues.
• We got this feedback by sitting people down, showing them our final trailer and
asking them to give us the three biggest downfalls of our trailer, and what they
deemed to be the biggest weaknesses.
• I have identified the most helpful response sheets, these influenced us the most
when analysing what needed to be changed.
3. FEEDBACK SHEET 1
This feedback sheet states that our three biggest
strengths are the camera work, editing and acting.
Although this is quite vague, it does highlight
some key facts. Firstly, as the camera work is very
strong, it highlights that I do not need to re-film
and scenes. Cinematography was something that
my group focused heavily upon so that it would
look professional, and seeing that the audience
mirror these thoughts is very pleasing as a creator.
As well as this, we were very critical when casting
actors as we know how important good acting is
when trying to portray a narrative, especially in
such a short space of time.
Lastly, although it is highlighted that the editing is
very effective, this comment is very vague and so
we are unable to identify what aspects were the
most effective, and what editing could be changed
to be made more effective.
4. FEEDBACK SHEET 2Unlike the first feedback sheet, this one identifies the
top three weaknesses within our trailer.
The weaknesses identified are sound and the length of
our trailer.
The weakness of our sound is helpfully identified; the
sound of the gun shots being too quiet. As this is so
specific it is extremely helpful and therefore a very easy
adjustment to make to our final draft before
submission. We are also able to try and identify other
parts of the trailer where the sound may be too quiet
and adjust that as well.
The length of the trailer has been highlighted as an
issue previously. Although we did not initially identify
this as a huge problem, the repeat of this weakness
made us rethink our decision to keep our trailer quite
long. Although our trailer is still quite long, we have
shortened it before submission so that it was more
pleasing to the audience.
5. FEEDBACK SHEET 3
Much like the first feedback sheet, this also highlights
what this person deems to be the most effective
elements of our trailer.
The strengths highlighted here are the editing, camera
work and mise-en-scene.
Although these are very brief in highlight specifically
what Is strong about these features, it does highlight
to us that other things such as titles and sound can be
improved and focused on more.
The fact that the mise-en-scene Is identified as being
strong emphasises to us that the genre must be clear
within our trailer, which was one of our main aims.
6. FEEDBACK SHEET 4
Once again, this feedback highlights that the length
of our trailer is an issue, which furthers our
understanding that the current length may be
unappealing to audiences, which we are trying to
avoid.
Much like feedback sheet 2 this identifies that
aspects of the sound could be strengthened.
Although it is not specifically stated what sound in
particular, watching our trailer back with a strong
focus on sound allowed us to identify that certain
sound effects were slightly out of time or too quiet.
7. FEEDBACK SHEET 5
This feedback sheet is the first to highlight the
strength of the narrative. I can connote from this
that our dialogue and camera work are strong as
they are the main elements within our trailer which
portray the narrative to the audience.
This feedback does however highlight our sound as
a strength, which juxtaposes the other feedback
that we have received and so we have still focused o
sound as a weakness, as that is what the majority
believe.
8. FEEDBACK SHEET 6This feedback sheet highlights very similar
problems with the sound and length that
have been highlighted by others previously.
This person has highlighted that our trailer is
longer than a typical teaser trailer. As this is a
good point, we have in fact made our trailer
shorter for our final submission as we don’t
want to subvert topicalities too much.
This person has been the first person to
highlight that they didn’t like the titles.
However, through my quantitative research
from our previous draft I learnt that others
thought that the titles were relevant to the
narrative and so this weakness is not as
much of an issue as the sound and length of
the trailer and so those will be our main
focus’.
9. FEEDBACK SHEET 7
This strengths feedback sheet identifies many strengths
that have been highlighted by others already; editing,
camerawork and the acting.
Although this does not give us any new information, it
does tell me that these aspects must be very strong as
they have been bought up multiple times. It therefore
tells me that these features of our trailer do not need to
be changed.
