Convolution codes - Coding/Decoding Tree codes and Trellis codes for multiple...Madhumita Tamhane
In contrast to block codes, Convolution coding scheme has an information frame together with previous m information frames encoded into a single code word frame, hence coupling successive code word frames. Convolution codes are most important Tree codes that satisfy certain additional linearity and time invariance properties. Decoding procedure is mainly devoted to correcting errors in first frame. The effect of these information symbols on subsequent code word frames can be computed and subtracted from subsequent code word frames. Hence in spite of infinitely long code words, computations can be arranged so that the effect of earlier frames, properly decoded, on the current frame is zero.
This project will provides a detailed explanation about a smart traffic light controller using verilog code along with test bench and the working principle and simulation outputs are been attached.
Design of Elevator Controller using Verilog HDLVishesh Thakur
The aim of the project is to design and implement an Elevator/Lift Controller using Verilog hardware descriptive language (HDL). The Elevator Controller is a device used to control a lift motion and to indicate the direction of motion, and the present floor level, etc. The device controls the lift motion by means of accepting the floor level as input and generate control signals (for control the lift motion) as output. The elevator controller is based on the concept of finite state machine technology. According to the FSM technology the elevator process can be defined with the help of different states. In the FSM technology there is a change from one state to another state likewise in the elevator there will be a change from one floor to another. Every possible way is assigned a path and the implemented based on FSM concept to write the program code for elevator controller. The whole program is designed in such a way that there are desirable switches in each floor and also inside the elevator to control the user commands. While the elevator is in the ground level in order to go upward direction we need only the up switch and nothing else. The same procedure we follow for the top floor. There is only one down switch there to move downward. But in between the ground floor and top floor all other floors contain two switches, one for moving up and another for moving down. Inside the elevator there must be at least ‘n’ switches for the implementation of an ‘n’ floor elevator controller. The elevator will move according to the desirable input that is given by the user. The design includes a simple scheme that aims at a good speed of response without requiring any extra logic circuitry.
Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) is a device that converts an analog quantity (continuous voltage) to discrete digital values.
The PIC microcontroller can be used in various electronic devices like alarm systems, electronic gadgets and computer control systems.

Torque Production & Control of Speed in Synchronous Motor.
Speed of synchronous motors can be controlled using two methods called open loop and close loop control.
Open loop contol is the simplest scalar control method where motor speed is controlled by independent frequency control of the converter.
In case of close loop self control mode, instead of controlling the inverter frequency independentaly, the frequency and the phase of the output waveform are controlled by an absolute position encoder mounted on the machine shaft giving an account of position of the rotor.

1. Traffic Lights Controller
By -
Abhishek Jaisingh ( 14114002 )
A simple traffic light controller can be implemented by a state machine that has a state
diagram such as the one shown in Figure. Its state progresses according the value of the timer
used . When the value of timer reaches a specific value, the state of the system changes .
A set of 4 traffic lights have been designed for a 4 – way junction as shown.
The states are defined in terms of the output . Timer goes from 0 to 100 and then it is reset to
0. Each light is programmed to run as follows:
1. It is GREEN for 20 s.
2. Then it remains YELLOW for 5s.
During this time all other lights remain RED.
This process is continued for all the lights successively.
