Anthem Ayn Rand Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Anthem" by Ayn Rand can be both intellectually stimulating
and challenging. The novella delves into complex themes of individualism, collectivism, and the
nature of freedom. The challenge lies not only in comprehending Rand's philosophical ideas but
also in articulating a well-structured and coherent response.
To begin with, interpreting the nuances of Rand's objectivism requires a deep understanding of
her philosophical framework. This involves grappling with concepts like rational self-interest,
individual rights, and the rejection of collectivist ideologies. Unraveling these ideas and
presenting them in a clear, concise manner can be a daunting task for any writer.
Moreover, the narrative style of "Anthem" adds another layer of difficulty. The story is told from
the first-person perspective of the protagonist, and the language used is deliberately simple,
reflecting the oppressive nature of the society depicted in the novella. Balancing a sophisticated
analysis of the themes with the stark simplicity of the text can be a delicate tightrope walk.
Another challenge arises in connecting the philosophical aspects with real-world implications.
Rand's ideas, while thought-provoking, can be polarizing, and constructing a persuasive
argument requires careful consideration of counterarguments and the broader societal context.
Furthermore, finding a unique angle or fresh perspective to stand out among the multitude of
essays on the same topic adds an additional layer of complexity. Striking the right balance
between personal insight and adherence to academic conventions is crucial for creating an
engaging and scholarly essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Anthem" by Ayn Rand demands not only a comprehensive
understanding of her philosophy but also the ability to navigate the complexities of expression
and interpretation. It necessitates a thoughtful synthesis of ideas, a critical examination of the
text, and a skillful presentation of arguments. Despite its challenges, the process of exploring and
dissecting Rand's work can be intellectually rewarding for those willing to embark on this
literary journey.

Windows XP vs. Mac OS X Architecture
When looking at the interface of the Mac OS X Operating System and the Microsoft
Windows XP operating system many similarities can be seen. The most obvious is the
use of blue in the interface. In the core of the systems they both have a micro kernel
which addresses thread management, space management and other communications
at the system level and is more resistant to attacks from a virus.
Mac OS X is a powerful development platform; it supports multiple development
technologies like UNIX, Java, Cocoa and Carbon. It also is host to many open
source, web, scripting, database and development technologies. It was build around
the integrated stack of graphics and media technologies such as QuickTime, ... Show

Among the Aqua user interface, Apple also built in Pre emptive multitasking and
memory protection to improve the ability of the operating system to run multiple
applications simultaneously without interrupting or corrupting each other. The
system can also determine how much RAM should be used for each running
application and it can also determine how much of the processor needs to be devoted
to the running applications. For example if a picture is being rendered in Photoshop
in the background and a user is surfing the web in the foreground, the system will
automatically put more of the processors power to the Photoshop application to get
the requested job done.
Apple also wants as many developers as it can get for the Operating System;
therefore they have created development tools that are included with every copy of
the system. One of the most notable programs that is included is called Xcode.
Xcode provides interfaces to compilers that support several programming
languages such as C, C++ and Java. Because Apple is also in a transition from the
PowerPC RISC processor to the Intel X86 processor the Xcode application can
compile code for either or both processors, making the compiled application a
Universal Binary application.
Windows XP has a microkernel that sits between the Hardware Abstraction Layer and

Cellular Respiration
Respiration is defined as the process of taking air into the body. Cellular respiration
is much more complex. An organism consists of a single cell and even while a
humans body contain trillions, all cells undergo cellular respiration. It also is by this
process of breaking down food molecules which are simple sugars that produces the
energy currency of the cell, also known as Adenosine Triphosphate(ATP).
The way that photosynthesis works is by capturing light energy. This energy is
captured in chemical bonds, and meaning that plants use radiant energy to fix
molecules together. This is how plants provide their own nutrition from
carbondioxide, water, and minerals. Also as part of this process, oxygenis released in
the atmosphere which
Pros And Cons Of The Removal Of Confederate Monuments
The removal of the Confederate soldier monuments and memorials, such as the
Robert E. Lee statue, and the Confederate Soldiers Monument in Tampa, Florida are
sparking massive debates across the nation. Southern communities such as Virginia
and South Carolina are being pressured by citizens into removing the Confederate
monuments in the town square, claiming that the monuments are a brutal reminder of
America s history of slavery. Despite the monuments representation of American
history, this is a national debate. Inn some states this has emerged into a deadly
conflict in the streets, due to the violent protests and riots in the town square.
The Confederate soldier, Robert E. Lee, his statue was dedicated on May 21, 1924 at
the Gala of the Confederate Soldiers in Charlottesville, Virginia. The sponsor s
dedicated the monument to the lost cause (Dearstyne, Washington Post) of the Civil
War; to the valiant fight the Confederate Soldiers displayed while fighting for their
land, and way of life. The issue of slavery was carefully avoided during the
dedication speech. Furthermore, the Confederate Memorial in Tampa, Florida was
created in tribute to the Confederate soldiers who fought for their way of life, their
plantations, homes, and beloved land. This memorial was dedicated on February 9,
1911. The Robert E. Lee monument was commissioned by a businessman and
philanthropist named Paul Goodloe McIntire, who was born and raised in
Charlottesville, Virginia. McIntire also

Graphically Representing Data
Within a School Setting
Christopher M. Lightfoot Abstract
This paper examines the ability to graphically display frequency distribution tables
that are represented within a school setting. There are three types of data sets that are
interpreted within two types of frequency distribution tables (see Table 1). The first
type of data set that is mentioned is a discrete nominal data set that is graphically
displayed as a bar chart (see Figure 1), which displays the reoccurrence of each
category within the simple frequency table (see Table 2). The second data type
referenced is a discrete ordinal data set that was analyzed through a simple frequency
table. The simple frequency table allows for the conversion of the ordinal data into a
pie chart (see Figure 2), which measures the percentages within a four point Likert
Scale (see Table 3). The final data source is a continuous interval set, which was
interpreted through a cumulative frequency table (see table 4). The cumulative
frequency table is graphically represented in Figure 3 as a combination of a
histogram (which measures the percentage of class intervals) and scatter points (to
identify the cumulative percentage between all of the class intervals).

The creation of frequency distribution tables allows for the conversion of the data
within the set into a dramatic graphic representation. Research from the
The Wine And Food Pairings
This book represents decades of tasting, researching, studying personal development
and transformation and implementing all into my own life. Over the past few years, I
found the key to a delicious, fulfilling life is to fill it with luscious experiences,
beauty, style and action taking in the areas that are most important.
The wine and food pairings included in the book are from my own love of both and
time spent in the Sonoma, Willamette Valley and Italy wine regions for most of my
adult life. You will find most of the pairings come from these regions. However, I
am honored to also be featuring pairings from the experts: the winemakers and
winery owners themselves. You will love their stories and favorite pairings

Techniques With Language, The Cut Up Method And
Permutation
Brion Gysin created two techniques with language, the cut up method and
permutation. The cut up method involves cutting up a page into four sections,
rearrange said sections and then read the product. The rearrangement of the sections
in opposing places extracts new meaning to the text, an outlook that could not be
generated from a logical standpoint. A new found sense of surrealism is discovered in
something already familiar to us.
Surrealist artists of the era were advocating for an art of the unconscious mind. It is
by my affirmation that Brion Gysin s intention behind creating The Cut Up Method
was to show language could be used like a tool to extract new meaning, depending on
an individual s subconscious.

Raymond Bamhart Definition Of Ethics Essay
What is Ethics
Ethical behavior, an action a human may find challenging to balance in one s life.
One is encompassed with daily decisions to choose right from wrong. For example,
being late for work, one may decide to speed to get to work on time, knowing if
you re late for work again you could lose your job. So one may decide to get to
work on time, regardless of the consequences of possibly getting a ticket, causing an
accident and putting the lives of others in danger which could be one s worst
nightmare. How does one define ethics?
Raymond Baumhart, a sociologist gave insight on what Ethics means in his
viewpoint. He had mentioned that when feelings are put into the equation, it can have
drawbacks of doing what is morally correct. Also, putting Religion in an Ethical
review can undermine the one s that do not believe or have different beliefs.
Religion will give some people inner peace, and it may give the foundation to think
morally, but religion and ethics are not equivalent. Furthermore, laws are put into
place to maintain some structure of what is acceptable in the eyes of the law, ... Show

Having a foundation of supporting and morally correct role models will instill the
values to act with good intentions. Also, ethics to me is acts of kindness and
compassion. I strongly believe to treat others how you want to be treated. However,
there will always be situations where one will have to make the choice of choosing
one decision over the other to protect what you think is morally correct at the time.
For example, a doctor might think he has a medical moral obligation whereas the
family may override the Doctor s moral dilemma and deal with the consequences.
Some people may feel intimidated by one s status, but if one is taught strong values
at the beginning of life, deciding the right thing to do, may just be second nature to
Decisional Diction In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
Poetry Essay The Road Not Taken In the narrative poem, The Road Not Taken, Robert
Frost utilize literary devices to magnified the concept of decisional dilemma and
present a message on paths chosen in the course of life. Robert Frost implemented
strategic diction, sensory imagery, and figurative language that enhances the content
portrayed in the poem itself. The poem focus around the turmoil of the two roads the
speaker has to choose one being a commonly taken path and the other one isn t
commonly taken is filled with discomfort and unexpected nature . The speaker
eventually selected the route of uncertainty, yet it develops the notion of individuality
that opposes the influence of socially uniformed opinion. Forst s decision solidified
the concept that each individual possess the ability to form their own unique belief,
and take their future in their own hands. Robert Frost incorporates specific usage of
dictions throughout the poem to enhance meaning, while exerting his attitude in the
context of the literature. In the first line of The RoadNot Taken, the term diverged is
placed after Two roads to introduce the story at a location where the speaker is
faced with a decision. The term word diverge projects the image that the road is
separated with the results differ based on the route the speaker chooses. The
speaker responds with I could not travel both in line 2 of the poem. The term not in
this case elaborates on the fact that the speaker is unable to foresee the outcome of
both route. A significant component on why the speaker is apprehensive on
deciding which road he will ultimately take. Robert Frost incorporates an assonance
rhythm in each of his stanza with the last words of the first, third, and fourth lines
having the same ending syllable, as well as second and fourth line respectively. The
usage of an assonance in this poem represents the movement of each step that the
speaker takes as he progressively walk in the path of life he chooses.
Visual image of scenery enable the readers to merge with the environment and mental
state the speaker is currently experiencing within the realm of the literature. Frost
announce that he looked down one as far as I could in line 4 to one
The Informant s Language Of Spanish
The informant s language of Spanish can affect the grammar of English Acquisition.
For example, Part Four focused on phonetics. Distinguishing different languages by
using phonetics is important because it allows teachers to examine the differences
between the sounds of source and target languages and explain this difference to
learners. In Part Four, we noticed one of the dialectical differences between the
English language and the Spanish language. The difference is that the Spanish
language has accent marks in the letters. Accent marks are essential to how we
pronounce words. This was also shown in Part Six. While observing the translation
of sentences between Spanish and English, my partner and I noticed that some words
were changed in Spanish to include accent marks. Accent marks change the letter
sounds. They help to determine how a letter is supposed to sound in words. For
example, The white mouse at bread and crackers translates to El ratГіn blanco comiГі
pan y galletas . Another dialectic difference that we came across was the different
alphabet. The Spanish alphabet contains letters that the English alphabet does not
such as: ch, ll, Г±, and rr. Lastly, the Spanish language also appears to have a shorter
sentence stress than the English language. Our informant said the words in her native
language and during that time she did not elongate the vowels instead, she said them
rapidly. In addition to how Spanish Grammar could affect English acquisition,

Compare and Contrast The Two Poems
Island Man and The Fringe Of The Sea
I recently read two poems entitled Island Man and The Fringe Of The Sea . They
are both similar in theme, but they also have many differences. Both poems are
based on the emotions of people who live near the sea and their feelings towards it.
This theme relates to both of the authors, and connects them; the author of The
Fringe Of The Sea , A.L. Hendricks, was born in Jamaica and later in life moved to
Britain. Grace Nichols, author of Island Man , was born in Ghana and then also
immigrated to the UK.
Grace Nichols poem Island Man is about a Caribbean man who lives in London, but
still longs for his home and the sea. The poem follows the man as he wakes ... Show

These lines use enjambment for the effect of the lines flowing into each other to
make it seems like the sea. The first half flows smoothly, as does the second half,
except for the final word. The letter S is used in both halves to bring them together
to remind the readers of Islands Man closeness to the sea. The letter H ( head ) is a
break from the S s and therefore the rhythm is lost. The third line ( to the sound of
blue surf ) has alliteration of the letter S . The sound of this letter is very much like
that of the waves to remind the reader of the sea. To insure that this comes across to
the readers there is emphasis on these letters. There is also an emphasis on the word
head here to make the readers realize that it is only in Island Man s head, as he also
realizes the truth.
The fourth line uses two verbs, which have internal rhyme to make the line flow
easier (breaking and wombing). The first verb breaking suggests the repetitive and
steady breaking of the waves on the Caribbean sands. More evidence of this meaning
the waves is the fact that the line says the steady breaking and wombing which
clearly illustrates the waves motion. The second verb wombing is derived from the
word womb ; therefore this connotes warmth, maternal love and family. Island Man
would connect all of these with his home, and he would connect
The Key Verses And Passages That Tell Us More
Introduction Many people, especially Christians know of the book of John for its
famous verse found in chapter 3 verse 16, For God so loved the world that he gave
His only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have
eternal life (NIB, Pg.1912). But there is far more to the fourth Gospelthat gives us an
in depth culture of people known as the Johannine Community.
Thesis In order to better understand the Fourth Gospel in the Holy Scriptures, I am
going to first give a brief description of the authorship, setting, and date in which
this was said to have been written. Second, I will explain the purpose or context in
which this gospel was written. Third, I will discuss key verses and passages that tell
us more in depth about Jesus. Last and finally, I will my own questions, thoughts, and
observation of the Gospel of John. Last and finally.
Background When discussing the time period in which this piece was actually
written, it is important to understand that it was written before the epistles.
According to many scholars such as Charles H. Talbert, the book of John was
written either after or around the same time as the letters 1, 2, 3 of John (Talbert,
pg.4). According to Talbert, the text cannot be dated much later than 100 AD. There
are fragments from Chapter 18:31 33 that seem to be dated back to as early as
second century, or 125 AD (Talbert, Pg. 1917). When it comes to the authorship of
the text, it is also said to be unknown, although
Pollution In Air Pollution
Demolition and Construction sites are bad when it comes to the control of
particulates causing an increase in air pollution. The particulates can be emitted by
the process of knocking down or disturbing the building letting the particulate free
and get into the air reducing the quality. If the workers do not manage what they are
doing correctly, it can have harmful impacts on not only their health but the
communities and the environment. At times enforcing the laws and good practice
can be expensive and very disruptive. The legislation includes things like Identifying
activities that create pollution, Environmental risk assessment, selecting low
emission materials and getting the right training and using the proper methods. But
what is classified as particulates and what are they? They can be very broad but
things such as Dustand asbestos from knocking buildings down that can float away
causing harm to the environment, and people s health, motor vehicle emissions and
smoke from power tools also can have a significant impact.
There are many ways in which emissions can be controlled including things such as
Demolition workers can Water down the building as they are knocking it down to
weigh down the particulates. Using the water to weigh down particualtes can be
harmfull, as if the workers use to much water to weigh down this particualtes it can
cause run off. This run off can end up in the river sytems and throw this way the
particualtes can polute and cause harm to the enviroment and the animals in th
eater. Workers can also time it to the wind, i.e. on windy days don t do work that
will cause a lot of particulates to float around. They can even be aware of the
environment in which they are working in and know the restrictions and the history
s (mainly for older homes) of other houses to get a broader idea if the particulates
cause more harm than a newer house might. For things such as Sanding, grinding
and welding the workers can also use water to weigh down the particulates or use a
type of grad method to trap the particulates. There are many more methods to
different kinds of activities that may occur, but they are all mainly using the same
type of techniques.
But on the other hand, implementing these
The Pros And Cons Of George Washington
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price,
bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe in order to
assure the survival and the success of liberty (Kennedy 1). In the words of Kennedy,
as Americans we will do anything to ensure our liberty. This brings up a good
question to how America was really founded. There are a lot of people and events that
went into the foundation of America, but two of the most important are George
Washington and the Constitution. Both worked hand in hand in order to give us the
America we know and love today. George Washington made it possible that America
could be created. George Washington was not very well educated, according to an
article called George Washington s Education, George Washington s level of
education was far lower than any of the other Founding Fathers of the United States.
In fact, he was often scorned by some of the other Founding Fathers for this
inadequacy. George Washington was not the most intelligent person but according to
the article, even more importantly, though, his seemingly humble, controlled, and
respectful demeanor won the hearts of the American people and established him as a
national icon. Even though George Washington wasn t very well educated, he was
humble, controlled, and respectful. This was necessary to produce a good figure for
America. Americans needed someone to look to. This created a foundation for the
constitution. They

Celebrities reflect the modern society, transfer their associated qualities to the brand
and project a living, breathing image to the product as opposed to a faceless entity.
This triggers a chain of social influence which allows the consumers to be in accord
instantly with the communicated attitude.
As discussed by Kelman (1961), the basis for the effectiveness of celebrity endorsed
advertising can be linked to this process of identification and internalization of the
desired behaviour. Price of fame may be high for the celebrity endorsed brands but
they have both what the markets and the everyday common man want attention,
power and star sizzle.
In the same breath, the theoretical model hierarchy of effects suggests that for a
purchase to take place, the consumer must be first aware of the product, then
inculcate a liking towards it, and finally develop an intention to acquire it. This
ascension is catalysed by celebrity presence during brand promotion. Be it Rajnikant
making a demographic connection or the new avatar of Amitabh Bachchan forging a
psychological attachment, they carry a mass appeal and establish instant brand
credibility while adopting a subtle persuasive approach. It is presumed that a
personality s dynamic qualities of attractiveness, likeability and appeal are
superimposed on the brand image and lead it to acceptance by their fans and the
general mass.

Effects Of Beauty On African American Women
The Different Shades of Beauty
What is beauty? Is it determined by your body structure? Is it assessed by your skin
color? Women of African American descent struggle with concepts of beauty based
on complexion dark skin or light skin. Colorism is discrimination against people
based on skin color and it affects the African Americanwomen with regards to self
esteem and self acceptance. Both the book, Don t Play in the Sun, by author, Marita
Golden, and the documentary, Dark Girls, directed by Bill Duke and D. Channsin
Berry, highlight how these concepts of beauty affect African American women. In
this essay, I will compare and contrast the African American men and women
perspectives of beauty based on skin color, personal preferences and hair.... Show

Most people believe that a light skinned woman is the ideal. Thus, Golden writes,
Light skinned is demonized and idolized (120). Lighter skinned women are believed
to exude sensuality and sexuality which are considered elements of beauty.
Likewise, a lady explains her mother s disappointment in her skin color when she
overhears a conversation. She recalls her mother s comments, Could you imagine if
she had light skin at all? [With her features] she d be gorgeous (Dark Girls). This
shows the extent to which the color complex affected the minds of most people
including mothers the way they viewed their children. Both the book and the film
show how colorism affected notions of beauty within the African American
Cell Phones Are The Most Powerful Invention Ever
Cell phones are undoubtedly the most powerful invention ever comprised. They
enable us to talk to a friend on the other side of the country, check Facebook to stalk
our crush, and even watch the live Seahawks game airing in Minnesota all at the
touch of our fingers. But, that s not all. The possibilities with cell phones are endless.
To say that these small handheld devices are just powerful is an understatement. Cell
phones are autocratic. Many say that they control the lives of all owners. Having your
cell phone with you often gives you this sense of comfort, but the moment you drop,
forget or, God forbid, lose your device, a sense of terror and distress haunts you.
However, cell phones have this connotation that they seclude an individual, making
them feel alone and disconnected from society. More than ever before, younger
children are often seen with cell phones at their hands. So what s the effect of
technology on children? While cell phones may further imagination and creativity,
Cris Rowan, a pediatric therapist and author of The Impact of Technology on the
Developing Child, insists that technology, especially entertainment technology such
as cell phones, video games and the internet, actually inhibits a child s development,
cognitively, emotionally, and psychologically. As an article in HuffPost Parents, a

Women’s New Role Essay
Women s New Role
In coming to understand what it meant to be a girl I was affected by my era,
women s sports, and the place that I was raised, as much as the independent
feminist spirit that my mom was exposed to and possessed. My mother s mom
raised her to believe and accept the traditional female role. My grandmother put
emphasis on the women staying home and existing solely as a support system for
the man. She found comfort and security knowing that it was the man s burden to
bring home the bacon. My mother, however; was influenced by the time and took it
upon herself to take care of herself and make her own money. At a young ageshe

With these independent values and the new women role models I had in sports, I
learned to be confident in the choices that I made and that I could make something
with my life with my athletic endeavors.
Growing up I was the first generation of girls to have women role models in sports.
For the first time I could watch a person of the same sex compete and succeed. In
1986 I was able to watch the US Women s Soccer National Team take home the first
gold metal in the sport of soccer. I watched these women that had a dream to play
and they made their respective dreams come true. In Mia Hamm s book she talked
about how the game of soccer to her was ultimate release and passion for her. Her
father allowed her to play with the boys and thought that this competitive spirit that
his daughter possessed was harmless and healthy (Mia 45). Little did he know that
his daughter would start a revolution that no man saw coming. These tom boys who
thought that they were the only girls playing sports opened up a whole new field of
work, and broke through one of the toughest gender stereotypes known to woman.
Success in women s soccer, and even the development of the professional league,
along with new opportunities that arose with title 9,in which colleges were forced to
produce an equal number of scholarships for women have contributed to my
committed efforts to succeed and play at the highest level. Although, today I can see

the snacks. Unfortunately, his innocent trip to the grocery store was about to take a
terrifying turn.

I.INTRODUCTION
Energy demands are on the rise across the world and in many modernized countries
the push for renewable energy is rising. Two of the main renewable energy sources
that are getting a lot of attention are wind and solar. One of the difficulties presented
with some renewable energy sources are their inherent inconsistency. Wind
intensities change from hour to hour and from one season to the next. Solar
radiation can be strong one minute and be nearly blocked out the next by a cloud.
To make renewable energy more reliable and coincide with strict utility standards the
use of power electronics is needed. The advancement in power electronics has also
greatly improved in efficiency and allows more energy to be captured by natural
resources. Another difficulty with
Life-Span Development
After reviewing the two articles provided and studies of my proposed topic, there
was no evidence of the theoretical and conceptual frameworks in six of my studies.
However, there is one theoretical framework in my quantitative study that focuses on
the individual and is grounded within the context of the life span perspective of
human developmenttheory. Contextual influences include the types of changes in
resources that occur in response to the individual s needs for resources throughout a
changing life span. Life span development involves biological considerations, cultural
considerations, and individual factors working together. The life span perspective put
emphasis on the development of the course of a lifetime, and all stages of the
The Effects Of Stress On The Workplace
Life is full of frustrations, deadlines, and demands. Stress isn t always bad, many
times it can help people while they are performing under pressure since it will
motivate them to do their best. Scientists use the term stress to refer to any force that
impairs the balance of bodily functions. From this definition, the definition of job
stresswas formed. Job stress can be defined as the harmful physical and emotional
responses that occur when the requirements of the job do not match the needs of the
worker. When stress begins to become overwhelming it can cause damage in
relationships, health, and quality of life. People can protect themselves by
recognizing the symptoms of stress. Numerous studies have shown that job stress is

When a person faces any danger the nervous system will automatically send a
signal to the brain that makes all body functions want to flee away; known as flight
or flee reaction. This stage is known as the alarm stage and this type of stress can be
due to an actual event such as an accident. The alarm stage gives people extra
strength to defend themselves. However, staying in the alarm stage can lead to the
second phase of stress known as resistance. During this stage the body tends to get
tense, tired, along with a weaker immune system. People will begin smoking and
drinking to come out of the stress. The reactions to this phase are anxiety, memory
loss, overreacting, and depression. When stress continues beyond the second stage
then exhaustion will settle in. During this phase the adaptive mechanisms will
collapse and there are many extreme complications that will result if this phase
continues (Stages of Stress). Stress that occurs in the workplace is normal, however
excessive stress can interfere with productivity and emotional health. People can t
always control everything in their work environment and many people are often
stuck in tough situations. Any job can be stressful and in the short term people may
experience pressure to meet a deadline or to complete a task. There are four types of
stress that occur at work and they include: Time stress, anticipatory stress, situational
stress, and encounter stress. Time stress is when

So many people have tried to explain how life should be viewed, yet in my mind no
one has gotten in quite right. To me there are only two ways to articulate how we
live our own personal lives. These two choices are life as a run, and life as a race;
depending on which you choose it can drastically change the way you perceive life
as a whole. Each person, as an individual, has their own choiceon how they view their
personal life; however, they should know the differences between the two. How most
people have been raised in today s time, or raised as a millennial, have been told to

Today the war on drugs has made it difficult to determine what is legal and illegal.
Depending on the drug and the wording of drug policy legislation, narcotics are

Walt Disney is a well known name in today s society. Walt Disney once stated, You
can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world but it
requires people to make the dream a reality (Sparks, 2007). Marty Sklar, Vice
Chairman and principal creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering was quoted
as saying, From the beginning, starting with Walt Disney, we have had five tings that
make me proud to be a part of this company: high quality, products, optimism for the

One way Disney utilizes the communication from its employees is by using a 120
questions survey about management performance. These surveys convey if the is
effective communication between management and employees. After the surveys are
completed, staff meetings are held to discuss staff concerns and resolutions are
discussed. These meetings are usually held within three weeks to show employees
that Disney is concerned about the welfare of their employees and to help satisfy
them. Walt Disney Company believes that every cast member and staff have valuable
information that can be shared through ongoing communication efforts. As we can
see, communication is as important as the company s values are (Sparks, 2007). As
with any company, strong beliefs, values and communication are needed in order for
a company to succeed. Founded in 1923, the Walt Disney Company has maintained
these strong beliefs, values and communication needed to ensure its success today.
The success in employee training with the Disney Institute has led to other companies
seeking their help (Sparks, 2007). This just strengthens the fact that Walt Disney
Company has never wavered from its mission to be one of the world s leading
producers and providers of entertainment.

Canadian Civilian Gun Ownership Regulations
It will go down in history as the day Canadians stopped feeling so safe. In the early
hours of the morning on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, Michael Zehaf Bibeau, a 32
year old Canadian born Islam convert, fatally shot a soldier with a hunting rifle at the
National War Memorial in Ottawa before opening fire at nearby Parliament Hill.
Gunfire echoed through the hallowed halls of the Centre Block just inches away
from where the Canadian government was preparing to debate legislation that would
relax gun control regulations. This tragic incident has unsurprisingly ignited debate
about gun control laws in Canada, and sparked questions about the country s
supposed culture of safety and openness. While relatively rare in Canada, historical...

In addition, Bill C 150 made it illegal for criminals and the mentally unstable to
possess guns. In 1977, the House of Commons passed Bill C 51, establishing new
kinds of gun ownership permits called firearms acquisition certificates, which
increased barriers to access by requiring applicants to pass background checks. The
movement for stronger and more effective gun control was reinvigorated a decade
later in the aftermath of the worst shooting incident in Canadian history: the
Montreal Massacre. On December 6, 1989, twenty five year old Marc LГ©pine took
a sixty student engineering classroom hostage at Г‰cole Polytechnique with a

allowed fifty male students to safely exit the room before turning his gun on the
remaining nine women, killing six and wounding three. LГ©pine then continued his
carnage in the school s corridors, cafeteria, classrooms and offices, killing fourteen
women in total and injuring another fourteen people, including four men. Over the
next few years, public appeals for stricter gun control regulations grew increasingly
forceful, culminating in the 1995 Firearms Act, or Bill C 68. The Firearms Act
codified Canada s gun control laws as they exist today. Specifically, it implemented a
new federal licensing system, mandated the registration of all

The Sequence Of Target Messenger Rna
MicroRNAs (miRNA) are small noncoding RNA, usually 17 25 nucleotides long
that are able to bind complementary sequences of target messenger RNA (mRNA)
and to induce both their degradation and translational repression (Fortunato, et al
2014). They are one of the most significant classes of non coding RNA molecules
(eg. small interfering RNA (siRNA) and ribozymes) that act within the cell.
MiRNAs are also evolutionary conserved in different species from plants to
humans and are encoded by their respective genes (Bader, 2012). Structurally,
miRNAs are initially transcribed from the genome as a long primary transcript that
are cleaved or undergoes sequential processing by the RNAse III endonucleases
Drosha and Dicer to yield the 17 23 mature nucleotide species (Kim, 2005). Mature
miRNAs enters the RNA induced silencing complex (RISC), thus a multiprotein
complex that separate the mature strand from passenger strand and assists the
interaction of mRNAs with miRNA that contain complementary sequences (Bader,
2012). As a result, mRNAs targeted by miRNA loads are either degraded or
silenced in order not to be translated into protein. In the genome, a given miRNA can
regulate several hundred transcripts whose molecules function within various cellular
pathways including cell proliferation and apoptosis. To date, more than 50% of the
activities of all protein coding genes in mammals are controlled by miRNAs and
greatly contributes to cell type specific profiles of protein expression
Why We Should Have Sports In College
Sports play a huge role in our lives. Everyone enjoys a sport in their own different
ways: some do sports and others are just happy to watch it. Giving students
opportunity to be part of sports in college will definitely have positive sides on
college as well as on students. As an example, we can see how top colleges like
Harvard or Stanford recruit young athletes. At the end, those athletes are making
names for the schools. However, in our collegesituation is totally different. Even if
we have established sports, they are not aimed to improve our college. However, we
can reconstruct athletics of our school, and it will positively affect students, college,
and it s budget. It is not rare that people become very successful thanks to sports.
Insulate Your Pipe
If you want to prevent water damage to your home this winter, you need to be
proactive. Here are four easy steps you can take to prevent water damage to your
home this winter.
#1 Insulate Your Pipes
The first thing you need to do is make sure that all your pipes are well insulated.
This will help keep your pipes warm even during the coldest days of the month. It is
relatively easy to insulate your pipes. You just need to purchase pipe insulation from
your local hardware store. It should slip right over your pipes and you can then wrap
your pipes with insulation tape.
#2 Keep Your HomeWarm
Insulating your pipes is not the only way to protect them. You can also protect them
by keeping your home warm. While you are away from your home for work, keep
your heat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can easily purchase hot water heater insulation kits from your local hardware
store, or you can have your HVAC technician install it. Basically, the kit should
include an insulated blanket that wraps around your hot water heater and is taped in
place.
Insulating your water heater will help ensure that your water heater stays warm and
leak free.
#4 Clean Your Gutters
Another way that water gets into your house is through your roof. You can prevent
leaks from developing by keeping your gutters clear of debris. When debris
accumulates in your gutters, it can cause water to get back up, which can lead to
water damage inside of your home.
#5 Move The Snow Away From Your House
Finally, if you live somewhere that gets a significant amount of snow during the
winter months, you need to move the snow away from your house before it starts to
melt. You should shovel and remove all the snow so there is at least a three to five
feet buffer in between your house and the snow.
Removing the snow that is piled up against your house will prevent the snow from
melting and flooding your basement or the lower levels of your

students change their own behaviors to desired ones. Criterion specific rewards
could help Zach and Patrick, because when each student demonstrates one of their
desired goal behaviors, he would receive a reward. Group contingency could work

Friend Z s success has sparked the interest of its partners to take their small business

The Importance Of Heart Disease
Your heart is one of the most important organs in your body. However, there are
certain things that can damage your heart and cause the heart muscle and tissue to
die. Heart disease is one of the main causes. There are many different types of heart
disease, but one that happens most often is coronary artery disease (https:/
/www.nhlbi.nih.gov). This happens when there is a block in the coronary arteries,
which are spider leg like blood vessels that cause the cardiac cells to quit receiving
oxygen and nutrients and leads to a heartattack. For heart tissue to live, there needs
to be oxygen in the blood stream, but when oxygen is not present, the heart tissue
will die. Since heart disease kills more men and women than any other disease,
people working in the field of regenerative medicine have been trying to find a way
to repair or replace damaged tissue. At least two different paths of research are
helping with these efforts. One of these research paths uses information we already
know about stem cells outside of the organism and our understanding of gene
expression in the body to help guide cells toward certain outcomes. The other path
explains tissue regeneration by observing certain organisms that repair or regenerate
damaged tissue naturally (Major, 1).
Many studies have shown that the same genetic markers found in the development of
hearts in embryos are the same markers used to recognize the embryonic like stem
cells in the adult heart. Stem cells are cells that do not

The Evolution of the Meaning of Life
The complex idea of the meaning of life came to be first through the Hindu
teachings. The four main purposes of life are Dharma meaning to act virtuously and
righteously. Artha means the prosperity and successfulness in one s life. Kama
being the concept of whatever action a person makes, they will receive the same
back. Moksha is the proceeding of a spirit into another being according to their past
life.
Following the Hindus, then came the Dao teachings of life, using the five
elements earth, wind, fire, water, and air for fulfilling one s personal goal in
accomplishing a successful life. Through the use of the elements, Daoists have
found certain rules of nature that are shown in our human existence. Because of
the elements, our lives are constantly affected by outside forces and by nature
itself. Therefore knowledge of the principles of nature will help a person move
from being troubled by outside forces to being led by the natural inside forces that
are centered in peace beyond outside forces. By following Tao, or the way, one must
mentally teach oneself the capabilities of being successful in life on Earth. Tao is
not a god but more of a way or self encouragement type of movement.
The meaning of life in Confucianism is to follow the ways of Confucius to achieve
your personal goal. Confucius believed that Tien Ming was that all living things are
under the ultimate control

Bullying Stance Essay
Bullying Stance As a worldwide concern holds many people victim for

Bullying, the repeated attack on a person either verbally or physically with
intention has changed the way we look at people in the twenty first century. With a
whopping, one out of four people affected by this cause, we must find a way for it
to be abolished and erased from all existence. The Bully movie has given me insight
and perspective from this horrific occurrence, and has shaped the way I think about
this phenomenon for many years to come. At one time in our country, bullyingwas in

Broederlam s Triptych Of The Virgin
The Dijon Altarpiece painted by Broederlam was commissioned by Phillip the bold

s Triptych of the Virgin are similar to Rogier Van der Weyden s composition. As
altarpieces they are intended as prayer aids the Dijon Altarpiece specifically for the
Carthusian monks. The subject matter of both pieces are almost identical. They both
start with an annunciation scene, a visitation scene, and then the last two scenes
differ on each painting. Broederlam s last two scenes are the presentation of Jesusand
the flight to Egypt and Bout s are the nativity and the adoration of the Magi. The
paintings use the same biblical stories with almost identical poses in the annunciation,

Dorothy and the engraving of Master E.S. Large Virgin of Einsiedeln made it
possible for all people of different status to own art. It wasn t just for the wealthy
anymore. Images were popular because the masses were mostly illiterate.
woodcuts were carved on blocks of wood to produce an image. Artists had to think
in reverse and in a subtractive method. when printed the carved areas stayed white
and the raised areas took the ink. images produced in this method tended to be flat
and one dimensional. Simple and heavy lines were probably the easiest to carve
and ornamental patterns were common. The engraving process is similar but with
finer tools like a burin to get smaller details, Master E. S. made use of crosshatching
to create shading and he improved upon the way human figures look, his prints were
full of detail especially this particular print since it was the most expensive of the set
for the church. All prints were made for the masses but engraving gave prints finer
The Simpsons is America s Household Essay
The Simpsons is America s Household Television shows such as The Simpson s
portray the deterioration of families in our society. From the outside they appear to
be the typical nuclear family consisting of a mother, father, and three children that
live in Springfield, which is basically Anytown, U.S.A., but as most families today
The Simpson s have their own problems. Marge and Homer are the quintessential
American couple. Homer is a blue collared worker, who spends more time eating
doughnuts than paying attention to being in charge of safety at the local nuclear
power plant, and has been married to Marge since they graduated high school. He is
notorious for spending his evenings at Moe s, a local tavern, consuming obscene

This coupon clipping mom ignores the faults in her rebellious son and drunken
husband. She may sound like her only weakness is being naive, but she has also
made her mistakes in the marriage. In one episode Marge almost had an affair with
her bowling instructor and deserted her family every night to go see him. Since, this
is a lighthearted show she didn t go through with the adulterous deed, but it shows us
that even Marge is fallible. (http://www.snpp.com) Marge and Homer may be
unorthodox parents, but their children do not seem to be much different. Bart is the
oldest of the Simpson children; at ten years old this boy has gotten in himself into
more predicaments and mischief than most children even dream of. He has done
everything from cutting off the head of the town s beloved Jebediah Springfield
statue to getting the United States in diplomatic discord with Australia. His rebellion
is considered harmless boys will be boys behavior, and never treated as the
potentially dangerous conduct he demonstrates. Whether his actions are out of a need
for attention from his neurotic mother or to rebel against the angst he has toward his
inebriated father, the community around him is the one that suffers from his
delinquency. Though Bart may be the product of his environment, Lisa, his seven
year old sister, seems to have come out of this situation with a remarkable amount of
morale and intellect. She excels in school and playing the saxophone despite her
Medical Abbreviations
Introduction
The competency project consisted of case studies. In these case studies you also
had a list of terms. The terms were to be analyzed by dividing them into three
component parts. Most medical terms are made up of three things. The prefix, root
and suffix. There are some medical terms that do not have all three components.
Each term was to be broken down and then defined. Also you were to build one new
medical term from the terms that were on that specific case study. And the last thing
you had to do was define the abbreviation for each case study which had two.
A.Most medical terms are made up of a prefix, root and a suffix. Prefix is the
beginning of the term. The root is the foundation and the suffix is the end of the term.

It is very important in the medical field to know both written and oral communication
with patients and other healthcare professionals. Good communication skills doesn t
mean just talking it also means to listen. Verbal communication is applicable to a
wide range of situations, ranging from informal office discussions to public speeches
made to thousands of people. Oral communications is really important when talking
with patients. They need to understand what you are telling them, they need to know
what is going on. It will help you to know why the patients are in the hospital. Also
how and for what they are being treated. Knowing written skills is also very
important. You will need to be able to communicate with other professionals in your
fields. If you maybe can t talk to them face to face writing down the information that
you need them to understand is very important. It will benefit you, the patients, and
coworkers if you know how to communicate
Vulnerability Assessment ( Va )
1.Introduction
Security is a standout amongst the most difficult and complex issue in Information
Technology (IT) today. Security causes millions of dollars loss to the different
organizations every year. Even if 99% of all assaults result from known
vulnerabilities and flawed misconfigurations, an answer is most certainly not direct.
With a crowd of networks, operating system and application related vulnerabilities,
security specialists are getting the opportunity to be logically aware of the need to
review and direct potential security dangers on their network and systems. This
requires a more effective and insightful way to deal with sustaining the project.
Vulnerability Assessment (VA) is the procedure of identifying, quantifying, measuring
and organizing dangers connected with system and host based network to reduce its
risk to the system. Vulnerability Assessment (VA) tools permit customization of
security strategy, computerized examination of vulnerabilities, and formation of
reports that helps to discover security vulnerability.
Network around the world is connected through various hardware and application.
Different types of connections are used to connect network around the world. Many
organizations and companies are using different types of network connected to the
internet to flourish their business related activities. Network is mainly categorized
into three forms: LAN, MAN and WAN. All these network are connected together to
make an entire huge network around
The Harmful Effects of Advertising on Society
In today s society many people see advertising as harmful in many different ways.
With today s society image is everything, and advertising uses this to their
advantage. Advertising uses this as a way to make insecure people buy products
they do not need. Many advertisements that are seen today on television, billboards,
newspaper, and magazines are indeed harmful to our eyes and brain. Many of them
make people feel like crap, that you don t have this car or that house or that body.
Advertisingis harmful to society because of its limitations on women, it s fostering of
insecurity, and its promotion of materialism/consumerism. Advertisement is harmful
to society because it limits women. Women in today s society are under a lot of...

When a company is going into an unstable market their chances of successes are
slim. Jib Fowls says ...Create ads more and more in the image of the audience
motives and desires (Fowls 540). This means that when creating an advertisement
the goal is not to offend people it s to inspire them to do more. Inside of
advertisement people take it the wrong way then what the creator of it was going
for. Advertising is a way to communicate with the potential customer, but is bad for
society. Advertising is bad for society because it makes people think less of
themselves. When kilbourne says There is no doubt that flagrant sexism and sex
role stereotypes abound in all forms of the media (Kilbourne 478). This meaning
that the way the media advertises is a reason for eating disorders or alcoholism.
Both of those are harmful to people and society. When Steinem says It s a difficult
art, How many new adjectives can you find? How much greater can you make a
lipstick sound? (Steinem 150). This meaning that when advertising they try to find
different ways to say something to trick someone into buy a product that is not
needed. Having people being tricked into buying products that are not need is bad
for society. Some people say advertising is good because it helps shape the market,
but advertising is harmful to society because of it set restrictions on women.

The Harlem Renaissance
Over the course of time, many different movements have occurred. The most
influential types have ranged from revolutionary movements to feminism. These
movements have changed the course of society and kept a different outlook on new
ideas. A very important idea that needed to be stressed was the freedom of African
Americans. For so long they were slaves and treated extremely poorly. Eventually,
they became free people. However, they were still not viewed as equal. It took many
years to move even one step in the right direction. A specific movement did help the
African America appear independent and equal. One of the most influential
movements and still occurring to this day is the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem
Renaissance is the cultural movement of the 1920 s. The movement essentially
kindled a new black cultural identity through art, literature and intellect. The Harlem
Renaissance started during the Roaring Twenties. It took place in Harlem, New York.
It became most prominent in the mid to late 1920 s and it diminished toward the
early 1930 s (Henderson). The Harlem Renaissance was initially called the New
Negro Movement or the New Negro Renaissance. It was the result of numerous
components, including the Great Migration. After World War I, countless African
Americans left the country South for urban communities of the North looking for
better employment and a more tolerant environment. By 1918, Harlem, New York
had the highest number of black peopleon the planet,

Markowitz Portfolio Optimization
Report Introduction Markowitz (1952, 1956) pioneered the development of a
quantitative method that takes the diversification benefits of portfolio allocation into
account. Modern portfolio theory is the result of his work on portfolio optimization.
Ideally, in a mean variance optimization model, the complete investment opportunity
set, i.e. all assets, should be considered simultaneously. However, in practice, most
investors distinguish between different asset classes within their portfolio allocation
frameworks. In our analysis, we view the process of asset allocation as a four step
exercise like Bodie, Kane and Marcus (2005). It consists of choosing the asset classes
under consideration, moving forward to establishing capital market... Show more

Would you please explain (using the set of results for 3.5% risk free rate)? This
entails an analysis of the economic conditions for different periods. The most
important insight we get is that in a diversified portfolio, the contribution to
portfolio risk of a particular security will depend on the covariance of that security
s return with those of other securities. If you see the correlation matrix for the 2
sub periods, we can see that the economic wide risk factors have imparted positive
correlations among the stock returns for Sub Period 2 (03 10). This was the time
of economic crisis (08 10) and since most of the risk was economic, the optimal
portfolio incorporates less risky assets. While the sub period 1 (95 03) went through
a healthy growth period, had mostly firm specific risk and lesser economic risk. c)
The CIO wants to propose investment limits on certain asset classes to the IPC for
consideration, but the CIO may not be aware of the likely impact on the performance
of the Fund. Since you have run some analysis above based on the proposed limits,
present your analysis and make a recommendation regarding investment limits for the
historical arithmetic average (target) return and the 6% p.a. target return. The
fundamental concept behind MPT is that the assets in an investment portfolio should
not be selected individually, each on their own merits. Rather, it is important to
consider how each asset changes

Air Safety Essay
How Safety Management Systems Can Make Aviation Safer
Commercial aviation already has a safety record, which every other mode of public
transport would be proud. In both 2014 and 2015, according to the past two annual
editions of the annual ICAO Safety Report, programmed which probably or certainly
stemmed from intentional acts resulted in more victim in crashes of commercial
aircraft with certificated maximum take off weights of more than 5,700kg than did
accidents.
Meanwhile, the rate of accidents fatal and non fatal alike in 2015 attaching
scheduled operations of such aircraft reduced 7 per cent from 2014, from 3.0 to 2.8
accidents per million departures. In all chance, this was the lowest annual accident

Such providers include aircraft fullers, caterers, baggage handlers and other aviation
ground handling companies.
SMSs are of key importance because they work in four ways to handle aviation safety
and its development. Now, they establish organisational structures by which aviation
organisations can establish safety policies and responsibility including creating
normal safety management oversight roles and hiring educated, experienced
personnel to fill them.
Second, SMSs formalise the management of safety risks by guide with procedures
and processes for find potential and actual problems, determine safety risks and then
reduce them. Reduction is performed by reporting of safety risks and taking active
or passive measures to reduce each risk to a reasonable level and potentially
removing risks totally.
The third role of SMSs is to provide guarantee that safety is being maintained. Each
aviation group s SMS does this by making benchmarks of safety measurement and
monitoring the firm s safety performance to conform its safety performance continues
to meet these benchmarks.
If its safety performance does not continue to meet the organisation has produced
benchmarks, then previously established formal procedures are put into effect to
bring the organisation s safety performance back up to the given standards.

Personal Boundaries
Boundaries in a person s life are very crucial. Many people live their life day to day
with no boundaries. Individuals might see others and think that nothing is wrong
with that individual, but deep down inside, those people are beyond broken. This is
a quote by Edgar Allan Poe, The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at
best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other
begins? This quote means that individuals can set boundaries all they want, but
people are soon to forget about those boundaries that they set. People go back into
their old habits of not having boundaries and do whatever they feel like. Individuals
should start standing up for what they believe in, not care about the world, and the
judgment that others will receive. Boundaries that I need to set in my life are anxiety
problems, spiritual, and friendship boundaries. Anxiety... Show more content on

Individuals want to be able to do whatever they want, but God sees everything we
do and individuals need to stand up and do what is right. In Matthew 5:28, it says
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed
adultery with her in his heart. This verse is telling individuals that when a man
looks at a woman in a sexual way that is not his wife, he has committed adultery.
People need to set spiritual boundaries for themselves and follow the Lord s
commandments. I need to make smart decisions and not follow worldly values. If I
follow worldly values, then I would be a messed up person. In the book Boundaries ,
it says But if we do our work, and God does his, we will find strength in a real
relationship with our Creator. This quote is saying that if we do our work here on
earth and God does his in heaven, then we will have a more strong relationship. My
life would be different if I stopped caring about everyone else around me and live for
the Lord like He has called me

Anthem Ayn Rand Essay. Book quot;Anthemquot; by Ayn Rand Review Free Essay Sample on Samploon.com

  • 1. Anthem Ayn Rand Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Anthem" by Ayn Rand can be both intellectually stimulating and challenging. The novella delves into complex themes of individualism, collectivism, and the nature of freedom. The challenge lies not only in comprehending Rand's philosophical ideas but also in articulating a well-structured and coherent response. To begin with, interpreting the nuances of Rand's objectivism requires a deep understanding of her philosophical framework. This involves grappling with concepts like rational self-interest, individual rights, and the rejection of collectivist ideologies. Unraveling these ideas and presenting them in a clear, concise manner can be a daunting task for any writer. Moreover, the narrative style of "Anthem" adds another layer of difficulty. The story is told from the first-person perspective of the protagonist, and the language used is deliberately simple, reflecting the oppressive nature of the society depicted in the novella. Balancing a sophisticated analysis of the themes with the stark simplicity of the text can be a delicate tightrope walk. Another challenge arises in connecting the philosophical aspects with real-world implications. Rand's ideas, while thought-provoking, can be polarizing, and constructing a persuasive argument requires careful consideration of counterarguments and the broader societal context. Furthermore, finding a unique angle or fresh perspective to stand out among the multitude of essays on the same topic adds an additional layer of complexity. Striking the right balance between personal insight and adherence to academic conventions is crucial for creating an engaging and scholarly essay. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Anthem" by Ayn Rand demands not only a comprehensive understanding of her philosophy but also the ability to navigate the complexities of expression and interpretation. It necessitates a thoughtful synthesis of ideas, a critical examination of the text, and a skillful presentation of arguments. Despite its challenges, the process of exploring and dissecting Rand's work can be intellectually rewarding for those willing to embark on this literary journey. If you find yourself struggling with similar tasks or need assistance in crafting essays on various topics, consider seeking help from professional writing services. Windows XP vs. Mac OS X Architecture When looking at the interface of the Mac OS X Operating System and the Microsoft Windows XP operating system many similarities can be seen. The most obvious is the use of blue in the interface. In the core of the systems they both have a micro kernel which addresses thread management, space management and other communications at the system level and is more resistant to attacks from a virus. Mac OS X is a powerful development platform; it supports multiple development technologies like UNIX, Java, Cocoa and Carbon. It also is host to many open source, web, scripting, database and development technologies. It was build around the integrated stack of graphics and media technologies such as QuickTime, ... The system can also determine how much RAM should be used for each running application and it can also determine how much of the processor needs to be devoted to the running applications. For example if a picture is being rendered in Photoshop in the background and a user is surfing the web in the foreground, the system will automatically put more of the processors power to the Photoshop application to get the requested job done. Apple also wants as many developers as it can get for the Operating System; therefore they have created development tools that are included with every copy of the system. One of the most notable programs that is included is called Xcode. Xcode provides interfaces to compilers that support several programming languages such as C, C++ and Java. Because Apple is also in a transition from the PowerPC RISC processor to the Intel X86 processor the Xcode application can compile code for either or both processors, making the compiled application a Universal Binary application. Windows XP has a microkernel that sits between the Hardware Abstraction Layer and the executive, it provides multiprocessor synchronization, thread and interrupt scheduling and
  • 3. Cellular Respiration Respiration is defined as the process of taking air into the body. Cellular respiration is much more complex. An organism consists of a single cell and even while a humans body contain trillions, all cells undergo cellular respiration. It also is by this process of breaking down food molecules which are simple sugars that produces the energy currency of the cell, also known as Adenosine Triphosphate(ATP). The way that photosynthesis works is by capturing light energy. This energy is captured in chemical bonds, and meaning that plants use radiant energy to fix molecules together. This is how plants provide their own nutrition from carbondioxide, water, and minerals. Also as part of this process, oxygenis released in the atmosphere which
  • 4. Pros And Cons Of The Removal Of Confederate Monuments The removal of the Confederate soldier monuments and memorials, such as the Robert E. Lee statue, and the Confederate Soldiers Monument in Tampa, Florida are sparking massive debates across the nation. Southern communities such as Virginia and South Carolina are being pressured by citizens into removing the Confederate monuments in the town square, claiming that the monuments are a brutal reminder of America s history of slavery. Despite the monuments representation of American history, this is a national debate. Inn some states this has emerged into a deadly conflict in the streets, due to the violent protests and riots in the town square. The Confederate soldier, Robert E. Lee, his statue was dedicated on May 21, 1924 at the Gala of the Confederate Soldiers in Charlottesville, Virginia. The sponsor s dedicated the monument to the lost cause (Dearstyne, Washington Post) of the Civil War; to the valiant fight the Confederate Soldiers displayed while fighting for their land, and way of life. The issue of slavery was carefully avoided during the dedication speech. Furthermore, the Confederate Memorial in Tampa, Florida was created in tribute to the Confederate soldiers who fought for their way of life, their plantations, homes, and beloved land. This memorial was dedicated on February 9, 1911. The Robert E. Lee monument was commissioned by a businessman and philanthropist named Paul Goodloe McIntire, who was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia. McIntire also

Lightfoot Abstract This paper examines the ability to graphically display frequency distribution tables that are represented within a school setting. There are three types of data sets that are interpreted within two types of frequency distribution tables (see Table 1). The first type of data set that is mentioned is a discrete nominal data set that is graphically displayed as a bar chart (see Figure 1), which displays the reoccurrence of each category within the simple frequency table (see Table 2). The second data type referenced is a discrete ordinal data set that was analyzed through a simple frequency table. The simple frequency table allows for the conversion of the ordinal data into a pie chart (see Figure 2), which measures the percentages within a four point Likert Scale (see Table 3). The final data source is a continuous interval set, which was interpreted through a cumulative frequency table (see table 4). The cumulative frequency table is graphically represented in Figure 3 as a combination of a histogram (which measures the percentage of class intervals) and scatter points (to identify the cumulative percentage between all of the class intervals). Graphically Representing Data Within a School Setting The creation of frequency distribution tables allows for the conversion of the data within the set into a dramatic graphic representation. • 8. Techniques With Language, The Cut Up Method And Permutation Brion Gysin created two techniques with language, the cut up method and permutation. The cut up method involves cutting up a page into four sections, rearrange said sections and then read the product. The rearrangement of the sections in opposing places extracts new meaning to the text, an outlook that could not be generated from a logical standpoint. A new found sense of surrealism is discovered in something already familiar to us. Surrealist artists of the era were advocating for an art of the unconscious mind. It is by my affirmation that Brion Gysin s intention behind creating The Cut Up Method was to show language could be used like a tool to extract new meaning, depending on an individual s subconscious. Brion Gysin A dialogue often breaks out. It speaks. The means are our machines. • 9. Raymond Bamhart Definition Of Ethics Essay What is Ethics Ethical behavior, an action a human may find challenging to balance in one s life. One is encompassed with daily decisions to choose right from wrong. For example, being late for work, one may decide to speed to get to work on time, knowing if you re late for work again you could lose your job. So one may decide to get to work on time, regardless of the consequences of possibly getting a ticket, causing an accident and putting the lives of others in danger which could be one s worst nightmare. How does one define ethics? Raymond Baumhart, a sociologist gave insight on what Ethics means in his viewpoint. He had mentioned that when feelings are put into the equation, it can have drawbacks of doing what is morally correct. Also, putting Religion in an Ethical review can undermine the one s that do not believe or have different beliefs. Religion will give some people inner peace, and it may give the foundation to think morally, but religion and ethics are not equivalent. Furthermore, laws are put into place to maintain some structure of what is acceptable in the eyes of the law, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having a foundation of supporting and morally correct role models will instill the values to act with good intentions. Also, ethics to me is acts of kindness and compassion. I strongly believe to treat others how you want to be treated. However, there will always be situations where one will have to make the choice of choosing one decision over the other to protect what you think is morally correct at the time. For example, a doctor might think he has a medical moral obligation whereas the family may override the Doctor s moral dilemma and deal with the consequences. Some people may feel intimidated by one s status, but if one is taught strong values at the beginning of life, deciding the right thing to do, may just be second nature to
  • 10. Decisional Diction In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken Poetry Essay The Road Not Taken In the narrative poem, The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost utilize literary devices to magnified the concept of decisional dilemma and present a message on paths chosen in the course of life. Robert Frost implemented strategic diction, sensory imagery, and figurative language that enhances the content portrayed in the poem itself. The poem focus around the turmoil of the two roads the speaker has to choose one being a commonly taken path and the other one isn t commonly taken is filled with discomfort and unexpected nature . The speaker eventually selected the route of uncertainty, yet it develops the notion of individuality that opposes the influence of socially uniformed opinion. Forst s decision solidified the concept that each individual possess the ability to form their own unique belief, and take their future in their own hands. Robert Frost incorporates specific usage of dictions throughout the poem to enhance meaning, while exerting his attitude in the context of the literature. In the first line of The RoadNot Taken, the term diverged is placed after Two roads to introduce the story at a location where the speaker is faced with a decision. The term word diverge projects the image that the road is separated with the results differ based on the route the speaker chooses. The speaker responds with I could not travel both in line 2 of the poem. The term not in this case elaborates on the fact that the speaker is unable to foresee the outcome of both route. A significant component on why the speaker is apprehensive on deciding which road he will ultimately take. Robert Frost incorporates an assonance rhythm in each of his stanza with the last words of the first, third, and fourth lines having the same ending syllable, as well as second and fourth line respectively. The usage of an assonance in this poem represents the movement of each step that the speaker takes as he progressively walk in the path of life he chooses. Visual image of scenery enable the readers to merge with the environment and mental state the speaker is currently experiencing within the realm of the literature. Frost announce that he looked down one as far as I could in line 4 to one
  • 11. The Informant s Language Of Spanish The informant s language of Spanish can affect the grammar of English Acquisition. For example, Part Four focused on phonetics. Distinguishing different languages by using phonetics is important because it allows teachers to examine the differences between the sounds of source and target languages and explain this difference to learners. In Part Four, we noticed one of the dialectical differences between the English language and the Spanish language. The difference is that the Spanish language has accent marks in the letters. Accent marks are essential to how we pronounce words. This was also shown in Part Six. While observing the translation of sentences between Spanish and English, my partner and I noticed that some words were changed in Spanish to include accent marks. Accent marks change the letter sounds. They help to determine how a letter is supposed to sound in words. For example, The white mouse at bread and crackers translates to El ratГіn blanco comiГі pan y galletas . Another dialectic difference that we came across was the different alphabet. The Spanish alphabet contains letters that the English alphabet does not such as: ch, ll, Г±, and rr. Lastly, the Spanish language also appears to have a shorter sentence stress than the English language. Our informant said the words in her native language and during that time she did not elongate the vowels instead, she said them rapidly. In addition to how Spanish Grammar could affect English acquisition, Spanish

Compare and Contrast The Two Poems Island Man and The Fringe Of The Sea I recently read two poems entitled Island Man and The Fringe Of The Sea . They are both similar in theme, but they also have many differences. Both poems are based on the emotions of people who live near the sea and their feelings towards it. This theme relates to both of the authors, and connects them; the author of The Fringe Of The Sea , A.L. Hendricks, was born in Jamaica and later in life moved to Britain. Grace Nichols, author of Island Man , was born in Ghana and then also immigrated to the UK. Grace Nichols poem Island Man is about a Caribbean man who lives in London, but still longs for his home and the sea. The poem follows the man as he wakes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These lines use enjambment for the effect of the lines flowing into each other to make it seems like the sea. The first half flows smoothly, as does the second half, except for the final word. The letter S is used in both halves to bring them together to remind the readers of Islands Man closeness to the sea. The letter H ( head ) is a break from the S s and therefore the rhythm is lost. The third line ( to the sound of blue surf ) has alliteration of the letter S . The sound of this letter is very much like that of the waves to remind the reader of the sea. To insure that this comes across to the readers there is emphasis on these letters. There is also an emphasis on the word head here to make the readers realize that it is only in Island Man s head, as he also realizes the truth. The fourth line uses two verbs, which have internal rhyme to make the line flow easier (breaking and wombing). The first verb breaking suggests the repetitive and steady breaking of the waves on the Caribbean sands. More evidence of this meaning the waves is the fact that the line says the steady breaking and wombing which clearly illustrates the waves motion. The second verb wombing is derived from the word womb ; therefore this connotes warmth, maternal love and family. Island Man would connect all of these with his home, and he would connect
  • 14. The Key Verses And Passages That Tell Us More Introduction Many people, especially Christians know of the book of John for its famous verse found in chapter 3 verse 16, For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life (NIB, Pg.1912). But there is far more to the fourth Gospelthat gives us an in depth culture of people known as the Johannine Community. Thesis In order to better understand the Fourth Gospel in the Holy Scriptures, I am going to first give a brief description of the authorship, setting, and date in which this was said to have been written. Second, I will explain the purpose or context in which this gospel was written. Third, I will discuss key verses and passages that tell us more in depth about Jesus. Last and finally, I will my own questions, thoughts, and observation of the Gospel of John. Last and finally. Background When discussing the time period in which this piece was actually written, it is important to understand that it was written before the epistles. According to many scholars such as Charles H. Talbert, the book of John was written either after or around the same time as the letters 1, 2, 3 of John (Talbert, pg.4). According to Talbert, the text cannot be dated much later than 100 AD. There are fragments from Chapter 18:31 33 that seem to be dated back to as early as second century, or 125 AD (Talbert, Pg. 1917). When it comes to the authorship of the text, it is also said to be unknown, although
  • 15. Pollution In Air Pollution Demolition and Construction sites are bad when it comes to the control of particulates causing an increase in air pollution. The particulates can be emitted by the process of knocking down or disturbing the building letting the particulate free and get into the air reducing the quality. If the workers do not manage what they are doing correctly, it can have harmful impacts on not only their health but the communities and the environment. At times enforcing the laws and good practice can be expensive and very disruptive. The legislation includes things like Identifying activities that create pollution, Environmental risk assessment, selecting low emission materials and getting the right training and using the proper methods. But what is classified as particulates and what are they? They can be very broad but things such as Dustand asbestos from knocking buildings down that can float away causing harm to the environment, and people s health, motor vehicle emissions and smoke from power tools also can have a significant impact. There are many ways in which emissions can be controlled including things such as Demolition workers can Water down the building as they are knocking it down to weigh down the particulates. Using the water to weigh down particualtes can be harmfull, as if the workers use to much water to weigh down this particualtes it can cause run off. This run off can end up in the river sytems and throw this way the particualtes can polute and cause harm to the enviroment and the animals in th eater. Workers can also time it to the wind, i.e. on windy days don t do work that will cause a lot of particulates to float around. They can even be aware of the environment in which they are working in and know the restrictions and the history s (mainly for older homes) of other houses to get a broader idea if the particulates cause more harm than a newer house might. For things such as Sanding, grinding and welding the workers can also use water to weigh down the particulates or use a type of grad method to trap the particulates. There are many more methods to different kinds of activities that may occur, but they are all mainly using the same type of techniques. But on the other hand, implementing these

The Pros And Cons Of George Washington Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty (Kennedy 1). In the words of Kennedy, as Americans we will do anything to ensure our liberty. This brings up a good question to how America was really founded. There are a lot of people and events that went into the foundation of America, but two of the most important are George Washington and the Constitution. Both worked hand in hand in order to give us the America we know and love today. George Washington made it possible that America could be created. George Washington was not very well educated, according to an article called George Washington s Education, George Washington s level of education was far lower than any of the other Founding Fathers of the United States. In fact, he was often scorned by some of the other Founding Fathers for this inadequacy. George Washington was not the most intelligent person but according to the article, even more importantly, though, his seemingly humble, controlled, and respectful demeanor won the hearts of the American people and established him as a national icon. Even though George Washington wasn t very well educated, he was humble, controlled, and respectful. This was necessary to produce a good figure for America. Americans needed someone to look to. This created a foundation for the constitution. They

As discussed by Kelman (1961), the basis for the effectiveness of celebrity endorsed advertising can be linked to this process of identification and internalization of the desired behaviour. Price of fame may be high for the celebrity endorsed brands but they have both what the markets and the everyday common man want attention, power and star sizzle. In the same breath, the theoretical model hierarchy of effects suggests that for a purchase to take place, the consumer must be first aware of the product, then inculcate a liking towards it, and finally develop an intention to acquire it. Two of the main renewable energy sources that are getting a lot of attention are wind and solar. One of the difficulties presented with some renewable energy sources are their inherent inconsistency. Wind intensities change from hour to hour and from one season to the next. Solar radiation can be strong one minute and be nearly blocked out the next by a cloud. To make renewable energy more reliable and coincide with strict utility standards the use of power electronics is needed. The advancement in power electronics has also greatly improved in efficiency and allows more energy to be captured by natural resources. Another difficulty with

However, staying in the alarm stage can lead to the second phase of stress known as resistance. During this stage the body tends to get tense, tired, along with a weaker immune system. People will begin smoking and drinking to come out of the stress. The reactions to this phase are anxiety, memory loss, overreacting, and depression. The Sequence Of Target Messenger Rna MicroRNAs (miRNA) are small noncoding RNA, usually 17 25 nucleotides long that are able to bind complementary sequences of target messenger RNA (mRNA) and to induce both their degradation and translational repression (Fortunato, et al 2014). They are one of the most significant classes of non coding RNA molecules (eg. small interfering RNA (siRNA) and ribozymes) that act within the cell. MiRNAs are also evolutionary conserved in different species from plants to humans and are encoded by their respective genes (Bader, 2012). Structurally, miRNAs are initially transcribed from the genome as a long primary transcript that are cleaved or undergoes sequential processing by the RNAse III endonucleases Drosha and Dicer to yield the 17 23 mature nucleotide species (Kim, 2005). Mature miRNAs enters the RNA induced silencing complex (RISC), thus a multiprotein complex that separate the mature strand from passenger strand and assists the interaction of mRNAs with miRNA that contain complementary sequences (Bader, 2012). As a result, mRNAs targeted by miRNA loads are either degraded or silenced in order not to be translated into protein. In the genome, a given miRNA can regulate several hundred transcripts whose molecules function within various cellular pathways including cell proliferation and apoptosis. To date, more than 50% of the activities of all protein coding genes in mammals are controlled by miRNAs and greatly contributes to cell type specific profiles of protein expression

  • 39. The Importance Of Heart Disease Your heart is one of the most important organs in your body. However, there are certain things that can damage your heart and cause the heart muscle and tissue to die. Heart disease is one of the main causes. There are many different types of heart disease, but one that happens most often is coronary artery disease (https:/ /www.nhlbi.nih.gov). This happens when there is a block in the coronary arteries, which are spider leg like blood vessels that cause the cardiac cells to quit receiving oxygen and nutrients and leads to a heartattack. For heart tissue to live, there needs to be oxygen in the blood stream, but when oxygen is not present, the heart tissue will die. Since heart disease kills more men and women than any other disease, people working in the field of regenerative medicine have been trying to find a way to repair or replace damaged tissue. At least two different paths of research are helping with these efforts. One of these research paths uses information we already know about stem cells outside of the organism and our understanding of gene expression in the body to help guide cells toward certain outcomes. The other path explains tissue regeneration by observing certain organisms that repair or regenerate damaged tissue naturally (Major, 1). Many studies have shown that the same genetic markers found in the development of hearts in embryos are the same markers used to recognize the embryonic like stem cells in the adult heart. Stem cells are cells that do not
  • 40. Meaning Of Life Gilberto Fernandez Mrs. Manley Philosophy 13 December 2017 The Evolution of the Meaning of Life The complex idea of the meaning of life came to be first through the Hindu teachings. The four main purposes of life are Dharma meaning to act virtuously and righteously. Artha means the prosperity and successfulness in one s life. Kama being the concept of whatever action a person makes, they will receive the same back. Moksha is the proceeding of a spirit into another being according to their past life. Following the Hindus, then came the Dao teachings of life, using the five elements earth, wind, fire, water, and air for fulfilling one s personal goal in accomplishing a successful life. Through the use of the elements, Daoists have found certain rules of nature that are shown in our human existence. Because of the elements, our lives are constantly affected by outside forces and by nature itself. Therefore knowledge of the principles of nature will help a person move from being troubled by outside forces to being led by the natural inside forces that are centered in peace beyond outside forces. By following Tao, or the way, one must mentally teach oneself the capabilities of being successful in life on Earth. Tao is not a god but more of a way or self encouragement type of movement. The meaning of life in Confucianism is to follow the ways of Confucius to achieve your personal goal. Confucius believed that Tien Ming was that all living things are under the ultimate control
