Immigration And The United States
Immigration is one of the most heated topics in the U.S. political and social agenda and usually
evokes strong polar opinions in the American society, in part due to its complex composition of
peoples and cultures. It is precisely due to this fact, that the interpreters and translators working in
the field of Immigrationmust be familiar not only with the basic types of immigration hearings, but
have an understanding of the history of Immigration in the United States, different types of visas
and statuses as well as paths to Permanent Residency and Citizenship.
This Unit will provide you with the condensed knowledge of the main events in the United States
history, explain the difference between the numerous types of visas and inform you ... Show more

1.HISTORY OF IMMIGRATION
The United States of America has a rich immigration history, dating back to the 18th century, where
there were virtually no immigration restrictions, making the U.S. a kaleidoscope of ethnic and
cultural groups it is today. Following the Civil War, several U.S. states made initial attempts in
regulating immigration, which led to the 1875 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court to make the
immigration a federal responsibility, thus launching a chain of Immigration laws and regulations
leading us to today.
The first immigration law, the Page Act of 1875 (aka the Asian Exclusion Act) was passed in
1875 and prohibited the importation of Asian contract workers, any Asian women who would
engage in prostitution and everybody who is considered to be a convict in their own county. The
Page Act of 1875 was followed by the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act, which prohibited Chinese
contract laborers to immigrate to the United States, as well as Alien Contract Labor laws of 1885
and 1887, both of which broadened the laborers exclusion list.
Soon after, the increasingly complex immigration laws established by the federal government led to
the creation of the Office of the Superintendent of Immigration within the Treasure Department. The
newly organized government office inspected, admitted or rejected as well as processed all the
newly arriving immigrants.
January 2nd, 1892 marked the opening of the famous immigration station located on Ellis Island in

Case Study Of Trump s One China Policy
So far, Trump has managed to antagonize the Mexican president and the Islamic world as well as
harangue the Australian prime minister and the French president. More interestingly, after reaching
out to his Chinese counterpart via a letter in which he expressed a desire to form a constructive
relationship , Trump decided to accept the traditional US approach of pursuing a One China policy.
US defence secretary James Mattis was in Asia recently as the first member of the Trump cabinet
on foreign shores for talks with Japan and South Korea two of America s closest allies. This visit
was an attempt to underscore the importance of Asia in Trump s foreign policy matrix.

Though he took on China by suggesting that it shredded the trust of nations in the region with the
island building and by using political pressure on states in the region, he refrained from calling
for an increase in American military presence in the region. Abe s visit to the US last week saw
Tokyo offering direct financial, engineering and technical input for Trump s proposed
infrastructure development programme as well as other proposals for cooperation in cutting edge
technologies such as commercial aircraft, robots and artificial intelligence. This plan, the Japan US
growth and employment initiative , is the centrepiece of Abe s outreach to Trump. Tokyo is hoping
to embed the larger US Japan relationship in the economic leverage that it can bring to bear on it.
In South Korea, Mattis addressed the controversy over the joint decision to deploy a Terminal High
Altitude Area Defence (Thaad) battery in response to North Korean ballistic missile development.
He had already reaffirmed American commitment to the deployment of a Thaad system to defend
against North Korean ballistic missiles despite recent pressure from China to cancel the deployment.

Themes of Founding Brothers
The preface in Founding Brothers shows a theme of History throughout. Knowing that this book is
a history novel this theme stands evident. The preface shows how the book will take on the history
of the American Revolution and shortly afterwards. It also shows the two fundamental party s of
United States Government, the Federalists and Republicans. The author deems this point in
American history the most important stating, ... They were actors in a historical drama written by
the gods. (Ellis 3). In the novel the author, Joseph J. Ellis uses eight historical figures and their

It depicts the second presidential race between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. Adams won the
presidential race leaving Jefferson as the Vice President. Even though Jefferson and Adams had
their obvious physical differences, Adams was short and chubby while Jefferson was tall and
slender, they became close friends while in office together. In the early elections the main
criteria was revolutionary war status. Adams had the upper hand their because he had dedicated
his entire life to the revolution. The one concept that the two disagreed on was the decision of a
monarchical power. Adams oddly liked the idea of a president that could run for as many terms as
he pleases. He even thought of calling the president His Majesty which led Jefferson to disagree.
Jefferson said thing that made Adams infuriated, eventually the two set their differences aside and

Difference in Reactions of Sheila Birling and Her Father in J.B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls
Coursework. Sheila Birling and her father react totally differently to the inspector. How far would
the audience agree? Author Birling I do agree that Sheila Birling and her father Author Birling
react differently to the inspector. This shows because when the inspector was talking to Author
Birling, he was very annoyed at the inspector and didn t want to listen to what he had to say, this

Birling doesn t feel guilty at all about this case, because he doesn t care. This shows when he
says There s nothing mysterious scandalous about this business, at least im concerned it s
happened more then eighteen months ago nearly two years now, obviously it has nothing to do
with the wretched girl suicide. When he says wretched girl suicide this shows that he never
really liked her at all and doesn t wish to remember her. Birling doesn t think about the links she
could have suffered before he had sacked her. Even when Eric said He could of kept her instead
of throwing her out, I call it tough luck. Mr Birling didn t want to listen to what Eric as saying
because Birling didn t want the blame for this at all and also he didn t like complaints that other
people had against him. When the inspector wants to talk to Sheila, Mr Birling says Nothing to
do with you Sheila, run along now! This shows that Birling didn t want anyone else involved into
this case and he didn t want to spoil the evening and wanted the inspector to leave. Birling is
different to Sheila because as Sheila finds out about Eva Smith she is very upset and didn t know
that a horrible thing could happen to a young girl. Sheila accepts what has happened to Eva Smith

and female identity challenging myths. This novel depicts the feministic elements, caste and class

Essay About Marijuana
Marijuana may control the way people act, think, and even hurt their college academics. Marijuana
is one of the most popular used drugs in America ranking about third after tobacco and alcohol.
Marijuana is a substance that has become very much a part of American culture; many college
students have either used it occasionally or regularly. With that in mind, I thought it would be
interesting to find out about students at Alcorn State University (ASU) and their use of marijuana.
In fact most students might not even know what they are smoking and what exactly makes them
feel the way they do.
Exactly what is marijuana? Marijuana is made of the dried leaves and flowers of the female
cannabis sativa plant, and looks like oregano. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt it would let me see first hand how people act when smoking marijuana. I figured it would be
a lot easier to observe my friends smoking marijuana because I know they would not feel
uncomfortable. I was aware that students could lie on the survey and in my interview so that is
why I decided to see people smoking first hand.
To start out the survey I asked not to write your name just to indicate whether you were male or
female. There were six males and four females. I also needed to know whether or not they
smoked marijuana; there were eight out of ten students who smoke marijuana. Why do young
people start to use marijuana? There are many reasons why most young people start to smoke
marijuana because their friends or brothers and sisters use marijuana and pressure them to try it.
In my survey five out of ten students said the reason for starting to smoke was because of their
peers or older siblings. When interviewing Jada she said, I only started because of my friends, they
said I would like it so I tried it, and I did. Desiree answered that question a little different replying, I
watched my older brother always smoke weed and he looked like he was having fun. So one day I

Student Characters InA Palace Thief, By Ethan Canin
Within the text A Palace Thief by Ethan Canin, Hundert, a history teacher in St. Benedict s,
believes that he will mold his students characters. He then meets Sedgewick Bell, a student who
influences his code of morals.
A major ideology that Hundert believes in is that with the assistance of history, he will develop
good character and high ideals in the minds of his students. He believes that with these
characteristics his students would become great men in the future. In the text when Hundert is
asked by Senator Bell what is the benefit of teaching his students history, Hundert replies saying,
When they read the reign of Augustus Caesar... advances lead mankind away from the brutish
rivalries... into the two centuries of Pax Romana, then they understand the importance of character
and high ideals. It is important to note how Hundert is able to say this statement without hesitation
and declares that he is well prepared. This statement contributes to the idea of Hundert s
commitment of using great men of history to mold such qualities into his students. Hundert
believes that he should mold such characteristics into the minds of his students because he was
mindful of the the role the ...students would eventually play in the affairs of our country. , As
stated before, Hundert teaches at an elite private school and he had taught the sons of nineteen
senators, during his time there. As he was teaching the offspring of influential people this, would

Pathophysiology Of Coughing
Coughing is a symptom, a body reflex which helps rid the body of foreign materials from the lungs
and upper airway passages. It is not a disease until it is evaluated. With Khristian having a
productive cough with mucus and a high grade temperature, this shows there s is an infection in the
body systematically. A productive cough is often associated with a feeling of chest tightness in the
chest. Vomiting can mean different things; when a child coughs or has a lot of mucus drains in the
stomach, the swelling in the trachea activate the gag reflex which induces vomit.
The pathophysiology alteration that can be associated with this cough could be croup, pneumonia
and influenza. These three diagnoses are the most common diagnosis in children with similarity in
clinical presentation. The pathophysiology of croup explained that when a child has a croup, he
or she wakes up in the middle of the night with a barking cough and shortness of breath (Murray
et al., 2011). It is usually caused by a viral infection known as parainfluenza virus with type 1 3
being the most common type. This virus affect the trachea which results in the inflammation of the
windpipe making is hard to breathe. The narrowing of the windpipe results in a tight and barky
cough sound. Since it is viral infection there is no vaccination against the disease. Clinical ... Show

Michael Sandberg, chairman of HSBC in Hong Kong, was considering the alternatives for
expanding in the US market.
Reasons to enter into the US market:
HSBC dealings in the Eurocurrency market had led to large deposits of US dollars, British pounds
and other currencies, which the bank needed to lend to borrowers somewhere.
HSBC had been already operating in the United States since 1875.
Although HSBC had over a century of experience in international banking, it had never considered
a major move into the US domestic market.
In the late 1970 s, at a time where their British pounds, deutsche marks, and Japanese yen could
buy far more dollars than in the 1950 s and 1960 s, many of the bank s clients were establishing
offices, factories, and other investments in the United States.
Move into the US market as a hedge against the substantial risk of nationalization by the Chinese
government.
Interest on establishing domestic activities in the US, who was generally viewed as the least

HSBC had a competitive strength: its large staff of experiences bankers who knew about both
lending and borrowing opportunities in Asia that were little known to potential US clients.

ambient temperatures. During the period of stable daily weather fluctuations of mid to late October
subterranean daily mean temperatures varied insignificantly from ambient temperatures (p = 0.75).
Further deviation in the mean occurred with an increase in the intensity of temperature swings late
in the observation period. Subterranean lows varied significantly by approximately 3В°C from
ambient lows during the mid to late October uniform temperature period (p = 0.02). The sheltered
temperature remained on average 2.5В°C warmer than the ambient air temperature later in the
season. Ambient lows exceeded the subterranean low on two abnormally warm days in late October
(Figure 2). Overall, the subterranean microclimate remained significantly warmer than the ambient
temperature (p = 0.0001). The sheltered temperatures were largely warmer between 11/4 and 11/10
showing an increase in the rate of temperature decrease relative to the ambient temperatures.
However, the rate of temperature decline across the sample period did not vary significantly

World Systems Theory By Sociologist Immanuel Wallerstein
In the perspective of world systems theory, the United States is considered a core country, whereas
the global South (Africa, Latin America, and evolving Asia including the Middle East) contains a
multitude of peripheral countries. With such extensive poverty impeding the progress of countries
within the global South, it is possible that the United Statescan provide effective assistance.
However, an explanation must be presented to express how these core countriesand peripheral
countries become just that, in order to determine how they can change their status. This paper
intends to address how countries grow, how the US can aid the global South in the struggle of
poverty, and the possibility of altering trade policies to eventually... Show more content on

When it comes to sovereignty, there are two types: internal and external. Internal sovereignty occurs
within your borders, whilst external sovereignty is when other countries recognize this total
autonomous power that has accumulated. Wallerstein agreed with the concept of less borders and
more commonalities. He theorized that the core and the periphery should think and act more as a
whole rather than different parts, as those parts affect the outcome of the same machine. Therefore,
it would stand to reason that if the United States were to assist the global South in reducing
poverty, that it would actually be beneficial for the system as a whole.
US aid: In the current world economy, core countries such as the US go through increases in
wages, employment, and general prosperity. However, when this phase comes to an end, it is the
peripheral countries that bear the burden. (Wallerstein, 30) For example, let s say that the US
produces a product. The production of this good does quite well, until there is a tipping point,
otherwise known as an overproduction . The product is manufactured at such a high rate that it
surpasses the actual demand for said good. Due to the surplus, the prices become more competitive
and continue to decline, which means that there is less of a profit. So, core countries then outsource
their production processes to

Stanley Kubrick s The Shining

The Shining pushed the camera s uses even further, Stanley Kubrick made use of the camera to
shoot a scene barely above the floor. The inventor of the Steadicam, Garrett Brown was quoted
saying that One of the most talked about shots in the picture is the eerie tracking sequence
which follows Danny as he pedals at high speed through corridor after corridor on his plastic Big
Wheel tricycle. The soundtrack explodes with noise when the wheel is on wooden flooring and
is abruptly silent as it crosses over carpet. We needed to have the lens just a few inches from the
floor and to travel rapidly just behind or ahead of the bike . There are many examples of
innovative camera shots and the Steadicam was used in the maze scene as well.
Kubrick put so much effort into making this film it s incredible. It was originally supposed to be
shot in 17 weeks but ended up taking 46 weeks. This film to me is one of the best examples of
mise en scene I have ever seen. Which help express this film s story by making a sense of time

Nuclear Waste Management Essay
The disposal of nuclear waste is quickly becoming the most important issue facing the
environmental community today. Nearly twenty percent of our nation s electricity is being
supplied by approximately 100 nuclear power plants that are operating in the United States.
Currently, most of the nuclear wastecreated by these power plants is being housed temporarily in
storage facilities and although the total amount of nuclear waste produced in one year is small, the
need to find a permanent method of disposing this waste is rapidly growing. The problem is
everyone wants to live the lifestyle nuclear powerprovides, but no one wants to pay the price.

The three selected sites were Hanford, Washington; Deaf Smith County, Texas; and Yucca

The proposed plan is the first national permanent waste facility and will cost an estimated 6.3
billion dollars. The project will include borrowing massive tunnels through the mountain s inner
rock and then placing the storage tanks inside. Obviously, there is much public concern over the
project. One of the largest concerns is the possibility of seismic activity rupturing the tunnel and/or
canisters. At present, the 104th US Congress, house Resolution 1924 proposed to make Hanford,
Washington, the western US site for temporary storage, and it would be by default the permanent
disposal place of spent nuclear fuel from US reactors. This resolution stemmed from a growing
recognition that Yucca Mountains, in Nevada, is a less than brilliant location for this purpose. The
US government has no fallback position should the project at Yucca Mountain fail. Yucca Mountain
is not a sound solution for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel. The decision to site Yucca Mountain
as a waste repository was based on politics, not science. There continues to be much controversy

Using GPS to Track a Particular Person Essay
Using GPS to Track a Particular Person
Introduction
Often times its hard to imagine how the world survived without cell phones. Its an automatic
response, when you see a car accident you take out your cell phone and dial for help, or when a
child is waiting for a ride they will call their parents to see how far away they are. It is a great
convenience for society to be able to do such things. Imagine if you didn t even have to call
somebody to find out where they were. It may seem like a futuristic idea, humanity being capable of
such mind reading; however, the advancement of GPS, global positioning systems, those ideas are

How GPS Works
GPS works off of twenty four satellites located 11,000 nautical miles above Earth s surface. These
satellites track receivers, which are on Earth. Receivers can be GPS in a car, a chip located in a cell
phone, military tracking devises, police radios, or even something as every day as a watch. The
distance between the satellite and receiver is measured using the exact distance from six different
satellites that locates a particular receiver on a particular path at the intersection of the two
satellites. The exact distance and time that it takes to measure the distance is tracked and
formulated to produce the exact longitudinal and latitudianl axis of the person being located. As
complicated as the mathematical procedures sounds, the radio signals are transmitted
instantaneously and the close approximate location of a subject is known at once.9
Background
The first GPS satellite was created and launched in 1978, it was referred to as Block I (fig.2) 8. The
rest of initial 10 Block I satellites were launched through 1988.. From 1989 to 1993, 23 production

Reinstatement Model Of Relapse
One of the main problems in the treatment of addiction is the high rate of relapse to drug use.
Consequently, two major aims of preclinical research are to elucidate the behavioral, environmental,
and neural mechanisms underlying drug relapse and to discover medications that will prevent
relapses. The majority of studies on these topics involve the reinstatement model. The reinstatement
model is currently used in many laboratories to investigate mechanisms underlying relapse to
substance seeking. In the self administration version, by pressing a lever, animals would get a drug
infusion. Then, turning off the drugs, the animals still pressed the lever, associating it with the drugs.

Ideas about addiction have mainly been developed from neurobiological evidence and data from
studies of learning behavior and memory mechanisms. They overlap in some aspects and are not
mutually exclusive. None of them can explain all aspects of addiction. Generally, addictive drugs
can act as positive reinforcers or as negative ones. Environmental stimuli associated with drug use
itself can also induce a conditioned response in the absence of the drug. People afflicted with
obsessive addiction can not be rehabilitated. Finding the line between routine and drug induced
action becomes nearly impossible, making rehabilitation just as much so. Even after successful
rehabilitation, slipping back into the routine is always a threat. Society as a whole does not know
enough about addiction or obsession to deal with the current plague of addiction and relapse that

March 28, 2010 THE NEW YORK POST
The fast talking CEO of American Apparel David Charney whose libertine lifestyle and racy
marketing campaigns have kept the clothing chain controversial and on the minds of its young
shoppers has had to scramble to keep his beloved company out of bankruptcy.
Charney had to give up a large equity stake in the operation to a private equity firm, which rode to
its rescue from bankruptcy .
He also was forced to slow the chain s rapid rate of expansion and had to deal with stores that
couldn t even keep their shelves fully stocked thanks to the vise like grip on cash kept by Lion
Capital, the London based investment firm whose March 2009 financing deal saved Charney s
bacon.
Moreover the retail chain s shares plunged 17 percent after the New York based concern reported
its fourth quarter profits had dropped a jaw dropping 23 percent. While soaring costs and anemic
sales sapped profits, investors were likewise rattled as the company delayed giving an outlook for
2010, citing restrictions imposed on its operations by lenders. Which ultimately spooked investors,
who raced for the exits sending shares to a close at $3.17, down 67 cents.
At the time of the downturn , the company had to implement firings of about 1,500 workers .
But there was a new tune being played last week.

The Characteristics Of Robert Walton s Frankenstein
In the first few letters, opening the book, readers are introduced to the writer, Robert Walton, a
sailor with hopes of discovery. While addressing his letters to his sister, readers are able to follow
Waltons oceanic journey to the Arctic. In his letters he speaks of this journey, what ushers his
passion to learn, the story of his upbringing and his desire for a companion. Readers can see that he
is not only driven, and curious, but empathetic and lonesome as well.
Upon reading these quotes, it soon becomes clear that Frankenstein has a longing to retain
information. He is able to portray this educational longing through phrases such as having an
eager desire to learn, key word being eager. Frankenstein and I somewhat differ on our attitude
towards learning. I wish I was as motivated as he, but I lack the desire that steers him. I do desire
education, but just not to the extent that Frankenstein does. Not only does Frankenstein speak of
having access to a routine education, such as a school, but he also speaks of his ability to self
teach himself. In order to do so, he must have an immense amount of maturity and an ample amount
of both independence and self sufficiency. I only wish that I had these characteristics as strong as he.

Abstract: A hybrid generation is a part of large power system in which number of sources usually
attached to a power electronic converter and loads are clustered can operate independent of the
main power system. The protection scheme is crucial against faults based on traditional over
current protection since there are adequate problems due to fault currents in the mode of operation.
This paper adopts a new approach for detection, discrimination of the faults for multi terminal
transmission line protection in presence of hybrid generation. Transient current based protection
scheme is developed with discrete wavelet transform. Fault indices of all phase currents at all
terminals are obtained by analyzing the detail coefficients of current signals using bior 1.5 mother
wavelet. This scheme is tested for different types of faults and is found effective for detection and
discrimination of fault with various fault inception angle and fault impedance.

Environmental Factors Affect The Daintree Rainforest
Introduction Information
The Daintree rainforest is one of the oldest, surviving tropical rainforests in Queensland, with it
being about 165 million years old. The Daintree forest had its name formed by photographer,
Richard Daintree. Tropical rainforests will always receive substantial amounts of rain.
How big is the Daintree rainforest? With it on the northeast coast of Queensland, it surprisingly
measures at around 1200 square kilometres.
Environmental Factors:
Many environmental factors that affect the Daintree Lowland rainforest include fragmentation,
climate change, weeds, and dead animals. Climate change can have huge impacts on the rainforest
because most species of animals live in the cooler upland of the rainforest, which is a concern for
both the rainforest and the organisms. This is because scientists plan to remove the animal s
habitats (where they live). Weeds in the Daintree rainforest have increased dramatically. It has
effected the animal s food, due to some or most animals having reduced food portions. Another
effect would be that dead weeds create soil erosion near the upper inlands of the rainforest,
which alternatively decreases the animal s chances of survival. Dead animals such as; snakes and
hawks that are within the forest are a great initiative because larger species of animals like
crocodiles that live in the Cooper Creek can decompose (eat) the remains of these smaller animals,
and it creates food barriers so that other species can decompose

How Do MLS Players Get Big
Soccer is one of the biggest sports in the World, even though the US is just starting to play, it has
been very popular. This essay is going to talk about MLS soccer and how it got so big. It will
answer questions like the history of MLS, where MLS players come from, and MLS specific
stadiums. The history of MLS is very interesting for lots of reasons. The history of MLS began in
1988, when the USSF (United StatesSoccer Federation) pledged to create a professional soccer
league. For the 1994 FIFA WOrldCup. It was officially formed in 1995. When the league first
started to play in 1996 they started with 10 teams. Instead of operating as an association of
independently owned teams, MLS teams are owned and controlled by the league s investors. The
investor/operators control their teams as owners control teams in other leagues, and are
commonly (but inaccurately) referred to as the team s owners. The league has a fixed
membership, like most sports leagues in the United States and Canada, which makes it one of the
world s few soccer leagues that does not use promotion and relegation. Two years later it grew to
12 teams. In the beginning MLS... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On Ivory Trade
Bloody Ivory Last year 35,000 elephants were killed because of poaching and ivory trade.
Elephants are poached for the ivory in their tusks. The ivory is mostly used for jewelry such as

my arguments on why i think we should stop poaching elephants.
Elephants are being killed by the hundreds every day, just for their ivory. According to a book

times.
Having ivory showed power and wisdom. An Egyptian king back in the day, made his servants

been killing elephants for ages, it will be a hard habit to break, but i also feel like it must be done. I

A lot of factors need to be considered by the executive team of Lucky Air. An ill devised or poorly
implemented marketing plan would not only hinder the company s growth, it would also result in
the loss of the edge they have over the other companies.
The four cost components of the airline industry fuel, landing fees, aircraft leasing and taxes has
made operating Lucky Air in a productive manner a constant challenge. Even though the company
has a high competitive advantage being linked to Hainan Airlines, it still needed to upgrade its
business strategy on a regular basis to ensure maintaining the lead they had over the other airlines.
The company like all its counterparts face a myriad of restraints including heavily regulated
governmental laws, limitation to price reduction, a low potential for rapid expansion due to
government restrictions and heavy taxes.
Lucky Air being new in the field and operating on a small geographical area has to burden a lot
of costs. The restriction on expansion of the company makes it necessary for the airlines to lease
the airplanes at a high cost and the taxes ranging from 2% 10% makes it a challenge to manage its
finances. The monopoly of Civil Aviation Oil for fuel and National Development Reform
Commission for aircraft leasing puts a burden on the budget of the airline companies as they may
dictate the terms of their services as they see fit.
Another factor that Lucky Air has to keep in mind while devising its business

on scientific matter or how to cooperate with other people for your work, etc. However, I do not
think he can deny the fact that the starting salary for a liberal arts graduate is approximately
$32,500 while for an engineer is $75,000, (http://www.mtu.edu/engineering/outreach/welcome
/salary/). For instant, what can a person possibly do with his philosophy degree right after
graduating? He will probably have to go for more schooling before he can find a high paying job at
some big firms or he will have to struggle a lot before he can open his philosophy shop or publish
his book. In short, a liberal arts degree will take longer to see its worth than career education or
vocational training.

Paranoid Schizophrenic Self Analysis
Addressing My Younger Undiagnosed Paranoid Schizophrenic Self If you do your research, you
don t have to worry about being wrong I ve been researching myself, and I am putting it, for you,
in this song I don t know if it has a point but hope it helps somewhat Helps the mothers, fathers,

Nommo Literature Review
Nommo is the generating and sustaining powers of the creative word, which is manifested in
characteristics of African orality (Bates, Redrawing Afrocentrism: Visual Nommo in George H.
Ben Johnson s Editorial Cartoons). Orality is the notion that the word has power and force
(Howard). In this literature review, I will review the key theorists who analyze the oratory of
Nommo and their specific definitions of Nommo. In addition, this review will make note of the
evolution of Nommo and its different applications. Lastly, this review will close with the
explanation of the significance of Nommo to communicationstudies. Various scholars study the
idea of Nommo and the following is the ways they define it. Theorist Molefi Assante defines
Nommo as the word, which hold a transforming power of vocal expression. Asante also says that
Nommo differs from the Greek concept logos, in that Nommo includes creative arts, such as
literature, orature, and painting. These scholars define Nommo as the creative power of the spoken
word, which brings about harmony and balance (Cummings). Cummings and Roy also states that
Nommo goes beyond the mere use of words, phrases, or linguistic conventions; it also signifies
creating and sustaining of language that inform every facet of African Americanlife. Sheena
Howard defines Nommo as a delivery style that is unique to African Americans. Nommo is also
defined as not only telling a story through spoken word, but it gives the story heart, lungs

The Importance Of Citizenship In The United States
The citizenship clause was adopted through the 14th amendment to the constitution in July of 1868.
The story of the citizenship clause in the United States is the story of the Civil War. In Dred Scott
vs. Sandford, the Supreme Court decision that arguably concluded a war inevitable, the justices
found that black people even those born in the United Stateswere not considered citizens. Black
people were considered an inferior class of people, who had been overpowered by the dominant
race and had no rights but such as those who held the power and the Government might choose to
grant them. This clause represented Congress s reversal of a portion of the Dred Scott vs. Sandford
decision which had declared that African Americans could not become citizens of the United States.
After the Civil War, Congress overruled Dred Scott and passed the 14th Amendment granting
birthright citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the
jurisdiction thereof , before this every state decided the citizenship of a person. The United States
and Canada are the only nations that allow birthright citizenship, no matter the legal status of the
parents giving them full United States citizenship. This clause was originally designed to give
birthright citizenship to formerly enslaved people and their children. But the Supreme Court
confirmed in a later ruling, it also gives citizenship to anyone born in America, even in cases where
the parents aren t citizens of

Assessment of Levi Advertising Campaign Essay
Assessment of Levi Advertising Campaign
Levi s have been around for more than a century. The company was established in 1853. In 2003,
Levi Strauss Co. was 150 years old. In 1873 their founder, Levi Strauss created the first blue
jeans. From the mid 1950 s onwards, jeans have been especially associated with particular types of
male American youth heroes, including James Dean, the young Marlon Brando, their Sixties
followers heroes who have become symbols of youth rebellion in almost all areas, spanning over 5
generations of American global culture.
When Levi s were first brought out, their target audience was youths, teenagers. Unfortunately as
time went on, the teens that had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To keep this idea their target audience was teenagers, younger, fresher, with more money to
spend. Young people had their own spending power as consumers, following the hard times of the
war, when, it seemed, everyone had a lot more money than anticipated and wanted to spend it on
fashions and lifestyles. A new group of people to suck into the ever expanding trade, looking for
heroes to follow, and interests to pursue, Levi s used this opportunity and has drawn repeatedly on
the idea of the rebel .
Levi s new advertising campaign introduced a creative new idea, involving a man and a woman
recreating the impression of 50s America. All the advertisements in this series revolved around this
same idea of people finding the person wearing the jeans desirable. The scenarios ranged from
launderettes to beaches, all featuring an emphasis on physical attraction and most of them set in a
public place.
However Levis didn t predict what sort of impact this commercial campaign would bring to the
population of teenagers. The result was massive, the number of Button Fly 501 s sold in 1987
was over 20 times that of 1984, due to this break through in commercial advertising. Everyone
wanted to get their hands on a pair of 501 s.
The adverts denote that wearing Levi s is cool, sexy, stylish and, although being a casual fit, they
are versatile in the sense

Essay about Tutankhamun s Tomb
Since being one of the most intact monuments of Ancient Egypt, the finding of Tutankhamun s
tomb by Howard Carter in 1922 is believed to be the utmost significant archaeological discoveries
of the century. The treasures found were stored in the following parts of the tomb the Antechamber
Annex, and then the Burial Chamber and Treasury. The Ancient Egyptians believed in the afterlife.
The customs and beliefs of the Ancient Egyptians called for the preservation of the body and
extensive provisions for the after life which were buried with them in the tomb. These treasures
were seen as a continuation of the life of the Pharaoh before his death. It was therefore seen as
essential that the favourite items belonging to King Tut would be buried... Show more content on

The shrine of Tutankhamun uncovers the burial customs of the New Kingdom Egyptians. The
Canopic Shrine positioned on the east wall of the Treasury holds Tutankhamun s embalmed
internal organs. A gold chest held four Canopic jars containing the dead pharaoh s internal
organs in each jar. Undoubtedly, through the process of mummification, the embalmers must
have removed the internal organs and preserved them in the Canopic jars, perhaps to be taken
with the pharaoh to the next world. The third and innermost of three coffins of Tutankhamun is
made of solid gold and is inset with semiprecious stones and coloured glass. It is covered with
carved decorations and inscriptions inside and outside. It bears the names and epitaph of the
deceased king and also protective texts. From this we discover the significance of the
importance of the decoration of the mummy was, and the power the coffin was believed to hold.
Originally, mummification was so expensive that it was a privilege enjoyed only by the Pharaoh
and few nobles. Everybody else was given a simple grave burial in one of the vast cemeteries or
necropolises of the time. But the promise of eternal life was so appealing that it wasn t long before
other classes of Egyptians began signing up for mummification, too.
Strong religious and spiritual believes is shown through the Anubis shrine. It is associated with the
mummification and protection of the dead for their journey into the afterlife. The Anubis

Claim: Wrigley s Eclipse Chewing Gum Kills Bad Breath causing Germs. Wrigly Eclispe

while their closest competitors only masked the smell of bad breath. The claim that Wrigley Gum
kills bad breath germs is untrue. The gum had and has no mechanism or chemical to kill germs
that cause bad breath in the human mouth. The validity of this claim can be tested by (1)
reviewing the active ingredients or chemicals in the gum and determining if those ingratiates
neutralize germs that cause bad breath or (2) doing a before and after mouth germ test. Claim:

A Wrinkle Through Time Is The Story Of Meg Murry
A Wrinkle In Time is the story of Meg Murry, a high school girl who goes on an adventure
between dimensions with her younger brother Charles Wallace and friend Calvin to save her
father from the evil forces that hold him prisoner on another planet. These evil forces are known
as IT, and strive to create uniformity and obedience without any resistance. At the end of the
book the children have saved Mr. Murry from imprisonment on Camazotz, but Charles Wallace
was taken over by IT, the one who had Mr. Murry, and was left behind. Meg is forced to go back
to Camazotz alone to save her brother, using something that she has the IT can t fight. Using her
immense love for her brother she frees him from the control of IT and all four of them make it
home safely. I personally would have prefered a more tragic ending, so that s exactly what I m
going to be writing here. My ending diverges from the original plot line after Meg lands on
Camazotz alone to save Charles Wallace: Meg was standing breathlessly on the same hill that she
had landed on the first time she came to Camazotz. She looked around, and after realizing that she
was truly alone, felt dread pool in her stomach. The unforgettable voice of Mrs. Which still echoed

Rome s Paramount Architectural Accomplishments Essay
Many of Rome s paramount architectural accomplishments can be found in, and around Italy. These
sites include the Pantheon, the Arch of Titus, the Mausoleum of Hadrian, the Roman Forum, and
Ancient Roman Aqueducts, along with the Colosseum. Many of these architectural feats have been
replicated throughout Roman territory. Their domain stretched all over Europe, Northern Africa,
and even into the Middle East. Today we are still able to enjoy much of Rome s artistry, which can
be linked to the how their engineers manufactured these monuments. Roman architects created
structurally sound buildings by making use of the vault, and the arch. These engineers also created
concrete, a binding agent holding the structures together. All of these forms were later replicated
throughout the empire (Lake Oswego School District, 2012:1). The remains of one such Roman
architectural achievement, was unearthed in DurrГ«s, Albania in 1966 (Bowes and Mitchell,
2009:570; Bowes et al., 2003:381; Ponce de Leon, 2013:3; UNESCO, 2004:34). The Roman
amphitheater happens to be the largest in the Balkans, and contains several frescos, which helped to
track Christianity as it spread throughout the region (Jacques, 1995:154; Ponce de Leon, 2013:3).
Currently this remarkable stadium is under consideration from UNESCO as a World Heritage site.
Unfortunately, the impact of urban sprawl, Albania s poor economy, and time, are not helping to
maintain this cultural relic. Albania Some of the main

The Trip to the Dentist Office
Thinking to myself, is there any way I could jolt back in my car and head back for home, I enter
the tall thin tan colored brick building and walk over to the elevator, hoping that the last half hour
of scrubbing my teeth to death pays off. Nervously, I push the up button and patiently wait. The
elevator door promptly opens and I am engulfed, the door closes, up I go. Once on the second
floor, I exit the elevator and immediately I can smell the mixture of the wintergreen flavored tooth
paste and the overwhelming aroma of bleach out in the hall, along with the sound of the teeth
grinding drills which gives, no longer the feeling of the dentist office but of road construction ...

Then I turn and look to see a photo album sitting on an ancient looking coffee table. I pick it up only
to see mouthfulls of melancholy decaying teeth and gums. I quickly close the book thinking if I
looked at it long enough I would turn to stone and shutter at the thought, but happy to know that
mine are all there twinkling in the abundance of sunlight that s peaking in from the outside world
through the streak free window.
Finally, the nurse calls my name and I enter the inner office and sit in the cream colored trap
looking chair, hoping that it will swallow me and send me any where but here. Looking at all of
the shiny stainless steel tools gives me a feeling that I am about to enter war. Laying down the
bright overhead light momentarily blinds me, then he starts the procedure.
So, how have things been going with you since the last time I ve seen you Andy? he asks.

Project Orangutan Dolphins
Unconsciously us humans take a breath 12 20 times a minute, we go about our days not
necessarily thinking about when we will take our next breathe. Dolphins on the other hand make
the choice to take each and every breath, and when they become too stressed or overwhelmed,
they will choose not to take that next breathe. Ongoing stress and the loss of space to swim in
dolphinariums is demeaning to the incredible creatures and leads to many taking their lives or
becoming something they were never designed to be. Dolphins which are placed in dolphinariums
and forced to perform or swim with humans for excitement are enslaved and not living the life
intended. Living quarters for these animals is unimaginable small and places a great burden on their

From the capturing process, to the living and training spaces, to the continuously forced
performances they are required to do daily, these animals face an uncounted for amount of
stress. The capturing process allows men to heard groups of dolphins together and trap them into
small coves with nets and boats, then hand picking the wanted ones and dragging them away to
never see open waters again. Project Orangutan talks about the capturing and the stress it inflicts
on these animals, .. during the capturing process itself as they get entangled in nets and
suffocate, others may die from stress. Not only do these animals recognize the loss of movement
but the death of their friends around them. If the stress of being taken away from their home
wasn t enough, they are then forced to live in concrete cells with no sound reflection. To us that
seems fine but when your strongest sense is hearing and string enough to detect the difference
between a ping pong ball and golf ball, the constant screaming and splashing of water around you
begins to take a toll. Dolphins use a type of sound detection called echolocation, which can be
damaged through time by the living conditions of dolphinariums. Dolphinproject.com talks about
the lessening of sounds and vocalization of these animals in captivity, This reduction in
vocalizations is due in part to the effect of the echo caused by the walls of the pools where
dolphins are defined. The high noise frequency surround them for hours a day accompanied by the
loss of socialization through their echolocation causes then even more stress and sadness. This
alone can lead to one of these animals dying involuntarily, or even at their doing. Those who may
think dolphins are only animals who will later forget about the process of being captured or that
don t recognize the sounds

The Indian Independence Movement
The history of the Indian Independence Movement against the British in the 20th Century was
evidently influenced and motivated by the underlying differences and perceptions of communal
identities. The freedom struggle in essence was also an assertion of the interests and aspirations of
the diverse communities of the Indian subcontinent. The Indian National Congressand the Muslim
League were the two big powers that sought to mobilize public sentiments in the quest for
Independence. While the Muslim League (formed in 1906), stood as a symbol of Islamic
nationalism, the INC on the other hand was seen as pro Hindu (with a strong influence of radical
groups like the Hindu Mahasabha).
Mohammad Ali Jinnah, initially a Congress nationalist, joined the Muslim League in 1913 in order
to align the views of the two communities in their collective struggle for freedom. The result was
The Lucknow Pact which laid down the constitutional framework of seat and power sharing
arrangements for elections to the Provincial Legislative Councils. Muslims were provided with
separate electorates and one third representation in the Central government. Congress that claimed
to fight only for secular goals and considered religion as a private matter of individual granted the
separate electorates for Muslim went against their very own ideologies. This lead to the settlement
of differences between the two parties and immediate goal of both the parties through the pact
called for greater autonomy as a

Following the Civil War, several U.S. states made initial attempts in regulating immigration, which led to the 1875 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court to make the immigration a federal responsibility, thus launching a chain of Immigration laws and regulations leading us to today. The first immigration law, the Page Act of 1875 (aka the Asian Exclusion Act) was passed in 1875 and prohibited the importation of Asian contract workers, any Asian women who would engage in prostitution and everybody who is considered to be a convict in their own county. The Page Act of 1875 was followed by the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act, which prohibited Chinese contract laborers to immigrate to the United States, as well as Alien Contract Labor laws of 1885 and 1887, both of which broadened the laborers exclusion list. Soon after, the increasingly complex immigration laws established by the federal government led to the creation of the Office of the Superintendent of Immigration within the Treasure Department. The newly organized government office inspected, admitted or rejected as well as processed all the newly arriving immigrants. World Systems Theory By Sociologist Immanuel Wallerstein In the perspective of world systems theory, the United States is considered a core country, whereas the global South (Africa, Latin America, and evolving Asia including the Middle East) contains a multitude of peripheral countries. With such extensive poverty impeding the progress of countries within the global South, it is possible that the United Statescan provide effective assistance. However, an explanation must be presented to express how these core countriesand peripheral countries become just that, in order to determine how they can change their status. This paper intends to address how countries grow, how the US can aid the global South in the struggle of poverty, and the possibility of altering trade policies to eventually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to sovereignty, there are two types: internal and external. Internal sovereignty occurs within your borders, whilst external sovereignty is when other countries recognize this total autonomous power that has accumulated. Wallerstein agreed with the concept of less borders and more commonalities. He theorized that the core and the periphery should think and act more as a whole rather than different parts, as those parts affect the outcome of the same machine. Therefore, it would stand to reason that if the United States were to assist the global South in reducing poverty, that it would actually be beneficial for the system as a whole. US aid: In the current world economy, core countries such as the US go through increases in wages, employment, and general prosperity. However, when this phase comes to an end, it is the peripheral countries that bear the burden. (Wallerstein, 30) For example, let s say that the US produces a product. The production of this good does quite well, until there is a tipping point, otherwise known as an overproduction . The product is manufactured at such a high rate that it surpasses the actual demand for said good. Due to the surplus, the prices become more competitive and continue to decline, which means that there is less of a profit. So, core countries then outsource their production processes to ... The project will include borrowing massive tunnels through the mountain s inner rock and then placing the storage tanks inside. Obviously, there is much public concern over the project. One of the largest concerns is the possibility of seismic activity rupturing the tunnel and/or canisters. At present, the 104th US Congress, house Resolution 1924 proposed to make Hanford, Washington, the western US site for temporary storage, and it would be by default the permanent disposal place of spent nuclear fuel from US reactors. This resolution stemmed from a growing recognition that Yucca Mountains, in Nevada, is a less than brilliant location for this purpose. The US government has no fallback position should the project at Yucca Mountain fail. Yucca Mountain is not a sound solution for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Receivers can be GPS in a car, a chip located in a cell phone, military tracking devises, police radios, or even something as every day as a watch. The distance between the satellite and receiver is measured using the exact distance from six different satellites that locates a particular receiver on a particular path at the intersection of the two satellites. The exact distance and time that it takes to measure the distance is tracked and formulated to produce the exact longitudinal and latitudianl axis of the person being located. As complicated as the mathematical procedures sounds, the radio signals are transmitted instantaneously and the close approximate location of a subject is known at once.9 Background The first GPS satellite was created and launched in 1978, it was referred to as Block I (fig.2) 8. The protection scheme is crucial against faults based on traditional over current protection since there are adequate problems due to fault currents in the mode of operation. This paper adopts a new approach for detection, discrimination of the faults for multi terminal transmission line protection in presence of hybrid generation. Transient current based protection scheme is developed with discrete wavelet transform. Fault indices of all phase currents at all terminals are obtained by analyzing the detail coefficients of current signals using bior 1.5 mother wavelet. This scheme is tested for different types of faults and is found effective for detection and discrimination of fault with various fault inception angle and fault impedance. • 33. Environmental Factors Affect The Daintree Rainforest Introduction Information The Daintree rainforest is one of the oldest, surviving tropical rainforests in Queensland, with it being about 165 million years old. The Daintree forest had its name formed by photographer, Richard Daintree. Tropical rainforests will always receive substantial amounts of rain. How big is the Daintree rainforest? With it on the northeast coast of Queensland, it surprisingly measures at around 1200 square kilometres. Environmental Factors: Many environmental factors that affect the Daintree Lowland rainforest include fragmentation, climate change, weeds, and dead animals. Climate change can have huge impacts on the rainforest because most species of animals live in the cooler upland of the rainforest, which is a concern for both the rainforest and the organisms. This is because scientists plan to remove the animal s habitats (where they live). Weeds in the Daintree rainforest have increased dramatically. It has effected the animal s food, due to some or most animals having reduced food portions. Another effect would be that dead weeds create soil erosion near the upper inlands of the rainforest, which alternatively decreases the animal s chances of survival. Dead animals such as; snakes and hawks that are within the forest are a great initiative because larger species of animals like crocodiles that live in the Cooper Creek can decompose (eat) the remains of these smaller animals, and it creates food barriers so that other species can decompose ... For the 1994 FIFA WOrldCup. It was officially formed in 1995. When the league first started to play in 1996 they started with 10 teams. The investor/operators control their teams as owners control teams in other leagues, and are commonly (but inaccurately) referred to as the team s owners. • 47. Nommo Literature Review Nommo is the generating and sustaining powers of the creative word, which is manifested in characteristics of African orality (Bates, Redrawing Afrocentrism: Visual Nommo in George H. Ben Johnson s Editorial Cartoons). Orality is the notion that the word has power and force (Howard). In this literature review, I will review the key theorists who analyze the oratory of Nommo and their specific definitions of Nommo. In addition, this review will make note of the evolution of Nommo and its different applications. Lastly, this review will close with the explanation of the significance of Nommo to communicationstudies. Various scholars study the idea of Nommo and the following is the ways they define it. Theorist Molefi Assante defines Nommo as the word, which hold a transforming power of vocal expression. Asante also says that Nommo differs from the Greek concept logos, in that Nommo includes creative arts, such as literature, orature, and painting. These scholars define Nommo as the creative power of the spoken word, which brings about harmony and balance (Cummings). Cummings and Roy also states that Nommo goes beyond the mere use of words, phrases, or linguistic conventions; it also signifies creating and sustaining of language that inform every facet of African Americanlife. Sheena Howard defines Nommo as a delivery style that is unique to African Americans. Nommo is also defined as not only telling a story through spoken word, but it gives the story heart, lungs ... • 48. The Importance Of Citizenship In The United States The citizenship clause was adopted through the 14th amendment to the constitution in July of 1868. The story of the citizenship clause in the United States is the story of the Civil War. In Dred Scott vs. Sandford, the Supreme Court decision that arguably concluded a war inevitable, the justices found that black people even those born in the United Stateswere not considered citizens. Black people were considered an inferior class of people, who had been overpowered by the dominant race and had no rights but such as those who held the power and the Government might choose to grant them. This clause represented Congress s reversal of a portion of the Dred Scott vs. Sandford decision which had declared that African Americans could not become citizens of the United States. After the Civil War, Congress overruled Dred Scott and passed the 14th Amendment granting birthright citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof , before this every state decided the citizenship of a person. The United States and Canada are the only nations that allow birthright citizenship, no matter the legal status of the parents giving them full United States citizenship. This clause was originally designed to give birthright citizenship to formerly enslaved people and their children. But the Supreme Court confirmed in a later ruling, it also gives citizenship to anyone born in America, even in cases where the parents aren t citizens of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To keep this idea their target audience was teenagers, younger, fresher, with more money to spend. Young people had their own spending power as consumers, following the hard times of the war, when, it seemed, everyone had a lot more money than anticipated and wanted to spend it on fashions and lifestyles. A new group of people to suck into the ever expanding trade, looking for heroes to follow, and interests to pursue, Levi s used this opportunity and has drawn repeatedly on the idea of the rebel . Levi s new advertising campaign introduced a creative new idea, involving a man and a woman recreating the impression of 50s America. All the advertisements in this series revolved around this same idea of people finding the person wearing the jeans desirable. The scenarios ranged from launderettes to beaches, all featuring an emphasis on physical attraction and most of them set in a public place. However Levis didn t predict what sort of impact this commercial campaign would bring to the population of teenagers. The result was massive, the number of Button Fly 501 s sold in 1987 was over 20 times that of 1984, due to this break through in commercial advertising. The customs and beliefs of the Ancient Egyptians called for the preservation of the body and extensive provisions for the after life which were buried with them in the tomb. The Canopic Shrine positioned on the east wall of the Treasury holds Tutankhamun s embalmed internal organs. A gold chest held four Canopic jars containing the dead pharaoh s internal organs in each jar. Undoubtedly, through the process of mummification, the embalmers must have removed the internal organs and preserved them in the Canopic jars, perhaps to be taken with the pharaoh to the next world. The third and innermost of three coffins of Tutankhamun is made of solid gold and is inset with semiprecious stones and coloured glass. It is covered with carved decorations and inscriptions inside and outside. It bears the names and epitaph of the deceased king and also protective texts. From this we discover the significance of the importance of the decoration of the mummy was, and the power the coffin was believed to hold. Originally, mummification was so expensive that it was a privilege enjoyed only by the Pharaoh and few nobles. Everybody else was given a simple grave burial in one of the vast cemeteries or necropolises of the time. But the promise of eternal life was so appealing that it wasn t long before other classes of Egyptians began signing up for mummification, too. • 53. Rome s Paramount Architectural Accomplishments Essay Many of Rome s paramount architectural accomplishments can be found in, and around Italy. These sites include the Pantheon, the Arch of Titus, the Mausoleum of Hadrian, the Roman Forum, and Ancient Roman Aqueducts, along with the Colosseum. Many of these architectural feats have been replicated throughout Roman territory. Their domain stretched all over Europe, Northern Africa, and even into the Middle East. Today we are still able to enjoy much of Rome s artistry, which can be linked to the how their engineers manufactured these monuments. Roman architects created structurally sound buildings by making use of the vault, and the arch. These engineers also created concrete, a binding agent holding the structures together. All of these forms were later replicated throughout the empire (Lake Oswego School District, 2012:1). The remains of one such Roman architectural achievement, was unearthed in DurrГ«s, Albania in 1966 (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:570; Bowes et al., 2003:381; Ponce de Leon, 2013:3; UNESCO, 2004:34). The Roman amphitheater happens to be the largest in the Balkans, and contains several frescos, which helped to track Christianity as it spread throughout the region (Jacques, 1995:154; Ponce de Leon, 2013:3). Currently this remarkable stadium is under consideration from UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Dolphins on the other hand make the choice to take each and every breath, and when they become too stressed or overwhelmed, they will choose not to take that next breathe. Ongoing stress and the loss of space to swim in dolphinariums is demeaning to the incredible creatures and leads to many taking their lives or becoming something they were never designed to be. From the capturing process, to the living and training spaces, to the continuously forced performances they are required to do daily, these animals face an uncounted for amount of stress. The capturing process allows men to heard groups of dolphins together and trap them into small coves with nets and boats, then hand picking the wanted ones and dragging them away to never see open waters again. Project Orangutan talks about the capturing and the stress it inflicts on these animals, .. during the capturing process itself as they get entangled in nets and suffocate, others may die from stress. Not only do these animals recognize the loss of movement but the death of their friends around them. If the stress of being taken away from their home wasn t enough, they are then forced to live in concrete cells with no sound reflection. To us that seems fine but when your strongest sense is hearing and string enough to detect the difference between a ping pong ball and golf ball, the constant screaming and splashing of water around you begins to take a toll. Dolphins use a type of sound detection called echolocation, which can be damaged through time by the living conditions of dolphinariums. Dolphinproject.com talks about the lessening of sounds and vocalization of these animals in captivity, This reduction in vocalizations is due in part to the effect of the echo caused by the walls of the pools where dolphins are defined. The high noise frequency surround them for hours a day accompanied by the loss of socialization through their echolocation causes then even more stress and sadness. This alone can lead to one of these animals dying involuntarily, or even at their doing. • 56. The Indian Independence Movement The history of the Indian Independence Movement against the British in the 20th Century was evidently influenced and motivated by the underlying differences and perceptions of communal identities. The freedom struggle in essence was also an assertion of the interests and aspirations of the diverse communities of the Indian subcontinent. The Indian National Congressand the Muslim League were the two big powers that sought to mobilize public sentiments in the quest for Independence. While the Muslim League (formed in 1906), stood as a symbol of Islamic nationalism, the INC on the other hand was seen as pro Hindu (with a strong influence of radical groups like the Hindu Mahasabha). Mohammad Ali Jinnah, initially a Congress nationalist, joined the Muslim League in 1913 in order to align the views of the two communities in their collective struggle for freedom. The result was The Lucknow Pact which laid down the constitutional framework of seat and power sharing arrangements for elections to the Provincial Legislative Councils. Muslims were provided with separate electorates and one third representation in the Central government. Congress that claimed to fight only for secular goals and considered religion as a private matter of individual granted the separate electorates for Muslim went against their very own ideologies.
