The skills that are considered denied are from a lack of education. Education is an important factor
in the advancement of an individual. The more an individual knows the better he or she will
succeed in society. Education is a tool that Black America must use for social change, to educate its
youths, and to correct the mis education of and about the Black Community (Henry, Calvin O.L.

development of black males. According to, Baltimore Chronicle and Sentinel writer, Phillip
Jackson: The successful education process starts with the family in the home and community, and
continues in school and throughout life. The extent to which Black parents become actively
involved in the education of Black male children is the extent to which the destruction of
potentially millions of young Black men will stop. When young Black men realize they have
become expendable, are we ready for their reaction? The United States does not tolerate young
Black men being unproductive or counter productive to the goals of mainstream society. Black
males are suspended, expelled and failed in schools at rates that are two to five times higher than
students of other races and go to jail at rates five to ten times higher than people of other races

Examples Of Manifest Destiny
Manifest destiny was a term used to describe the belief that United States settlers were destined to
expand across the nation. This concept not only affected American politics and government but the
public also. One of the first major examples of manifest destiny in the nineteenth century was
Thomas Jefferson s purchase of the Louisiana Territory. President Jefferson wanted to shrink the
size of the government and only use limited powers. However, his decision utilized a tremendous
amount of executive power, in which Federalists felt that he was wasting taxpayer money and
abusing his authority. Eventually, Jefferson believed that what he was doing was right because it
would double the size of the US for expansion. The Louisiana Purchase in 1803 drove both the
population and the economy to the west. Another example of manifest destinyin the United States
was the Indian Removal Act by President Andrew Jackson, which authorized him to reserve land
west of the Mississippi and exchange it for Native American land east of the Mississippi. Manifest
destiny in the mid nineteenth century affected politics and government by... Show more content on

In 1823, the Monroe Doctrine, by 5th President James Monroe, stated that the US would not
interfere with European nations. Later on, in 1946 1948 the Mexican War was fought between
Mexico and the United States. One of the main causes of the war was the annexation of Texas. As
a result of manifest destiny and America s desire to expand westward a conflict with Indian tribes
arose. President Jackson s Indian Removal Act fabricated a dispute between a portion of the
Americans and the Indians. Some tribes did not agree to move from their territories and as a result,
wars broke out between them and the US Government. Consequently, westward expansion caused
many disputes between foreign countries and Indian

Theme Analysis of the play Trifles Essay
A play can be analyzed in multiple ways. One of these ways is through the play s theme. The theme
of a work is often a statement about life and the human condition. In the play Trifles by Susan
Glaspell, the theme noticing the little things can make a difference can be explained through plot,
character, and setting.
The theme can be developed through the plot. In Trifles, Mr. Wright was found murdered in his
bed, so the police arrested his wife. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, neighbors of the Wrights, went to
Mrs. Wright s house to pick up some things for her while she was in jail. As they were looking
for Mrs. Wright s sewing kit, the women found a birdcage with its door torn open in the cupboard.
After looking some more, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wright as the murderer.
Along with plot, character can help develop the theme. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters say that Mrs.
Wright used to be lively and social, and used to sing in the choir. However, Mrs. Wright now
stays in her home most of the time. The women also say that Mr. Wright was a hard man. He
might have made Mrs. Wright give up her friends and her singing. When Mrs. Wright got a canary,
Mr. Wright might have strangled it because he did not like its singing. Mrs. Wright might then have
murdered Mr. Wright for taking away the one thing she had left.
Setting can also be used to develop the theme. The setting in the play was Mrs. Wright s kitchen.
The Wrights house was isolated, down in a hollow. The isolation, coupled with not going to
town any more, might have felt terrible for Mrs. Wright. In the 1920 s, the woman s place was
traditionally in the kitchen, so any clues about Mrs. Wright would be in her kitchen. She had left
a mess out in the kitchen: a half wiped table, unwashed pots and pans, a dishtowel lying out, and
a misplaced loaf of bread. Mrs. Wright would only have left a mess if she was in a hurry or was
interrupted, such as by Mr. Wright coming in and killing the canary.
Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters showed that noticing the little things could make a difference. By
noticing the mess in the kitchen and finding the strangled canary, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters were
able to figure out that Mrs. Wright killed Mr.

Bell California Case Study
Bell California is a small community located south east of Los Angeles California. In the
summer of 2009 that was caught up in a corruption scandal. The city manager Robert Rizzo was
making $800,000 a year, and the Chief of Police Randy Adams was making $457,000 a year much
more than even the Chief of Police of the Los Angeles Police Department makes, (Coolican, 2010).
The citycouncil to include the mayor of the city were all part time employees at the municipality
only making monthly meetings and small political tasks, however, each garnered around $100,000
annually. The Town was an of modest income and where not wealthy people, so the tax base did
not support the pay of these city officials. The Bell City Mayor Oscar Hernandez defended the
salaries saying that since the city manager came the city went from being in defect near bankruptcy
and now has nearly $ 15 million in the general fund, also the streets are cleaner and better lighting
throughout the city, (Gottlieb, Vives, 2010).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem was that when Rizzo came into office, he cut budgets, and excess which would be
good, except he took the funds and exploited them for his gain, he also paid off city council and
department heads to get them to go along. Part of the problem was that the State of California did
little to regularly audit federal awards and other programs in small city governments, allowing
Rizzo to run wild for years, (Leder Luis,

Essay On Coming Of Age
Coming of age is an important event that occurs in every person s life. It happens in every
individual differently affecting everyone s life differently. Whether when a person stops seeing the
world as this perfect place and starting to accept the fact that with the good in this world bad
fellows, or understanding the world better, Harper Lee illustrates the theme of coming of age
perfectly. Over the course of the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, we see the main characters Scout and
Jem start to come of age in different events of the book. Both Scout and Jem experience Coming
of Age differently. Throughout the book, both characters understand the world better while losing
their innocence. Especially when talking about Boo Radley both characters realize that Boo
wasn t locked up because he was a dad stabbing monster, it s because he wanted to as Jem said
because Boo could no longer stand this cruel world, in this scene both Scout and Jem realize that
the spooky stories they have been told about Boo weren t true. Therefore, they lost their innocence

this is a perfect world. But when coming of age they will/already are losing that innocence and
understanding the fact that not everyone is equal. It s important they know this because one day
they may not be treated fairly as well. Harper Lee clearly knows this, which is why she wrote To

All of these functions essentially provide a substitute for human effort. Due to the widespread
consumption of petrol based liquid fuel, an incredibly large global infrastructure and set of
surrounding institutions have grown around the support of such consumption. The petrochemical
fuel industry manifests itself in the form of oil п¬Ѓelds and reserves, pipelines, transport ships, and
fueling stations. The way energy is used worldwide is not sustainable. It is well documented that
the use of these fuels is depleting the world s natural resource reserves, harming communities in
terms of health and displacement, and polluting the air and water in local environments. The
drilling, refining, and transporting of oil leads to spills on land and in oceans, and when petrol
based fuels are used to power machines and automobiles, the air is polluted with greenhouse gases
and particulate matter such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur, and nitrous oxide
emissions. In spite of the drawbacks, the current energy industry is committed to the continuation of
these ways, primarily because of considerable assets and investment in the existing form of
infrastructure. The challenge, which became clear to the team from class discussion and further
brainstorming, is to п¬Ѓnd a form of fuel or technology that can mitigate the current negative
affects on the environment of petrol based fuel while utilizing the existing infrastructure. The
urgency of this challenge is heightened by the

Rick And Morty Advertisement Analysis
Imagine a grandpa barging into his grandson s bedroom at four in the morning while human sized
slobbering hamburgers continue to enter the bedroom. This is the basis of the thirty second
Hardee s commercial aired on youtube and Adult Swim. The ad heavily relies on the comedic
factor of the cartoon characters from the hit TV show Rick and Morty from Adult Swim. The ad
uses literal and arrangement elements, comedy, and the rhetorical triangle to appeal to the audience
to get them to want to dine at Hardee s with their new hamburger. The Hardee s Rick and Morty
advertisement starts with a shot of Morty, the young boy, in his bedroom which is mostly clean but

One by one, the life size hamburgers walk in slobbering on the floor. After this segment, a
Hardee s real photo ad of a hamburger shows up briefly. Many literal elements are visible during
the cartoon segment of the video ad. Color is depicted and is for the most part has a range of
colors used but the colors are primarily muted combined with a few pops of reds. Lines are very
curved on every living thing in the cartoon, but lines to depict the room outlines and furniture
are straight. Since it is a cartoon, there is not much texture as a whole except for elements that
crease like blankets and clothing. As for spacing, objects are tightly packed and cluttered, which
creates little space especially after the hamburgers occupy the once open space. Along with literal
elements, there are also many arrangement elements in this commercial. Since the commercial is
set in only one room and one angle, it is in one point perspective. The commercial opens in
Morty s bedroom where the audience can only see three walls to see all the action and Rick flies
in and yells and they have dialogue with each other but never address the audience which makes it
in third person. Most of the emphasis is put on the big slobbering

Philosophical Travel Journal
I am writing this journal with the goal of recounting my travels to different philosophical societies.
Remarkably, each one of the three societies I was privileged enough to travel to r igidly followed a
renowned philosophy. These were the philosophies of Plato, Soren Kierkegaard, and Friedrich
Nietzsche.
The Republic
The first society I visited was that of Plato
s philosophy. The residents were very kind and sought out true meanings of different vi rtues solely
by dialectic. They structured their city much the same way that
Plato structured the renowned
Republic
. Plato said that a just city would involve each man doing his own work, or specializing in a certain
task. The cobbler would be a cobbler, the builder would be a builder, the farmer a farmer, and so on
an d so forth. Each of these focused on his work and in such a way maximized outpu t, as is
logical. The army protecting that city stood as a c ourageous wall around it, ready to defend it
whenever necessary. The soldiers
training was intense, focusing not only on physical exercise but also on the arts. By being brought
up with training both in the arts and in physical exercise,
Plato believed t hese soldiers would be both courageous and wise. Indeed, they were. The city was
very confident in its guardians, knowing full well that should war be declared, it would be re
solved by reason or, if all else failed, a

conditions, for instance, her being held for a couple of days on a bridge on the edges of Yangon
in 1998 and again in 2000, and being denied a ticket on a train to Mandalay in 2000, which was
the reason she was returned to home confinement in August 2000 (Wilson). It s difficult to

Romantic love in teens is simply a conventional mismatch of an over exaggerated emotion. To state
in pure words, romantic love is a strong feeling of affection, concern, and care towards another

recognition, as well as many other influential feelings. Different people have different perspectives
and thoughts as to what romantic lovetruly is, and whether or not it is simply an overstated

A portion of the teenagers brains called the nucleus accumbens is usually developed early on,
and this section is responsible for seeking pleasure and reward. According to Molly Edmonds, a
representative from Teenage Brain Development, discussed that, In imaging studies that
compared brain activity when a subject received a small, medium or large award, teenagers
exhibited exaggerated responses to medium and large rewards compared to children and adults
(Document H). As illustrated in this quote, due to the less developed brain regions of teenagers,
they are more likely to submit to their impulses, rather than curb any appeal to do so. This
results in them weighing more value to the relationship, compared to the origin and emotions
within it. In the article Beautiful Brains , a development psychologist named Laurence
Steinberg performed a test, and the results concluded that, They (teenagers) didn t take more
chances because they suddenly downgraded the risk. They did so because it gave more weight
to the payoff (Document D). This quote exemplifies that teenagers are less concerned about the
risks involved in their actions, and rather linger on the outcome which they will eventually
receive. In a recent study by Beatriz Luna, a professor of psychiatry, it was declared that, This
(use of more brain regions) lets the adults use a variety of brain resources and better resist
temptation, while the teens used those areas less often and more readily gave in to the impulse to
look at the flickering light just as they re more likely to look away from the road to read a text
message (Document D). The use of this quote helps portray the effect of the undeveloped prefrontal
cortex on teenagers. As the prefrontal

Should A Motorcycle Be An Outlaw That Is The Question
To Be or Not To Be an Outlaw That Is the Question As a result of many years of growing up around
fast cars and motorcycles, I became very interested in learning how to ride a motorcycle. Of course,
once I was old enough to learn to ride my parents feared the idea of their oldest child being on a
bike because of the risk of being hurt or even at the worst case of death. But, that never changed my
mind on getting a motorcycle. So once I saved for several years. The day had finally come; I was
so excited I could not wait to purchase a motorcycle. So my husband and I went to go look at a

The first type of signal that is used to indicate that someone sees a cop is to pat the top of their

of signal is the hand signals to show the people riding in the group on if they are turning left or

turning right is extend the left upper arm out to the left horizontally and angle your forearm
vertically. The hand signs for left and right are almost always done when the patch member has

the extra signals are to ensure others on the road can see what the members on the motorcycles

anyone. Also in an MC there are guidelines for how the group is supposed to ride. In the MC world

way to ride is for the safety of the people in the group. The stagger style is more known in the

years, questions like these have been asked: How do we keep ourselves healthy? In which ways
should we keep ourselves healthy? Is healthcare a right, or a commodity? What is health ? Even
today, these questions are hotly debated. However, as our country becomes more industrialized, and

The first article I read was titled Education, Health, and the Default American Lifestyle, was
written by John Mirowsky and Catherine E. Ross. The main idea of this article was to articulate
that education has the ability to override the default American lifestyle, which has has three
elements to it: displacing human energy with mechanical energy, displacing household food
production with industrial food production, and displacing health maintenance with with medical
dependency. Overall, the paper says that in order to get out of an unhealthy lifestyle, you need to
recognize the risks, which require some form of higher education. According to this paper though,
health is being vigorous, vital, and fit . According to the Symbolic Interactionist, that isn t what
every culture would say health is. Some may say that being a little overweight is a sign of good
fortune. While the paper does make a good argument that education is the most important
influence on health, I do not think is it the overall single most important impact. One can be
educated, but can still be turned down for a job, therefore leaving them without insurance or
health care. Education isn t always the deciding factor in what you re going to get. Race, wealth,
and gender also play a very big role, arguably bigger

Water Pollution on Lake Huron
Introduction
Pollution is the presence of dangerous and unwanted substances in the ecosystem that causes
imbalance and health hazards to the living. Water pollution is the presence of unwanted
substances or particles in water, which causes imbalance in water systems. Lake Huron is among
the largest fresh water sources in the States located in North America. Lake Huron is one of the
most polluted fresh water lakes in America. It covers about 189 000 kilometers squared, and it is a
component of the Lauretian Great Lakes. It drains to the Atlantic Ocean through St. Lawrence
River. It receives an inflow from Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, while it drains to Lake Erie.
The population surrounding the lake is about 3 million, which also contribute to its pollution
(Ylvisaker 28). Pollution of Lake Huron has been over the years either through direct point sources
or through non point indirect sources (Saxena 1116). Direct point sources include sewage treatment
firms and industries, which direct their wastes directly into Lake Huron and its tributaries.
Nonpoint sources indirectly pollute water from the Lake, and majorly caused by man s activities
and land policies applied by the man.
Sources of pollution The major source of pollution in Lake Huron is the sewage. Sewage treatment
firms release their wastes directly into the Lake, and may contain harmful substances such as
mercury, lead and magnesium, if released

Their names are Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. Sattva is known as pure happiness and knowledge. It
helps us free from all sinful reactions that can later lead to happiness and knowledge. Rajas are
known to be full of passion with intense desires. It helps us control our selfish desires. Tamas are
known to be the darkness and crudeness. They are the ones who are born with ignorance and
madness. Higher worlds are Sattva, middle worlds are rajas, and lower worlds are tamas. Each
of the three Gunas try to have higher power, and overpower one another. They are responsible of
the behavior of all living things. The goal of the three Gunas is to create a bondage through

actions in all beings. Instead of just putting these practices into use we should go beyond our own
expectations. The one who is successful with all three Gunas is a qualified devotee. Therefore, we
must begin our journeys into this world.

Heuristic Thinking Is The Refined Mental Process People...
Heuristic thinking is the refined mental process people use when faced with an alternative. Such
decisions are typically made quickly and unconsciously. Quickly making a decision without
thinking through every detail can be advantageous but it can lead to biases and inconsistencies.
There are four common biases caused by heuristics; relative comparisons, availability,
representativeness, and affective. The first bias, relative comparison, is when people criticize
based off of correlation or affiliation. Strictly speaking, a person will form their conclusion
around comparing their condition to the similar conditions of others. Relative correlation is
constructed of a system of anchors and framing. Anchoring is when a person takes easily
accessible information and reasonably bases their decision within the parameters of that
information. People will tend to base their answers depending on how the question was
constructed. For example, if someone was asked whether the US population was above or
below a hundred million, they would more than likely give a smaller population size then if they
were asked if the population of the US was above or below seven hundred million. Framing is
when a person bases their decision on either the loss or gain to be held from a possible outcome of
a decision. As such, person is typically more concerned about repercussions rather than the actually
benefits of a decision. Second is availability heuristic, which is basing a decision off of

Development Of Generic Product And Approval
Generally, an ANDA sponsor of the topical dermatological product has to undergo multiple
review cycles with the FDA before the product gets approved and the sponsor has to wait for a
longer time mostly. Even though the ICH CTD, ICH Q8 describes the generation of product
development report, it is not still clear to ANDA sponsors how this actually applies. As a result,
more internal meetings and discussions between the sponsors and the FDA delays the product
approval. One of the ways to overcome these challenges is to have a product development report
with verified and justified specifications based on the QbD efforts which can help the Office of

The foremost criteria in developing a generic topical dermatological product is to meet the
pharmaceutical and therapeutic equivalency of the RLD. A therapeutic equivalence is the one
which has the same clinical effect and safety profile as given in the label of the RLD and a
pharmaceutical equivalence is the one which contains identical amount of same active ingredient
corresponding to the same route of administration in the same dosage form with similar
mechanism of release and similar rate and extent of the absorption of the RLD. The current
paradigm to get an approval by an ANDA sponsor is by proving the therapeutic equivalence to the
RLD by testing whereas the proposed QbD approach requires the sponsors to meet the equivalence
on the basis of defined design targets. More specifically, a well defined rational approach behind
each testing is required for proving the pharmaceutical equivalence and bioequivalence [18].
When talking about the design of equivalence of a generic dermatological topical product, the
criteria for Q1 and Q2. Additionally, in some cases, the Q3 criteria has to be satisfied in addition

be a feasible option if the patent of the RLD is considerably protected. In such cases, the generic

Modern-day Indian Breaking the Shackles of Caste and the...
Breaking the Shackles of Caste and the Past
Aravind Adiga effectively captures the true image of modern India through the story of the fictional
character Balram Halwai. The novel takes the reader through the struggles of class that exist in
India at a time when the country is undergoing rapid modernization and globalization. The novel
contradicts the exotic image of India that is generally represented in literature (for example, the
stories of Rudyard Kipling.) Instead the novel familiarizes us with the complications that have
emerged in modern India in the last half century post independence and the abolition of
untouchability.
Throughout the novel Balram Halwai, the protagonist and the narrator, alludes to the issue of
social mobility in the new social hierarchy of India. He discusses how the social hierarchy has
undergone massive changes since the colonial times. Like we learned in class, there is
considerable social mobility among the castes in India today (Week 5, Lecture 1). Adiga illustrates
this transition and clash of ideologies in relation to caste beautifully through the various characters.
On one hand is Mr. Ashok, who having being educated in America believes that the caste system is
a thing of the past and on the other hand is his father, who still believes that caste lines are rigid
and cannot be dissolved.
Balram (like most other characters in the novel) believes in strict caste hierarchy and that India in

An Exegesis Of Genesis 3 Essay
The following essay I will be conducting an exegesis of Genesis 3; 1 12 in its ancient and modern
context. I will be analysing themes that run throughout the text and the importance of these themes
in identifying the meaning of this passage. Genesis 3 revolves around the fall of creation, in this
essay I will analysing the fall and the roles the characters play in the fall and evaluate the fall of
humanity and the implications this has modern society.
Serpent is repeated throughout the Bible for example, Deuteronomy 32:33 ( Their wine is the
venom of serpents, the deadly poison of cobras. ) and Job 20; 14 ( yet his food will turn sour in
his stomach; it will become the venom of serpents within him. ) These are a few examples of this
repetition , suggests that the serpent is important within the Bible however he is always
mentioned in reference to evil. The serpent plays an important role in this passage , as he the
instigator of the fall in which he tempts Eve to eat from the forbidden tree. He challenges the
credibility of God by convincing Eve to eat from the tree, which presents God as being devious
which contradicts the omnibenevolent God presented by Christianity. John E. Toews agrees as he
argues that at the conclusion of the dialogue the issue is can God be trusted? Has God been
completely truthful with humans? A pious question about God is really a very cunning question
because it forces the woman to render a judgment about God. The serpent could be seen as a

The Theories Of Cognitive Development On The Curriculum...
This paper will briefly describe the targeted instructional setting that is the foundation for the
discussion that follows. Then this paper will present the implications of several theories of
cognitive development on the curriculum and instructional strategies used within the targeted
instructional setting. These include the cognitive development theories of Jean Piagetand Lev
Vygotsky, among others. Based on these theories, two recommended adjustments to the curriculum
content for the targeted instructional setting will be presented along with a justification for the
recommendations. This is followed by a recommendation of two instructional strategies for the
targeted instructional setting and a justification for the recommendation.
Wy east Middle School (Wy east) is the targeted instructional setting for this paper. Wy east is an
urban middle school that serves grades six through eight. Wy east is a Title 1 school in Step 5 of

The Importance of Literacy Essay
Is it important to be a literate person in today s society? The ability to function well depends on
whether or not a person is literate and can comprehend what is going on around them. If a person
doesn t have the basic ability to read, they will feel the stress and dependency on others because of
their illiteracy. Illiteracy is a big problem because without the knowledgeof reading, illiterate people
can t perform daily tasks and responsibilities in daily life. When all it would take is a mere two
minutes out of your day, don t you think illiteracy can be helped or even extinguished? In today s
society illiterate people are looked at as half citizens (Kozol 190). They are dependent on literate
people to function daily. Think... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem is not only that illiterate people are dependent on others, it s also that the literate,
well functioning people of society aren t always willing to put forth help. Help may only take a
few minutes out of someone s day, and to them be no big deal. For an illiterate person, those few
minutes may be the defining of their lives. As an example, I will talk briefly about my cousin,
born into a broken home and forced to deal with illiteracy on a daily basis. Steven was brought
up in a bad neighborhood and raised by the streets. His family simply didn t care about anything
other than how they would afford their next bottle of booze or pack of cigarettes. Growing up, he
was never told he had to go to school; therefore, he only went on occasion. His lack of schooling
in his younger years took its toll on him by the time he hit high school. Living in a bad
neighborhood and brought up by gangs, Steven s life was in a bad condition.
After dropping out of high school in his sophomore year, Steven attempted to get a job, but
without a diploma or a license this was just close to impossible for him. In desperate need of a
job, to support his growing family, Steven took to the streets and made money the only way he
knew how. After several months, he was living the good life, until the day came that changed his
life forever. He ended up selling drugs to an undercover police officer and was sent to jail for three
years.

Stereotyping In Seedfolks
The characters in the novel Seedfolks have many different backgrounds and stories. Because of
all the diversity in cultures, personalities, and knowledge, the people in Seedfolks have to deal
with a lot of stereotyping. The characters in Seedfolks help each other to overcome the
challenges they face because of this. Sam, Maricela, and Amir are all characters who experience
stereotyping in Seedfolks. Sam sees stereotyping often in the community, and he wants to fix it.
He frequently notices that people judge him because he is both Caucasian and Jewish, so he
starts up conversations with random people. On page 31 of Seedfolks, Sam says, People see I m
friendly, no matter what they ve heard about whites or Jews. Sam knows that people are always
going to be judgemental, because that s what society has taught them, but he still tries to help
people find the good in others and spread kindness. Even if people do judge Sam, he has learned to

The Late Devonian Mass Extinction Period
Mass extinction is defined as the global decrease in diversification during a period of time reasons
due to any events that occurred in history of earth. Mass extinction occurs when a great number of
species goes into extinction globally.
The Late Devonian mass extinction is one the Big Five mass extinction in history of earth which
occurred 374.5Ma ago. This extinction event saw at least 70% of species perished; where main
victim of this extinction event were the major reef builders, stromotopoids, rugose and tabulate
corals (McGHee 2012). Causes of this mass extinction event during the late Devonian gathered a
wide variety of debate throughout the years whereby researchers researched substantial theories
supported by evidences. The few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because most of the species that extinct during this period were warm water marine
species. The sudden change in global temperature could lead to this mass extinction (Elewa
2008). Evidences of glaciation in Gondwana which were found in Northern Brazil further
strengthen and support this argument (Elewa 2008). The earth was cooled by the effects from
asteroid impacts, volcanic eruptions, biological and chemical weathering was proposed as the
cause of mass extinction (McGHee 2012). Asteroid impact causing global cooling is termed as
the impact winter theory, whereby the impact of an asteroid injects mass amount of debris, ash
and gasses into the atmosphere which blocks sunlight from reaching the earth surface causing
massive glaciation (McGHee 2012). Sweden, Siljan crater is an evidence of aestroid impact
evidence (McGHee 2012), however recent dating using conodonts stated that the asteroid impact
affecting the mass extincition is not viable as the F F boundary conodonts was deposited below
the iridium layer(Trinajstic pers. comm. 2014). The massive tectonic movement as continental
plates were merging to form super continent Gondwana, caused high volcanic activity during that
period (McGHee 2012). Volcanic activites which is termed as winter volcanic hypothesis induces
the same effect as the impact winter theory as mentioned above. An example would be the Viluy
Trap which erupted within the critical time frame in Late Devonian was one of the key
supporting evidence for this hypothesis (McGHee 2012). Biological and chemical weatherings are
two glaciation theories which occurred gradually over a longer period of time. It was believed that
it caused a reverse greenhouse effect which increased the concentration of oxygen and caused a
reduction of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Vast number of plants that bloomed during the
Devonian is one of the examples of biological

Comparing Frankenstein s Cinderella And Princess Culture
Little girls love everything about princesses: the beautiful doll replicas, the romantic love
storybooks and movies, and the glittering play clothes that come with authentic looking accessories
and adornments. But some believe that letting little girls fantasize and indulge in their princess
obsessions may bring more than pink sparkles into their lives. When Peggy Orenstein s three year
old daughter entered the princess phase , Orenstein became increasingly frustrated and concerned.
As a feminist, she worried about the negative and damaging effects the princess obsession would

But Orenstein, among other parents, believes these Disney products are affecting young girls

amount of school age girls who grew up in the presence of the very feminine Disney princesses felt

developing alluring visuals and entrancing soundtracks, and then strategically targeting them to
audiences through the use of powerful marketing campaigns. Disney Princesses have almost perfect
fairytale bodies, beautifully colored clothing, and storyline lifestyles that young girls have come to
envy. But that is not the case for princesses such as Pocahontas and Mulan. These princesses, who
are arguably the most realistic looking and normal of the bunch, are rarely seen in Princess
merchandise. Orenstein s theory is that Disney exploits only certain princesses through strong
merchandising and marketing because certain princesses have outfits and accessories that are more

The Juvenile Justice System And Juveniles
When it comes to discussing the criminal justice system and juveniles, there have been many
landmark cases that have made a significant impact on the juvenile justice system. The cases
arise from dealing with certain aspects that comes from handling juveniles entering the system.
Since juveniles are very different from adults they have to deal with them a certain way and a
case by case basis. The court cases concerning juveniles and the decisions that have come from
them is what has made what the juvenile justice system is today. Juveniles are not treated the
same as adults since juveniles are not ad developed as adults common sense wise. They don t
always know what is right from wrong and sometimes they do not have guidance or good
influences around them helping them in the right direction. In class we have learned that instead of
punishing them, the goal of the juvenile justice system is based on rehabilitation. For instance,
juveniles cannot be sentenced to death if under the age of 18 and also can not be given the
sentences of life without parole because they consider these punishments cruel and unusual for
juveniles. If the system is able to rehabilitate them and give them the tools they need, they have a
second chance at changing their lives for the better and getting away from all of the crimes. They
rather try to send them to programs or to complete community service to better themselves instead
of giving them hard time. The court cases that I will discuss is what

What Is The Decline Of Newspaper In The 1930 s
The early 1900 s could be called the consolidation era as technological changes and competition
for advertising dollars increased the competitive drive for circulation numbers. In response to
these changes, many newspaper chains grew as smaller newspapers were gobbled up and
absorbed into the chains or became obsolete. Complementing the glitz of the roaring twenties, a
new form of journalism emerged that appealed to a different type of reader with its illustrious
smaller size. But, as economic conditions worsened into the 1930 s, circulation increased while
revenues did not. This is mostly due to advertisingdollars being split between radio and television
as both gained in popularity. By 1945, newspapers had declined to their lowest and continued to
drop further alongside continued consolidation efforts into the 1970 s. While daily circulation
declined, chains and printing expenses grew. The closer we got to the turn of the century and the
digital age, readership dropped significantly as young readers pursued other options for news

The Role Of Women In William Shakespeare s Macbeth
Women were thought as second class citizens and were not given a large role in society.
Throughout history, women have a limited amount of work they are permitted to do, and are
confined to doing housework. The role women had was teaching and taking care of the children at
home, cleaning the house, and cooking and having food ready for the husbands when they come
home after work. As evidence of characterization of female characters in Macbethby William
Shakespeare, the Elizabethan period had a lack of respect for women, but Shakespeare changed it
by having powerful, strong and independent female characters, like Lady Macbeth. Throughout
history, women have not had the same amount of right and respect as the men. Women were
regarded as the weaker sex , not just in terms of physical strength, but emotionally too (Sharnette).
According to Shakespeare s World/Stage, During the time of William Shakespeare, the majority
of women had very limited rights in England. Despite the fact that England was ruled by a female
monarch for over four decades, most women had little power over the direction of their lives
(Stephan). Once women were married, they were expected to bring a dowry, which is an amount
of money, goods, or property that the bride would bring to the marriage. After marriage Elizabethan
women were expected to run the households and provide children (Alchin). At the time of
Shakespeare, England was rule as a monarch, but the father and son still ruled

Metaphors Sylvia Plath
METAPHORS SYLVIA PLATH
I m a riddle in nine syllables,
An elephant, a ponderous house,
A melon strolling on two tendrils.

Money s new minted in this fat purse.

Sylvia s Plath s Metaphors is about a woman feeling insignificant during the midst of her pregnancy

metaphors in every line, including the title itself, making the poem a collection of clues. The reader

This strong metaphor compares the narrator to the elephant who feels their fate is death. The
third part of line 4 is the fine timbers that directly relate to the house previously mentioned. The
purpose of the house fortifies the idea that what s inside is of value. The house is nothing
without its fine timbers and it is merely for protection and shelter. Just like a pregnant woman is
for her unborn child. The fifth line represents the rising loaf like a child growing inside a womb.
It is a pun on a familiar saying to pregnancy of a bun in the oven. Money s new minted in this fat
purse plays with the idea that the purse has no great value in itself but contains valuable things
inside. Line 7 explores the narrator s feelings towards having a child. She feels like a means , as if
she is just a way for the baby to be born. As a mother she is just a stage and a platform but not a
performance. She is a cow in calf, where many cows are separated from their offspring and have
little to do with their mum. The final lines seem to break away from the rest of the poem and
have a tone of darkness. After eating a bag of green apples one might feel sick especially since
green apples are considered sour. The fruit is also unripe, signifying that the narrator is not ready
to have a baby. Another point that can be found is that it is easy to see the resemblance of this
line and Eve from the Bible. Eve was tempted to eat an apple and was cursed with the

migrating from Russia and its territories due to the political persecution that they received after
the assassination of, Czar Alexander II In 1881 for which the Jews were blamed , This lead to the
deterioration of living and working conditions for the Jews. Following the assassination, mass
rebellions broke out and the situation in Russia became anarchic and chaotic for everyone.
Pogroms broke out everywhere, mainly in the form of looting; some murders and rapes were also
committed. Decades of persecution against the Jewish population followed. This upheaval of anti
Semitism coupled with deplorable economic conditions was the reason 2 millions of Jews from
Eastern Europe came to the USA
In addition laws were passed that punished the Jews for the pogroms. This led to restrictions on
Jewish landownership, prohibited Jews from living in villages, and the number of Jews studying
in secular schools was limited to 10% in the Pale of Settlement and 3 5% everywhere else. These
laws were strictly applied by the police, which lead to the Jews being embittered to the Russian
society. Subsequently In 1891, Jews were systemically expelled from Moscow in 1891

Sexualization Of Women In Video Games
Does the sexualization of women in video games affect women s self esteem and perpetuate female
stereotypes?
Annika Lindburg
Linfield College
Introduction
It is difficult to find a video game that does not depict females as a damsel in distress or a sex
object. The target audience for video games has been males, and video game companies are
marketing to males with stereotypes of females in video games. A surprising finding is that
around 150 million Americans, or almost half of women play video games (Kelleher, 2015). Yet
video games continue to depict females as old fashioned stereotypes that leave a lasting affect on a
female s health.

developers are men, which result in less sexism on purpose, and more of a diversity problem
among video game creators (Ferguson, 2015). If there were more females in the video game
industry, there would be more realistic female avatars in video games. Royse et al. (2007) argued
that the gaming industry has begun to make games for females like Dance Dance Revolution and
Eyetoy but that females are still wrongly thought of as having one perspective or experience. Since
the majority of video game writers are males, they create video games that interest them and their
target audience. Near (2013) found that predominantly male audiences identify better with a male
avatar than a female one. Thus males write a stereotypical script in which a woman is scantily clad
and needs to be saved which brings them revenue and further undermines a women s self

Ethnocentrism In Walla
In my observation of Walla Walla University I have seen ethnocentrism being a prominent part of
the campus s culture. Ethnocentrism is a commonly used word in circles where ethnicity, inter
ethnic relations, and similar social issues are of concern. The definition of ethnocentrism is the
belief that one s cultureand way of life are superior of other groups. This causes judging among
different groups and assumptions that there are inferior groups to your own. The roots of the word
are ethnic and centrism, ethnic means cultural heritage and, centrism means to the central starting
point. Put them together and ethnocentrismbasically refers to judging other groups from our own
cultural point of view. It s true we reject those outside our group, our customs, our food, our
traditions, our music, our religion, our beliefs and values. We think that our lifestyle is somehow
much better than those of other societies. The questions I found out through my observation of
WWU was why do people do this. I asked some people if they thought they were ethnocentric and
the results showed that most people think that they are not ethnocentric, but are rather open minded
to other cultures. As I will explain in my writing that this their response isn t true at all and that
everyone is ethnocentric. There is no way not to be ethnocentric and it cannot be avoided. In my
project I will cover examples of ethnocentrism in the Walla Walla University campus, describe the
functions and dysfunctions

How Does Poe Build Suspense In The Tell Tale Heart
The Tell Tale Heart Summary Imagine being haunted by one object your entire life. One object
that you can t get rid of unless you kill a nice old man. Well this is what the narrator in The Tell
Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe has to deal with. In this story the main character is haunted by the
blue eye of an old man. I bothers him so much, in fact, that he has decided to kill the old man so
that he can get rid of the eye forever. So he watches the man every night at midnight, waiting for
the perfect moment to kill him. But the eye is always closed. After about a week of watching the
old man the narrator accidentally scares him awake. The old man s heart starts to beat louder and

He said things like ... it was four o clock still dark as midnight (Poe 93). The reader can imagine
the narrator burying the body in pitch black darkness. This gives the reader a feel for the
creepiness of it all. This builds suspense in the story. The setting is also described by saying And
every night, about midnight, I turned the latch of his door (Poe 90). The reader can picture the
narrator holding his lamp and turning the door to the old man s chamber. This adds suspense
because the reader can see how creepy it is for the narrator to be doing this. And they can also

Essay On Anabolic Steroids
The use of anabolic steroids in sports
Steroids are a type of anabolic that works in the area of muscle cell construction, or may have
effects similar to those of testosterone (sex hormone male). Most of the time people who use
steroids are athletes looking to increase their muscle mass quickly. The effects of abusive use of
anabolic steroids in children and adults are difficult to occur, but can be life threatening. Basically,
all athletes who use steroids in large numbers will suffer adverse effects, such as difficulty in sperm
production or menstruation, acne, hair loss and mild psychological disorders. Many of the athletes
who believe that steroids do not reach directly through the central nervous system. These athletes

Were using anabolic steroids. Research indicates that many young people are using these
substances to improve physical appearance and not necessarily for better sports performance
(American Universities). Adolescents are more difficult to use these types of drugs compared
to adults. They show us that it is a small percentage of people, but the few people who use them
who are teenagers do not know the effects of this drug. I have noticed that there are always
people who use the anabolic frequently and often they forget that this is directly related to the
use of drugs, which means that it is bad for your body, whether it is in sport or being out of the
sport. The use of anabolic steroids has its positives and the negatives and the great majority is
negative, as one of the good points is that the steroid increases your performance to do any type of
exercise and also increases muscle mass with the help of training. The negative points are much
bigger than the positive ones, such as the abusive use of anabolic steroids can bring you many
health problems, such as changing your nervous system, your organs, your hormones, can also
bring many diseases in the future

Social Stigmas
The concepts of the legitimacy and stigma are very discussed nowadays. Because of the growing
number of the occasions that leads to the misunderstanding in the various aspects of life, especially
in the healthcare sphere, the social stigmas have the significant influence on the process of the
legitimacy of the doctors, that creates the inequality and additional problems for the particular
group of the people, as well as for the representatives of the clinic stuff. However, another
significant problem is the legitimacy, which performed in the various aspects and related to the

During the previous investigations was discovered and practically showed, that attitudes toward
transgender people and other groups were measured with a series of 101 point feeling
thermometers in which higher numbers indicated more favorable attitudes with 50 serving as
neutral. The mean score for transgender people was 32.01. No strata of respondents had a mean
score greater than 50. These findings of generally negative attitudes toward transgender people are
consistent with studies among transgender people in which they report widespread stigma and
discrimination. A recent review of the literature on nurses attitudes toward LGBT patients showed
evidence of negative attitudes in all 17 articles. A study of 427 LGBT physicians found that 65%
had heard derogatory comments about LGBT individuals and 34% had witnessed discriminatory
care of an LGBT patient. Moreover, the growing process of the globalization follows the society to
the tolerance, and the investigation evidenced it. The number of the patient was understood after
the more detailed discussion of the problem with the doctors, which accepted their position and the
necessities. The growing of the number of the existed diseases and the special necessities of each
patient leads to the trouble that composes the high risk for the doctors. The legitimacy could be the
primary cause with the doctor s reputation as well as with the health of the patient; that feels the
pressure on him or her. Our analysis so far has shown that to be a legitimately sick patient, the
complaints of a patient with MUS must be explained concerning particular social aspects of that
person s life. But as the question just posed suggests, social problems

The court determines a person is negligent when they fail to comply with their duty and when their
conduct falls below the standard of care. The standard of care in negligence is established by the law
to protect others against the unreasonable risk of harm. The risk must be foreseeable. Pennsylvania
courts determine a party s standard of care by examining what a reasonable person would do under
similar circumstances. A reasonable person would also consider industry standards, historical
information, and other guiding information when making decisions. This will allow the party to be
on notice . With regarding notice, the question that should be asked is do the facts, circumstances,

to weigh out the Burden of adequate precautions against the probability of the action occurring and
the gravity of the resulting injury. If the Probability of the Injury of the injury and the level of the

New Imperialism Analysis
The New Imperialism was centered on nationalism, social Darwinism, and economic expansion.
The colonizers of the time were focused on only improving the state of their own countries and
never even paid attention to what the indigenous peoples were forced to do. All they wanted was
influence and power. On the other hand, the colonized had no control over the situation. They had
no power to fight back against the countries taking them over, and they were forced to change
their way of life to the ways of the white man. Rhodes was a perfect example of one of those
colonizers, he believed that the English were the most superior raceand that the world would be
better if the English took over. This is a completely nationalistic view of

What Narcissistic Personality Disorder
A narcissistic personality disorder is basically a person who feels that they have self importance.
The person thinks that they should have control and power above anything. The person is unable to
mentally realize how much damage they are doing to others and themselves.
To be specific on a certain type of people who has a NPD are narcissistic parents. Narcissistic
parents fall into two type of categories which damage their children. There is engulfing parents
which mean the parents are overly protective of their child and will ignore their child s age where
there are no boundaries between themselves and the child. This causes the child to be pushed
away from the parent or parents into not feeling trusted. For example the parent will go through
emails or text messages. Ignoring parents ignore their child and doesn t care or share interest in
their child which makes the child grow up to feel unwanted or cared for.
The diagnosis is based on the many symptoms of having a Narcissistic personality disorder such as
feeling self importance which is one of the main symptoms. The person normally has difficulty
maintain an unhealthy relationship. They will take advantage of anyone just to get their own
needs. Rage takes place if the person feels criticized. They will have no sympathy for anyone s
feelings but their selves. They are very good at making others feel guilty like with narcissistic
parents they tend to say I gave my life up for you and this is how you treat me to their

Sour Patch Kids
Music is an aspect of every culture that is used to connect its people and bring the group together.
Essentially, every culture has their own unique genre of music. The question of what is good music,
is an intriguing one because the answer to this question varies from culture to culture. Even within
a culture, the musical preferences change based on the individual. For this What is good music
project, I chose the songSour Patch Kids, by Bryce Vine, because this song exemplifies a few things
that I look for when determining good music.
I first found this song a couple of summers ago, when my friend Joey showed it to me. Instantly, I
became a fan of this song and a fan of Bryce Vine s music. I chose to use this song instead of his

To start off, I really enjoy the beat that Bryce uses on this track. This song features an upbeat
rhythm, and the lyrics compliment the beat. The entire song is supposed to deliver a nostalgic
feel to the listener. Throughout the song, He incorporates popular themes from his childhood
into the lyrics, and the music video features these themes throughout. For me, I think the
nostalgic theme works well with this song. It provides a happy, carefree feeling to the listener.
When I listen to this song, it personally brings back feeling and memories from the summer I was
shown it. Because of this, I believe the nostalgic theme of the song is a good fit. Another reason
this is good music is because of the lyrics. These lyrics break away from the typical stereotype
that is expected from rap/hip hop music. It seems that recently, few popular songs have lyrics
with meaning. Most feature lyrics that will appeal to the masses to sell the most records. This is
where Bryce Vine differentiates himself from these artists. His lyrics share stories and
experiences from his life, and are very personalized for the listener. I recently went to one of his
concerts he had in East Lansing, and when he performed Sour Patch Kids, the entire crowd was
singing along, and was brought together. This experience exemplifies what Bryce Vine s music is
all about; connecting people and delivering quality

Sociological Ambivalence Toward Childhood Essay
Final Question 2:
Almost every parent has told their child life isn t fair. As a society, we notice situations where
decisions made are not always reasonable. When it comes to children, however, being equal and
objective are not always priorities. There are two distinct cultures divided by age, adult s culture
and children s culture. Adults are people 18 years of age and older, where children refer to
anyone under 18. This difference in the two cultures can be seen in the history of the social
sciences where who is researched and who is listened to impacts the way people view adults and
children.
Throughout history, adults have not researched or documented information about children. Suzanne
Shanahan wrote in her article, Lost and Found: The Sociological Ambivalence Toward Childhood,
using the American Journal of Sociology as just one indicator, we see that as of 1980 only 5% of
the published articles made referenced to children, and again ... Show more content on

Children s and young people s perspectives on methods used in research and consultation, while a

Children are starting to represent the material titled with children and childhood. As a collective
group, the children wanted the ability to give their perspective on the approach of how projects
are done, and how they are understood, using the children as experts of the subject childhood.
Adults did not need to speak for children nor did they need to interpret the parts of the research the
children were a part of. This indicates the success of using a

Wires by Philip Larkin
WIRES
Wires by Philip Larkin is an analogy of a society trapped by rules and limits and a demonstration
that fear prevents humankind from following their desires. Larkin writes this poem in 1950 with
the idea of showing his point of view of the world. In the poem the cattles are trapped by the wires
imposed, preventing them from ever reaching their search for purer water. He shows that the world
offers no hope nor mercy whatsoever in their trial for escape. What the poet is actually trying to
express is the theme of youth against old and the boundaries that the world presents. Both
mentioned have no escape but the difference is that the young generation does not realize it and life

Action affecting Bees = Due to several human factors, bees are being threatened and destruction of
their habitat is the number one reason. For a habitat to remain successful and sustain populations it
must provide nesting sites and a seasonal succession of forage, and humans are depleting these
areas through population growth and industrialization (Corbet, Williams, Osborne, 1991).
3. Provide three specific actions that humans can take to minimize our impact on the ecosystem and
ensure the survival of lichens, trees, flowers, and bees.
Action 1 = Bees are a critical part of the ecosystem. Humans need to ensure habitat sustainment to
sustain bee populations do not deteriorate to levels that cannot be corrected.
Bees need food (nectar, pollen) provided by insect pollinated plants in order to reproduce and
produce more bees (Corbet, Williams, Osborne, 1991, p 2). By creating hives and environments
that are conducive to bee sustainment, it is possible that strides can be to reverse the downward
trend in populations. This is critical as one study showed. It stated that the loss of bees was a

The skills that are considered denied are from a lack of education. Education is an important factor in the advancement of an individual. The more an individual knows the better he or she will succeed in society. Education is a tool that Black America must use for social change, to educate its youths, and to correct the mis education of and about the Black Community (Henry, Calvin O.L. Black Community/ Black America . Research Room EdChange. Multicultural Pavilion. http:/ /www.edchange.org/multicultural/papers/calvin.html ,1 of 2.). It is the main concern to the development of black males. According to, Baltimore Chronicle and Sentinel writer, Phillip Jackson: The successful education process starts with the family in the home and community, and continues in school and throughout life. The extent to which Black parents become actively involved in the education of Black male children is the extent to which the destruction of potentially millions of young Black men will stop. When young Black men realize they have become expendable, are we ready for their reaction? The United States does not tolerate young Black men being unproductive or counter productive to the goals of mainstream society. Black males are suspended, expelled and failed in schools at rates that are two to five times higher than students of other races and go to jail at rates five to ten times higher than people of other races ().Jackson, Phillip. • 3. Examples Of Manifest Destiny Manifest destiny was a term used to describe the belief that United States settlers were destined to expand across the nation. This concept not only affected American politics and government but the public also. One of the first major examples of manifest destiny in the nineteenth century was Thomas Jefferson s purchase of the Louisiana Territory. President Jefferson wanted to shrink the size of the government and only use limited powers. However, his decision utilized a tremendous amount of executive power, in which Federalists felt that he was wasting taxpayer money and abusing his authority. Eventually, Jefferson believed that what he was doing was right because it would double the size of the US for expansion. The Louisiana Purchase in 1803 drove both the population and the economy to the west. Another example of manifest destinyin the United States was the Indian Removal Act by President Andrew Jackson, which authorized him to reserve land west of the Mississippi and exchange it for Native American land east of the Mississippi. In 1823, the Monroe Doctrine, by 5th President James Monroe, stated that the US would not interfere with European nations. Later on, in 1946 1948 the Mexican War was fought between Mexico and the United States. One of the main causes of the war was the annexation of Texas. As a result of manifest destiny and America s desire to expand westward a conflict with Indian tribes arose. President Jackson s Indian Removal Act fabricated a dispute between a portion of the Americans and the Indians. Some tribes did not agree to move from their territories and as a result, wars broke out between them and the US Government. • 4. Theme Analysis of the play Trifles Essay A play can be analyzed in multiple ways. One of these ways is through the play s theme. The theme of a work is often a statement about life and the human condition. In the play Trifles by Susan Glaspell, the theme noticing the little things can make a difference can be explained through plot, character, and setting. The theme can be developed through the plot. In Trifles, Mr. Wright was found murdered in his bed, so the police arrested his wife. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, neighbors of the Wrights, went to Mrs. Wright s house to pick up some things for her while she was in jail. As they were looking for Mrs. Wright now stays in her home most of the time. The women also say that Mr. Wright was a hard man. He might have made Mrs. Wright give up her friends and her singing. When Mrs. Wright got a canary, Mr. Wright might have strangled it because he did not like its singing. Mrs. Wright might then have murdered Mr. Wright for taking away the one thing she had left. Setting can also be used to develop the theme. The setting in the play was Mrs. Wright s kitchen. The Wrights house was isolated, down in a hollow. The isolation, coupled with not going to town any more, might have felt terrible for Mrs. Wright. In the 1920 s, the woman s place was traditionally in the kitchen, so any clues about Mrs. Wright would be in her kitchen. She had left a mess out in the kitchen: a half wiped table, unwashed pots and pans, a dishtowel lying out, and a misplaced loaf of bread. Mrs. Wright would only have left a mess if she was in a hurry or was interrupted, such as by Mr. Wright coming in and killing the canary. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters showed that noticing the little things could make a difference. By noticing the mess in the kitchen and finding the strangled canary, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters were able to figure out that Mrs. Wright killed Mr. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The city manager Robert Rizzo was making $800,000 a year, and the Chief of Police Randy Adams was making $457,000 a year much more than even the Chief of Police of the Los Angeles Police Department makes, (Coolican, 2010). Whether when a person stops seeing the world as this perfect place and starting to accept the fact that with the good in this world bad fellows, or understanding the world better, Harper Lee illustrates the theme of coming of age perfectly. Over the course of the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, we see the main characters Scout and Jem start to come of age in different events of the book. Both Scout and Jem experience Coming of Age differently. Throughout the book, both characters understand the world better while losing their innocence. Especially when talking about Boo Radley both characters realize that Boo wasn t locked up because he was a dad stabbing monster, it s because he wanted to as Jem said because Boo could no longer stand this cruel world, in this scene both Scout and Jem realize that the spooky stories they have been told about Boo weren t true. Due to the widespread consumption of petrol based liquid fuel, an incredibly large global infrastructure and set of surrounding institutions have grown around the support of such consumption. The petrochemical fuel industry manifests itself in the form of oil п¬Ѓelds and reserves, pipelines, transport ships, and fueling stations. The way energy is used worldwide is not sustainable. It is well documented that the use of these fuels is depleting the world s natural resource reserves, harming communities in terms of health and displacement, and polluting the air and water in local environments. The drilling, reп¬Ѓning, and transporting of oil leads to spills on land and in oceans, and when petrol based fuels are used to power machines and automobiles, the air is polluted with greenhouse gases and particulate matter such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur, and nitrous oxide emissions. In spite of the drawbacks, the current energy industry is committed to the continuation of these ways, primarily because of considerable assets and investment in the existing form of infrastructure. P hilosophical Travel Journal 1 W C Patten PHL2 71 February 23, 2015 Philosophical Travel Journal I am writing this journal with the goal of recounting my travels to different philosophical societies. Remarkably, each one of the three societies I was privileged enough to travel to r igidly followed a renowned philosophy. These were the philosophies of Plato, Soren Kierkegaard, and Friedrich Nietzsche. The Republic The first society I visited was that of Plato s philosophy. The residents were very kind and sought out true meanings of different vi rtues solely by dialectic. They structured their city much the same way that Plato structured the renowned Republic . Plato said that a just city would involve each man doing his own work, or specializing in a certain task. The cobbler would be a cobbler, the builder would be a builder, the farmer a farmer, and so on an d so forth. Each of these focused on his work and in such a way maximized outpu t, as is logical. The army protecting that city stood as a c ourageous wall around it, ready to defend it whenever necessary. The soldiers training was intense, focusing not only on physical exercise but also on the arts. By being brought up with training both in the arts and in physical exercise, Plato believed t hese soldiers would be both courageous and wise. Indeed, they were. Different people have different perspectives and thoughts as to what romantic lovetruly is, and whether or not it is simply an overstated infatuation. A portion of the teenagers brains called the nucleus accumbens is usually developed early on, and this section is responsible for seeking pleasure and reward. According to Molly Edmonds, a representative from Teenage Brain Development, discussed that, In imaging studies that compared brain activity when a subject received a small, medium or large award, teenagers exhibited exaggerated responses to medium and large rewards compared to children and adults (Document H). As illustrated in this quote, due to the less developed brain regions of teenagers, they are more likely to submit to their impulses, rather than curb any appeal to do so. This results in them weighing more value to the relationship, compared to the origin and emotions within it. In the article Beautiful Brains , a development psychologist named Laurence Steinberg performed a test, and the results concluded that, They (teenagers) didn t take more chances because they suddenly downgraded the risk. They did so because it gave more weight to the payoff (Document D). This quote exemplifies that teenagers are less concerned about the risks involved in their actions, and rather linger on the outcome which they will eventually receive. In a recent study by Beatriz Luna, a professor of psychiatry, it was declared that, This (use of more brain regions) lets the adults use a variety of brain resources and better resist temptation, while the teens used those areas less often and more readily gave in to the impulse to look at the flickering light just as they re more likely to look away from the road to read a text message (Document D). • 16. Heuristic Thinking Is The Refined Mental Process People... Heuristic thinking is the refined mental process people use when faced with an alternative. Such decisions are typically made quickly and unconsciously. Quickly making a decision without thinking through every detail can be advantageous but it can lead to biases and inconsistencies. There are four common biases caused by heuristics; relative comparisons, availability, representativeness, and affective. The first bias, relative comparison, is when people criticize based off of correlation or affiliation. Strictly speaking, a person will form their conclusion around comparing their condition to the similar conditions of others. Relative correlation is constructed of a system of anchors and framing. Anchoring is when a person takes easily accessible information and reasonably bases their decision within the parameters of that information. People will tend to base their answers depending on how the question was constructed. For example, if someone was asked whether the US population was above or below a hundred million, they would more than likely give a smaller population size then if they were asked if the population of the US was above or below seven hundred million. Framing is when a person bases their decision on either the loss or gain to be held from a possible outcome of a decision. As such, person is typically more concerned about repercussions rather than the actually benefits of a decision. Second is availability heuristic, which is basing a decision off of ... Development Of Generic Product And Approval Generally, an ANDA sponsor of the topical dermatological product has to undergo multiple review cycles with the FDA before the product gets approved and the sponsor has to wait for a longer time mostly. Even though the ICH CTD, ICH Q8 describes the generation of product development report, it is not still clear to ANDA sponsors how this actually applies. As a result, more internal meetings and discussions between the sponsors and the FDA delays the product approval. One of the ways to overcome these challenges is to have a product development report with verified and justified specifications based on the QbD efforts which can help the Office of Generic Drugs (OGD) to be efficient in understanding the developed generic product and approval ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The foremost criteria in developing a generic topical dermatological product is to meet the pharmaceutical and therapeutic equivalency of the RLD. A therapeutic equivalence is the one which has the same clinical effect and safety profile as given in the label of the RLD and a pharmaceutical equivalence is the one which contains identical amount of same active ingredient corresponding to the same route of administration in the same dosage form with similar mechanism of release and similar rate and extent of the absorption of the RLD. The current paradigm to get an approval by an ANDA sponsor is by proving the therapeutic equivalence to the RLD by testing whereas the proposed QbD approach requires the sponsors to meet the equivalence on the basis of defined design targets. More specifically, a well defined rational approach behind each testing is required for proving the pharmaceutical equivalence and bioequivalence [18]. When talking about the design of equivalence of a generic dermatological topical product, the criteria for Q1 and Q2. • 18. Modern-day Indian Breaking the Shackles of Caste and the... Breaking the Shackles of Caste and the Past Aravind Adiga effectively captures the true image of modern India through the story of the fictional character Balram Halwai. The novel takes the reader through the struggles of class that exist in India at a time when the country is undergoing rapid modernization and globalization. The novel contradicts the exotic image of India that is generally represented in literature (for example, the stories of Rudyard Kipling.) Instead the novel familiarizes us with the complications that have emerged in modern India in the last half century post independence and the abolition of untouchability. Throughout the novel Balram Halwai, the protagonist and the narrator, alludes to the issue of social mobility in the new social hierarchy of India. He discusses how the social hierarchy has undergone massive changes since the colonial times. Like we learned in class, there is considerable social mobility among the castes in India today (Week 5, Lecture 1). Adiga illustrates this transition and clash of ideologies in relation to caste beautifully through the various characters. On one hand is Mr. Ashok, who having being educated in America believes that the caste system is a thing of the past and on the other hand is his father, who still believes that caste lines are rigid and cannot be dissolved. Balram (like most other characters in the novel) believes in strict caste hierarchy and that India in the days of its greatness was a more orderly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will be analysing themes that run throughout the text and the importance of these themes in identifying the meaning of this passage. Genesis 3 revolves around the fall of creation, in this essay I will analysing the fall and the roles the characters play in the fall and evaluate the fall of humanity and the implications this has modern society. Serpent is repeated throughout the Bible for example, Deuteronomy 32:33 ( Their wine is the venom of serpents, the deadly poison of cobras. ) and Job 20; 14 ( yet his food will turn sour in his stomach; it will become the venom of serpents within him. ) These are a few examples of this repetition , suggests that the serpent is important within the Bible however he is always mentioned in reference to evil. The serpent plays an important role in this passage , as he the instigator of the fall in which he tempts Eve to eat from the forbidden tree. He challenges the credibility of God by convincing Eve to eat from the tree, which presents God as being devious which contradicts the omnibenevolent God presented by Christianity. John E. Toews agrees as he argues that at the conclusion of the dialogue the issue is can God be trusted? Has God been completely truthful with humans? A pious question about God is really a very cunning question because it forces the woman to render a judgment about God. The serpent could be seen as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mass extinction occurs when a great number of species goes into extinction globally. The Late Devonian mass extinction is one the Big Five mass extinction in history of earth which occurred 374.5Ma ago. This extinction event saw at least 70% of species perished; where main victim of this extinction event were the major reef builders, stromotopoids, rugose and tabulate corals (McGHee 2012). The sudden change in global temperature could lead to this mass extinction (Elewa 2008). Evidences of glaciation in Gondwana which were found in Northern Brazil further strengthen and support this argument (Elewa 2008). The earth was cooled by the effects from asteroid impacts, volcanic eruptions, biological and chemical weathering was proposed as the cause of mass extinction (McGHee 2012). Asteroid impact causing global cooling is termed as the impact winter theory, whereby the impact of an asteroid injects mass amount of debris, ash and gasses into the atmosphere which blocks sunlight from reaching the earth surface causing massive glaciation (McGHee 2012). Sweden, Siljan crater is an evidence of aestroid impact evidence (McGHee 2012), however recent dating using conodonts stated that the asteroid impact affecting the mass extincition is not viable as the F F boundary conodonts was deposited below the iridium layer(Trinajstic pers. comm. 2014). The massive tectonic movement as continental plates were merging to form super continent Gondwana, caused high volcanic activity during that period (McGHee 2012). Volcanic activites which is termed as winter volcanic hypothesis induces the same effect as the impact winter theory as mentioned above. An example would be the Viluy Trap which erupted within the critical time frame in Late Devonian was one of the key supporting evidence for this hypothesis (McGHee 2012). Biological and chemical weatherings are two glaciation theories which occurred gradually over a longer period of time. Complementing the glitz of the roaring twenties, a new form of journalism emerged that appealed to a different type of reader with its illustrious smaller size. But, as economic conditions worsened into the 1930 s, circulation increased while revenues did not. This strong metaphor compares the narrator to the elephant who feels their fate is death. The third part of line 4 is the fine timbers that directly relate to the house previously mentioned. The purpose of the house fortifies the idea that what s inside is of value. The house is nothing without its fine timbers and it is merely for protection and shelter. Just like a pregnant woman is for her unborn child. The fifth line represents the rising loaf like a child growing inside a womb. It is a pun on a familiar saying to pregnancy of a bun in the oven. Money s new minted in this fat purse plays with the idea that the purse has no great value in itself but contains valuable things inside. Line 7 explores the narrator s feelings towards having a child. She feels like a means , as if she is just a way for the baby to be born. As a mother she is just a stage and a platform but not a performance. She is a cow in calf, where many cows are separated from their offspring and have little to do with their mum. The final lines seem to break away from the rest of the poem and have a tone of darkness. After eating a bag of green apples one might feel sick especially since green apples are considered sour. The fruit is also unripe, signifying that the narrator is not ready to have a baby. Another point that can be found is that it is easy to see the resemblance of this line and Eve from the Bible. Annika Lindburg Linfield College Introduction It is difficult to find a video game that does not depict females as a damsel in distress or a sex object. The target audience for video games has been males, and video game companies are marketing to males with stereotypes of females in video games. A surprising finding is that around 150 million Americans, or almost half of women play video games (Kelleher, 2015). Yet video games continue to depict females as old fashioned stereotypes that leave a lasting affect on a female s health. How are women in video games treated? Video games are created from a male perspective that is exaggerating female s sexual or feminine traits (Near, 2013). Part of the problem is the lack of diversity in the gaming industry. Most game developers are men, which result in less sexism on purpose, and more of a diversity problem among video game creators (Ferguson, 2015). If there were more females in the video game industry, there would be more realistic female avatars in video games. Royse et al. (2007) argued that the gaming industry has begun to make games for females like Dance Dance Revolution and Eyetoy but that females are still wrongly thought of as having one perspective or experience. Since the majority of video game writers are males, they create video games that interest them and their target audience. Near (2013) found that predominantly male audiences identify better with a male avatar than a female one. Thus males write a stereotypical script in which a woman is scantily clad and needs to be saved which brings them revenue and further undermines a women s self ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ethnocentrism is a commonly used word in circles where ethnicity, inter ethnic relations, and similar social issues are of concern. The definition of ethnocentrism is the belief that one s cultureand way of life are superior of other groups. This causes judging among different groups and assumptions that there are inferior groups to your own. The roots of the word are ethnic and centrism, ethnic means cultural heritage and, centrism means to the central starting point. Put them together and ethnocentrismbasically refers to judging other groups from our own cultural point of view. It s true we reject those outside our group, our customs, our food, our traditions, our music, our religion, our beliefs and values. We think that our lifestyle is somehow much better than those of other societies. The questions I found out through my observation of WWU was why do people do this. I asked some people if they thought they were ethnocentric and the results showed that most people think that they are not ethnocentric, but are rather open minded to other cultures. As I will explain in my writing that this their response isn t true at all and that everyone is ethnocentric. There is no way not to be ethnocentric and it cannot be avoided. There are two distinct cultures divided by age, adult s culture and children s culture. Adults are people 18 years of age and older, where children refer to anyone under 18. This difference in the two cultures can be seen in the history of the social sciences where who is researched and who is listened to impacts the way people view adults and children. Throughout history, adults have not researched or documented information about children.
