The anterior abdominal wall has several layers including skin, superficial fascia, muscles, and peritoneum. The superficial fascia contains two layers - Camper's fascia and Scarpa's fascia. There are 5 muscles in the anterior abdominal wall - 3 flat muscles (external oblique, internal oblique, transversus abdominis) and 2 vertical muscles (rectus abdominis, pyramidalis).
