2. Critiquing nursing research
Through the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct (NMC, 2004)
nurses supply high standards of care to patients and clients. One code nurses adhere to is clause 6
which pronounces nurses must maintain professional knowledge and competence, have a
responsibility to deliver care based on current evidence, best practice and validated research (NMC,
2004). Validated research involves critiquing and acquiring the skills of synthesis and critical analysis,
this enables nurses to distinguish the relationship between theory and practice in nursing (Hendry
Farley 1998).

Although the reference from 1967 is outdated it is reasonable the authors included it since it is the
only research paper found on their particular subject. However this causes the reader to speculate the
reason this subject was studied. Because the authors and the reader did not discover any other
literature concerned with the subject this, could indicate that the authors literature search was
comprehensive which could prove validity of the study. However it is wondered if other researches
believed case notes were irrelevant compared to other objects in the hospital or if this is ground
breaking research. Improvement could have been made by the authors including the search engines
they had used as this would allow replication and evaluation of the paper. The literature the authors
cited used a quantitative approach as did the authors themselves thus identifying and employing the
underlying theoretical framework and giving credibility to the paper. Cutlcliff Ward (2003) suggests
the literature review guides the researcher in discussing the results of the study in terms of agreement
or non agreement with other studies, however there is no evidence of evaluation of material that
supports or challenges the position being proposed .This suggests the researches appear to have only
reported the finding of other studies and not examined the

3. Positive Benefits Of Homeschooling
In the modern world that we live in today, education is considered paramount. Although in the United
States our education level is not nearly at the rank wed like, we still place a great emphasis on
programs to shape the youth of tomorrow. There is, however, one organization for education that is not
fueled by government spending homeschool. Homeschooling is a practice that is looked upon from the
outside as alien simply for being different, and the stereotypical view that many hold of it is false. In
fact, because of a lack of bad influences, the addition positive social effects, and outstanding academic
performance, the case can be made that homeschooling is more beneficial than public schooling to
students. The way that every child is started in homeschooling at a young age is because of their
parents. In a survey of why parents decide to enter their children into homeschooling, 85.4 responded
that it is because of a concern about the environment of other schools (Dumas 8). Things like drugs
and alcohol are all accessible easily in public school from various vendors trying to get children
hooked at young ages. By taking out the medium through which they transport their product, parents
are removing their children from harms way. Another bad influence to children in public school is
conformity. Noteworthy researcher Tanya Dumas writes that one of the primary benefits of
homeschooling is the ability to tailor the education to the needs of each student and to work one on

an attack on lookout mountainn and then captured it after six hours of fighting! The battles went on
and on. Grant wanted this battle over fast so the nexted day he ordered Sherman to attack tunnel hill.
But the last time Sherman was ordered to lead the troops in an initial attack was a failure. A second
attack managed to completely break the center of the confederate line. After that victory it was grants

the success of Grants victories it also led the union to a great victory (Civilwar.org).
Casualties
The battle of Chattanooga was a really bloody battle. At first there were a total of 100,369 troops and
12,485 that died it was not the bloodiest battle but it was bloody. Both sides didn t have a difference of
troops dying. Even though, Grant was successful he lost about 6,000 troops out of 56,000. It was
mostly troops not generals. On the other hand Brgg had lost about 6,700 troops out of 30,000 troops.

5. Rational Choice Theory Of Rape
Rape is a crime that Americans hear very little about, yet everyone knows that such acts occur
frequently. Rape is a very personal form of violence that continuously impacts the victim for years
after it occurs, if not for the rest of the victim s life. The effects of rape, short term and long term, can
be catastrophic for the victim, causing them physical and psychological damage (Gluck, 2016). I
believe that by using the Rational Choice Theory, rape can be eliminated in today s society by the use
of castration as a punishment for offenders and as a deterrence for possible future offenders.
Rape has been an ongoing issue within society for centuries. In early times, men raped women for
reproductive purposes. Today, it is still believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Russell (1997) informs that there are two forms of castration: chemical and surgical. According to
Chism (2013), the oldest and most effective approach to controlling deviant sexual urges and reducing
recidivism rates of male sex offenders is surgical castration. This is partially backed up by the data
given by McMillian (2014), who composed a study of 104 men, revealing the recidivism rate as 3%
for those who had been castrated compared to 45% with those who had not. Cauley (2014) identified
cases where surgical castration has been used nationally and in the United States, showing that
castration is quite effective.
Lee, Kang, Ji, Baeck, Lee, Oh (2013) informs that in Korea, a chemical castration law was passed in
2011, which targets child molesters who have reoffended. The law is intended to prevent offending
and rehabilitate offenders. Decisions to commit crimes such as rape or other sexually motivated
offenses, are often made under the influence of visceral feelings such as anger or sexual arousal, as
stated by Loewenstein, Nagin, and Paternoster (2010); rational choice models of decision making
assume that individuals can anticipate, in an unaroused state, their responses to such instinctual
feelings.
Discussion
In the United States, required surgical or chemical castration is something that is not really considered
as a form of punishment or a method of rehabilitation for sexual offenders. The reason for this

Griet s ties with her family begin to weaken, so too, do her moral convictions. Griet is so blinded by
her infatuation with Vermeer that she becomes his servant not on just a domestic, but an emotional
level as well. She sacrifices her morals on many occasions and does not remain true to herself I did

When she was with Pieter she would not let him do all he wanted , but for Vermeer she pierces her
ears, parts her lips, reveals her hair and is in all sense a ruined woman.
Not only does Vermeer become the focus for Griet s emergent sexuality, he also serves to expand her
mind and perspective on life. Teaching her that there is little pure white in clouds , Griet realises that
the world is not always as it seems. Similarly, Griet s religious prejudices instilled in her by her family

ability is fostered by Vermeer as he teaches her to grind paints and build up false colours to

10. Proximity In Pep Talks
Proximity is the nearness of surrounding objects for an individual. While attending the pep rally
Marcus is able to experience sight and sound from the band and the people around him. Proximity
allows Marcus to notice everything around him which maximizes the pleasure of being at the pep
rally.
The tendency to perceive a complete or whole figure relates to closure. As Marcus watches the
cheerleaders spell out leaders individually, Marcus is able to use closure to make each letter a whole
word. Another form of closure at the pep rally is Marcus s perception of each student sitting with their
grade level, because of their class colors.
Similarity is similar to closure in the sense that Marcus is able to notice the similarity in class colors to

Figure ground is used in Marcus s experience when he uses the background music from the speaker to
link that to the band.
Selective attention, focuses on attention to a particular stimuli, this was showed a lot through Marcus s
experience. He focused on each stimuli in the school pep rally. For example he first focused on the
students organized by grade. He then defered his attention to the school band being played through the
speaker. After that, his attention was on the cheers from the crowd and cheerleaders. Having selective
attention, may have made Marcus lack little details like any other events happening during the pep
rally.
Sensory adaptation is the process by which we become more sensitive to weak stimuli. The longer we
can adapt affects how sensitive we are to stimuli.
Sensitivity is the quality or lack of being sensitive. This can affect the process of sensation because
sensitivity is a reflection of how someone may perceive something. For example certain cultures

Mills take On liberty is similar to Huntington s argument on clash of civilization because mills believe

Mill believes in the individual and his freedom to exercise his rights a person so long it does not harm

society, forceful ruler ship and public opinions of other should interfere in an individual s decisions.
According Mill individual liberty is a good thing to major extent because he think it is a means to

12. The Politics Of The United States Politics
Sir Walter Scott (1896) once said Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to
deceive! (Canto XI, XVII). In other words, lying leads to more deceit until one is so caught up in the
lies that it is virtually impossible to escape. Truth is highly valued in society; so, what are the reactions
when the leaders of society lie to their constituents? This is an issue that has recently manifested in the
United States politics. With the election of President Donald Trump, the media have become
increasingly interested in how truthful the members of the political system are. Many have started
demanding transparency from those in positions of power. In contrast, some, who will be discussed
later, believe that officials should be able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe presidents typically have a high percentage of falsities. To solve this query, Barack Obama s
profile will be examined. PolitiFact has a record of only 26% of what Obama said as containing some
degree of falsehood (PolitiFact, 2016). The disparity between these two figures is offsetting to say the
least. In the few short weeks in which he has held office, more than two of every three comments
made by President Trump have been reported to be incorrect in some form. The issue is so bad that
Trump s counselors have begun using terms like alternative facts in order to mask the outright
deception. This problem is not unique to Trump; in fact, many high level politicians have been caught
in lies recently. For example, House Speaker Paul Ryan has been accused of being dishonest about
certain things relating to Medicare. A writer for The Huffington Post claimed that Ryan is using deceit
to convince people that the Medicare system is broken, and that it must be destroyed (Altman, 2017).
There are countless other instances of this happening with politicians, and it is not a new problem.
Politicians are not flawless; they make mistakes and occasionally act in their own best interest like all
humans. Furthermore, they are people with a responsibility to handle an exuberant amount of sensitive
information and make critical decisions. For this reason, it is not surprising that there is an
unintentional slip up on

Advice to First Writing Course at the University of Central Florida
Writing courses can be challenging and that is why I decided to write this personal narrative. I believe
that a personal narrative is better for an advice column than a research paper. A personal narrative
would give more personal experience and insight on how the course was. It would be more valid since
it is true. I think people learn better when they read and hear something from the person they are
talking to rather than being about other people, especially when it comes to advice.

They can properly quote it or paraphrase it using MLA format. This will demonstrate the student using
strategies to better comprehend difficult texts. Students should also learn to adapt to different writing
contexts. Throughout this course, I had to learn new vocabulary such as rhetorical situation and
discourse community. These are actually types of essays I had to write during this course. When
writing these types of essays, one has to keep in mind their audiences and their own experience.
Lastly, students will consider how social, rhetorical, and technological contexts shape writing because
it reflects sensitivity to school writing as a social affair (McCarthy 231).
There are some constraints that I had to think about when deciding the genre of this paper. One
constraint to this personal narrative is the time I took this course. I took ENC 1101 during the Summer
B section. Summer B was only six weeks long and I had to learn the concepts of this course in that
amount of time when it usually takes around sixteen weeks. This made the course much harder for me
and other students. Especially because English is my second language, it takes me longer to read and
analyze articles. This was also one out of two of my first classes as a college students. It is a different
environment and I had to adapt to different situations and expectations. Another constraint is about
those students that already have credit for ENC

Acute respiratory failure is a medical emergency. It can develop quickly, but it is temporary if treated
promptly. Your lung function can improve with time and treatment.
CAUSES
There are many possible causes of acute respiratory failure, including:
Lung injury.
Chest injury or damage to the ribs or tissues near the lungs.

TREATMENT
Treatment for this condition usually takes places in a hospital intensive care unit (ICU). Treatment
depends on what is causing the condition. It may include one or more treatments until your symptoms
improve. Treatment may include:
Supplemental oxygen. Extra oxygen is given through a tube in the nose, a facemask, or a hood.
A device such as a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or bi level positive airway pressure
(BiPAP or BPAP) machine. This treatment uses mild air pressure to keep the airways open. A mask or
other device will be placed over your nose or mouth. A tube that is connected to a motor will deliver
oxygen through the mask.
Ventilator. This treatment helps move air into and out of the lungs. This may be done with a bag and
mask or a machine. For this treatment, a tube is placed in your windpipe (trachea) so that air and
oxygen can flow to the lungs.
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This treatment temporarily takes over the function of
the heart and lungs, supplying oxygen and removing carbon dioxide. ECMO gives the lungs a chance
to recover. It may be used if a ventilator is not effective.

Upon graduating from college, Reagan worked in the broadcasting industry as a Chicago Cubs

one such trip, Reagan took a screen test in 1937, which led to a seven year contract with Warner

Smith has only been to the playoffs twice and has won nine playoff games in both those times
combined (Mail 2017). His backup Eddie Lack, is 29 years old and has played 136 NHL games
(Herald 2017). The hope is that Lack can play up to thirty games this year (Herald 2017). That would
give the team a decent goalie pairing. The Edmonton Oilers goalies are Cam Talbot and Laurent
Brossoit. Cam Talbot joined the Oilers on June 27 2015. He played a bunch of games the next year,
but the past year was when he really lit it up. He started the most games of any goalie (72) and won
the most ever in franchise history with 42. He led the Oilers to the second round of the playoffs where
they lost to the Ducks in 7 games. When they left the playoffs, he was leading the goalies with the
most shutouts having three of them. There back up is Laurent Brossoit. He was traded to the Oilers
from the Flames on November 8 2013 (Sbnation 2017). He has played 14 games in the NHL, starting
10 of them, and winning 4 of those starts (Sbnation 2017). So over all he is a young but capable NHL
goalie. The Flames have a decent group of forwards. They have young stars like Johnny Gaudreau,
Sean Monahan, Matthew Tkachuk, and Curtis Lazar (Chirp 2017). With those young players they

20. What Does The Flowers Symbolize In Paul s Case
In Willa Cather s, Paul s Case , several different references are made within the story in relation to
flowers. In many cases, the flowers resemble life and the journeys that one goes through. On the other
hand, flowers resemble death and how easily it can creep up on a person. Both these symbols can be
recognized in the story of the young protagonist; However, the true reason the flowers are so
prominent in the story is to resemble, and therefore predict, the life of Paul. Like the flowers, Paul will
bloom and prosper and be beautiful, but if the flowers spend too much time trying to live in a non
compatible season, the flowers will wither away and die like Paul. One of the most prominent flowers
in the story is Paul s red carnation, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end, this leads Paul to bury his once loved adornment. As Paul begins to realize this at the end
of the story, ha states that, all the flowers he had seen in the glass cases that first night must have gone

outside the glass, and it was a losing game in the end (13). Here Paul describes how the carnations
resemble his life and how he, like the flowers, has wilted. This fabulous life he had been living was
short lived and eventually had to come to an end sometime. Likewise, the flowers had tried to live in a
season to which they had not belonged, mocking it behind a glass case. Paul had done the same; trying
to live a in lifestyle he did not belong to and believing he could live it on his own without the
protection of his fake identity. However, both Paul and the reader realize that when the glass is taken
away, the flowers wilt and die, like Paul does when his cover at the hotel is

21. Hannah Arendt Totalitarianism
Ideology or Terror
In Discussion: Hannah Arendt s View of Totalitarianism
What is totalitarianism? Totalitarianism is commonly mistaken as tyranny or a dictatorship. It begins
as tyranny to lift the boundaries of the laws, but then turns into something stronger. According to
Hannah Arendt on page 86, If it is true that the elements of totalitarianism can be found by retracing
the history and analyzing the political implications of what we usually call the crisis of our century,
then the conclusion is unavoidable that the crisis is no mere threat from the outside, no mere result of
some aggressive foreign policy of wither Germany or Russia, and that it will no more disappear with
the death of Stalin that it disappeared with the fall of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After reading Hannah Arendt s view on totalitarian government I can agree with Donoghue. Denis
Donoghue wrote this after reading Arendt s work. Donoghue explains, One of the most disturbing
implications in Hannah Arendt s books is that there are facts, situations, events with which the human
imagination cannot cope. I had always assumed that the imagination was good enough for anything,
and I had been delighted by Stevens s picture of reality and the imagination in dynamic poise, the
violence within grappling with that other violence which is its occasion, its challenge. Dynamic
accord; reality and the imagination equal and inseparable. But Hannah Arendt is right; the human
imagination is dazed by the reality of the concentration camps; it staggers, doubts its own evidence,
lurches in torpor or hysteria. It cannot disclose the real. This is basically saying that our imagination is
not always good situations like people think they are. Your imagination can be used for evil just like
everything else can be. The inhabitants of a totalitarian country are thrown into and caught in the
process of nature or history for the sake of accelerating its movement; as such, they can only be
executioners or victims of its inherent law. The process may decide that those who today eliminate
races and individuals or the members of dying classes and decadent peoples are tomorrow those who
must be sacrificed. What

24. The Primary Mechanisms for Sex Determination Across the...
Manolakou et al. suggest that there are three primary mechanisms for sex determination across the
animal kingdom. The first is environmental factors. Fish and Reptiles do not have chromosomes that
determine the sex of the offspring. The temperature is the primary determinant. Some organisms sex
will be determined by specific environmental factors like temperature during the right developmental
stages of the embryo. This is referred to as the thermosensitive period (TSP). The second mechanism
is when a specific gene is responsible for a cascade effect that will ultimately determine the sex of the
offspring. This mechanism is seen in some invertebrates like insects, and amphibians. The single
regulating gene has not yet been determined. The third mechanism is the occurrence of individual sex
chromosomes like what we see in mammals. In mammals the males are heterozygous and the females
are homozygous, but in birds the opposite is true, but birds still have distinct sex chromosomes. Some
organisms have distinct sex determining chromosomes, but they have yet to be discovered. How or
why certain organisms develop into certain gender is not necessarily known, but the idea that there
could be some sort of governing pattern could lend itself useful to comparative biology and
reproductive endocrinology. Haplodiploid genetic system is a very curious mechanism in insects. The
insects can be either uniparental or biparental, meaning one parent or two. The females can

The Proven Benefits of Optimism
Being optimistic does not consist in seeing things in a blind and blissful manner but instead from their
most favorable angle. It is all the more in your interest to be optimistic since you will derive many
advantages for your body and soul.
See your glass half full
Launching a project or seeing a situation from its most favorable angle does not mean that you are
unaware of all the positive and negative directions this project or situation can lead you to. It simply
means that you have resolutely chosen to see a given situation from its most positive angle.
By merely seeing things in a positive light, you increase your motivation, your dynamism and your
chances of success.

Repercussions on your health
There is another benefit to being optimistic: it leads to a better state of mind. It is proven that
optimistic people have a better state of mind than pessimistic people.
A more optimistic state of mind reinforces your immune system. It has been observed that pessimistic
people have poorer health due to their low morale.
Here are the other advantages of being optimistic: great joie de vivre, better social life, greater stamina
and increased life expectancy.
Optimism, a complete sport
For all these reasons, it is recommended that you be optimistic in a realistic manner. Do not refuse to
see the drawbacks of a specific situation. Instead, tackle it in a positive way.
In a way, optimism can be considered as a complete sport since it requires the total involvement of
your body and mind, which influence each other generating common and mutual benefits.
So, take the plunge without hesitating and follow the path leading to optimism to succeed in life!

29. Feudalism And The Middle Ages
Feudalism In The Middle Ages
When people conjure images of the Middle Ages, people think of chaos, war, and little improvement.
In fact, much of this is true. During the Middle Ages, a system called the Feudal System was formed
to maintain order. It might have made life tough for peasants, but it kept nobles, or upper class people,
rich and in power. The Feudal System greatly affected daily life for everyone, but, in time, it
collapsed.
The constant chaos of the Middle Ages caused the Feudal System to be invented. During this time
period, kingdoms in modern day western Europe were under constant threat from invading nations.
Most kingdoms had been too large to have just a single figure of power, so Feudalism developed.
Feudalism came mostly due to a single king s inability to protect his land by himself (King 26).
Another reason was that before the fall of the Roman Empire, an established and powerful entity, the
leaders of kingdoms had strong bonds with their people. When the Roman Empire fell, there was no
single strong power other than the Pope, and the ties between the leaders and the people broke (Pei).
Without these ties, people and their Lords weren t as friendly as before. With no strong power in
place, defenses were needed. This is how the Feudal classes came to be, as knights swore to support
their lord militarily and their lord swore to protect them (Pei). Because of the constant need for
defenses, classes formed: kings, to rule; lords, to control villages;

30. Acupuncture As A Medical Procedure
Acupuncture
Origin
Acupuncture is one of the most traditional methods of healing that have been prevalent in the world.
Treatment through this method requires fine needles, which are used to stimulate the body
physiologically by inserting them in some specific points of the body. It is believed that it was
originated thousands of years ago somewhere in China. Since then, it has been practiced there to cure
the illness. But the rest of the world remained totally unaware of any such practice till twentieth
century. Even the experts are not sure about its year of origin and the period for it has been in practice.
Roughly it can be said that it is a 4000 5000 years old medical practice. Despite its rich past, people in
western countries are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is at this point; Acupuncture comes into action and helps the body to maintain the balance of these
forces and to flow unbeatably. For this purpose, there are nine needles to be used by acupuncturists.
However, out of those nine needles, only six are mostly used.
Techniques
Acupuncturist makes use of different kinds of needles to treat different kinds of illness. So before he
picks a particular needle, he has to consider its length, breadth and also the head of its tip. Following
medical bio hazard regulations and guidelines, he can use a needle just once and has to dispose it off.
He also has to keep methods in his mind to insert the needles on the points. The range between fifteen
and ninety degree is ideal for him to insert the needles on the points.
As he inserts the needle on the point, the patient feels sensation there. This sensation in medical term
is called De Qi. Once he is done with insertion, he has to follow some specific techniques that too in
accordance with the illness that he has to deal with. The acupuncturist as a technique raises and thrusts
the needle. He even twirls and rotates it. Plucking, scraping and trembling of needle as techniques are
also performed. Sometimes when it is needed, he employs the combination of raising/thrusting and
rotation.
Moxibustion is another most frequently used technique apart from acupuncture by the acupuncturists.
Mostly, both these methods moxibustion and acupuncture are used together for better

Merriam Webster defines non sequiturs as an inference that does not follow from the basis premises
(Non sequitur, 2011). The cause and effect of facial expressions are unrelated. Cultures will differ in

Gestures
Body gestures are physical types of nonverbal communication. Tapping of a pencil on a desk while
studying, a wave from someone to gain another s attention, or hand signals such as Sign Language or
police directing traffic.
Body Language and Posture How the sender present himself/herself sends nonverbal communication
to a receiver. Handshakes, eye contact, facial expressions, and posture send silent messages to the
other person. Posture is an indicator of approachability. The distinction in posture is rectangular and
triangular. The posture or position of two people will indicate private conversations (rectangle) or an
invitation to join in a conversation (triangle) (Bjorseth, 2007).
Proxemics
Space, proxemics, is the distance between two or more people. The distance between individuals at a

32. The Strange Case Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
During the story of The Strange Case Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde , the author presents his knowledge of
the duality of man, Stevenson uses this clear contrast to make his point, every human being contains
opposite forces within him or her, an alter ego that hides behind one s polite fascia . Where Dr. Jekyll
and Hyde contain a dark, scary side inside them, where evil is detained in waiting to surface, but they
hide it away, they pretend it does not exist, and they keep it undercontrol. He presents this idea by
using two characters, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, who are actually the same person. One of these
characters signifies the normal side of a person characterized by Dr. Jekyll, who is a classic higher
class individual, and the other, Mr. Hyde, a deformed man, shows the purest of evil, but the truth
cannot be denied that as Dr. Jekyll said man is not truly one, but truly two. We come across the fact
that basically the whole novel is basically about the duality of human nature until the climax of the
novel itself. We learn that the idea that Dr. Jekyll had created another version of himself, but not the
good one is where he realizes he made a mistake because the other side of him has committed murders
and he had a really bad temper and he is known as Mr. Hyde. Dr. Jekyll is the good man the one who
does charity work for his own community. Mr. Hyde in the other hand is the man who gives a sense of
his evil by just looking at his face and deformation. Hyde emerges and wins

and livestock care that will establish relationships. In order to accomplish this, this paper will first
attempt to give a brief background of the Arabized Berbers by highlighting their history, culture,
language and religion. Second, this paper will survey the work of current missionaries among them
that explores the history of missions, the status of the church today and the strategies being employed.
40. Finally, this paper will offer a proposal for a strategy to reach the Arabized Berbers that involves

What really changes is the way that said hero is built up through the cinematography of the movie.

constant. That hero being Captain America. The first box office depiction of Captain America took
