2. Introduction
For this task we decided to analyse 3 film openings to
establish the order in which the titles are shown, so
that our opening titles will be accurate to the genre
and film openings in general. We also made sure that
we analysed at least one opening from our genre in
case they did something slightly different to fit the
action genre.

6. Overall reasoning for titles
After studying a selection of different action film openings we have
learned that the most conventionally used title ordering is Studio Logo,
Producer, Director, Key Cast, Film Name and then Additional Cast.
Although some films change this ordering such as when the cast
appears and add in the Editors, for example Blade Runner, but overall
this is the most commonly used ordering throughout the action genre.
In addition, as you can see the titles are quite limited in regards to
action films, this is because typically in this genre they like to focus the
film opening on the actual action that is taking place in order to attract
the audience and make them want to continue to keep watching.
7. Our Title Ordering
From analysing these three film openings we have decided to place our titles in the order;
1. Studio Logo (This will be first because it automatically grabs that audiences attention as our film will be
mainstream therefore the studio name will be commonly known so that audience can link our film with
other films made by that studio)
2. Producer (This is crucial to a film opening and should be show near the begging of the film because if they
are commonly known, just like the studio logo, the audience will be more interested to what it)
3. Director (This is the same reasoning as the Producer, however will be show after them because they will
be less known and this is the usually conventional ordering for the producer and director when it comes
to action films)
4. Key Cast (The key cast will then follow on from the Director as they are key to attracting your target
audience, especially if a well known actor stars in the film, which is usually the case for the action genre)
5. Film Name (This will be shown near the end of our film opening as we wanted to create enigma for the
audience so that the title didn’t give away too much and we also felt like it added more of an impact to
the film as it built up to it, so that the audience would pay attention to it more)
6. Additional Cast (This will be the last of our titles as it is the least important and effective at attracting the
audience as these cast members are often less well know and don’t play the main roles in the film)
