Unexamined Life Research Paper
Both Plato and Socrates seen philosophy not as an occupation, but a way of life. Socrates believed
there were different kind of lives to live, the unexamined and the examined. The unexamined life
focused on material things. Such as, wealth, power, possessions and the wants of the body. The
examined life chases truth, justice, betterment of the city and lasting things. In the examined life, the
soul is the most important thing. To Socrates, a life filled with chasing after material things, the
unexamined life, is not worth living. Socrates is seen as the image of an examined life. He lived and
died justly and chose to further his examined life even if it meant he would be put to death. Socrates
also believed that we should not fear death.

The Blind Side By Michael Oher
Most movies are predictable and don t connect with people in special ways. They are made for the
entertainment, not to tell an actual story. Sometimes one can dig deep into your heart and tug at the
strings. The award winning movie, The Blind Side, is a true story about a less privileged, African
American, Teenage boy, Michael Oher, who is taken in by a white Christian family, the Tuohy s. Oher
is then placed on the football team and becomes an all star Football player with the love of the Tuohy
s supporting him. Directed by John Lee Hancock and feature Sandra Bullock (Leigh Ann Touhy),
Quinton Aaron (Michael Oher) and Tim McGraw (Sean Tuohy), The Blind Side is a movie that
encourages and motivates people that not all hope is lost. Michael is out of relevance when it comes to
his family and his new school. He has been raised in a drug haven, ran down side of the city, and the
Tuohy s are a rich, proper family in the middle of Memphis. Michael was homeless at the time the
Tuohy s took him in. He was showering and sleeping in his school. Once he is taken in, he is enrolled
in a Christian school where he was the only colored boy in school. Being taken in by this family really
impacts Michael in ways no one would have ever thought. As you watch this movie, you experience
both sadness and joy as you watch Big Mike go from being homeless to becoming a famous football
star. One of the saddest parts of the movie is when Mrs. Tuohy goes looking for Michael mother and

The Lipid Bilayer And Membrane
The Lipid Bilayer is a membrane that contains protein. The lipid bilayer is a part of all cell membrane.
The structural parts provide support that marks the boundaries of the cells. It is called a lipid bilayer
because it has two layers of fat cells put in order on two sheets. Lipid Bilayer (Phospholipid bilayer)
Assessments and Measures The Lipid Bilayer is simply a thin polar membrane made of two layers of
lipid molecules. These membranes are flat sheets that surround the cells as a barrier. Lipid bilayer
cause viruses, and living organism in the cell membranes. There also membranes that form cell
nucleus and any sub cellular structures. The lipid bilayer keeps ions, proteins and other molecules
where they need to be. Lipid bilayer are usely waterproof towards ions which also allow cells to keep
salt in check. Amphiphilic phospholipids are usually composed in biological bilayers. Phospholipid
that have certain head groups that can change the chemistry of the bilayer. Also, just like the head the
tails of lipids can be affected by the membranes properties. At lower temperatures, solid gel can adopt
by the bilayer and transferred to a fluid state. The mechanical properties can be affected by the way
the lipid bilayer was packaged.
Biological membranes have typically many types of molecules other than the phospholipids. An
example of the animal s cholesterol with also helps strengthen the bilayer. Cholesterol also helps
control the activity of membrane proteins, because

The Effect Of Lying Had On Nervous System By Monitoring...
Introduction:
During this study we assessed the effect lying had on the autonomic nervous system by monitoring
galvanic skin response (GSR). We used GSR, a measure of the skin conductivity, as a very basic form
of polygraph test. The electronic conductivity of skin in not held constant. Instead, it changes based on
the current state of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is comprised of the sympathetic
and parasympathetic nervous system (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The sympathetic branch
causes increases in arousal. It controls responses such as pupil dilation, increased heart rate, and
decreased digestive activity that are normally associated with the fight or flight response (Gazzaniga
and Heatherton, 2015). The parasympathetic branch acts in opposition to the sympathetic nervous
system. It lowers arousal and returns the body to normal resting conditions. We believe that the act of
lying will cause the sympathetic nervous system to increase arousal resulting in higher skin
conductivity and therefore larger changes in GSR. As a result, we hypothesize that lying will cause a
larger mean change in GSR height then telling the truth.

Kwame Kilpatrick Crimes and Punishment.
Kwame Kilpatrick was elected Mayor of Detroit at the age of 31 which made him the youngest person

ambitious young man with great potential and future ahead of him. During the inauguration ceremony
he was singing on the stage, Together we stand, divided we fall; let s build a bridge, tear down the

contradicted testimony that both Kilpatrick and Beatty gave at trial regarding the intimate relationship

requested a release of all the settlement related documents in 2008. This led to the criminal charges
against Kwame Kilpatric and Christine Beatty. In March 2008 they were charged with misconduct in

Battle Of The Marne Essay
The First Battle of the Marne was one of the most significant battle in the first stages if the emerging
war to later be known as the Great War . It was conducted by the Allied French and British forces
against the German advance emerging from Belgium. The Germans had major successes in previous
battles against the French in France s north east until finally being slowed to a halt at the Marne River.
New tactics and techniques were utilized at this time in order to gain any upper hand against the
opposing forces; tactics such as radio signal interception and aerial reconnaissance. This battle also
forced the German into fortifying themselves into series of elaborate trenched in order to maintain the
front, which became typical of the western front until the end of the war.
On 6 September 1914, the First Battle of the Marne was an offensive conducted by the French army
and the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) against advancing Germans who had, at this time, already
invaded Belgium and northeastern France. Allied forces were becoming desperate by this time

successes by exploiting a gap between the German second and third armies at the Marne River. French
air reconnaissance and radio intercepts (the first to be used in a major conflict) identified this
opportunity to the French commander in chief Joseph Joffre. On 6 September, The French fifth army
and the BEF were ordered to exploit the gap and isolate the German first army. The next day the
German first and second armies were threatened by encirclement. With the news being reported to
German high command, the forces were ordered to retreat to a defensive position behind the Aisne

The Visual Adisement Of An Advert Analysis Of Tux Soap
The visual text about the Tux Soap is an advertisement created to convince women that using Tux
Soap for their body will improve their complexion and make them appear more visually appealing. It
is targeted at women, aged between thirteen to fifty because society seems to demand that it is
essential for women to look extraordinarily beautiful and have flawless skin. The advertisement
appeals to the targeted audience as the beautiful woman on the advertisement with flawless skin
entices young and older women to want to try Tux soap.
Visual techniques evident in advertisement include the title, which conveys the message that Most
men ask Is she pretty? Not Is she clever? . The title misleads women by persuading them that men
only look at aspects of beauty but not intelligence or kindness. However, it is extremely effective as
women will be attracted to the advertisement in how they can allow their beauty to be seen and would
want to read more into it. Furthermore, the dull background colours such as the light blue and grey
shades make the woman s flawless skin and her fair complexion appear more prominent and appealing
to the eye, satisfying the audience. Moreover, the advertisement includes a larger size for the words,
Most men ask Is she pretty? and a smaller size is utilised for not Is she clever? this differentiation
convinces the audience that being prettier is more important than being clever. It makes us sense that
beauty is more powerful than intelligence.

Daisy Buchanan and Myrtle of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott...
Daisy and Myrtle: The Women of The Great Gatsby
Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby is a fascinating work that details the corruptive influence of greed. The
main character is a man named Gatsby. The two main female characters are Daisy and Myrtle. These
two women provide an interesting contrast while complementing each other at the same time. Daisy is
living a life of luxury while Myrtle is struggling to make ends meet. They both play major roles in the
novel, and, although their intentions seem pure and promising enough, they both are doomed to
succumb to greed which causes eventual death.
Even though Daisy and Myrtle are the extremes of one another, there are still haunting bonds between
them. Death is one of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She aches to be part of an elite class like Daisy, but instead, she is married to a man who is hard
working and honest but does not have the passion that she craves. Wilson, Myrtle s dumb witted
husband, owns a garage. Because Wilson is a passive aggressive character, he does not want to admit
to himself that his wife would cheat on him, even though Tom makes it apparent that Myrtle is more
his wife or property than she will ever be to Wilson. For example, when Tom visits Myrtle at the
garage Myrtle orders Wilson to fetch some chairs while she gives her true lover a warm greeting.
Wilson gives to Myrtle his complete trust in the same way he provides Myrtle with what she asks for,
but she abuses it. She takes her husband for granted while at the same time, she gazes at Tom sitting
on a pedestal she has made for him. Tom is the man that can make Myrtle s every fantasy come true,
but also the man that will lead to her early death. Myrtle is seen to be a fun and floozy mistress, but
not as a real wife. She, as superficial as it may be, is not someone that Tom could take to parties and
introduce to his parents. Myrtle controls Wilson, while Tom manipulates her simply for enjoyment.
For example, Tom tells Myrtle that the reason they could never wed is because his wife, Daisy, is
Catholic and she would never stand for a divorce. In this scene, Catherine, Myrtle s sister, tells Nick
Carraway, the narrator, about the reasons why Tom and Myrtle may never come

Aladdin Character Analysis
Analysis:
Jasmine is a fifteen year old female princess from a place called Agrabah which is located in a desert
in the Middle East. She is a princess by decent as she is the daughter of the Sultan. In the movie she
must choose a suitor in three day before her birthday as it is the day she and her suitor will become the
Sultan and the Sultan s wife.
She was the first of the princesses to have an outgoing, stubborn, opinionated and independent
personality. This is shown when she disagrees with the marriage law and at the end of the movie when
she obliterated the law. She also gets rid of the law that states a princess cannot marry a street rat
causing her to be able to marry Aladdin. She is also kind as demonstrated when she takes an apple and
gives it to a hungry child.
Jasmine was the sixth princess to grace our screens and she did so in 1992 in the movie Aladdin.
Aladdin is about a street rat who is kind of heart, which is shown when he gives the bread he merely
escaped death to retrieve, to a little girl and boy he sees rummaging through the trash to find food.
Aladdin re enters the town from the back alleys and finds a peasant girl (Jasmine in disguise as she ran
away from the palace) who has just stolen from a store so that she could give a hungry street child
some food. She states to the clerk that she doesn t have any money but will go back to the palace to
retrieve some but he doesn t believe her and is just about to sever her hands, as it was the fair

Isis As The Mother Goddess
The push for equality between genders has been a highly disputed topic since the blossoming of the
feminist movement. For years women have felt undervalued and oppressed because of the standards of
success put in place by the patriarchal society. However, early evidence suggests that females were
once renowned through the archetype of the great goddess because of a female s ability to create life
through giving birth, justifying that the mother goddess would be the most powerful of the gods (82).
The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of years to the myths and
legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the once revered great goddesses were
replaced with male counterparts, often involving humiliation for the goddess involved.
In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living things; the
ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they relied on her nurturing care for
survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring goddess in her journey to revive her murdered
husband throughout the story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the Nile in a papyrus
boat, and wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered remains, proving her
devotion to him (19). While she has assistance on her journey from other gods and goddesses, she is
the leader in finding Osiris no one else seems to take interest in reviving the god of Upper and Lower

The Pros And Cons Of The Council Of Ephesus
To please the Council of Ephesus and the Church, Cyril of Alexandria and John of Antioch agreed on
a compromise that met the concerns of both sides. This compromise stated that Jesus was both the
perfect God and perfect man composed of rational soul and body...consubstantial to the Father as to
his divinity and consubstantial to us as to his humanity (Kereszty, pg. 248). This meant that Jesus was
a human of divine nature, recognizing these two physeis. Unfortunately, this compromise did not last
long. After Eutyches was convicted by the synod in Rome, he appealed to other Bishops. This lead to
the rise of the Monophysite movement, headed by Eutyches.

The Caterbury Tales, Carmina Burana and The Book of Taliesin
Historical Events of the Middle Ages The Middle Ages is the period in European history from the
collapse of the Roman empire in the fifth century to the period of the Renaissance in the fifteenth
century. The medieval life may, at first, appear to be bleak, harsh, and dreary. But in actuality, it was a
time of Kings, immense battles, disease and religious influence. From the devastation of the Bubonic
Plague, briefly alluded to in Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, to the legendary king and war hero
Arthur of Camelot. The Christian Church was the single most influential institution in society, with the
pope taking on a role as the leader of European Christendom and education and intellectual life mostly
happening through religious institutions. Through the analysis of compositions written during the
Middle Ages, it is observable that significant events influenced the pages of these notable works such
as Canterbury Tales, Carmina Burana, and The Book of Taliesin. The Canterbury Tales is the most
famous and critically acclaimed work of Geoffrey Chaucer, a late fourteenth century English poet.
Chaucer was born in London in the early 1340s, in a period of history referred to as the late Middle
Ages. Chaucer s father became immensely wealthy when he inherited the fortune of relatives who had
died in the Bubonic Plague of 1349. The Bubonic Plague, or Black Death, which tormented England

Sexual Orientation Discrimination Everyone agrees that workplace discrimination has no place in the
modern business world. But not everyone understands the laws that protect employees against
discrimination. In this case, what you don t know can hurt you, especially if an aggrieved employee
files a discrimination claim. Definition According to an article published by Workplace Fairness, a non

discrimination means treating someone differently solely because of his or her sexual orientation
whether it be homosexual, bisexual, or heterosexual. This discrimination may occur because of a
perception of someone whether the perception is right or wrong. Someone who is discriminated

The Eras and Influences of Art Nouvea Art Deco

Art Nouveau and Art Deco are two very distinct design movements, with very distinct elements, that

A Brief History On Two Types Of Music Education
Within this essay, you shall find a brief history on two types of Music Education, the Suzuki Method;
as well as the Dalcroze Method, as well as a breakdown of these methods. Apart from this, you will
also find a slight discussion on how I might incorporate these methods, if any, into my own teachings.
Suzuki Method The Suzuki Method was created and developed by Violin prodigy, Shinichi Suzuki,
after being asked by a colleague if he was able to teach his son. Intrigued, he set out the find out
different ways to teach children, as well as the way in which they may learned. He observed that
young children could learn the German language with ease, yet, as an adult, he was unable to fully
master the language; He also found this with his own native language of Japanese, which is quite an
intricate language. After much discussion with fellow colleagues, he concluded that young children
can and will learn their mothers native tongue through imitation, repetition and listening; that, with
some thought, he could hopefully apply this to music. Suzuki began to teach with the mentality of
Character First, Ability Second which meant that he, and the people around them, embraced the whole

child; that music isn t just about mastering your chosen instrument. He called this way of thinking

suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic
lung disease, combined. Phoebe Prince and Hannah Baker are both apart of those devastating
statistics. Hannah Baker is a character in Jay Asher s book Thirteen Reasons Why whereas, Phoebe
Prince is a girl from South Hadley, Massachusetts. These two girls stories are very much alike, but
there are also very different. Phoebe Prince is a girl who moved from Ireland to South Hadley,
Massachusetts. Phoebe was a new student at her high school and was having a hard time fitting in
there because of the other students bulling her. One of her friends knew about the bulling and Phoebe
also told her family who notified the school and yet, they did nothing about it. The unpleasant students
continued bulling her and labeled her. The label she acquired, allowed the other students to continue to

The Medical Practices Of The Hmong
Medicine, to the modern day world, is a way of healing the sick and helping people experience life to
their full potential. It is an ingredient of a culture that allows the culture to survive through decades
and centuries at a time. But what if the medicine that we know as helpful is actually harmful? When a
child cuts their knee the first thing an adult would do is check the scrape and then assess the damage.
After assessing the damage, the adult would normally plan a course of treatment to ensure the child
would not lose a limb in the near future. After treating the child with a mixture of antibacterial wipes,
bandages and ice cream, what if the child is not better, but actually worse? That is what happens when
you compare the medical practices of the Hmong to the medical practices of the Americans, both
cultures believe that the others will cause more damage than good in respect to healing the soul and
body.
For the Hmong, there is a whole world out there, with amazing techniques, yet sometimes the simplest
questions like the choice between life and death create extreme conflict. Anne Fadiman accounts a
young woman by the name of Teresa Callahan who really is between the choice of life and death, I
[the doctor] told her over and over again that if the tube ruptured at home she might die before she
could get to the hospital. I called her husband and her mother and her father and grandparents, and

Effects Of Advertising On Teenagers
An Essay on the Effects of Advertising on Teens
The Effects Of Advertising On TeensThe effects of 2People see advertisements all around the globe
that attempt to lure consumers to buy products. Advertisements are placed in newspapers, magazines,
schools, and on billboards everywhere. According to marketing consultants Stan Rapp and Tom
Collins, on a typical day, an average American sees over 5,000 advertisements a day (Gay, 1992).
Many questions arise about these advertisements, such as Is advertising deceptive? Does it create or
perpetuate stereotypes? Does it create conformity? Does it create insecurity in order to sell goods?
Does it cause people to buy things that they really dont need?(Alexander Hanson, 1993, p. 240).
Advertisers use specific methods to target teen consumers, but these methods are not always
successful or ethical. Advertising is giving the general public information about new goods and trying
to increase overall sales, which increases the efficiency of the nations economy. It is supposed to be a
significant way of getting the point across about a product and create motivation for people to buy.
Advertising alone, however, does not get customers. It simply catches consumers attention, gets them
to walk up to a shelf, and make an impulsive purchase. However, getting the customer back requires a
more creative marketing approach. There are several ways to research consumers behaviors, likes, and
dislikes. The most popular method is tests and surveys, both

Male incarceration is a massive system of racial and social control. (Michelle Alexander, 2014 ) The
world we live in today is 5% of the world s population however, 25 % are prisoners meaning one out
of every 4 humans are incarcerated or will be. Now one must question how this epidemic continues to
grow. Let s start by looking into what the 13th amendment did for the African American community
for generations to come. The 13th amendment grants freedom to all, except for criminals. ( Michelle
Alexander, 2014) With that being documented it gave the nation a tool to throw us behind bars for
years to come. With Nixon s administration coining the term war on drugs the destruction of the black

History of Early North American Colonies Essay
The European conquest for establishing North American colonies began with various motivations,
each dependent on different, and/or merging necessities: economics, the desire to flee negative
societal aspects, and the search for religious freedoms. Originally discovered by Christopher
Columbus in 1492 in search for a trade route to Cathay (China), North America remained uninhabited,
excluding the Native American establishments. Following this discovery, Spain along with other
European nations such as France, England, Sweden and the Netherlands soon began the expedition to
the new land with vast expectations. Driven by economic, societal, and religious purposes, the New

When traveling to London from urban areas created overpopulation in the city, and increasingly
horrendous conditions, the move to a more prosperous land seemed more and more inviting. This idea
was further enhanced by the works of English Richard Hakluyt in novels such as The Principal
Navigations, Voyages, and Discoveries of the English Nation, and Voyages, where readers were given
false insight into a vastly successful New World, theoretically open for prosperous settlement. Those
which moved to London with abortive attempts to find work, or which experienced the scarcity of
food/land supplies between 1580 and 1650, found these inviting opportunities as an escape to
otherwise, inevitable poverty. Conversely, those living in stable, prosperous societies, with satisfactory
social statuses, were less likely to be motivated by the influential works of Richard Hakluyt and the
overall conquest of America. Those experiencing religious unrest among the Catholic Church and the
Protestants embraced the opportunity to establish new settlements in the New World. For years, the
Protestants and Catholics battled for territory; during the reign of Edward VI, Protestants attempted to
exterminate Catholic origins, and following his death, Queen Mary s rule involved the execution of
Protestants. To escape religious conflicts, Plymouth, for instance, rose from Pilgrims fleeing England
to form primarily a religious settlement of Puritan Separatists. Despite the successful formation

Homeless Population in America Essay
One of the most prominent social issues is that of the homeless population. According to Korge Furst,
24 percent of the homeless population are severely mentally ill, 20 percent are physically disabled, 19
percent are employed, 14 percent are victims of domestic violence, 14 percent are veterans, while 3
percent are HIV positive (Chp. 2.4, 2012). Although there are numerous programs and policies to
eradicate homelessness, we still see that the numbers continue to rise. Essentially, social theories such
as conflict, functionalist, and symbolic interactionist theories have been fundamental methods used to
study and examine social issues like homelessness. Therefore, expanding on innovative methods and
policies for the vulnerable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, some interactional theorists would most likely point to the unwillingness with some
employers to hire homeless individuals and may lack any academic or prior employment experience.
This is more often than not a terrible disappointment as well as discouragement for the lower
economic status individuals and is one element that sometimes discourages numerous homeless
people from even trying to pursue employment in the first place.
Korgen tells us The nature of our interactions with others determines how we see ourselves and our
role in society. In turn, our actions are conditioned, though not determined, by the social situations in
which we find ourselves (Chp. 1.3, 2012).
The third sociological theory that helps explain the homeless population is that of the Symbolic
Interactionist. Korgen Furst state... Symbolic interactionist theory maintains that society is a social
construct, continually created and recreated by humans interactions with one another. So basically

that society just works that way. Therefore, Symbolic Interactionist maintain that by changing how we

Water soluble vitamins dissolve easily in water, and in general, are readily excreted from the body, to
the degree that urinary output is a strong predictor of vitamin consumption. Because they are not
readily stored, consistent daily intake is important. Many types of water soluble vitamins are
synthesized by bacteria.
Fat soluble vitamins are absorbed through the intestinal tract with the help of lipids (fats). Because
they are more likely to accumulate in the body, they are more likely to lead to hypervitaminosis than
are water soluble vitamins. Fat soluble vitamin regulation is of particular significance in cystic
fibrosis.
Until the 1900s, vitamins were obtained solely through food intake, and changes in diet (which, for
example, could occur during a particular growing season) can alter the types and amounts of vitamins
ingested. Vitamins have been produced as commodity chemicals and made widely available as
inexpensive pills for several decades, allowing supplementation of the dietary intake.
History of vitamins
The value of eating a certain food to maintain health was recognized long before vitamins were
identified. The ancient Egyptians knew that feeding liver to a patient would help cure night blindness,
an illness now known to be caused by a vitamin A deficiency. The advancement of ocean voyage
during the Renaissance resulted in prolonged periods without access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and

Charles Dickens Great Expectations
Many people say that writing is nothing more than a way of the author to express himself. This is true
in many cases but none as much as in Great Expectations. In many ways the narrator/protagonist Pip
is Charles Dickens in body and mind. While there are many differences between the story and Charles
Dickens life there remains one constant. This constant is the way Pip as the narrator feels, because
these feelings are Dickens s own feelings about the life he lead. Since Great Expectations was written
towards end of Charles Dickens life, he was wiser and able to make out the mistakes and regrets of his
life, and Pip experiences them all. While Great Expectations is seen as a tragic book not many people
really think about where these themes come from, and when the book is read with the knowledge of
Dickens life it truly reveals new meanings.

The American Fur Company was a relentless monopoly operating in the climatic era of the fur trade. It
was established by John Jacob Astor in 1808. The company was created at a time that was favorable to

Fur Industry s Effect on Society
The fur trading industry played a major role in the development of the United States and Canada for
more than 300 years. The fur trade began in the 1500 s as an exchange between Indians and
Europeans. The Indians traded furs for such goods as tools and weapons. Beaver fur, which was used
in Europe to make felt hats, became the most valuable of these furs. The fur trade prospered until the
mid 1800, when fur bearing animals became scarce and silk hats became more popular than felt hats
made with beaver. Traders and trappers explored much of North America in search of fur. They built
trading posts in the wilderness, and settlements grew up around many of these posts. Some of these
settlements later became such major cities as Detroit, New Orleans, and St. Louis in the United States;
and Edmonton, Montreal, Quebec, and Winnipeg in Canada.
Also as a result of the Fur trade, the beaver population depleted, Indian trappers became debilitated,
tribal cultures buckled under the pressure of new economic motives, tools and values. Consequently,
since production fell within an area, the traders moved and settlers moved in developing farms and
towns. The Indians in that area were either killed or moved by the government.

indicates that the dispute between gangs for territory is the fundamental reason.
The capital, despite a reduction in homicides in relation to last year, is still in the first place for this
crime. According to the Violence Observatory of the National Autonomous University of Honduras
(UNAH), of the 25 most violent municipalities in the country, the Central District is sait to be the first
on the list. This title is given by the number of violent deaths, being reported 346 homicides from
January to June. The decrease of crimes is of 149 in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Violence Observatory of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH),
in the past two years, the colonies: San Miguel, El Carrizal, Villa Nueva, La Rosa, Hato de Enmedio,
Altos de Loarque and the market areas of Comayagüela have concentrated the 35 % of homicides in
the city. Otherwise, the colonies: La Kennedy, Los Pinos, El Reparto, la Estados Unidos, El Pedregal,
el Barrio El Bosque, La 3 de Mayo, la Divino Paraiso and Nueva Suyapa have been considered the
colonies with less murders.
Migdonia Ayestas, director of the Observatory of Violence of the UNAH, explained that the crime has
triggered fear among the majority of the capital. In fact, there are surveys of perception that are
manifested by feelings of fear, vulnerability, and distrust from the population, said Ayestas.
In addition, violence prevents a high percentage of the families to go out and have fun in public spaces
or it generates high levels of anxiety or depression, according to the respondent. There are men and
women who still go to their work, but thinking that perhaps they are not going to come back, she

Victims of violence
In the capital, this year, there have been killed 42 carriers, 34 students, 5 members of public security
and 17 private securities, according to Ayestas. Through a document prepared and presented by the
Observatory this year, of the total number of victims who have died violently in the DC, 31 were

Importance Of Religion In Puritan Society
During the Puritan Era of American history, religion was ingrained in every aspects of society.
Literature written in or set in that time shows how religion impacted daily life. Many famous pieces,
including The Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, and Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God clearly shows
the harsh Calvinist ideals of the Puritan Age. These famous works depict the Puritan s strict social
justices, a gospel based legal system, and an overall societal fear of displeasing an unseen power in
any way. Every text set in this time can be characterized by its substantial theme of religion and God.
Historians have said that the Puritan laws and restrictions were some of the harshest in all of the early
American colonies. The people back then firmly believed that words of God were law, and any who
deviated from them deserved to be punished. This harsh punishment is a major theme in The Scarlet
Letter. The first pages of the novel depict Hester Prynne s punishment for committing adultery and
having a bastard child. For this crime, Hester is confined in prison, put on display on the scaffolding,
moved into insolation, and for the remainder of her life she is forced to wear, [o]n the breast of her
gown, in fine red cloth surrounded with an elaborate embroidery and fantastic flourishes of gold
thread, ... the letter A . (Hawthorne 51) This severe punishment, for what today is not even considered
a crime, was justified to the Puritans because of their unwavering belief in the rules of the Bible. In the
Puritan Era, there was no laws that separated the church and state. Rather, in tiis time the church was
the state. Government officials were elected to implement the laws of God and this system of humans
enforcing of the Bible carried into their judicial system. The Crucible is centered around the Salem
witch trials. People were sent to hang because of the testimonies of a few young girls. Though there
was no evidence other than the girls claims, the judges firmly believed that those accused of witchcraft
were guilty. This hysteria continued for many months, causing about twenty innocent people to be
hanged. The main reason for this prolonged insanity is the major flaws in the court system. Danforth,

Tavi Gevinson s Ted Talk
What tools does Tavi use to help convey the message of her talk? Are these tools effective? From start
to finish Tavi Gevinson used a verity tools when giving her Ted Talk, A Teen Just Trying To Figure It
Out, which were a creative way in getting her thoughts and ideas across to the viewers. One tool Tavi
started using as soon as she stepped on stage was her voice. Tavi s voice is calm and has much
expression and depth which pulls the viewer in especially when she is talking about something she is
passionate about like feminism around women and teens. Her voice and how she talks helps portray
her confidence and passion she has on this topic. As well as informing everyone with new information
and knowledge that they may not have gotten otherwise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tavi uses many examples of television shows throughout her Ted Talk. Her discussion on these
television shows (like Girls, Freaks and Geeks, Mad Men, and so many more) help Tavi clearly get her
point across that these are the shows that have amazing female representation, female characters that
are three dimensional with flaws and everything. These examples help create a stronger argument and
clearly fight her thesis. Throughout Tavi s Ted Talk she has comedic moments which help grasp the
views attention, although the moments are comedic they still are as serious as her other not so
comedic moments. At the end of Gevinson s Ted Talk she tell the audience that everyone should be
Stevie Nicks. She does not say this just because she thinks Stevie Nicks is super cool, she says this
because of the way she holds herself. Stevie Nicks is empowering and a strong female personality on
and off stage and this is the whole point of Tavi s talk to let girls know it is okay to be a complete
rounded character with as many sides as you

Analysis Of All Quiet On The Western Front
Justin Milner
Mrs. Liebson
APE, Per 5
10 January 2015
War in All Quiet on the Western Front World War one was a war of severe tribulation. resulting in over
50 million deaths, it was one of the deadliest conflicts in human history. Known as the Western Front ,
the border of Germany and France was the site to some of the bloodiest battles of the war. There are
very few novels that truly exemplify the events that took place along this front. Erich Maria Remarque
s novel, All Quiet on the Western Front, Displays important themes, imagery, and symbolism, that
help show how this great war affected the soldiers, the countries involved and the world. Some
examples of symbolism, such as Kemmerich s boots, The river, and the horse, give us an idea of
undertones and struggles in that occurred often in the war. The boots are a prime example of wartime
struggles, but also a symbol for strength. All soldiers are looking for a good pair of boots in order to
protect their feet, thus protecting themselves. A strong soldier always has a good pair of boots. Often
they have fair success, because they have very good boots and ours are bad (Remarque 90). Bäumer
believes that a soldier is only as good as his boots. Muller inherited them from kemmerich, but both
die shortly after. the boots are also symbols of the change the war caused. Both of them men die
because survival instincts take over. Juxtaposed with the comments and thoughts of Bäumer in the
penultimate chapter is a quickening

The Matrix And Charlie Angels
Everyone has their own movie preference. There are people who adore the hardcore action and there
are some who prefer the slow paced drama. Many individuals may not like a movie because of the
genre it is in. A genre is a categorization of certain types of movies based upon their style, form, or
content. The genre is a vital component of a film since it characterizes which course the plot line will
go and allows to prepare yourself for that film. Movie genre is the term used to differentiate between
various number of films. There are around five fundamental groups that are big and prevalent i.e.
Action, Horror, Comedy, Science fiction. In this essay ,I will be comparing two films, The Matrix and
Charlie Angels. I will discuss the use of cinematography, the genres of the films, and how effective
they are. I will also look at the characters, action, plot ,sound and atmosphere created, and how these
are aimed at each film s target audience.
Charlie s Angels is an action comedy film, which borrows ideas from other well known movies such
as Mission Impossible , James Bond etc. It is not very original or challenging, has a weak and
predictable plot, and is merely an update on the 1970 s television series of the same name. The film is
based on a trio of beautiful women who are hired to retrieve a man and his technology. They achieve
this by working together, using their intelligence, a series of cunning plans, combined with an
impressive display of girl power.

Financial Health Of A Company
Liquidity Ratios The financial health of a business greatly depends on its ability to maintain current
commitments and obligations. Liquidity or the ability to generate cash from current assets to meet
short term obligations as well as unforeseen responsibility is important for the subsistence of a
company. A reasonable level of liquidity is essential to the survival of a company, as poor cash control
is one of the main reasons for business failure. (Pyke, 2007) Through utilization of tools, such as
liquidity ratios, or financial metrics, to evaluate the company s ability to meet current business
obligations, should the debt needs to be settled, we are able to assess its immediate financial strength.
Liquidity ratios provide creditors as well as businesses a quick analysis tool, using data, which are
readily available from annual financial statements, to complete these assessments. These ratios are
critical to creditors and are the most widely used ratios, perhaps next to profitability ratios. (Joe Lan,
2002) Liquidity ratios include current ratio, quick ratio (also referred to as acid test ratio), net working
capital ratio, and cash ratio. Current ratio is the most basic or fundamental of the four and focuses
mainly on current assets, while quick ratio is more stringent, eliminating inventory and prepaid
expenses, as both are more difficult to liquidate (Morningstar, 2016). Cash ratio is the most
conservative , as it mainly focuses on cash and investments

Why Hunting Should Be For Providing Food And Resources As...
Oh Deer There are multiple and personal ways to look at hunting, such as a way to provide life or
even a sport. There are also different tactics in hunting, such as high fence, low fence, endangered,
poaching and etc. Ethically I believe the means of hunting should purposely be for providing food and
resources as needed. More than 38 million Americans hunt and fish, as stated by nhfday.org. These
statistics were in 2012 and records have concluded that the numbers have increased since then making
hunting a higher demand. I believe as a hunter you should have a purpose for killing an animal. For
example, many hunt for the meat, but you can utilize the rest of the animal for different resources, like
bones or antlers being made into knives. Responsible hunters should be defined as respectful to
natural resources because hunting provides a way of life and population control. Surveys are taken
across the United States in various ways. In Texas we have multiple ways in how we calculate the
white tailed deer population. Right now, our current ratio of doe s to bucks is 10:1. We are
overpopulated in both genders, but mainly in doe s which is why were limited on how many bucks we
are allowed to kill per season. For the hunting season of 2015 2016, you were allowed to kill 5 white
tailed deer in total; only 3 are allowed to be bucks or antlerless while the remaining 2 are strictly
antlerless deer. Texas harvests the largest amount of white tailed deer in the country

King Henry The Eight Analysis
William Shakespeare, the most influential and important writer and playwright of all time, narrates the
major events of King Henry the Eighth s reign. Shakespeare s significance plays a huge role when
establishing historical viewpoints. The romanticized version told by Shakespeare reveals Henry VIII
as a sinner. The play creates a fictitious account of the actual history of Henry the Eighth s break from
the Catholic Church. Many Europes: Choice and Chance in Western Civilization textbook by Paul
Dutton, Suzanne Marchand, and Deborah Harkness and Henry VIII by William Shakespeare allows
for the ability to decide the truth from the fiction. In Shakespeare s romanticized version of King

After Henry declared his supremacy, the Christian church separated, forming the Church of England.
Henry installed the Acts of Succession and the first Act of Supremacy, declaring the king was the only
Supreme Head in Earth of the Church of England. (Dutton, Marchand, and Harkness 401). Fully
separated now from the pope, the Church of England was under England s rule, not Rome s. Henry
VIII by William Shakespeare shows a neutral bias towards the king. The play presents the events
during King Henry VIII to be predetermined. The fallen characters prevented the birth of Queen
Elizabeth and therefore it can be understood that their decline in station was an outcome of fate. Henry
VIII expresses the birth of the queen as a savior for England and all the circumstances leading to her
birth were destined to happen thus King Henry was just a pawn in history. Shakespeare s significance
plays a huge role when establishing historical viewpoints. The play creates a fictitious account of the
actual history of Henry the Eighth s break from the Catholic Church. With Shakespeare s added fiction
he shapes Henry VIII s reign as a fated destiny. His play focuses more on the importance of the birth
of Queen Elizabeth than the importance of Henry VIII denouncing the pope. Shakespeare took pieces
of English history, condensed it, excluded much of it, and fictionalized the

John Hancock Is The Founding Father
Out of all the important contributors to the founding of the United States of America, John Hancock is
the Founding Father I chose to research and learn the most about. I feel as though all of the other
Founding Fathers are well known and everyone knows a little about each one. John Hancock, for me
personally, I knew little to nothing about and I wanted to learn more. I like to learn a lot about subjects
that I know nothing about. I also picked John Hancock because of his signature. On every document
he signed, his name would be the the most prominent signature. His signature is one of the most well
known and I wanted to absorb all of the details about this particular individual behind the signature.
John Hancock, who was born in Braintree, Massachusetts on January 23, 1737 grew up with his
mother, father, and two siblings. At a very early age, Hancock s father passed away and his mother
was too poor to maintain the household, so John was raised by his aunt and uncle. John s uncle,
Thomas Hancock, was a wealthy merchant and he owned a very sophisticated mansion in Boston.
After graduating in 1750, John continued his education at Harvard University. In 1754, he earned his
degree and then went on to work for his uncle at his real estate and shipping business. Soon after,
Thomas Hancock passed away and John took over the family business and managed to make it very
successful and became the richest man in Boston. Despite his fame and fortune, John was a very

Socrates believed there were different kind of lives to live, the unexamined and the examined. The unexamined life focused on material things. Such as, wealth, power, possessions and the wants of the body. The examined life chases truth, justice, betterment of the city and lasting things. In the examined life, the soul is the most important thing. To Socrates, a life filled with chasing after material things, the unexamined life, is not worth living. Socrates is seen as the image of an examined life. He lived and died justly and chose to further his examined life even if it meant he would be put to death. There also membranes that form cell nucleus and any sub cellular structures. The lipid bilayer keeps ions, proteins and other molecules where they need to be. Lipid bilayer are usely waterproof towards ions which also allow cells to keep salt in check. Amphiphilic phospholipids are usually composed in biological bilayers. Phospholipid that have certain head groups that can change the chemistry of the bilayer. Also, just like the head the tails of lipids can be affected by the membranes properties. At lower temperatures, solid gel can adopt by the bilayer and transferred to a fluid state. The mechanical properties can be affected by the way the lipid bilayer was packaged. Biological membranes have typically many types of molecules other than the phospholipids. An example of the animal s cholesterol with also helps strengthen the bilayer. • 6. The Effect Of Lying Had On Nervous System By Monitoring... Introduction: During this study we assessed the effect lying had on the autonomic nervous system by monitoring galvanic skin response (GSR). We used GSR, a measure of the skin conductivity, as a very basic form of polygraph test. The electronic conductivity of skin in not held constant. Instead, it changes based on the current state of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is comprised of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The sympathetic branch causes increases in arousal. It controls responses such as pupil dilation, increased heart rate, and decreased digestive activity that are normally associated with the fight or flight response (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The parasympathetic branch acts in opposition to the sympathetic nervous system. It lowers arousal and returns the body to normal resting conditions. We believe that the act of lying will cause the sympathetic nervous system to increase arousal resulting in higher skin conductivity and therefore larger changes in GSR. As a result, we hypothesize that lying will cause a larger mean change in GSR height then telling the truth. Methods: Participants Two undergraduates (1 male, 1 female) from Grinnell College took part in this experiment. Students were asked to participate as part of their Introduction to Psychology course. • 17. Isis As The Mother Goddess The push for equality between genders has been a highly disputed topic since the blossoming of the feminist movement. For years women have felt undervalued and oppressed because of the standards of success put in place by the patriarchal society. However, early evidence suggests that females were once renowned through the archetype of the great goddess because of a female s ability to create life through giving birth, justifying that the mother goddess would be the most powerful of the gods (82). The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of years to the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the once revered great goddesses were replaced with male counterparts, often involving humiliation for the goddess involved. In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living things; the ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they relied on her nurturing care for survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring goddess in her journey to revive her murdered husband throughout the story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the Nile in a papyrus boat, and wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered remains, proving her devotion to him (19). The Caterbury Tales, Carmina Burana and The Book of Taliesin Historical Events of the Middle Ages The Middle Ages is the period in European history from the collapse of the Roman empire in the fifth century to the period of the Renaissance in the fifteenth century. The medieval life may, at first, appear to be bleak, harsh, and dreary. But in actuality, it was a time of Kings, immense battles, disease and religious influence. From the devastation of the Bubonic Plague, briefly alluded to in Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, to the legendary king and war hero Arthur of Camelot. With a rousing cheer we bounced on our toes, yelling in a steady roar, our arms around each other s shoulders. With the command to start running, we raced across the pavement, leaping over curbs and tree roots, yelling STEP as a warning to those behind us. When people could no longer run they fell out of the group, only to be joined by a fellow company member encouraging them to continue running. Effects Of Advertising On Teenagers An Essay on the Effects of Advertising on Teens The Effects Of Advertising On TeensThe effects of 2People see advertisements all around the globe that attempt to lure consumers to buy products. Advertisements are placed in newspapers, magazines, schools, and on billboards everywhere. According to marketing consultants Stan Rapp and Tom Collins, on a typical day, an average American sees over 5,000 advertisements a day (Gay, 1992). Many questions arise about these advertisements, such as Is advertising deceptive? Does it create or perpetuate stereotypes? Does it create conformity? Does it create insecurity in order to sell goods? Does it cause people to buy things that they really dont need?(Alexander Hanson, 1993, p. 240). Advertisers use specific methods to target teen consumers, but these methods are not always successful or ethical. Advertising is giving the general public information about new goods and trying to increase overall sales, which increases the efficiency of the nations economy. It is supposed to be a significant way of getting the point across about a product and create motivation for people to buy. Advertising alone, however, does not get customers. It simply catches consumers attention, gets them to walk up to a shelf, and make an impulsive purchase. However, getting the customer back requires a more creative marketing approach. There are several ways to research consumers behaviors, likes, and dislikes. The most popular method is tests and surveys, both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The 13th amendment grants freedom to all, except for criminals. ( Michelle Alexander, 2014) With that being documented it gave the nation a tool to throw us behind bars for years to come. History of Early North American Colonies Essay The European conquest for establishing North American colonies began with various motivations, each dependent on different, and/or merging necessities: economics, the desire to flee negative societal aspects, and the search for religious freedoms. When traveling to London from urban areas created overpopulation in the city, and increasingly horrendous conditions, the move to a more prosperous land seemed more and more inviting. This idea was further enhanced by the works of English Richard Hakluyt in novels such as The Principal Navigations, Voyages, and Discoveries of the English Nation, and Voyages, where readers were given false insight into a vastly successful New World, theoretically open for prosperous settlement. Those which moved to London with abortive attempts to find work, or which experienced the scarcity of food/land supplies between 1580 and 1650, found these inviting opportunities as an escape to otherwise, inevitable poverty. Conversely, those living in stable, prosperous societies, with satisfactory social statuses, were less likely to be motivated by the influential works of Richard Hakluyt and the overall conquest of America. Those experiencing religious unrest among the Catholic Church and the Protestants embraced the opportunity to establish new settlements in the New World. For years, the Protestants and Catholics battled for territory; during the reign of Edward VI, Protestants attempted to exterminate Catholic origins, and following his death, Queen Mary s rule involved the execution of Protestants. Because they are not readily stored, consistent daily intake is important. Many types of water soluble vitamins are synthesized by bacteria. Fat soluble vitamins are absorbed through the intestinal tract with the help of lipids (fats). Because they are more likely to accumulate in the body, they are more likely to lead to hypervitaminosis than are water soluble vitamins. Fat soluble vitamin regulation is of particular significance in cystic fibrosis. Until the 1900s, vitamins were obtained solely through food intake, and changes in diet (which, for example, could occur during a particular growing season) can alter the types and amounts of vitamins ingested. This is true in many cases but none as much as in Great Expectations. In many ways the narrator/protagonist Pip is Charles Dickens in body and mind. This constant is the way Pip as the narrator feels, because these feelings are Dickens s own feelings about the life he lead. Since Great Expectations was written towards end of Charles Dickens life, he was wiser and able to make out the mistakes and regrets of his life, and Pip experiences them all. Fur Industry s Effect on Society The fur trading industry played a major role in the development of the United States and Canada for more than 300 years. The fur trade began in the 1500 s as an exchange between Indians and Europeans. The Indians traded furs for such goods as tools and weapons. Beaver fur, which was used in Europe to make felt hats, became the most valuable of these furs. The fur trade prospered until the mid 1800, when fur bearing animals became scarce and silk hats became more popular than felt hats made with beaver. Traders and trappers explored much of North America in search of fur. They built trading posts in the wilderness, and settlements grew up around many of these posts. Some of these settlements later became such major cities as Detroit, New Orleans, and St. Louis in the United States; and Edmonton, Montreal, Quebec, and Winnipeg in Canada. Also as a result of the Fur trade, the beaver population depleted, Indian trappers became debilitated, tribal cultures buckled under the pressure of new economic motives, tools and values. Consequently, since production fell within an area, the traders moved and settlers moved in developing farms and towns. The Indians in that area were either killed or moved by the government. ... • 48. Financial Health Of A Company Liquidity Ratios The financial health of a business greatly depends on its ability to maintain current commitments and obligations. Liquidity or the ability to generate cash from current assets to meet short term obligations as well as unforeseen responsibility is important for the subsistence of a company. A reasonable level of liquidity is essential to the survival of a company, as poor cash control is one of the main reasons for business failure. (Pyke, 2007) Through utilization of tools, such as liquidity ratios, or financial metrics, to evaluate the company s ability to meet current business obligations, should the debt needs to be settled, we are able to assess its immediate financial strength. Liquidity ratios provide creditors as well as businesses a quick analysis tool, using data, which are readily available from annual financial statements, to complete these assessments. These ratios are critical to creditors and are the most widely used ratios, perhaps next to profitability ratios. (Joe Lan, 2002) Liquidity ratios include current ratio, quick ratio (also referred to as acid test ratio), net working capital ratio, and cash ratio. Current ratio is the most basic or fundamental of the four and focuses mainly on current assets, while quick ratio is more stringent, eliminating inventory and prepaid expenses, as both are more difficult to liquidate (Morningstar, 2016). Cash ratio is the most conservative , as it mainly focuses on cash and investments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Why Hunting Should Be For Providing Food And Resources As... Oh Deer There are multiple and personal ways to look at hunting, such as a way to provide life or even a sport. There are also different tactics in hunting, such as high fence, low fence, endangered, poaching and etc. Ethically I believe the means of hunting should purposely be for providing food and resources as needed. More than 38 million Americans hunt and fish, as stated by nhfday.org. These statistics were in 2012 and records have concluded that the numbers have increased since then making hunting a higher demand. I believe as a hunter you should have a purpose for killing an animal. For example, many hunt for the meat, but you can utilize the rest of the animal for different resources, like bones or antlers being made into knives. Responsible hunters should be defined as respectful to natural resources because hunting provides a way of life and population control. Surveys are taken across the United States in various ways. In Texas we have multiple ways in how we calculate the white tailed deer population. Right now, our current ratio of doe s to bucks is 10:1. We are overpopulated in both genders, but mainly in doe s which is why were limited on how many bucks we are allowed to kill per season. For the hunting season of 2015 2016, you were allowed to kill 5 white tailed deer in total; only 3 are allowed to be bucks or antlerless while the remaining 2 are strictly antlerless deer. Texas harvests the largest amount of white tailed deer in the country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The play creates a fictitious account of the actual history of Henry the Eighth s break from the Catholic Church. Many Europes: Choice and Chance in Western Civilization textbook by Paul Dutton, Suzanne Marchand, and Deborah Harkness and Henry VIII by William Shakespeare allows for the ability to decide the truth from the fiction. After Henry declared his supremacy, the Christian church separated, forming the Church of England. Henry installed the Acts of Succession and the first Act of Supremacy, declaring the king was the only Supreme Head in Earth of the Church of England. (Dutton, Marchand, and Harkness 401). Fully separated now from the pope, the Church of England was under England s rule, not Rome s. Henry VIII by William Shakespeare shows a neutral bias towards the king. The play presents the events during King Henry VIII to be predetermined. The fallen characters prevented the birth of Queen Elizabeth and therefore it can be understood that their decline in station was an outcome of fate. Henry VIII expresses the birth of the queen as a savior for England and all the circumstances leading to her birth were destined to happen thus King Henry was just a pawn in history. Shakespeare s significance plays a huge role when establishing historical viewpoints. The play creates a fictitious account of the actual history of Henry the Eighth s break from the Catholic Church. With Shakespeare s added fiction he shapes Henry VIII s reign as a fated destiny. His play focuses more on the importance of the birth of Queen Elizabeth than the importance of Henry VIII denouncing the pope. Shakespeare took pieces of English history, condensed it, excluded much of it, and fictionalized the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. John Hancock Is The Founding Father Out of all the important contributors to the founding of the United States of America, John Hancock is the Founding Father I chose to research and learn the most about. I feel as though all of the other Founding Fathers are well known and everyone knows a little about each one. John Hancock, for me personally, I knew little to nothing about and I wanted to learn more. I like to learn a lot about subjects that I know nothing about. I also picked John Hancock because of his signature. On every document he signed, his name would be the the most prominent signature. His signature is one of the most well known and I wanted to absorb all of the details about this particular individual behind the signature. John Hancock, who was born in Braintree, Massachusetts on January 23, 1737 grew up with his mother, father, and two siblings. At a very early age, Hancock s father passed away and his mother was too poor to maintain the household, so John was raised by his aunt and uncle. John s uncle, Thomas Hancock, was a wealthy merchant and he owned a very sophisticated mansion in Boston. After graduating in 1750, John continued his education at Harvard University. In 1754, he earned his degree and then went on to work for his uncle at his real estate and shipping business. Soon after, Thomas Hancock passed away and John took over the family business and managed to make it very successful and became the richest man in Boston. Despite his fame and fortune, John was a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
