The Common Archetypes In Ethan Frome, By Edith Wharton
The well known narrative, Ethan Frome, is often described as similar to many classic fairy tales.
Resembling most fairy tales, not only is the plot of Ethan Frome is kept simple and straightforward,
but the novel also contains a number of common archetypes often found in fairy tales, such as a
wicked witch and princess. The book s plot, however, reflects a close affinity to the original fairy tale,
Snow White. The novel, Ethan Frome, by Edith Wharton easily compares to many classic fairy tales,
especially Snow White.
One of the common archetypes found in Snow White, is the evil stepmother/witch. This role fits the
character Zeena. In the original version of Snow White and the novel, Ethan Frome, both Zeena and
the Wicked Queen both fulfill the role of an older ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mattie displays a clear relation between her and the silvery maiden archetype. Not only does her last
name insinuate this, but her personality and appearance as well. Mattie is described in the novel as
forgetful and dreamy as if she were more childish than mature. In Disney s portrayal of the classic
film, Snow White, Snow White let s the disguised witch in not once or twice, but three times. Each
which led to Snow White almost dying, and the third time being fatal. Snow White s actions in the
film lead to the conclusion that she displays many child like characteristics. Her sense of trust and
foolishness lead to her death. Mattie, who is only twenty one, is described in the narrative as lively
and always happy, much like a child. One of the biggest correlations between Mattie and Snow White
is their similarity in appearance. Mattie Silver s black hair, red cheeks, and white skin complement the
appearance of Snow White in both the fairy tale and the film. The similarities between Mattie and
Snow While are visible to the reader through their personalities and

Designing A Successful Brand Collaboration
Introduction
What comes to your mind if Tumi meets Mini Cooper? What do you think if fashion meets soda? You
will be surprised and curious about them. This is the magic of brand collaboration. Collaboration
strategy becomes a trend/mainstream in various fields these years. The idea of brand collaboration is
frequently used in different industries, especially the fashion, food, and film industry. Forming a
successful brand collaboration is one of the best and most effective ways to reach new customers. An
unexpected collaboration can refresh strategy and build a good brand awareness. More and more
brands realize these benefits of collaboration, so it becomes a popular choice for them to form
partnerships with others. The trend of brand collaboration will continue a couple years, so it becomes
more competitive because more industries and brands decide to enter this trend. Reconsidering who
and how to strengthen the collaboration can be the way of developing the strategies in the future.
Companies need to select a good/fit partner and identify the idea they want to achieve in order to set
up a successful collaboration. Customers will still have a large interest in this trend but there are few
matters that customers would like to have improved, such as quality or functions.
Fashion industry s innovation: H M
In recent years, brand collaboration has become a popular trend in the fashion industry. It opens a
wide market for different fields, such as Moncler with Rimowa, Apple

Kalam Cosmological Argument Analysis
The Kalam Cosmological argument is considered one of the most powerful argument for Gods
existence. The syllogism goes like this, Whatever begins to exist has a cause; The universe began to
exist; Therefore: The universe has a cause. Being able to give a reason to why one believes something
should be the foundation of one s belief. The universe either had a beginning or it is eternal, there is
no middle ground in the Kalam Cosmological argument (Vitale 103). Many will try and take premise
one of the argument and say that in physics there is no such thing as nothing. Instead, skeptics will say
that the universe doesn t need a creator because according to the laws of quantum mechanics it can
just come into existence from nothing. This nothing

Refuge In The Wild Research Paper
Imagine not having any sense of security. No matter what or who you turn to there nothing but the
unknown. If a person does not have refuge it makes it difficult for a person to function. Refuge can be
a fundamental part of a person s life. Having refuge can be enough to stabilize a someone. In some
cases refuge may be the only reason, someone may be working towards success. Since refuge can
assist an individual with overcoming issue, it is a basic part of their peace of mind. Most individuals
find refuge within their family: Chris says to her I m going to have to be real careful not to accept any

Examples Of Stereotyping And Prejudice
About Stereotyping and Prejudice
Prejudice of any kind implies that you are identified with the thinking mind. It means you don t see
the other human being anymore, but only your own concept of that human being.
To reduce the aliveness of another human being to a concept is already a form of violence.
― Eckhart Tolle, Stillness Speaks (pp. 20)
According to wikipedia Social cognition is the encoding, storage, retrieval, and processing, of
information about conspecifics (members of the same species) in the social psychology field this is

When and why we in stereotype?
In the first article that I decided to review (Staple Noordewier, 2011) they went through a series of
correlation and experimental studies concluded that system justification motives result in stereotyping
and the motive behind it is the need for structure. They also mention the fact that people who feel part
of unjust systems are also more likely to engage in stereotyping and the impact of system justification
threat on stereotyping disappears when the desire to justify the system is satisfied through an
alternative route.
The system justification theory, described in this article, proposes that when people stereotype they
aren t just healing or preserving their selves but are instead providing justifications for the social
structure they belong to, and their believes that the world is just and legitimate. But why this need for
a justification? Simply because systems provide structure and humans need that

Where Am I Wearing
Where Am I Wearing a New World Kelsey Timmerman, from rural Ohio, is the author of the book
Where Am I Wearing. The spark that influenced his interest in traveling to other countries was because
of the pile of clothes on his floor. After Timmerman saw this, he looked at the tags on his clothes. He
then wondered exactly where did his clothes come from. The group of people that this book surrounds
are American Consumers. Timmerman wanted them to lose their consumer innocence. He wanted
them to change their buying habits because the clothes equal the people. Kelsey Timmerman wrote
this book because he wanted the American Consumers to see exactly where their clothes are from. He

greatful that our parents/ guardians are that they go to work and come home later on that evening; Not
for Dingo s family. Dingo s family has to wait three whole months just to see him again for only a

The Discovery Of The Space Station
Someday, somehow, Clarke knew that she would witness the beauty of Earth. She would be able to
feel the sun warm her skin, and have the wind kiss her cheeks as she walked through a forest. Maybe
she would watch a rabbit hop out of a bush, or follow butterflies as she wandered carelessly around
the ground if those creatures were still alive from all the radiation. Her father had always told her
stories about Earth, visualizing it as a heaven for the living. It had been nearly ninety seven years
since the last humans touched the Earth s surface, and only a couple hundred thousand had survived
long enough to make it to the Ark the space station where the last human beings have been living in
since the nuclear bombings. Had the humans not been at conflict with one another, then maybe they
would still be inhabitants of Earth. But war brought distrust, and distrust in the other countries led to
nuclear warfare. While watching the old documentaries of the last surviving humans retelling their
stories of Earth, Clarke realized how different the Ark was, and how she would never live to her fullest
until she was on the ground. The Ark was always cold, and empty, and the oxygen she breathed felt, if
she could describe it in a word, fake. Surely, Clarke had never before breathed oxygen from the
ground, but its as almost as if her mind knew the oxygen she breathed wasn t right. As she sat against
the stone wall of her small cell, she stared at her drawings of Earth. With only a

Earth Landing

Earth Landing
20% of the world are convinced that the Apollo 11 moon landing in July 20, 1969 was faked. For the
past several decades, a small group of NASA watching sleuths has repeatedly tried to pawn off the
incredulous idea that the Apollo Moon program really was an elaborate, $30 billion hoax filmed in a
movie studio. This group believes the United States needed to cement its world leadership during the
Cold War by pretending to pull off what really was a technologically impossible stunt (Villard, 2004).
If actor Orson Welles was able to convince over one million Americans that martians were invading
Earth, there s no doubt the more powerful government could persuade U.S. citizens and keep the
entire moon landing hoax a secret.
Conspiracy theorists pointed out when the first moon landing was shown on live television, viewers
could clearly see the American flag waving and fluttering as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin planted
it. Photos of the landing also seem to show rippling in a breeze, such as the image above which clearly
shows a fold in the flag. The obvious problem here is that there s no air in the moon s atmosphere, and
therefore no wind to cause the flag to blow (Fox, 2012).
The claim goes as follows: had NASA really landed us on the moon, there would be a blast crater
underneath the lunar module to mark its landing. On any video footage or photograph of the landings,
no crater is visible, almost as

How Does Hitchcock Use Lighting In The 39 Steps
The 39 Steps is a 1935 thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock successfully created a
mysterious and nerve stimulating atmosphere throughout the whole film, thus making this film a hit
over the century. Mindy Cooper, an artist in residence at UC Davis, recreated this masterpiece but
made a slightly different approach by inserting some comedic elements. On the other hand, the
lighting designer Pamila Z. Gray works effectively with the rest of the creative team, and they bring
out great and appealing effects for UC Davis version of The 39 Steps. Since most of the scenes take
place at night time, Gray puts a lot of effort in creating the nighttime lighting. On both sides of the
stage, there are two pipes with lighting instruments hanging. Gray uses orange lights for the first row
and blue lights for the second row. The blue lights effectively notify the audience that the scenes take
place at night, while the orange lights help to highlight the characters. It is a smart act using orange
lights instead of tungsten lights since orange is the light of street light, so they can help to create a
more realistic scene and make the audience think that this is a real life incident. Therefore, the
audience will easily insert their sentiment when watching this melodrama. The blue lights also work
well since cool color brings the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theatre is calm and stable, so it is hard to depict a transportation, especially when the characters
have to chase and being chased on the train. However, the lighting design makes a large contribution
on that as Gray uses the rapid, circular movements of lights to illustrate the movement of the train. In
actual world, when people sit on a moving train, the sunlight will come and leave the passengers face
instantly and continuously. Gray seizes this feature and vividly tells the audience that the characters

A Madman s Diary By Lu Xun Analysis
Many authors use their work to express their thoughts about the flaws in the societies in which they
live. Lu Xun masks his criticisms of the once feudal society in China in his story, A Madman s Diary,
by comparing the feudalistic society to cannibalism. The story begins with the narrator going to visit
two brothers. Upon arrival, the narrator learns that the younger of the two brothers has recently been
cured of madness, and moved away. The older sibling offers the narrator his brother s diary for the
narrator to read. After the narrator s explanation of how he got the madman s diary, the rest of the
story is composed of various entries from the diary the narrator was given. In the diary entries, it is
learned that the madman is very fearful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In A Madman s Diary, the madman is the only one who is truly in touch with reality. He is the only
one who is seeing the true cannibalistic nature of the feudal system. The metaphor between
cannibalism and feudalism is meant to convey to the readers the flaws of the feudal system without Lu
Xun directly criticizing the system. Even though the madman is currently terrified of the society he is
living in, he shows hope for a better future. In the last diary entry, he ponders the possibility of the
nature of this society changing. He questions whether or not there are children who have not
consumed other people. He says that the children need to be saved from the nature of this society of
consuming other people to live. This represents Lu Xun s belief that the feudalistic society can change
if the ways of that society are not taught to the children and that he has hope for the future of society.
...The narrator cultivates and maintains the courage to hope that the future for the children of China
will be separate from the past (Laws 51). Lu Xun conveys a sense of hope for a better future in China
through the madman s hope in the story. The madman is the only one who is truly aware of the
problems of the society that they live in. Everyone else around him simply seems to accept the ways
of life. Metaphorically, this is representative of how normal people are blind to the problems of the
feudal system, and that it would take a madman to see the issues behind how they are living. Lu Xun
uses the madman s fear of cannibalism in society to convey to readers his own fear of

Dupot Pipeline Tragedy
The horrible tragedy at the DuPont Chemical Plant in La Porte, Texas, which ended in four innocent
people losing their lives, began roughly 5 days prior to the accident. It was November 10, 2014, when
a reactor in the plants Lannate unit, an insecticide DuPont produces for many agricultural purposes,
went down for an unscheduled maintenance. Lannate is produced by reacting toxic methyl mercaptan
with other chemicals. Two days later on November 12th, after all the up keep was taken care of on the
reactor, they tried to start it up again. They were unsuccessful in starting up the reactor, and further
investigation revealed a slurry blocking any passage through the pipelines which lead to the reactor.
However, slurries were a very common thing during shutdowns. They form when methyl mercaptan
reacts with other stagnate chemicals in the pipeline, forming a blockage. To clear this slurry, operators
began pumping hot water through the piping to try and break it up. By noon on November 13th,
operators deemed they had cleared the slurry. During the hot water pumping, a valve was accidentally
left opened, which allowed roughly 2,000 pounds of water to flow into the methyl mercaptan feedline
and storage tank. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They decided to run hot water directly over top of the section of piping where the blockage was
located to try and bring the temperature up to 52°F to melt the methyl mercaptan hydrate. They would
use pressure indicators along the piping to identify where the hydrate was as it began to move along
the piping. However, when they began this process, they closed a valve that would have allowed
methyl mercaptan to flow from the storage tank and into the shutdown reactor unit. Due to this valve
being closed, the methyl mercaptan that was being pumped from the storage tank to try and help clear
the blockage had only one place to go, and that was into the vent header

The Female Heroine In The 1970 s
Until the 1970 s, female heroines were almost unheard of in movies or television shows. Then, the
science fiction genre gained popularity and Star Wars followed. Men and women alike were interested
in the films and story. Princess Leia was not the generic damsel in distress, but instead was a quick
thinking soldier for the rebel forces. Soon, fans and authors began to fill in the gaps before, between,
and after the movies. Female fans went from having just Princess Leia and a few female side
characters to many characters in the written expanded universe. During this time, the prequel movies
were announced, and many fans were at first excited and then disappointed. The newer movies did not
live up to the original trilogy. Also, female fans were more disappointed to receive Padmè while the
main heroes were again male characters. Finally, Star Wars Episode VII, later known as The Force

Similarities Between Genesis And Bhagavad Gita
Genesis, a text in the Hebrew Bible, and The Bhagavad Gita, a dated Hindu poem, are both influential
classic texts that tell the accounts of two powerful Gods, who share a similar agenda. Although they
are similar deities, each has a different way to influence the world. It is apparent in the text that
Krishna seems not to care about what acts one commits in the material world, but rather if one person
fulfills his or her spiritual duty to him; his concept of spiritual duty is to have complete reverence and
idolization of him and him only. Unlike Krishna, in Genesis, God s main goal is to have humankind
refrain from evil and do what is righteous by following commandments. In addition, even though both
gods display themselves in a self glorifying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Bhagavad Gita, Krishna s clear explanations of his tenants and his acquitting nature show him to
have active reasoning, as long as one worships him. For instance, Krishna acknowledges the existence
of other gods, but doesn t acknowledge their will. He says, The yogi firmly set in oneness, (stanza 31)
Krishna in this case tells Arjuna to only worship him alone , then gives explanations to why he should
do so in the following verse, saying The yogi who sees all the same analogous to his own self in
happiness or sufferings is thought supreme, (stanza 32) This assertion indicates that Krishna gives
effective explanations to emphasize on the sanctity of knowledge, and the necessity of attaining it the
proper way by convincing humans to worship him. Unlike Krishna, the God in Genesis demands trust,
and blind obedience. Because God in genesis appears to be the most powerful, and all omniscient with
no other being in the world to ever compare to, he expects humans to follow his orders without having
the need to explain himself. despite the fact that his order may go against their will and desires. For
example, when God commands Abraham to kill his own son, he doesn t provide any validation as to
why he should do so. Yet Abraham had to follow what God had ordered him to do, despite that it was
against both his will and against the fact that he was murdering his own son for an unknown reason.
This command shows the emphasis of the Hebrew Bible on having faith, trust and devotion for

specifically those raised for food, deserve to live a comfortable life free of cruelty and neglect. Despite
this belief, many factory farm animals are abused and neglected in such ways that, if witnessed by

Chickens used for egg production typically live in one of many battery cages crammed into a long
windowless shed. Ten or more of these hens are packed together in a cage that is about the size of a
drawer in a filing cabinet. This causes frustration and fighting between the hens. To keep this from
happening, farmers often cut or burn part of their beaks off without medicine to dull the pain. Hens
who become sick are usually not given proper veterinary care and are left to die slowly and painfully.
Some of the eggs laid by the hens are hatched by another industry to supply more chickens for egg
production. Since the hatched male chicks cannot lay eggs, they are often killed by grinding or
suffocation. When the hens grow old and stop producing as many eggs, many farmers will deny them
proper nutrition to try and shock their bodies into laying eggs one last time. Then they are slaughtered
and their bodies are used for food scraps. Most of the pigs raised in the U.S. live on large scale factory
farms where they are overcrowded and treated inhumanely. At an extremely young age, piglets are
stolen from their mothers and placed in crowded, windowless pens. Due to being jampacked, the
piglets do not have much range of motion and are constantly laying in their own waste material. This
can cause extreme irritation so they begin biting each others tails, causing farmers to rip off their tails
and teeth without a sedative to ease the pain. Most sows in the U.S.

Implicit Stereotyping And Evaluation
Stereotyping occurs when individuals form cognitive conceptions of out group members, associating
certain characteristics with that group (Smith and Mackie, 2007; Hamilton, 1981), whereas prejudice
is a positive or negative evaluation directed towards an out group (Smith and Mackie, 2007). Current
research depicts them as independent constructs, comprising different behavioural responses. An
interrelation is indicated by considerable indirect evidence, specifically that prejudice is an inevitable
consequence of stereotyping. Research demonstrates that cognitive processes trigger implicit
stereotyping and affective processes trigger implicit evaluation; inferring independence. Amodio and
Devine (2006) conducted several implicit association tests (IATs), concluding that stereotyping and
evaluation were uncorrelated. However their finding of a double dissociation implies a link, the
former being implicated in semantic learning and memory, and the latter in affective types. ... Show

study, participants recorded their feelings towards an African American student, followed by
completing evaluative and stereotyping IATs; this raises the issue of causal inference due to demand

Lord Of The Flies Teamwork Vs Independence Essay
I believe that being in a group is much more beneficial than being independent. Throughout the book
lord of the flies there are two tribes who represent teamwork versus independence. There is Ralph s
tribe who are democratic and work as a group for survival. Then on the other side there is Jacks tribe
where everyone is free to do whatever they want. The definition of teamwork is The process of
working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal . This ties in perfectly with
the novel because Ralph s tribe is working together and sharing ideas to achieve their goal of getting
rescued. There are three reasons why I believe working in a group is better than being independent.
The first reason is that two heads are always better than one. The second is that teamwork allows
people to accomplish projects and goals which are difficult to do alone. My final reason is that
teamwork builds morale.

Time Series Forecasting And Neural Networks
Abstract
Time series forecasting plays an important role in the academic and practical domains. Many
researchers have studied on this area from several years. There are many models which are used to
improve the accuracy of time series forecasting. In this paper, I have focused on one method i.e.
Neural Networks. In the first section of the report, I will give brief introduction on time series
forecasting and neural networks. In the next part, I will explain this neural method which is used for
forecasting in the literature review. At last, I will conclude the paper. Moreover, the main aim of this
paper is to define the neural network method among the different methods in the time series
forecasting.
Introduction
Time series forecasting is a quantitative model. It means that historical results are gathered to produce
the results to predict the future. This model is used in that situation where no information is available
or provided data is not satisfactory. Time series is a series of experiments which is measured to get
successive results such as, x1, x2, x3.......Xt 2, Xt 1 Xt. These experiments may be done every day,
every hour or every year. It is important to understand the data pattern to achieve the aim that hoe
variables behaved in the past. It has two types of models which are linear and non linear. Moreover,
linear methods are easy to construct and understand. This is used when there are a huge number of
forecasts to be done. Many researchers have done efforts to

personal use and protection given to criminals and law breakers by the MP and MLA. At the point
when this debate comes to a threshold point, the IAS is either transferred or kept under dread of

Nursing Home Suicide
Many nursing home residents, including the elderly residents at Hoosier Christian Village, struggle
daily with symptoms of situational depression, anxiety, and various mental illnesses brought on by
inactivity, decline in physical and mental competence, and the unavoidable confrontation with death.
In addition, many residents are admitted to the residence because of previous mental illnesses;
therefore, future development or recurrence of these diseases is nearly inevitable. Studies at several
universities worldwide have concluded that the assertion of youth in local assisted living residences
has aided tremendously in battling these mental illnesses. They have also conducted research that
infers that youth involvement with the elderly in their communities can combat the persistence and
development of depression. Therefore, baking cookies and donating them to the Hoosier Christian
Village can be exceedingly beneficial to the residents. These cookies would allow the idea of bringing

Assimilation And Its Effects On Adolescents And Family...
In the United States, the Latino community continues to grow at a steady pace and with this increase
in population comes a greater complexity in family relations and a unique set of problems. Nowadays,
Latino Families feature children who were born in the United States but have at least one foreign born
parent, and also foreign born children who immigrated to this country. Whether they are first
immigrants or second generation, Latino youth deals with different levels of acculturation and the
stress that this process brings. Realizing that acculturation plays an important role in the Latino
families, a number of studies have examined the negative effects that acculturation stress brings to
adolescents and family relationships, including behavioral problems, perceived discrimination, ethnic
identity, depression symptoms, and substance abuse. Let s start by understanding the concept of
acculturation and the stress associated with it. Acculturation is a process by which individuals obtain
the practices, values, and identity from the receiving culture in this case the United States culture
while at the same time conserving those associated with their own heritage. Naturally, this bi
dimensional process represents an added stress for Latino families as they have to learn to function
efficiently under a different physical environment, an unfamiliar public system, a new language, and
probably face a reduced social status, as well.
Under these circumstances, Latino adolescents

Essay on Lupus

Lupus
Lupus is a potentially life threatening disease that effects about 1.5 million Americans. Lupus can
effect many different parts of the body. Lupus is a type of autoimmune system disorder in which the
body cannot distinguish the difference between foreign antibodies and its own organs. So basically
what happens is that the body ends up attacking its own organs thinking they are foreign substances.
(The Lupus Foundation of America)

Some may include: Achy joints, Fever of over 100 degrees, arthritis, extreme fatigue, skin rashes,
anxiety, kidney involvement, pain in the chest area or trouble breathing, rash, light sensitivity, hair
loss, blood clotting problems, seizures, and mouth and nose ulcers. This is a giant list of symptoms,
but many people who have Lupus do not experience more then one or two of these symptoms. (The
Lupus Foundation of America, The Lupus Page)
There are many different ways to treat Lupus. The most common treatment does not cure Lupus, but
minimizes the symptoms and reduces inflammation. Support groups to help relieve anxiety and
regular exercise can help treat the disease as well. There are a bunch of drugs that can be prescribed to
help treat the specific symptoms. Most of these drugs are anti inflammatory drugs. Some of them are
as simple as over the counter painkillers like Tylenol, while others can be powerful steroids with anti
inflammatory agents in them. (The Lupus Foundation of America, The Lupus Page)
In conclusion Lupus is definitely a very serious disease that we must learn more about. My great aunt
had Lupus for over ten years and during that time suffered in ways no person should have to. She
would fall down constantly and break bones. Near the end of her life, she would break bones doing
stuff as simple as getting out of bed.

The Major Differences Between Democratic, Authoritarian,...
The major differences between democratic, authoritarian, and anarchic political systems are who holds
the power, who has freedom/how much, and how much involvement the government has in the
workings of its country. For authoritarian states, the power is held mainly by a single person or an elite
group of people, few people have freedom, with what freedom they have being limited, and the
government, or rather the leader/leaders, is involved in almost every aspect of the country from
controlling the economy to making decisions for the lifestyles of its citizens like deciding how many
kids they may have or what hair styles are approved. Everything is at the whim of those in charge and
can change at any second. Anarchic is the exact opposite of this. In an anarchic government, everyone
has power all the power they can take for themselves, nothing is unpermitted as there are no laws and
since a government doesn t exist, it can t have any involvement in anything. Finally there is the
democratic system which is a happy medium between these two extremes. In a democracy, everyone
has some power through the right to vote directly or for elected officials who will run the country
(who are limited by a constitution of some kind), everyone has freedom within the country s generally
reasonable laws, and government involvement is limited to making laws and regulations within reason
to protect its citizens, economy, etc. For example, you would not see a democratic nation forbidding

The Declaration of Independence, written in 1776, outlines the wrongdoings of the British government

an important document from the French Revolution. The government, broken down in three estates,

The Generation X And Generation Y
In this study, the most interesting insight I read that the article distinguishes two generations,
generation X and generation Y, they have varied on expectation of life. Additionally, the employer
should realize to diversities of employee personality in the organization, which might contribute to
making a conflict in teamwork such as having the different attitude, not understanding in other
characteristics, confident of subconscious and so on. The generation X, who is composed of the parent
of generation Y (born between 1965 and 1981), this generation has an optimistic aspect, and also
prefer having life balances with working hard. In contrast, the generation Y (born between 1982 and
2000), the generation Y (born between 1982 and 2000), who grew up with enslavement by technology
and have more independent (Susaeta et al. 2013). So, I have comprehended the key which might
helpful to make deduction of working in the future.
However, I think the personal behavior depends on education developmental, nation cultural and the
environment where is they grew up, especially the influence of family affects to new generation
thinking. As can be seen in the study of the authors of attitude to work shows that the means for
attitudes to work both for individuals in generation X and Y are slightly different, it might because of
the nation cultural. For example , Thai cultural is always taught young people that they should respect
to eldest people is for showing more sincerity and honoring ,

Analysis Of No Longer At Ease By Chinua Achebe
In the 1950s, most African nations commenced fighting for independence. In this context, Chinua
Achebe wrote his second novel, No Longer at Ease published during Nigeria s independence. The
story occurs in Lagos and Umuofia and the main character, Obi, got money from the Umuofians to
study in England. Nonetheless, when he returned to Nigeria, he is trapped between his tradition and
western culture. In the book, Achebe stresses a theme of colonial mindset through the refutation of
Nigerian culture, through the use of English and through the divinization of the white man.
Achebe highlights the presence of a colonial mindset in Nigeria throughout the book. Indeed, he
shows how colonialism affected Nigerian customs. For instance, ... Show more content on

present in Africa but in almost all African countries. Therefore, the question that should be asked is
what the correlation between underdevelopment in Africa and colonial mindset

Portraits During The Renaissance
During the Renaissance, portraits were very powerful to the Italian culture and society because they
highlighted the development of the individual. This is important because the Renaissance focused on
classical learning and art, rather than just religious figures which can be portrayed through different
portraits showing actual living people and represents humanism. Portraits in the early 15th century
were meant to be represented as the ideal republican citizen , and were also made to honor the dead
and be given as wedding gifts. People giving others portraits as gifts was a very popular thing to do
back then, especially to friends or family members because it was a way to express love and affection
towards others. Also, portraits during the Renaissance highlighted the importance of family ancestors
through history in the Italian culture.
It is very important to emphasize how Italian women were represented in portrait painting during the
Renaissance, considering how much it changed from the early 13th century, to the 15th century. In the

Maggie A Girl Of The Street
Race and gender are topics that are examined not matter what the writing style. Naturalist and realist
writers work is no different in that aspect. However I feel that they way naturalist writers create and
write their female characters. I find that most of the female characters are treated as the weaker sex
within naturalist works. It also is clear that in naturalist works the gender roles are not strictly
enforced. If we take a look at The Yellow Wall Paper and Maggie a Girl of the Streets we can see
many examples of this.

Later when our narrator finally takes control of her own thoughts we get the true picture of who her
husband is. We no longer see him in a protective, strong leader and husband. Instead we find the role
to be reversed, and we can even see him behaving much like a woman.
Within Maggie tale, which is very much a realist work, we can see the same treatment of women.
Specifically within Maggie s own life. Once her family has discovered that she has slept with Pete she
is shunned, and thrown away. Maggie while not oppressed by one specific person, or the social forces
that are out of her control oppress event like Gilman s narrator is still oppressed .
Both tales tell of a women who is unhappy, unable to escape, and deeply oppressed. I do not think that
women are treated or portrayed any different in either style of writing. Women in general during this
time period are consider to be weak, mild, and meek creatures. They are considered disposable and we
can see that in both of these women. They dream of better lives and want to escape, however they do
not have the means, or the power to do so. The only difference between the two is the Gilman s story,
which is a naturalist work, allows for more freedom with the gender roles and gender role reversal.

call it the 3 H s, a trinity for leadership that influences, inspires, and promotes teamwork. Truth is a
key element for the 3 H s. A leader s head must be centered around truth. Truthful about the
organization s objectives and how the leader envisions a plan to achieve those objectives. Truthful
about his or her motives, emotions, strengths, and weaknesses. I know, probably most leaders would

The syllogism goes like this, Whatever begins to exist has a cause; The universe began to exist; Therefore: The universe has a cause. Being able to give a reason to why one believes something should be the foundation of one s belief. The universe either had a beginning or it is eternal, there is no middle ground in the Kalam Cosmological argument (Vitale 103). They also mention the fact that people who feel part of unjust systems are also more likely to engage in stereotyping and the impact of system justification threat on stereotyping disappears when the desire to justify the system is satisfied through an alternative route. The system justification theory, described in this article, proposes that when people stereotype they aren t just healing or preserving their selves but are instead providing justifications for the social structure they belong to, and their believes that the world is just and legitimate. She would be able to feel the sun warm her skin, and have the wind kiss her cheeks as she walked through a forest. Maybe she would watch a rabbit hop out of a bush, or follow butterflies as she wandered carelessly around the ground if those creatures were still alive from all the radiation. Her father had always told her stories about Earth, visualizing it as a heaven for the living. It had been nearly ninety seven years since the last humans touched the Earth s surface, and only a couple hundred thousand had survived long enough to make it to the Ark the space station where the last human beings have been living in since the nuclear bombings. Had the humans not been at conflict with one another, then maybe they would still be inhabitants of Earth. But war brought distrust, and distrust in the other countries led to nuclear warfare. While watching the old documentaries of the last surviving humans retelling their stories of Earth, Clarke realized how different the Ark was, and how she would never live to her fullest until she was on the ground. The Ark was always cold, and empty, and the oxygen she breathed felt, if she could describe it in a word, fake. The Discovery Of The Apollo 11 Moon Landing 9/11/15 Jared Barney Earth Landing Stanford Earth Landing 20% of the world are convinced that the Apollo 11 moon landing in July 20, 1969 was faked. For the past several decades, a small group of NASA watching sleuths has repeatedly tried to pawn off the incredulous idea that the Apollo Moon program really was an elaborate, $30 billion hoax filmed in a movie studio. This group believes the United States needed to cement its world leadership during the Cold War by pretending to pull off what really was a technologically impossible stunt (Villard, 2004). If actor Orson Welles was able to convince over one million Americans that martians were invading Earth, there s no doubt the more powerful government could persuade U.S. citizens and keep the entire moon landing hoax a secret. Conspiracy theorists pointed out when the first moon landing was shown on live television, viewers could clearly see the American flag waving and fluttering as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin planted it. Photos of the landing also seem to show rippling in a breeze, such as the image above which clearly shows a fold in the flag. The obvious problem here is that there s no air in the moon s atmosphere, and therefore no wind to cause the flag to blow (Fox, 2012). The claim goes as follows: had NASA really landed us on the moon, there would be a blast crater underneath the lunar module to mark its landing. • 11. How Does Hitchcock Use Lighting In The 39 Steps The 39 Steps is a 1935 thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock successfully created a mysterious and nerve stimulating atmosphere throughout the whole film, thus making this film a hit over the century. Mindy Cooper, an artist in residence at UC Davis, recreated this masterpiece but made a slightly different approach by inserting some comedic elements. On the other hand, the lighting designer Pamila Z. Gray works effectively with the rest of the creative team, and they bring out great and appealing effects for UC Davis version of The 39 Steps. Since most of the scenes take place at night time, Gray puts a lot of effort in creating the nighttime lighting. On both sides of the stage, there are two pipes with lighting instruments hanging. Gray uses orange lights for the first row and blue lights for the second row. The blue lights effectively notify the audience that the scenes take place at night, while the orange lights help to highlight the characters. It is a smart act using orange lights instead of tungsten lights since orange is the light of street light, so they can help to create a more realistic scene and make the audience think that this is a real life incident. • 12. A Madman s Diary By Lu Xun Analysis Many authors use their work to express their thoughts about the flaws in the societies in which they live. Lu Xun masks his criticisms of the once feudal society in China in his story, A Madman s Diary, by comparing the feudalistic society to cannibalism. The story begins with the narrator going to visit two brothers. Upon arrival, the narrator learns that the younger of the two brothers has recently been cured of madness, and moved away. The older sibling offers the narrator his brother s diary for the narrator to read. The metaphor between cannibalism and feudalism is meant to convey to the readers the flaws of the feudal system without Lu Xun directly criticizing the system. Even though the madman is currently terrified of the society he is living in, he shows hope for a better future. In the last diary entry, he ponders the possibility of the nature of this society changing. He questions whether or not there are children who have not consumed other people. He says that the children need to be saved from the nature of this society of consuming other people to live. This represents Lu Xun s belief that the feudalistic society can change if the ways of that society are not taught to the children and that he has hope for the future of society. ...The narrator cultivates and maintains the courage to hope that the future for the children of China will be separate from the past (Laws 51). Lu Xun conveys a sense of hope for a better future in China through the madman s hope in the story. The madman is the only one who is truly aware of the problems of the society that they live in. Everyone else around him simply seems to accept the ways of life. • 13. Dupot Pipeline Tragedy The horrible tragedy at the DuPont Chemical Plant in La Porte, Texas, which ended in four innocent people losing their lives, began roughly 5 days prior to the accident. It was November 10, 2014, when a reactor in the plants Lannate unit, an insecticide DuPont produces for many agricultural purposes, went down for an unscheduled maintenance. Lannate is produced by reacting toxic methyl mercaptan with other chemicals. Two days later on November 12th, after all the up keep was taken care of on the reactor, they tried to start it up again. They were unsuccessful in starting up the reactor, and further investigation revealed a slurry blocking any passage through the pipelines which lead to the reactor. However, slurries were a very common thing during shutdowns. They form when methyl mercaptan reacts with other stagnate chemicals in the pipeline, forming a blockage. To clear this slurry, operators began pumping hot water through the piping to try and break it up. By noon on November 13th, operators deemed they had cleared the slurry. During the hot water pumping, a valve was accidentally left opened, which allowed roughly 2,000 pounds of water to flow into the methyl mercaptan feedline and storage tank. This ... Similarities Between Genesis And Bhagavad Gita Genesis, a text in the Hebrew Bible, and The Bhagavad Gita, a dated Hindu poem, are both influential classic texts that tell the accounts of two powerful Gods, who share a similar agenda. Although they are similar deities, each has a different way to influence the world. It is apparent in the text that Krishna seems not to care about what acts one commits in the material world, but rather if one person fulfills his or her spiritual duty to him; his concept of spiritual duty is to have complete reverence and idolization of him and him only. Unlike Krishna, the God in Genesis demands trust, and blind obedience. Because God in genesis appears to be the most powerful, and all omniscient with no other being in the world to ever compare to, he expects humans to follow his orders without having the need to explain himself. despite the fact that his order may go against their will and desires. For example, when God commands Abraham to kill his own son, he doesn t provide any validation as to why he should do so. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chickens used for egg production typically live in one of many battery cages crammed into a long windowless shed. Ten or more of these hens are packed together in a cage that is about the size of a drawer in a filing cabinet. This causes frustration and fighting between the hens. To keep this from happening, farmers often cut or burn part of their beaks off without medicine to dull the pain. Hens who become sick are usually not given proper veterinary care and are left to die slowly and painfully. Some of the eggs laid by the hens are hatched by another industry to supply more chickens for egg production. Since the hatched male chicks cannot lay eggs, they are often killed by grinding or suffocation. When the hens grow old and stop producing as many eggs, many farmers will deny them proper nutrition to try and shock their bodies into laying eggs one last time. Then they are slaughtered and their bodies are used for food scraps. Most of the pigs raised in the U.S. live on large scale factory farms where they are overcrowded and treated inhumanely. At an extremely young age, piglets are stolen from their mothers and placed in crowded, windowless pens. Due to being jampacked, the piglets do not have much range of motion and are constantly laying in their own waste material. • 18. Implicit Stereotyping And Evaluation Stereotyping occurs when individuals form cognitive conceptions of out group members, associating certain characteristics with that group (Smith and Mackie, 2007; Hamilton, 1981), whereas prejudice is a positive or negative evaluation directed towards an out group (Smith and Mackie, 2007). Current research depicts them as independent constructs, comprising different behavioural responses. An interrelation is indicated by considerable indirect evidence, specifically that prejudice is an inevitable consequence of stereotyping. Research demonstrates that cognitive processes trigger implicit stereotyping and affective processes trigger implicit evaluation; inferring independence. • 28. The Major Differences Between Democratic, Authoritarian,... The major differences between democratic, authoritarian, and anarchic political systems are who holds the power, who has freedom/how much, and how much involvement the government has in the workings of its country. For authoritarian states, the power is held mainly by a single person or an elite group of people, few people have freedom, with what freedom they have being limited, and the government, or rather the leader/leaders, is involved in almost every aspect of the country from controlling the economy to making decisions for the lifestyles of its citizens like deciding how many kids they may have or what hair styles are approved. Everything is at the whim of those in charge and can change at any second. Anarchic is the exact opposite of this. In an anarchic government, everyone has power all the power they can take for themselves, nothing is unpermitted as there are no laws and since a government doesn t exist, it can t have any involvement in anything. Finally there is the democratic system which is a happy medium between these two extremes. In a democracy, everyone has some power through the right to vote directly or for elected officials who will run the country (who are limited by a constitution of some kind), everyone has freedom within the country s generally reasonable laws, and government involvement is limited to making laws and regulations within reason to protect its citizens, economy, etc. For example, you would not see a democratic nation forbidding speaking ...
