Dna Replication And Its Effect On The Development Of...
Introduction:
DNA replication is one of the fundamental processes involved with the central dogma and is
instrumental in the development of mutations, alternations and others changes that allow the process
of evolution to operate and proceed leading to the biodiversity. In the process proposed by Watson and
Crick (1953), the double helix unwinds to expose the bases in each strand of the DNA , where each of
the two separate strands act as the template or molecular mould for the synthesis of a new molecule of
DNA . As it is well known that the process of replication allows for the complementary base formation
among the template strand and the newly synthesized DNA strand .this mechanism of complementary
base pairing has resulted in the semi conservative mode of replication of the DNA molecule
(Pray,2008).
Stages of replication: The molecular mechanism of the process of replication is directed towards the
fidelity of the DNA molecule. Along with numerous interacting enzymes and other molecules working
in split second accuracy and timing to synthesize, proof read, repair and eventually produce a newly
synthesized strand of DNA with error s at the rate of one per 100 million nucleotides (Alberts et al.,
2002). The fundamental process of replication can be considered in three phases initiation, elongation
and termination.

Role Of Chivalry In Beowulf
The role of chivalry is a complicated concept for solitary heroes within Beowulf and Albrecht Dürer s
Knight, Death, and the Devil. In Beowulf, the concept of chivalry is explained through the eyes of the
hero, Beowulf, which is the idea of performing chivalrous actions in the face of death for glory;
however, Beowulf does not realize that his actions will not keep his people safe in the end. In Knight,
Death and the Devil, the idea of chivalry is the motivation of the knight on religious grounds to be
chivalrous in the face of death. The Knight gives the impression that he understood that his actions
would ultimately be meaningless, and he appears resigned to the idea. The argument can be made that
chivalry is unsustainable in both texts, given that while it inspires these heroes to pursue these tasks,
the result is that they believe that mild sacrifices, such as their own life, must be made to ensure
victory; however, these two texts differ with their heroes anticipated outcomes of their sacrifices,
which turns out to be for nothing. Despite having different outcomes of operating within a system of
chivalry, these two texts similarly critique the outcomes of chivalry as being unsustainable based on
the demands it places on heroes to sacrifice themselves. To defend this claim, I will begin by similarly
critiquing how chivalry is unsustainable within both texts. I will then express how both texts show the
unsustainability results from the demands of sacrifice. I will then

(Thomas Jefferson, an intimate history [by] Fawn M. Brodie. Published: New York, Norton [1974])
Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743, at Shadwell, the family farm in Goochland (now
Albemarle) County, Virginia. (The date was April 2 by the calendar then in use.) He was the third
child in the family and grew up with six sisters and one brother. Two other brothers died in infancy.
His father, Peter Jefferson, had served as surveyor, sheriff, colonel of militia, and member of the
House of Burgesses. Thomas s mother, Jane Randolph Jefferson, came from one of the oldest families
in Virginia. Thomas developed the normal interests of a country boy #8212;hunting, fishing,
horseback riding, and canoeing. He also learned to play the violin and to love music. Jefferson was 14
years old when his father died. As the oldest son, he became head of the family. He inherited more
than 2,500 acres (1,010 hectares) of land and at least 20 slaves. His guardian, John Harvie, managed
the estate until Jefferson was 21. Thomas began his studies under a tutor. At age 9, he went to live
with a Scottish clergyman, who taught him Latin, Greek, and French. After his father died, Thomas
entered the school of James Maury, an Anglican clergyman, near Charlottesville. (Thomas Jefferson :

Violence In Venezuela Essay
About a million protesters flooded the streets of Venezuelan capital Caracas to demand constitutional
right to recall referendum.
The peaceful protesters waved flags and wore white while marching. Police was deployed in the city
to maintain law and order during the protest.
There is no food. There is no paper. There is no medicine. We are dying, a protester Maria Alvarez
told CNN. Please, help Venezuela. This has to end. Maduro, you have to understand that your time is
up.
The protesters resorted to violence by vandalizing and burning cars, throwing Molotov cocktails, and
blocking roads in some parts of the city.
President Nicolas Maduro urged the Venezuelan people to fight for peace in Caracas, and to raise their
voice against the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a conscious people and will be mobilized forever, Maduro said at the rally.
A few protesters wore masks and threw rocks at the police. The police then used tear gas to bring them
under control and detained some of the rioters.
Maduro said that those who incite violence in the city will be prosecuted as per the law.
In view of the recent events, he said that he will withdraw immunity protections from politicians, so
that the suspected coup plotters in parliament could be prosecuted by courts.
Maduro told the rally of supporters, who also took to the streets, that the opposition wants to carry out
a coup to overthrow his government in a similar coup attempt as in 2002 which sought to oust his late
predecessor Hugo Chavez.
We are here at the call of our President, to defend the revolution, Carolina Aponte, a 37 year old
housewife at the pro government rally, was quoted as saying by AFP.
The referendum had moved a step closer in July when National Electoral Council (CNE) verified 1
percent of the signatures on recall petition required in the process. Some 20 percent of the signatures
of registered voters (3.9 million signatures) are needed to for the recall voting to be confirmed.
The MUD (Mesa de la Unidad/Democratic Unity Roundtable), which holds power in Venezuelan
parliament asked the CNE to make available 14,500 centers and 40,000 computers for people to sign

Another critic also said that although Leonardo worked on the Mona Lisa over a number of years in a
number of different cities, none of his business or household records contain any mention of a model
who might have sat for the portrait.
In an article in the January issue of Arts and Antiques, Schwartz describes how her conclusions tie
together a number of seemingly unrelated anomalies in the painting, its shadowy quality, the unusual
dress, the lack of jewelry, the awkward pose and the split pair of unrelated landscapes on either side of
the figure.
She points out that Leonardo s delight in riddles caused him to plant clues in all his paintings and that
the Mona Lisa was no exception.
When these clues are taken together with da Vinci s known homosexuality and life style, a picture
emerges of the great painter creating a disguised self portrait in women s clothes.
As Schwartz puts it, That famous smile, so tantalizing for so many centuries is the mirrored smile of
da Vinci himself.
Another says he haven t seen the big deal of the painting. He quoted It s just a portrait of a not
particularly interesting woman against a dark and mountainous backdrop. Undoubtedly highly
proficient technically, it is, to my eye, an unemotional and unmoving piece of art.

[ SQL Injection Attacks, Prevention Techniques, and Why It Matters]
SQL injection attacks pose a serious security threat and it has become a predominant type of attacks
that target web applications utilizing the backend databases. It allows attackers to obtain unauthorized
access to the database and retrieve potentially sensitive information. These attacks are launched
through specially crafted input to trick the database into executing any SQL queries. In this paper I
will present a review of different types of SQL injection and how they could be performed. I will also
analyze some of prevention techniques available to mitigate the SQL injection attacks. Finally, I will
discuss why it is very important and needs considerable attention.

SQL is common language used to manipulate data in database. It is the backbone of almost all of the
web applications. When we enter any information such as login details or do online shopping it creates
a SQL query and executed at the backend database. The login query when executed validates the

Fast Times At Ridgemont High Feminist Analysis
The wave of feminism has remained an undisclosed matter to America s patriarch society, but over the
years it has gradually emerged and is being exploited in mainstream Hollywood films. Two films that
validate the feminist movement in an effective approach are Fast Times at Ridgemont High and John
Tucker Must Die. Both films elaborate on the feminist methodology revealed in a high school setting
surrounded by macho teenage boys and sexually frustrated adolescent girls. The two films are directed
by two eminent female directors. Fast Times at Ridgemont High, which is directed by Amy
Heckerling, is a 1982 Hollywood film that gives insight on feminist discourse, but not subjecting or

The two films are successful at adapting to Wood s 5 pronged formula, which focuses on sex, the
suppression of parents, the variation of character identification, the method of the hunter/hunted, and
the repression of homosexuality. Although the two films take place in a school atmosphere, there is no
evidence of students learning. The assumption is being made that the characters are only intrigued
with sex. In Fast Times, Stacy s parents are mentioned throughout the movie, but remain unrevealed.
Her mother, who tucks her into bed, only makes one appearance on screen. In John Tucker Must Die,
Kate s mom, Lori is barely displayed on the screen. She is only shown leaving to go out on casual
dates with different men. In both films, the directors utilizes the variation of character identification by
using classical high school stereotypes and gender roles, such as the popular guy, and the girl next
door. In Fast Times, Heckerling practices the method of the hunter/ hunted, which also signifies the
looker and the participant who is being observed. During the scene with Stacy and Mike, they are both
shown equally observing each other as they both take off their clothes. Another example of the
hunter/hunted method is when Brad is being observed by two women at a red light. In John Tucker
Must Die, the girls who throw themselves at John are perceived to be the

The Inaugural Address of John Kennedy
John Kennedy was one of the most skillful orators among all the presidents of United States of
America. His speeches were always persuasive, motivating and inspiring. One of his best speeches is
Inaugural Address , which he addressed to Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice,
President Eisenhower, Vice president Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, and, of course, his
fellow citizens. His speech was divided into four major parts, and all the parts were highly inspiring,
especially for the ordinary citizens of America. At the beginning of the speech he talks about the
founders of USA, and the great respect to them. After that Kennedy tells about the progress of the
nation in comparison to the past, after that he ends with couple of pledges. In the third part he tells
about the main strategy, the United States should follow, while taking all the possible options into
account. Kennedy ends the whole speech expressing his confidence in the people of America.
In his Inaugural Address president talks about the things, which are quite understandable for the
people of U.S. Thus, his target audiences are his fellow citizens . In this speech Kennedy s main
purpose is probably to inform the ordinary citizens of U. S. that they should trust him. He talks about
the values, which are highly rated by all the Americans. In such a way he shows that he also cares
about the same values, thus, persuades people to be open to his words. Psychologically it is highly

Idiopathic Epilepsy Research Paper
Epilepsy is a disorder where nerve cell activity in the brain becomes disturbed. This activity causes
sporadic electrical storms in the brain called seizures. During seizures, people experience unusual
behavior and symptoms. There are two major types of epilepsy, idiopathic/cryptogenic, symptomatic.
Both of these have different causes and affect the body and mind in particular ways.
Idiopathic epilepsy is commonly associated with cryptogenic because they are very similar. However,
there are some main differences between the two. Idiopathic epilepsy means that there is no cause for
the abnormal activity occurring in the brain. Cryptogenic epilepsy is when there is a likely cause, but

A CBC helps the doctor identify infections, allergies, and other abnormalities to choose the right
anticonvulsant medication. CBC s measure the number of red blood cells, the number of white blood
cells, platelets(help the blood clot in case of an injury or bleeding), hemoglobin(the substance in red
blood cells that carry oxygen), hematocrit(the percentage of blood made up of red blood cells), and
mean corpuscular volume(the size of the red blood cells).
In some cases, epilepsy can be prevented. However, most of the time, this isn t the case. Usually,
epilepsy is genetic. Another common cause is traumatic head injury from an accident. Preventing falls
can lower your risk of getting epilepsy. In most cases, though, it is hereditary. Normally, epilepsy
occurs in someone who has a family history of seizures.
Right now, there is no cure for epilepsy. There are, however, treatments that people find helpful.
Traditional treatments include prescription medications like Lyrica or Zarontin for symptom control.
Most of these prescriptions are to control seizures and depending on what type of seizure a person has,
they may take different medications to regulate symptoms. Another traditional treatment is surgery.
The most common one is corpus callosotomy. This is when a person with extreme seizures has split
brain surgery so that seizures don t spread from one hemisphere of the brain to

Plano Food Pantry Personal Statement
Because I have a very strong interest in nutrition and both internal and rehabilitative medicine, I
would like to dedicate myself to serve the medical needs of those less fortunate. I believe that this is
the best way for me to contribute to society from the experiences I have had. I believe there is nothing
that I would find more meaningful than studying and practicing medicine. Being part of Balavikas,

Balavikas, I volunteered at the Austin Street Shelter and at the Plano Food Pantry, where I was able to
interact with socially and economically disadvantaged people who have dealt first hand with these

The acceptance of “abnormal” sexualities Essay
The acceptance of abnormal sexualities has been a prolonged, controversial battle. The segregation is
excruciating and the prejudice remarks are so spiteful that some people never truly recover.
Homosexuals have been left suffering for ages. Life, for most homosexuals during the first half of the
twentieth century, was mostly one of hiding: having to constantly hide their true feelings and tastes.
Instead of restaurants and movies, they had to sit quiet in the dark and meet each other in concealed
places such as bars. Homosexuals were those with mental and psychic abnormalities and were the
victim of medical prejudice, police harassment, and church condemnation (Jagose 24). The minuscule

The Mattachine Society was with time viewed as traditional, conservative, and reluctant to literally
fight for the rights of their people. Many were appalled that the society dissociated themselves from
those who received notions of gender propriety, such as drag queens. They also still thought of
homosexuals as abnormal, but they felt they deserved pity rather then persecution (Jagose 27). While
denying any social dimension to the group, the Mattachine Society attempted to transform public
attitudes towards homosexuals through circulating information in magazines, newsletters, and
broadsheets (Jagose 27). This group was generally considered politically cautious, more so after
comparing them with LGBT movements that both preceded and followed them. Though the
Mattachine society and their conservative ways seemed to have limited achievements, in reality their
political strategies paved the way for recent groups. While homosexual politics were thought to be
outrageous and full of public hostility, the societies homophile politics were thought to be more
dignified, honorable, and respectable. They petitioned governments, published and distributed
political newsletters and pamphlets, and were the first to conduct large scale statistical inquiries into
homosexual behavior (Jagose 29). Many believe now that the Mattachine Society, along with other
small organizations, led the way to the gay rights movement.

Fear In The Things They Carried
Throughout the mid 1960s to the 70s, the United States was at war with Vietnam. War is a conflict
between other nations or different groups inside a country. War can affect families tremendously by
letting go of a son and mother or father s relationship. It takes courage and bravery to help defend
your nation and to sacrifice your own life for others. I haven t been in a war but if I had to I wouldn t.
If entering a war you could lose everything you had before entering a war. After the war you will have
nothing left, you will lose your friends, family members, and no one will talk to you about the
struggles in the war because they do not have any experience with it. As a result of violence in wars

from compositional processes that were very similar to the processes we explored in class. All of the

The European Crisis And The Transformative Role Of The Emu
How the EU responded to euro crisis and the transformative role of the EMU? That the incomplete
preparatory works in the initial period of the EU monetary establishment partly resulting in the euro
crisis, had revealed how unrigorous and incompatible mechanisms the EU institutions proposed and
conducted. There is no mechanism set up for addressing the debt crisis problem tracked back to the
time point when the euro was established, and thus resulted in the hastily drawn and agreed
emergency rescue plans, which were viewed unfavourable to the majority of EU countries as they
seemed merely synonymous with those bailouts. Based on this ambiguous and unstable solutions the
EU had provided, the worldwide disappointing impression had been created on the split opinions of

Deforestation In Japanese Essay
Japan as a whole is a disaster prone country, mostly due to its position on the Pacific Rim fault line,
but also because of climatic and seismic factors. However, for the purpose of this assignment I will be
focusing specifically on the region of Tokyo Yokohama. Yokohama is a city of 3.7 million located on
the western coast of Tokyo Bay, roughly 17 miles south of Tokyo. Yokohama is the second largest city
in Japan, beaten out only by Tokyo. The combined population of Tokyo and Yokohama Metropolitan
Area is 16,889,000 so roughly 17,000,000 people are living in 1,013 square miles, making for
extremely densely populated conditions. (These households and population data are based on the
results of the Population Census 2010.) Yokohama s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tokyo is on the ocean side of the island, making the city incredibly susceptible. Typhoons can cause
flooding and landslides, which can be extremely dangerous to people and cause destruction such as
collapsed buildings and fallen trees. The volcanoes belong to the Pacific Ring of Fire, caused by
subduction zones of the Pacific plate beneath continental and other oceanic plates along its margins.
Japan lies in a zone of extreme crustal instability. Mount Fuji poses the biggest threat the Tokyo.
Located only 60 miles from Tokyo, this stratovolcano is very much active and could cause mass
hysteria for many people when it next erupts. A volcanic eruption can pour ash and lava all over the
city. Over the years, Japan has taken lots of steps to lighten the damage future earthquakes could
inflict. Scientists are studying ways to predict the occurrence of quakes more accurately. Authorities
have put strict laws on the construction buildings so they are more resistant to quakes. Many local
governments have adopted an earthquake prevention plan that outlines the steps that should be taken
in case a major earthquake strikes, including the regulation of traffic, closing of banks and department
stores, and evacuation of residents. The Tokyo metropolitan government conducts periodic checks on
the safety of buildings in designated danger zones. At schools and workplaces, evacuation drills are
held several times a year.

Dell s Buyout
Dell s Buyout
Dell has always been one of the largest PC makers in the United States. Recently, though its share of
the PC industry has been declining. It went from the number one low cost provider of PCs in the
world to number 3. Its inability to adapt to the new markets that have emerged has caused the
company to fall behind other hi tech companies such as IBM, Apple, and even HP. I feel this is an
important topic because it is an example of a large company that has lost touch with what consumers
want and is currently trying to restructure itself in order to gain back the dominance they once had.
Consequently, Michael Dell has announced his decision to attempt a leverage buyout in order to retain
control of his company. Furthermore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

view point of the New York Times which doesn t necessarily take a side with the shareholders or
Michael Dell, but rather analyzes the effect this move might have on the hi tech market and the
probability of Dell Inc. seeing growth in the long run and continuing to compete with larger hi tech
companies. According to the BBC article, analysts are stressing the fact that a leveraged buyout will
give Mr. Dell the flexibility in turning the company around, by no longer needing to show strong
results every quarter to shareholders on the stock market. Moreover BBC points out that the company

Narcissism In Patrick Bateman s American Psycho
American Psycho Patrick Bateman is a 26 year old investment banker, living in the 80 s New York.
On the surface he s rich, attractive and charming. But behind his successful façade rests a soulless
serial killer. When he s not committing murders or having sex, he s worrying about how the world
perceives him. But is Patrick really a killer? He admits to his crimes to his friends, but everyone thinks
he s joking or ignore him completely, and to Patrick s dismay the bodies seem to be disappearing
without a trace. Bateman believes that he is a psychopath, and describes himself as one, but I don t
think that s true. His distorted sense of self, mood swings, feelings of emptiness and hallucinations
matches both Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Narcissism is one
of Patrick s defining traits, if someone s better than him, or has something of higher value, he turns
into a lunatic. One example of this is when Patrick gets jealous of his co worker s business card, and

A lie is defined as a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a

Pamela Meyer, these questions were able to be answered.
The two points and statements that I found the most interesting that Meyer made during her Ted Talk

Billy Budd Essay
This story depicts how a certain innocent person was condemned and was sentenced to death for a
crime he did but with an innocent motive.
The story goes on around a certain person s life in a ship where he was said to be one of the crew.
Billy as a character depicted in the story is a person whose innocence can not be changed into hatred
for other people.
Though his surrounding is full of people with evil motives, he is still into trusting them with full
innocence.
Evilness beyond comprehension
Such evilness is beyond the main character s understanding, and his being weak causes him to lose his
sense of defending himself.
With this state of the character s condition, some people around him tend to abuse his weakness, such

The distinction between the divine characters of Christ with that of Billy is that, Billy will not
intentionally give up his life or sacrifice himself for other people?s good. On the contrary, Christ
accepted being condemned to death for people in the world?s salvation. Another way in which the
story of Billy could depict the story of Christ is the story when Pontius Pilate tends to wash his hand
to show that he is not responsible for Christ condemnation.
On the other hand in Billy?s story, Captain Vere pushed through the military view of law and
condemned Billy because he was thinking about what his mates would think of him if he will not
punish Billy with what they think would suit the latter for his crime. Both of the character who?s
Pontius and Vere, are playing innocent for an unjust case.
Between innocence and evil, the author depicted Claggart as the evil one, and goodness was depicted
by Billy.
The character of Billy in the story is paralleled to many of the bibles characters and some of those are
Adam which is said to be the first man who is born innocent in the world and was also presented as
having the same figure of Christ.
On the contrary, Claggart was depicted as characterized by evil where he was paralleled to Satan?s
characteristics and figures that motivated and/or influenced Billy to do evil. Billy died simply because

The Abolition Of Slavery And The Civil War
Throughout American history there have been numerous civil rights movements and shifts of thoughts
and beliefs. One of the largest and arguably the most impactful movement was the movement to end
slavery. America has always been divided on the issue, and even to this day there are harsh sentiments
between different ethnicities. America made an official decision on the matter following a brutal and
violent civil war. The Thirteenth Amendment was passed on January 31st, 1865 and read: Neither
slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been
duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. This
amendment followed Abraham Lincoln s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Senate actually passed the amendment in 1864, yet the House of Representatives did not. Through
Abraham Lincoln s efforts with the Republican party, the House eventually decided to pass the
amendment with a vote of 119 to 56 in January, 1865. This established the Thirteenth Amendment as
part of the U.S. Constitution, only needing ratification by three fourths of the states. It was officially
adopted on December 6, 1865 and was a Constitutional amendment. Of the remaining states, all but
three had ratified it by 1870. Delaware ratified it in 1901, while Kentucky and Mississippi did not
ratify it until the second half of the 20th century. Kentucky ratified the Thirteenth Amendment in 1976
and Mississippi did not ratify it until 1995 (History Net, n.d.). The inclusion of the Thirteenth
Amendment in the U.S. Constitution meant that this particular issue was widespread and was also very
controversial. It put an end to one of the bloodiest American conflicts and also established boundaries
that America was to be a free country where everyone is meant to be equal. The abolition of slavery
was necessary to patch a divided country and to free those who had been forced to spend their lives
working for the gain of others, simply because of their skin color. Its inclusion in the

The Importance Of Security Best Practices
Security Best Practices
No computer with a connection to the internet is 100 percent safe (Helmke, 2015). System
Administrators have a responsibility to protect individuals and corporations from breaches and loss. A
breach can have massive economic implications and, even worse, long lasting damage to your
reputation. Linux is just as vulnerable as other operating systems and it appears the majority of best
practice methodologies apply across all operating systems.
Security Audits
The first step is to perform a security audit and determine where vulnerabilities may exist. Physical
Placement The system is extremely vulnerable if not installed in a climate controlled secure room.
Only authorized personnel should have access to the room ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Software versions Additionally, it is good to hide the machine ID and software versions. This is simply
free information making it easier for the attacker.
Wireless Helmke (2015) also recommends using wired and avoiding wireless if possible.
NMAP Another vulnerability is open ports. Tools such as NMAP scan and determine if any ports are
open. Unexpected open ports are clues that a potential breach has occurred and that a cracker has
opened unauthorized ports.
Intrusion Detection Systems IDS should be installed that contain the capabilities to monitor the
network and send alerts if odd or different behavior is observed.
Protect your system
Update Linux kernel and Software Regular updates are critical to insure the system has the most stable
and reliable load.
Viruses Linux has an advantage over Windows. Helmke (2015) explains,
Linux never puts the current directory in your executable path, so typing ls runs /bin/ls rather than any
program named ls in the current directory.
A nonroot user can infect only the files that user has write access to, which is usually only the files in
the user s home directory. This is one of the most important reasons for never using sudo when you
don t need to.
Linux forces you to manually mark files as executable, so you can t accidentally run a file called
myfile.txt.exe thinking it is just a text file.
By having more than one common web browser and email client, Linux has strength through

Essay On Waverly Play
Strategic Gameplay
Waverly plays many games throughout this story. She is very smart, easily deceiving many of her
opponents. Some of her games can be played on a tangible game board. Others cannot be seen, but
played through subtle suggestion. Waverly plays is the board game chess, where she must think ahead
and plan out every possible move to win. She must put herself in her opponent s shoes and try to
predict their strategy. I discovered that for the whole game one must gather invisible strengths and see
the endgame before the game begins. (Tan 8) By understanding Waverly s thought process throughout
a game, we are able to learn more about her as a person. She is aware of how different she is
compared to the other players, and uses it to her advantage. ...I would clasp my hands under my chin,
the delicate points of my elbows poised lightly on the table in the manner my mother had shown me

How Ecology Is Being Affected by Climate Change
In the world today their has been a surge of scientific, political and economical forces hurdling to
prove and disprove the existence of global climate change. I assert that the symptoms that our planet is
suffering are the truest indications to justify worrying about our collective future on this land; which I
will present in terms of how the ecology is being effected by global climate change. In an article
reporting the findings of a study conducted in Israel by Tarryn Schuldiner Harpaz and Moshe Coll
entitled Effects of Global Warming on Predatory Bugs Supported by Data Across Geographic and
Seasonal Climatic Gradients the authors state, [The] average global surface temperature... has risen by
approximately 0.75 [degrees Celsius] during the past 100 years (1906 2005)... average temperatures
rose by approximately 0.13 [degrees Celsius] per decade... And indicated that the majority of the
change had occurred between 1956 through 2005 (Schuldiner Harpaz and Coll). The study measured
the effects of climate change on various species of insects in the area of and surrounding Israel. After
collecting records of the climate gradients, annual temperature records, insect species samples of the
region and comparing it to samples of current species morphology (the study of an organisms structure
and form) how continuous change in climate effects said insects, and multiple region s annual
temperatures records, they found that while some species were able to adapt to the

Use of Technology in Election Campaigns
Role of Internet in 2008
Social media
Social media played a vital role in 2008 U.S. President Elections. Using of Social networking websites
like Facebook, Twitter, You tube was adapted by the political parties and influenced them to use social
media in order to reach people effectively in U.S.
Presidential Elections in 2008 has changed the way of campaigning and expressing effectively. Digital
technology allowed leaders to interact with voters, transforming the campaigning totally into a new
level. Both the lead contenders Barack Obama and John McCain engaged with people by using Social
media. But there were many apparent discrepancies between Obama s use and his opposition use of
social media as their medium to communicate with people.
Obama s use of Social media in 2008 election campaign can be compared to former President John F.
Kennedy s use of television. Besides using email and website, Obama focused on Social Media to
activate the young voters. His extensive use of Social Media appeared to be the major factor in his
victory over John McCain in 2008. Obama had 2 million Facebook friends while McCain had only
600,000. Obama spent millions on advertising in Facebook and Google to grab attention of voters
whereas, McCain used television advertisements. Obama focused on Social media sites to pass on the
information to the millions of volunteers and to get the donations, the campaign used Social
networking sites to connect with voters and supporters. Obama

Painting At The Oklahoma City Museum Of Art
On September 4, 2016, I visited the Matisse in His Time exhibit at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.
This exhibit is home to a plethora of pieces by many different European artists from the 19th and 20th
centuries. While it is focused on Matisse and his extensive works, containing more than 50 of his
pieces, there are many portraits and sculptures by other influential artists from that time period
including Renoir, Picasso, and Georges Braque. Three of the most appealing works that I encountered
in this exhibit are Maurice de Vlaminck s Portrait of Père Bouju, Pablo Picasso s Reclining Woman on
a Blue Divan, and Henri Matisse s sculpture series Henriette I, Henriette II, and Henriette III.
One of the most visually intriguing pieces in the exhibit is the Portrait of Père Bouju by Maurice de
Vlaminck. It was painted around the year 1900 by the French artist. It is not particularly beautiful by
normal standards. At first glance, the texture of the paint stands out more than any other feature. It has
very strongly defined brush strokes and thick paint in portions, especially the face of the man and the
background. The lines in the paint are mostly straight, short, and wide with some that are thinner and
wavy, like the smoke. The man is in the center of the canvas, he is the only discernable image, and he
is almost devoid of detail aside from the face and the hat. The colors are almost entirely neutral aside
from the red scarf. In this oil on canvas portrait the man is wearing a

Mistakes In Medical Field Essay
Jerald A. Eckman Making mistakes is what it means to be human. It is the way in which we deal with

in my life as opportunities to grow as a man and a young physician an individual with the ability and
desire to help others in need, especially during times in their life when they may feel as though many
of their decisions have been mistakes. When my medical education began, I immediately knew this

that I could either let the mistakes I have made defeat me, or I could use them to my advantage. I often

Monuments And Masculinity In Roland Emmerich s...
Monuments and Masculinity
Roland Emmerich s Independence Day (1996) mirrors the ideology of a sci fi film outlined by Susan
Sontag in the Imagination of Disaster so closely that it borders on a lack of creativity. That is what
qualifies this film as a revival of the sci fi genre following revisionist works like Steven Spielberg s
E.T. the Extra Terrestrial (1982). This film, among other things, believes that femininity in leadership
will lead to disaster on the political stage and that personal relationships should mirror the ideals of
this government balance. This scene uses framing and set design re erect themes of the traditional sci
fi ideology such as the military embodiment of masculinity and the weak femininity of a scientist .
This scene also sets the stage for what Sontag calls the balance of a good war and the yearning for
peace which unfolds throughout the film. The ideology of Independence Day is despairingly
unoriginal, touching on almost all themes outlined by Sontag as what makes the science fiction genre.
Queuing up stage Sontag s third stage of the science fiction film, In the capital of the country,
conferences between scientists and the military take place... ; of course, the difference being these
shots are in Area 51. Intertitles clearly define for the viewer where the jet is heading, doing so it is
reinforcing the authority they have to travel there. This is an ironic move considering the random
assortment of civilians they have on board, and the lack of authority they had not even an hour prior.
The set design and misé en scene are so blatantly full of military machismo as the president is seen
peaking his character metamorphosis between an effeminate man and the strong leader. Slowly, a
beyond oversized commercial airliner prop pulls into the base s set absolutely truncating the figures in
every frame. The minimalist décor on the base exterior of the base contrasts with the extravagance of
the ridiculous jet. The implications of the size of the machine and the machismo of its passengers, or
the size of their genitals, is overbearing. It s one of the many phallic displays of power and
masculinity that can be seen throughout the film, but this one obviously aids as a visual

The further off the rails Cassie goes, the more extreme the sexual situations, at one point courting a
female and then a few minutes after the female leaves a male arrives. Sexuality strongly influences
people s identity. (Op. cit. p.22) And at this point in the series we find that Cassie has a very mixed up
idea about who she is and what she wants.
This can also be seen in Season 1 when Maxxies best friend Anwar refuses to tell his parents about
Maxxies sexuality due to their religious beliefs. We see that Maxxie is torn between who he is and
whom Anwar wants him to be and this puts the friendship under great strain resulting in Maxxie

  • 2. Dna Replication And Its Effect On The Development Of... Introduction: DNA replication is one of the fundamental processes involved with the central dogma and is instrumental in the development of mutations, alternations and others changes that allow the process of evolution to operate and proceed leading to the biodiversity. In the process proposed by Watson and Crick (1953), the double helix unwinds to expose the bases in each strand of the DNA , where each of the two separate strands act as the template or molecular mould for the synthesis of a new molecule of DNA . As it is well known that the process of replication allows for the complementary base formation among the template strand and the newly synthesized DNA strand .this mechanism of complementary base pairing has resulted in the semi conservative mode of replication of the DNA molecule (Pray,2008). Stages of replication: The molecular mechanism of the process of replication is directed towards the fidelity of the DNA molecule. Along with numerous interacting enzymes and other molecules working in split second accuracy and timing to synthesize, proof read, repair and eventually produce a newly synthesized strand of DNA with error s at the rate of one per 100 million nucleotides (Alberts et al., 2002). The fundamental process of replication can be considered in three phases initiation, elongation and termination. Fundamental requirements for DNA replication For the smooth and successful integration of the different molecule r events leading to the proper mechanism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Role Of Chivalry In Beowulf The role of chivalry is a complicated concept for solitary heroes within Beowulf and Albrecht Dürer s Knight, Death, and the Devil. In Beowulf, the concept of chivalry is explained through the eyes of the hero, Beowulf, which is the idea of performing chivalrous actions in the face of death for glory; however, Beowulf does not realize that his actions will not keep his people safe in the end. In Knight, Death and the Devil, the idea of chivalry is the motivation of the knight on religious grounds to be chivalrous in the face of death. The Knight gives the impression that he understood that his actions would ultimately be meaningless, and he appears resigned to the idea. The argument can be made that chivalry is unsustainable in both texts, given that while it inspires these heroes to pursue these tasks, the result is that they believe that mild sacrifices, such as their own life, must be made to ensure victory; however, these two texts differ with their heroes anticipated outcomes of their sacrifices, which turns out to be for nothing. Despite having different outcomes of operating within a system of chivalry, these two texts similarly critique the outcomes of chivalry as being unsustainable based on the demands it places on heroes to sacrifice themselves. To defend this claim, I will begin by similarly critiquing how chivalry is unsustainable within both texts. I will then express how both texts show the unsustainability results from the demands of sacrifice. I will then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(The date was April 2 by the calendar then in use.) He was the third child in the family and grew up with six sisters and one brother. Two other brothers died in infancy. His father, Peter Jefferson, had served as surveyor, sheriff, colonel of militia, and member of the House of Burgesses. Thomas s mother, Jane Randolph Jefferson, came from one of the oldest families in Virginia. Thomas developed the normal interests of a country boy #8212;hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and canoeing. He also learned to play the violin and to love music. Jefferson was 14 years old when his father died. As the oldest son, he became head of the family. He inherited more than 2,500 acres (1,010 hectares) of land and at least 20 slaves. His guardian, John Harvie, managed the estate until Jefferson was 21. Thomas began his studies under a tutor. At age 9, he went to live with a Scottish clergyman, who taught him Latin, Greek, and French. There is no medicine. We are dying, a protester Maria Alvarez told CNN. Please, help Venezuela. This has to end. Maduro, you have to understand that your time is up. The police then used tear gas to bring them under control and detained some of the rioters. Maduro said that those who incite violence in the city will be prosecuted as per the law. In view of the recent events, he said that he will withdraw immunity protections from politicians, so that the suspected coup plotters in parliament could be prosecuted by courts. Maduro told the rally of supporters, who also took to the streets, that the opposition wants to carry out a coup to overthrow his government in a similar coup attempt as in 2002 which sought to oust his late predecessor Hugo Chavez. We are here at the call of our President, to defend the revolution, Carolina Aponte, a 37 year old housewife at the pro government rally, was quoted as saying by AFP. The referendum had moved a step closer in July when National Electoral Council (CNE) verified 1 percent of the signatures on recall petition required in the process. Some 20 percent of the signatures of registered voters (3.9 million signatures) are needed to for the recall voting to be confirmed. Another critic also said that although Leonardo worked on the Mona Lisa over a number of years in a number of different cities, none of his business or household records contain any mention of a model who might have sat for the portrait. In an article in the January issue of Arts and Antiques, Schwartz describes how her conclusions tie together a number of seemingly unrelated anomalies in the painting, its shadowy quality, the unusual dress, the lack of jewelry, the awkward pose and the split pair of unrelated landscapes on either side of the figure. She points out that Leonardo s delight in riddles caused him to plant clues in all his paintings and that the Mona Lisa was no exception. When these clues are taken together with da Vinci s known homosexuality and life style, a picture emerges of the great painter creating a disguised self portrait in women s clothes. As Schwartz puts it, That famous smile, so tantalizing for so many centuries is the mirrored smile of da Vinci himself. Another says he haven t seen the big deal of the painting. He quoted It s just a portrait of a not particularly interesting woman against a dark and mountainous backdrop. Case of Context_______________________ Mabuhay Company Incorporated owns 50 grocery outlets scattered around the metro but has only one main warehouse where all the goods are stored prior to delivery. The current inventory policy of the company had been practiced for the past 15 years. Fast Times At Ridgemont High Feminist Analysis The wave of feminism has remained an undisclosed matter to America s patriarch society, but over the years it has gradually emerged and is being exploited in mainstream Hollywood films. Two films that validate the feminist movement in an effective approach are Fast Times at Ridgemont High and John Tucker Must Die. Both films elaborate on the feminist methodology revealed in a high school setting surrounded by macho teenage boys and sexually frustrated adolescent girls. The two films are directed by two eminent female directors. The two films are successful at adapting to Wood s 5 pronged formula, which focuses on sex, the suppression of parents, the variation of character identification, the method of the hunter/hunted, and the repression of homosexuality. Although the two films take place in a school atmosphere, there is no evidence of students learning. The assumption is being made that the characters are only intrigued with sex. In Fast Times, Stacy s parents are mentioned throughout the movie, but remain unrevealed. Her mother, who tucks her into bed, only makes one appearance on screen. In John Tucker Must Die, Kate s mom, Lori is barely displayed on the screen. She is only shown leaving to go out on casual dates with different men. In both films, the directors utilizes the variation of character identification by using classical high school stereotypes and gender roles, such as the popular guy, and the girl next door. In Fast Times, Heckerling practices the method of the hunter/ hunted, which also signifies the looker and the participant who is being observed. During the scene with Stacy and Mike, they are both shown equally observing each other as they both take off their clothes. His speeches were always persuasive, motivating and inspiring. One of his best speeches is Inaugural Address , which he addressed to Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice president Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, and, of course, his fellow citizens. His speech was divided into four major parts, and all the parts were highly inspiring, especially for the ordinary citizens of America. At the beginning of the speech he talks about the founders of USA, and the great respect to them. After that Kennedy tells about the progress of the nation in comparison to the past, after that he ends with couple of pledges. In the third part he tells about the main strategy, the United States should follow, while taking all the possible options into account. Kennedy ends the whole speech expressing his confidence in the people of America. In his Inaugural Address president talks about the things, which are quite understandable for the people of U.S. Thus, his target audiences are his fellow citizens . Some of her games can be played on a tangible game board. Others cannot be seen, but played through subtle suggestion. Waverly plays is the board game chess, where she must think ahead and plan out every possible move to win. She must put herself in her opponent s shoes and try to predict their strategy. I discovered that for the whole game one must gather invisible strengths and see the endgame before the game begins. (Tan 8) By understanding Waverly s thought process throughout a game, we are able to learn more about her as a person. She is aware of how different she is compared to the other players, and uses it to her advantage. ...I would clasp my hands under my chin, the delicate points of my elbows poised lightly on the table in the manner my mother had shown me for posing for the press. I would swing my patent leather shoes back and forth like an impatient child riding on a school bus. Then I would pause, suck in my lips, twirl my chosen piece in midair as if undecided, and then firmly plant it in its new threatening place with a triumphant smile thrown back at my opponent for good measure. • 31. How Ecology Is Being Affected by Climate Change In the world today their has been a surge of scientific, political and economical forces hurdling to prove and disprove the existence of global climate change. I assert that the symptoms that our planet is suffering are the truest indications to justify worrying about our collective future on this land; which I will present in terms of how the ecology is being effected by global climate change. In an article reporting the findings of a study conducted in Israel by Tarryn Schuldiner Harpaz and Moshe Coll entitled Effects of Global Warming on Predatory Bugs Supported by Data Across Geographic and Seasonal Climatic Gradients the authors state, [The] average global surface temperature... has risen by approximately 0.75 [degrees Celsius] during the past 100 years (1906 2005)... average temperatures rose by approximately 0.13 [degrees Celsius] per decade... And indicated that the majority of the change had occurred between 1956 through 2005 (Schuldiner Harpaz and Coll). The study measured the effects of climate change on various species of insects in the area of and surrounding Israel. After collecting records of the climate gradients, annual temperature records, insect species samples of the region and comparing it to samples of current species morphology (the study of an organisms structure and form) how continuous change in climate effects said insects, and multiple region s annual temperatures records, they found that while some species were able to adapt to the ... • 32. Use of Technology in Election Campaigns Role of Internet in 2008 Social media Social media played a vital role in 2008 U.S. President Elections. Using of Social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter, You tube was adapted by the political parties and influenced them to use social media in order to reach people effectively in U.S. Presidential Elections in 2008 has changed the way of campaigning and expressing effectively. Digital technology allowed leaders to interact with voters, transforming the campaigning totally into a new level. Both the lead contenders Barack Obama and John McCain engaged with people by using Social media. But there were many apparent discrepancies between Obama s use and his opposition use of social media as their medium to communicate with people. Obama s use of Social media in 2008 election campaign can be compared to former President John F. Kennedy s use of television. Besides using email and website, Obama focused on Social Media to activate the young voters. His extensive use of Social Media appeared to be the major factor in his victory over John McCain in 2008. Obama had 2 million Facebook friends while McCain had only 600,000. Obama spent millions on advertising in Facebook and Google to grab attention of voters whereas, McCain used television advertisements. Obama focused on Social media sites to pass on the information to the millions of volunteers and to get the donations, the campaign used Social networking sites to connect with voters and supporters. • 33. Painting At The Oklahoma City Museum Of Art On September 4, 2016, I visited the Matisse in His Time exhibit at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. This exhibit is home to a plethora of pieces by many different European artists from the 19th and 20th centuries. While it is focused on Matisse and his extensive works, containing more than 50 of his pieces, there are many portraits and sculptures by other influential artists from that time period including Renoir, Picasso, and Georges Braque. Three of the most appealing works that I encountered in this exhibit are Maurice de Vlaminck s Portrait of Père Bouju, Pablo Picasso s Reclining Woman on a Blue Divan, and Henri Matisse s sculpture series Henriette I, Henriette II, and Henriette III. One of the most visually intriguing pieces in the exhibit is the Portrait of Père Bouju by Maurice de Vlaminck. It was painted around the year 1900 by the French artist. It is not particularly beautiful by normal standards. At first glance, the texture of the paint stands out more than any other feature. It has very strongly defined brush strokes and thick paint in portions, especially the face of the man and the background. The lines in the paint are mostly straight, short, and wide with some that are thinner and wavy, like the smoke. The man is in the center of the canvas, he is the only discernable image, and he is almost devoid of detail aside from the face and the hat. The colors are almost entirely neutral aside from the red scarf. In this oil on canvas portrait the man is wearing a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Mistakes In Medical Field Essay Jerald A. Eckman Making mistakes is what it means to be human. It is the way in which we deal with this adversity that determines whether we will regress or prosper. I think of the mistakes I have made in my life as opportunities to grow as a man and a young physician an individual with the ability and desire to help others in need, especially during times in their life when they may feel as though many of their decisions have been mistakes. When my medical education began, I immediately knew this was a passion unlike any other I had ever had. Unfortunately, my exuberance for becoming a physician was not initially met with academic achievement. At the end of my first semester, I knew that I could either let the mistakes I have made defeat me, or I could use them to my advantage. I often reflect on my initial struggles as a medical student as being one of the most difficult, and yet, ironically rewarding experiences of my adult life. • 35. Monuments And Masculinity In Roland Emmerich s... Monuments and Masculinity Roland Emmerich s Independence Day (1996) mirrors the ideology of a sci fi film outlined by Susan Sontag in the Imagination of Disaster so closely that it borders on a lack of creativity. That is what qualifies this film as a revival of the sci fi genre following revisionist works like Steven Spielberg s E.T. the Extra Terrestrial (1982). This film, among other things, believes that femininity in leadership will lead to disaster on the political stage and that personal relationships should mirror the ideals of this government balance. This scene uses framing and set design re erect themes of the traditional sci fi ideology such as the military embodiment of masculinity and the weak femininity of a scientist . This scene also sets the stage for what Sontag calls the balance of a good war and the yearning for peace which unfolds throughout the film. The ideology of Independence Day is despairingly unoriginal, touching on almost all themes outlined by Sontag as what makes the science fiction genre. Queuing up stage Sontag s third stage of the science fiction film, In the capital of the country, conferences between scientists and the military take place... ; of course, the difference being these shots are in Area 51. Intertitles clearly define for the viewer where the jet is heading, doing so it is reinforcing the authority they have to travel there. This is an ironic move considering the random assortment of civilians they have on board, and the lack of authority they had not even an hour prior. The set design and misé en scene are so blatantly full of military machismo as the president is seen peaking his character metamorphosis between an effeminate man and the strong leader. Slowly, a beyond oversized commercial airliner prop pulls into the base s set absolutely truncating the figures in every frame. The minimalist décor on the base exterior of the base contrasts with the extravagance of the ridiculous jet. The implications of the size of the machine and the machismo of its passengers, or the size of their genitals, is overbearing. It s one of the many phallic displays of power and masculinity that can be seen throughout the film, but this one obviously aids as a visual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have chosen to look at and analyse a television text. It is a TV drama aimed at a teenage audience called Skins. This can also be seen in Season 1 when Maxxies best friend Anwar refuses to tell his parents about Maxxies sexuality due to their religious beliefs. We see that Maxxie is torn between who he is and whom Anwar wants him to be and this puts the friendship under great strain resulting in Maxxie refusing to turn up to Anwars party.
