Why Psychology Is Important For Mental Health Professionals
The Importance Understanding the History of Psychology
Psychology is an ever evolving field of study that is truly just in its infancy. Although tremendous
strides have been made in our understanding of behavior, cognitions, emotions and brain functions, it
has only been in the last 130 years that psychology has been studied as a science (Goodwin, 2015, p.
4). It is important for mental health professionals to understand the history and evolution of
psychology because it is difficult, if not impossible, to fully grasp the subject without understanding
its history. Goodwin (2015) explains that knowing the history of psychology helps us critically think
about current issues and puts us in a better position to evaluate new claims of ... Show more content

When we have access to the personal lives and the histories of earlier psychologists who have
contributed so much to the field, it is like we have been given complex case studies with rich data
detailing the inner workings of their minds, which is invaluable.
Knowledge of the history of psychology increases our effectiveness as psychologists as we are able
analyze and learn from the mistakes made by psychologists who have come before us. We are also
able to reap the benefits of their work for ourselves and our clients, as well as future generations as
our clinical work and research in the field continue to grow and evolve.
We are fortunate to live in a time when resources are readily available for scientific research and
advances in technology are allowing us to learn about the brain at increasingly rapid rates.
Organizations such as the US National Institute of Mental Health have been established to transform
our understanding and treatment of mental disorders (Callie, 2015). While the establishment of
organizations to support research is not new, researchers today are able to study the neural activity of
the brains of people diagnosed with different mental health disorders which is much more extensive
research than we have been able to do at any point in history.
Researchers today are pioneers in their fields, just as the forefathers of psychology were in their
respective times. Understanding the processes

The Sweet Hereafter Analysis
Sometimes there is a situation that one is dragged into, such as some type of accident. For example,
Mitchell Stephens is one of the narrators in The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks. In his side of the
story, he is a lawyer from New York who heard about a bus accident in Sam Dent where ten children
died in a bus crash. Mitchell is also the one lawyer representing Risa Walker and her husband in a
negligence suit that financially compensated them for the loss of their son Sean. Mitchell is not only
just a lawyer like many others, but also had more experience. He sympathizes with the parents who
lost their children in the accident because, like these parents who lost their children, he also has a
daughter Zoe, who is he can consider dead due to her drug problem. To this reason, Mitchell Stephen
has the most to gain by telling his tale to the reader because he seeks to relieve himself from his grief
and to help future children riding to school who do not have to come to the same fate as others in the
accident.
One reason why Mitchell is trying to gain something by telling his tale is that he is trying to help the
people who lost their children in the accident. Mitchell might a lawyer but he did not come to San
Dent just because there was a good case like the bus accident and he it was good pay, no, not Mitchell,
he even said it himself that he did not come for the money as Mitchell said people immediately
assume we re greedy, that it s money we re after, people call us

The Human Impact On Natural Environment
The human impact on natural environment is one of the most pressing issues of contemporary times
and a subject of discussion. The increasing human population and the rising level of technology both
have become significant factors in raising the environmental problems. There are several
environmental problems around the world today which occurred due to both natural and human
causes. Of all the global environmental problems, desertification is, perhaps, the most threatening
problem. Desertification is the expansion of desert lands into previously non desert areas. Today in
many countries lands are becoming into deserts, and due to the conditions in the world soon we will
not be able to take it back. There are two main causes of desertification, one is human activities and the
other is climatic variations. The first and the most important cause of desertification is human
activities. Human causes includes Overgrazing, Over cultivation, Mismanagement of irrigation,
Deforestation, Urban and industrial activities, mining and exploitation of resources etc. All human
causes are related to over population. Due to overpopulation there is great pressure on land and
resources. According to Neo Malthusian, demographic pressure leads to overuse and misuse of
resources (Malthus, 1798). Earlier desertification was only a natural formation but day by day humans
are becoming responsible for it because of land mismanagements. One theory argues that resources

Marketing Factors Of Sherlock Holmes As A Business Item
Sherlock Holmes as a business item
The BBC Sherlock is a great example of the concept of tie in media, a product which is based on the
other media property such as a film, a game or a book. Tie in products and cross promotion is used
nowadays to keep the audiences` interest and attachmment to the particular product (Eastman 245
246). Due to the variety of different media and wide choice on the market, it is very important to
broadcast a product in different kind of media channels involving various marketing strategies. For
instance, BBC Online created several tie in websites devoted to the TV series, where the company
posts news about the project and where fans are able to discuss their favourite episodes and make

In 1923 it was translated again with the name The Monster Hound by Nobuhara Ken, who is the best
known and appreciated translator of all Conan Doyle`s canon in Japan (Yuichi). The stories about
Sherlock Holmes are included in the school curricula in almost all Japanese schools: According to the
survey of libraries in Junior High Schools in Japan, translated Sherlock Holmes stories have for many
years been among the top five titles which are most often read or requested (Yuichi). Another link
between Holmes and Japan is the above mentioned self defense technique baritsu, the Japanese
wrestling style. Besides, among other countries only Japan can boast a life sized Sherlock`s
monument. Moreover, the society of Sherlock`s admirers, The Japan Sherlock Holmes Club, which
was founded in 1977, has become one of the biggest societies devoted to the detective (Kobayashi).
Another Japanese adaptation which was created with Italian cartoon makers is an animation television

Open source is an approach to the design, development, and distribution of software, offering practical
accessibility to a software s source code. Some consider open source as one of various possible design
approaches, while others consider it a critical strategic element of their operations. Before open source
became widely adopted, developers and producers used a variety of phrases to describe the concept;
the term open source gained popularity with the rise of the Internet, which provided access to diverse
production models, communication paths, and interactive communities. Software is a general term for

Assessing the Education and Cognitive Needs of Individuals...
Assessing the educational and cognitive needs of individuals with mental retardation is a very
complex process. An appropriately chosen assessment can be a highly effective tool that can be used
to measure the progress of our students. The teacher must select assessment procedures carefully and
make judgments regarding the main areas to assess and then determine which areas of performance
need to be tested further. Effective use of the results will allow teachers to design instruction and
lessons specifically to fit the needs of their students. Where does the teacher start? A starting point is
to gather and then organize information from previous teacher reports, achievement test results, and,
most importantly, psychologist reports on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The test also helps in early the identification of reading and learning disability issues, the
understanding of an individual s learning profile, and identification of gifted children (Wechsler
intelligence scale for children, 2010). There are no detailed instructions for interpretation in WISC
tests. Since children really take opinion of others very serious, students self esteem can be affected
with the result of this test. But considering the students emotional and educational needs, the test is
one of the better tools for student placement into a special program that will meet the student s needs.
It will also prevent students from being improperly labeled and diagnosed (Assessing children with
the Wechsler intelligence scale, 2010). The Wechsler test is divided into a verbal section and a
nonverbal section and there are separate scores for each section. It takes one to two hours to take the
test or complete the test administration. At the end of the test there will be IQ scores of verbal scale IQ
that range from 90 to 110 which indicates the level of a student s intelligence, performance scale IQ,
and full scale IQ. In a situation where the student IQs scores are close enough together, it shows
student s verbal and performance skills are well developed, but if there is a gap between the scores, it
mean there are some learning problems that need interventions (Wechsler intelligence scale for

Netflix Persuasive Analysis
We all hate when a video on YouTube ends in a cliffhanger and you just have to watch the next video.
And then the one really long ad comes up and you almost fall asleep watching it, sometimes that skip
ad button isn t there and you have to watch the whole thing. Or, there is a skip ad button but you
accidentally click the ad instead and then it brings you to the website of the ad. At that point you get
so frustrated that you say to yourself ugh Netflix would never do this to me!!! Thats right! Netflix
doesn t have ads that you are forced to watch for at least 5 seconds while your trying to to watch your
show, not watch about how amazing the new Samsung S8 is. Also If you watch 2 movies a month,
Youtube would charge you 6 8 dollars, With Netflix, you can pay just $8 a month to watch unlimited
movies AND T.V. If you are looking to watch T.V. and Movies, Netflix is your company because you
only have to pay 8 dollars every month to get unlimited movies and t.v. vs. Youtube where you can
only watch 2 movies for $8. Also if you don t start watching that movie within 30 days, you have to
pay again, and if you don t finish watching the movie within 24 hours, you also have to pay again, If
you are looking to save money, I would watch Netflix instead of Youtube because you get a variety of
movies for the same price and you also can take your time watching the movie so you can take even a
year to watch a movie, but you won t have to follow any crazy rules. Youtube is

Rhetorical Devices In The Great Gatsby
Many of the people in the world regard The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald, one of the greatest literary
classics of all time. However there is always at least one, most the time few and far between, that
disagrees with this statement. H. L. Mencken is one of these persons. After reading the novel Mencken
writes an excerpt to be published in the magazine Evening Sun, after all he is one of the leading
literary critics of his time. In this essay we will discover how Mencken uses rhetorical devices to
portray his thoughts of the novel, The Great Gatsby. First of all, in H. L. Mencken s Argumentative
Analysis, we see how he conveys his tone to show his views of Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby.
The tone of this analysis is disinterested and unexcitable. Mencken is disappointed in the novel
because it is talked up to be one of the best literary achievements ever seen. However according to the
tone of Menken s analysis, he seems to be greatly disappointed in the novel that is supposed to be so
great. We see this here, ... the plain fact (is) that it is simply a story that Fitzgerald seems to be far
more interested in maintaining its suspense than in getting under the skins of its people (23 24).
Through this we see that Mencken s tone is conveyed. Mencken is obviously disappointed in the
novel, because he simply calls it a story. If however, Mencken had been impressed with the novel, he
may have called it something more exciting like a page turner or a compelling read .

Abstract Student Tracking System is a fully functional and easy to use, integrated, secure web
application, designed to meet the unique information management needs for students, faculties and for
administrators; providing innovative tools to save time and help them achieve their goals. The goal of
this project is to create a common web based system for the university; which would allow
administrators to manage programs, courses, prerequisites, class schedules for each department at
single place throghout any quarter; and this would allow faculties to monitor students academic
progress; manage class SCHEDULE; to approve or to decline the students permission to enroll in his
class; track number of enrolled students as well as number of pending students for enrollment, to post
assignments, to view students submitted solutions for the assignments or homework ; to post the
grades and assignments through this web application and also allowing students to view their current
quarter class schedule, grades, assignments and assignment scores, and also allows them to register
classes. Not only this, but students can also obtain guidance regarding the courses to be taken based on
the priorities such as Prerequisites, Core courses or Electives. Additionally, the system provides a
secure file submittal system, through which students can submit assignments or homework in
electronic format directly to instructors.

Kenya is home to many outstanding safari destinations and national parks, the finest of them is
undoubtedly the Maasai Mara National Reserve, or the Mara , as insiders call it. The Mara is part of
the phenomenal Serengeti Mara biosphere. Breathtaking views over savannah and gently rolling hills
provide the visitor the rare opportunity of always seeing some game as there is little vegetation to
block the view. The Mara is home for all big cats: leopard, cheetah and the rarely spotted lynx like
caracal, and prides itself with the largest lion population in Africa, best seen during the dryer season
from December to February.

ALL YEAR LONG
Maasai Mara is an all year safari haven, populated with all the mammals, birds and reptiles a safari
tourist longs to see. First and foremost it is home of the The Big Five elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and
buffalo,
The most endangered among these is the Black Rhino, poached and hunted for their precious horn
which is, tragically for the rhino, believed by some people to be a powerful aphrodisiac.
The number of black rhinos has decreased dramatically in the last third of the 20th century, but due to
frequent patrols and intensified anti poaching measures, the number is on the rise again, increasing the
visitor s chances, to spot one of the approximately 50 rhinos, mainly found in the Mara Triangle.
Elephants and buffalos are still found in plenty. Herds of more than 500 animals can be observed
stomping over the plains in their ever continuing search for food. Hippopotamus, or at least their
distinctive backs, can be frequently witnessed in the Mara River, and are often heard during the night,
when they leave their wet shelter. A little known fact about hippos is that they spend the day in the
water to protect their delicate skin which is easily burnt by the tropical sun. As yet there are no SPF
lotions for hippos! Prides of lions in different sizes can be spotted almost everywhere and the nights
vibrate with their roars.
These animals and many more plus the real African landscape makes the Maasai Mara

Relationship Between Ph And Temperature
What s the Relationship Between pH and Temperature?
The most important question to ask is, of course, does changing the temperature of a solution affect its
pH. Knowing this is required in order to go forward with attempting to apply a relationship between
the two to Acid Deposition. The simple answer is that pH is affected by the Temperature of the
solution, with some minor complexities
The main explanation of this relationship is Le Chatelier s Principle (Fondriest Environmental
201410), which explains how changes in concentrations, pressure, and temperature alter the
equilibrium of a reaction. Increasing the temperature favors the endothermic reaction, meaning if the
forward reaction is exothermic, then the new equilibrium has more reactant than the old one, and vice
versa in endothermic forward reactions. The opposite occurs when decreasing the temperature and the
exothermic reaction is favored. The reaction of water to form Hydrogen and Hydroxide ions is an
endothermic reaction, meaning absorption of energy in the reaction. This means that increasing the
temperature would lead to more product in equilibrium, and less product when the temperature
decreases.
The idea is that the number of Hydrogen ions is changing as a result of the new equilibrium. This new
equilibrium will either have less product, meaning increased pH; or more product, meaning decreased
pH. The exception to this is Water and solutions with a pH of 7. This is because the amount of

Romantic Antics during the Romantic Period of Music
What makes you think of the Romantic Period in music? The music period deemed the Romantic
Period was brought into place by the major social and political stresses following the French
Revolution, having the outcome of trends worldwide. The Romantic Period itself, outside of music,
was a dramatic movement that was caused by rebelling everything that the Classical Period held as far
as standards in music, art, and societal living. This rebellion against the cultural norm caused differing
standpoints between logic and emotion, science and faith, freedom and oppression, capitalism and
socialism, and also the difference between structured music and expressive music. The composers
during this period were interesting in that they were able to construct such a stylistic way of writing,
and preforming music, in such a short time. Some artists in this time that were crucial to this
development of music were Chopin, and Schumann, who will be later discussed. Frederic Chopin was
given an early start in music. He was born on March 1, 1879 in Zelazowa Wola, Poland. The young
boy had not but aged 7 years when he wrote his first composition. Imagine that, a second grader who
knew how to write his own compositions. Personally I think that is amazing because sometimes it
seems nearly impossible to write anything that is original. This young boy was soon after sent to the
Warsaw Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the Polish Josef Elsner. His early beginnings
in music did

Federal Response Plan
Functions of the Federal Response Plan The Federal Response Plan (FRP) delivers Federal assistance
to disaster areas or when an emergency is declared by state or local authorities. The Robert T. Stafford
Disaster Relief act establishes the structure and process for the FRP to deliver federal assistance. The
FRP establishes the policies, concepts, and planning for federal response to emergencies. The plan

Planning also takes into consideration the level of state and local demand for outside help. The most
devastating disasters may require the full range of Federal response and recovery assistance. Less
damaging disasters may require only partial Federal response and recovery assistance, and some
disasters may require only Federal recovery assistance (p.10).
Concepts
State and local responders formulate the concepts within the FRP around disasters and emergencies
that can be handled the Federal Government is called on to provide supplemental assistance when the
consequences of a disaster exceed State and local capabilities (p.11). If assistance is required by State,
and local agencies, the Federal Government has the ability to deploy a wide range of assets to aid state
and local efforts during the disaster. The Federal Government has a large contingency of support
personnel, teams, operating facilities, specialized equipment, and assistance programs that allow for
disaster operations. The FRP describes the major components of the system, as well as the structure

Analysis Of The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao
The Faceless Man Throughout Junot Diaz s novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, the Man
Without a Face is a recurring character with no evident features. All of his scenes include an event in
which he is either a mysterious spectator watching the distress around himself or joins in on the
torture. His appearances throughout the story are suggestive of evil or violent incidents that are about
to occur. More times than not, the acts are performed by Trujillo s men. Almost consistently, he
emerges whenever one of the main characters is in great discord. The faceless man symbolizes the
foreshadowing of malicious occurrences caused by Fukú. Fukú is a prevalent theme throughout the
novel and is portrayed through the faceless man. The Washington Post speaks of their interview with
Diaz and stated, Fuku americanus Diaz explains, is generally a curse or a doom of some kind;
specifically the Curse and the Doom of the New World. It seems especially contagious and deadly in
the Dominican Republic, where it is believed that the arrival of Europeans on Hispaniola unleashed
the Fukú on the world. (Review: It s a Wonderful Life 4). Fukú is shown through the many horrific
events that are shown throughout. Trujillo is believed to be able to put the curse on whoever he
chooses for many generations to follow. In the news article Fukú Americanus, Deresiewicz states, The
white man s advent, the narrator tells us, released a demon into the world: Fukú americanus, the Curse

Second Wave Of Feminism
Feminism is the fight for equality among the sexes. It can be dated back to the mid 19th century with
women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. The first wave feminist procured the right
to vote for American women. The following second and third waves built upon what the founding
feminists created. The second wave of feminism was set off by the disenchantment women across
America were experiencing. This disenchantment was caused by the nuclear family, and the roles that
the women in the 1950s were thrust into. The second wave is said to have lasted from the 1960s
1980s. Sometime after the 1980s, most likely the early to mid 1990s, third wave feminists began to
rear their heads. The third wave build on the advancements made by the first and second waves. There
has been controversy regarding the thought that the third wave is actually just an extension of the
second. This paper will explore the second and third waves of feminism as well as their relationship
between themselves. The second wave of feminism is said to have been born in 1963 with the
publication of the Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan. Friedan s ground breaking novel took an
introspective look into the life of a woman in the 1950s. It questioned all of the roles that women were
expected to portray. The 1950s woman was supposed to be a wife first, a mother second, and a
somewhere much further down the list. Friedan made this women question if they were really okay
with living in the margins. The second wave took what the first wave had done and ran with it. They
were fighting for equality among sexes, reproductive rights for women, women s role in the work
place, and domestic violence, and they established the crisis surrounding rape in America. There were
many key events that occurred during the second wave of feminism. In 1960 the Pill was approved by
the FDA. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy established the President s Commission on the Status of
Women. He appointed Eleanor Roosevelt the chair of the commission. JFK also signed into law the
Equal Pay Act of 1963. Then, in1964 Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After
the creation of the National Organization for Women (NOW), an executive order was issued by

Searle s Chinese Room Searle s Chinese Room argument tackles the question if computers can really
understand or think for themselves, and if this understanding can be expressed through related terms.
It is imperative to comment that this argument challenges the idea of strong AI instead of weak AI.
Strong AI is the view that programmed computers can understand natural language along with other
mental skills similar to humans. An example of strong AI is a computer that can play a board game
intelligently or fathom a language. Weak AI is the understanding that computers are only useful in
things like psychology or grammar. The great difference is that weak AI makes no claim that
computers actually understand or are intellectual. The Chinese ... Show more content on

Searle states in his writing, The point of the argument is this: if the man in the room does not
understand Chinese on the basis of implementing the appropriate program for understanding Chinese
then neither does any other digital computer solely on that basis because no computer, qua computer,
has anything the man does not have. It is important to understand that this computation is just rule
based symbol manipulation, and that the manipulation and matching is done purely on the basis of the
shape of the symbols, not on their meaning. This is central for the discussion of intelligent AI because
it claims that artificial intelligence will never be able to understand and think for its own. It will
always rely on a human controller to give it the inputs that it needs to have a matching output. Searle
points out that in executing the program not even he would understand the messages. He would only
manipulate symbols, on the basis of their shapes, according to the rules in the manual. Therefore,
because of the hardware independence of computation, if Searle would not be understanding Chinese
under those conditions, neither would any other piece of hardware executing that Chinese Turing Test
passing program. This argument directly argues against the theory that cognition is just computation
that both humans and AI can achieve. Another way to state this argument in a more simplified manner
is that programs are entirely syntactical and because minds have a semantics, programs are not minds
because syntax isn t the same as

Friendship And Self Discipline In Remember The Titans
The Civil Rights movement made a big change in American history. In the movie Remember the
Titans we see how de segregation effects high school football teams, coaches and society. The movie
takes place at a time in history when integration of black and white teenagers start in schools. There is
a cultural divide between the football players. The main characters are Herman Boone, Bill Yoast,
Sheryl Yoast, Gerry Bertier, and Julius Campbell. In this project I will explain 4 examples of
friendship/self discipline by the main characters in the movie. Next I will explain what friendship and
self discipline mean to me. The definition of friendship is someone you can have fun with. Someone
you can always depend on if you need help. A person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yoast begins to see that they must work as a team to get the players to get along and respect each other
s culture.
Moreover, Boone uses different things with the players to get the players to get along. He makes the
black players and whites players ride on the same bus, share rooms, and all the players run at the battle
of Gettysburg. These things make the team come together and look at each other like a team and not
color. This also make Boone and Yoast have respect for each other and become friends in the end.
Second, Gerry Bertier is the white player that seems to be the leader of the white players. Julius
Campbell is a black player that seems to be the leader of the black players. At first the two teenagers
do not get along because of race, favoritism, and need to protect their culture. Coach Boone having the
team players get on same bus, share rooms, and help each other on the run at the Gettysburg battle
make the players become a better team a develop a friendship. Gerry and Campbell develop a respect
for one another and it rubs off on the other teammates. Towards the end you can see that Gerry and
Julius are now good friends. Gerry gets into a car accident and asks Julius to come visit him in the
hospital. This is a big difference from the beginning of the movie when they hated each other just
because their skin color is different.

The Plague
Camus, Albert, and Stuart Gilbert. The Plague. New York: Vintage International, 1991. Print.
Written in 1948, Albert Camus The Plague is a study of human behaviour in a time of widespread
crisis caused by plague. Based on a modern city named Oran in Algeria, where plague which was
troubling the people for almost a year, rises suddenly killing people each day. The novel follows
Bernard Rieux, a doctor in the city of Oran, who becomes alarmed on noticing number of rats dying in
the streets before the plague started killing people. In The Plague, Camus presents the philosophical
concept of absurdism, where the absurdist view world as irrational and meaningless. Further, through
this beautifully plotted novel, Camus investigates human behaviour ... Show more content on

In The Plague, the bubonic plague is a symbol of many things, including the harsh, meaningless
universe, the human condition, or war, everything symbolizing suffering and death. People in Oran
deal with these absurdism in many ways. First, they try to ignore it on the expense of peace of mind,
and then they see it as an antagonism which separates them from loved ones. For example, Rieux
while chatting with Rambert states that, For nothing in the world is it worth turning one s back on
what one loves (210). Some see it as divine punishment or a means to profit, while others like father
Paneloux gives up hope and succumb to the plague. The young son of M. Othon, Jacques death is the
most profound example to suffering and death (241). It is so profound that, description of the death
leads Father Paneloux to doubt in his faith in god. Since the novel is about the plague, suffering and
death looms entire through the novel, and Camus has used it to remind us the potential threats of
human condition, and the need to confront

How Gunpowder Shaped The World
Almost everybody recognizes that gunpowder had an impact in the world today, however, few people
realize just how much it has shaped the world as the public knows it. It has modernized the field of
battle, from warriors running across an open plain, wielding swords and shields, to commanders
strategically and methodically using resources. It turned walls into rubble, boulders into pebbles, and
people into dust. It changed warfare overall, and with it, the world. Although a lot of people agree that
gunpowder was, and still is, a horrible invention, it has a unique story, including how it was made,
how it was used, and the effects that it had on the world. Gunpowder was created in the 9th century in
Ancient China, according to Karen Carr, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been so many battles in history that have been decided by the use of gunpowder. For
instance, the Ottoman Turks had been trying for what seemed like forever to take over the city of
Constantinople. The city s walls made the city impenetrable, and without gunpowder to blow the wall
to bits, the city may never have fallen. These types have examples are seen all of the time in history,
from the most basic of border skirmishes, to the largest of battles. Because of its widescale use, it
changed how warfare was fought as a whole. Before the 13th century, two armies would shoot a few
arrows at each other and then charge with swords and shields. Subsequently, armies that just flat out
charged straight forward would be obliterated by cannons and other fiery weapons. After the medieval
era, and into the Renaissance era, castles were a lot less common. The point of castles were to provide
a main defense for people higher up on the social ladder. The castle had to be near impenetrable
without a large force attacking it, and it had to be easily defended. This was completely swept away
with gunpowder, because a force could just show up with a cannon, blow a couple holes in the walls,
and run right in and capture the city. Gunpowder also allowed European countries like Spain, England,
France, and Portugal to explore and claim new lands as their own. Even the most

Persuasive Essay On Changing The Date Of Australia Day
Nearly every country features a special day where they celebrate their nation as an entire country and
the 26th of January is the day that we Australians celebrate Australia day. We have been doing this for
the past more than 200 years. Changing the date of Australia day has been a debate brought up every
year in January. In a recent poll, the results show that most Australians don t care what date Australia
day is held on as long as there is still a day where us Australians celebrate together as a whole. So,
why do people feel the urge to change this date? There are many reasons why Australia day should be
changed to a day that represents Australia more.
The 26th of January is the day of the first fleet, but it was too the day that the intrusion begun. This
day is seen by a few individuals as the day of mourning . This is because this day is when the first
nation people had lost their land, alongside being persecuted by the settlers and numerous other issues
that go with it. Plus, 26th January truly implies nothing to Australia as an entirety. They are not really

fact, a whole week in advance, some men landed on the Sydney s Botany cove but afterwards found it
not comfortable for them to settle, hence, they then migrated to another little cove which is presently
known as the Sydney Harbour. Since it wasn t indeed the exact day that the British landed on
Australia, then why celebrate it on this day? We think that this day should be changed because there is
no reason why we should keep it on this day if it has no specific reason to stay and doesn t represent

Phenolphthalein Lab
In this lab, we examined cubes of phenolphthalein submerged in Sodium hydroxide to see what the
effects would be. For the phenolphthalein, we used Agar cubes cut in three different sizes: small,
medium and large. The purpose of this Lab was to study the surface area to volume ratio in cells and
see how this ratio affects cell size. Phenolphthalein (C20H14O4) is one of the most common acid base
indicators used to determine the end point in acid base titrations. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is an
inorganic compound also known as lye. When exposed to each other, these two compounds made the
Agar cubes turn magenta (pink). Diffusion occurs along diffusion gradients going from areas of high
concentration to areas of lower concentration. So with time the NaOH diffuses from the area of high
concentration outside of the agar cube to areas of lower concentration inside of the cube. Once the
Agar cubes had been immersed in the NaOH for ten minutes, we cut each cube in half. The depth of
diffusion on each of the cubes was .3 cm. * The rate of diffusion for all three agar cubes was .03 ...

Cells need to metabolize nutrients and excrete waste in order to live. These processes need to occur
efficiently. On the agar cubes, the pink area represents the depth of diffusion and indicates how far
nutrients diffusing into the cell would travel. The percentage of pink area indicates how efficient the
diffusion is. The white area is bad because this means there was no diffusion into that region. In
theory, any cube with a white area will die since that portion of the cell would not acquire the
necessary nutrients. The small cube was the most efficient at gaining nutrients and getting rid of waste
as almost all of the cube had turned pink. In conclusion, the best cell size was the small cube because
it had the larges SA:Vol ratio and therefore, it had the most diffusion. Cells need a large SA:Vol ratio
to stay alive, that is why they are microscopic in

Mark Edmundson On The Uses Of Modern Education Summary
On the Criticisms of Modern Education
There are courses that students take in order to earn credit, and most require essays. Each essay that is
submitted is expected to follow a set of rules, with students obligated to follow these rules and to
create an end product that encompasses the expectations set forth by their teacher. The following
summary and response to Mark Edmundson s work follows most of the rules, though it may not meet
expectations set forth by a single teacher. Some risks are worth taking, even if it may seem to
jeopardize the educational path students feel obliged to follow. Using his experiences with students
who follow rules, Edmundson makes many misguided judgments about the passions, individuality,
and educational decisions of students. On the Uses of a Liberal Education by Mark Edmundson
examines the relationship between the ways of college students and the universities they attend. He
states that students lack passion and avoid taking educational chances to challenge themselves.
Edmundson also has the idea that all of his students, except for a few outliers, are cowardly and
unwilling to pursue higher paths of education. According to Edmundson, the universities are to blame;
the main purpose of the universities being to appease the wants and needs of students. This consumer
culture created by universities is unknowingly perpetuated by the students who wish to attend.
Edmundson concludes with ideas of how to improve this relationship: getting rid

Comparative Anatomy
Different organisms that have similar basic structures, but can be used for different purposes are
evidence for a common ancestor. These are called homologous structures. An example is the
pentadactyl limb, which is the basic structure found in amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The
basic structure is formed of:
One bone in the upper limb
Two bones in the lower limb
Five fingers of toes In bats, the limb is a wing, and does contain the finger structure, which are
extended across the wings and skin stretched over. Within a whales fin, they possess a fully formed

As well as this, certain blood proteins are found in a number of species. When genetic code (DNA and
RNA) is used by a cell, it builds amino acids in a sequence, which forms protein. Chemical tests can
determine whether one species has the similar blood proteins to another, thus showing evidence of
evolutionary relationships. Organisms with a common ancestor have a close number of amino acid
sequences in common. For example, chimpanzees and humans have no difference in their amino acid
protein count in their haemoglobin evidence for a common ancestor.
Palaeontology
Fossils provide a record of how organisms have evolved overtime, as they contain the remains of life
trapped in sediment, ice or amber and preserved for over millions of years. Transitional fossils, which
provide evidence for evolutionary change, have features that show the transition of characteristics of
organisms from ancestors to descendents. An example is Archaeopteryx, which featured reptilian
features, including teeth and skeleton, however, also had feathers and a wishbone sternum (used to
attach muscles for flying). The evidence of the fossil shows the evolutionary transition between
dinosaurs and

Many of the smaller surrounding states saw the successes of the customs union and so decided to join
themselves. From then on many large states joined. The customs union became known as the

The Zollverein was a great success and was a large step to the unification of Germany. The systems of
weights and measures was homogenised within the states of the Zollverein. The major differences
between the states were now becoming not so apparent. Due to the abolition of customs barriers and
the currency no longer varying from each state trade increased between the countries. This did not
occur however without the help of the railways. Lines were extended throughout the states of the
Zollverein. Because of this, delegates were able to travel quickly and efficiently to other states to
agree trade treaties. Communication between the states increased greatly and now not only were
economic barriers broken down but also physical ones. Communication to enable unity increased
greatly through the railways. One economist described the railway network as the firm girdle around
the loins of Germany binding her limbs together into a forceful and powerful body .
The Zollverein also aided in the unification of Germany as it increased feelings of one country in other
words, nationalism. The railways helped with the spread of German press. Now

The Learning Approaches Teacher s Students On The Path Of...
Classroom instruction of yesteryear involved the teacher to dictate information to students in hopes
that they would recall and be able to use the knowledge when opportunity arises. Today s classrooms
are much different. Rather than providing problems and the information required to resolve them,
students are given opportunities to explore, question, analyze, interpret, collaborate, experience, and
more, to acquire knowledge and build critical thinking skills. The goal is for all students to develop
these skills and when opportunity arises, transfer them into real world situations. Today, there are
many ways to engage and involve students in the social studies classroom. This essay will look at
three learning approaches teacher s use to put students on the path of developing critical thinking

The White Rose Moral Courage
The courageous people that took part in the White Rose acts are the best definitions of showing moral
courage. The White Rose s acts that happened during World War II made a big difference. A group of
young men and women stood up for what is right, and we need more of that in this world. We need
more moral courage in this modern day world. Many people do not know about the White Rose
actions but, everyone should. Everyone should also look into their actions, take them into
consideration and learn from them.
In Nazi, Germany during World War II in 1942 a group including Willi Graf, Alexander Schmorell,
Kurt Huber Christoph Probst, Hans Scholl and his sister Sophie Scholl formed a non violent resistance
group that made leaflets. The group was influenced by a young German youth group that Chrisoph
Probst was a member of. Hans Scholl was a member of the Hitler Youth until 1936 and Sophie was a
member of the Bund Deutscher Mädel. Willi Graf was a member of Neudeutschland, a young catholic

  • 2. Why Psychology Is Important For Mental Health Professionals The Importance Understanding the History of Psychology Psychology is an ever evolving field of study that is truly just in its infancy. Although tremendous strides have been made in our understanding of behavior, cognitions, emotions and brain functions, it has only been in the last 130 years that psychology has been studied as a science (Goodwin, 2015, p. 4). It is important for mental health professionals to understand the history and evolution of psychology because it is difficult, if not impossible, to fully grasp the subject without understanding its history. Goodwin (2015) explains that knowing the history of psychology helps us critically think about current issues and puts us in a better position to evaluate new claims of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When we have access to the personal lives and the histories of earlier psychologists who have contributed so much to the field, it is like we have been given complex case studies with rich data detailing the inner workings of their minds, which is invaluable. Knowledge of the history of psychology increases our effectiveness as psychologists as we are able analyze and learn from the mistakes made by psychologists who have come before us. We are also able to reap the benefits of their work for ourselves and our clients, as well as future generations as our clinical work and research in the field continue to grow and evolve. We are fortunate to live in a time when resources are readily available for scientific research and advances in technology are allowing us to learn about the brain at increasingly rapid rates. Organizations such as the US National Institute of Mental Health have been established to transform our understanding and treatment of mental disorders (Callie, 2015). While the establishment of organizations to support research is not new, researchers today are able to study the neural activity of the brains of people diagnosed with different mental health disorders which is much more extensive research than we have been able to do at any point in history. Researchers today are pioneers in their fields, just as the forefathers of psychology were in their respective times. Understanding the processes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Sweet Hereafter Analysis Sometimes there is a situation that one is dragged into, such as some type of accident. For example, Mitchell Stephens is one of the narrators in The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks. In his side of the story, he is a lawyer from New York who heard about a bus accident in Sam Dent where ten children died in a bus crash. Mitchell is also the one lawyer representing Risa Walker and her husband in a negligence suit that financially compensated them for the loss of their son Sean. Mitchell is not only just a lawyer like many others, but also had more experience. He sympathizes with the parents who lost their children in the accident because, like these parents who lost their children, he also has a daughter Zoe, who is he can consider dead due to her drug problem. To this reason, Mitchell Stephen has the most to gain by telling his tale to the reader because he seeks to relieve himself from his grief and to help future children riding to school who do not have to come to the same fate as others in the accident. One reason why Mitchell is trying to gain something by telling his tale is that he is trying to help the people who lost their children in the accident. Mitchell might a lawyer but he did not come to San Dent just because there was a good case like the bus accident and he it was good pay, no, not Mitchell, he even said it himself that he did not come for the money as Mitchell said people immediately assume we re greedy, that it s money we re after, people call us ... The increasing human population and the rising level of technology both have become significant factors in raising the environmental problems. There are several environmental problems around the world today which occurred due to both natural and human causes. Of all the global environmental problems, desertification is, perhaps, the most threatening problem. Desertification is the expansion of desert lands into previously non desert areas. Today in many countries lands are becoming into deserts, and due to the conditions in the world soon we will not be able to take it back. There are two main causes of desertification, one is human activities and the other is climatic variations. The first and the most important cause of desertification is human activities. Human causes includes Overgrazing, Over cultivation, Mismanagement of irrigation, Deforestation, Urban and industrial activities, mining and exploitation of resources etc. All human causes are related to over population. Due to overpopulation there is great pressure on land and resources. According to Neo Malthusian, demographic pressure leads to overuse and misuse of resources (Malthus, 1798). Earlier desertification was only a natural formation but day by day humans are becoming responsible for it because of land mismanagements. One theory argues that resources under common ... An appropriately chosen assessment can be a highly effective tool that can be used to measure the progress of our students. The teacher must select assessment procedures carefully and make judgments regarding the main areas to assess and then determine which areas of performance need to be tested further. Effective use of the results will allow teachers to design instruction and lessons specifically to fit the needs of their students. Where does the teacher start? The Wechsler test is divided into a verbal section and a nonverbal section and there are separate scores for each section. It takes one to two hours to take the test or complete the test administration. At the end of the test there will be IQ scores of verbal scale IQ that range from 90 to 110 which indicates the level of a student s intelligence, performance scale IQ, and full scale IQ. And then the one really long ad comes up and you almost fall asleep watching it, sometimes that skip ad button isn t there and you have to watch the whole thing. Or, there is a skip ad button but you accidentally click the ad instead and then it brings you to the website of the ad. At that point you get so frustrated that you say to yourself ugh Netflix would never do this to me!!! Thats right! Netflix doesn t have ads that you are forced to watch for at least 5 seconds while your trying to to watch your show, not watch about how amazing the new Samsung S8 is. Also If you watch 2 movies a month, Youtube would charge you 6 8 dollars, With Netflix, you can pay just $8 a month to watch unlimited movies AND T.V. If you are looking to watch T.V. and Movies, Netflix is your company because you only have to pay 8 dollars every month to get unlimited movies and t.v. vs. Youtube where you can only watch 2 movies for $8. Also if you don t start watching that movie within 30 days, you have to pay again, and if you don t finish watching the movie within 24 hours, you also have to pay again, If you are looking to save money, I would watch Netflix instead of Youtube because you get a variety of movies for the same price and you also can take your time watching the movie so you can take even a year to watch a movie, but you won t have to follow any crazy rules. However there is always at least one, most the time few and far between, that disagrees with this statement. H. L. Mencken is one of these persons. After reading the novel Mencken writes an excerpt to be published in the magazine Evening Sun, after all he is one of the leading literary critics of his time. In this essay we will discover how Mencken uses rhetorical devices to portray his thoughts of the novel, The Great Gatsby. First of all, in H. L. Mencken s Argumentative Analysis, we see how he conveys his tone to show his views of Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby. The tone of this analysis is disinterested and unexcitable. Mencken is disappointed in the novel because it is talked up to be one of the best literary achievements ever seen. However according to the tone of Menken s analysis, he seems to be greatly disappointed in the novel that is supposed to be so great. We see this here, ... the plain fact (is) that it is simply a story that Fitzgerald seems to be far more interested in maintaining its suspense than in getting under the skins of its people (23 24). Through this we see that Mencken s tone is conveyed. Mencken is obviously disappointed in the novel, because he simply calls it a story. If however, Mencken had been impressed with the novel, he may have called it something more exciting like a page turner or a compelling read . ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Relationship Between Ph And Temperature What s the Relationship Between pH and Temperature? The most important question to ask is, of course, does changing the temperature of a solution affect its pH. Knowing this is required in order to go forward with attempting to apply a relationship between the two to Acid Deposition. The simple answer is that pH is affected by the Temperature of the solution, with some minor complexities The main explanation of this relationship is Le Chatelier s Principle (Fondriest Environmental 201410), which explains how changes in concentrations, pressure, and temperature alter the equilibrium of a reaction. Increasing the temperature favors the endothermic reaction, meaning if the forward reaction is exothermic, then the new equilibrium has more reactant than the old one, and vice versa in endothermic forward reactions. The opposite occurs when decreasing the temperature and the exothermic reaction is favored. The reaction of water to form Hydrogen and Hydroxide ions is an endothermic reaction, meaning absorption of energy in the reaction. This means that increasing the temperature would lead to more product in equilibrium, and less product when the temperature decreases. The idea is that the number of Hydrogen ions is changing as a result of the new equilibrium. This new equilibrium will either have less product, meaning increased pH; or more product, meaning decreased pH. The exception to this is Water and solutions with a pH of 7. This is because the amount of Hydrogen and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Romantic Antics during the Romantic Period of Music What makes you think of the Romantic Period in music? The music period deemed the Romantic Period was brought into place by the major social and political stresses following the French Revolution, having the outcome of trends worldwide. The Romantic Period itself, outside of music, was a dramatic movement that was caused by rebelling everything that the Classical Period held as far as standards in music, art, and societal living. This rebellion against the cultural norm caused differing standpoints between logic and emotion, science and faith, freedom and oppression, capitalism and socialism, and also the difference between structured music and expressive music. The composers during this period were interesting in that they were able to construct such a stylistic way of writing, and preforming music, in such a short time. Some artists in this time that were crucial to this development of music were Chopin, and Schumann, who will be later discussed. Frederic Chopin was given an early start in music. He was born on March 1, 1879 in Zelazowa Wola, Poland. The young boy had not but aged 7 years when he wrote his first composition. Imagine that, a second grader who knew how to write his own compositions. Personally I think that is amazing because sometimes it seems nearly impossible to write anything that is original. • 17. Second Wave Of Feminism Feminism is the fight for equality among the sexes. It can be dated back to the mid 19th century with women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. The first wave feminist procured the right to vote for American women. The following second and third waves built upon what the founding feminists created. The second wave of feminism was set off by the disenchantment women across America were experiencing. This disenchantment was caused by the nuclear family, and the roles that the women in the 1950s were thrust into. The second wave is said to have lasted from the 1960s 1980s. Sometime after the 1980s, most likely the early to mid 1990s, third wave feminists began to rear their heads. The third wave build on the advancements made by the first and second waves. There has been controversy regarding the thought that the third wave is actually just an extension of the second. This paper will explore the second and third waves of feminism as well as their relationship between themselves. The second wave of feminism is said to have been born in 1963 with the publication of the Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan. Friedan s ground breaking novel took an introspective look into the life of a woman in the 1950s. It questioned all of the roles that women were expected to portray. The 1950s woman was supposed to be a wife first, a mother second, and a somewhere much further down the list. Friedan made this women question if they were really okay with living in the margins. The second wave took what the first wave had done and ran with it. They were fighting for equality among sexes, reproductive rights for women, women s role in the work place, and domestic violence, and they established the crisis surrounding rape in America. There were many key events that occurred during the second wave of feminism. In 1960 the Pill was approved by the FDA. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy established the President s Commission on the Status of Women. He appointed Eleanor Roosevelt the chair of the commission. JFK also signed into law the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Analyzing Searle s Chinese Room Argument Searle s Chinese Room Searle s Chinese Room argument tackles the question if computers can really understand or think for themselves, and if this understanding can be expressed through related terms. It is imperative to comment that this argument challenges the idea of strong AI instead of weak AI. Strong AI is the view that programmed computers can understand natural language along with other mental skills similar to humans. An example of strong AI is a computer that can play a board game intelligently or fathom a language. Weak AI is the understanding that computers are only useful in things like psychology or grammar. The great difference is that weak AI makes no claim that computers actually understand or are intellectual. The Chinese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Searle states in his writing, The point of the argument is this: if the man in the room does not understand Chinese on the basis of implementing the appropriate program for understanding Chinese then neither does any other digital computer solely on that basis because no computer, qua computer, has anything the man does not have. It is important to understand that this computation is just rule based symbol manipulation, and that the manipulation and matching is done purely on the basis of the shape of the symbols, not on their meaning. This is central for the discussion of intelligent AI because it claims that artificial intelligence will never be able to understand and think for its own. It will always rely on a human controller to give it the inputs that it needs to have a matching output. Searle points out that in executing the program not even he would understand the messages. He would only manipulate symbols, on the basis of their shapes, according to the rules in the manual. Therefore, because of the hardware independence of computation, if Searle would not be understanding Chinese under those conditions, neither would any other piece of hardware executing that Chinese Turing Test passing program. This argument directly argues against the theory that cognition is just computation that both humans and AI can achieve. Another way to state this argument in a more simplified manner is that programs are entirely syntactical and because minds have a semantics, programs are not minds because syntax isn t the same as ... These types have examples are seen all of the time in history, from the most basic of border skirmishes, to the largest of battles. After the medieval era, and into the Renaissance era, castles were a lot less common. The point of castles were to provide a main defense for people higher up on the social ladder. The castle had to be near impenetrable without a large force attacking it, and it had to be easily defended. The 26th of January is the day of the first fleet, but it was too the day that the intrusion begun. This day is seen by a few individuals as the day of mourning . This is because this day is when the first nation people had lost their land, alongside being persecuted by the settlers and numerous other issues that go with it. Plus, 26th January truly implies nothing to Australia as an entirety. They are not really celebrating the events that occurred on that day, it is what happened ... No, in fact, a whole week in advance, some men landed on the Sydney s Botany cove but afterwards found it not comfortable for them to settle, hence, they then migrated to another little cove which is presently known as the Sydney Harbour. Since it wasn t indeed the exact day that the British landed on Australia, then why celebrate it on this day? We think that this day should be changed because there is no reason why we should keep it on this day if it has no specific reason to stay and doesn t represent anything we would be proud ... She is planning to get married in a few months, and she is worried if everything is going to turn out like she wanted them to. She brought a few catalogs with a lot of hairstyles. She wanted my opinion about which hairstyle she should choose for her weeding day. We looked over all the pictures and we agreed on a couple of them that we both really liked. She said she would pick up her weeding dress in few days. We went over the weeding planner, the weeding list to make sure we have everybody on the list. Designing A Data Centre Topology Architecture Our IP Network will be simplified to strip out cost and complexity by taking out layers of switching and routing and moving to a robust multi tenanted network supporting multiple lines of business. Also our Distributed Cloud vision will require that we implement new infrastructure (NFVI) in a number of our core, edge and access locations. To support this, we will create a Data Centre topology architecture that lays out which locations will be upgraded to support what sort of virtualised network functions. • 29. Phenolphthalein Lab In this lab, we examined cubes of phenolphthalein submerged in Sodium hydroxide to see what the effects would be. For the phenolphthalein, we used Agar cubes cut in three different sizes: small, medium and large. The purpose of this Lab was to study the surface area to volume ratio in cells and see how this ratio affects cell size. Phenolphthalein (C20H14O4) is one of the most common acid base indicators used to determine the end point in acid base titrations. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is an inorganic compound also known as lye. When exposed to each other, these two compounds made the Agar cubes turn magenta (pink). Diffusion occurs along diffusion gradients going from areas of high concentration to areas of lower concentration. So with time the NaOH diffuses from the area of high concentration outside of the agar cube to areas of lower concentration inside of the cube. Once the Agar cubes had been immersed in the NaOH for ten minutes, we cut each cube in half. The depth of diffusion on each of the cubes was .3 cm. * The rate of diffusion for all three agar cubes was .03 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cells need to metabolize nutrients and excrete waste in order to live. These processes need to occur efficiently. On the agar cubes, the pink area represents the depth of diffusion and indicates how far nutrients diffusing into the cell would travel. The percentage of pink area indicates how efficient the diffusion is. The white area is bad because this means there was no diffusion into that region. In theory, any cube with a white area will die since that portion of the cell would not acquire the necessary nutrients. The small cube was the most efficient at gaining nutrients and getting rid of waste as almost all of the cube had turned pink. In conclusion, the best cell size was the small cube because it had the larges SA:Vol ratio and therefore, it had the most diffusion. Cells need a large SA:Vol ratio to stay alive, that is why they are microscopic in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Mark Edmundson On The Uses Of Modern Education Summary On the Criticisms of Modern Education There are courses that students take in order to earn credit, and most require essays. Each essay that is submitted is expected to follow a set of rules, with students obligated to follow these rules and to create an end product that encompasses the expectations set forth by their teacher. The following summary and response to Mark Edmundson s work follows most of the rules, though it may not meet expectations set forth by a single teacher. Some risks are worth taking, even if it may seem to jeopardize the educational path students feel obliged to follow. Using his experiences with students who follow rules, Edmundson makes many misguided judgments about the passions, individuality, and educational decisions of students. On the Uses of a Liberal Education by Mark Edmundson examines the relationship between the ways of college students and the universities they attend. He states that students lack passion and avoid taking educational chances to challenge themselves. Edmundson also has the idea that all of his students, except for a few outliers, are cowardly and unwilling to pursue higher paths of education. According to Edmundson, the universities are to blame; the main purpose of the universities being to appease the wants and needs of students. This consumer culture created by universities is unknowingly perpetuated by the students who wish to attend. Edmundson concludes with ideas of how to improve this relationship: getting rid ... Essay Outline The Evidence For Natural Selection Outline the evidence for natural selection Comparative Anatomy Different organisms that have similar basic structures, but can be used for different purposes are evidence for a common ancestor. These are called homologous structures. An example is the pentadactyl limb, which is the basic structure found in amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The basic structure is formed of: One bone in the upper limb Two bones in the lower limb Five fingers of toes In bats, the limb is a wing, and does contain the finger structure, which are extended across the wings and skin stretched over. Within a whales fin, they possess a fully formed pentadactyl limb. Analogous structures in organisms are structures in different species that have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As well as this, certain blood proteins are found in a number of species. When genetic code (DNA and RNA) is used by a cell, it builds amino acids in a sequence, which forms protein. Chemical tests can determine whether one species has the similar blood proteins to another, thus showing evidence of evolutionary relationships. Organisms with a common ancestor have a close number of amino acid sequences in common. For example, chimpanzees and humans have no difference in their amino acid protein count in their haemoglobin evidence for a common ancestor. Palaeontology Fossils provide a record of how organisms have evolved overtime, as they contain the remains of life trapped in sediment, ice or amber and preserved for over millions of years. Transitional fossils, which provide evidence for evolutionary change, have features that show the transition of characteristics of organisms from ancestors to descendents. An example is Archaeopteryx, which featured reptilian features, including teeth and skeleton, however, also had feathers and a wishbone sternum (used to attach muscles for flying). The evidence of the fossil shows the evolutionary transition between dinosaurs and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the abolition of customs barriers and the currency no longer varying from each state trade increased between the countries. This did not occur however without the help of the railways. Lines were extended throughout the states of the Zollverein. Because of this, delegates were able to travel quickly and efficiently to other states to agree trade treaties. Classroom instruction of yesteryear involved the teacher to dictate information to students in hopes that they would recall and be able to use the knowledge when opportunity arises. Today s classrooms are much different. Rather than providing problems and the information required to resolve them, students are given opportunities to explore, question, analyze, interpret, collaborate, experience, and more, to acquire knowledge and build critical thinking skills. The goal is for all students to develop these skills and when opportunity arises, transfer them into real world situations. Today, there are many ways to engage and involve students in the social studies classroom. This essay will look at three learning approaches teacher s use to put students on the path of developing critical thinking skills: project based learning, constructivism, and inquiry based learning. In the process, I look to determine the best learning approach for my wants and needs unit, so that I may also become a successful contributor to the critical thinking development of my students. Project Based Learning When using the project based learning (PBL) approach, an always changing and engaging environment not only involves the students, but also exposes them to real world situations and challenges ready for exploration.
