• This is a Time Management Course of 2 'classroom days',
over 6 months, with support in between training days,
designed to make the learning stick using our unique
training method Sticky Learning®.
• The demands on suppliers has never been greater in the
fast paced world of UK Grocery Retailing. There is always
more to be done than hours in the day. This programme
goes beyond time management and focuses on helping
learners to prioritise on the reason they are on the payroll,
so that they deliver their business KPIs.
• This unique training method is designed specifically to
meet the specific and challenging demands of grocery
suppliers to major UK supermarkets. This programme will
change the way learners think about time and how they
prioritise their activities so that they become more
productive and feel in control of their busy schedules. If
you are not sure whether you need this training course,
use the competency framework to see which level you are
at.
Learning Goals for the Time Management Course
1. To be able to build a much more effective and efficient time
management system that has the Learner's KPIs at the centre.
1. To understand the strengths & weaknesses of the Learner's
current time management system and how to increase their
strengths & decrease their weaknesses.
1. To learn new tools and techniques for managing the Learner's
own time better, that can be put into practise immediately at
the workplace.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this training course the Learner will be able to:
– Identify why they are on the payroll.
– Prepare and manage a daily list of tasks that is prioritised according
to their KPIs.
– Prepare and manage a project list that is prioritised according to
their KPIs.
– Identify what works and does not work in their current time
management system and how to improve.
– Assess their emails more quickly and deal with them more
effectively.
– Email more effectively to get what they want more quickly and
reduce ‘email conversations’.

These 2 days, 6 months apart, will greatly help the learner to understand the strengths &
weaknesses of their current time management system and show them how to embrace and
incorporate new tools & techniques into their current system so that they can build a more

Ideal Learners
Everyone that wishes to save time, save money and become more
effective and efficient with their time. Time Management is the skill that
unlocks all other skills because without managing their time well, they will
struggle to achieve what they want to. All roles are welcome to engage in
this training course about becoming a more effective and efficient time
manager.

Making the Learning Stick
• Hopefully the term ‘Sticky Learning’ has intrigued you, whilst
you probably guessed a sense of what it is about. In short Sticky
Learning is our own unique training method that we have
developed to help Learners Realise more of what they have
learnt, are able to Recall more of what they have learnt and
Retain more of what they have learnt.
• This is good for our clients because it means that they spend
money with us that is better invested than other training
providers because the learning is used for longer.

The Training Course Duration for the Time Management Courses
At MBM we no longer offer 1 day courses due to their limited effect.
Our ‘Sticky Learning‘ unique training method enables Learners to learn more, learn more quickly
and learn more easily. Sticky Learning is a key part of the 6 month programme consisting of a pre-
work, Learning To Learn 1/2 day training course, a Foundation 1 day training course, and an
Advanced 1 day training course, 6 months after the Foundation training course. In between the
Foundation training course and the Advanced training course, the Learner will be challenged to
complete 'Sticky Pieces', which appeals to the 70:20:10 learning model. These are desk based
activities that help the Learner to change their behaviour long term by identifying a habit that they
wish to adopt to embed the new skill.
The Learner is also given:
– Access to our skill specific and learning objective specific 'Knowledge Vault'.
– A free book - 'Eat That Frog'.
– Email and telephone support throughout the 6 month training course.
– There is also an option to bolt on 'Individual Coaching' to support the Learner further.
– There is also an option to bolt on a 1/2 day 'Annual Refresh' to support the Learner further.

of two halves; 12 years as a Category Manager
at one of the big four UK supermarkets and
then 12 years managing as the founder of

discussion between the learners to explore
the skill well, whilst not too many that any
one Learner gets 'lost' in the debate.

Measuring Return on Investment
There are many evaluation methods for training, each trying to find the holy grail of return on
investment. We use Donald Kirkpatrick’s four level training evaluation model as a base because it
has stood the test of time, since 1953.
– Level 1: Reaction: How did the learners react to the training?
– Level 2: Learning: How much learning did the learners get?
– Level 3: Behaviour: How much have the learners used the learning?
– Level 4: Results: How much effect did the learner's learning have on performance? Few training
providers measure the return on investment beyond the level 1 reaction.
We have added one further level:
– Level 5: Sponsor: How much did we achieve the sponsors objectives?

Time Management Classes - Learning Needs to be Intriguing
To this end of 'Learning needs to be intriguing' we name each one of our
training courses after a relevant film and we'll make reference to this on
the course.
For our Time Management training course we chose 'Groundhog Day'
because at the very heart of the course, the message is about breaking-
out from managing time the same way each day. Most people spend all of
their time 'IN' their time management system and we want to help the
learner spend time 'ON' their time management system.
This film, Groundhog Day, from 1993, rated PG, stars Bill Murray as a
weatherman stuck in the same day over and over and over again. An oldie
but a goldie!

Time Management – Training Course Outline 1 www.makingbusinessmatter.co.uk • This is a Time Management Course of 2 'classroom days', over 6 months, with support in between training days, designed to make the learning stick using our unique training method Sticky Learning®. • The demands on suppliers has never been greater in the fast paced world of UK Grocery Retailing. There is always more to be done than hours in the day. This programme goes beyond time management and focuses on helping learners to prioritise on the reason they are on the payroll, so that they deliver their business KPIs. • This unique training method is designed specifically to meet the specific and challenging demands of grocery suppliers to major UK supermarkets. This programme will change the way learners think about time and how they prioritise their activities so that they become more productive and feel in control of their busy schedules. To understand the strengths & weaknesses of the Learner's current time management system and how to increase their strengths & decrease their weaknesses. 1.   • 6. Making the Learning Stick • Hopefully the term ‘Sticky Learning’ has intrigued you, whilst you probably guessed a sense of what it is about. In short Sticky Learning is our own unique training method that we have developed to help Learners Realise more of what they have learnt, are able to Recall more of what they have learnt and Retain more of what they have learnt. • This is good for our clients because it means that they spend money with us that is better invested than other training providers because the learning is used for longer. 6 www.makingbusinessmatter.co.uk Time Management – Training Course Outline
  • 7. The Training Course Duration for the Time Management Courses At MBM we no longer offer 1 day courses due to their limited effect. Our ‘Sticky Learning‘ unique training method enables Learners to learn more, learn more quickly and learn more easily. Sticky Learning is a key part of the 6 month programme consisting of a pre- work, Learning To Learn 1/2 day training course, a Foundation 1 day training course, and an Advanced 1 day training course, 6 months after the Foundation training course. In between the Foundation training course and the Advanced training course, the Learner will be challenged to complete 'Sticky Pieces', which appeals to the 70:20:10 learning model. These are desk based activities that help the Learner to change their behaviour long term by identifying a habit that they wish to adopt to embed the new skill. The Learner is also given: – Access to our skill specific and learning objective specific 'Knowledge Vault'. – A free book - 'Eat That Frog'. – Email and telephone support throughout the 6 month training course. – There is also an option to bolt on 'Individual Coaching' to support the Learner further. – There is also an option to bolt on a 1/2 day 'Annual Refresh' to support the Learner further. 7 www.makingbusinessmatter.co.uk Time Management – Training Course Outline
  • 8. Training Course World Class Tutor Your tutor for the Time Management training course is Darren A. Smith.   • 10. Measuring Return on Investment There are many evaluation methods for training, each trying to find the holy grail of return on investment. We use Donald Kirkpatrick’s four level training evaluation model as a base because it has stood the test of time, since 1953. – Level 1: Reaction: How did the learners react to the training? – Level 2: Learning: How much learning did the learners get? – Level 3: Behaviour: How much have the learners used the learning? – Level 4: Results: How much effect did the learner's learning have on performance? Few training providers measure the return on investment beyond the level 1 reaction. We have added one further level: – Level 5: Sponsor: How much did we achieve the sponsors objectives? Time Management Classes - Learning Needs to be Intriguing To this end of 'Learning needs to be intriguing' we name each one of our training courses after a relevant film and we'll make reference to this on the course. For our Time Management training course we chose 'Groundhog Day' because at the very heart of the course, the message is about breaking- out from managing time the same way each day. Most people spend all of their time 'IN' their time management system and we want to help the learner spend time 'ON' their time management system. This film, Groundhog Day, from 1993, rated PG, stars Bill Murray as a weatherman stuck in the same day over and over and over again.
