Examples Of Adaptive Traits In An Organbird
ADAPTATION AND TRAITS
One of the adaptive traits that are said to have evolved in the population of an organism is the
beak of the the bird called the Finch. Most notably, birds are similar in the sense that they have
wings yet most birds exhibit differences in size.some birds are small while others are big.One
very importantly feature that make birds distinct is the shape and size of the beak. This is intresting
how birds can be so different yet belong to the same species. however. This is due in part to assist
the birds in the way of feeding in order for the birds to survive in their environment.
Describe what makes this trait an adaptation.
The beak is an adaptive trait that is useful for birds to function in their environment. Adaptations are
traits that developed to perform a certain function and allow organisms to thrive in their
environment. Josephs, M. (n.d.).The passage of certain adaptive traits in an ... Show more content

The beak trait in the Finch is best fitted for the homologous classification.despite the similarities in
the species of the Finch bird, the changes in function of the beaks of the finch clearly show that the

What is convergent and divergent evolution? Describe whether the trait is a result of convergent or
divergent evolution.
According to Convergent evolution. (n.d.).it says this convergent evolution is the process whereby
organisms not closely related (not monophyletic), independently evolve similar traits as a result of
having to adapt to similar environments or ecological niches.
Divergent evolution is the process whereby members of a species become more and more different,

Importance of Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong was the greatest of all Jazz musicians. Armstrong defined what it was to play
Jazz. His amazing technical abilities, the joy and spontaneity, and amazingly quick, inventive
musical mind still dominate Jazz to this day. Only Charlie Parker comes close to having as much
influence on the history of Jazz as Louis Armstrong did. Like almost all early Jazz musicians,
Louis was from New Orleans. He was from a very poor family and was sent to reform school
when he was twelve after firing a gun in the air on New Year s Eve. At the school he learned to
play cornet. After being released at age fourteen, he worked selling papers, unloading boats, and
selling coal from a cart. He didn t own an instrument at this time, ... Show more content on

In 1931 he returned to Chicago and assembled his own band for touring purposes. In June of that
year he returned to New Orleans for the first time since he left in 1922 to join King Oliver s

radio announcer refused to mention Armstrong on the air and a free concert that Louis was
going to give to the cities African American population was cancelled at the last minute. Louis
and Lil also separated in 1931. In 1932 he returned to California, before leaving for England
where he was a great success. For the next three years Armstrong was almost always on the road.
He crisscrossed the U.S. dozens of times and returned to Europe playing in Denmark, Sweden,
Norway, Holland and England. In 1935 he returned to the U.S. and hired Joe Glaser to be his
manager. He had known Glaser when he was the manager of the Sunset Cafe in Chicago in the
1920s. Glaser was allegedly connected to the Al Capone mob, but proved to be a great manager
and friend for Louis. Glaser remained Armstrong s manager until his death in 1969.
Glaser took care of the business end of things, leaving Armstrong free to concentrate on his music.
He also hired the Luis Russell Orchestra as Louis backup band with Russell as the musical
director. This was like going home for Armstrong, because Russell s Orchestra was made up of

The Travel Expense Billing Controversy
Introduction Neal A. Roberts, an employee of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) found out that his
employer was earning millions of dollars a year by way of a billing method that he thought was
doubtful. PwC had been collecting large rebates on airline tickets and other travel expenses being
charged as expenses to clients of the firm. These rebates were not being returned to the firm s
clients in the form of savings, but the firm was keeping these rebates for it. This was working,
because the firm would bill the clients for the full price of airline tickets and other travel related
expense, but privately, the firm negotiated discounts and rebates that they then got at the end of the
year based upon total amounts spent. The clients did not know... Show more content on

The customer s stakes are to get the right service for the money they paid, to get good quality and
to be treated honest and fair. But in this case the customers are not getting the rebates that they
should be rewarded. Furthermore the stakes of the federal government are that the company
PwC can pay the taxes and acts legally and ethically. However, the federal government was not
only lied to about speculations and regulations, but they were also lied to as the customers
themselves. Moreover the stakes of PwC are that they can keep on the market with the other
companies, that their employees are motivated and make a good work, that their company is
creditworthy, so in other words liquidity is given, that they have many customers and good
conditions for suppliers. The stakes of the partners in business are that they want to know how
the competitive company PwC is in the market and how big their market shares are. But the
other businesses are getting tarnished. At last the employee s stakes are to work in a nice
working atmosphere, to get fair wages and also to be treated honest and fair. What is your

Rockstar Logos
Rockstar is a song by Post Malone released in 2017. The song is about how rappers the current
generation of rock stars because of their growing popularity. The song consists of famous rock
star moments in history to show how similar they are to what is happening to rappers currently. I
think the purpose of the song is mostly for entertainment, however I think that there is a hidden
message about how he is starting to go down the road of being a rock star. It is not entirely
pleasant however, because it can be full of drugs and death for certain individuals. The song
Rockstar by Post Malone uses ethos, pathos, and logos as persuasive tools to push the message that

This is logos because it uses historic events. People are persuaded by this because of the idea that
history repeats itself. People are more open to something when they know that is has happened
before, so by using history, he can get people to take him seriously.
It uses ethos because the song mentions famous rock star who the listeners could identify with
if they were fans of them. The line Rest in peace to Bon Scott is a tribute to the lead singer of
ACDC who died of alcohol poisoning. She ask me light a fire like I m Morrison is about Jim
Morrison, who was in the band The Doors, who s most popular song was Light a Fire. It even
brings up a book called I m With the Band by $#$#2$#$#. Which is about the life of a rock band
groupie.
It uses pathos in one of the songs advertising schemes. Hs recording company, Republic Records,
posted a YouTube video of a 3 minute long loop of the chorus instead of the actual song. Since
the chorus was catchy, it leads people to keep listening and look up the actual song. It used the
emotion of a catchy beat to get people curious about the song, kind of like a trailer for a movie.
This combined with the media coverage it received because of it created a lot of views. This lead it
to debut at number 2 and eventually reach number 1 extremely

Washington was the perfect choice for the role of Rubin Carter, putting forward a vision of a
strong willed and unfairly treated man whose life has been littered with injustices. His work as
Rubin Hurricane Carter is on a par with his work as Malcolm X . Washington relishes in his role
as the victimised boxer and puts his all into every scene, easily deserving his award for best
actor. The manner in which Washington plays Rubin Carter makes the audience instantly get
behind him in his fight for freedom simply the way in which he talks about his life in the jail
earns sympathy from the viewers which helps make this film such a hit. A clever addition into
the film by Jewison is the sub plot including a young boy named Lesra, played by Vicellous Reon

Antigone Minor Character Analysis
When one reads Antigone by Sophocles, one often assumes that Ismene is merely a foil to
Antigone. This is because Antigone is daring and dramatic and Ismene is quiet and secretive. By
considering that Ismene is more than just Antigone s foil, one can determine that Ismene plays a
substantial role in Antigone. Although many people see Ismene as a minor character, Ismene is, in
fact, a major character.
Ismene is a major character because of her secretive actions. While it may not seem this way at
first, Ismene does stand up to Creon in her own way. Her sister, Antigone, is notorious for her
dramatic rebellion in which her action results in punishment. Ismene, however, is able to escape
punishment because she secretly rebels against Creon. By using verbal irony, Ismene is able to
appear as if she agrees with Creon when she actually rebels against him. In her conversation with
Antigone, Ismene states:
We are only women;
We cannot fight with men, Antigone!
The law is strong, we must give in to the law
In this thing, and in worse. I beg the dead
To forgive me, but I am helpless: I must yield
To those in authority. (SophoclesPrologue 46 51)
Everyone thinks of Ismene as a supporter of Creon because she does not show that she secretly
rebels against him. Ismene s secretive actions allow her to rebel against Creon while still escaping
punishment.
Ismene is able to get away with her actions because she creates onstage and offstage behaviors
(Kirkpatrick 405). Her onstage

Intellectual Progress Of Mankind By Martin Luther King Jr.
Intellectual Progress of Mankind
Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable...every step toward the goal of justice requires
sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated
individuals Martin Luther King, Jr. Intellectual progress of mankind is the progression towards
discovering the questions about curiosity on why something is what it is or what makes
something work the way that it does. The discovery of which we make on defining, proving, and
supporting scientific and theoretical issues is a reflection of how far we have come on particular
issues of study. this can be defined as changes that take place as a result of growth in the thinking of
mankind resulting from one s capability to think, experience, reasoning judgement and ability to
conceptualize. This helps humankind to progress in different aspects of life and make
advancements on daily basis in relation to his life. Three main subject leads toward Intellectual
Progress of mankind, philosophies, ideologies, and theories which this paper examines as related
themes that often intersect in educational ideas (Gutek, 2004). Philosophy falls somewhere between
the arts and sciences. On the one hand, it offers idiosyncratic worldviews that may be too disparate
to compare. It is not surprising, then, that the question Is philosophy progressive? is hardly ever
raised. From one viewpoint, it offers quirky perspectives that might be excessively unique, making

War I, American society changed greatly. A new era, the Roaring Twenties, found its way in
America along with the arrival of the flappers (Roaring). Americans were introduced to new fashion

In 1919, people began preparing for the ban by buying large amounts of alcohol before the ban
started. Although there was a ban on alcohol, the Volstead Act granted access to making wine as
long as it was obtained from fruit, and legal use of alcohol if there was a prescription
(Prohibition, Rosenberg). People would gather at speakeasies or illegal bars where gangsters
would supply alcohol from the borders of Mexico and Canada (Prohibition, Rosenberg). For
fourteen years, alcohol was illegal, but in 1933 the Amendment was finally repealed (Rosenberg,
Ellis and Esler).
America was already going through a rough patch with the prohibition but it seemed like things
were getting worse. The Scopes Trial brought a lot of attention to Dayton, Tennessee, where
substitute biology teacher, John Scopes, was accused of teaching evolution (Scopes). The Butler
Act was a law prohibiting public school teachers from denying the Biblical account of man s
origin (Scopes). On May 5, 1925, John Scopes was found guilty of teaching evolution and was
given a $1,000 fine. Later, the verdict was overturned (Scopes).
The Jazz Age spread quickly when jazz music was listened to in the speakeasies during the
prohibition (Prohibition). The Jazz Age was a post World War I movement in the 1920 s, from
which jazz music and dance emerged (Jazz). Jazz music could be heard on potter palms. A potter

A Study Of Body Movement, Language And Gestures
Kinesics is the study of body movement, language and gestures. A lot of it is done unconsciously,
meaning unnoticed, by either yourself or by disregarding other s actions. Kinesics are contextual
and situationally determined. This changes how one views the communication or, applies the
information transmitted. Different cultures use their own kinds of kinesics. A lot of differences are
also seen through the relational structures of interactions between content through, subcultures and
micro cultures. Structures that appear through kinesics are; power distance, physical, spacial, and
controlled interaction. Also including gestures like: artifacts, eye movement/behaviour and vocalics
such as speech and sounds acting as nonverbal s. Gestures benefit the receiver and the sender, often
taking the place of words. This type of nonverbal communicationcan be used to convey an
understanding, aid in revealing complex ideas and to get attention. Gestures can be done to show
listening and comprehension, such as a head nod. These can also help to explain, answer or
promote what is being said verbally in a visual way. An example of this would be in a conversation
with someone. The person speaking may gestures money by rubbing their fingers to their thumb, to
highlight the subject of money which is being spoken upon. Another example would be in the
discussion of distance or large size extending hands and arms out from the body, thus emphasizing
the extreme amount being discussed. Paul

Cleopatra is said to be the most beautiful woman in the history of human race, who successfully
ruled the hearts of the most powerful men during her time. One article states, Ever since the age
of women worship and chivalry the Egyptian queen has been one of love s martyrs. She is a good

during the Hellenistic period and was the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. The Ptolemies spoke
Greek throughout their dynasty, and refused to speak Late Egyptian. This is why Greek and
Egyptian were used on the official court document, such as the Rosetta Stone. Cleopatra learned
to speak Egyptian and represented herself as the reincarnation of the Egyptian goddess Isis. The
BBC episode of Cleopatra discusses her time as the Pharaoh of Egypt. It also talks about her
relationships with Julius Caesar and later Mark Antony. In this essay, I will discuss Cleopatra s

The Necessary Use Of Bureaucracy In The United States
When things get done in America most credit goes either to congress, the president, or sometimes
even the courts. While these titles do hold much of the responsibility for change a lot of America s
day to day activities are made possible because of factions of government known as the
bureaucracy. Many citizens associate this with an unnecessary use of big governmenthowever,
Bureaucracyactually means any large, complex organization in which employees have specific job
responsibilities and work within a hierarchy of authority (Janda, et al.). The implementation of
bureaucracy allows for a more efficient work flow. The bureaucratic functions are to aid in the

It has been identified by earlier scholars such as Robert Merton that there are four imperative
traits, which most bureaucrats develop as a result of their work. (Merton; Goodsell 94) One
would be a lack of adaptability in the workforce. This happens due to the fact that each agency is
filled with workers with a specific skill set that would aid them in that job position and make it
hard for their skill to be used in a separate job. The second trait would be that the bureaucrats are
sticklers for the rules. The need for following the rules and guidelines can cause them to loose
sight of the big picture such as the original goal. The third trait would be that due to the fact that
most hold their positions for long periods of time they may become hyper conscious and attached to
it. The Fourth and final trait Merton mentioned in the article would be that the need to follow the
rules causes them to overlook the fact that they are serving another person. Sometimes they lose

A Comparison Of The Taj Mahal And Palace Of Versailles
Ever since man began building structures and settling land, art has manifested itself in our
architectural creations. Whether it be to celebrate or worship a God or Gods, a grand sculpture to
bury a powerful leader or remember them by, or to show a culture s dedication to specific values,
our architectural constructions have led to some of the finest art this Earth has ever seen. The Taj
Mahaland Palace of Versaillesare two great examples of such art. By examining each of these
individually, and then comparing and contrasting them, it will become clear that no matter how
different looking these buildings may be, they still serve the same purpose to the civilizations that
erected them. The first piece of architectural art to look at is the Taj Mahal. It was constructed as a
mausoleum for the wife of Shah Jahans favorite wife after her death following complications of
childbirth (Kapadia, n.d.). It became so famous that its design was even replicated as a casino in
Atlantic City, although that became a mausoleum for the cash of its investors. When someone
looks at the Taj Mahal for the first time, the thing that stands out the most is the use of white marble
in its construction. Almost everything in the Taj Mahal was created with white marble. Next to be
noticed would be both the domes and minarets that make up the monument. These are key tenets of
the Mughal style that was used in building it. So too is the calligraphy that adorns almost all of the

Gender Gap In Pay Essay
The film and television industry is a particularly difficult field for women to advance and be heard
in because of the commercial structure of the industry and its need to draw on significant amounts
of capital to finance projects. It is only by addressing the funding challenge that this gender gap
can be closed. To illustrate this, this paper will look at the data from several studies to confirm the
existence of the gendergap, analyze the potential causes with particular focus on how the levels of
capital required and the drive for a return of profit on that capital create the significant barrier, and
propose what is the most effective means of remedying the problem.
Generally, women creators and women s perspectives in the creative arts ... Show more content on

Why are women creators and women s perspectives so under represented in film and television?
Based on the date and analysis in these reports it appears that there are institutional impediments
related to the difficulties of acquiring both the progressive experience in the industry and the
necessary funding for film and television projects that are significant obstacles to women
creators in film. The studies indicate that there is near parity between the genders at the student
level. So the barriers are clearly more significant at a later career stage. Key occupations that are
gateways to directing, including editors, cinematographers and first assistant directors, are
themselves male dominated (Coles 2). To progress into the director s chair, most candidates need
to work their way up through progressive roles such as A.D. or cinematographer. But the barriers
to women appear to be nearly as significant for those positions as they are for the position of
director ( Gender Inequality in Film ). So although this paper focuses on women as directors, many
of the same observations could be made about women as cinematographers, assistant directors and
producers. Women are denied the key roles and thus the normal path to becoming

Government Intervention In Canada
Canada has always been there to help people who need it. Justin Trudeau A mixed economy
means that one part of the entire economy is being controlled and run by a certain country s
government, while the other half is left to the free market. Most economies of the countries all
over the world are mixed, and they only differ in terms of intervention by the state. This system
usually begins by authorizing private enterprises to run the majority of businesses before the
government intervenes with specific areas of economics, such as inflation protection and taxes.
Today, Canada and the US have different economic systems that are supposed to show what each

One reason might be with a mixed economy, it allows private participation which in return allows
a healthy competition and that results in profit. It also contributes to public ownership in
manufacturing which also contributed to welfare needs. This, however, can be viewed as too
much government involvement by not always allowing the consumer to decide what s best by
making the choice for what is needed. Yet the system is able to improve the quality of life for
people who have struggles in wealth. This is what keeps our society going. The system may be a
little strenuous for some people to pay but it is for the better of society. Another argument can be
the amount of control in a mixed system. Viewing the government as adding an excessive amount
of boundaries upon certain laws or regulations may seem restricting, but it is what stops something
like a market economy or any economy from tipping into anarchy. I see the drawbacks of this
mixed system, despite that, the positives of the mixed system outweighs such drawbacks.
Additionally, these drawbacks are forever in place to assure the safety of the public

extent people have learned how to manipulate electromagnetic waves at will. For the purpose of
this paper, I have done a very extensive research looking for remarkable improvements that

each major breakthrough, on the body of this research. Wireless Technology has become a very
important part of our daily lives as individual users, groups, or even businesses since radio waves
were discovered, and we learned how to manipulate it to some extent. It isn t odd to see a device
which doesn t depend of a cable to receive/transmit a signal or radio waves nowadays. We often
see people using smartphones, laptops without requiring any external connection to the LAN, or
even our own radios. All of these wouldn t be possible without the existence of Wireless
Technology. But, has there really been a whole deal of improvements on this type of technology?

Compare And Contrast The Renaissance Art And European Art
Compare and Contrast Essay
Compare and Contrast works of art that represent the 15th Century Early Renaissance art and 16th
Century Northern European art. The artists Masaccio and Grunewald will be used to illustrate the
differences and similarities in the styles of art. Their works of art are chosen for their interpretation
of the style that was representative during these eras. Early Renaissance artists used mathematical
one point linear perspective to create illusions of depth and depicted the human body as realistic
and natural. Northern European artist used medieval mysticism and intense emotional spirituality
and they used illustrative human figures rather than realistic depictions. By understanding the
corresponding and distinctions between these two works of art we can understand why they created
their artwork in the respective style to their era.
The first work of art is a fresco titled Trinity with the Virgin Mary, John the Evangelist, and the
Donors (Holy Trinity) by artist Masaccio during the Early Renaissance c. 1425
1427/1428. The fresco is located on the wall of the Church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence,
Italy. Brunelleschi s experiments on linear perspective and architecture had an influence on
Masaccio s art.
The second work of art is an oil painting on wood panel titled Isenheim Altarpiece by artist
Grunewald in c. 1510 1515. It was located in the chapel of the St. Anthony abbey hospital near
Colmar, Germany. The hospital treated patients with

The War And The Reality Of War
The attitudes to war and the reality of war are presented and developed in the play, Henry V and a
selection of WW1 poems in a variety of ways. Parts of the play can be linked in with WW1 poems
such as The Soldier by Rupert Brooke, Who s for the Game by Jessie Pope, Suicide in the Trenches
by Siegfried Sassoon and Dulce Et Decorum Estby Wilfred Owen. The Henry V play is set in
England in the early fifteenth century. The political situation in England is tense: King Henry IV
has died, and his son, the young King Henry V, has just assumed the throne. Henry lays claim to
certain parts of France, based on his distant roots in the French royal family. However, the
Dauphin of France insults King Henry by sending tennis balls in response to these claims, which
shows us that he is trying to imply that King Henry cannot be serious, and that he is immature and
childish like he was before he became the King of England. Nonetheless, Henry gives a fitting
reply and decides to invade France.
In Henry V, a positive attitude to war is presented with patriotism, honour and glory which can be
linked with The Soldier poem written by Rupert Brooke. In the play, King Henry delivers many
speeches as he understands the power of his words to draw out action. His speeches are meant to
stir soldiers morale and offer motivation, inspiration and encouragement to the soldiers. King
Henry uses his charisma as an effective tool; as for Henry, the act of speech and rhetoric is a

The Effects Of Coal Ash On The Health Of Water Systems
Introduction Coal ash is a byproduct of burning coal in power plants and is composed mainly of
aluminum and silicon oxides. This ash is commonly stored away in dump sites, only to leach out
solutions of concentrated toxic heavy metals. Such issues are detrimental to the health of water
systems, posing both a human and environmental health risk. However, there are solutions to this
problem. Coalash possesses unique chemical properties that allow for the remediation of other
environmental concerns, such as the treatment of soil polluted with heavy metals, the removal of
nutrients from wastewater, and the remediation of acid mine drainage in streams. Coal ash is
known to contain a number of different toxic metals, the exact content dependent upon the coal it is
formed from. Containing this potential pollution hazard is an expensive problem, as approximately
75% of all ash generated is stored in landfills. In these sites, rainwater can leach out toxic metals
including mercury, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, molybdenum, lead and selenium. As over 500
million tons of ash are produced each year, there s an increasing environmental health hazard to the
surrounding water systems of these landfills. Pollution can spread to municipal water systems and
potentially poison humans. As such, figuring out a better solution to deal with the unused coal ash
is of significant importance. Current uses of coal ash primarily include the formation of concrete

Climate Change And Global Warming
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1General
Climate change and global warming has been warned to no longer be viewed lightly. These changes
are considered to be one of the biggest threats that being faced by nature and humanity today.
According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), climate
change can be defined as the changes of climate which is attributed either directly or indirectly
towards human activities which also able to change the composition of the global atmosphere. As
an addition to this matter, the natural climate changes seemed to change over comparable period of
time.
Generally, Malaysia might be one of the lucky countries that do not experience extensive damages
due to extreme climate changes. However, mild climate related disasters are quite frequent to
happen lately. These refer to occurrence of landslides due to excessive rainfall and strong winds
happened at the hilly and the latter, at the coastal areas causing severe damage (MET, 2010).
Environmentally, climate change in Malaysia means increase in total heavy rain falls, rising mean
sea level and possibly extreme weather. Extreme weather can be fierce and destructive. According to
the fifth Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, if greenhouse gas emissions
are reduced significantly, the rise in global temperature will be about 2Вє C towards the end of
century. However, if no action should be taken due to this matter, the temperature might increase up

Tyco Merger
What is your opinion of a merger? If you say and think a merger is a bad thing then you are not
alone. Recently, mergers were given a big thumbs down in a poll given to Americans and
Canadians. The definition of a merger is a combination of two or more businesses to form a single
firm. The cons of mergers greatly outnumber the pros because as companiesget larger and larger,
people lose jobs, monopoliesform, and consumers pay higher prices, resulting in a less competitive
and, therefore, less opportune business market.
Is bigger really better? Big might be sometimes better, but companies, corporations and monopolies
can get too big. Some merged companies become so huge that they lose focus, gain overhead and
increase their expenses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then we have Tyco International Ltd. that merged with Binge/Purge. Such a shame that Tyco s
newest acquisition had questions of fraud, people undermining decisions, and bad accounting
practices. My last example is that of AutoNation. AutoNation is a company recently formed that
deals with pre owned or used cars. It has shut down 23 of its mega stores, and laid off 1,800
employees just because they overproduced the unwanted plain vanilla models of cars . The
company was obviously losing sight of something important, the demand for that color of car.
Big corporations are less than perfect. As a business gets bigger, the more cons may surface from
day to day business operations. As the company gets bigger, one find oneself having to manage
unrelated businesses, losing strategic focus, dealing with agency costs, administrative costs,
having unbalanced capacities, and ultimately one has a lack of control. Big companies treat
consumers different by than those of a small, competitive business. Big companies try to take
over and exploit the economy of the host nation by paying low wages to workers, by exporting
scarce resources, or by adversely interfering with the development of local business. It just seems
that the greater mass achieved by the company the more it loses sight of what is important. Another
big problem with big companies is that they are so large and wealthy, they may influence the
political life of a host nation. As

through tone, structure, fallacies and knowledge of the congregation that became his audience.
Henry s piece uses methods of oratory persuasion but the actual topic of Sinners in the Hands of an

Inequality in British Schools
Is there a problem of Inequality in British schools?
The educational system is one of the most influential institutions in society as it provides young
people with a vast amount of knowledge, attitudes and skills. These are acquired formally through
set lessons or informally through the hidden curriculum which provides the unofficial and
unplanned consequences of school experience. Social Inequality is one of the major preoccupations
of sociology. The relationship between inequality and education has been studied for many years.
Although it seems obvious that educational success is simply down to an individual s capabilities
and motivation, sociological research shows that the inequalities in social class, gender and race and

On the other hand if the teacher labels a pupil as un co operative or from a poor background, this
can cause low self esteem and the pupil will be likely to fail to achieve much success.
The Neo Marxist s perspective on class stratification in Britain claims that schools create a false
class consciousness so it seems that they promote equal opportunities for all, but they really
reproduce a capitalist division of labour, preparing young people for class determined careers in the
labour market.
Willis (1977) accepts the Marxist s view on education being closely linked to the needs of the
capitalist s system; however he does not agree with the idea of there being a direct link between
education and the economy. (Macionis. J, Plummer.K, 2008)
His study found that poorer children often grow up in environments where people see little hope of
upward social mobility and rebel against the system rather than trying to conform with in. In such
an environment adults often discourage rather than encourage success at school. (Macionis. J,
Plummer.K, 2008)
Social class is not the only inequality in Britain s schooling. Sociologists have also found a link
between gender and academic success. Until the late 1980 s there was high concern about the
underachievement of girls. Societies had been structured to consider schooling more important for
males than for females. Although the gap in gender

How Did Achilles Get An Arrow In The Odyssey
After Hector s death, Achilles knew his death was soon.
Prince Memnon of Ethiopia came to the Trojans aid.
Even though Hector was gone, the Greeks had lost many warriors.

IMPLEMENTING ALTERNATE TECHNOLOGIES TO IMPROVE THE POWER HANDLING
CAPACITY OF ALL Si MEMS PHASE SHIFTERS
Abstract: This proposal paper analyze and suggest the alternate methods to reduce the heat
dissipation and power consumption of MEMS phase shifters while they are being used in the real
time environment i.e., in a closed loop operation. So many advancements in the MEMS technology
make the MEMS production very effective, but still there are some drawbacks in its structure and
in its performance, which pulls the system efficiency to down. Self and mutual inductions are the
two major run time defects which affects the performances of the MEMS devices and increases its
power consumption when there is a physical data link between two blocks. If the proper steps are
taken then, the measurement results can range up to 40dBm at 75 GHz or even more. Hence by
using alternate methods for the communication between the two blocks using PIC 16f778
controller we can reduce the temperature rise in all Si phase shifters, which is 20 30 times lesser
than the conventional MEMS phase shifters. Also by implementing this idea we can reduce the
fabrication cost and we can make a great revolution in the field of embedded systems.
Key terms: Microwave, phase shifters, optic fiber, radio frequency micro electro mechanical
systems.

Country Music Has Gone Through Many Phases Of Different...
Country music has gone through many phases of different musical styles including the honky tonk
style and more modern pop country style. More recently, mainstream country has continued to
define itself through bringing all these different styles together and relying on each of them. This
genre of music faces issues relating to its original classification as being working class music ,
being in opposition to homosexuality and its portrayal and absence of women. Often times I have
heard people say that they prefer all genres of music, except country. Growing up I always listened
to country musicdue to the fact that my mom and our family friends often listen to it, therefore I
never understood why it unveiled such a negative reaction for most people. Oftentimes I find
myself excluding my enjoyment of country music to others simply to avoid their surprised
reactions. While I realize how people may be closed off to country music because of the labels
that have been imposed upon it in common discourse and media, I often would like to point out
that modern country music that is played on the radio today is often very different from more
traditional country music played many years ago, and is not that much different from pop and rock
sounds. These issues of class divide, homosexuality and the role of women must be looked upon in
relation to contemporary country music, which can be considered a more relevant discussion. From
country music s roots stemming from Folk and Blues

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nitroxyl Radicals
Nitroxyl radicals, which belong to the six membered piperidine (TEMPO) or the five membered

nitroxide group makes these compounds very stable. They are less toxic, and even serve as spin

used as spin probes for low frequency in vivo electron spin resonance imaging (ESRI). In ESRI,
the spatial as well as the spectral information of the exogenously administered spin probes is

recently on tumor bearing mice [8]. Furthermore the involvement of a free radical is favorable to
molecular imaging since the free electron is very sensitive to various changes in its environment:

Eating Disorders Essay
Eating Disorders Eating disorders are sweeping this country and are rampant on junior high,
high school, and college campuses. These disorders are often referred to as the Deadly Diet, but
are often known by their more popular names: anorexia or bulimia. They affect more than 20%
of females between the age of thirteen and forty. It is very rare for a young female not to know
of someone with an eating disorder. Statistics show that at least one in five young women have a
serious problem with eating and weight (Bruch, 25). The Deadly Diet appears to be a mostly
female problem. Eating disorders are most common in the middle to upper middle class families.
Currently, the incidence is much lower in females from the blue collar ... Show more content on

The regular dieter is in control of the diet. The Deadly Dieter is controlled by the diet. There are
five basic types of Deadly Dieter. Although there are probably as many variations of these basic
types as there are people in the world, all eating disorders fall into one of the Deadly Diets.
Fasting. This type of Deadly Dieter will often try to exist on only 500 calories per day, even
though most nutritionists claim that a starvation diet is no lower than about 1200 calories a
day. This person can get so upset over any extra calories that they begin to see calories where
there are virtually none. For example, some Deadly Dieters are afraid to chew one piece of gum
for fear they would take in too many calories. Binging. People who just binge, and consequently
are obese, can also be called Deadly Dieters. They, too, are out of control. Their diet is constantly
on their minds. It begins to kill them (not only in terms of their health, but socially and
personally). Binging Purging. These people often begin their Deadly Diet as fasters. They soon
learn that fasting also cuts them off from most social functions. In our society it is rare when
people get together and don t have some type of food available. The solution to being thin and yet
being able to eat is to get rid of the food they have eaten. The most common form of purging is
vomiting. A much less common method is the overuse of laxatives. Fasting Purging. This form of

Dark Energy Research Paper
UNIVERSE
The universe might have enough energy density to stop its expansion and re collapse, but it might
have so little energy density that it would never stop expanding scientist from NASA What is the
Universe made up of?
The universe is suspected to be made out of 3 substances. The first substance is Normal Matter,
which consist of the atoms that make up stars, planets and almost everything alive whether it be
abiotic or biotic and every other visible thing in the universe. Normal matter even though it sounds
like it makes up almost the entire universe surprisingly it accounts for the smallest portion of the
universe, which is somewhere between 1% and 5%. Since there is more unknown than known of
Dark Energy it is difficult to know exactly ho much of the universe is Dark Energy. Henceforth
scientist have theorized that roughly 68% of the Universe is Dark Energy. And scientist at NASA
have concluded that Dark Matter makes up about 27% of the Universe. What is Dark Energy? You
can go to this site and read what is Dark Energy or you can read the summary of what it could be.

Argumentative Essay On Fine Arts
Schools that offer fine arts classes have lower dropout rates and raised attendance. The fine arts
positively impact students of lower socioeconomic status more those of a higher status. The fine
arts have no barriers for race, religion, and culture when it comes to being involved in the arts.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to be involved (Katy Independent School District). Without
the artsthese students have no outlet for creative capabilities and no way to express their talents.
Students who need this way of expressing themselves are overlooked and they are the ones who
need it the most (Dickson). When viewing the participation of arts in the eyes of a ten year old, It
cools kids down after all the other hard stuff they have to think about (Arts and Smarts: Test Scores
and Cognitive Development). The artsengage students who may not be engaged in other classes.
The YouthARTS Development Project and the National Endowment for the Arts and the United
States Justice Department engaged in at risk youth in art programs showed that the participants
had an increased ability to work with others and were able to finish tasks, had better attitudes
towards school, had fewer court referrals, and had an improved self esteem (Arts and Smarts: Test

struggling to meet demands of academic curriculums. Many of the schools who cut or reduced their

An Article That Helped Break Down Phonemes And I Found The...
Throughout the past semester, I ve gained a lot of experience when it comes to teaching. I ve
learned more than I ever knew before and am gaining more experience in the actual field instead of
babysitting at after school programs. That being said, while watching not only my mentee but the
other mentees at Kids Count I ve come to realize the two biggest things they struggled at is reading
and mathematics. Most students there struggle reading in general but they also struggle in
pronouncing words. I sought to find an article that helped break down phonemes and I found the
Blending Wheelarticle. What drew me to this specific article was the fact that this was a specific
activity (a pretty cool one in fact), instead of instruction help. For the other article, most students
there also struggle with the basics of mathematics, so I wanted to find an article that helped
students learn mathematics in a fun way. I liked the shared story article because it brought
together something that most people don t think of: reading and mathematics. It s great for us to
realize as instructors that everything is related and can be used in conjunction with another. The
first article, Blending Wheels: Tools for Decoding Practice, focuses on a tool, the blending wheel,
which will help struggling readers of all ages practice blending sounds. A blending wheel consists
of three concentric circles with a brass fastener. Each circle has letters on it that when spun, are
combined to form words. The

still angered by having to be in the same tent as Zhao, Khai Li sitting next to him on his left trying
to give him some sort of comfort for this situation, while Iroh was to the right side of the tent
looking at the various spear like weapons Zhao had collected.
And by years end, the earth kingdom capital will be under our rule. Zhao concluded, turning to

No, we haven t found a thing. Khai Li replied quickly almost stuttering, trying to avoid Zhao s gaze

Prince Zuko, the avatar is the only one that can stop the fire nation from winning this war, Zhao
informed, getting up from his chair where he had been sitting and walking closer to Zuko, getting

The Poem †Mother To Son’ By Langston Hughes First
Published
The poem Mother to Son by Langston Hughes first published in 1922 and The Road not Taken
by Robert Frost have a number of similarities. These poems are parables in which experienced
people give advice about life choices. In both poems, the personas were initially in some trouble
in life but they currently have no remorse for the way they made choices and lived. Also, both
poems have a moral lesson that life may not always be easy but at the end, the choices that people
make will determine their destiny. However, the poems are considerably different in their writing
style, diction, the point of view, tone and imagery. This essay aims to compare and contrast the two
poems. Though having similarities in the theme and use of symbolism and... Show more content on

He, however, chose the road that was less favorable to people. This road represents a road of hard
work or integrity since majority of people love short cuts to life. In the end, the speaker is not
only relieved but also proud that he took that road. He says I shall be telling this with a sigh
(Frost 16). The reason for him telling the story is to give advice because he is proud of the
decision that he made.
Also, Hughes and Frost both use symbolism and imagery to bring out the picture about life. For
Hughes, the stairs symbolize the life life that has been lived through pressing on because of the
difficulties and uncertainties involved. The mother symbolizes the old generation of people who
are experienced and their role in giving advice. The old generation is familiar with life challenges
that the younger generation, symbolized by the son, are undergoing. They provide hope for the
young generation. The dark corners without light symbolize times of uncertainties, the corner
symbolizes changes experienced in life, and the climbing symbolizes difficult situations requiring
extra effort and so on. Reading through the poem a person can easily picture the life that the
speaker lived.
Conversely, Frost also uses symbolism in his poem. The divergent roads that emerge as the
persona is traveling symbolize a dilemma in life. The persona needed to make a tough choice in life
for it was impossible to live a double life.

It is usually not surprising when political figures are stripped down by the media because they had

these candidates have less of a chance to be elected because the majority of the social media tends
to highlight the damaging information.
Essays Programming Languages
Programming languages are a set of instructions or grammatical rules, which are used to make
applications and software on computers (Beal). There are many programming languages, which are
used extensively in modern day computer science, some of which are C++, Python, HTML,
FORTRAN, Ruby and Pascal. They were initially created by computer scientists to simplify
calculations and to perform repetitive tasks with ease. These languages are one of the core
components of a computer and they facilitate the creation and functioning of complicated
applications and softwares. Figure 1 Components of a computer (Source: Anthony)

requires an assembler to translate it machine code ( Assembly ). Such languages were tedious to use
but were much simpler than the new, more sophisticated languages. Fortran was the first high level

Racial Discrimination And Diversity In Division I Football
Over the years, the United States has been considered a melting pot of nationalities and
ethnicities, but from the beginning, the white race has perceived themselves as a superior race,
enforcing their power over other races through slavery and racial segregation. Today, we believe
that the United States has made leaps and bounds toward total racial equality. We see evidence of
this in the workplace, schools, and athletics, but there are still some problems that need to be
addressed. Therefore, I am writing to you to inform you as NCAA president of the standing of the
NCAA and its diversity of head coaches in Division Ifootball. This memo seeks to explore the idea
that minorities are not fairly represented or retained in Collegiate level head coaching positions. I
will demonstrate this by showing racial demographics, head coach position retention, assistant
coach to head coach retention studies, football position correlation to coaching positions, and social
aspects.
Racial Demographics
The NCAA has made noticeable progress toward racial equality in the ratio of black to white
players in Division I football. In 2008, black athletes only made up about 36 percent of the
student athlete population in Division I football, while in the 2017 season, 39 percent of football
players are black (NCAA). If you do not include historically black colleges and universities, you see
that blacks take over whites from 46 percent on 2008 to 52 percent in 2017. All demographic data

Obedience and Disobedience in A Few Good Man
In the heart of nation s capital, in a courthouse of the U.S government, one man will stop at
nothing to keep his honor, and one will stop at nothing to find the truth. This tagline helps to
sum up the tone of the film A Few Good Men. Two soldiers caught in the middle of right and
wrong will keep there hope and loyalty high as they wish for the best. Will the instigator of it all
be pressured through his own anger to reveal the truth? Rob Reiner presents Col. Nathan R.

The author exemplifies the ways that disobedience helps the society and its contribution to
furthering the human race but notes on the fact that blind obedience may eventually account for
the end of civilization. A private office meeting is ordered by Col. Jessep between him, Lt.
Jonathan Kendrick, and Lt. Col. Matthew Andrew Markinson to discuss the Santiago situation.
After a few brief words among the three, Jessep makes his authority known by ordering Kendrick
to train Santiago, while threatening to kill him if Santiago is not well prepared. With Markinson
having noticeable doubts about Jessep s command, the colonel orders a private meeting alone with
Markinson. By starting the conversation off soberly, Jessep asks Markinson what he thinks of
Kendrick. Markinson replies by saying his opinion does not account for much. Jessep then
proceeds to explain his reasoning for having Santiago stay on the base. With a self conceited tone,
Jessep begins reminiscing on his and Markinson s life together, and ends the conversation on a
selfish note, saying that he had been more successful than Markinson and that any feeling of
tension and embarrassment had no importance to him. Jessep shows his true malevolence in this
scene, while directing it towards Markinson and Kendrick. Milgram confers his opinion on the
presence of authority when he says, The experimenter s physical presence has marked impact on his

The Effects Of Media On Child Sexual Abuse

This research will assess the role of the media related to child sexual abuse and argues that the

Free speech is commonly assumed to be speech unrestricted by regulation, nevertheless legislators
may also enact legislation to protect the implicit right to free speech. This is presented in the
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights article 19 section 1, stating everyone shall

  • 4. Importance of Louis Armstrong Louis Armstrong Louis Armstrong was the greatest of all Jazz musicians. Armstrong defined what it was to play Jazz. His amazing technical abilities, the joy and spontaneity, and amazingly quick, inventive musical mind still dominate Jazz to this day. Only Charlie Parker comes close to having as much influence on the history of Jazz as Louis Armstrong did. Like almost all early Jazz musicians, Louis was from New Orleans. He was from a very poor family and was sent to reform school when he was twelve after firing a gun in the air on New Year s Eve. At the school he learned to play cornet. After being released at age fourteen, he worked selling papers, unloading boats, and selling coal from a cart. He didn t own an instrument at this time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1931 he returned to Chicago and assembled his own band for touring purposes. In June of that year he returned to New Orleans for the first time since he left in 1922 to join King Oliver s Creole Jazz Band. Armstrong was greeted as a hero, but racism marred his return when a White radio announcer refused to mention Armstrong on the air and a free concert that Louis was going to give to the cities African American population was cancelled at the last minute. Louis and Lil also separated in 1931. In 1932 he returned to California, before leaving for England where he was a great success. For the next three years Armstrong was almost always on the road. He crisscrossed the U.S. dozens of times and returned to Europe playing in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Holland and England. In 1935 he returned to the U.S. and hired Joe Glaser to be his manager. He had known Glaser when he was the manager of the Sunset Cafe in Chicago in the 1920s. Glaser was allegedly connected to the Al Capone mob, but proved to be a great manager and friend for Louis. Glaser remained Armstrong s manager until his death in 1969. Glaser took care of the business end of things, leaving Armstrong free to concentrate on his music. He also hired the Luis Russell Orchestra as Louis backup band with Russell as the musical director. This was like going home for Armstrong, because Russell s Orchestra was made up of ... • 5. The Travel Expense Billing Controversy Introduction Neal A. Roberts, an employee of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) found out that his employer was earning millions of dollars a year by way of a billing method that he thought was doubtful. PwC had been collecting large rebates on airline tickets and other travel expenses being charged as expenses to clients of the firm. These rebates were not being returned to the firm s clients in the form of savings, but the firm was keeping these rebates for it. This was working, because the firm would bill the clients for the full price of airline tickets and other travel related expense, but privately, the firm negotiated discounts and rebates that they then got at the end of the year based upon total amounts spent. The clients did not know... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The customer s stakes are to get the right service for the money they paid, to get good quality and to be treated honest and fair. But in this case the customers are not getting the rebates that they should be rewarded. Furthermore the stakes of the federal government are that the company PwC can pay the taxes and acts legally and ethically. However, the federal government was not only lied to about speculations and regulations, but they were also lied to as the customers themselves. Moreover the stakes of PwC are that they can keep on the market with the other companies, that their employees are motivated and make a good work, that their company is creditworthy, so in other words liquidity is given, that they have many customers and good conditions for suppliers. The stakes of the partners in business are that they want to know how the competitive company PwC is in the market and how big their market shares are. But the other businesses are getting tarnished. At last the employee s stakes are to work in a nice working atmosphere, to get fair wages and also to be treated honest and fair. The song consists of famous rock star moments in history to show how similar they are to what is happening to rappers currently. I think the purpose of the song is mostly for entertainment, however I think that there is a hidden message about how he is starting to go down the road of being a rock star. It is not entirely pleasant however, because it can be full of drugs and death for certain individuals. The song Rockstar by Post Malone uses ethos, pathos, and logos as persuasive tools to push the message that rappers are the new rock stars of this generation and it is not entirely pleasant.... Since the chorus was catchy, it leads people to keep listening and look up the actual song. • 10. Antigone Minor Character Analysis When one reads Antigone by Sophocles, one often assumes that Ismene is merely a foil to Antigone. This is because Antigone is daring and dramatic and Ismene is quiet and secretive. By considering that Ismene is more than just Antigone s foil, one can determine that Ismene plays a substantial role in Antigone. Although many people see Ismene as a minor character, Ismene is, in fact, a major character. Ismene is a major character because of her secretive actions. While it may not seem this way at first, Ismene does stand up to Creon in her own way. Her sister, Antigone, is notorious for her dramatic rebellion in which her action results in punishment. Ismene, however, is able to escape punishment because she secretly rebels against Creon. By using verbal irony, Ismene is able to appear as if she agrees with Creon when she actually rebels against him. In her conversation with Antigone, Ismene states: We are only women; We cannot fight with men, Antigone! The law is strong, we must give in to the law In this thing, and in worse. I beg the dead To forgive me, but I am helpless: I must yield To those in authority. (SophoclesPrologue 46 51) Everyone thinks of Ismene as a supporter of Creon because she does not show that she secretly rebels against him. Ismene s secretive actions allow her to rebel against Creon while still escaping punishment. Ismene is able to get away with her actions because she creates onstage and offstage behaviors (Kirkpatrick 405). Her onstage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intellectual Progress Of Mankind By Martin Luther King Jr. Intellectual Progress of Mankind Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable...every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals Martin Luther King, Jr. Intellectual progress of mankind is the progression towards discovering the questions about curiosity on why something is what it is or what makes something work the way that it does. The discovery of which we make on defining, proving, and supporting scientific and theoretical issues is a reflection of how far we have come on particular issues of study. this can be defined as changes that take place as a result of growth in the thinking of mankind resulting from one s capability to think, experience, reasoning judgement and ability to conceptualize. This helps humankind to progress in different aspects of life and make advancements on daily basis in relation to his life. Three main subject leads toward Intellectual Progress of mankind, philosophies, ideologies, and theories which this paper examines as related themes that often intersect in educational ideas (Gutek, 2004). Philosophy falls somewhere between the arts and sciences. On the one hand, it offers idiosyncratic worldviews that may be too disparate to compare. It is not surprising, then, that the question Is philosophy progressive? is hardly ever raised. From one viewpoint, it offers quirky perspectives that might be excessively unique, making ... • 12. Roaring Twenties in American Society After World War I. Essay World War I lasted from 1914 1918, but America did not become involved until 1917. After World War I, American society changed greatly. A new era, the Roaring Twenties, found its way in America along with the arrival of the flappers (Roaring). Americans were introduced to new fashion styles, the prohibition and the JazzAge (Fashion, Jazz). Controversy proved to be very prominent with the Scopes Trial (Scopes). As the war came to a close, the Roaring Twenties made its way into America. This time period brought many changes that were new to Americans. Although there was a ban on alcohol, the Volstead Act granted access to making wine as long as it was obtained from fruit, and legal use of alcohol if there was a prescription (Prohibition, Rosenberg). People would gather at speakeasies or illegal bars where gangsters would supply alcohol from the borders of Mexico and Canada (Prohibition, Rosenberg). For fourteen years, alcohol was illegal, but in 1933 the Amendment was finally repealed (Rosenberg, Ellis and Esler). America was already going through a rough patch with the prohibition but it seemed like things were getting worse. The Scopes Trial brought a lot of attention to Dayton, Tennessee, where substitute biology teacher, John Scopes, was accused of teaching evolution (Scopes). The Butler Act was a law prohibiting public school teachers from denying the Biblical account of man s origin (Scopes). On May 5, 1925, John Scopes was found guilty of teaching evolution and was given a $1,000 fine. Later, the verdict was overturned (Scopes). A lot of it is done unconsciously, meaning unnoticed, by either yourself or by disregarding other s actions. Kinesics are contextual and situationally determined. This changes how one views the communication or, applies the information transmitted. Different cultures use their own kinds of kinesics. A lot of differences are also seen through the relational structures of interactions between content through, subcultures and micro cultures. Structures that appear through kinesics are; power distance, physical, spacial, and controlled interaction. Gestures benefit the receiver and the sender, often taking the place of words. This type of nonverbal communicationcan be used to convey an understanding, aid in revealing complex ideas and to get attention. Gestures can be done to show listening and comprehension, such as a head nod. These can also help to explain, answer or promote what is being said verbally in a visual way. An example of this would be in a conversation with someone. The person speaking may gestures money by rubbing their fingers to their thumb, to highlight the subject of money which is being spoken upon. Being all save dull and stupid that a loving woman ought not to have been, having loved and been loved until death. That was the medieval cardinal virtue; without in holy writ, it was the saving grace (Stole). She was a member of the Ptolemaic dynasty, a Greek family of Macedonia origin. She ruled Egypt after Alexander the Great s death during the Hellenistic period and was the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. The Ptolemies spoke Greek throughout their dynasty, and refused to speak Late Egyptian. This is why Greek and Egyptian were used on the official court document, such as the Rosetta Stone. Cleopatra learned to speak Egyptian and represented herself as the reincarnation of the Egyptian goddess Isis. The BBC episode of Cleopatra discusses her time as the Pharaoh of Egypt. It also talks about her relationships with Julius Caesar and later Mark Antony. In this essay, I will discuss Cleopatra s early life, her complications with her brother and being the last Egyptian Pharaoh as well as the roles of Julius Caesar and Mark Antony during her ruling, and her death. Many citizens associate this with an unnecessary use of big governmenthowever, Bureaucracyactually means any large, complex organization in which employees have specific job responsibilities and work within a hierarchy of authority (Janda, et al.). It has been identified by earlier scholars such as Robert Merton that there are four imperative traits, which most bureaucrats develop as a result of their work. (Merton; Goodsell 94) One would be a lack of adaptability in the workforce. This happens due to the fact that each agency is filled with workers with a specific skill set that would aid them in that job position and make it hard for their skill to be used in a separate job. The second trait would be that the bureaucrats are sticklers for the rules. The need for following the rules and guidelines can cause them to loose sight of the big picture such as the original goal. The third trait would be that due to the fact that most hold their positions for long periods of time they may become hyper conscious and attached to it. The Fourth and final trait Merton mentioned in the article would be that the need to follow the rules causes them to overlook the fact that they are serving another person. • 18. A Comparison Of The Taj Mahal And Palace Of Versailles Ever since man began building structures and settling land, art has manifested itself in our architectural creations. Whether it be to celebrate or worship a God or Gods, a grand sculpture to bury a powerful leader or remember them by, or to show a culture s dedication to specific values, our architectural constructions have led to some of the finest art this Earth has ever seen. The Taj Mahaland Palace of Versaillesare two great examples of such art. By examining each of these individually, and then comparing and contrasting them, it will become clear that no matter how different looking these buildings may be, they still serve the same purpose to the civilizations that erected them. The first piece of architectural art to look at is the Taj Mahal. It was constructed as a mausoleum for the wife of Shah Jahans favorite wife after her death following complications of childbirth (Kapadia, n.d.). It became so famous that its design was even replicated as a casino in Atlantic City, although that became a mausoleum for the cash of its investors. When someone looks at the Taj Mahal for the first time, the thing that stands out the most is the use of white marble in its construction. Almost everything in the Taj Mahal was created with white marble. Next to be noticed would be both the domes and minarets that make up the monument. These are key tenets of the Mughal style that was used in building it. So too is the calligraphy that adorns almost all of the gateways and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Gender Gap In Pay Essay The film and television industry is a particularly difficult field for women to advance and be heard in because of the commercial structure of the industry and its need to draw on significant amounts of capital to finance projects. It is only by addressing the funding challenge that this gender gap can be closed. To illustrate this, this paper will look at the data from several studies to confirm the existence of the gendergap, analyze the potential causes with particular focus on how the levels of capital required and the drive for a return of profit on that capital create the significant barrier, and propose what is the most effective means of remedying the problem. Generally, women creators and women s perspectives in the creative arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why are women creators and women s perspectives so under represented in film and television? Based on the date and analysis in these reports it appears that there are institutional impediments related to the difficulties of acquiring both the progressive experience in the industry and the necessary funding for film and television projects that are significant obstacles to women creators in film. The studies indicate that there is near parity between the genders at the student level. So the barriers are clearly more significant at a later career stage. Key occupations that are gateways to directing, including editors, cinematographers and first assistant directors, are themselves male dominated (Coles 2). To progress into the director s chair, most candidates need to work their way up through progressive roles such as A.D. or cinematographer. But the barriers to women appear to be nearly as significant for those positions as they are for the position of director ( Gender Inequality in Film ). So although this paper focuses on women as directors, many of the same observations could be made about women as cinematographers, assistant directors and producers. Women are denied the key roles and thus the normal path to becoming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast The Renaissance Art And European Art Compare and Contrast Essay Compare and Contrast works of art that represent the 15th Century Early Renaissance art and 16th Century Northern European art. The artists Masaccio and Grunewald will be used to illustrate the differences and similarities in the styles of art. Their works of art are chosen for their interpretation of the style that was representative during these eras. Early Renaissance artists used mathematical one point linear perspective to create illusions of depth and depicted the human body as realistic and natural. Northern European artist used medieval mysticism and intense emotional spirituality and they used illustrative human figures rather than realistic depictions. By understanding the corresponding and distinctions between these two works of art we can understand why they created their artwork in the respective style to their era. The first work of art is a fresco titled Trinity with the Virgin Mary, John the Evangelist, and the Donors (Holy Trinity) by artist Masaccio during the Early Renaissance c. 1425 1427/1428. The fresco is located on the wall of the Church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence, Italy. Brunelleschi s experiments on linear perspective and architecture had an influence on Masaccio s art. The Henry V play is set in England in the early fifteenth century. The political situation in England is tense: King Henry IV has died, and his son, the young King Henry V, has just assumed the throne. Henry lays claim to certain parts of France, based on his distant roots in the French royal family. However, the Dauphin of France insults King Henry by sending tennis balls in response to these claims, which shows us that he is trying to imply that King Henry cannot be serious, and that he is immature and childish like he was before he became the King of England. Nonetheless, Henry gives a fitting reply and decides to invade France. In Henry V, a positive attitude to war is presented with patriotism, honour and glory which can be linked with The Soldier poem written by Rupert Brooke. In the play, King Henry delivers many speeches as he understands the power of his words to draw out action. His speeches are meant to stir soldiers morale and offer motivation, inspiration and encouragement to the soldiers. • 24. The Effects Of Coal Ash On The Health Of Water Systems Introduction Coal ash is a byproduct of burning coal in power plants and is composed mainly of aluminum and silicon oxides. This ash is commonly stored away in dump sites, only to leach out solutions of concentrated toxic heavy metals. Such issues are detrimental to the health of water systems, posing both a human and environmental health risk. However, there are solutions to this problem. Coalash possesses unique chemical properties that allow for the remediation of other environmental concerns, such as the treatment of soil polluted with heavy metals, the removal of nutrients from wastewater, and the remediation of acid mine drainage in streams. Coal ash is known to contain a number of different toxic metals, the exact content dependent upon the coal it is formed from. Containing this potential pollution hazard is an expensive problem, as approximately 75% of all ash generated is stored in landfills. In these sites, rainwater can leach out toxic metals including mercury, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, molybdenum, lead and selenium. As over 500 million tons of ash are produced each year, there s an increasing environmental health hazard to the surrounding water systems of these landfills. Pollution can spread to municipal water systems and potentially poison humans. As such, figuring out a better solution to deal with the unused coal ash is of significant importance. • 35. Implementing Alternate Technologies Improve The Power... IMPLEMENTING ALTERNATE TECHNOLOGIES TO IMPROVE THE POWER HANDLING CAPACITY OF ALL Si MEMS PHASE SHIFTERS Abstract: This proposal paper analyze and suggest the alternate methods to reduce the heat dissipation and power consumption of MEMS phase shifters while they are being used in the real time environment i.e., in a closed loop operation. So many advancements in the MEMS technology make the MEMS production very effective, but still there are some drawbacks in its structure and in its performance, which pulls the system efficiency to down. Self and mutual inductions are the two major run time defects which affects the performances of the MEMS devices and increases its power consumption when there is a physical data link between two blocks. If the proper steps are taken then, the measurement results can range up to 40dBm at 75 GHz or even more. Hence by using alternate methods for the communication between the two blocks using PIC 16f778 controller we can reduce the temperature rise in all Si phase shifters, which is 20 30 times lesser than the conventional MEMS phase shifters. Also by implementing this idea we can reduce the fabrication cost and we can make a great revolution in the field of embedded systems. Key terms: Microwave, phase shifters, optic fiber, radio frequency micro electro mechanical systems. I. Country music has gone through many phases of different musical styles including the honky tonk style and more modern pop country style. More recently, mainstream country has continued to define itself through bringing all these different styles together and relying on each of them. This genre of music faces issues relating to its original classification as being working class music , being in opposition to homosexuality and its portrayal and absence of women. Often times I have heard people say that they prefer all genres of music, except country. Growing up I always listened to country musicdue to the fact that my mom and our family friends often listen to it, therefore I never understood why it unveiled such a negative reaction for most people. Oftentimes I find myself excluding my enjoyment of country music to others simply to avoid their surprised reactions. While I realize how people may be closed off to country music because of the labels that have been imposed upon it in common discourse and media, I often would like to point out that modern country music that is played on the radio today is often very different from more traditional country music played many years ago, and is not that much different from pop and rock sounds. These issues of class divide, homosexuality and the role of women must be looked upon in relation to contemporary country music, which can be considered a more relevant discussion. From country music s roots stemming from Folk and Blues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nitroxyl Radicals Nitroxyl radicals, which belong to the six membered piperidine (TEMPO) or the five membered pyrrolidine (PROXYL) classes, are stable organic free radicals. The steric hindrance around the nitroxide group makes these compounds very stable. They are less toxic, and even serve as spin probes [1 2], spin labels [3], contrast agents [4] and antioxidants [5]. Nitroxyl radicals are widely used as spin probes for low frequency in vivo electron spin resonance imaging (ESRI). In ESRI, the spatial as well as the spectral information of the exogenously administered spin probes is obtained. OMRI seems to be one of the most promising method for protease activity imaging for mainly two reasons. First, it can provide high contrasts and 3D well resolved images as seen recently on tumor bearing mice [8]. This type of Deadly Dieter will often try to exist on only 500 calories per day, even though most nutritionists claim that a starvation diet is no lower than about 1200 calories a day. This person can get so upset over any extra calories that they begin to see calories where there are virtually none. People who just binge, and consequently are obese, can also be called Deadly Dieters. They, too, are out of control. Their diet is constantly on their minds. It begins to kill them (not only in terms of their health, but socially and personally). Binging Purging. These people often begin their Deadly Diet as fasters. He says I shall be telling this with a sigh (Frost 16). The reason for him telling the story is to give advice because he is proud of the decision that he made. Also, Hughes and Frost both use symbolism and imagery to bring out the picture about life. For Hughes, the stairs symbolize the life life that has been lived through pressing on because of the difficulties and uncertainties involved.
