What Are Calvin Coolidge s Achievements
John Orellana
Mrs. Tursi
Research Paper
April 4, 2017
Calvin Coolidge Calvin Coolidge was the 30th president of the United States. Throughout his time
of presidency he effectively improved the United States because of his accomplishments. He
established the Revenue Act, signed the Immigration Act, and signed the Indian Citizenship Act.
Each one of these acts impacted The United States and the people who live in it. These
accomplishments made Calvin Coolidge an effective president of the United States. When Calvin
Coolidge was president he established the Revenue Acts. There was three stages beginning with
the Revenue Act of 1924, then 1926, and 1928. The bill was a tax on wealthy individuals to
avoid paying inheritance tax once their loved ones died. A lot of people felt this was unfair so this
was revoked in the following year. (Alchin, 2017) In 1926, any individual, if ... Show more content

This act allowed Northern Europeans to enter the country. Immigrants who entered the country only
from Northern Europe were giving a chance to work here and also be educated here in the United
States, but the immigrants who entered the United States from Eastern and Southern Europe were
not allowed in the state. Eastern and Southern Europe were not accepted in the United States
because the president was not allies yet with Eastern and Southern Europe. Later on Calvin works
hard to become allies with the Eastern and Southern Europe for them to come in the country and
have the opportunity to work here and get educated here. (History, 2017) This act was actually for
the Jewish, Italian, and Greeks. Also the Japanese and Mexicans could not be in the United States
legally. When Calvin signed this law he stated that he would put a check to Russian, Austrian and
Italian immigration without segregating against the Japanese. When Congress introduced the bill
they made sure to be careful and to maintain the relationship with the Japanese. (densho.org,

The History of Punk Rock Essay
The History of Punk Rock
Throughout the entire world, music is one thing that is a constant. From Africa to Antarctica,
music can be found. There are literally millions of types of music out there: Rock, Rap, Pop,
EMO, Hard core, Ska, Latin, Classical. The list goes on and on. But one form of music has had
one of the most significant histories of them all: Punk rock. A look into the history of this type of
music will help us understand why punk rock sounds and feels the way it does. It is necessary to
look at the types of dancing, different types of punk rock, and the reasons behind it to understand
how and why this type of music formed.

Slam Dancing
Slam dancing has been popular through the history of punk. You may have heard of called
moshing or stage diving. Moshing is just a big game of bumper cars like you played when you
were a kid. I think Natalie Jacobson who is dating the lead singer of Murphy s Law describes
stage diving best when says, It s like diving into a human carpet. Something like the old kids trust
game. Just my way of getting into it. Gospel people got their thing, I got mine. 1
Politics
Some punks consider themselves Nazis , or are concerned with issues like peace, racism, and
nuclear war. Most punk is against parental, musical, and political authorities. On the other hand
some isn t. Bob Mould of Husker Du talks about politics quite frequently in his songs. I don t
write about politics because I m not an expert. Some bands find it very necessary to claim they re
politically relevant when in actuality they don t know *censored* about politics. Not informing
people is much better than misinforming people. We re sort of like reporters in a way. Reporters of
our own mental state. Reporters of the state of the air. Consciousness. Of the day. We make
personal statements.2
Friends
Most punks that live in small towns have trouble making friends. They find it hard to relate to most
people.

Belonging Romulus, My Father and the Kite Runner Essay
Year 12 Assessment Task 2: Area of Study Belonging
We all strive to belong
To what extent is this statement true with regard to your SET text and at least ONE related text of
your own choosing?
One s understanding of belonging can broaden their understanding and acceptance of themselves
and the world around them. The statement that we all strive to belong is true, however it may take
time to belong to a certain person, place, group, community or even the larger world. This issue is
explored in Raimond Gaita s biographical memoir Romulus, My Father and Khaled Hosseini s
confronting novel The Kite Runner. Throughout these texts, the themes of personal relationships,

Therefore, Gaita demonstrates how his cultural upbringing in Australia has enriched his relationship
with his father, allowing him to connect to the Australian landscape, just like Romulus does with
the European landscape.
Similarly in The Kite Runner, Amir struggles to find a connection with his father, Baba.
According to Amir, their bond was a fundamental basis of their lives, however when describing
Baba, he claims he is a force of nature, using a metaphor to not only place Baba as a superior
character, but leaving room for sympathy for Amir as he, like Raimond, feels a distant sense of
connection to the world of his father. Another prime example of Amir feeling no connection to the
world of his father is the soccer games that he, whilst full of regret, participated in, just to try and
feel that sense of belonging he was hoping for. Amir would pretend to enjoy soccer even though he
was hopeless and his scraggy legs couldn t keep up with the sport. Amir s condescending tone
expresses his embarrassment and hate for the sport but the will to persevere to make his father
happy, therefore demonstrating how Amir strives to belong. Amir s personal relationship with his
father was obviously dishonest which contradicts with his father s

The Recession Of A Recession
Economical term recession means a significant decrease in activity across the economy, which last
longer than few months. This phenomenon is visible in employment, wholesale retail trade, and
others. The recession is considered a normal part of the business cycle. Nevertheless, a one time
crisis can trigger the onset of a recession. The global recession through 2007 to 2009 resulted in
significant breakdowns to practically all the developed and developing countries. In order to
prevent a future financial crisis, numerous government policies were enforced. A recession usually
last 6 to 18 months and interest rate fall to stimulate the economy. During a recession, people tend
not to spend, borrow, but to save money because of a fall in confidence. The government initiates
an expansionary fiscal policy which involves increasing stimulus government spending and cutting
taxes. However, the question is can increased stimulus spending help end the recession. The first
article, Increased Stimulus Spending Can Help End the Recession by Lawrence H. Summers,
argues that for a successful economic recovery, the US government must pursue measures that
increase confidence, borrowing, and spending (Summers 1). Summers alleges that the reason why
recession keeps on is because of lack of demand. An increase in spending to increase demand is the
cure, even though too much spending was part of a cause in recession. Summers defined a
recession as:

Confederate Flag Is America s Swastika
Confederate Flag In The Hill, a top U.S. political magazine, in June 2015, Contributor H. A.
Goodman wrote, The Confederate flag is indeed America s swastika. In the same way the
Jewish community sees the swastika as a painful reminder of the Holocaust, the African
American community perceives the flag as a reminder of slavery and racial discrimination. The
Confederate flag, a relic of the devastating Civil War, has become one of the most controversial
and contentious icons in American history. The debate over the flying of the Confederate flag is
in regard to the Southern Civil War ideals of slavery and white racial superiority that historians
have agreed the flag represents. Supporters of the Confederate flag argue that as a symbol of
Southern pride, honor, and character, the flag is a reminder of the South s distinctive and rich
history. Opponents of the flag contend that rather than a symbol of southern bravery, the
Confederate flag symbolizes the racist, hateful ideas of the Confederacy. The Confederate flag, a
clear symbol of white superiority, prejudice, and slavery, should not be allowed to be perpetuated
by the government in a society where those ideals should be long gone. The discord over the
Confederate flag is rooted in wider debate over the causes of the Civil War and the ideals the flag
symbolizes. With the high likelihood of Abraham Lincoln winning the 1860 presidential election,
many of the Southern States became worried with the very real possibility

Response to The Bulgarian Borderland by L. Melishkevich SUMMARY Main Claim of Paper:
Religious divisions in Madan (and other Bulgarian towns in the Rhodope region) are produced by a
religious borderland in which individuals grapple with ideological conflict and tension,
characterized by Eastern vs. Western influences. Support: Factual information and quotes from
Muslim Lives in Eastern Europe; Supportive information (for comparisons) from other books
/places examined this semester. CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK (with some complimentary
questions) Argument: Pushing back against Ghodsee s notion that Madan is unique due to the
combination of its large Muslim populations and the collapse of GORUBSO, the paper builds off
past discussions of borderland (with Where the World Ended and Consecution and Social Change)
to argue that a religious borderland is responsible for divisions in the Bulgarian Muslim population.

organizational and evidence deficiencies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Eyewitness Testimony In Criminal Investigation
Eyewitness testimony has been questioned regarding its accuracy. Discuss the usefulness of an
eyewitness in criminal investigations.
Eyewitness testimonies is evidence given by people who have witnessed an event, such as a
robbery. Eyewitness testimonies are useful as they can be used to help identify a criminal and
lower the amount of suspects who are included. Police and similar services can use eyewitnesses
to narrow down their searches by asking a series of questions about what they have witnessed and
also what they believe the suspect looked like, eyewitnesses can also help give information about
the actual crime itself and therefore give police more knowledge on the crime. The advantages of
an eyewitness are obvious, they can help give ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Informative Essay On Colorguard
Color guard is an activity you participate in the marching band and spinning flags, rifles, and
sabers while dancing as well. The activity color guard has been around for many years, but still
is not very common to most people. If you went around asking a survey of who knew what color
guard truly was, the numbers would most likely be pretty low. I first auditioned for color guard my
freshman year of high schoolwith roughly thirty girls. They were only taking twenty two, out of
the thirty girls. The returning members took up eighteen out of the thirty girls so there were truly
only four spots available and twelve girls wanted their spots. I auditioned and gave it my all, and

wanted as captain. I was very close with the band director, but I wanted him to choose who

Leadership Styles During The Workplace
Different leadership styles result in various results in the workplace. The Fiedler contingency
model postulates a leader s style is static; however, God can transform anyone s heart and thus
their leadership style. Additionally, the grapevine can be an important tool for employers. As long
as each individual chooses to use gossip for honorable purposes, God will bless the workplace.

Approaches to Leadership
There are many different ways in which individuals lead. Whether implicit or by choice, the
style and the way it is applied can lead to success or failure in the workplace. My boss and I
approach leadership in completely different ways. While my boss leans toward only a
transactional style, specifically Laissez faire, or management by exception, I prefer a combination
of transactional and translational styles. According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is
the most passive and therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382).
Additionally, management by exception is somewhat better, however it remains one of the weakest
leadership styles. Leaders using this style fail to be engaged with the employees unless and until
there is an issue requiring their

The loss of jobs can have a devastating impact on a community and on the morale of remaining

necessarily increase the reported net income of the company. The reason: if fixed costs that have
been allocated to a division that is closed are reallocated to the remaining divisions, the company s
net income might actually decrease. This sounds like it would most likely be the case at Phelps.
(b) It is not unusual to reevaluate fixed cost allocations periodically. However, the allocationshould
be based on the underlying economics of the situation rather than the motives of individuals.

Gung-Ho Means “Work Together”
Gung Ho means Work together
Introduction
Gung Ho demonstrates a cross cultural relationship between the Americans and the Japanese people
working together towards the goal. In this movie, a Japanese car manufacturer company takes over
an American car manufacturing plant. The American workers were in conflict with the Japanese
style of management.
Situation
Hunt Stevenson takes the leadership role and becomes the liaison between the Japanese executive
team and the American workers. At first, the workers were working at their usual pace and did not
meet the productivity numbers as expected.
Before the arrival of the Japanese executives, the organization structure of the plant was Work

In the end, Hunt s leadership style proves effective. Hunt Stevenson s personality is aggressively
extraverted. He is a people pleaser, sometimes to the point of sacrificing everything else. At the
start of the film, he sets off for Japan promising to accomplish a job he has no idea how to do,
simply because he does not want to let anybody in Had and how the people of different cultural
background have to work towards their common goal by integrating each others work practices. A
Japanese car manufacturing company takes over a Detroit car plant and employ American workers
who comes into clash with the Japanese style of management. This results in some hilarious
moments that makes the movie great to watch. However, there are many innuendo messages that
one can learn in the difficulties involved in engaging people to change their work practices to keep
up with new ways of thinking and new technology. Sounds familiar?
The Japanese concept was imposed more than implemented, and in many cases it was dictated.
Implementation was usually top down and corporate driven, short circuiting mid level management
in between. In most cases, team was tossed around to support everything from re organization to
downsizing to a reason for firing someone (for not being a team player ).
Summary of the commentary:
The commentary s primary focus is on the principles of modern Japanese management, citing
examples of their application at real companies, both American and Japanese. It

helpless when being blind for the first time. Although overtime Cheyenne becomes independent
after being kidnapped, and Helen Keller converts after attending school. When experiencing
change, we often respond either negatively or positively. In Girl Stolen , the main character,
Cheyenne, could see just like any other kid. Nonetheless, she was involved in a car accident,
which caused her to lose her mom and her sight. In like manner, once Cheyenne realized that she

India Association Plans A Newsletter
The poem India Association Plans a Newsletter by Sharat Chandra has a lot of meaning to it behind
retaining home culture in another country. Throughout the poem, Chandra discusses on how the
second generation children should still preserve their own culture, and not forget about the heritage
you came from. The poem itself can be understood in a way that is meaningful for all new
immigrants who wantto sustain their own heritage in another land which is why today s reader
should pay attention to this poem. Personally, I feel the poem can tell today s readers about the
problems with being too Americanized. Sharat Chandra uses metaphor, imagery, and symbols in
IndiaAssociation Plans a Newsletter to convey a sense of what relieves the younger generation
from falling back too behind on their own culture, and not completely wash it down just because
you are living in a different country.
Breezing through the poem I can spot metaphors, and those are the ones that contradict what
Chandra says in the previous lines. Chandra is an immigrant from India who has been in the
U.S. for about two decades. Today s readers can get a sense of motherhood after reading this
because the poet says, to make India over there to become India over here (Line 7); this can be
interpreted in a such way that just because we are in the United States it doesn t mean that we can t
bring our country here. The motherhood literally refers to as giving birth or raising a child, but in

History of the American Mafia Essay
History of the American Mafia
Imagine living in a world where crime ruled. A world where gangsters were more powerful than
politicians, owned the police, and ran the city in whatever way they felt. They robbed whom they
wanted and killed when they didn t get their way. Now stop imagining and realize that this
happened here in the United States of America in the 1920 s. It was run by an organization made
up mainly of Italians called the Mafia. The word Mafia itself has many meanings. In Arabic it
means refuge , which refers to the origins of the Mafia as a society that fled to the hills of Italy to
avoid attack. Some Italians hold it as a word of high respect implying strength, courage, agility,

This code states that all family based activities are above all domestic family matters in the home,
it enforces silence, a strike upon another member is like a strike on the boss himself. Violating any
of these laws is punishable by death with no trial or remorse (Whizkid01 3). This one value is what
kept Mafia families powerful and prosperous. As the Mafia grew in America, they prospered off
illegal gambling and prostitution. It wasn t until 1919 with the ratification of the 18th Amendment
to the Constitution that the Mafia really gained power. The 18th amendment banned the
distribution and manufacturing of alcoholic beverages in America (Prohibition 2). Although this
amendment meant nothing but good, it did the exact opposite to America. While politicians saw
an improved nation with this amendment, criminals saw green. Americans now thought drinking
as a thrill, it was something illegal that they can do but get away with. It was the rush of getting
away with it that made speakeasies so popular. Speakeasies were Mafia run entertainment clubs,
consisting of an open bar of the finest bootlegged liquor along with dining and entertainment

(Friedman, NYT, 1991) However, as the newly independent nations of the near abroad (former
Soviet Republics) flexed their sovereignty for the first time, former servants of the Soviet Union
felt their security slipping away. Even before the advent of the Soviet Union, Russia enjoyed a
dominant relationship with its neighbors for hundreds of years; both politically and culturally. So
much so, that this hegemony came to be seen as the natural order off things (Giles, K. Russian
Roulette, 2016). For such a world view, the 1991 dissolution of the Warsaw Pact was especially
alarming. As former Warsaw Pact countries signed on to become members of the European Union,
or NATO, or even both; these Russians saw the West s embrace of their former client states as an
advancing military threat. The Cold Warwas over, why expand NATO? Why is missile defense
necessary in Poland? The threat of western encroachment into Russia s sphere of influence has
been viewed by Russia with steadily increasing dreed ever since. (Tayler, The Atlantic, 2016)

Taking a Look at Facebook and Linkedin
The social networking service, Facebook, was created by Mark Zuckerberg with his college
roommate, who both attended Harvard University, and launched Facebook in February 2004
(Phillips, 2007). Once the social networking sight went viral, the website s membership was no
longer limited to Harvard students college students from the rest of the United States and
Canada soon started to use the social media service (History of Facebook, 2014). Facebook has
become so popular and globally spread, that it is now being used by individuals and businesses
worldwide. Mark Zuckerberg stated that the core idea of Facebook was to create a platform for
people to share and connect with others who are prevalent in one s life (Our Community to the
Facebook Community, 2011). Facebook has created a borderless world and civilians can connect
with friends and family who are dispersed all over the world. Publicising one s life on the internet
is risky, and has lead the Facebook team to create privacy settings to limit others access to the user
s information. Facebook wanted to ensure that users would feel comfortable to share moments and
events about their real lives without being fearful of unwanted individuals viewing this information
(Knibbs, 2014). This defining fact gave way to individuals, for the first time, having tools that they
can use to broadcast their lives and connect with others. With this new found knowledge that the

Ford Mustang History
2016 2017 MUSTANG Ford of America This section in the Ford website explains in full depths all
the new specs of the new 2016 2017 Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang brings this year for
example the new eco boost system. The eco boost system has been never seen before in other
models. The traditional Mustang has always been produced in either a 6 cylinder engine or an 8
cylinder engine. Due to numbers in sales dropping since its 1964 model, Ford Company believes
that with its new 4 cylinder eco boost engine, sales will tend to increase. In a car market ruled by
electric cars and hybrid cars, today s society is preferring miles per gallon over everything. The
Ford webpage also states each engine delivers at least 300 horsepower. The 3.7L V6 offers up 300
horsepower and 280 pounds of torque, standard on V6 Fastback model. The 2.3L Eco Boost
engines brings out 310 horsepower and 320 pounds of torques. The 5.0L V8 kicks out at 435...

In Cold Blood Sparknotes
The book In Cold Blood by Truman Capote tells the true story of the murder of the Clutter
family, the events that lead to their murders, and the reasons behind the killer s motives. In 1959
Holcomb, Kansas the family was brutally killed by gunshot wounds while being tied up by Dick
Hickock and Perry Smith. Perry Smith and Dick Hickock at first get away with the murders.
They left little clues and had no personal connection to the murdered family. The residents of
Holcomb were deeply affected by the murders. The village of Holcomb stands on the high wheat
plains of Western Kansas, a lonesome area that other Kansans call out there. The townspeople
viewed the Clutters as the family least likely in the town to be murdered. They became unable to
conceive that the killers were strangers. Many townspeople became anxious about their own
safety because they felt as if they could not trust their neighbors. Alvin Dewey was the lead
investigator who became obsessed with the murders. His need to find the killers became his
motive in life. He dedicated all of his time to this mysterious murder. As the book goes on, the
two killers move on with their lives. The book follows Dick Hickock and Perry Smith and their
travels to Mexico. It seemed as if the two men would never be caught and brought to... Show more

The Eye Is An Extension Of The Human Body
Title
Introduction
The eye is one of the most complex parts of the human body. It is so complex and full of nerves,
that it can be considered an extension of the brain. That is why, even nowadays, it is still extremely
difficult to design a prosthetic that could completely substitute its functions. It is clear then, that the
main goal of visual prosthesis is to restore vision in blind individuals, providing stable, safe and
long lasting devices, in parallel with improvement of quality of life, meaning that each person is
different, and not always an enhancement in visual function translates into a better life.
To be able to understand and upgrade visual prosthesis, one must first understand the eye operates.

Postmortem evaluation of retina of people with these diseases has also shown that a significant
number of cells remain in the inner retina. These cells can be used by the prosthesis; however, it is
not certain if the processing circuitry of the inner retina also remains intact.
State of Art
Firstly, it is important to clarify that it is possible to stimulate other visual pathways other than the
retina to recover visual perception. Examples of these are any sensory substitution based systems.
However, the retinal prosthesis, besides its complexity, is the most developed visual systems so
far, besides being the only of these prosthetic with the potential to restore the individual s vision as
it was before his/her specific disease.
There are currently two main types of retinal prosthesis available commercially: those that use an
external system for image capture and those that use the patient s own optical focusing system.
Being an example of each the Argus II retinal prosthetic system and the Alpha IMS one,
respectively. Both work with the same three step mechanism that consists of capturing the visual
images from the outside world, transducing them into meaningful neurological signals and
subsequent activation of the optic nerve. The way each device make each step differ.
The Argus II retinal prosthetic system uses a video camera as a capturing system. The images are
then processed in real time by a visual processing unit. These first steps occur extrinsic

different age groups separated by rooms. When I first walked into the facility I didn t notice any

easily tell by looking at the children who were in the room. To finish my observations all I
needed was the age group 24 36 months. This age group I was observing was located in the back
of the facility. As I entered the room, I noticed it was empty, no children to be found. I then
realize that it was nap time. All children were in a separate room enclosed by a door that was
connected to the room I entered in. When walking in I noticed two tables were in the center of
the room. A tiny restroom area was in the far left hand corner of the room which had a sink,
water fountain, and a small toilet for the children to use frequently after every activity. There is a
play area as well which was located right when you walk into the room. The room was bright, and

The Evolution of the Motet Essay
The Evolution of the Motet
The Evolution of the Motet
Throughout the history of music, there have been few styles that not only have opened doors to
masterwork compositions in their own genres, but have also led the way to other musical
techniques over the musical eras and one of these magical music styles is the motet. The motet can
easily be confused with other musical structures but what separates the motet from other types of
group performance based styles of music is a piece of music in several parts with words. 1 This is
the closest definition of motet as can be said without overgeneralization and will operate from the
beginning of the 13th century well into the late 16th century and beyond. Some scholars ... Show

Medieval motets tended to be isorhythmic; that is, they employed repeated rhythmic patterns in all
voices not only the cantus firmus which did not necessarily coincide with repeating melodic
patterns. 2 This new isorhythmic principle, brought on mostly by the composer Machaut, was used
not only in the tenor voice but also rather with much more freedom in the upper voice parts. The
application of discant over a cantus firmus marked the beginnings of this new revolutionary style,
the motet, in Western music. The key motet composers in the medieval period were few in number;
Phillip de Vitry and Machaut were one of the earliest composers to institute the isorhythmic
technique, which set the style for other medieval composers like Willelmus de Winchecumbe.
Guillaume de Machaut was a more famous named late medieval composer to institute the discant
which caught on in other music styles and only helped to evolve the motet into its later stylings.
These composers helped carry the motet to the new Flemish motet style.
The Flemish style of motets marked the peak of the motet, in my opinion. The Flemish motet was
more polished and refined while in contrast, the medieval motet was a diamond in the rough.

Mathilde unfortunately was oblivious at the fact that it took her more energy to pay off the

on the materialistic aspect as well as the upper ranks of society. Towards the end of the short story

About Myer Holdings Limited
Myer Holdings Limited Introduction As stated by Weller (2007) Australia s textile industry has
seen a steady growth from 1970s to date, which makes it one of the major contributors to the
economic development of the nation and a greater source of employment opportunity. The
industry is unique from other markets around the world specifically from European and U.S.
markets. This unique arrangement of the Australian space economy frequently contributes to
several barriers for many clothing firms which has intention to establish in Australia. However,
Australia s population within most urban centers is very less density which creates a lot of
obstacles for any firm investing in Australia to make a nationwide market. Additionally, most of
the clothing industries operating in Australia, one or two companies are specialized in the
production of a lot of products which are normally sold at the national level, again a good
number of smaller clothing companies work in local, in cities or within the state territories. The
diversity of the market looks more fruitful for companies to serve in a specialized niche market
and to build a number of semi monopolistic market spaces. Clothing market and some of the
similar industries in Australia are always determined by the climatic condition and people s
lifestyle. This decides how the people spend on clothing and the kind of clothes which normally

These three sub themes were chosen because they each play a role in educating African children.
The three sub themes provide a narrow focus on the overall right to education in Africa. The first
two pictures included in the sub theme access to education are pictures which represent the
overcrowding of classrooms. These pictures are included because according to Schanzenbach
(2014) class size can be correlated to future student outcomes. The smaller the student to teacher
ratio is the better the future outcome of the individual child. The following two pictures are
included to further the understanding of access to education in relation to safety. There are many
safety factors that can impact a child s education. Safety concerns are one of the main reasons
children are not attending school or are found underachieving (Asante Africa Foundation, 2013).
The last picture of this sub category is included to help visualize how many children in sub Sahara
Africa are not attending school due to an unstable country. Poirier (2012) mentions how conflicted
countries in Africa produce major damage to public infrastructures, and contribute to the
displacement of populations. Armed conflicts heavily impact the enrolment rates of children in
school. In 2009, 27 million people worldwide were displaced due to armed conflicts of this 27
million, 11.6 million people were in 21 African countries (Poirier, 2012). Thus, accenting the impact
violence has on accessing education. This should impact the spectators and they should feel a sense

Trove Character Analysis
How to properly build a character in Trove
Have you ever asked a player on Trove what their power rank is and was astonished by their
answer? Then this is how they got where they are and what you will need to get your character or
character up to the desired level.
The first thing you need to do when it comes to becoming a top Trovain player is to look at what
gives the power to you as the player. There are three big things that make up your characters. The
first one is the level of the character. Having a max level thirty character is one of the first things
you need. The second is to keep your eye on your mastery, each level you add to your mastery you

Another key factor you will notice as you are leveling up your character is you are unlocking
gem slots. This is key to the power rank portion of Trove, and that s why you need to be level 30
because by doing so you will have unlocked all gem slots and allow you to insert the maximum
number of gems onto that character.
After talking about leveling and gems a little I will go in a little deeper in the matter. To make
sure you can get into the desired portals as you level. Your face, hat, and weapon you should be
changing out with the items you pick up from dungeons if it will give you more power rank.
Your end gear type will be called Stellar gear but you will end up having to buy that from another
player using the in game currency but that will be needed later. So, in the mean time you will
focus on what gear you can find at the end of dungeons. This is also applied to the gems you will
get from opening the gem boxes you receive for completing dungeons. You wantto equip the
highest power ranked gem which is commonly received after opening seventy gem boxes.
The prime goal of you leveling and stick on gear is to reach ten thousand power rank and be
level thirty. You should be able to do such by leveling the radiant gems up to level fifteen that you
will find in Uber eight world. Once you get into Uber nine world with your ten thousand power
rank then you will need to change your game play a little on what gems you will equip

destined to be a problem. Before health records were only paper based and there was constantly
incomplete or illegible information that was difficult to dicipher. Now that electronic health
records are commonly used, health care providers have access to unlimited amounts of data that
s perfectly legible. The amount of data now avaialable to the providers could almost be
overwhelming. This virtual mountain of data can lead to information overload, a new liability
that can lead providers to overlook key findings despite reliable access to documentation. For
instance, clinicians who miss a critical detail that affects treatment decisions while reviewing the
EHR could in fact be liable for negligence because the fact in question was likely just a few clicks
away. (Sittig Singh, 2011). The use of electronic health records,

Essay On Hydor Locket
As a water nymph, Hydor was always underestimated. She was looked at as weak and petite, but
deep in her heart she knew she was strong. Hydor excelled as a young water nymph and her powers
over water were substantial. She desired to be a god like her hero, Poseidon. As the daughter of
Merella, the queen of the sea, Hydor never thought that she would be anything more than just a
princess. Hydor awoke from her slumber and took her morning swim throughout the underwater
kingdom. A sparkle in the distance caught her eye and she rushed towards it. It was a heart
shaped locket that belonged to her grandmother. She hurried back to the lavish palace where her
family resides. Hydor showed the locket to her mother, and Merella snatched it from her child s
grasp. Merella ordered Hydor to return to her room. The mischievous queen kept the locket for

that if she were to defeat Empusa, she would have to unlock the full power of the locket. The water

second time and cast another dark spell on the ocean. This time, Hydor was ready for a fight.
She zoomed across the ocean to where the dark demigoddess stood waiting for the water nymph.
The two lashed out in a vigorous fight. They exploded in extreme power. The two were whipped
back from the intensity of the fight. Hydor knew that Empusa would not be defeated easily. That
s when she remembered the locket and grasped it. The ocean healed, and Hydor s true power
was revealed. She realized that the locket was not Heart of the Sea, but that Hydor, herself, was.
Hydor used her newly found powers to defeat Empusa, and locked the demigoddess in a block of
ice. Hydor banished Empusa to the chambers where her mother withered

Ordinary People Character Analysis
In the Academy award winning film, Ordinary people the Jarrett family lives and ordinary life with
ordinary problems, But once they lost their oldest son buck, there entire world gets turned upside
down. The mother of this family Beth Jarrett, takes the loss of her oldest son the hardest, she
avoids any and all conversation about the topic. In situations like these the strategies of conflict
management always can help. Some ways the whole familycould have benefited from this is to
create emotional safety, this would have let the whole family know how they feel about the
situation and what they can do to improve it. Every member of the family at one point in the movie
went into silence for violence mode, for example every time Beth the mothergot confronted about

Robert Frost Archetypes
starting off the author of frost, M.P. kozlowsky uses the protagonist s character archetype of the
innocent, to surprise the reader by having her defy her archetype norms. At the start of the book
we, as a reader, are already able to tell she is the innocent due to her need for happiness, and desire
for love. But as quickly as we come to realize her personality she defies expectations for an innocent,
by standing up to authority, because she wants to save romes, her broot. Frost and romes had been
through so much together. When they were hungry, he brought them small rats to eat not counting

There are far too many dangers out there, and your broot is nearly dead. Thats why were going

impossibility it isn t. There are ways. Humans are capable of great things, bunt... The person she
is talking to, is bunt. He serves as a caretaker of her, and brings her food, but more than that he is
a robot.he thinks logically and without emotion, which makes this scene even better evidence.
He is saying there is no way to survive out there but she doesn t care. She goes anyway, standing
up to authority, believing in the power of herself and defying all odds.this shows the author s use
of character archetypes because the innocent is usually very reserved. They don t like conflict and
are all around less intense. But frost stood up to bunt, she said she was going regardless of what he

Advantages Of Montessori Teaching Method
What is the best way to teach children? This is a question that people have been asking since they
began teaching. There are a plethora of teaching methods that have been tried and used throughout
history. Each method claims to be the best, but can they be supported through a Christian world
view? The Montessori teaching method teaches children to be independent and teach themselves.
While large or whole group instruction feeds on the child s sheep like nature in following what
their peers are doing and teaches every student the same lesson at the same time. Montessori and
large group instruction are two teaching methods that are proven to work and can be trusted and
used with a Christian perspective. The Montessori teaching method that has been around since
1907. Dr. Maria Montessori was the first woman to earn a physician s degree in Italy. After
graduating she taught a class of fifty students and developed her own way of teaching. She
believed that children were born with absorbent minds and were fully capable of self directed
learning. Montessori developed the framework for a prepared educational environment in which
children, empowered with the freedom to choose how they would spend their time in school, would
seek out opportunities to learn on their own (5 Alternative Teaching Methods). Montessori
classrooms are made of quite, uncluttered environments, and are filled with several games and
activities that cater to self directed learning. Most of the learning

The Ideal Trend In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
Ideal happiness within a society varies greatly depending on the time period and trends that are
found influential at the time. During the time the novel, Brave New World, was published many of
the current trends include newly advanced scientific research that Aldous Huxley heavily used
throughout the novel; Huxley is a humanist horrified by the theories and accomplishments of
extremists of his own time, but in the novel by using contrasting points of view, he makes no
explicit statement of his own position ( Brad Congdon). By putting a vial twist on the current
discoveries in his own time, Huxley displayed the utopian civilization by tugging at fears, people

of the caste or people in power, ...Each of these events are designed to evoke a sense of loyalty
towards the caste to which the citizen belongs and to the greater society (Huxley 33). By
eliminating the curiosity of each individual s purpose within their life, the people in power

Comedy in Don Quixote
Q.2 Wherein lies the comedy in part one of Don Quixote?
The story Don Quixote is a burlesque, mock epic of the romances of chivalry, in which Cervantes
teaches the reader the truth by creating laughter that ridicules. Through the protagonist, he succeeds
in satirizing Spain s obsession with the noble knights as being absurdly old fashioned. The
dynamics of the comedy in this story are simple, Don Quixote believes the romances he has read
and strives to live them out, and it is his actions and the situations that he finds himself in during his
adventures that make the reader laugh. We can define comedy as something that entertains the
reader and that makes us want to laugh out loud and Cervantes succeeds in doing this through his
use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, most of the situations that Don Quixote is placed in during his ridiculous quest
are excellent examples of slapstick comedy. The reader is highly entertained by Don Quixote on
his adventures during which he implicitly believes that he is like the knights in the novels he has
read and so; he logically believes his own fiction. The reader is embarrassed when Don Quixote
decides that by choosing a new name for himself, his horse, his lady and his friends that this will
suffice in making him a knight. Just like he shaped his own appearance, he chooses his name as
Don Quixote de La Mancha and this becomes one of the most prominent jokes of the book. It is
a name that is undignified and pretentious but simultaneously amusing because La Mancha is a
dry, sparsely populated region of Spain, which is exactly what a knight should avoid. The suffix
ote was considered derogatory at that time and it is even funny sounding. We are skeptical from
the very beginning as to whether or not Don Quixote is worthy of the title Don and our suspicions
are confirmed when he fails to assist people in distress like any good knight should. It is highly
entertaining when AndrГ©s specifically asks Don Quixote not to complicate his life with any more

The Negative Effects Of Cigarettes
Cigarettes kill more Americans than suicide, vehicular accidents, alcohol, cocaine, heroin, ADIS,
and homicides combined. Cigarettes do not support or benefit the public in a positive way.
Cigarettes are filled with thousands of chemicals and are highly addictive. Cigarettes have caused
numerous mental and physical problems for smokers and the people who surround them, impacting
families, communities and society. Cigarettes and tobaccoshould become an illegal drug in North
America. The negative traits of smokingoutweigh the positive traits; tobacco should not be
accessible to the public. Smoking kills these two words should be very familiar. The effects of first
hand smoke from cigarettes are pathetically publicize, barley educating the public about the dangers
and life threatening problems and illness associated with smoking. Although the understanding that
smoking cigarettes can kill you has been established in the minds of Americans, the effects of
second hand and thirdhand smoke has not. Two thirds of the smoke from a cigarette is not draw in
by the smoker, but enters the air and environment around the smoker, this smoke is exactly the
same as the third of smoke that was inhaled into the lungs of the smoker. ( Second hand Smoke )
Second and third hand smoke may cause cancers of the larynx (voice box), pharynx (throat),
bladder, nasal sinuses, rectum, breast, brain, stomach in adults and brain tumours, lymphoma and
leukemia in children. ( Second hand Smoke ) Second hand smoke is the smoke inhaled involuntary
by others produced by burning tobacco.
Unfortunately second hand smoke has twice the chemicals originate in the direct inhalation of
tobacco found in cigarettes. ( Secondhand Smoke ) Non smokers who inhale the polluted air are
likely to get many serious diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (emphysema
and chronic bronchitis), heart disease, lung cancer, asthma and other diseases. ( Second Hand
Smoke ) Third hand smoke can have the same impact as second hand smoke; third hand smoke is
the tobacco smoke that gets trapped hair, skin, fabric, carpet, furniture, and toys. Third hand smoke
contains the same toxic chemicals as second hand smoke and has the same effect on the body;

Concrete Project Report
Introduction
We were requested to write a report for a client that are looking to build a new parking garage in
the Bloemfontein area. The client also requsted from us to not just advise him/her on what type of
concrete to be used, but also to give him/her a broad understanding of the different types of concrete
. Some of the aspects that will be discussed in this report are as follows:
1.Special concrete and its application
2.Admixtures
3.Types of extenders
This report will also contain our detailed recommendation in the form of foundation, floor slabs,
columns and beams. It is important to look at the soil conditions and weather conditions for
example temperature and other factors that could have an negative effect on the concrete. Before
doing the design and classifying the concrete to be used a site investigation should be done and
testes required should be carried out. The design has a massive impact on the concrete that would
be used. For the purpose of this report I would assume a site with good soil and no clayed partials
were found.
Before we start we should get a better understanding of what concrete is its positives and negatives
its strengths and its weaknesses.
Strength of concrete is dependent on a number of factors; one of the most important factors is the
cement water ratio. The lower the ratio is, the higher the final strength of the concrete would be.
Typical values for this ratio

Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and Charles Darwin were...
Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and Charles Darwin were two of the most notable evolutionary scientists
in history. While Lamarck was known for his theory of inheritance by acquired characteristics,
Darwin was also respectfully known for his theory of evolution by natural selection. While they did
share some similar beliefs, they also disagreed on important aspects of evolutionas well. The
parallels and dissimilarities between the two theories can be highlighted by looking at the
Trichobatrachus robustas, better known as the horror/hairy frog.
The horror frog is native to the West coast area of Central Africa and belongs to the family
Arthroleptidae. This frogs remarkable ability other than to grow hair on its body is to break the
bones on their hind feet and to thrust a sharp claw through their skin. The claw is settled inside a
mass of connective tissue. A chunk of collagen forms a bond between the claw s sharp point and
a small piece of bone at the tip of the frog s toe, (NewScientist, 2008). David Blackburn of
Harvard s Museum of Comparative Zoology says that claws are not coated in keratin, like all
other known claws in the vertebrae world, (Science Blogs, 2008). When the frog is threatened,
they flex a muscle that connects to the lower half of the claw. This severs the connection to a
nodule and pulls the claw downward. The claw which is made of reinforced and thickened bone,
pierces the frog s own skin and through the skin of the toe, (National Geographic, 2008). David

  • 2. What Are Calvin Coolidge s Achievements John Orellana Mrs. Tursi Research Paper April 4, 2017 Calvin Coolidge Calvin Coolidge was the 30th president of the United States. Throughout his time of presidency he effectively improved the United States because of his accomplishments. He established the Revenue Act, signed the Immigration Act, and signed the Indian Citizenship Act. Each one of these acts impacted The United States and the people who live in it. These accomplishments made Calvin Coolidge an effective president of the United States. When Calvin Coolidge was president he established the Revenue Acts. There was three stages beginning with the Revenue Act of 1924, then 1926, and 1928. The bill was a tax on wealthy individuals to avoid paying inheritance tax once their loved ones died. A lot of people felt this was unfair so this was revoked in the following year. (Alchin, 2017) In 1926, any individual, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This act allowed Northern Europeans to enter the country. Immigrants who entered the country only from Northern Europe were giving a chance to work here and also be educated here in the United States, but the immigrants who entered the United States from Eastern and Southern Europe were not allowed in the state. Eastern and Southern Europe were not accepted in the United States because the president was not allies yet with Eastern and Southern Europe. Later on Calvin works hard to become allies with the Eastern and Southern Europe for them to come in the country and have the opportunity to work here and get educated here. (History, 2017) This act was actually for the Jewish, Italian, and Greeks. Also the Japanese and Mexicans could not be in the United States legally. When Calvin signed this law he stated that he would put a check to Russian, Austrian and Italian immigration without segregating against the Japanese. When Congress introduced the bill they made sure to be careful and to maintain the relationship with the Japanese. (densho.org, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The History of Punk Rock Essay The History of Punk Rock Throughout the entire world, music is one thing that is a constant. From Africa to Antarctica, music can be found. There are literally millions of types of music out there: Rock, Rap, Pop, EMO, Hard core, Ska, Latin, Classical. The list goes on and on. But one form of music has had one of the most significant histories of them all: Punk rock. A look into the history of this type of music will help us understand why punk rock sounds and feels the way it does. It is necessary to look at the types of dancing, different types of punk rock, and the reasons behind it to understand how and why this type of music formed. (6) Slam Dancing Slam dancing has been popular through the history of punk. You may have heard of called moshing or stage diving. Moshing is just a big game of bumper cars like you played when you were a kid. I think Natalie Jacobson who is dating the lead singer of Murphy s Law describes stage diving best when says, It s like diving into a human carpet. Something like the old kids trust game. Just my way of getting into it. Gospel people got their thing, I got mine. 1 Politics Some punks consider themselves Nazis , or are concerned with issues like peace, racism, and nuclear war. Most punk is against parental, musical, and political authorities. On the other hand some isn t. Bob Mould of Husker Du talks about politics quite frequently in his songs. I don t write about politics because I m not an expert. Some bands find it very necessary to claim they re politically relevant when in actuality they don t know *censored* about politics. Not informing people is much better than misinforming people. We re sort of like reporters in a way. Reporters of our own mental state. Reporters of the state of the air. Consciousness. Of the day. We make personal statements.2 Friends Most punks that live in small towns have trouble making friends. They find it hard to relate to most people.

Belonging Romulus, My Father and the Kite Runner Essay Year 12 Assessment Task 2: Area of Study Belonging We all strive to belong To what extent is this statement true with regard to your SET text and at least ONE related text of your own choosing? One s understanding of belonging can broaden their understanding and acceptance of themselves and the world around them. The statement that we all strive to belong is true, however it may take time to belong to a certain person, place, group, community or even the larger world. Therefore, Gaita demonstrates how his cultural upbringing in Australia has enriched his relationship with his father, allowing him to connect to the Australian landscape, just like Romulus does with the European landscape. Similarly in The Kite Runner, Amir struggles to find a connection with his father, Baba. According to Amir, their bond was a fundamental basis of their lives, however when describing Baba, he claims he is a force of nature, using a metaphor to not only place Baba as a superior character, but leaving room for sympathy for Amir as he, like Raimond, feels a distant sense of connection to the world of his father. Another prime example of Amir feeling no connection to the world of his father is the soccer games that he, whilst full of regret, participated in, just to try and feel that sense of belonging he was hoping for. Amir would pretend to enjoy soccer even though he was hopeless and his scraggy legs couldn t keep up with the sport. Amir s condescending tone expresses his embarrassment and hate for the sport but the will to persevere to make his father happy, therefore demonstrating how Amir strives to belong. Amir s personal relationship with his father was obviously dishonest which contradicts with his father s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Recession Of A Recession Economical term recession means a significant decrease in activity across the economy, which last longer than few months. This phenomenon is visible in employment, wholesale retail trade, and others. The recession is considered a normal part of the business cycle. Nevertheless, a one time crisis can trigger the onset of a recession. The global recession through 2007 to 2009 resulted in significant breakdowns to practically all the developed and developing countries. In order to prevent a future financial crisis, numerous government policies were enforced. A recession usually last 6 to 18 months and interest rate fall to stimulate the economy. During a recession, people tend not to spend, borrow, but to save money because of a fall in confidence. The government initiates an expansionary fiscal policy which involves increasing stimulus government spending and cutting taxes. However, the question is can increased stimulus spending help end the recession. The first article, Increased Stimulus Spending Can Help End the Recession by Lawrence H. Summers, argues that for a successful economic recovery, the US government must pursue measures that increase confidence, borrowing, and spending (Summers 1). Summers alleges that the reason why recession keeps on is because of lack of demand. An increase in spending to increase demand is the cure, even though too much spending was part of a cause in recession. Summers defined a recession as: Recessions are times when there is too ... • 9. Confederate Flag Is America s Swastika Confederate Flag In The Hill, a top U.S. political magazine, in June 2015, Contributor H. A. Goodman wrote, The Confederate flag is indeed America s swastika. In the same way the Jewish community sees the swastika as a painful reminder of the Holocaust, the African American community perceives the flag as a reminder of slavery and racial discrimination. The Confederate flag, a relic of the devastating Civil War, has become one of the most controversial and contentious icons in American history. The debate over the flying of the Confederate flag is in regard to the Southern Civil War ideals of slavery and white racial superiority that historians have agreed the flag represents. Supporters of the Confederate flag argue that as a symbol of Southern pride, honor, and character, the flag is a reminder of the South s distinctive and rich history. Opponents of the flag contend that rather than a symbol of southern bravery, the Confederate flag symbolizes the racist, hateful ideas of the Confederacy. The Confederate flag, a clear symbol of white superiority, prejudice, and slavery, should not be allowed to be perpetuated by the government in a society where those ideals should be long gone. The discord over the Confederate flag is rooted in wider debate over the causes of the Civil War and the ideals the flag symbolizes. With the high likelihood of Abraham Lincoln winning the 1860 presidential election, many of the Southern States became worried with the very real possibility ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Borderland SOC 248T: Post Soviet ParadoxesRyan Kelley Professor ShevchenkoNovember 16, 2016 Response to The Bulgarian Borderland by L. Melishkevich SUMMARY Main Claim of Paper: Religious divisions in Madan (and other Bulgarian towns in the Rhodope region) are produced by a religious borderland in which individuals grapple with ideological conflict and tension, characterized by Eastern vs. Western influences. Support: Factual information and quotes from Muslim Lives in Eastern Europe; Supportive information (for comparisons) from other books /places examined this semester. CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK (with some complimentary questions) Argument: Pushing back against Ghodsee s notion that Madan is unique due to the combination of its large Muslim populations and the collapse of GORUBSO, the paper builds off past discussions of borderland (with Where the World Ended and Consecution and Social Change) to argue that a religious borderland is responsible for divisions in the Bulgarian Muslim population. I have little critique of the broad argument (I think it s rather brilliant!) BUT I think it suffers from organizational and evidence deficiencies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eyewitness testimonies is evidence given by people who have witnessed an event, such as a robbery. Eyewitness testimonies are useful as they can be used to help identify a criminal and lower the amount of suspects who are included. Police and similar services can use eyewitnesses to narrow down their searches by asking a series of questions about what they have witnessed and also what they believe the suspect looked like, eyewitnesses can also help give information about the actual crime itself and therefore give police more knowledge on the crime. The Fiedler contingency model postulates a leader s style is static; however, God can transform anyone s heart and thus their leadership style. Additionally, the grapevine can be an important tool for employers. As long as each individual chooses to use gossip for honorable purposes, God will bless the workplace. ORIGINAL POST 3 Forum Post 3 Original Post Approaches to Leadership There are many different ways in which individuals lead. Whether implicit or by choice, the style and the way it is applied can lead to success or failure in the workplace. My boss and I approach leadership in completely different ways. While my boss leans toward only a transactional style, specifically Laissez faire, or management by exception, I prefer a combination of transactional and translational styles. According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is the most passive and therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382). Additionally, management by exception is somewhat better, however it remains one of the weakest leadership styles. As the Mafia grew in America, they prospered off illegal gambling and prostitution. It wasn t until 1919 with the ratification of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution that the Mafia really gained power. The 18th amendment banned the distribution and manufacturing of alcoholic beverages in America (Prohibition 2). Although this amendment meant nothing but good, it did the exact opposite to America. While politicians saw an improved nation with this amendment, criminals saw green. Americans now thought drinking as a thrill, it was something illegal that they can do but get away with. It was the rush of getting away with it that made speakeasies so popular. The Evolution of the Motet Essay The Evolution of the Motet The Evolution of the Motet Throughout the history of music, there have been few styles that not only have opened doors to masterwork compositions in their own genres, but have also led the way to other musical techniques over the musical eras and one of these magical music styles is the motet. The motet can easily be confused with other musical structures but what separates the motet from other types of group performance based styles of music is a piece of music in several parts with words. 1 This is the closest definition of motet as can be said without overgeneralization and will operate from the beginning of the 13th century well into the late 16th century and beyond. Some scholars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Medieval motets tended to be isorhythmic; that is, they employed repeated rhythmic patterns in all voices not only the cantus firmus which did not necessarily coincide with repeating melodic patterns. 2 This new isorhythmic principle, brought on mostly by the composer Machaut, was used not only in the tenor voice but also rather with much more freedom in the upper voice parts. The application of discant over a cantus firmus marked the beginnings of this new revolutionary style, the motet, in Western music. The key motet composers in the medieval period were few in number; Phillip de Vitry and Machaut were one of the earliest composers to institute the isorhythmic technique, which set the style for other medieval composers like Willelmus de Winchecumbe. Guillaume de Machaut was a more famous named late medieval composer to institute the discant which caught on in other music styles and only helped to evolve the motet into its later stylings. These composers helped carry the motet to the new Flemish motet style. The Flemish style of motets marked the peak of the motet, in my opinion. She had become like all the other strong, hard, coarse women of poor households. Her hair was badly done, her skirts were awry, her hands were red. Mathilde unfortunately was oblivious at the fact that it took her more energy to pay off the identical necklace than the combine worth of the dress and the original necklace. The industry is unique from other markets around the world specifically from European and U.S. markets. • 56. The Negative Effects Of Cigarettes Cigarettes kill more Americans than suicide, vehicular accidents, alcohol, cocaine, heroin, ADIS, and homicides combined. Cigarettes do not support or benefit the public in a positive way. Cigarettes are filled with thousands of chemicals and are highly addictive. Cigarettes have caused numerous mental and physical problems for smokers and the people who surround them, impacting families, communities and society. Cigarettes and tobaccoshould become an illegal drug in North America. The negative traits of smokingoutweigh the positive traits; tobacco should not be accessible to the public. Smoking kills these two words should be very familiar. The effects of first hand smoke from cigarettes are pathetically publicize, barley educating the public about the dangers and life threatening problems and illness associated with smoking. Although the understanding that smoking cigarettes can kill you has been established in the minds of Americans, the effects of second hand and thirdhand smoke has not. Two thirds of the smoke from a cigarette is not draw in by the smoker, but enters the air and environment around the smoker, this smoke is exactly the same as the third of smoke that was inhaled into the lungs of the smoker. ( Second hand Smoke ) Second and third hand smoke may cause cancers of the larynx (voice box), pharynx (throat), bladder, nasal sinuses, rectum, breast, brain, stomach in adults and brain tumours, lymphoma and leukemia in children. ( Second hand Smoke ) Second hand smoke is the smoke inhaled involuntary by others produced by burning tobacco. Unfortunately second hand smoke has twice the chemicals originate in the direct inhalation of tobacco found in cigarettes. ( Secondhand Smoke ) Non smokers who inhale the polluted air are likely to get many serious diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (emphysema and chronic bronchitis), heart disease, lung cancer, asthma and other diseases. ( Second Hand Smoke ) Third hand smoke can have the same impact as second hand smoke; third hand smoke is the tobacco smoke that gets trapped hair, skin, fabric, carpet, furniture, and toys. Third hand smoke contains the same toxic chemicals as second hand smoke and has the same effect on the body; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Sex Differences In Aggression Analysis Sex differences in aggression has been a very delicate topic over the years. Aggression itself is a very specific behavior. However, when one observes men and women involved in an aggressive behavior, it is more likely that sex differences will be notable. In On the Biological Basis of Sex Differences in Aggression by Todd Tieger, the author critically examined the theoretical and empirical basis for Maccoby and Jacklin s that males are biologically influenced toward aggressive behavior. There are four qualifications examined, which are cross cultural studies of children behavior, the behavioral of nonhuman primates, early learning influences in child development, and sexhormones and aggression. This studies made a great difficulty for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 58. Concrete Paper CONCRETE ASSIGNMNET 1 Concrete Project Report Introduction We were requested to write a report for a client that are looking to build a new parking garage in the Bloemfontein area. The client also requsted from us to not just advise him/her on what type of concrete to be used, but also to give him/her a broad understanding of the different types of concrete . Some of the aspects that will be discussed in this report are as follows: 1.Special concrete and its application 2.Admixtures 3.Types of extenders This report will also contain our detailed recommendation in the form of foundation, floor slabs, columns and beams. It is important to look at the soil conditions and weather conditions for example temperature and other factors that could have an negative effect on the concrete. Before doing the design and classifying the concrete to be used a site investigation should be done and testes required should be carried out. The design has a massive impact on the concrete that would be used. For the purpose of this report I would assume a site with good soil and no clayed partials were found. Before we start we should get a better understanding of what concrete is its positives and negatives its strengths and its weaknesses. Strength of concrete is dependent on a number of factors; one of the most important factors is the cement water ratio. The lower the ratio is, the higher the final strength of the concrete would be. Typical values for this ratio ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 59. Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and Charles Darwin were... Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and Charles Darwin were two of the most notable evolutionary scientists in history. While Lamarck was known for his theory of inheritance by acquired characteristics, Darwin was also respectfully known for his theory of evolution by natural selection. While they did share some similar beliefs, they also disagreed on important aspects of evolutionas well. The parallels and dissimilarities between the two theories can be highlighted by looking at the Trichobatrachus robustas, better known as the horror/hairy frog. The horror frog is native to the West coast area of Central Africa and belongs to the family Arthroleptidae. This frogs remarkable ability other than to grow hair on its body is to break the bones on their hind feet and to thrust a sharp claw through their skin. The claw is settled inside a mass of connective tissue. A chunk of collagen forms a bond between the claw s sharp point and a small piece of bone at the tip of the frog s toe, (NewScientist, 2008). David Blackburn of Harvard s Museum of Comparative Zoology says that claws are not coated in keratin, like all other known claws in the vertebrae world, (Science Blogs, 2008). When the frog is threatened, they flex a muscle that connects to the lower half of the claw. This severs the connection to a nodule and pulls the claw downward. The claw which is made of reinforced and thickened bone, pierces the frog s own skin and through the skin of the toe, (National Geographic, 2008). David ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 60. Dream Closet Teamwork During my time volunteering with Dream Closet I have learned so much about team work. In order for our team to provide a big event for those in need to receive free donated clothes we need to be able to work as a whole. There is so much to do in order to have an event this big. We need to be able to fundraise together, have donation events, and be able to work together and find time to sort clothes. This is besides the fact of promoting our organization, planning meetings, getting decorations, design of the event, getting all the small things, and more. Teamwork is important with such a small group of girls to have a successful event was that each girl needed to take control weather that meant promoting, making signs, searching for sponsors, ...
