Salvador Dali Distinctively Visual
Salvador Dali was born on May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Spain. (Biography) As a child, Salvador
produced high quality pieces of art. Salvador s family had recognized his talent and supported him
throughout his childhood. His family was so highly supportive of his talents that they even built him a
studio, where he continued to practice his talent. His early childhood consisted of mainly art practice,
which led to studying in a academy in Madrid, Spain. Though, his time in the academy was short
lived, due to many interferences with professors and behavior issues, eventually being expelled. In the
early 1920 s, Dali decided to travel to Paris and worked and learned from artists like Picasso, Magritte
and Miro. Working with such artists led to Dali s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From late 1920 s to late 1930 s, Dali produced paintings that made him a well known surrealist artist.
Salvador Dali is mainly known for his artwork of The Persistence of Memory, this piece of art shows
graphics of melting pocket watches in a empty desert landscape. The scene consists of pocket washes
without their chains melting on top of rocks and branches. The background is of a mountain sized rock
to the right of the ocean, appearing in front of the sunset. The painting also appears in half sunlight
and half shadow. This is an example of his painting technique. Dali frequently used the philosophy of
hard and soft in his paintings. (Totally History) The melting watches refers to time being flowing and
endless, and the rocks represent the reality of life and the ocean symbolizes the vastness of the earth.
(Totally History) There is also a orange clock covered with ants, this is to convey the decay of time or
death.(Totally History) This is a complicated piece of art to comprehend and no one will ever be able
to fully understand the piece of art besides the man himself, Salvador Dali. There has been many
interpretations and analysis of The Persistence of Memory, but Dali never himself interpreted or
explained his work. (Totally

Leadership Skills And Practices Of Leadership Essay
1. Leadership is defined by several principles of knowledge, applied knowledge and results. Oxford
Dictionary defined leadership simply as, the action of leading a group of people or an organization .
The Coast Guard sets a great store on the concept and application of leadership skills and practices.
The service begins training the enlisted workforce leadership skills at the most basic level in boot
camp, with primary focus on followership, team building and effective communications; all of which
are elements for leadership. We place such a store on leadership the Coast Guard created the
Leadership Development Center (LDC) with a primary focus on training leadership to the enlisted and
officer workforce. The LDC created the enlisted leadership continuum which brings us the Apprentice
Leadership Program, Leadership and Management School, Chief Petty Officer s Academy, Senior
Enlisted Leadership Academy.
2. Working for over two decades in the Coast Guard I have had the privilege to serve and work
alongside great leaders. Ironically, some of the best lessons learned were from leaders who were the
antithesis to what I call inspired leadership . Due in large part to less than positive experiences, I
became somewhat of an authoritarian basing my perceived leadership skills to my professional power
base and developed a rather draconian leadership style. This style worked well for me to accomplish
goals assigned to my work force but it left something to be desired for

Wage Discrimination Among Actors And Actresses
Since before women earned the right to vote, there has always been a demand for men and women to
work as an actor in the film industry. Their ability to captivate, move, and inspire earned them
recognition as movie stars. This rich history of stars, ranging from Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton
to Mary Pickford and Julia Roberts has seemingly been gender neutral. However, the question of wage
discrimination among actors and actresses is often not a point of discussion. Perhaps this is because
the public knows how well movie starts are paid, which begets the question, are actors and actress
rewarded differently?
When skimming the literate, the first point of interest is Forbes Magazine s list of the top paid actors
and actresses of that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, there seems to be a huge discrepancy between how actors and actresses fair at the box
office. This is reinforced when looking at the average box office figures. Ten actors have averaged
figures over $100 million while only two actresses managed to reach that milestone. If an actors and
actresses are paid based upon their box office power, it would seem that actors are better at selling
movie tickets relative to actresses. However, these figures might be a result of the types of roles
offered to men and women.
In order to examine gender discriminatory pay practices in Hollywood, there needs to be a comparison
between men and women performing the same exact job. In cinema, it could be the case that actors
and actresses are simply not working in exactly the same industry. Since they are not playing the same
character, and the fact that film offers different genres by which actors and actresses are defined
within, the pay difference may be due to the variation between roles. An action star generally gets paid
more relative to a melodramatic role, and throughout the history of Hollywood, men usually occupy
the role of big action star. Men like John Wayne, Tom Cruise, Cary Grant, Humphry Bogart, James
Cagney, and Arnold Schwarzenegger receive salary benefits because they are generational icons,
starring in big budget, high grossing films. There are certainly examples of female action stars, like

Charles Manson Compare And Contrast
Charles Manson early life was complicated with the fact that when Manson was born his mother was a
16 year old, unmarried, Manson s biological father was speculated to be Colonel Walker Scott though,
young lady name Kathleen Maddox and after such said birth Manson was already called Charles
Milles Maddox. At the age of 8 Manson was sent to a school called the National Training School for
Boys by his mother who he ran back to after run away from the school, but his mother wanted nothing
to do with him. Soon after Manson started living on the streets and lived by doing petty crimes that
would lead him to juvenile. By 1951, Manson was considered dangerous and a model prisoner in

(Florez). With this being said, this goal is similar to what Grenouille and Manson wanted, to be
remembered even after death. Grenouilles goal was to require the ultimate scent to be accepted by his
town or anywhere else he goes. Mansons goal was to let the world be shocked by the crimes that he
and his group committed. Perhaps that this trait does influence serial killers to kill freely, but when
doing such acts the question someone must ask is the murderer regret what they have done? If
someone has killed another person for a reason, for example self defense, then that is a common
murder to report, but in Grenouilles and Mansons case they did not report the murder because they felt
as though that killing the victim was necessary. Psychopaths tend to not feel any emotion that is
related to guilt... (Uncategorized). In Perfume the killings that Grenouille committed goes beyond of
what Manson has done up until both of their deaths. However, the reason why they killed in the first
place do compare because of their childhood with the way they were both raised and how society has
treated them. Although their stories before they became serial killers are similar, there is not anything
else to compare the two on because Grenouille was smart, sneaky, and worked by himself with each
kill when Manson on the other hand trusted individuals to kill with him and those same individuals

Warleggen s Waiver Case Study
Warleggen s waiver is valid under public policy because it clearly, unambiguously, and unmistakably
informed the Poldarks of what was being waived. The injuries sustained by the Poldarks are consistent
with those injuries covered within the waiver they signed prior to spelunking. The waiver covers Mr.
Poldark s injuries within the RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPELUNKING . . . language of the
text.
A waiver must clearly, unambiguously, and unmistakably inform a signer of what is being waived.
Atkins v. Swimwest Family Fitness Ctr., 2005 WI 4 ¶ 18. A waiver must be unambiguous as to which
rights are waived. Yauger v. Skiing Enterprises, INC., 206 Wis. 2d 76, 557 N.W.2d 60. A waiver may

Warleggen s waiver distinguishes itself from the waiver in Roberts in that Warleggen s waiver
includes activity leading up to spelunking and cave tours, like the car or van travel to and from the site
, while also including the phrase ordinary negligence directly in the types of risks that are included in
spelunking. In Roberts, it was unclear to the court if the waiver covered activities before and after
entering the hot air balloon. Unlike in Brooten, Warleggen s waiver does not followed the term
negligence with OR ANY OTHER CAUSE. Warleggen s decision to omit that phrase precludes the
possibility for an overly broad interpretation, like construing the waiver to release incidents involving
recklessness and intentional conduct. If the waiver was overly broad and extended beyond ordinary
negligence, the clause would be invalid under public policy. The waiver also includes ... ALL RISK[S]
ASSOCIATED WITH SPELUNKING OR CAVING EXCURSION..., which would seem to cover
reckless or intentional conduct, but the sentence preceding it describes what spelunking or caving
excursion activities are and clearly states only ordinary negligence is included. The waiver sets out the
common activities included in spelunking and cave excursions, while also specifically covering the
activities that are common to spelunking. Furthermore, the waiver language Risks include, but are not
limited to. . . advised the Poldarks that there were other risks to contemplate, distinguishing itself from
the Atkins waiver which made it difficult to ascertain what was in the plaintiff s and the defendant s
contemplation. Warleggen s waiver is clear as to what is covered; it is unambiguous as to what key
terms mean; and it is unmistakable as to the injuries suffered by the Poldarks and the injuries that are
covered. Since the waiver meets the requirements set forth,

Wasted Time In High School
Emily Sellers
Composition 1301 332
Mrs. Kinkead
24 September 2017 Wasted time in High School
Public high schools tend to waste a lot of time in class doing things that aren t related to school at all.
It has been reported that in many schools, teachers make students do chores for them for extra credit
points, while others are learning new things. Jay Mathews wrote A startling waste of precious
classroom time, published in 2014 in the Washington Post, and he argues that so much time is wasted
in low income schools due to teachers and it makes it very difficult for students to learn in that
environment. Mathews begins to establish pathos by stating the names of two girls that go to Compton
High School and want to learn, but their school is unable to give them the education they desire.
Mathews established ethos a little later in his article by stating facts about programs he has
encountered with inner city schools; however, toward the end of his article, he uses facts to establish
logos, which is the appeal of logic, while stating that schools have been sued because low income
students have not been given the right education.
Mathews explains that Wasting time is common in the nation s low income schools. Class schedules
can be a mess at the beginning of the year, forcing students to wait days in the library for their
assignments (Mathews). Mathews establishes ethos through stating the facts of wasted time in low
income schools. Mathews states that at Compton High

History Of The Omaha Tribe
The Plains Indians tribe that I chose to research was the Omaha Tribe. The Omaha Tribe lived near
present day Nebraska and parts of Iowa; however, the Omaha Tribe is most known for being native to
Nebraska. This tribe is still on a reservation in Macy, Nebraska today. This tribe is in Nebraska
because when the Europeans arrived to North America, they drove out the Omaha Tribe along with
many other Plains Indians Tribes. Today, the Omaha Tribe consists of around 6,000 members. The
Omaha Tribe was a unique tribe mainly because of what they practiced. The Omaha Tribe practiced
polygamy, which was the practice of one man having multiple spouses. In the Omaha Tribe, the
maximum number of wives that a man could have was three. Their [the Omaha Tribe] religion was
associated with the practice of medicine, and with their war customs, and with their gentile systems
(https://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/omaha tribe.htm). Originally, the Omaha Tribe commonly
lived in bark longhouse villages. However, they then started to become accustomed more to living in
tepees, and that is what they mostly still live in today.
Only men were selected to lead the tribe until 1880. Men from the Omaha Tribe commonly wore
leggings and buckskin shirts with breechcloth. The wore moccasins on their feet. However, in colder
weather, they made long robes out of buffalo hide and wore them in the cold. The shirts were usually
fringed and dirty. The women of the Omaha tribe wore clothes made from buckskin

The World Of A Plane Crash
In September of 2004, Lost first aired on ABC. The drama series about people stranded on an island
after a plane crash, had elements of science fiction that J.J Abrams used to captivate millions every
episode. The series starts by introducing the main characters, Jack and Kate, and their personal
backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series progresses, characters
once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single episode and shed light on
topics never previously thought about. The 23rd Psalm, the tenth episode in season two, demonstrates
this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic of the series is toned down to
bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria. The 23rd Psalm attempts to inform
people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has affected the lives of many who live there,
what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of influence drug trafficking has around the world. The
episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje) finding out that Charlie Pace (Dominic
Monaghan) has in his possession a Virgin Mary statue. Eko demands to see the statue only to break in
open and revealing the heroin inside. Eko then demands that Charlie take him to the location where he
found the statue, which happens to be a small plane crash site farther inland on the island. The plane
appears to be a Nigerian Beechcraft that has already fallen off of a cliff, killing

A Comparison of Moral Conflict in Antigone and A Doll s...
Conflict Between Individual Morals and State Laws in Antigone and A Doll s House
Mother, should I trust the government? Or should I trust myself? This dilemma is a common one in a
great deal of literature. In Antigone and A Doll s House, the main theme is the question of whether one
should be true to oneself or true to one s state or society. Should Nora (in A Doll s House) and
Antigone (in Antigone) follow the rules and do what the state and society want them to do or should
they follow their own consciences? Both plays address the conflict between individual morals and
state laws, obedience and disobedience, and understanding oneself.
Antigone shows the contrast between state law and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the state and state laws to exist there have to be the people too. The state depends on the people
and not just the ruler.
Haemon: A one man state? What sort of a state is that?
Creon: Why, does not every state belong to its ruler?
Haemon: You d be an excellent king on a desert island (Sophocles page #).
Haemon questions whether Creon s judgements are correct or not (above). For Antigone the divine
law is what should be used instead of the state law, which is defined only by what the king wants.
Therefore should Haemon and Antigone oppose the state law? The king makes up the main part of the
state, and decides whether the laws he makes are fair, and do not object to these laws otherwise he
wouldn t be king. Some may think that it is wrong that people should oppose the state s laws, and
should just follow them, but then they will never get to have their own beliefs and never have a better
understanding of themselves in the end.
In Antigone there is the state and its laws, but in A Doll s House we see more of the society, and the
laws it enforces on the individual. The society s rules prevent the characters from seeing and
expressing their true nature. When Krogstad tells Nora that the law takes no account of good motives,
she cries, Then they must be very bad laws (Ibsen page #). This causes a problem for the main female
characters, in deciding if

Essay On Being A Stage Manager
Next on my list was a regional stage manager, Ruth Kramer. Ruth is based out of New York, however
her last job was in Pittsburgh. As of right now Ruth is between adventures as she so cheerfully put it.
However, the last show she worked on was Equus. Equus was a big show, and the hardest part was
keeping the actors safe. The men played horses, so they had horse masks and hooves which made it
difficult to see and walk around on stage. As for Ruth, the hardest part was learning the text and
material, because this show was about psychology so she had to research to fully understand the
production. Besides that, she said that everything else went well during the show. However, her
director decided to leave for a week instead of the 2 days ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The longest she has been without work will be 4 months, which would be from this November to

committees she does not need a retail job while she is between jobs. She thinks if you cannot go a few
weeks or even months with our having a job than this is not a business you should be in. Ruth s advice
simply boiled down to you have to absolutely love it if you want to do it. She said this, there is influx
of stage managers and an outflow of jobs . If you find out when you start you are not good, do not do
this as your job. And lastly if you choose to do this you have to be able to want to stage manage
anything. After talking to Ruth, it was put into perspective that I cannot have any doubts about being a
stage manager. My last interview was with a Halloween Horror Nights stage manager, Madalyn
Musser. Madalyn was an assistant stage manager on the Bill and Ted Show at Halloween Horror
Nights this past season. She also oversees certain sections of entertainment for holiday events at
Universal. She said the hardest part of working at Universal as a whole is the politics. The
environment is very competitive, you always have to do your best to be put on another event. The
easiest part is making great connections, because the more shows you work the more people will
recognize you. Madalyn, along with every other stage

Regulating the New Zealand Electricity Industry
Laws 437 Research and Writing Topic #2: The application of the Commerce Act to the electricity
industry Regulating the New Zealand electricity industry no longer just Ohm s law Emily Wu
Electricity is a problematic commodity. Unlike other goods and services be those vaccines, education
or tennis rackets the life of electricity is transient and without technology capable of storing it, supply
must meet demand instantaneously. Due to the inherently unreliable nature of demand forecasts (e.g.
an unexpected cold front leads to a demand spike as people turn on their heaters), the grid must also
have the capacity to reach peak demand at all times. In addition to these complicated physical
problems, the location of New Zealand s largest demand centres compared largest generation centres
means there are several infrastructural issues as well. This essay will briefly examine the industry s
regulatory history and discern how the Commerce Act 1986 fits into this regulatory context. The
ability of Part 2 to control generators in net pivotal situations will also be briefly scrutinized. Structure
of the industry The electricity industry can be split 4 ways: 1. Generation: converting other energy
sources (e.g. coal) into electrical energy. 2. Transmission: transferring electricity to local substations.
3. Distribution: delivers electricity from transmission system to consumers. 4. Retail: companies who

Unnatural Behavior Research Paper
In order to properly answer and understand this first question, we must examine the true meaning of
natural and unnatural. Depending on different cultures or even different regions of the world, the
meaning of natural behavior may differ. In a modern society, I would say that unnatural behaviors are
those that target the life of another human in any form. In other words, behaviors like murder, terrorist
arrangements, child abuse, etc are done in order to place another life at risk of survival. For example,
the concept of cannibalism is thought to be immoral as it risks the safety and survival of human beings
among each other. However, there are still people that practice this ritual. In previous tribal

In order to have morals an individual must have specific aspects in their human nature. For example, it
is immoral to kill others; hence, it must be human nature to avoid murder. But, why do we have crimes
and such a high murder rate. Furthermore, it depends on each person. If it is in your human nature to
be a good person and help others, then your morality is related to your human nature. Good morals
enables humans to shape their personality and to an extent predict their future endearments. For
example, as we grow older we know to talk with manners, to be respectable, and listen when someone
else is talking. Furthermore, we grow more and learn to not cheat and to be kind to elders and young
children. These are morals we learn to abide to, but also become human nature. Whereas, if an
individual has an evil, harmful human nature, then their morality is also related to that and those are
the people that hurt and kill others.
Therefore, yes we need to know about human beings in order to know how to treat them morally.
These two concepts of human nature and morality are related and cannot be discusses

Analysis Of Sonnet 130
Poetry is a form of writing in where the author expresses his or her emotions through style and
rhythm. There is no one specific reason why people like poetry. Not only is poetry personal, it can also
be deeply emotional to people, as poems can bring back memories and experiences that have
resonated throughout the reader s life. Love poetry is not only deeply emotional for people, but it s
something most people can relate to as most people will experience some form of love throughout
their life. Easily the most famous poet in history, Shakespeare, had many thoughts on love, and many
of his poems invoke this emotion. Sonnet 130 specifically is thought provoking and much more
relatable than other poems of the 1600 s, and like most of Shakespeare s sonnets, this poem is an
expression of love. This is due to the fact that Shakespeare does not make the woman in the poem out
to be some sort of goddess. In telling his mistress that he loves her, our speaker also has to give us an
idea about what his love is like. He is stating who and what she is, and that at the end of the day, his
love is not only beautiful, but unique, exclusive and rare.
Sonnet 130 was written during the 1600 s. Many poets during this time stylised their lover or whomst
ever they were writing about as divine and perfect in everyway. Sonnet 130 is considered by many to
make a mockery of this. This sonnet compares the speaker s lover to a number of other beauties, and
never in the lover s favor. In the first

The Musuo Of Chin Matrilineal Kinship
The Musuo of China: Matrilineal Kinship The practice of matrilineal kinship is considered a myth by
some cultures, but it is indeed very real for the Musuo of China. Matrilineality is the practice of linear
descent through the ancestry of females. Many Western civilizations have a misconception of what is
considered normal on a global scale, but many practices do, in fact, differ widely between different
cultures. To illustrate this, the Musuo s traditions and values in regards to marriage and family are
based solely on matrilineal kinship, while America s melting pot ideation encourages unilineal
descent, in which the ancestry line can be traced to the wife and/or the husband. In the paper I will
discuss the cultural nature of the Musuo, and the way that marriage and family norms in Musuo differ
from the typical American ideation of family. One indication that Musuo traditions differ from the
American culture in terms of marriage is the lack of a formal union between wife and husband, as well
as the American idea of father and child. According their article Land of the Walking Marriage (2000),
Lu Yuan and Sam Mitchell explain that Musuo fathers do not raise their own children, but instead
cater to their sister s children s needs. American cultural norms include the belief that blood relatives
have a biological attachment to each other, which makes this type of kinship unacceptable to many
conservative minded Americans. Moreover, the dynamics of marital behavioral

Comparison Of Magazines And Men s Health
Women s Health and Men s Health are magazines that generally revolve around appearances. Both
magazines advertise sex tricks or benefits, ways to improve your health, and the most numerous topic
being techniques or plans to lose weight. Along the lines of losing weight, both magazines make a
point to specifically address the desire for toned abs. These magazines target men and women
professionals probably ranging from late 20s to mid 40s. The intended audiences of these magazines
are responsible for the majority of purchases that sustain and determine our society s economy. I chose
these magazines because their audiences have a significant impact on the progression of culture.
Therefore, the common necessity of exercise is presented in a way to persuade readers to agree with
their beliefs or buy a product or plan being advertised. Another reason I chose these magazines is
because I know they are commonly read and a popular magazine to buy. My own mother buys Women

Classical, Biological And Psychological Theories
Early classical, biological and psychological theories have helped shape the burgeoning world of
criminology. Many of the ideas they held were unique, however, some key principles are still in use by
there modern counterparts. Classical psychological theories, focused on two main concepts;
personality and behaviorism. Personality theories helped improve cognitive sciences and behaviorism
called attention to social learning with a focus on behavioral conditioning. For example, Ivan Pavlov,
a prominent researcher, demonstrated that behavior can be changed by changing conditions associated
with the behavior. Personality theories and behavioral conditioning worked, in conjunction, to form
the classical psychological theory. (Schmalleger, p.82). This theory attempted to adapt the disease
model , which analysts hoped would identify the key elements that provoked mental and emotional
issues. (Schmalleger, p.82) Researchers in this field used terms like, mental disease, personality
disorder and psychopath to try and define individuals suffering from these mental aliments. However,
contemporary psychologists have chosen to modify their main focus. In other words, contemporary
analysts have one main study of focus for the people that suffer from mental ailments,
psychopathology. For example, current psychologists suggest that depression, schizophrenia,
alcoholism, ADHD, and psychopathy are all mental alignments associated with psychopathology;
psychopathy has been noted as the

The New York City Subway System
The New York City Subway System has an extremely rich and detailed history that dates to the late
nineteenth century. Before the system that the public currently takes advantage of when they visit New
York City, there were an extensive amount of public transportation options that were available to the
general public. For example, horse and carriages, omnibuses, and trolley systems were all used as a
means of transportation throughout the nineteenth century. Once the idea for a subway system to be
built was introduced, most people did not believe that it was possible. However, they were soon
proven wrong after Alfred E. Beach secretly built the first subway system that was used in New York
City. Once people saw that subterranean travel was a viable means of transportation, it did not take
long until the subway system that is used today to come along. The New York City subway system
revolutionized the way the general public traveled throughout the city, and inspired other growing
cities to build subterranean travel systems of their own. In 1827, Abraham Bower created the first
public transportation route that was used in New York City. Bower used a twelve seat stage coach,
called Accommodation , that ran its riders along Broadway Street from the Battery down to Bleecker
Street. While this was not the most comfortable of rides due to the rough roads, it was still popular by
the public. By 1831, due to its popularity, Bower had added two more stage coaches called Sociable

the author, Edgar Allan Poe, begins with the narrator of the poem, a young man mourning the loss of

In stanza 14, the narrator says, Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore! This
allusion to Greek mythology shows that the author will use something to forget the pain of losing
Lenore. In this poem, the nepenthe is a book of folklore. The narrator thinks that if he reads his books,
it will end the suffering he is experiencing. Another example is in stanza 17, the poem reads, Take thy
beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door! These metaphors convey that the raven
has told the narrator something he does not want to believe and demands him to leave immediately.
The raven tells the narrator he will never be able to hold Lenore again, not even in Heaven, which
enrages the narrator. The use of Poe s figurative language has revealed his sadness and sorrow he has
for Lenore. The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe has become well known over the years for its sad and
mysterious plot. It was developed and supported with the help of imagery, word choice, and figurative
language, which helped establish the theme. The use of a raven gives the reader an eerie feel when
reading the poem. The symbol of the raven, which is used to imply death and grief, reveals the sorrow
the narrator has for the death of his beloved Lenore. The narrator s encounter with the raven causes
him to realize that Lenore is never coming

How Did Indian Ocean Trade Dbq
From 600 to 1450 CE, trade thrived through the Indian Ocean trade routes. Large and powerful states
provided security for merchants and travelers, allowing them to follow these routes with ease. While
the spread of goods and ideas along the Indian Ocean trade routes remained constant, the states
controlling them changed, leading to the creation of new states and the addition of European
participation in this network.
At the beginning of this time period, Malay sailors began riding monsoons to go to China and India.
This led to the passing of knowledge to others as well as making connections with various people. The

3 Things to Consider when Buying a Pedicure Chair for a Nail Salon Manicures and pedicures used to
be services offered by all beauty salons. However, as this industry evolved, it is now very common to
find salons that are dedicated solely to nail care. The main reasons why these salons are preferred by
customers is due to the fact that they keep up with the latest nail design trends, and they use the most
modern nail care equipment. The pedicure chair is perhaps the most important piece of equipment for
such a salon, as its quality can make the pedicure experience more enjoyable for the customer. So, if
you own a nail salon, you need to be very careful when buying this chair. Here are the main factors
that you need to consider! 1. The manufacturer As a rule of thumb, it is always advised to buy from a
local manufacturer. This way, if the product breaks, you can easily find replacement parts. Moreover,
the products produced in the USA tend to be of higher quality than the ones produced overseas. If you
are looking for a recommendation, consider J A USA. They have been on the market for over 10 years,

Compare and Contrast Excalibur to Malory:
Introduction
Le Morte d Arthur is the cautiously assembled fable of the fluctuation of this legendary English
monarchy. Which like most kingdoms in that era; are suspect to fall due to domestic and foreign forces
that pledge to destroy them. This myth s power come from Malory s electoral allusion s, such as the
introduction of Arthur s rule and Henry s rule over the kingdom. The relevance for any civilization or
the focus of which forces are necessary to end the kingdom s reign by way of Malory s uninviting
perspective. The fable is held together by its undeviating philosophy of doom and terror as well as the
portrayal of complex personalities. Compare
Arthur, is the son of King Uther and is raised by another family. Who soon takes his rightful place as
king. As a young lad, Arthur extracts the magical sword Excalibur from the stone and rules his
kingdom wisely. He also seeks and utilizes counsel from Merlin the magician. He is considered a great
king, but is often caught in battles or at war with other Kings. Once Arthur marries Genevere and is
given the Round Table , which seats 150 merry men. Genevere s honorable mannerism acts as a moral
compass for the men at the Round Table. She was fair and impartial when compensating or penalizing
the knights. However, just like most fables the treachery comes from within the kingdom. With

Corporate Incentives for Hedging and Hedge Accounting
Abstract
The aim of this term paper is to supply an analysis on the rationales for corporations to apply hedging
and hedge accounting. In order to do so, P. M. DeMarzo and D. Duffie s paper Corporate Incentives
for Hedging and Hedge Accounting published 1995 will be reviewed and analysed.
This term paper will start with a short review of the literature on corporate risk management and
hedging policies and then move on to a description of the model developed by DeMarzo and Duffie
and its rationale. Then, their findings and propositions will be presented followed by the conclusion.

In 2008, Muller and Verschoor, published a study on 471 non financial European firrms from the UK,
Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. In this study they aim to investigate the informational effect of
disclosing derivative positions. It is an interesting matter since European firms did not disclose any of
this information until 1990. The study focuses on the usage of foreign exchange derivatives while also
investigating the condition in which a firm decides to employ these instruments and to which extent.
Even though they have found evidence of the firms using derivatives, their study presented weak
results in terms of informative effect of derivative position disclosure.
Model
DeMarzo and Duffie build a model in their paper in order to illustrate the relationship between
investors, accounting information and managers incentive. It involves other factors such as the choice
between accounting and economic risk hedging, derivative position disclosure, firm reputation and
volatility of managers future wages. To illustrate their interaction consider the following graph:

The O 1 Bird Dog Essay
The O 1 Bird Dog The First World War clearly demonstrated that airplanes had a promising career in
warfare. With rapid development creating larger, faster and more capable aircraft the task of putting
their munitions on target became increasingly complex and called for a new type of control. In March
of 1942 FM 31 35 defined the role of the Air Ground Cooperation Parties (AGCP) (Farmer
Strumwasser, 1967). The role of the AGCP was to coordinate airborne fires in support of ground units
and the AGCP cell was assumed to be located with the headquarters element, usually detached from
the front line (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). Through continued evolution of the AGCP concept the
observer was moved further from the headquarters and placed on or near the front lines to provide
immediate tactical control of airborne fires platforms. The AGCP concept proved to be so effective
that it continued development through the Second World War and into the Korean War. With the
predominance of close air support aircraft located far away at Itazuki Air Base in Japan during the
Korean War a ground based controller was ineffective at identifying targets for the pilots to engage
before they needed to return for fuel (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). This led to the airborne Forward
Air Controller (FAC). Flying a small maneuverable craft at low levels airborne FAC s could easily
pick out targets unseen from ground level and quickly vector or lead attack planes to them for
engagement. The

Progressivism And The Progressive Era

corruption in the government, authority, politics, and economics is still being fought to this day. While
some ideals have faded away, like prohibition, the progressives and progressive era shaped America

Progressivism started as a grassroots movement. While it began at the bottom and made many state

According to Bell (2012), the most probable outcomes of in group favoritism in jobs is the hiring,
promoting, and rewarding of members of the particular group by peers belonging to the same group.
The exclusion of the members of the out groups, the minority out group members are sidelined while
the members of the dominant group will be favored. In most cases, the members of non dominant out
groups are minorities and women, social categorization often work hostile to them by negatively
affecting their opportunities for jobs, promotion, attaining high status job positions among other
advantages that are open to men as well as for the Whites (Podsiadlowski et al., 2013). Non whites
and women mostly have insignificant power in the organization thus any favor they may get is less
probable to disadvantage the members of in groups. The existence of in group bias where people will
likely select demographically similar individuals is a clear presentation of favoritism, which can be
damaging for any organization. The behaviors of the members of these two groups are often judged
differently. For instance, a white who shows of being in charge is seen positively while a black which
shows the same is seen as oppressive (Bell, 2012). With in group favoritism, the minorities and

Biofuels And Alternative Sources Of Energy
Introduction Biofuels, derived from living organisms rather than petroleum laden rock, are the focus
of current energy research. The need for biofuels and alternative sources of energy will be necessary
as the earth s resources begin to diminish. In cohesion with this concern, the current uses of fossil
fuels are a concern as the environment pays an incredible toll for our overuse of this resource. Many
have attempted to replace petroleum fuel with the first generation biofuels would require diverting
farmland and crops for biofuel production, causing economic and ethical problems and competing
with world food supply (Zhang et. al., 2011). The production of these biofuels have a negative effect
on the environment, as a backdrop of rising crude oil prices, depletion of resources, and political
instability in producing countries, only biomass has the potential to replace the supply of an energy
hungry civilization (Antoni et. al., 2007). This is proof that it is crucial to begin to create biofuels that
have a lesser negative impact that can sustain the energy demands that we have today. Currently, as
seen in the table, microbes have been proven to produce ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen, which are all
sources that can be used for producing renewable fuels. Due to their limited demands on the
environment they prove to be an excellent candidate for a successful biofuel.
Many of the biofuels produced from microbes are done so by varying organic pathways in order to

Furthermore, the jurors made significant inferences that assured them the defendant was guilty. An
individual makes an inference when they conclude an argument by analyzing evidence and by

addition, the messenger and the architect inferred that the witnesses testimonies were tangible

Impact of Big Business on Politics and the Economy Essay
After the Civil war, large businesses ruled America. Prior to the industrial revolution, the government
upheld a hands off approach towards business. Under the laissez faire principle, free, unregulated
markets led to competition, yet this system suffered under the wrath of growing corporations. The
impact of big business on the economy and politics was immense during 1870 to 1899. Corporations
were growing significantly in number and size, which had a domineering affect on American economy
and defined American life. The growing corporations in America dominated most of the economy,
creating a large gap between the rich and the poor. During this time period food, lightening, and fuel
prices declined significantly, and the cost of living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This illustrates that the Senate is controlled by big business, and how easily wealthy people had power
over the government. Moreover, the railroad presidents were seen as kings, they could delay lawsuits,
control the government and the people, corrupt communities, and control the press (DOC B).
Important railroad companies dictated government policies because the legal system favored railroad
interests. Further, trying to better the political system, the Populist Party made themselves known.
Their platform demanded that the government be restored to the hands of the plain people. They
wanted to end oppression, injustice, and poverty (DOC F). Evidently, they were dedicated to political
and social reform, and urged that the government be strengthened and take responsibility of the
people. The harsh working conditions resulting from industrialization drove laborers to organize into
unions. Economist David A. Wells compares working in a factory to working in the military because
workers are taught to perform one single task. Moreover, manufacturing has largely taken away
workers pride in their work (DOC C). Mass production techniques led to specialization of labor,
which subsequently decreased workers pride in their craft, as well as left workers largely unskilled.
Further Samuel Gompers, founder of the AF to L, addressed the International Labor Congress in
Chicago and stated that people should not be considered property. He advocated that labor

Hope In The Age Of Anxiety Analysis
I hope that you are right! I hope that things get better! I hope he is the one! We use this word hope so
loosely but what does it really mean. Hope is expectation with confidence and to cherish a desire with
anticipation. Though this is the formal definition, hope goes much deeper than what is on the surface.
In the book, Hope in the Age of Anxiety , by Anthony Scioli and Henry Biller they proclaim that,
Hope is a very basic human strength without which we couldn t stay alive (25, 26). So you see hope is
not only vital to our daily routine but to our existence as well. Hope is the unseen motivation to carry
us through and keep us connected with day to day life. Which is evident in this quote also from Mr.
Scioli and Mr. Biller, we look for hope to sustain us, whenever and wherever we can (18). For

Hope gives you the confidence you need to feel that anything is achievable. However, Hope needs the
idea of failure to be effective. My belief is followed up by Stan Van Hooft s quote, People will fail to
display the virtue of hope if they lack the confidence and hopefulness to embark on projects whose
success cannot be guaranteed (136). The thing that makes hope so great is that failure is just as evident
as hope is, however, most people look to choose hope to motivate them rather than

The Downfall Of The Romanov Dynasty
In a burgeoning climate of autocracy, the Romanov dynasty was firmly established in the societal
framework of early 20th century Russia. Having been in varying degrees of absolute political control
over an approximate time period of four hundred years, their eventual undoing marked a power shift
polarising the imperial regime laid out by countless Tsars beforehand. Nicholas II, the last Emperor of
Russia, is recognised to have a degree of personal responsibility for the downfall of the Romanovs, yet
the extent to which his decision making skills can be held accountable is questioned by some
historians. Despite this, multiple political, social, and military facets of Nicholas II s reign were
handled with instability, and his perceived lack of legitimacy due to this poor decision making
ultimately was a major causative factor to the downfall of his family s vast dynasty.
Various aspects of Nicholas II s political decisions reflected his clear unsuitability for the role of Tsar,
and these decisions form a preliminary basis for both his own legacy of incompetency the eventual
undoing of the Romanovs. In comparison to rulers preceding, Nicholas was ill prepared for the role:
his father, Alexander III, failed to adequately develop his son s understanding of civil state
responsibilities before his death in 1894, under the guise that he would live long enough to teach
Nicholas of these affairs. Upon his consecration as Tsar, Nicholas spoke in his diary of his

Solomon Asch Conformity Experiments (1951) Essay
In 1951, Solomon Asch carried out several experiments on conformity. The aim of these studies was to
investigate conformity in a group environment situation. The purpose of these experiments was to see
if an individual would be swayed by public pressure to go along with the incorrect answer. Asch
believed that conformity reflects on relatively rational process in which people are pressured to
change their behaviour. Asch designed experiments to measure the pressure of a group situation upon
an individual judgment. Asch wanted to prove that conformity can really play a big role in
disbelieving our own senses. Asch initiated his experiment by making one of the particpants at ease.

and most important concept of this experiment relied on the fact all of the participants were working
together, but for one. They took turns in a fixed order to call out publicly which of three comparison
lines was the same length as a standard line on the left card. In reality only one person was a naive
participant who answered second to last, the rest were experimental confederates instructed to give
erroneous responses. The results were intriguing as there were large individual differences or variation
in responses. However nonetheless what was evident was that 25 percent of participants remained
independent throughout the trials, another 50 percent conformed to the erroneous majority in 6 or

was 33 percent. Asch used quantitative sampling method, which means that a positivist would argue

The Controversy Of Dog Parks
I am a proponent of dog parks. It is my belief that these parks are a wonderful addition to any
community. There are many benefits to having such parks, not just for the animals, but for us as well.
Dogs are social creatures. They need interaction with other dogs. If they do not get the neccessary
socialization, they can become hostile toward other animals, as well as unruly around people. As we
humans need to interact with other humans, these parks are a great place for us bipeds to socialize and
make friends as well. It doesnt take a lot of space to have a dog park. Most cities already have some
peice of ground that is not being used. The dogs just need a little bit of room to run around without the

receives more intense national publicity than many others. It is a testing ground for unorthodox social
theories and an outpost of solid American conservatism (313). Because the state is so large and its
centers of population is so widely scattered, no single generalization about it will suffice for a
historical summary. Nevada, with its 110,000 square miles, would cover more than half of Spain.
Nevada is not the largest state in the Union, but it is big enough to inspire awe in its visitors (2). About
86 percent of the land in Nevada was still under the control of the federal government as the year 2000
opened (3). It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Helldorado Parade was established in Las Vegas in 1935, and defined Las Vegas as a Western
town. Participants dressed up as cowboys and marched up downtown streets to large crowds. After the
El Rancho was established, three more Western Casinos opened for business. In 1941, El Cortez
opened as the first large hotel downtown. The hotel Last Frontier opened on the strip in 1942, and in
1946, the Golden Nugget opened downtown. The one big casino to the Western motif was Benjamin
Siegel s The Flamingo which opened in 1946. Siegel was a mobster with ties to the Chicago and
California networks, envisioned a jewel in the desert. The Flamingo was not a success and was
temporarily closed. It then re opened and had a diverse theme oriented style in the hotel casino
industry in Las Vegas. With the Corporate Gaming Act of 1969, Las Vegas began a slow transition
towards respectability. Gambling in Las Vegas was gaining in popularity in the 1950 s and 1960 s, but
the mob presence itself was preventing Las Vegas from attracting the necessary outside funds to turn it
into a dominant Metropolis (204). Nevada seemed to be shedding this image in favor of the many new
family oriented theme resorts that were being built, especially in Las Vegas (204). Then there s The

Manipulation In Susan Beth Pfeffer s Ashes
Susan Beth Pfeffer s short story Ashes is about a girl named Ashes and her father. Ashes s father tries
to manipulate and convince her to steal $200 from her mother. He is being overly nice and butters her
up to make her steal the money. Ashes starts to contemplate if she should trust her father and take the
money. One lesson emerging from Ashes is that manipulation from someone you should be able to
trust can be harmful. One scene from Ashes uses short sentences to show manipulation from her
father. Her father says, You look radiant. , You get more and more beautiful. , You re one in a million. ,
and I wish I deserved you. This shows that he is buttering Ashes up to steal the money that he later
reveals he needs. He also says that with that money he would be set for life which will make Ashes
more tempted to take the money. In this next scene, Ashes is conversing with her father about the $200
dollars. Ashes offers to help get the $200 dollars. The line Dad smiled like I d offered him the key to
the mint. I love you so much, he said. You re ten thousand times better than I deserve, Ashes reveals
even further that her father is buttering her up to do something. The excerpt I had a thought , he ...

The lines The money s still in the teapot, I said. What do you want to do, Dad? I asked. Come into the
apartment with me and take the money? reveals that Ashes hesitates about the idea and questions her
father. His response, Oh no, he said, and he looked really shocked. I would never steal from your
mother. I ve caused her pain enough. tries to convince Ashes that what he is doing isn t bad and he
wouldn t do something like that. Not only that but the line, And I swear to you, Ashes, I d have the
money in your hands by Friday at the latest. which furthers the idea that manipulation from someone

Comparison Of Diet And Soda Reaction
Mentos and soda reaction has been a fun experiment done by people across the world.
Yes, it is a easy project you can do. You can do it by yourself or with friends but, do you know the
science behind it? Do you know if it is a physical reaction or chemical reaction? The reaction of soda
and Mentos causes a fun explosive outcome but, why? When you drop the the Mentos in the diet soda
it causes carbon dioxide bubbles to form really fast. Then the bubbles form until it forms a geyser. Not
only the bubbles form the sticky and foamy reaction. The ingredients from the Mentos mixed with the
sugar from the diet soda causes the soda too have a lower surface tension. It is hard for bubbles to
form at a high surface tension ( Why Do Diet Coke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Mental Floss, this is their explanation of why diet soda works better. Diet sodas produce
a bigger reaction than non diet sodas because aspartame lowers the surface tension of the liquid much
more than sugar or corn syrup will. You can also increase the effect by adding more surfactants to the
soda when you add the Mentos, like adding a mixture of dishwasher soap and water ( Why Do Diet
Coke and Mentos React? Mental Floss). Why is it a Physical reaction? It is a Physical reaction
because of Nucleation. What causes the reaction of soda and Mentos slow or stops the reaction? To
slow down the experiment a person would have to make sure that the carbon dioxide must escape
from the soda. If that person does not have carbon dioxide in the soda the Mentos will not react to
cause a fun and exciting Physical reaction( education.com. Mentos and Diet Coke Experiment |
Science Project ). What is Nucleation? Nucleation is a form of crystallization.( The Editors of
Encyclopædia Britannica. Nucleation ). In conclusion the soda and Mentos reaction is fun, easy, and
cheap. It is a physical reaction and it is because of nucleation. Remember when doing the experiment
think about what is occurring during the

Politics For The Development Of Urban Poor
Politics for the development of urban poor
Introduction:
Society is a ground of development and a sphere of constant change. From a Marxian perspective,
changes in the forces and means of production leads to change in the structure of the society. As Marx
underlined that forces of production will lead to class differences and polarization resultant of class
conflict between the dominant and the subordinate class. From slavery to capitalism society has
witnessed class differences. An urban community is also a reflection of the larger polarized society
between the privileged and the poor.
An urban city is characterized by a number of factors like shrinking spaces, high population density,
changing family structures, etc. but another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

characteristics such as major project colonies, areas of intensiveindustrial development, railway
colonies, university campus, important tourist centers, etc. (Administrative Staff College of India,
2011)
According to Long (1998),
Urbanization is the process by which large numbers of people become permanently concentrated in
relatively small areas, forming cities. Internal rural to urban migration means that people move from
rural areas to urban areas. In this process the number of people living in cities increases compared
with the number of people living in rural areas. Natural increase of urbanization can occur if the
natural population growth in the cities is higher than in the rural areas. This scenario, however, rarely
occurs.
Module 1 of JnNurm suggests the definition of Urban Governance (2011: 11) as:
The sum of the many ways individuals and institutions, public and private, plan and manage the
common affairs of the city. It is a continuing process through which conflicting

Assess Kamil s Writing Skills Essay
In order to assess Kamil s writing skills, I collected and analyzed a few writing pieces of various types
of writing. Kamil s style of writing and the tone differ depending on the type of composition, which
means that he is aware of the purpose and the potential audience when he writes. The graphic aspect
of writing indicates that Kamil has knowledge about forming the 26 letters of the English alphabet.
His writing is also legible and clear most of the time. Some pieces of Kamil s writing, such as Feature
Article , Oil Spilling , Minecraft , and How I came to America include a thoughtful and interesting
introduction as well as an effective and creative conclusion. In these compositions, Kamil groups and
organizes facts logically, he links the ideas together, using transition words, e.g. After ten hours of
doing stuff we finally got to America! Thereafter we went througth the securite machines... Also, a
variety of sentences is applied in these pieces. On the other hand, a persuasive letter and an opinion
piece, What would you rather do: find your way through a corn maze or tour a haunted house? include
a few confusing sentences and thoughts. The introduction and closing are not precise, as they do not
clearly state Kamil s personal opinion. For example, in a persuasive letter to the principal of his
school, Kamil states a few good reasons why his school should not have air conditioning, he supports
his arguments with some pieces of evidence, and then, in closing

Computer Security As A Critical Problem For Computer Systems
ABSTRACT Over the past decade computer networks have rapid growth, but the computer security
became a critical problem for computer systems. Thus in the recent years various soft computing
technique based methods were proposed to detects the growth of intrusion. Also many researchers
have reported that the large set of pattern classifications and machine learning algorithms are trained
and testing is made on the knowledge discovery data intrusion detection dataset is unsuccessful in
finding the remote to local attacks and user to root attacks. Moreover Hyperbolic Hopfield Neural
Network(HHNN) based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) detection stability, detection ratio,
particularly low frequent attacks are still required to be improved. Thus this paper proposes a new
method known as K Medoids HNNN using the technique HHNN and K Medoids clustering. This
system achieves the higher intrusion detection rate, detection stability and less false positive rate. At
first the proposed system implements the K Medoids clustering technique on the various training
subsets. Afterwards a mono HHNN model is trained using the different training subsets to detect the
intrusion. The experimental results shows the K Medoids HHNN approach achieve better results
rather than other framework.

  • 2. Salvador Dali Distinctively Visual Salvador Dali was born on May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Spain. (Biography) As a child, Salvador produced high quality pieces of art. Salvador s family had recognized his talent and supported him throughout his childhood. His family was so highly supportive of his talents that they even built him a studio, where he continued to practice his talent. His early childhood consisted of mainly art practice, which led to studying in a academy in Madrid, Spain. Though, his time in the academy was short lived, due to many interferences with professors and behavior issues, eventually being expelled. In the early 1920 s, Dali decided to travel to Paris and worked and learned from artists like Picasso, Magritte and Miro. Working with such artists led to Dali s ... Salvador Dali is mainly known for his artwork of The Persistence of Memory, this piece of art shows graphics of melting pocket watches in a empty desert landscape. The scene consists of pocket washes without their chains melting on top of rocks and branches. The background is of a mountain sized rock to the right of the ocean, appearing in front of the sunset. The painting also appears in half sunlight and half shadow. This is an example of his painting technique. Dali frequently used the philosophy of hard and soft in his paintings. (Totally History) The melting watches refers to time being flowing and endless, and the rocks represent the reality of life and the ocean symbolizes the vastness of the earth. (Totally History) There is also a orange clock covered with ants, this is to convey the decay of time or death.(Totally History) This is a complicated piece of art to comprehend and no one will ever be able to fully understand the piece of art besides the man himself, Salvador Dali. • 3. Leadership Skills And Practices Of Leadership Essay 1. Leadership is defined by several principles of knowledge, applied knowledge and results. Oxford Dictionary defined leadership simply as, the action of leading a group of people or an organization . The Coast Guard sets a great store on the concept and application of leadership skills and practices. The service begins training the enlisted workforce leadership skills at the most basic level in boot camp, with primary focus on followership, team building and effective communications; all of which are elements for leadership. We place such a store on leadership the Coast Guard created the Leadership Development Center (LDC) with a primary focus on training leadership to the enlisted and officer workforce. The LDC created the enlisted leadership continuum which brings us the Apprentice Leadership Program, Leadership and Management School, Chief Petty Officer s Academy, Senior Enlisted Leadership Academy. 2. Working for over two decades in the Coast Guard I have had the privilege to serve and work alongside great leaders. Ironically, some of the best lessons learned were from leaders who were the antithesis to what I call inspired leadership . Due in large part to less than positive experiences, I became somewhat of an authoritarian basing my perceived leadership skills to my professional power base and developed a rather draconian leadership style. This style worked well for me to accomplish goals assigned to my work force but it left something to be desired for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Wage Discrimination Among Actors And Actresses Since before women earned the right to vote, there has always been a demand for men and women to work as an actor in the film industry. Their ability to captivate, move, and inspire earned them recognition as movie stars. This rich history of stars, ranging from Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton to Mary Pickford and Julia Roberts has seemingly been gender neutral. However, the question of wage discrimination among actors and actresses is often not a point of discussion. Perhaps this is because the public knows how well movie starts are paid, which begets the question, are actors and actress rewarded differently? When skimming the literate, the first point of interest is Forbes Magazine s list of the top paid actors and actresses of that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, there seems to be a huge discrepancy between how actors and actresses fair at the box office. This is reinforced when looking at the average box office figures. Ten actors have averaged figures over $100 million while only two actresses managed to reach that milestone. If an actors and actresses are paid based upon their box office power, it would seem that actors are better at selling movie tickets relative to actresses. However, these figures might be a result of the types of roles offered to men and women. In order to examine gender discriminatory pay practices in Hollywood, there needs to be a comparison between men and women performing the same exact job. In cinema, it could be the case that actors and actresses are simply not working in exactly the same industry. Since they are not playing the same character, and the fact that film offers different genres by which actors and actresses are defined within, the pay difference may be due to the variation between roles. An action star generally gets paid more relative to a melodramatic role, and throughout the history of Hollywood, men usually occupy the role of big action star. Men like John Wayne, Tom Cruise, Cary Grant, Humphry Bogart, James Cagney, and Arnold Schwarzenegger receive salary benefits because they are generational icons, starring in big budget, high grossing films. With this being said, this goal is similar to what Grenouille and Manson wanted, to be remembered even after death. Grenouilles goal was to require the ultimate scent to be accepted by his town or anywhere else he goes. Mansons goal was to let the world be shocked by the crimes that he and his group committed. Perhaps that this trait does influence serial killers to kill freely, but when doing such acts the question someone must ask is the murderer regret what they have done? If someone has killed another person for a reason, for example self defense, then that is a common murder to report, but in Grenouilles and Mansons case they did not report the murder because they felt as though that killing the victim was necessary. Psychopaths tend to not feel any emotion that is related to guilt... (Uncategorized). In Perfume the killings that Grenouille committed goes beyond of what Manson has done up until both of their deaths. However, the reason why they killed in the first place do compare because of their childhood with the way they were both raised and how society has treated them. Warleggen s waiver distinguishes itself from the waiver in Roberts in that Warleggen s waiver includes activity leading up to spelunking and cave tours, like the car or van travel to and from the site , while also including the phrase ordinary negligence directly in the types of risks that are included in spelunking. In Roberts, it was unclear to the court if the waiver covered activities before and after entering the hot air balloon. Unlike in Brooten, Warleggen s waiver does not followed the term negligence with OR ANY OTHER CAUSE. Warleggen s decision to omit that phrase precludes the possibility for an overly broad interpretation, like construing the waiver to release incidents involving recklessness and intentional conduct. If the waiver was overly broad and extended beyond ordinary negligence, the clause would be invalid under public policy. The waiver also includes ... ALL RISK[S] ASSOCIATED WITH SPELUNKING OR CAVING EXCURSION..., which would seem to cover reckless or intentional conduct, but the sentence preceding it describes what spelunking or caving excursion activities are and clearly states only ordinary negligence is included. The waiver sets out the common activities included in spelunking and cave excursions, while also specifically covering the activities that are common to spelunking. Furthermore, the waiver language Risks include, but are not limited to. . . advised the Poldarks that there were other risks to contemplate, distinguishing itself from the Atkins waiver which made it difficult to ascertain what was in the plaintiff s and the defendant s contemplation. Wasted Time In High School Emily Sellers Composition 1301 332 Mrs. Kinkead 24 September 2017 Wasted time in High School Public high schools tend to waste a lot of time in class doing things that aren t related to school at all. It has been reported that in many schools, teachers make students do chores for them for extra credit points, while others are learning new things. Jay Mathews wrote A startling waste of precious classroom time, published in 2014 in the Washington Post, and he argues that so much time is wasted in low income schools due to teachers and it makes it very difficult for students to learn in that environment. Mathews begins to establish pathos by stating the names of two girls that go to Compton High School and want to learn, but their school is unable to give them the education they desire. Mathews established ethos a little later in his article by stating facts about programs he has encountered with inner city schools; however, toward the end of his article, he uses facts to establish logos, which is the appeal of logic, while stating that schools have been sued because low income students have not been given the right education. Mathews explains that Wasting time is common in the nation s low income schools. Class schedules can be a mess at the beginning of the year, forcing students to wait days in the library for their assignments (Mathews). This tribe is in Nebraska because when the Europeans arrived to North America, they drove out the Omaha Tribe along with many other Plains Indians Tribes. Today, the Omaha Tribe consists of around 6,000 members. The Omaha Tribe was a unique tribe mainly because of what they practiced. The Omaha Tribe practiced polygamy, which was the practice of one man having multiple spouses. In the Omaha Tribe, the maximum number of wives that a man could have was three. • 9. The World Of A Plane Crash In September of 2004, Lost first aired on ABC. The drama series about people stranded on an island after a plane crash, had elements of science fiction that J.J Abrams used to captivate millions every episode. The series starts by introducing the main characters, Jack and Kate, and their personal backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series progresses, characters once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single episode and shed light on topics never previously thought about. The 23rd Psalm, the tenth episode in season two, demonstrates this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic of the series is toned down to bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria. The 23rd Psalm attempts to inform people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has affected the lives of many who live there, what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of influence drug trafficking has around the world. The episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje) finding out that Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan) has in his possession a Virgin Mary statue. Eko demands to see the statue only to break in open and revealing the heroin inside. Eko then demands that Charlie take him to the location where he found the statue, which happens to be a small plane crash site farther inland on the island. Or should I trust myself? This dilemma is a common one in a great deal of literature. In Antigone and A Doll s House, the main theme is the question of whether one should be true to oneself or true to one s state or society. Should Nora (in A Doll s House) and Antigone (in Antigone) follow the rules and do what the state and society want them to do or should they follow their own consciences? Both plays address the conflict between individual morals and state laws, obedience and disobedience, and understanding oneself. Antigone shows the contrast between state law and ... What sort of a state is that? Creon: Why, does not every state belong to its ruler? Haemon: You d be an excellent king on a desert island (Sophocles page #). Haemon questions whether Creon s judgements are correct or not (above). For Antigone the divine law is what should be used instead of the state law, which is defined only by what the king wants. Therefore should Haemon and Antigone oppose the state law? The king makes up the main part of the state, and decides whether the laws he makes are fair, and do not object to these laws otherwise he wouldn t be king. Some may think that it is wrong that people should oppose the state s laws, and should just follow them, but then they will never get to have their own beliefs and never have a better understanding of themselves in the end. In Antigone there is the state and its laws, but in A Doll s House we see more of the society, and the laws it enforces on the individual. The society s rules prevent the characters from seeing and expressing their true nature. Regulating the New Zealand Electricity Industry Laws 437 Research and Writing Topic #2: The application of the Commerce Act to the electricity industry Regulating the New Zealand electricity industry no longer just Ohm s law Emily Wu Electricity is a problematic commodity. Unlike other goods and services be those vaccines, education or tennis rackets the life of electricity is transient and without technology capable of storing it, supply must meet demand instantaneously. Due to the inherently unreliable nature of demand forecasts (e.g. an unexpected cold front leads to a demand spike as people turn on their heaters), the grid must also have the capacity to reach peak demand at all times. In addition to these complicated physical problems, the location of New Zealand s largest demand centres compared largest generation centres means there are several infrastructural issues as well. This essay will briefly examine the industry s regulatory history and discern how the Commerce Act 1986 fits into this regulatory context. The ability of Part 2 to control generators in net pivotal situations will also be briefly scrutinized. Structure of the industry The electricity industry can be split 4 ways: 1. Depending on different cultures or even different regions of the world, the meaning of natural behavior may differ. In a modern society, I would say that unnatural behaviors are those that target the life of another human in any form. In other words, behaviors like murder, terrorist arrangements, child abuse, etc are done in order to place another life at risk of survival. For example, the concept of cannibalism is thought to be immoral as it risks the safety and survival of human beings among each other. However, there are still people that practice this ritual. In order to have morals an individual must have specific aspects in their human nature. For example, it is immoral to kill others; hence, it must be human nature to avoid murder. If it is in your human nature to be a good person and help others, then your morality is related to your human nature. Good morals enables humans to shape their personality and to an extent predict their future endearments. For example, as we grow older we know to talk with manners, to be respectable, and listen when someone else is talking. Furthermore, we grow more and learn to not cheat and to be kind to elders and young children. These are morals we learn to abide to, but also become human nature. Whereas, if an individual has an evil, harmful human nature, then their morality is also related to that and those are the people that hurt and kill others. • 14. Analysis Of Sonnet 130 Poetry is a form of writing in where the author expresses his or her emotions through style and rhythm. There is no one specific reason why people like poetry. Not only is poetry personal, it can also be deeply emotional to people, as poems can bring back memories and experiences that have resonated throughout the reader s life. Love poetry is not only deeply emotional for people, but it s something most people can relate to as most people will experience some form of love throughout their life. Easily the most famous poet in history, Shakespeare, had many thoughts on love, and many of his poems invoke this emotion. Sonnet 130 specifically is thought provoking and much more relatable than other poems of the 1600 s, and like most of Shakespeare s sonnets, this poem is an expression of love. This is due to the fact that Shakespeare does not make the woman in the poem out to be some sort of goddess. In telling his mistress that he loves her, our speaker also has to give us an idea about what his love is like. He is stating who and what she is, and that at the end of the day, his love is not only beautiful, but unique, exclusive and rare. Sonnet 130 was written during the 1600 s. Many poets during this time stylised their lover or whomst ever they were writing about as divine and perfect in everyway. Sonnet 130 is considered by many to make a mockery of this. This sonnet compares the speaker s lover to a number of other beauties, and never in the lover s favor. In the first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Musuo Of Chin Matrilineal Kinship The Musuo of China: Matrilineal Kinship The practice of matrilineal kinship is considered a myth by some cultures, but it is indeed very real for the Musuo of China. Matrilineality is the practice of linear descent through the ancestry of females. Many Western civilizations have a misconception of what is considered normal on a global scale, but many practices do, in fact, differ widely between different cultures. To illustrate this, the Musuo s traditions and values in regards to marriage and family are based solely on matrilineal kinship, while America s melting pot ideation encourages unilineal descent, in which the ancestry line can be traced to the wife and/or the husband. In the paper I will discuss the cultural nature of the Musuo, and the way that marriage and family norms in Musuo differ from the typical American ideation of family. One indication that Musuo traditions differ from the American culture in terms of marriage is the lack of a formal union between wife and husband, as well as the American idea of father and child. According their article Land of the Walking Marriage (2000), Lu Yuan and Sam Mitchell explain that Musuo fathers do not raise their own children, but instead cater to their sister s children s needs. American cultural norms include the belief that blood relatives have a biological attachment to each other, which makes this type of kinship unacceptable to many conservative minded Americans. Moreover, the dynamics of marital behavioral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Classical psychological theories, focused on two main concepts; personality and behaviorism. Personality theories helped improve cognitive sciences and behaviorism called attention to social learning with a focus on behavioral conditioning. For example, Ivan Pavlov, a prominent researcher, demonstrated that behavior can be changed by changing conditions associated with the behavior. Personality theories and behavioral conditioning worked, in conjunction, to form the classical psychological theory. (Schmalleger, p.82). • 18. The New York City Subway System The New York City Subway System has an extremely rich and detailed history that dates to the late nineteenth century. Before the system that the public currently takes advantage of when they visit New York City, there were an extensive amount of public transportation options that were available to the general public. For example, horse and carriages, omnibuses, and trolley systems were all used as a means of transportation throughout the nineteenth century. Once the idea for a subway system to be built was introduced, most people did not believe that it was possible. However, they were soon proven wrong after Alfred E. Beach secretly built the first subway system that was used in New York City. Once people saw that subterranean travel was a viable means of transportation, it did not take long until the subway system that is used today to come along. The New York City subway system revolutionized the way the general public traveled throughout the city, and inspired other growing cities to build subterranean travel systems of their own. In 1827, Abraham Bower created the first public transportation route that was used in New York City. Bower used a twelve seat stage coach, called Accommodation , that ran its riders along Broadway Street from the Battery down to Bleecker Street. While this was not the most comfortable of rides due to the rough roads, it was still popular by the public. By 1831, due to its popularity, Bower had added two more stage coaches called Sociable ... In this poem, The Raven , the author, Edgar Allan Poe, begins with the narrator of the poem, a young man mourning the loss of his love, Lenore. In stanza 14, the narrator says, Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore! This allusion to Greek mythology shows that the author will use something to forget the pain of losing Lenore. In this poem, the nepenthe is a book of folklore. The narrator thinks that if he reads his books, it will end the suffering he is experiencing. Another example is in stanza 17, the poem reads, Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door! These metaphors convey that the raven has told the narrator something he does not want to believe and demands him to leave immediately. The raven tells the narrator he will never be able to hold Lenore again, not even in Heaven, which enrages the narrator. The use of Poe s figurative language has revealed his sadness and sorrow he has for Lenore. The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe has become well known over the years for its sad and mysterious plot. It was developed and supported with the help of imagery, word choice, and figurative language, which helped establish the theme. The use of a raven gives the reader an eerie feel when reading the poem. With rapid development creating larger, faster and more capable aircraft the task of putting their munitions on target became increasingly complex and called for a new type of control. In March of 1942 FM 31 35 defined the role of the Air Ground Cooperation Parties (AGCP) (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). The role of the AGCP was to coordinate airborne fires in support of ground units and the AGCP cell was assumed to be located with the headquarters element, usually detached from the front line (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). Through continued evolution of the AGCP concept the observer was moved further from the headquarters and placed on or near the front lines to provide immediate tactical control of airborne fires platforms. The AGCP concept proved to be so effective that it continued development through the Second World War and into the Korean War. With the predominance of close air support aircraft located far away at Itazuki Air Base in Japan during the Korean War a ground based controller was ineffective at identifying targets for the pilots to engage before they needed to return for fuel (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). This led to the airborne Forward Air Controller (FAC). Flying a small maneuverable craft at low levels airborne FAC s could easily pick out targets unseen from ground level and quickly vector or lead attack planes to them for engagement. The ... The need for biofuels and alternative sources of energy will be necessary as the earth s resources begin to diminish. In cohesion with this concern, the current uses of fossil fuels are a concern as the environment pays an incredible toll for our overuse of this resource. Many have attempted to replace petroleum fuel with the first generation biofuels would require diverting farmland and crops for biofuel production, causing economic and ethical problems and competing with world food supply (Zhang et. al., 2011). The production of these biofuels have a negative effect on the environment, as a backdrop of rising crude oil prices, depletion of resources, and political instability in producing countries, only biomass has the potential to replace the supply of an energy hungry civilization (Antoni et. al., 2007). This is proof that it is crucial to begin to create biofuels that have a lesser negative impact that can sustain the energy demands that we have today. Currently, as seen in the table, microbes have been proven to produce ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen, which are all sources that can be used for producing renewable fuels. Due to their limited demands on the environment they prove to be an excellent candidate for a successful biofuel. In the book, Hope in the Age of Anxiety , by Anthony Scioli and Henry Biller they proclaim that, Hope is a very basic human strength without which we couldn t stay alive (25, 26). Having been in varying degrees of absolute political control over an approximate time period of four hundred years, their eventual undoing marked a power shift polarising the imperial regime laid out by countless Tsars beforehand. Nicholas II, the last Emperor of Russia, is recognised to have a degree of personal responsibility for the downfall of the Romanovs, yet the extent to which his decision making skills can be held accountable is questioned by some historians. Despite this, multiple political, social, and military facets of Nicholas II s reign were handled with instability, and his perceived lack of legitimacy due to this poor decision making ultimately was a major causative factor to the downfall of his family s vast dynasty. Various aspects of Nicholas II s political decisions reflected his clear unsuitability for the role of Tsar, and these decisions form a preliminary basis for both his own legacy of incompetency the eventual undoing of the Romanovs. In comparison to rulers preceding, Nicholas was ill prepared for the role: his father, Alexander III, failed to adequately develop his son s understanding of civil state responsibilities before his death in 1894, under the guise that he would live long enough to teach Nicholas of these affairs. All the primary students need to take the Primary Secondary School Entrance Examination (SSEE) for he selection of candidates who admitted to the Government Secondary School, subsidized secondary schools, grant schools and private secondary schools. In 1978, the governor Murray MacLehose expanded the free compulsory schooling to nine years those six years in primary education and three years in secondary education. SSEE was suspended and Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) was introduced. Primary school students need to take Academic Aptitude Test (AAT) if they wanted to apply for government secondary schools or subsidized secondary school. After nine year compulsory school, students can work or continue their study according to their abilities. There was a 2 years senior secondary school that leads to Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE). HKCEE was compulsory for the students who want to have further study. There were seven grades from A to U for showing the result of HKCEE. If the student got enough marks from HKCEE, they could study 2 year matriculation course and take Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) or Hong Kong Higher Level Examination (HKHLE). It is a testing ground for unorthodox social theories and an outpost of solid American conservatism (313). Because the state is so large and its centers of population is so widely scattered, no single generalization about it will suffice for a historical summary. Nevada, with its 110,000 square miles, would cover more than half of Spain. Nevada is not the largest state in the Union, but it is big enough to inspire awe in its visitors (2). The Helldorado Parade was established in Las Vegas in 1935, and defined Las Vegas as a Western town. Participants dressed up as cowboys and marched up downtown streets to large crowds. After the El Rancho was established, three more Western Casinos opened for business. In 1941, El Cortez opened as the first large hotel downtown. The hotel Last Frontier opened on the strip in 1942, and in 1946, the Golden Nugget opened downtown. The one big casino to the Western motif was Benjamin Siegel s The Flamingo which opened in 1946. Siegel was a mobster with ties to the Chicago and California networks, envisioned a jewel in the desert. The Flamingo was not a success and was temporarily closed. It then re opened and had a diverse theme oriented style in the hotel casino industry in Las Vegas. With the Corporate Gaming Act of 1969, Las Vegas began a slow transition towards respectability. Gambling in Las Vegas was gaining in popularity in the 1950 s and 1960 s, but the mob presence itself was preventing Las Vegas from attracting the necessary outside funds to turn it into a dominant Metropolis (204). Nevada seemed to be shedding this image in favor of the many new family oriented theme resorts that were being built, especially in Las Vegas (204). Then there s The Rat ... Ashes s father tries to manipulate and convince her to steal $200 from her mother. He is being overly nice and butters her up to make her steal the money. Ashes starts to contemplate if she should trust her father and take the money. One lesson emerging from Ashes is that manipulation from someone you should be able to trust can be harmful. One scene from Ashes uses short sentences to show manipulation from her father. Her father says, You look radiant. , You get more and more beautiful. , You re one in a million. , and I wish I deserved you. This shows that he is buttering Ashes up to steal the money that he later reveals he needs. He also says that with that money he would be set for life which will make Ashes more tempted to take the money. In this next scene, Ashes is conversing with her father about the $200 dollars. Ashes offers to help get the $200 dollars. The line Dad smiled like I d offered him the key to the mint. I love you so much, he said. • 44. Comparison Of Diet And Soda Reaction Mentos and soda reaction has been a fun experiment done by people across the world. Yes, it is a easy project you can do. You can do it by yourself or with friends but, do you know the science behind it? Do you know if it is a physical reaction or chemical reaction? The reaction of soda and Mentos causes a fun explosive outcome but, why? When you drop the the Mentos in the diet soda it causes carbon dioxide bubbles to form really fast. Then the bubbles form until it forms a geyser. Not only the bubbles form the sticky and foamy reaction. The ingredients from the Mentos mixed with the sugar from the diet soda causes the soda too have a lower surface tension. It is hard for bubbles to form at a high surface tension ( Why Do Diet Coke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Mental Floss, this is their explanation of why diet soda works better. Diet sodas produce a bigger reaction than non diet sodas because aspartame lowers the surface tension of the liquid much more than sugar or corn syrup will. You can also increase the effect by adding more surfactants to the soda when you add the Mentos, like adding a mixture of dishwasher soap and water ( Why Do Diet Coke and Mentos React? Mental Floss). Why is it a Physical reaction? It is a Physical reaction because of Nucleation. What causes the reaction of soda and Mentos slow or stops the reaction? To slow down the experiment a person would have to make sure that the carbon dioxide must escape from the soda. If that person does not have carbon dioxide in the soda the Mentos will not react to cause a fun and exciting Physical reaction( education.com. Mentos and Diet Coke Experiment | Science Project ). What is Nucleation? Nucleation is a form of crystallization.( The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica. Nucleation ). In conclusion the soda and Mentos reaction is fun, easy, and cheap. It is a physical reaction and it is because of nucleation. From a Marxian perspective, changes in the forces and means of production leads to change in the structure of the society. As Marx underlined that forces of production will lead to class differences and polarization resultant of class conflict between the dominant and the subordinate class. From slavery to capitalism society has witnessed class differences. An urban community is also a reflection of the larger polarized society between the privileged and the poor. Internal rural to urban migration means that people move from rural areas to urban areas. In this process the number of people living in cities increases compared with the number of people living in rural areas. Natural increase of urbanization can occur if the natural population growth in the cities is higher than in the rural areas. This scenario, however, rarely occurs. • 46. Assess Kamil s Writing Skills Essay In order to assess Kamil s writing skills, I collected and analyzed a few writing pieces of various types of writing. Kamil s style of writing and the tone differ depending on the type of composition, which means that he is aware of the purpose and the potential audience when he writes. The graphic aspect of writing indicates that Kamil has knowledge about forming the 26 letters of the English alphabet. His writing is also legible and clear most of the time. Some pieces of Kamil s writing, such as Feature Article , Oil Spilling , Minecraft , and How I came to America include a thoughtful and interesting introduction as well as an effective and creative conclusion. In these compositions, Kamil groups and organizes facts logically, he links the ideas together, using transition words, e.g. After ten hours of doing stuff we finally got to America! Thereafter we went througth the securite machines... Also, a variety of sentences is applied in these pieces. On the other hand, a persuasive letter and an opinion piece, What would you rather do: find your way through a corn maze or tour a haunted house? include a few confusing sentences and thoughts. The introduction and closing are not precise, as they do not clearly state Kamil s personal opinion. For example, in a persuasive letter to the principal of his school, Kamil states a few good reasons why his school should not have air conditioning, he supports his arguments with some pieces of evidence, and then, in closing ... • 47. Computer Security As A Critical Problem For Computer Systems ABSTRACT Over the past decade computer networks have rapid growth, but the computer security became a critical problem for computer systems. Thus in the recent years various soft computing technique based methods were proposed to detects the growth of intrusion. Also many researchers have reported that the large set of pattern classifications and machine learning algorithms are trained and testing is made on the knowledge discovery data intrusion detection dataset is unsuccessful in finding the remote to local attacks and user to root attacks. Moreover Hyperbolic Hopfield Neural Network(HHNN) based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) detection stability, detection ratio, particularly low frequent attacks are still required to be improved. Thus this paper proposes a new method known as K Medoids HNNN using the technique HHNN and K Medoids clustering. This system achieves the higher intrusion detection rate, detection stability and less false positive rate. At first the proposed system implements the K Medoids clustering technique on the various training subsets. Afterwards a mono HHNN model is trained using the different training subsets to detect the intrusion. The experimental results shows the K Medoids HHNN approach achieve better results rather than other framework.
