The new Oakton-Skokie CTA station features a unique design using nearly 600 hollow structural steel sections (HSS) arranged in circular column clusters. The 72 columns curve upward and interconnect, forming a Gothic, modern, and organic superstructure. The HSS connections use 3/4-inch bolts. The design allows for future expansion to accommodate longer trains. The new station provides access to downtown Skokie and improves the community's transportation connections.
