production of enzymes and hormones that

Carbohydrates provide the body with fuel and

Fats provide a highly concentrated form of
energy. Fats carry certain vitamins through our
bodies and help protect our body and organ.

Thiamine helps regulate our appetite and digestion, helps
maintain a healthy nervous system.
Riboflavin promotes healthy skin, helps our cells use
oxygen and aids vision in bright light.
Niacin helps convert sugar into energy and keeps our
skin, digestive tract healthy.

very small amount in food they are vital in
health.
Calcium gives strength and structure to our
bones and rigidity and permanence to our
teeth.
Iron is an important part of red blood cells. It
plays a role in carrying oxygen through the
body.
Sodium helps regulate the passage of water
and nutrient in and out of the blood cells.
Potassium helps keep the body fluid balance,
also regulates muscular contractions.

Water is part of all the food we eat. It bathes
our tissues, lubricates our joints, carries
nutrients and takes waste away from our cell.
Fiber is the portion of the food that cannot be
digested in the body.
Cholesterol makes up membranes, builds
nerve sheaths and provides raw materials for
hormone.
