Career Of AAutomotive Technician
Career College Research Paper I would like to be an automotive technician. Automotive technicians
inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles. I chose this this career because I have worked on cars since I
was young. Not many people want to be an automotive technician. As a result, there are more jobs
available than there are qualified technician. Most automotive technicians work in good environments.
Automotive technicians work in a well ventilated and lit repair shops or some will work in the pits at a
racetrack but, these locations can be very Tumultuous. I hope to be working in the pits. Technicians
work full time hours and overtime is common. Technicians can work in many urban areas, including
dealerships, and independent shops. Automotive technicians must first, show up a few minutes early.
In these ten minutes or so, they should unlock their toolbox, clean their work bay and tools, and check
their emails if necessary. Then they should open up the shop, and work on any unfinished projects.
Throughout the day, more work may show up. Depending on the severity of the work, it should either
be set aside until there is time or should be done immediately to get the vehicle back to the customer.
Another job of a technician is to explain the problem, the work to be done, and the cost to the
customer. Customers could easily overreact over a problem that, to the technician, seem simple. It is
the technician s job to help the customer understand the simplicity of

Five Creative Principles in Ancient Egypt
There are five creative principles in ancient Egypt which still have great resonance in current culture.
Each principle brings not only a greater understanding of yourself, but also betterment of yourself.
They strive to bring out the best in you. These principles are, autogenesis, renewal, individuation,
reflective speech, and complementarity.
Autogenesis, is enacted by many historical figures and events in ancient Egypt and early African
Christianity. Autogenesis is viewed as a rebirth of oneself, creating yourself out of nothing, or being
both your own mother and father. Being ones own mother and father can be explained by providing
for yourself. A major example of autogenesis is the scarab beetle, or dung beetle. The scarab beetle is
thought to be brought into existence by itself because the ancient Egyptians viewed baby scarab
beetles emerging from dung, with no obvious source as to their creator. In reality, the scarab beetle
lays its young in the dung, which provides perfect conditions for the baby beetles to hatch. It is
because of this that the scarab beetle is viewed as a symbol of autogenesis. The sun god, Re, also
displays autogenesis by setting and rising each day. Re recreates himself each morning by emerging
from the darkness. Along this idea of the suns journey, when the scarab beetle moves its dung it is
viewed as the same thing as the sun passing through the sky. Autogenesis is enacted in people to better
them. It can mean bettering skills, awareness,

I Wondered as Lonely as a Cloud
This lyrical poem by the author who was a pioneer of the Romantic movement, uses the earths
elements and human emotions to take him back and recollect how much something had an an effect it
had on him at the time. Around the time he wrote this poem in 1804 ???? He is wandering alone up
hill and down dales and comes across a vision so beautiful that it is imprinted in his mind forever.
Memories are what make us and without them we would not be able to manage. The image of that
memory, is what makes this poem so lovely that you feel at peace at the tranquil setting when you read
it. The descriptive language used by the author paints images of nature clouds, lakes, trees, fields, and
twinkling stars on the milky way. I felt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also clever that he uses the title of the poem as the 1st line in stanza 1. Language is figurative and
the reader is left in no doubt what the poet is saying as the words seem to dance along fluttering,
twinkle, tossing glee and bliss . You have the use of personification where daffodils are personified as
a crowd of people, also as dancers and this continues throughout the poem. Where he mentions never
ending this is an exaggeration as his eyes could only see a certain distance away. The use a metaphor
is how he describes the memories he has when he mentions inward eye . Alliteration is also used for
example, sparkling and sprightly as well as beneath and besides . Use of O er instead of Over is called
Archiac i.e it is abbreviated. This was used a lot by Romantic poets to give it an oldern Romantic
quality and also fit in line with the meter The meter is regular and consistent and comes over as tidy
and orderly. Bibolography. Norton Anthology 7th Edition. Page 284 285.1

Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki Research Paper
The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a turning point in WWII and what ended it. In August,
1945 President Harry S. Truman decided to drop two atomic bombs on Japan. Truman s decision to
drop the bombs saved many American lives, instead of sending good soldiers on the ground to attack
the Japanese soldiers. The point of dropping the bombs on Japan, was to force them to surrender.
Nagasaki and Hiroshima were two of the cities that had the biggest concentration of Japanese soldiers.
Dropping the bombs on the heavily militarized cities forced the Japanese to surrender. Immediately,
more than 130,000 people died. Tens of thousands died later from radiation poisoning
(www.inhomelandsecurity.com). Even though a massive amount of people were

What s Going On by Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye, a sex music icon, was a symbol of the social and political issues during his time.
Though his music he represented young culture, racial injustice, peaceful protest and his black
identity. Produced with Motown Records, his album What s Going On made it to the top ten on
Rolling Stone s 500 Greatest Albums, (Dyson). Motown Records is known for its crossover music and
artists that sang about things that would not create controversy in the political world, however their
artists began to address social issues following the release of Marvin Gaye s What s Going On.
Though Gaye s message was not direct until the release of this album, he represented a rage against
the black stereotype and political issues associated with his black identity at a much larger scale being
one of Motown Record s most successful artist. At an early age, Marvin Gaye sang in Church Choir
and was influenced to explore salvation through his reverend father. He grew up on the belief that
salvation was through God and his later music reflects that same belief through spreading love
(Cross). Gaye s career revolves around the perceived view of him as a sex symbol. With songs like

The Enlightenment Essay
Newton s publication of Principia Mathematica in 1677, as well as the Glorious Revolution, paved the
way for the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment. Promoting critical thinking about the world and
about humankind, the Enlightenment based itself primarily on scientific questioning and empirical
analysis. Scientists and philosophers of the eighteenth century questioned the traditional ideas about
the universe, society, and culture, and rejected the Aristotelian worldview, skeptical because of its lack
of verifiable evidence. Denouncing God as the creator of the universe inspired the thinkers of the time
to apply the newly founded scientific method in discovering the origin of all existence, leading to the
scientific achievements of Copernicus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Enlightenment s secularized emphasis on rationality, rather than religion, fueled artists renewed
interests in classical antiquity, as the geometric harmony of classical art and architecture seemed to
embody Enlightenment ideals (Gardner 847). At the same time, the excavations of Pompeii and
Herculaneum in the mid eighteenth century turned men s thoughts to Antiquity (Praeger 382). In 1764,
Winkelmann wrote his well known History of Ancient Art, in which he contrasted the noble simplicity
and calm grandeur of Ancient Greece with the irresponsibility, extravagance, and impertinent fire of
the Baroque period (Cumming 250). During the French Revolution, even Napoleon Bonaparte took
advantage of the stylistic potentialities inherent in the Classical Revival, and enhanced the effect to
produce the so called Empirical style (Praeger 382). Thus the Greek Revival became by infiltration the
style of the Court (Praeger 382). Architects of the Neoclassical period turned away from the
theatricality and ostentation of Baroque and Rococo design and instead embraced a more streamlined
classicism by incorporating Romanesque themes into works, such as blank walls except for a repeated
garland motif near the top, columns, and domes. One could say that the

Athletes College Athletes
Should collegiate athletes get paid? Statistics show that an average college athlete spends 20 hours per
week on their sport (University of Notre Dame). All the time dedicated to their sport takes away time
to complete homework, eat, work, and rest. College athletes should receive compensation for the
amount of time dedicated to their sport, for the amount of revenue brought into the university or
college, to be able to better support themselves and their family and benefit from the profit made by
apparel company contracts with the university or college.
Playing a sport in college, especially at Division 1 schools are very time consuming between
practicing and playing games. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) allows 20 hours
of practice a week for athletes, but practices often last longer ( How do College Athletes... ).
Collegiate athletes often do not have enough time to set aside for their classes. Many of these athletes
are spending more time playing their sport than managing their schoolwork. If the athletes do not
show up to every practice, then they tend to feel uncommitted and disincluded. According to an
NCAA survey on college athletes, the most demanding sports are Division 1 and Division 2 baseball.
Division 1 basketball and football are very demanding as well (O Shaughnessy). All athletes have to
make sure they establish their priorities for their sport and academics. College athletes should finish
their most difficult tasks first, then they can

During Rule Of Emperor Justinian Of The Eastern Roman Empire,
During rule of Emperor Justinian of the Eastern Roman Empire, a cycle of recurring plagues started in
the year 541 A.D. This plague cycle would disappear and reappear in roughly eleven year cycles. The
last strike of this plague cycle was in 747 in Naples. This series of plagues were called the Justinian
plague named after Emperor Justinian s rule and it is also referred to as the early medieval pandemic
(EMP). The severity of this plague was high being that Procopius of Caesarea, a Urban Prefect of
Constantinople stated that the plague fell upon the whole world, yet just as many people escaped as
had the misfortune to succumb either because they escaped the infection altogether, or because they
got over it if they happened to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may seem like an outlandish claim by Procopius to put the blame for plague on Justinian however
he is not far from the truth. Justinian was not a demon in human form however his expansionism did
opened a large area of the Empire and increased internal travel distance allowing for the plague to
spread throughout the Mediterranean.
Justinian s rule before the plague was stable however during the plague the stability of his rule
plummeted. As stated before, during the plague Justinian drew blame from his people because of the
devastation. However the plague reduced population drastically, those on arable areas by one half in
fifty years and those in dry areas by a lesser amount. It created a great depression, forced readjustment
of population, altered relations among parts of the Empire, and created conditions which were
sensitive to accidents. The loss of life combined with a economic depression greatly lowered the
stability of the Empire however they were not the only factors that affect the stability of the realm. To
protect the economy Justinian order an edict that froze prices and wages pre plague levels however As
with all such wage and price freezes, Justinian s edict served mostly to exaggerate the problems they
were intended to solve. Shortages of fuel, food and most relevantly for an empire now fighting a two

Gollum Allegory
In J.R.R Tolkien s Lord of the Rings Trilogy, the character of Gollum has quickly proven to be the
single most important character to the plot. This is due partly to his role in the destruction of the One
Ring; but more to do with the themes associated with the character of Gollum. Gollum, despite being a
disgusting and repulsive creature who had entered the story later than most other characters, embodies
the strongest allegory in the entire trilogy. Gollum is an allegory for the depravity of Man because he
puts all of his focus on a physical object with absolutely no eternal value, Gollum s devotion to the
One Ring led to major physical and mental transformations, and Gollum s eventual obsession with the

David And Goliath Essay
I used to attend a private catholic school back in the Philippines until I came here when I was eight
years old, and I do not remember the story about David and Goliath. Unless my teacher talked about
during religious class then I completely spaced out. However, since learning about the different David
s, it has become one of my favorite stories due to each figure s place in the story line. The story is
about a young brave shepherd named David who saves Israel by challenging and killing a giant named
Goliath with nothing more than a slingshot and a bag of stones ( The Human Form in Michelangelo s
David and Bernini s David , Rybicki). The two David s that stood out to me the most were
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni s and Gian Lorenzo Bernini s. For Michelangelo s
version, he sculpted an idealistic, flawless, and god like character that is focusing his attention on
Goliath and building up that energy to fight with his sling ready in his left hand. As for Bernini s, his
character is not as heavily built as Michelangelo s, however, as it ... Show more content on

As Michelangelo emphasized more on perfection, Bernini s focus was on storytelling. Michelangelo s
David has pent up energy while he stands still looks towards Goliath and pondering his upcoming
move. He is more built as if making men seek the same perfection as his. For Bernini, his David has
the liveliness that is the main characteristic of art during the Baroque era. His statue has expressed
movement which is shows through David bringing back the sling, preparing to injure his enemy.
However, both artists present man in a perfect form by presenting them with beauty, strength, and
confidence as they begin their fight with the giant. Both artists have depicted their version of David in
their own way and have produced

CBA Situation Analysis
To prevent further disruptions of league and staff operations, the recommendation for bi annual
meetings between the NFL and the player s union should be considered. This would provide both sides
a reasonable outlook period in which to improve the conditions of business. This time could be used
by the parties to undergo voluntary mediation for the union s members to come to a mutual agreement
into what the players want and feel they need. The main purpose of this suggestion would be to
alleviate the threat of strikes and lockouts due to expired CBA contracts.
The next thing that could have been done differently is allowing for amendments to be placed into
order in circumstances such as the replacement players in 1987 or the 132 day lockout

The Importance Of The Film Incentive Program
On Friday July 10, 2017, Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill into law that effectively discontinued the
film incentive program in Michigan. While the state will keep the Michigan Film Office for the time
being, this is a major hit to a budding film industry. Since 2007, the incentive program helped to
attract the production of Hollywood films to Michigan. Notable films produced while the program was
intact include Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Transformers franchise. In a news release
concerning the new legislation, Governor Snyder noted that the while the program will no be active,
Michigan still has much to offer to the film industry. The states film office will continue to assist those
looking to film in the state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He changed the program to be a cash based incentives which would cap at $25 million. Some view the
discontinuation on the program as a lack of support for creativity in Michigan. There are many
beneficial reasons for incentive based programs to be used in the state of Michigan. While many may
view them as some useless program, there is much upside to have them. For example, these programs
support local film makers, make locations more desired, create jobs, work well on a credit based
system, and provide a competitive advantage. On the subject of supporting local film makes, in
response to Michigan eliminating its incentive program, local filmmakers were highly upset. One
filmmaker stated they don t care about what we care about as creative people, as entrepreneurs, as
artists, as people who are trying to make a living. (Egan, p. 1) While the state did what they felt was
right, discontinuing the program created friction within the film making community. One of the states
key jobs is to provide for all citizens. By stopping the program, this does not happen. Much like any
state, Michigan seeks to become a more desired location on the national scale. The entertainment
industry, is one of the key ways to do so. In the reading The Great Convention Center Bailout, this is
exampled. The author states It s no surprise then that cities compete so fiercely for business. The
nation s largest convention centers in

The Historical Period Of Chinese Art Essay
The 20th century is a historical period for Chinese art history. It is the time period where China was
ruled by Mao Zedong (1942 1976) and Propaganda Art was introduced.
Propaganda art is not just a fine art. It is an information transmission art that contains clear meaning,
and the most popular political vehicle for propaganda in the 20th century of China. Propaganda art
must have considerable artistic appeal to mobilize image, color, composition, form and other factors to
form a strong visual effect. Its screen often has a strong visual center, unique artistic style and design
characteristic. However, during that time, the public did not have awareness of collecting art work.
Thus, little Propaganda art still exists today even though many of the propaganda posters were
reprinted over and over, and pasted in various streets during that time. Propaganda art played an
important role in the spiritual and cultural life of the Chinese people. As propaganda art has a special
social status during the Revolutionary War and Socialist Construction period of China, it has attracted
many successful artists to engage in the creation of posters. This resulted in different forms of
propaganda art being produced. As a result, propaganda art had become an indispensable form of
Chinese artistic creation in the 20th century.
From the artistic point of view, there are numerous different types of propaganda art during the
different time periods. The main forms of propaganda art are woodcuts,

Essay Comparing Judaism And Christianity
How is Islam similar to Christianity and Judaism?
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, in contrast to Hinduism and Buddhism, are all monotheistic faiths
that worship the God of Adam, Abraham, and Moses creator, sustainer, and lord of the universe. They
share a common belief in the oneness of God (monotheism), sacred history (history as the theater of
God s activity and the encounter of God and humankind), prophets and divine revelation, angels, and
Satan. All stress moral responsibility and accountability, Judgment Day, and eternal reward and
punishment.
All three faiths emphasize their special covenant with God, for Judaism through Moses, Christianity
through Jesus, and Islam through Muhammad. Christianity accepts God s covenant with and

This is reflected historically in their use of similar greetings meaning peace be upon you : shalom
aleichem in Judaism, pax vobiscum in Christianity, and salaam alaikum in Islam. Often, however, the
greeting of peace has been meant primarily for members of one s own faith community.
Leaders of each religion, from Joshua and King David to Constantine and Richard the Lion Hearted to
Muhammad and Saladin, have engaged in holy wars to spread or defend their communities or empires.
The joining of faith and politics continues to exist in modern times, though manifested in differing
ways, as seen in Northern Ireland, South Africa, America, Israel, and the Middle East.
Islam is similar to Judaism in its emphasis on practice rather than belief, on law rather than dogma.
The primary religious discipline in Judaism and Islam has been religious law; for Christianity it has
been theology. Historically, in Judaism and Islam the major debates and disagreements have been
among scholars of religious law over matters of religious practice, whereas in Christianity the early
disputes and cleavages in the community were over theological beliefs: the nature of the Trinity or the
relationship of Jesus human and divine natures.

The Sunflower Simon Wiesenthal Response
The Holocaust was a genocide that occured from 1933 1945, and one of its survivors was Simon
Wiesenthal. Wiesenthal was an architect before he was captured by the Nazis. After he was set free, he
dedicated his life to finding Nazi war criminals and persecuting them in court. Later on in his life, he
wrote a memoir, The Sunflower. It was about one of his many experiences at the Lemberg
concentration camp where he got roped in to listening to a dynig SS soldier, Karl. Right before,
Wiesenthal leaves Karl s room, Karl asks for Wiesenthal, on behalf of all the Jews he persecuted, for
forgiveness. Wiesenthal left Karl s room without forgiving him, and then asks the readers, What would
I have done? At the end of The Sunflower, people who Wiesenthal picked to respond to his question,
had their answers published. The most interesting response was Jose Hobday s. Hobday believed that
Wiesenthal should have apologized to Karl because it would have given Karl a sense of peace, making
it easier for him to pass on. Hobday has the correct answer to Wiesenthal s question because even
though all of the Jews that Karl persecuted are dead and will not be able to apologize to him in person,
Karl just wants someone to know that he is sorry for his actions. Jose Hobday was a Franciscan nun of
Seneca, Iroquois, and Seminole descent. She wrote about Catholic and Native American spirituality,
and her writings have appeared in many publications such as Parabola, Cross Currents, The National

A Presentation Of The National Nanotechnology Initiative (...
1. Introduction.
There s plenty of room at the bottom ; this statement by Richard Feynman in 1959 during a
presentation to a meeting of the American Physical Society, is widely accepted as the spark that
initiated the present nano age1. Nano, dwarf in Greek, is defined as one billionth, it follows that the
nanoscale is measured in nanometres, or 10 9 m. To put this in perspective; the average strand of a
human hair is roughly 75,000 nm in diameter, or from the other extreme 1 nm is the length of 10
hydrogen atoms lined up end to end.
Nanotechnology can be difficult to define, as its definition is often engineered to suit the researcher
and their field; this resulted in a need of a general working definition, which the national
nanotechnology initiative (NNI) established []. Nanotechnology is thus defined as possessing the
following features;
Nanotechnology involves research and technology development at the 1 nm to 100 nm range.
Nanotechnology builds on the capability to organize or manipulate at the atomic scale.
Nanotechnology creates and uses structures that have novel properties because of their small size.
.
2. Nanotechnology
Nanoscience involves a study of nanotechnology and nanomaterials, of which at least one of the
dimensions is in 1 100 nm range. Over the past two decades, nanomaterials have been a topic of both
scientific and technological interest2. Due to their compact dimension and enlarged surface area, these
materials possess new physical and

What is a stake holder in a business?
A stake holder in a business is somebody that can affect or be affected by the actions of the business.
Businesses have several stake holders each. Anybody associated with a business can be a stakeholder
of that business in some way.
Who are the stake holders at Morrisons PLC?
External Stakeholders
The customers The customers of Morrisons PLC are a big stakeholder in the company. It is because of
the customers that the business is able to function. The customers are able to affect Morrisons because
if they are not happy they will not shop at Morrisons but will go to one of their competitors instead.
This will harm Morrison s profit and therefore result in a decline of the business. ... Show more

The local community does not really affect Morrisons as a whole just the areas stores. If there is only
Morrisons in the local community with a lack of main competitors such as ASDA, Tesco and
Salisbury s, then it is very likely that Morrisons will be successful because the little businesses in the
area pose little threat.
Competitors The competitors of Morrisons are one of the most important stakeholders. Tesco, ASDA,
Sainsbury s and smaller businesses such as Aldi and Lidl are the top competitors of Morrisons. They
decide many factors such as prices, location, products and services that force Morrisons to change. If a
competitor decides to lower a products price, then Morrisons will most likely have to lower the price
too. If Morrisons does not do this then the competitor will sell more products and attract more
customers, some that may be currently Morrison s shoppers. Competitors can also have an effect on
where Morrisons opens a shop. If for example there are 2 Tesco stores in an area, there is not much
sense in opening a Morrisons store nearby. If a competitor of Morrisons starts selling a product that
Morrisons currently does not, it is in Morrison s interest to also supply that product. This is the same
with a service. So if for example ASDA start delivering to a specific area, then Morrisons will most
probably do so too as this can potentially lose them many customers. If a competitor decides to launch
a big advertising campaign

The Role Of Technology In Education
Technologies role
We re living in a country that is called a technologically civilized society. The use of the internet has
not changed the way that we think. However, it is making unique contributions in classrooms by
providing us with immediate and convenient access to an extraordinary amount of ideas and
information. In the world that we currently live in, technology is a very vital factor . Today most
people are more familiar with the technically advanced gadget that they carry in their backpack, or
their pocket. Every other day a new software device is being brought into the marketplace, which
helps improve our knowledge in and out of school. One of the advantages that the internet provides
students with, is being able to access all sorts of books that are available at any time. Despite the fact
that technology plays a positive role in making our school lives much easier, it also has a negative
effect. The internet seems to be impairing our ability to focus and to think deeply on any subject. The
more technology continues to grow, the more improvement it provides in an education level for
certain students; while for others it has a very different effect in the way we read and take in
information. In this paper, I will be discussing both pros and cons of the way technology is used in and
out of our schools today.
To begin with, the continuing advances in the technological world, students are

Greed In The Pardoners Tale
Throughout literature, relationships can often be found between the author of a story and the story that
he writes, whether intentional or not. In Geoffrey Chaucer s story,
Canterbury Tales, many of the characters on the pilgrimage make this statement evident with the tales
that they tell. Such a distinct relationship can be made between the character of the Pardoner and the
tale that he tells.
Through the Prologue to the Pardoner s tale, the character of the Pardoner is revealed. Although the
Pardoner displays many important traits, the most prevalent is his greed. Throughout the prologue, the
Pardoner displays his greed and even admits that the only thing he cares about is money: quot;I preach

Although the Pardoner is extremely greedy, he continues to try and teach that
quot;Avarice is the root of all evil quot; (6). He explains to the pilgrims how money is the root of all
evil, and then he takes the money from them in exchange for forgiveness of their sins.
This action could be seen in two ways. Perhaps the Pardoner is a very greedy, trecherous man, or
perhaps Chaucer is trying to jab at Christianity by alluding to Christ. The characters in his tale display
great hypocrisy as well. As the tale begins, the friends all act very trustworthy and faithful towards all

Rise Of The West Essay
We cannot be too sure of what accurately caused the rise of the west, but we could as well be close
enough. The problem about history is that stories will evolve after time passes. Debates between
Historians and other will sometimes change ideas. Authors of some best selling books leave out some
key details that could be needed later on. We have also been false on a certain number of subjects like
how Columbus was the first to discover America when truth was he wasn t. There is a lot of evidence
pointing towards that the West actually did rise, but there are still problems from our fellow Historians
this current day. We all know what we know, it s human nature to depend on something that we know
and also trust. There are though, some minor misconceptions with what we know. The books we read
today give us all the same in text of what happened and how it shaped a country to what it is today
with all the critical points. It s important to know the ideologies, practices, advancements and
connections between countries. Though these things are important, there could still be more out there.
Historians could be basing their facts off just 20% of the information found while the other portion is
unknown. Some findings can be labeled as a Game Changer because of the vast amounts of artifacts
and information that have been recovered. Scientists using high tech, airplane based lidar mapping

The role of an Historian is critical to the constant evolution of the historical evidence we have today.
To say we will have a depiction of the past is questionable, as we only know what we unveil. We

present. Overall, we can t just be too sure of what caused the rise of the west, but it s always good to

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, comprising 16% of all female

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in women worldwide, comprising 14.3% of all

Survival rates vary greatly worldwide, ranging from 80% or over in North America, Sweden and

The Importance Of Short Term Gain In Basketball
This year I hope to get a 4.0 for every quarter because I want to beat my brother for highest GPA in
the family. Also, I ll feel smart (lol). He has gotten a 4.0 for every quarter for every year ever since
seventh grade through high school, so far. I would also like to join the basketball team for either the
future or in eighth grade, right now. If I get cut, I ll keep going. Short term pain leads to long term
gain is the quote I ll follow. Sometimes you need to go through hell to get to paradise and for me, that
hell is not making it onto the team. But the long term gain is getting onto the team after the years of
hard work. I d rather get onto the team with good skill, that get onto the team because of my wants.

Religion Assessment Ezekiel was a young priest when he was growing up, he was always around the

arrived in Babylon, he began preaching. When Ezekiel received the messages from God, they mostly
came from visions. Once he kept receiving these messages, he then realized that God would still take
care of his people. The people of Babylon will receive a new life and return back home to their land
from God s spirit. God was with the people in Babylon the same amount of time he was in the Temple.

assessed students level of agreement in the eight following categories: personal life, cultural concerns,
academics, university programs, health care, safety, and the International Students and Scholars Office
(ISS). The questions were evaluated on a standard 5 point Likert type scale. In addition, open ended
responses were elicited for country of origin and religious beliefs to ensure possibly answers were not

Inside Out, And Its Director Pete Docter
Do you ever look at someone and wonder, What is going on inside their head? This is the first
question asked in animated film, Inside Out, and its director Pete Docter s mind after noticing his
daughter s personality changing as she grew up. Using his daughter as inspiration, Pete Docter pitched
the idea to Pixar studios where it was picked up immediately for production in 2009. He consulted
with numerous child psychologists to create the movie about 11 year old girl, Riley Anderson, moving
from Minnesota to San Francisco and her personified emotions to guide her through. Because Pixar s
movies are family friendly, the film s crew cleverly used color and creative mise en scene to tell the
elaborate story between Riley s mind, the world around her, and other character s personality traits.
The director has an extremely flexible medium due to the fact that the film is an animation, having full
control of the character s design, setting, lighting, effects, and anything in between. It displays all
throughout the movie, causing a great contrast, when shifting from a character s mind to their
environment, mainly being Riley. Through a series of montages and flashbacks of Minnesota, the
audience can see that the scenes are always lighted in pastel like color, This is to represent Riley s
comfort of her former home in contrast of San Francisco which is depicted in desaturated colors.
Furthermore, the animator s choice of color and lighting for both Minnesota and San Francisco

Flat Roof Conversion
Flat Roof Conversion Many first time home owners and those on a limited budget choose to construct
their new home with a flat roofing system, because of the low materials cost, installation price, and
ease of DIY roof repair and maintenance. However, flat roofing systems are more susceptible to water
damage, punctures, and other damage that makes regular roof repair an unfortunate reality. Until the
last decade or so, which has seen the introduction of incredibly strong and durable synthetic materials
such as EPMD and PVC onto the market, most flat roofs were constructed using tar, gravel, and sheet
metal, which while effective, have problems with durability and whose look is simply not associated
with traditional residential buildings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is important to keep in mind if you plan on selling your home within the next few years, as this
may not be the best investment if that is the case. However, if you are planning on staying in your
home for a decade or more and are set on converting to a pitched roof, the impact on your home s
value may not be as important of a consideration. Weak Support System One of the benefits, and
potential weaknesses, of a flat roof is the fact that it requires a much less robust support structure to
keep the roof in place. However, many roofing contractors will then create a less than ideal roofing
structure which can degrade quickly and become a threat to the integrity of your home. If you
regularly hear creaking or movement in your home s flat roof structure, you may be in need of a costly
roof repair project. If this is the case, it may make sense for you to go ahead and install a pitched roof
at that time.

Evolution or Revolution
Evolution or Revolution? Recurring themes, ideas and conventions in the dramas of Ibsen, O Neill and
Shepard.
Throughout the history of drama, playwrights have appropriated the ideas of their predecessors for
their own use, sometimes building on them and making the idea their own. American drama is no
exception. American drama has its roots firmly entrenched in modern European drama, this is
illustrated through the influence of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen on American playwright
Eugene O Neill. O Neill once wrote, quot; Not long ago I read all of Ibsen s plays again. The same
living truth is there. Only to fools with a superficial eye cocked to detect the incidental can they have
anything dated or outworn about them. As dramas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
WESTON: Some guy. Looked respectable. Talked a real good line. Said it was an investment for the
future. All kinds of great things were going to be developed. Golf courses, shopping centers, banks,
sauna baths. All that kinda stuff. So I bought it. quot; (Curse of the Starving Class p.158).
This illustrates how this convention, mastered by Ibsen, remains unchanged as it is passed down from
generation to generation. Shepard claims in his biography that he quot;never read Ibsen quot;
(Schewey p.110), therefore if Shepard did not appropriate this idea from Ibsen it is logical to assume
that he appropriated it from O Neill whom he has already openly declared his debt to. This is an
example of a Modern European convention having a direct influence on American drama.
Another idea that remains relatively unchanged through the course of recent history is that of heredity.
Heredity is a theme that features strongly in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler as Ibsen himself states in a letter to
the Count Moritz Prozor, quot; The title of the play is Hedda Gabler [italics mine]. My intention in
giving it this name was to indicate that Hedda as a personality is to be regarded rather as her father s
daughter than as her husband s wife. quot; (ds.dial.pipex.com). This heredity is emphasised
throughout the play. O Neill uses the idea of heredity to good effect in both Long Day s Journey into
Night and Desire Under the Elms, in Long Day s Journey into Night, Edmund becomes the focal

Essay on American Capitalist Society In The 19th Century
Herman Melville s Utilization of Bartleby the Scrivener: the Story of

Herman Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street scrutinizes the alienation of labor,
the social ideologies and the dehumanizing consequences of the American capitalist society in the

century. Bartleby is the main character in the story. The other characters in the story, Ginger Nut,

The worker could learn a new skill and get promoted, but will that necessarily change his or her
imprisonment of the wage labor system?
Karl Marx wrote about labor divisions and used the example of the assembly line workers at a car
manufacturing company. The worker s job was to continually attach one bolt without ever having the
satisfaction of completing a whole automobile. This worker has no creative power to freely build a
transmission in the morning and then the freedom of creating a new braking system in the afternoon.
For as soon as the distribution of labor comes into being, each man has a particular exclusive sphere of
activity, Lander Shafer 2 which is forced upon him and from which he can not escape (Marx 160). The
identical theorem exists in the offices of Wall Street for the scriveners who copy legal documents.
Bartleby, Turkey and Nippers execute the same automatic task throughout the day. The only relief is a
possible proofreading of the documents for any errors. The Lawyer is the creative expert and the task
of the scriveners is to copy what another has created with no input or skills of their own. Bartleby s
actions can be supported by Marx: The alienation of the worker in his product means not only that his
labour becomes an object, an external existence, but that

Comparison Of Oedipus The King And Hedda Gabler
Ibsen and Sophocles are two distinct writers from different periods and culture. They both wrote plays
and stories with strong protagonists who the readers don t enjoy, but, whose fate is somewhat tragic in
sense that elicits the reader s sympathy for the sense of wasted potential and tragic loss. In sense, I
agree with this statement because from both authors books like Ibsen Hedda Gabler and Sophocles
Oedipus The King ; the readers did not like the main characters, but the reader does sympathize. The
protagonists from both plays do portray themselves as people others don t like; but as the plays goes

Self Confidence Satire
Dear editors of every major fashion cooperation,
The issue with self confidence has been one that has gone on for decades. Since time began, humans
have compared themselves to each other, and put themselves down because of it. As media and
technology have improved, the level of self confidence in the average human has gone down. The
importance of self confidence is something I, and many other girls, feel very strongly about. I ve seen
countless blog posts, tweets, posts on Instagram or Facebook, all talking about your magazines or

negativity coming through when talking about these magazines. I have observed many reviews

And that may be true, but when it comes down to it, it s very difficult. People, specifically men, don t
necessarily realize that when the message is splattered across social media platforms, on television, in
magazines, in stores, it s hard to ignore the message getting thrown in your face. Some people may not
understand what the big fuss is about. I hear people preach about the importance of loving the body
you have, not the one you wish you had. The same people who tell you those things, are more than
likely to be one who is considered to be normal weight as deemed by the magazines. [Designers] want
you to believe that you are not beautiful enough or young enough or thin enough, and they do that by
draping cadaverous 16 year olds across double page spreads so you will feel so wretched that you will
have to buy their products to make yourself feel better (J.K. Rowling). This statement could not have
said this any better. The fashion and beauty industries today are so hell bent on making completely
unrealistic and unreachable goals that I am not even sure they realize the dire impact they have on
women of all ages. It pains me to know that people out there are actually getting paid lots of money to
alter girls ages, tell women how to live, and influencing their decisions about the biggest of things;
their own health. If people are going to preach about

The War Of Camp Lewis
Prepare for war! That is what you hear and your heart stops while your jaw opens and you gasp for air
that is not there. While the history and establishment of Camp Lewis is not as important as preparing
for war, it is important to know the past in order to help posture and mold the future of tomorrow. The
idea for Camp Lewis was fought for by the civilian populace of Pierce County in Washington State.
Late in1916, as war continued to escalate in Europe, a private group of concerned citizens gathered at
American Lake to organize a training program designed for civilian personnel. The program was
designed to encourage readiness among the community in preparation for the possibility of going to
war in Europe. One of the attending civilians was a cadet named Stephen Appleby. Mr. Appleby (a
former Captain in the Minnesota National Guard) was vice president of the Northwest Business Men s

community had established as possibility of use for the Army. Captain Richard Parks (Army survey

This paper was prepared for PPOL V371, Section 01, Spring 2016, taught by Professor Aitalieva.
Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to give further knowledge about the Temporary Assistance for
Needy Families Program offered in the United States (TANF). With looking at the history of the
program, it allows the reader to get an improved understanding of why the need for the program was
developed, and have an understanding at which direction the program is going to be going. The
research will share the environments of the current policy, effectiveness and efficiency, and offer some
possible policy alternatives that will either benefit the program or make it more difficult to allocate the
proper funding in order to continue to help low income families in need.
Policy Description
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF) was created to help and provide cash

The NFL Lockout Essay
Business deals happen every day; Contracts expire, renew, and are negotiated without the public
knowing for many large corporations and even sporting leagues. However, some contract changes
cannot escape the media s attention. The National Football League (NFL) is facing an expiration of its
Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) (NFL Lockout Now One Month Old). Currently, the
agreement has expired and NFL team owners have selfishly chosen to lock the players out. The term
lockout means that the players are essentially not allowed to participate in any team activities or duties
until the owner s rescind this lockout. While many believe this is simply a battle between team owners

Never the less, we need to look deeper into the negotiations to see what is really being argues and who
is genuinely at fault. One of the bigger arguing points of the expiration and creation of the new
Collective Bargaining Agreement was the expansion of the football season from 16 games to 18
games. While, at the surface this may seem as though it is simple two games , it would be a dramatic
change to many season aspects. Firstly, this would reduce the number of pre season games from four
to two. This lessens the team s real life preparation time. Which gives both players and coaches real
scenarios to base decisions about who to play, what players to release from the team and generally
how to plan for their seasons. Another great thing about preseason is it gives fans a chance to see their
teams in a cheaper setting, as these games normally do not have full price tickets. Additionally, there
was great concern from players about health reasoning, as a 16 game season is already cruel to a
football player s body. Many players are often on the sideline for at least a small portion of the season
with some sort of injury. Adding two more games only increases the chances for injury, which is
accelerated with the short preparation time in a shorter preseason. You may ask at this point, what the
owner s standpoint may be. Unfortunately, it is most simply as being stated to recuperate more income
from potential income losses. Obviously, the owners only see money in the

Smoking in vehicles with under age of 18 should ban the law and children whose parents smoke
around should also be illegal because in a small enclosed space such as a vehicle with a sunroof has
more toxic air which expose breathing more rapidly. According to the author Leada Grove, created an
article from AL.com wrote that 80 percent of smoke is invisivble and opening windows does not

Eden Park Research Paper
Introduction: The Colosseum and Eden park are both widely known structures. Eden park commonly
known to have held the 2011 rugby world cup. The Colosseum in Rome was known to have held
gladiator games and many other historical entertainment in roman times. Entry ways: In rome the
Colosseum has over LXXX (80) entry ways, this was made for quick seating before the entertainment
began. These door ways had roman numerals on top so people with tickets could find the entryway
corresponding to their ticket. Eden park has a similar system. People buy their tickets online, then they
are able to go to the game and find the doorway corresponding to their ticket and find their seat to
enjoy the entertainment. Over the years this has become an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The sports played at eden park are rugby, cricket, and soccer. This is the place where people can
support their country or team, in playing that sport they are interested in. rugby has had a huge part in
supporting eden park, due to the 2011 rugby world cup being held there.
Founders: the founder of Eden park was a man named Harry Ryan, as he walked past this piece of
land he saw a space where he could play his favourite game, cricket. Soon enough construction began
and soon Eden park was born. The idea for the Colosseum came from a man named Titus Flavius, this
was due to the amount of people coming to the games before the Colosseum was built. Up to 60,000
people would come and watch the games in a field. Titus saw that too many people were coming so he
thought about building a structure that was able to hold up to 80,000 people at a time. This was also
for people to be comfortable at the games. Conclusion: In conclusion the Colosseum and eden park
have their differences and similarities. They both carry their own history and have a lot of stories to
tell. Without the Colosseum we probably wouldn t have most of the structures we see today, and many
people should be grateful for the time and effort put into building these

Socrates Views On Socrates
To question what no man has questioned before, that is what we praise Socrates for. Socrates
Philosophies grew out of his questioning of the social norm. Using this technique, he seems to always
focus on three main aspects: justice, virtue, and morality. Socrates claims that he has no wisdom. He
states, I know I have no wisdom, great or small. The world has an infinite number of possibilities and
anything he declares understanding, is extremely minimal compared to the possibilities that exist in
the world, there is so much out there that hasn t been exposed yet. Socrates had many thoughts and
ideas over things people never even took time to think about. He thought differently and always more
intensely than others. Socrates says that knowledge is essential to a person. He concluded that a
person s evil and wrong actions come from their ignorance and their failure to investigate. He was also
convinced that no one knowingly does wrong, if a person does not know what is right, then that
person will do wrong, but in the other hand, if the person knows what is right, they will most
definitely do right. He once mentioned that the unexamined life is not worth living introducing the
idea of Universal Definitions, meaning although individual things may vary and be constructed
differently the definitions of how they are similar, are permanent. The most important thing about
Socrates was the fact that he was a teacher. He taught anywhere and everywhere, he even went up to
people,

The Great Reset By Richard Florida
The Great Reset by Richard Florida discusses the many issues that have occurred due to various
recessions and depressions. The book provides an outlook and realistic perspective on how he
perceives the current crisis will play out. Florida states that the new normal will not be as focused on
cars, houses, and suburbs. We will not be as centered on the ownership society which George W. Bush
discussed. This is an upsetting realization. Owning a house is not what it used to be. Growing up,
owning a house was a big dream of mine. With a new economy like we are in, owning a house tends
to be more of a hindrance. I can understand where his point of view is coming from. In today s society
you have to be able to have a flexibility, which sometimes involves moving to a new place. Renting
houses or apartments is going to become the greater choice. Many of the resets in the past have
recovered and actually brought about some good aspects. For instance, the first reset gave us a
technological revolution where energy systems were created and many crucial inventions were made.
This reset also helped in terms of transportation. Transit systems became an important mode of
transportation and they have become such an important mode of transportation in big cities. Through
these times of reset, there has been a large increase in immigration. Although many people viewed this
as another way for jobs to be taken away, it has had beneficial aspects. Many cities grew larger and

The Causitive Agent of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever Essay
The Causitive Agent of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
The Bacteria
Rickettsia rickettsii is the small, aerobic gram negative bacterium that is the cause Rocky Mountain
spotted fever in humans (and other vertebrates). They are obligate, intracellular bacteria that range in
size form 0.2x0.5 Āµm to 0.3x2.0Āµm. Rickettsia belong to the phylum alpha protobacteria, which are
capable of growing in low levels of nutrients, and have a long generation time relative to other gram
negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli. In humans rickettsiae preferentially reside in the nucleus or
cytoplasm of cells lining small to medium size blood vessels.
Rickettsia enter host cell by inducing phagocytosis, then immediately escape the phagosome to grow

The bite of an infected tick is the primary mode of transmission to humans, or other vertebrate hosts,
though it is also possible, but extremely rare for infection to result from exposure to crushed tick
tissues, fluids, or feces. (http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/rmsf/Natural_Hx.htm)
The Disease
RMSF is the most common fatal human tick borne disease in the United States, with a minimal
average of 351 confirmed human cases occurring annually and undoubtedly many more going
unreported (Niebylski et al.).
There are three major symptoms associated with RMSF which usually appear after an incubation
period of five to ten days: fever, headache, and a rash. The rash is a diffuse macular (featuring
elevated discoloration) rash, is most prominent on wrists and ankles, which will usually erupt three or
four days after the onset of fever. All three of the primary symptoms are not always present in all cases
of RMSF, making it much harder to correctly diagnose the disease. Other symptoms are general
symptoms common with other types of infections such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
Despite the name the disease is endemic in the Carolinas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, and is less
common in the Rocky Mountain area. About 95% of reported cases occur between April and
September. (Lyon and Kelsey).
Case fatality rate can be as high as 30% for untreated patients. With quick diagnosis and proper
treatment fatalities are extremely rare. The most

As a result, there are more jobs available than there are qualified technician. Most automotive technicians work in good environments. Automotive technicians work in a well ventilated and lit repair shops or some will work in the pits at a racetrack but, these locations can be very Tumultuous. I hope to be working in the pits. Technicians work full time hours and overtime is common. Technicians can work in many urban areas, including dealerships, and independent shops. Automotive technicians must first, show up a few minutes early. In these ten minutes or so, they should unlock their toolbox, clean their work bay and tools, and check their emails if necessary. Then they should open up the shop, and work on any unfinished projects. Throughout the day, more work may show up. Depending on the severity of the work, it should either be set aside until there is time or should be done immediately to get the vehicle back to the customer. • 3. Five Creative Principles in Ancient Egypt There are five creative principles in ancient Egypt which still have great resonance in current culture. Each principle brings not only a greater understanding of yourself, but also betterment of yourself. They strive to bring out the best in you. These principles are, autogenesis, renewal, individuation, reflective speech, and complementarity. Autogenesis, is enacted by many historical figures and events in ancient Egypt and early African Christianity. Autogenesis is viewed as a rebirth of oneself, creating yourself out of nothing, or being both your own mother and father. Being ones own mother and father can be explained by providing for yourself. A major example of autogenesis is the scarab beetle, or dung beetle. The scarab beetle is thought to be brought into existence by itself because the ancient Egyptians viewed baby scarab beetles emerging from dung, with no obvious source as to their creator. In reality, the scarab beetle lays its young in the dung, which provides perfect conditions for the baby beetles to hatch. It is because of this that the scarab beetle is viewed as a symbol of autogenesis. The sun god, Re, also displays autogenesis by setting and rising each day. Re recreates himself each morning by emerging from the darkness. Along this idea of the suns journey, when the scarab beetle moves its dung it is viewed as the same thing as the sun passing through the sky. Autogenesis is enacted in people to better them. It can mean bettering skills, awareness, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I Wondered as Lonely as a Cloud This lyrical poem by the author who was a pioneer of the Romantic movement, uses the earths elements and human emotions to take him back and recollect how much something had an an effect it had on him at the time. Around the time he wrote this poem in 1804 ???? He is wandering alone up hill and down dales and comes across a vision so beautiful that it is imprinted in his mind forever. Memories are what make us and without them we would not be able to manage. The image of that memory, is what makes this poem so lovely that you feel at peace at the tranquil setting when you read it. It is also clever that he uses the title of the poem as the 1st line in stanza 1. Language is figurative and the reader is left in no doubt what the poet is saying as the words seem to dance along fluttering, twinkle, tossing glee and bliss . You have the use of personification where daffodils are personified as a crowd of people, also as dancers and this continues throughout the poem. Where he mentions never ending this is an exaggeration as his eyes could only see a certain distance away. The use a metaphor is how he describes the memories he has when he mentions inward eye . Alliteration is also used for example, sparkling and sprightly as well as beneath and besides . Use of O er instead of Over is called Archiac i.e it is abbreviated. This was used a lot by Romantic poets to give it an oldern Romantic quality and also fit in line with the meter The meter is regular and consistent and comes over as tidy and orderly. Bibolography. Truman decided to drop two atomic bombs on Japan. Truman s decision to drop the bombs saved many American lives, instead of sending good soldiers on the ground to attack the Japanese soldiers. The point of dropping the bombs on Japan, was to force them to surrender. Nagasaki and Hiroshima were two of the cities that had the biggest concentration of Japanese soldiers. Dropping the bombs on the heavily militarized cities forced the Japanese to surrender. Immediately, more than 130,000 people died. Though his music he represented young culture, racial injustice, peaceful protest and his black identity. Produced with Motown Records, his album What s Going On made it to the top ten on Rolling Stone s 500 Greatest Albums, (Dyson). Motown Records is known for its crossover music and artists that sang about things that would not create controversy in the political world, however their artists began to address social issues following the release of Marvin Gaye s What s Going On. Though Gaye s message was not direct until the release of this album, he represented a rage against the black stereotype and political issues associated with his black identity at a much larger scale being one of Motown Record s most successful artist. At an early age, Marvin Gaye sang in Church Choir and was influenced to explore salvation through his reverend father. He grew up on the belief that salvation was through God and his later music reflects that same belief through spreading love (Cross). • 7. The Enlightenment Essay Newton s publication of Principia Mathematica in 1677, as well as the Glorious Revolution, paved the way for the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment. Promoting critical thinking about the world and about humankind, the Enlightenment based itself primarily on scientific questioning and empirical analysis. Scientists and philosophers of the eighteenth century questioned the traditional ideas about the universe, society, and culture, and rejected the Aristotelian worldview, skeptical because of its lack of verifiable evidence. Denouncing God as the creator of the universe inspired the thinkers of the time to apply the newly founded scientific method in discovering the origin of all existence, leading to the scientific achievements of Copernicus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Enlightenment s secularized emphasis on rationality, rather than religion, fueled artists renewed interests in classical antiquity, as the geometric harmony of classical art and architecture seemed to embody Enlightenment ideals (Gardner 847). At the same time, the excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum in the mid eighteenth century turned men s thoughts to Antiquity (Praeger 382). In 1764, Winkelmann wrote his well known History of Ancient Art, in which he contrasted the noble simplicity and calm grandeur of Ancient Greece with the irresponsibility, extravagance, and impertinent fire of the Baroque period (Cumming 250). During the French Revolution, even Napoleon Bonaparte took advantage of the stylistic potentialities inherent in the Classical Revival, and enhanced the effect to produce the so called Empirical style (Praeger 382). Thus the Greek Revival became by infiltration the style of the Court (Praeger 382). Architects of the Neoclassical period turned away from the theatricality and ostentation of Baroque and Rococo design and instead embraced a more streamlined classicism by incorporating Romanesque themes into works, such as blank walls except for a repeated garland motif near the top, columns, and domes. All the time dedicated to their sport takes away time to complete homework, eat, work, and rest. College athletes should receive compensation for the amount of time dedicated to their sport, for the amount of revenue brought into the university or college, to be able to better support themselves and their family and benefit from the profit made by apparel company contracts with the university or college. Playing a sport in college, especially at Division 1 schools are very time consuming between practicing and playing games. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) allows 20 hours of practice a week for athletes, but practices often last longer ( How do College Athletes... ). Collegiate athletes often do not have enough time to set aside for their classes. Many of these athletes are spending more time playing their sport than managing their schoolwork. If the athletes do not show up to every practice, then they tend to feel uncommitted and disincluded. According to an NCAA survey on college athletes, the most demanding sports are Division 1 and Division 2 baseball. Division 1 basketball and football are very demanding as well (O Shaughnessy). This plague cycle would disappear and reappear in roughly eleven year cycles. The last strike of this plague cycle was in 747 in Naples. This series of plagues were called the Justinian plague named after Emperor Justinian s rule and it is also referred to as the early medieval pandemic (EMP). Justinian s rule before the plague was stable however during the plague the stability of his rule plummeted. As stated before, during the plague Justinian drew blame from his people because of the devastation. However the plague reduced population drastically, those on arable areas by one half in fifty years and those in dry areas by a lesser amount. It created a great depression, forced readjustment of population, altered relations among parts of the Empire, and created conditions which were sensitive to accidents. David And Goliath Essay I used to attend a private catholic school back in the Philippines until I came here when I was eight years old, and I do not remember the story about David and Goliath. Unless my teacher talked about during religious class then I completely spaced out. However, since learning about the different David s, it has become one of my favorite stories due to each figure s place in the story line. The story is about a young brave shepherd named David who saves Israel by challenging and killing a giant named Goliath with nothing more than a slingshot and a bag of stones ( The Human Form in Michelangelo s David and Bernini s David , Rybicki). The two David s that stood out to me the most were Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni s and Gian Lorenzo Bernini s. • 13. The Importance Of The Film Incentive Program On Friday July 10, 2017, Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill into law that effectively discontinued the film incentive program in Michigan. While the state will keep the Michigan Film Office for the time being, this is a major hit to a budding film industry. Since 2007, the incentive program helped to attract the production of Hollywood films to Michigan. Notable films produced while the program was intact include Batman v. He changed the program to be a cash based incentives which would cap at $25 million. Some view the discontinuation on the program as a lack of support for creativity in Michigan. There are many beneficial reasons for incentive based programs to be used in the state of Michigan. While many may view them as some useless program, there is much upside to have them. For example, these programs support local film makers, make locations more desired, create jobs, work well on a credit based system, and provide a competitive advantage. On the subject of supporting local film makes, in response to Michigan eliminating its incentive program, local filmmakers were highly upset. One filmmaker stated they don t care about what we care about as creative people, as entrepreneurs, as artists, as people who are trying to make a living. (Egan, p. 1) While the state did what they felt was right, discontinuing the program created friction within the film making community. One of the states key jobs is to provide for all citizens. By stopping the program, this does not happen. Much like any state, Michigan seeks to become a more desired location on the national scale. • 14. The Historical Period Of Chinese Art Essay The 20th century is a historical period for Chinese art history. It is the time period where China was ruled by Mao Zedong (1942 1976) and Propaganda Art was introduced. Propaganda art is not just a fine art. It is an information transmission art that contains clear meaning, and the most popular political vehicle for propaganda in the 20th century of China. Propaganda art must have considerable artistic appeal to mobilize image, color, composition, form and other factors to form a strong visual effect. Its screen often has a strong visual center, unique artistic style and design characteristic. However, during that time, the public did not have awareness of collecting art work. Thus, little Propaganda art still exists today even though many of the propaganda posters were reprinted over and over, and pasted in various streets during that time. Propaganda art played an important role in the spiritual and cultural life of the Chinese people. As propaganda art has a special social status during the Revolutionary War and Socialist Construction period of China, it has attracted many successful artists to engage in the creation of posters. This resulted in different forms of propaganda art being produced. As a result, propaganda art had become an indispensable form of Chinese artistic creation in the 20th century. From the artistic point of view, there are numerous different types of propaganda art during the different time periods. The main forms of propaganda art are woodcuts, ... Leaders of each religion, from Joshua and King David to Constantine and Richard the Lion Hearted to Muhammad and Saladin, have engaged in holy wars to spread or defend their communities or empires. Wiesenthal was an architect before he was captured by the Nazis. After he was set free, he dedicated his life to finding Nazi war criminals and persecuting them in court. Later on in his life, he wrote a memoir, The Sunflower. It was about one of his many experiences at the Lemberg concentration camp where he got roped in to listening to a dynig SS soldier, Karl. Right before, Wiesenthal leaves Karl s room, Karl asks for Wiesenthal, on behalf of all the Jews he persecuted, for forgiveness. Wiesenthal left Karl s room without forgiving him, and then asks the readers, What would I have done? At the end of The Sunflower, people who Wiesenthal picked to respond to his question, had their answers published. The most interesting response was Jose Hobday s. Hobday believed that Wiesenthal should have apologized to Karl because it would have given Karl a sense of peace, making it easier for him to pass on. Hobday has the correct answer to Wiesenthal s question because even though all of the Jews that Karl persecuted are dead and will not be able to apologize to him in person, Karl just wants someone to know that he is sorry for his actions. There s plenty of room at the bottom ; this statement by Richard Feynman in 1959 during a presentation to a meeting of the American Physical Society, is widely accepted as the spark that initiated the present nano age1. Nano, dwarf in Greek, is defined as one billionth, it follows that the nanoscale is measured in nanometres, or 10 9 m. To put this in perspective; the average strand of a human hair is roughly 75,000 nm in diameter, or from the other extreme 1 nm is the length of 10 hydrogen atoms lined up end to end. Nanotechnology can be difficult to define, as its definition is often engineered to suit the researcher and their field; this resulted in a need of a general working definition, which the national nanotechnology initiative (NNI) established []. Nanotechnology is thus defined as possessing the following features; Nanotechnology involves research and technology development at the 1 nm to 100 nm range. Nanotechnology builds on the capability to organize or manipulate at the atomic scale. Nanotechnology creates and uses structures that have novel properties because of their small size. . 2. Nanotechnology Nanoscience involves a study of nanotechnology and nanomaterials, of which at least one of the dimensions is in 1 100 nm range. The local community does not really affect Morrisons as a whole just the areas stores. If there is only Morrisons in the local community with a lack of main competitors such as ASDA, Tesco and Salisbury s, then it is very likely that Morrisons will be successful because the little businesses in the area pose little threat. Competitors The competitors of Morrisons are one of the most important stakeholders. Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury s and smaller businesses such as Aldi and Lidl are the top competitors of Morrisons. They decide many factors such as prices, location, products and services that force Morrisons to change. If a competitor decides to lower a products price, then Morrisons will most likely have to lower the price too. If Morrisons does not do this then the competitor will sell more products and attract more customers, some that may be currently Morrison s shoppers. Competitors can also have an effect on where Morrisons opens a shop. If for example there are 2 Tesco stores in an area, there is not much sense in opening a Morrisons store nearby. If a competitor of Morrisons starts selling a product that Morrisons currently does not, it is in Morrison s interest to also supply that product. This is the same with a service. So if for example ASDA start delivering to a specific area, then Morrisons will most probably do so too as this can potentially lose them many customers. • 22. Greed In The Pardoners Tale Throughout literature, relationships can often be found between the author of a story and the story that he writes, whether intentional or not. In Geoffrey Chaucer s story, Canterbury Tales, many of the characters on the pilgrimage make this statement evident with the tales that they tell. Such a distinct relationship can be made between the character of the Pardoner and the tale that he tells. Through the Prologue to the Pardoner s tale, the character of the Pardoner is revealed. Although the Pardoner displays many important traits, the most prevalent is his greed. Throughout the prologue, the Pardoner displays his greed and even admits that the only thing he cares about is money: quot;I preach nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the Pardoner is extremely greedy, he continues to try and teach that quot;Avarice is the root of all evil quot; (6). He explains to the pilgrims how money is the root of all evil, and then he takes the money from them in exchange for forgiveness of their sins. This action could be seen in two ways. Perhaps the Pardoner is a very greedy, trecherous man, or perhaps Chaucer is trying to jab at Christianity by alluding to Christ. The characters in his tale display great hypocrisy as well. As the tale begins, the friends all act very trustworthy and faithful towards all of their friends. They nobly make a decision to risk their lives while trying to slay their friend s murderer. As they talk about their challenge, they pledge quot;to live and die each of them for the other, / As if he were his own blood brother quot; (241 242). At the end of the tale, the quot;brothers quot; begin to reveal their true nature. They all turn on each other in an attempt to steal the treasure for themselves. All of the loyalty, which they had pledged, was simply a lie and no faithfulness remained. While the two older quot;brother quot; plotted to kill the younger, the younger quot;brother quot; plotted quot;to kill them both and never to repent quot; (388). This is the first question asked in animated film, Inside Out, and its director Pete Docter s mind after noticing his daughter s personality changing as she grew up. Using his daughter as inspiration, Pete Docter pitched the idea to Pixar studios where it was picked up immediately for production in 2009. He consulted with numerous child psychologists to create the movie about 11 year old girl, Riley Anderson, moving from Minnesota to San Francisco and her personified emotions to guide her through. Because Pixar s movies are family friendly, the film s crew cleverly used color and creative mise en scene to tell the elaborate story between Riley s mind, the world around her, and other character s personality traits. The director has an extremely flexible medium due to the fact that the film is an animation, having full control of the character s design, setting, lighting, effects, and anything in between. It displays all throughout the movie, causing a great contrast, when shifting from a character s mind to their environment, mainly being Riley. Through a series of montages and flashbacks of Minnesota, the audience can see that the scenes are always lighted in pastel like color, This is to represent Riley s comfort of her former home in contrast of San Francisco which is depicted in desaturated colors. However, flat roofing systems are more susceptible to water damage, punctures, and other damage that makes regular roof repair an unfortunate reality. Until the last decade or so, which has seen the introduction of incredibly strong and durable synthetic materials such as EPMD and PVC onto the market, most flat roofs were constructed using tar, gravel, and sheet metal, which while effective, have problems with durability and whose look is simply not associated with traditional residential buildings. ... Weak Support System One of the benefits, and potential weaknesses, of a flat roof is the fact that it requires a much less robust support structure to keep the roof in place. However, many roofing contractors will then create a less than ideal roofing structure which can degrade quickly and become a threat to the integrity of your home. • 30. Evolution or Revolution Evolution or Revolution? Recurring themes, ideas and conventions in the dramas of Ibsen, O Neill and Shepard. Throughout the history of drama, playwrights have appropriated the ideas of their predecessors for their own use, sometimes building on them and making the idea their own. American drama is no exception. American drama has its roots firmly entrenched in modern European drama, this is illustrated through the influence of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen on American playwright Eugene O Neill. O Neill once wrote, quot; Not long ago I read all of Ibsen s plays again. The same living truth is there. This illustrates how this convention, mastered by Ibsen, remains unchanged as it is passed down from generation to generation. Shepard claims in his biography that he quot;never read Ibsen quot; (Schewey p.110), therefore if Shepard did not appropriate this idea from Ibsen it is logical to assume that he appropriated it from O Neill whom he has already openly declared his debt to. This is an example of a Modern European convention having a direct influence on American drama. Another idea that remains relatively unchanged through the course of recent history is that of heredity. Heredity is a theme that features strongly in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler as Ibsen himself states in a letter to the Count Moritz Prozor, quot; The title of the play is Hedda Gabler [italics mine]. My intention in giving it this name was to indicate that Hedda as a personality is to be regarded rather as her father s daughter than as her husband s wife. quot; (ds.dial.pipex.com). The worker could learn a new skill and get promoted, but will that necessarily change his or her imprisonment of the wage labor system? Karl Marx wrote about labor divisions and used the example of the assembly line workers at a car manufacturing company. The worker s job was to continually attach one bolt without ever having the satisfaction of completing a whole automobile. This worker has no creative power to freely build a transmission in the morning and then the freedom of creating a new braking system in the afternoon. For as soon as the distribution of labor comes into being, each man has a particular exclusive sphere of activity, Lander Shafer 2 which is forced upon him and from which he can not escape (Marx 160). The identical theorem exists in the offices of Wall Street for the scriveners who copy legal documents. Bartleby, Turkey and Nippers execute the same automatic task throughout the day. One of the bigger arguing points of the expiration and creation of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement was the expansion of the football season from 16 games to 18 games. While, at the surface this may seem as though it is simple two games , it would be a dramatic change to many season aspects. Firstly, this would reduce the number of pre season games from four to two. This lessens the team s real life preparation time. Which gives both players and coaches real scenarios to base decisions about who to play, what players to release from the team and generally how to plan for their seasons. Another great thing about preseason is it gives fans a chance to see their teams in a cheaper setting, as these games normally do not have full price tickets. Additionally, there was great concern from players about health reasoning, as a 16 game season is already cruel to a football player s body. Many players are often on the sideline for at least a small portion of the season with some sort of injury. Adding two more games only increases the chances for injury, which is accelerated with the short preparation time in a shorter preseason. • 45. Socrates Views On Socrates To question what no man has questioned before, that is what we praise Socrates for. Socrates Philosophies grew out of his questioning of the social norm. Using this technique, he seems to always focus on three main aspects: justice, virtue, and morality. Socrates claims that he has no wisdom. He states, I know I have no wisdom, great or small. The world has an infinite number of possibilities and anything he declares understanding, is extremely minimal compared to the possibilities that exist in the world, there is so much out there that hasn t been exposed yet. Socrates had many thoughts and ideas over things people never even took time to think about. He thought differently and always more intensely than others. Socrates says that knowledge is essential to a person. He concluded that a person s evil and wrong actions come from their ignorance and their failure to investigate. He was also convinced that no one knowingly does wrong, if a person does not know what is right, then that person will do wrong, but in the other hand, if the person knows what is right, they will most definitely do right. He once mentioned that the unexamined life is not worth living introducing the idea of Universal Definitions, meaning although individual things may vary and be constructed differently the definitions of how they are similar, are permanent. The most important thing about Socrates was the fact that he was a teacher. He taught anywhere and everywhere, he even went up to people, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Great Reset By Richard Florida The Great Reset by Richard Florida discusses the many issues that have occurred due to various recessions and depressions. The book provides an outlook and realistic perspective on how he perceives the current crisis will play out. Florida states that the new normal will not be as focused on cars, houses, and suburbs. We will not be as centered on the ownership society which George W. Bush discussed. This is an upsetting realization. Owning a house is not what it used to be. Growing up, owning a house was a big dream of mine. With a new economy like we are in, owning a house tends to be more of a hindrance. I can understand where his point of view is coming from. In today s society you have to be able to have a flexibility, which sometimes involves moving to a new place. Renting houses or apartments is going to become the greater choice. Many of the resets in the past have recovered and actually brought about some good aspects. For instance, the first reset gave us a technological revolution where energy systems were created and many crucial inventions were made. This reset also helped in terms of transportation. Transit systems became an important mode of transportation and they have become such an important mode of transportation in big cities. Through these times of reset, there has been a large increase in immigration. Although many people viewed this as another way for jobs to be taken away, it has had beneficial aspects. Many cities grew larger and more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The bite of an infected tick is the primary mode of transmission to humans, or other vertebrate hosts, though it is also possible, but extremely rare for infection to result from exposure to crushed tick tissues, fluids, or feces. (http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/rmsf/Natural_Hx.htm) The Disease RMSF is the most common fatal human tick borne disease in the United States, with a minimal average of 351 confirmed human cases occurring annually and undoubtedly many more going unreported (Niebylski et al.). There are three major symptoms associated with RMSF which usually appear after an incubation period of five to ten days: fever, headache, and a rash. The rash is a diffuse macular (featuring elevated discoloration) rash, is most prominent on wrists and ankles, which will usually erupt three or four days after the onset of fever. All three of the primary symptoms are not always present in all cases of RMSF, making it much harder to correctly diagnose the disease. Other symptoms are general symptoms common with other types of infections such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Despite the name the disease is endemic in the Carolinas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, and is less common in the Rocky Mountain area. About 95% of reported cases occur between April and September. (Lyon and Kelsey). Case fatality rate can be as high as 30% for untreated patients. With quick diagnosis and proper treatment fatalities are extremely rare. The most ...
