My boy jack is a very powerful movie that really moved me in a way that no other
movie has in a long time. When I found out that this is about Rudyard Kipling s son

story from the beginning as we get to know both Kipling and Jack. We spend most
of the time with both characters as we see their interactions with the females in the
house and listening to some speeches of Rudyard Kipling about the war. We also
watch scenes where the father does what it takes to get his son into the military,
while also watching how frustrated jack becomes as he fails his medical exams.
We further on see the rain soaked battle that Jack leads one day after his 18th
birthday. He is unskilled and has a group of soldiers behind him who are full of
fear. All of a sudden, Jack is gone, not only from the film, but from their lives.
As jack goes missing, the whole family is covered with sadness and fear of the
worst as they go through thousands of pictures of wounded soldiers. The pictures
they see shows them what exactly the risk they took and how dangerous it is letting
their son go to war. They look at the pictures one by one interviewing different
soldiers who fought anywhere near the battle that day.
At this point, Kipling becomes exhausted as they have been looking at the pictures

Another way in which language can prevent or resolve a conflict is by its role in
nationalism that implies a process of unification. Unification can either be the cause
of a conflict because your local identity is attacked or be the cause of a resolution

into a nation. In the process of building a unified nation, a unified language must
appear as well. Smith (1998), argues that the unification of language, for example, is

a way of making this problem between two parties one that involves two complete
countries. The individual differences disappear and the problem is now a binary one
with extreme opposing sides, each being the whole people of each country as they are

In April of 1898 America finally declared war against Spain and this was as a result
of the sinking of the Battleship Maine in Havana in February of the same year.
After months of war and wrangles, the war came to an end after the signing of the
Treaty of Paris on 10th of December 1898.1 The end of the war saw the Spaniards
loss complete control over majority of their remaining empires aboard including Cuba

The conflict and wrangles between Cuba and Spain resulted to about 100,000 deaths
of Cubans.3 Majority of the Cubans from the suburbs and rural areas were herded by
the Spanish in camps where they suffered of starvation and other diseases. Sanitation
and insufficient food was the main concern of these people and this resulted to
massive casualties. The highlighted injustices, together with other political
motivations led to America s intervention in the year 1898. Subsequently, the
Americans were able to overthrow the Spanish rule rendering both Cuba and
Philippines as part its colonies.

While one cannot simply deny America s colonialist presuppositions in involving
itself with the war, it is clear that the main driving force and motivation into the war
was founded on the development of America s national identity that held the nation
as being just, democratic and humane.4 As such, America had a duty to protect the
oppressed regardless of their nationality and race. America s victory over Spain, and
the restoration of peace among the Cuban people was an affirmation that America
was a democratic and just nation. To a large extend, this victory placed America in

The book A Night Divided, is a great book. It is about a girl named Gerta and her
family. She has an older brother Fritz, a brother Dominic, her father (papa) and her
mother Frau Lowe. The Berlin Wallhad just gone up after the Second World War
separating East and West Germany, and her and her family live in the West. One
night her brother Dominic and her father decide they need to get through the wall
for work without guards noticing because the consequences could be deadly. Her
brother and Father make it across but they cannot find a way to come back
because the wall has been added on and is even more dangerous now. Gerta ends
up not being able to talk to her father or brother for at least 4 years. One day Gerta
was walking to school with her best friend Anna when she see s her brother,
Dominic on the other side of the wall and waves. She eventually ended up seeing
her dad to but then she got caught by an officer by the name of Officer Muller. She
ended up getting away from the Officer but she knew he would be watching her
every move from now on. But everyday when she goes to school she see s them on
the platform and her dad is doing a dance that he always did for her as a kid when
they were little. But, he continues doing the digging scene from the dance trying to
give her a signal that he wants her to do something or he is going to do something.
But if Gerta tries to cross that wall it could be deadly and we don t know what would
happen.
The three main characters of the book are Gerta, her brother Fritz, and Anna which
is Gerta s best friend. Gerta is the main character and she is very determined, brave
and loves her family very much and wants them all together again. Fritz is Gerta s
older brother who has her back and is with her for everything. He is a hard working
man and will have to go and be a soldier if they do not make it to the other side of
the wall in time. Anna is Gerta s best friend and they always are there for each
other. When one day Anna s older brother Peter tried to escape and Gerta knew that
Peter was going to escape but did not tell Anna and their best friend relationship

The Cold War was a major event in the U.S. and Soviet Union s history. The main
reason that these two countries entered into the Cold War after World War II was
power. The USSR and United States had two very different perspectives on power
coming out of World War II. This disagreement ultimately caused the Cold War

Russia s perspective after World War II was influenced by Joseph Stalin. Stalin, the
leader of the USSR at the time, was a merciless dictator. His main concern was
maintaining power and assuring the Soviet Union s influence worldwide. During

million citizens, they lost a large amount of their agricultural and industrial resources.
Stalin wanted those who were responsible for this mass destruction to pay and rebuild

The United States had a very different perspective than the Soviet Union. During
WWII, the U.S. experienced far less casualties than the USSR at only 400,000
deaths. It also managed to avoid gunfire on the U.S. mainland. These factors
influenced the U.S. perspective after the war. Harry S. Truman was a major
influence on the U.S. perspective after World War II as well. He came into the office
with very little experience internationally and believed that the U.S. needed to have
overseas opportunities in order to have a flourishing economy. To ensure this
