Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse
Crafting a persuasive essay on the topic of animal abuse presents a formidable challenge due to
the emotional and sensitive nature of the subject. This task demands a delicate balance between
conveying a powerful message and maintaining a rational, well-reasoned argument. The
difficulty lies not only in presenting a compelling case against animal abuse but also in
navigating the ethical complexities surrounding the topic.
Firstly, researching the extent and various forms of animal abuse requires confronting distressing
and sometimes horrifying information. Delving into case studies, statistics, and real-life accounts
can be emotionally taxing, making it challenging for the writer to maintain objectivity while
conveying the severity of the issue.
Additionally, striking the right tone is crucial. A persuasive essay on animal abuse should evoke
empathy and outrage without descending into sensationalism or emotional manipulation. The
writer must carefully choose language and examples to ensure that the reader is informed and
moved without feeling overwhelmed or manipulated.
Furthermore, constructing a coherent argument requires addressing the diverse perspectives on
animal rights and welfare. Recognizing the complexity of the issue is essential, as the writer
must anticipate and counter potential counterarguments while presenting a compelling case for
change.
In terms of structure, organizing the essay to effectively build and sustain the persuasive
argument adds another layer of difficulty. The introduction must grab the reader's attention,
establish the importance of the issue, and clearly present the thesis. Each subsequent paragraph
should provide evidence, examples, and reasoning to support the thesis, leading to a powerful
conclusion that leaves a lasting impression.
Despite these challenges, writing a persuasive essay on animal abuse is a worthwhile endeavor. It
allows the writer to contribute to raising awareness about a critical issue while advocating for
positive change. By carefully navigating the complexities of the topic and presenting a
compelling argument, the writer can make a meaningful impact on the reader's perception and
understanding.

A 2000 word comparative review of the ways different countries approach welfare, as
discussed on the unit.
The aim of this essay is to discuss and compare the British Welfare system with
Germany and Sweden s welfare systems. A welfare system is the structure of
welfare provisions and services that provide a specific social need, but it is not only
provided or organised solely by the government (Blakemore, 2001). It is a view that is
rooted in individual exchanges between five organisations (State/Government,
Market/Private Sector, Family/Kin networks, Local Communities and Civil Society).

Meg Whitman Leadership Style
How are leaders leading in the 21st century? Leaders are more effective and leading
organizations efficient and effectively. Organization culture and values are attributes
leaders are enhancing how values and culture is portrayed. Most individuals in
organizations work together, value their jobs, and want to be loyal to their employer.

organization are qualities that define people, organizations and products/services at
their most basic level. These values are establishes a foundation onto which

Nsa Wiretapping And The Nsa
Recent controversy has exposed one of the most heated and long standing debates
about the National Security Agency s (NSA) warrantless wiretapping. Although that
beginning of the program conducted by the NSA is unknown, it is easily assumed
that the NSA has been practicing such surveillance activities for a long time, or as
long as national security has been threatened. Nevertheless, the program started well
before the tragic events that unfolded on September 11, 2001, with the Bush
administration directing the NSA to begin secretly surveilling conversations between
U.S. citizens and suspected foreign terrorists. Post September 11, 2001, the United
Stateslearned that the Bush administration repeatedly authorized the NSA to monitor
phones calls and electronic mail (email) of people within the United States who were
suspected of terrorist activities within the homeland. The monitoring activities were
conducted without a warrant and in violation of the U.S. Constitution. The program
became more of a topic after the September 11th attacks, and was part of a broad
pattern of the executive branch using national security as an excuse for encroaching
on the privacy rights of Americans with minimum to no oversight. In 2006, the
American Civil Liberties Union(ACLU) was victories in the first of many rounds of
litigation in the ACLU v. NSA case. The U.S. District Court ruled that the NSA

Personal Narrative-Palestinian Occupied Territory
Palestinian Occupied Territory
After living under Israeli occupation their whole lives, and with no prospect of
political resolution on the horizon, Palestinian youth have taken to the streets this
month in protest. As I sit and watch the polarizing coverage now considered to be
at near catastrophic levels from afar, disparate emotions dart around inside me like
pinballs, striking chords and hitting nerves. There s the sadness, of course the
sadness that I always feel when I think about Palestine that is now pulled to the
surface and sharper than usual. Sadness that so many of today s young people are
lost to a struggle that is decades old. Sadness that it feels like it may continue for
decades more.
Next come the waves of frustration. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead our elected representatives are quick to condemn Palestinian violence, to ask
how we would react if we were threatened by rockets coming over the border from
Mexico ? So, I ll ask some similar questions: How would you feel if you were born
and raised in Chicago and then barred from ever visiting again? What if you were in
labor and the military blocked your way to the hospital so you had to give birth on
the side of the road? What if your brother was shot and killed by a soldier, and the
case was never brought to trial?
I find hope in the eyes of my lifelong Jewish American friends as they nod in
understanding (or ask us to write essays like this). I feel hopeful when people ask
me what it means to be Palestinian. I feel hopeful when I m given the opportunity to
explain that Palestinians live with a deep anguish spawned by a lifetime spent under
occupation. I want people in my American home to look at people in my Palestinian
home and know that all they want are the same basic things Americans demand for
themselves like equal protection under the law. Like the ability to not only survive,
but to really

This uncludes durable goods, consumer products, and services. This is an important
factor because it is an included measure of GDP, and the figure acts an indicator for
economic trends. How much consumers spend also has an affect on inflationary
pressures. Goods or products make up nearly one fourth of the US economy.
4. Durable Goods are the hard goods that yield utility over time, rather than being
completely consumed all at once. Some examples of durables goods are automobiles,
jewelry, and furniture. Although this is the smallest category (only 7%), it still has
an impact on GDP.
5. Nondurable Goods are soft goods or consumables, which are goods that need
replaced immediately or are used all at one time. Examples of nondurable goods
are food and clothing. These goods also make up a small portion (16%), however,
still important to GDP. 6. Services are explained as the non material equivalent of a
good. Service provision has been defined as an economic activity that does not
result in ownership. No transfer of possession takes place when services are sold.
Examples of such are financial services or healthcare. Nearly half (47%) of US GDP
is made up services, not products. This makes this portion very important.
7. Gross private domestic investment (I) are the expenditures on capital goods that
are used for productive activities in the domestic economy that are undertaken by the
business sector during a given period of time. Gross
Becoming A Corrections Officer
When I first received a job offer from The Arizona Department of Corrections I was
excited. The prospect of having a decent job with benefits was very new to me. I
had been a waitress my entire adult life scraping by on tips and below minimum
wage pay, but here was an opportunity to have a better life for me and my family. If
I had known what an impact this career path would have on me maybe I wouldn t
have accepted the job. I can honestly say that being a Corrections Officer has
molded my view of people, the ones I know and even ones I do not know. I see
someone in a store with tattoos that are gang related or murder related such as tear
drops below the eyes, or spider webs on the elbows. My first thought is when they

Tommy Douglass Ideology
Tommy Douglas was a man of the people. His struggles during his working class
life formed his liberal ideology, so that no one else would have to. He was a man
of the people, he lived without healthcare which nearly cost him his leg , he
witnessed protesters being shot, the list of horrible things he s seen and
experienced is rather expansive. However, Douglas was a man who wanted change,
for the benefit of regular people such as himself. His life experience being the
normal man of the times, and witnessing what happened to those who took action,
allowed him to see the shortcomings of the laws that were meant to serve the
individuals of the country. The ideals he had formed were based on what would

Despite the smear campaign ran against him, he did what is expected of a
preacher, he turned the other cheek, merely mocking the claims. He won the seat
of premiere, and as this was during the interwar period, he got to go and see Adolf
Hitler in Germany. At this time Hitler was praised by many people throughout the
world, even Canada s prime minister at the time, William Mackenzie King. Douglas
had seen the struggles of the working class, he was a part of it. His upbringing had
shaped his ideals towards a liberal ideology because that is what he new could
solve the problems he d experienced, similar problems that the people of Germany
were facing. Upon seeing Hitler in person, Douglas saw him, not as a brilliant
solver of all of Germany s problems, but as a madman. Living through the
depression, seeing Hitler, and then attempting to improve the lives of all people
throughout the World War Two period would come to impact him, the lessons
learned in Germany would give a great insight into what should never be able to

The Main Aspects Of Intrinsic Motivation For An Athlete
Motivation is crucial for an athlete in order to want to win. It is hard to want to win
if you have no motivation. The main aspect of motivation in terms of the self
determination theory is intrinsic motivation. The self determination theory can be
defined as a highly appropriate conceptual framework from which to study sport
persistence and dropout (Calvo, CervellГі, JimГ©nez, Iglesias, Moreno Murcia,
2010). Intrinsic Motivationcan be defined as an athlete taking up playing a sport just
for the enjoyment of playing a sport (Pelletier, Tuson, Fortier, Vallerand, BriГ©re,
1995). It is important to realize that the self determination theory affects an athlete s
motivation intrinsically (internally) because the self determination theory uses
factors like autonomy and competence to motivate an athlete to play better in their
sport. Most athletes, now and in the past, find it easier to motivate themselves
intrinsically if they enjoy the sport or have fun while playing the sport (Ryan Deci,
1985).
Definitions
Intrinsic Motivation has been experimented on for years and in order to prove its
validity. Regarding athletics, intrinsic motivation is defined as an athlete taking up
playing a sport just for the enjoyment of playing a sport (Pelletier et al., 1995). In an
article published by Ryan Deci, the two argue that through their research, it was
proven that having intrinsic motivation will help engage an athlete because of the
feeling of competence that arises
Comparing Salvation And The Grunt s Prayer
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and
renounces them finds mercy. (Proverbs 28:13) While some differences between
Salvation and The Grunt s Prayer are evident, the similarities are pronounced. Both
short stories include a man and boy that were both looking for forgiveness. The
boy in Salvation was crying out for forgiveness for lying to the people he loved and
believed in. Where the man in The Grunt s Prayer was asking Jesusto forgive him for
he was unable to turn against his men and had to follow them in war to kill others.
As a young child, we are told many stories from people we love and believe in. The
young boy in Salvation was told from his Auntie that he would see the light, see and
Inside The World Of Human Trafficking Essay
Inside The World of Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is a form of modern day slavery in which traffickers use force,
fraud, or coercion to control victims for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex
acts or labor services against his/her will. ( Human Trafficking. ) Differing
definitions of sex trafficking in state laws make it difficult to know if the studies on
sex trafficking are including consensual, adult sex workers, who are not victims of
trafficking under federal or international law in their numbers. Vulnerable Native
American women and youth are targeted by traffickers more than any other ethnic
group. The data collected for the Shattered Hearts report from 95 Native women and
girls suggest that the trafficking of Native girls into prostitution is a significant,
though rarely discussed as a problem. Still, the studies do suggest that sex trafficking
of Native women and girls, specifically, is present in the United States. ( Shattered
Hearts. )
According to the author of an article entitled Shattered Hearts, violence and human
trafficking against Native American women is deeply rooted from the colonial history
of oppression. The U.S. Government s extermination policies, religious persecution,
resulted in the establishment of Native American reservations and the movement of
Native children to boarding schools. These actions created an ongoing wave of new
traumas in the lives of both native children and their families. Native Americans

Motivational Theories And Concepts From The Lesson
Q: 1. Select three motivational theories or concepts from the lesson. Write a
recommendation which includes a brief explanation of each theory or concept and
why you selected it. Include key terms and concepts from the textbook.
What are motivation theories, and what roles due they play in the workplace; while
continuing to motivate staff employees? Well, motivationdetermines how a person
will exert his or her effort, it represents the forces operating on the person to exert
effort, as well as the direction in which the effort will be exerted (DeNisi Griffin,
2014, pp. 286). Motivation is a key element needed in the workplace to continue to
keep it running smooth and efficient. This is why a variety of theories have been
developed, and applied in helping to find alternatives in making things excitable;
and enjoyable. Some of those theories are as follows: reinforcement theory,
expectancy theory; and equity theory. With these theories in place, it doesn t mean it
will be a picture perfect solution to get your staff more productive; or inspired to
perform without effetely. This is also something the Human Resource Management
can get involved in, while finding ways to get their staff engaged in activities; to
boost their morale. However, no one model of motivation is guaranteed to work in all
situations for all people, instead it may take several different models of motivation, to
provide us with insights into how to motivate them; with this we can formulate a

there was a long war that caused so many deaths. During the war, innocent people

Every year, an event called Banned Book Week calls to attention the list of books
removed, or banned from school libraries and classrooms. An organization known as
the American Library Association, or the ALA, holds this event to celebrate the
constitutional right to access reading material (Censorship). These books, many
times, are called to attention for their sexual content, explicit language use, or
controversial topics discussed. Books should never be restricted for children by
anyone but their own parents, and no school board, PTA board, or community should
be able to stop a child from learning and pursuing knowledge. Banning books, instead
of protecting a child from harmful content, would marginalize their way of thought

game and the sport as a whole. I have a strong desire to learn more about one of the
most vital parts of the game and how some of the most elite player s acquire and
maintain this admirable skill. The tennis serve is one of the most crucial aspects of a
tennisplayer s game. The servebegins every individual game and has the ability to
close out an entire match given an impressive attack. Prior to the volley, the serve
kicks off each game where the ball is to be placed into the opponent s service area
for their chance to return the serve. The object is to apply appropriate techniques,
devious spin, and an exceptional velocity to make returning the serve as intricate...

It requires deceleration eccentric loads in both the lower and upper body muscles
and occurs in the transverse plan of motion. The serve is not finished when the server
makes contact with the ball. In order to get the full effect, highest velocity, and most
accurate placement, the follow through is not only necessary but critical.
Glenohumeral internal rotation and forearm pronation are two movements
performed in this phase. In a right handed server, the left shoulder angles down in
the deceleration phase, while the right shoulder comes up over the top, resulting in
inward and downward rotation. The serving arm is fully extended and continues
until it s stretched across the torso of the body. The serve is finished when force is
discontinued, lower body landing generates eccentric forces, and the center of mass is
shifted
Similarities Between Books And Books
Internet and books are two very comparable terms as both provide valuable
information, but vastly differ when we compare the time taken to provide the
information by the two. Before the internet was available to us books were the only
source we turned to for any bit of information, we used to flock to the library and
searched for the bookthat contained relevant information. It is now thing of past to
go to library as the whole library is now at our finger tips in the form of internet. One
marvels at the amount of information and speed with which one can get information
regarding anything. Both internet and books are two very different sources but
earlier generation still prefer to read books and like to collect them as souvenir.

Pregame Ritual
Saturday was my favorite day of the week during Winter Guard season. We did not
have to clean the cafeteria after practice, rerun the performance until our heads
hurt or stay after school. The best part is our pregame ritual we do before every
performance. This is our last competition and our last time participating in the
pregame ritual with Stephaine, our coach, and our only senior, Adrea. Stephanie
is going to another school to coach and Adrea is graduating. So naturally with our
group being all girls we are all a little teary eyed during our rituals because we all
know that it is the last time we will ever perform this routine with this group of
girls. Before we go out and perform, Stephanie gathers us together and says Girls,
you ve all worked so hard to get here and I know you are going to do great no
matter what! Be confident, look at the judges and count on each other. Then we all
smile at each other and laugh nervously. Rebekah, the team captain then chimes in
with, Come on girls! We know our routine and we are going to sweep the judges off
their feet! . Then we begin the rituals. First we do our three hand exercises to relax our

INTRODUCTION:
The cell is the basic unit of living things, and is made up of multiple organelles.
Organelles are membrane bound subdivisions, each specialised for a specific
function. This experiment looks at the Plasma Membrane, which is a semipermeable
layer surrounding the cell. It s primary job is to control what goes in and out of the
cell. Molecules can move across this membrane in either an active movement or a
passive movement. Active being that which requires energy and only occurs when
molecules are required to move against the concentration gradient. The concentration

The solutions of 2% and 10% both reached dynamic equilibrium as neither had lost
nor gained water during the experiment, This indicates that the results may have been
inconclusive because two, widely various solutions could not have both reached
dynamic equilibrium with the potato cell. This leads to the idea that there were a few
errors made while performing this experiment, which most likely had an effect on
the results, causing them to be non reliable. Firstly, the test tubes had not been
properly cleaned before the experiment took place. This caused a strange smell and
a colouration of the potato tuber, it may also have increased or decreased the
osmotic potential, though this cannot be known as it is not known what chemical
residue may have been left in the test tubes. Secondly, the potato cells had been left
in for three days instead of the recommended 24hrs. This mistake may have caused
the soft, sogginess of the potato which rendered it difficult to pat dry and handle.
During this part of the experiment, pieces of the cells were broken and lost down
drains or stuck to the paper towel, as well as many still containing much excess water.
Because of this, the weights measured could be inaccurate and therefor unreliable.

The Effects Of Media Violence On Behavioral Violence
The Effects of Media Violence on Behavioral Violence in Young Adults in America
The influence of mass media has progressively increased in American society, but can
the media have effects beyond mere entertainment and impartial information?
American culture has become saturated with online news reports, social media, and
media entertainment. Technology has become a major factor in America s social
environment. Much of the information gained from digital sources involves or
portrays violence, and many social scientists have concluded that exposure to these
portrayals may influence some individuals to behave violently. There is evidence
that consistent exposure to violence can lead audience members to accept violence
as normative, and adopt the behavior into their own lives (Surette, 2013, p. 393).
However, researchers have also shown that the media is only one factor in behavior,
and that it may not be the cause of violence (Black et al., 2016, p. 197). Other
researchers support the theory that the benefit of using the media to fight violence
outweighs any negative effect from it (Flexon, 2009, p. 608). Understanding violence
is a complex, multi faceted process, and all of these viewpoints must be
acknowledged in order to understand the relationship between violent behavior in the
media and violent behavior in individuals.
Introduction to Violence Violence is usually thought of as an aggressive act, but it
involves more than just physical action. Violence is a physical

One misty morning in 2003, deep under the cover of the largest subtropical
wilderness in the United States, a group of tourists set out for a day of exploration in
the Everglades. They hoped to see some of the diverse and unique species that the
Everglades are famous for, and maybe snap a few cool pictures to show their
friends. They could never have anticipated what they would actually discover. A
short way into their trek, the party was drawn to a noisy struggle nearby. They
followed their ears to a duel between an alligator and a huge Burmese Python. The
alligator clamped his jaws around the snake. The snake wrapped its body around the

The Burmese Python is one of the most invasive of these non native species. The
snakes originate from Southeast Asia, so they thrive in Florida s similar environment.
The Everglades became sort of a paradise to the pythons, since their introduction in
the early 1990 s. A female Burmese Python will lay up to 207 eggs at once. Inside her
nest, she will coil her body around the eggs to maintain a temperature of about ninety
degrees Fahrenheit. Incubation takes around two months. The python has only just
recently been observed engaging in shivering thermo genesis for the first time outside
of captivity. This is the production of body heat through muscle contractions. The
mother snake does this to raise the temperature of her nest and eggs the warmer the
incubation, the quicker they will hatch, and slither free throughout the forest,
carrying on its destructive path. With this sort of reproduction, it s no wonder they re
so easily taking over the Everglades.

Essay about Napoleon I
Napoleon I
Napoleon s life was a very interesting one. Starting a poor boy, hated by most, rising
to rule a huge empire, and then finally being destroyed by his own arrogance and
ending his life humbled, remembering what he had doe, and leaving it all in his
memoirs for the world to read.
Napoleon was born in 1769, on the Island of Corsica. His parents, Carlo and
Letizia Bonaparte, were poor nobles. When Napoleon was just 10 years old, his
father helped to get him a mathematical scholarship to a military school at
Brienne. In the school, Napoleon was hated and considered a foreigner. With no

He then went further into Italy, pushing into the Lombardy region. He took the
stronghold at
Mantua after a long siege, and was heading toward Venice with little resistance when
the Austrians surrendered, and Napoleon negotiated the treaty of Campo
Formio, which ended what is now called the war of the first coalition. While in
Italy, Napoleon took large amounts of money and art to bring to France. When
Napoleon returned from Italy, it was suggested that he invade England. Instead, he
decided to invade British owned Egypt. After sneaking by the British navy,
Napoleon landed in Egypt, and quickly carried out the occupation. While
Napoleon as inland, the British destroyed the French fleet, leaving Napoleon stuck in
Egypt.
In early 1799, the Ottoman empire declared war on France. To stop the
Ottoman s from invading Egypt, Napoleon invaded Syria, but was turned back by
Turkish troops. By mid 1799, the second coalition (formed by the
Ottoman s and Austrians) were defeating French forces in Europe, so Napoleon
decided to return to France. When Napoleon arrived in Paris, he began a conspiracy
to overthrow the government. He succeeded, and created a new government called
the consulate, of which Napoleon became the first consul. As consul, Napoleon
made many good changes in France. He created the Napoleonic code, which set up a
complex code of civil law in the nation. He worked with the Pope to reestablish the

Nora and Torvald in The Doll s House
People cannot survive on their own in this world, so they form relationships.
Relationships play an important role in a person s life; it influences and defines one
s character and ideals. It can make someone the happiest person in the world or the
most miserable. In order to establish a stable and long lasting relationship, there must
be proper communication at the base of this bond. The rules of proper
communication include: listening to each other, understanding the other person s
emotions and needs, truthfully expressing one s view s, and supporting each other
during times of adversity. In Henrick Ibsen s play, A Doll s House, he uses the
character development of Nora Helmer, the protagonist, and Torvald Helmer, the...

This tone gives the statement a endearing and protective connotation. However, it
illustrates how Torvald manipulates Nora to control her actions, revealing his
dominating character and Nora s insecure and submissive characters are revealed.
As Nora continues to be obedient, Torvald takes advantage of her; furthermore,
Torvald does not want to discuss official issues with her, and teases her about her
silly and insignificant character. The negative denotation of Torvald s diction
emphasizes the abuse in the relationship. The lack of communication allows
Torvald to continue abusing her. Abuse forces a person to stay in a relationship. It
makes the victim feel unimportant and unloved. Open communication can bring
equality and love to the relationship. In act two, Nora is slowly beginning to
understand Trovald s true persona. Nora, maybe for the first time in her life, asks
Torvald for a favor, to not fire an employee. He replies to her by asking Do you
suppose I am going to make myself ridiculous before my whole staff, to let people
think that I am a man to be swayed by all sorts of outside influence (Act II). This
rhetorical question reveals Torvald s main concern of appearance. His greater
concern for the image rather than Nora displays the lack of love in the relationship.
It contradicts Nora s courageous act of borrowing money for Torvald, despite the
government, for the sake of her love. This argument leads Nora to

An Essay On Houston Texas
HousВ·toВ·niВ·an, a native resident of Houston, Texas. This term is popular in
more states than Texas. There s a saying that Everything is bigger and better in
Texas. Houston is the fourth largest city in America behind Nevada and ahead of
New Mexico. Now that is big. People that are born in Texas are natives, and therefore
Houstonian. There are several races that call Houstonhome like Hispanics, Asians,
Blacks and Europeans. There is also a refugee population in Houston from places like
Afghanistan, Iraq, and Somalia. However, any person that lives in the culture and
experiences the culture to the extent that they consider themselves native can also be
called a Houstonian. Houstonian is not a term. Houstonian is a way of life, a culture,
and an identity. Technically a Houstonian is anyone native to the city of Houston,
Texas. As vague as that may be, this surprisingly includes all kinds of nationalities
and races. Houston is melting pot city and many families are started here. As long
as you have lived in the city for a minimum time, or have been born in Houston that
makes you a Houstonian. Usually natives are born into a family of natives as well
but other times it is a generation that starts the path going forward. There is no
particular face of a Houstonian, or style of dress for that matter. A Houstonian is
recognized by their comfort in the city. Houstonians a proud of their city and often

Shades Of Symbols In The Great Gatsby
The 1920s was a pivotal part of American history. This decade was the decade
between the world wars and is often referred to by many as the Roaring Twenties as
it was a time for great celebration and advancement as modern mass production and
consumption was introduced and many Americans began to increase their material
wealth. While this decade brought on the lux and lavish of life, it also brought with
it many different types of people as well as objects. While reading The Great Gatsby,
a novel by F.Scott Fitzgerald, these objects are referred to as symbols and in
reading the novel, are able to provide many shades of meaning to the reader
depending on how the reader views and interprets the symbols. The ash heaps and
valley of ashes, the billboard sign of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg, and the green dock light
are some of the many symbols in the novel that can provide different shades of
meaning to the reader through the course of the novel.
Throughout the novel, the ash heaps and valley of ashes are one of the most
referenced symbols found within the Great Gatsby. These symbols in turn are also
able to provide different shades of meaning to the reader depending on how the
reader interprets the ash heaps and valley of ashes. One shade of meaning that can
be offered to the readers is that the ash heaps represent success of the factories
during the time of the 1920s. During this period of time, modern mass production as
well as consumption began to grow as economic prosperity

For decades, Macaroni and cheese have remained on the list of America s top ten

dry ingredients like elbow macaroni and mix them with wet ingredients like heavy

Before you start preparing any food, make sure to wash your hands. Not washing
your hands will result in the spread of germs and cause you to get sick. If this

Examples Of Exigence Circumstances

This provision outlaws the search and seizures without probable cause or without a

Exigent circumstances based on Turrubiate v. State (2013) are situations of
emergent nature that necessitate law enforcement to proceed and enter an area
with the intentions of conducting a warrantless search as a result of limited time
to secure a properly issued warrant. An example of this circumstances is when law
enforcement personnel respond to a call reporting a domestic violence in progress,
and upon arriving at the scene and obtaining witness statements, the officers are
convinced that a person in need is still in the house. The officers can enter into the
house search and seize weapons they encounter. These weapons can be used to back
the witness claims in order to charge the attacker. Another example is when the law
enforcement are in a pursuit of a drug trafficker who enters into a house with a
package of drugs. The law enforcement personnel knowing that drug traffickers can
commonly open a package and subdivide it in less than 10 minutes, the will enter
and search the house to apprehend the suspect, seize the drugs and any other
evidence, because going to look for a warrant to search the

Hunger Of Memory Analysis
In The Class the character Wei is portrayed as an immigrant who rarely participates
or gets involved with his classmates due to the language barrier. In the
autobiography Hunger of Memory by Richard Rodriguez, Rodriguez himself had
difficulties participating in class, and interacting with his fellow classmates due to
the language barrier. In both The Class and Hunger of Memory Wei and Rodriguez
share the common bond of feelinglike an alien in the classroom due to knowing more
of their private language that they speak regularly speak at home to speaking a
language foreign to them, that they have to practice everyday on their own to get
familiar with the language and perfect their pronunciations.
I want people to discuss how being a child of an immigrant you have higher
expectations to achieve, such as having a good education, go to college, get good
grades, and be expected to learn a new language. I want the question to reflect back
on the terms private language and public language from Hunger of Memory and
how those terms contribute to Wei s character in the film The Class. I want people
to go deeper and discuss the emotions and process both Wei and Richard Rodriguez
go through. How in the beginning both wouldn t interact in the class due to only
knowing one language properly. How they both went from shy to being a participant
in class. Both Wei and Rodriguez have respect towards their parents and do what
their parents ask them too, especially when it comes to
Friction And Toy Cars
Friction is a force that two surfaces exert on each other when they rub together. This
experiment tested the effect of wood, sandpaper, and carpet s frictional force on the
distance traveled by toy pull back cars. The hypothesis was that the toy cars would
travel the furthest on the wood, because its smooth surface would create less friction,
causing less of the car s energy to be absorbed by frictional force, and more of the car
s energy to go towards speed and distance. The results proved that the hypothesis was
correct, the car traveled the furthest distance on the wood, next furthest and the least
distance on the carpet, because of the large amount of frictional force it generated.
The data showed that the cars traveled an average of 3.53... Show more content on

What this means is that an object will continue in its current direction and with the
same net force indefinitely, or until an outside force is applied to the object. In the
case of the pull back cars, this means that, without the force of friction, the cars would
continue on in the same direction forever, but because of friction, the cars have to
stop their motion eventually, and that distance can be used as a measurement of the
friction inflicted upon the car. Furthermore, Newton s second law of motion the
relationship between an object s mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is
F = ma. All this means is that, the higher an object s mass and acceleration, the
larger the object s net force is. This relates to the physics of the experiment
because, for the force of friction to completely stop the car, its force must be equal
to the toy car s acceleration times it s weight. There are several variables that could
have affected the experiment s outcome. For one, the toy cars were fairly unreliable
and one toy car could have provided different amounts of power during the different
tests, which would have negatively affected the results

Michelle Obama s 2016 Democratic National Convention Speech was beautifully
presented; as she spoke about the issues that faces Mrs. Clinton as well as herself,
education, health and welfare of this nation as a whole and why Hillary Clinton
should be the next president of the United States of America. As I listen to this
speech I realized that Michelle Obama uses rhetorical devices and appeals
throughout this entire speech, and frankly since her purpose is to persuade the
people of the this country to vote for Hillary I think Michelle Obama took the right
approach. I get a strong sense of honesty from the first lady as she talks about why
Ms. Clinton is worthy enough to take on the mantle of leadership for our great
nation. After listening to my speech multiple times I notice how Michelle Obama
also uses amplification, which is the expansion of detail to clarify a point. Then as
I continued to listen to the speech I also realized how the first lady also uses
anaphora, which is the repetition of one or more words at the head of consecutive
phrases, clauses, or sentences. Next I saw how the first lady utilizes both ethos and
pathos to help convince the citizens of America that Hillary Clinton deserves their
vote. Through the use of these rhetorical devices and appeals, Mrs. Obama s speech
is made very strong and convincing. From the very first time I heard this speech, I
quickly noticed that Michelle approach is using pathos as she tries to appeal to the

It s a daunting task, trying to change the world; almost deemed as impossible.

Similarities Between North And South Korea
Economic Essay 1 Although the people of North and South Korea speak the same
language, they have many different ideas and cultures that have developed after the
two countries split apart. The market economy of South Korea has done a lot to
improve the overall economy of the country, and the gross national product has been
on the rise. The economyof North Koreahas had many challenges, largely due to the
self reliant and closed economic systemthat they use. Overall, the government and
economy of South Korea has been more prosperous and successful than North Korea.
Much of this is due to the fact that in North Korea, they have a completely closed and
centrally planned economic system which tends to inhibit their growth. The fact...

Interview With Dr. Beyette
When the interview assignment was presented in class, it didn t take long for me
to decide which professor to interview. The professor I chose to interview was Dr.
Jill Beyette. Dr. Beyette is my current Biology II professor. So far, I have really
enjoyed her class and would even consider it one of my favorite classes this fall
semester. Dr. Beyette makes the class as simple as possible and makes herself very
approachable to her students. This is another reason I decided to interview her.
Through completing the interview, I learned more about Dr. Beyette in her academic
endeavours and her personal life as well. I started the interview with some basic
background questions. Some of these questions were asking if she was from
Cincinnatiand where she went to college. Dr. Beyette informed me that she is not
actually from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beyette is currently teaching Biology 1082, 1081, and 2085C at UC. Dr. Beyette
also coordinates and instructs the general biology labs. When asked which was her
favorite course she had a hard time choosing because they both have their perks. She
said, The labs are fun and it s interesting to see what the students like and dislike
about the experiments. However, the lecture content is enjoyable because you re
always learning something new. I then proceeded to ask Dr. Beyette what the best
advice that she could give a student enrolled in her classes and other classes within
the University. Her answer was the best advice that I have received since starting
college. Dr Beyette said, Science and technology is fascinating, but the first two
years are hard because it s like learning the alphabet. It isn t fun in the beginning
because you don t know the material or the building blocks yet, but as you continue it
gets more interesting. She said that she always encourages students to stick with it if
they are passionate about the subject. I think that this advice is so important for any
student just starting in the field of science and
Examples Of Joey In Tangerine
Throughout the book Tangerine Paul has had many different opinions of Joey. As an
example, he goes from thinking him and Joey are friends, to thinking Joey is
irritating and cocky.
In the journal entry, September 8 later, Paul s perspective of Joey is that they re
friends. For example, Joey invites Paul to make plans with him after Mike Costello s
death to help with his grieving. On page 69 it states, Look, do you want to go to the
carnival with us tomorrow? Though their conversation, this shows that Joey must
really like Paul and they must actually be friends because Joey wouldn t just pick
anyone, he s going to pick someone who he knows is going to be there for him.
Because of this, Paul probably feels that he has a good connection
Literary Analysis Of Northanger Abbey
Jane Austen s book, Northanger Abbey tells the tale of a young heroine, Catherine
Morland coming into her adulthood in the city of Bath and later at Northanger
Abbey. She learns of social standards, friendship, love, and dishonesty all of which
are written in the books she loves so dearly. The last paragraph of the work finishes
the satire with extreme cliched points that represent the gothic novel to a tee.
Throughout the novel, Jane Austenuses satire to make fun of the classical gothic
novel with the cliched points such as love at first sight, a man coming to save the
day, and of course a mysterious abbey that holds all the spooks and scares an 18
year old girl could wish for. But alas, the Northanger Abbey is nothing of the sort,
rather it is a modernized structure with only pieces of the mysterious that it had
been before. Catherine, starved of mystery, even tries to create a horror story of
General Tinely murdering his wife, or later keeping her captive in the dungeon, all
of which are disproven by our hero, Henry Tinely. The humor in the novel is shown
through the actions and dialogue of our beloved characters. Catherine is rather
ignorant when it comes to social cues such as Isabella s constant flirting and desire
of attention, not just from the opposite sex but rather Catherine as well. Our
heroine was blinded by happiness and sisterhood to see what the reader saw all
along, Isabella was lying, gold digger with a pretty smile and goddess complex. A
part of the humor in Catherine s ignorance lies in the double meaning comments
Isabella makes that go over her poor head and when she finally realizes Isabella s
true motives towards the end of the novel: Money.
There is a reference to the deadly sins throughout the novel. While there are certain
sins such as greed and pride that can summarize the majority of novel, there is at
least one character that reprensts each sin. Mrs. Allen has an obsession where
clothing allowing her to represent gluttony. When directed towards his children,
General Tinely shows anger. Henry, our beloved hero is not one to be humble and
tends to know a little bit about everything while taking pride in believing he is better
than others. Greed could be given to any of the
Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet And Zeffirelli
Both the Zeffirelli and Luhrmann directed versions of William Shakespeare s classic
tragedy Romeo and Juliet are similar in multiple ways such as characters, words, and
plot line. In each movie, there is a feud between the characters of two families. In
Zeffirelli s version, it is the Montagues against the Capulets, which is the same as
Luhrmann s reenactment. At the beginning of the Luhrmann film, the prologue is
stated unedited from Shakespeare s words. The Zeffirelli version has the prologue at
the beginning, equally unedited. In each film, the first scene is a fight between
multiple side characters of the Montague and Capulet family. In summary, there are
multiple similarities between the 1968 Zeffirelli and 1997 Luhrmann version of

Recitatif Analysis
Although James Joyce s The Dead and Toni Morrison s Recitatif were written in
two completely different eras, and each narrative sets out to accomplish its own
doing, we can draw clear parallel s, as well as contrasts that undoubtedly
accompany those. We are able to find similarities in underlying themes employed
by both James Joyce, as well as Tony Morrison. One of the most evident parallels
we are able to draw between the two texts lies in the recognition of reflection and
sentiment, paired with the growing disparity as the characters reflect back upon
their past. Reflection is a crucial part in accepting who we are and how we got
where we are, it is easy to be preoccupied in the trials of day to day life and neglect
to give ourselves moments of disengagement and privacy amidst our own journeys.
Speaking on the prevalent theme of reflection, evident in both texts we can clearly
see the emotional toll that derives from the characters concealed sentiments of
nostalgia. In both texts, much of the rhetoric is centered around this omnipresent
sense of regret and rumination that appears to plague the characters and does seem to
somewhat distract them from completely living in the present. The divergence
between past and present is more apparent in Toni Morrisons Recitatif , because the
story encompasses a larger span of Twyla and Roberta s lives, from the point in
which they are eight years old, being first introduced as roommates at St Bonny s,
up until after Twyla s son graduates high school. The story begins with the two
young girls being dumped at St Mary s by their respective mothers, both of which
were equally ill equipped to raise children. Roberta s motherwho was sick and Twyla
s who: liked to dance all night (pg. 132). The story then chronicles the girls leaving
the orphanage and the series of subsequent chance encounters which follow. Upon
each meeting the girls are given a chance to contemplate their past, which brings up
controversial topics for both, in particular the friction that accompanies the rhetorical
question: What the hell happened to Maggie? (pg. 147). Characterized as an
outsider, Maggie is a mute kitchen helper working in St Bonnies, however she plays
an integral part of the
What Is The Importance Of Opening Up A Business
The Bible promise is that if one is diligent to do these things, one will have: goats
milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the maintenance
for your maidens. Which means there will be money and food for your family and
servants. Your business will meet all your material needs. But this provision is
conditional, and it hinges on whether you do your part properly. Obviously, from
this it is easy to see that running a business is not a matter of opening a shop, putting
some things into it, and hoping people come and buy. It is an intelligent activity,
which involves a lot of planning. It takes foresight, wise decisions and consideration
of many factors. New businesses need to work out the general parameters of... Show

SO God tells the wicked to forsake their thoughts as well as their behaviour,
because these are both a breach of the moral code, and in the business context, all
morally corrupt plans must be abandoned in order to best ensure success. This is
also why many countries have a preserved weight or measure somewhere safe from
which all other weights and measures are ascertained. This is why the world has an
atomic clock, and a Greenwich Meantime, and the word tare on trucks, and energy
consumption stickers on washing machines, and so on. Any business that does
not charge fair price for accurate measures is courting disaster. When goods are
imported, they usually go to an importer s warehouse, from which they are sold to
retailers, and then to customers, so there is always a marking up of the price at
each step. If possible, it pays for a business to do the importing direct from the
country, but this usually involves a large outlay, however, once the goods have
arrived, the business can make an even larger fair profit. On the other hand,
exporting is part of the manufacturing side of business, and involves many
difficulties. One has to buy materials, pay staff, and find overseas customers. But it
happens. If you can produce something people want at a fair price, your business
will work, and if it were too difficult, which it isn t, hardly anyone would bother to
try. Take a tip from Solomon: put God first, obey God s Law, and expect to see
things take off. And
Self Evaluation Paper
Introduction Self evaluation is the process of evaluating yourself after completing
either a project and/or task. The purpose of the evaluation is to review the project
and/or task after it is completed to determine what was learned and if changes need
to be made. Not always when someone does something do they learn all they could
have or do it correctly the first time. It is from the self evaluation process this
determination can be made. Once the evaluation is complete the individual can move
forward and make changes if need be.

Throughout the class, discussions were required for each chapter of the book on a

different way of thinking. Some of the discussion mentioned was on education.
Through the dicsussion thread it was interesting to learn the views others have on the
educational system. It was interesting to read majority of others share the same
opinion of the school system as
Analysis Of A Harbor In Moonlight
Claude Joseph Vernet is a very largely known French artist from the early 1700 s.
He has been known to be one of the best landscape painters of all time. Vernet paints
from a different perspective than many artists and his art leaves a lasting impact on
viewers minds. Many of his paintings are famous including A Harbor in Moonlight
which is located at the St. Louis Art Museum.
A Harbor in Moonlight stood out as a very interesting piece. What initially caught
my eye was the different lighting and shades of every color in this painting. My
first reaction was a sense of calmness and relief. There are many reasons that I got
the initial first feelings that I did. The biggest reason is the arrangements of
lighting. Vernet does a good job of incorporating lighting into every part of this
piece. I feel that the lighting plays the biggest role in this artwork because without it,
it is very dull and dark. The result of a dull and dark painting would not be anywhere
near the same result as the lighting.
It almost seems like the lighting is meant to say something or symbolize something.
Just by looking at it, each light has a different role and level of importance in the
picture. The main sources of light that stood out to me were the fire, moon,
lighthouse, and even the reflection of light on the surface of the water. All of them
provide a different sense of feeling in this scene. The fire gives me a feeling of
security and safety, because people gather around a fire and come
The Magna Carta Charter
na Carta Charter The Magna Carta charter has been credited as one of England s
earliest attempts at a semi democratic community following the dissipation of the
Athenian democracy and the Roman Republic, among others. The charter was
drafted at Runnymede on 15 June 1215 in an attempt to address long overdue socio
economic and political problems that had plagued the region over a 500 year
period. Despite the long standing history associated with the charter s spirit, some of
the key reasons for its drafting include King John s exploitation and destruction of
the baron families through over taxation efforts or scutage that were designed to
fund and refund military campaigns in both France and Normandy against King
Philip II . His failures and eventual return to England in 1214 sparked a rebellion that
would eventually facilitate the charter s ratification. There can be no doubt as to the
wealth of this history and its association with a free, democratic society. This,
however, does not legitimize the notion of England being the originator of modern
democracy. In fact, the charter was more about the devolution of power within the
nobility than the citizenship. In this regard, while it provided numerous provisions
that would eventually protect the public, its main agenda was to limit the chances of
absolutism and improve the autonomy, rights, powers, and freedoms of barons. Its
longevity is another matter of concern as the charter would soon be revised in the
course of King
Dead Poets Society Conformity
Literary Essay Dead Poets Society
amp;#9;Bill Beattie once said, amp;quot; The aim of education should be to teach us
how to think rather than what to think rather to improve our minds, so as to enable
us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with thoughts of other men.
amp;quot; All too often, however, individual thoughts are crushed by the powerful
weight of conformity. In the film Dead Poets Society, conformity exercises it s
influence and the results prove disastrous for some. For others, the effect of
conformity compels them towards individual strength and the discovery of one s true
self.

Perhaps they were clapping because everyone else was clapping, or perhaps they were

amp;#9;All too often, the words of the textbook are considered undisputed fact. All
chemistry textbooks will list the elements with the same symbols and all Latin
textbooks will list approximately the same translations. The poetry textbook, written
by a Dr. Pritchett, attempts to lump words that are meant to touch the heart into the
same factual categories of math and the sciences. Can Dr. Pritchett s method of
analyzing poetry by graphing its importance and perfection be used to measure what
one feels? More importantly, is Dr. Pritchett s method the only method that one must
use when measuring the greatness of poetry and can poetry be looked at using only
the mind and not the heart?
amp;#9;Mr. Keating did not feel that poetry was meant to be analyzed using
measurable techniques but rather through the feelings of one s heart. He summed up
his feelings on Dr. Pritchett s method of measuring the greatness of poetry in one
word, amp;quot;Excrement. amp;quot;
amp;#9;He took his class on a journey of self discovery, a journey where they
learned that there is not always a right answer or a wrong one. In order to find one s
true self, one must learn to resist conformity and walk one s own way, as was
illustrated in the lesson out in the courtyard. He taught them
The Impact Of The Walkman
The first manufactured portable music player The Walkman. In July 1979, Sony
brought music from traditional speakers and household radios to a portable cassette
tape player The Walkman. At that time, music was not considered being personal or
private but rather being shared among a group of people, journalists doubted that
anyone would want to buy a tape player without a record function just because it was
handy. However, the first batch completely sold out at the end of August and the
demand of the Walkman continued to rise dramatically afterwards, copious new
models of the Walkman were released, and by the time of 1995, the total number of
productions of the Walkman had reached 150 million (Johnson, 2011). These results
demonstrate that the Walkman was a gadget that earned the love of many people and
it successfully changed the attitude of people towards portable and personal music.

The Walkman was the first device that allowed the isolation of people with their
surroundings, which is a commonplace these days (Costello, 2009). Many
subsequent ideas after the success of the Walkman was based on the two main
features of the Walkman, portability and privacy. Nowadays, people focus most of
their time on these gadgets and somehow become tied to them, these gadgets formed
a balloon around its user, detaching them from the real world. Pell (2010) stated that
headphones and portability of new products reduced people s interaction with each
other and it became harder for people to know each other in depth. Even in crowded
environments, people seemed to be in their own world, it was not surprising that
there are criticisms on how the Walkman made people anti social (Wagstaff, 2010).
Therefore, the Walkman s greatest influence was not the product itself, but the culture

Eleanor Roosevelt
Hernandez 1 Hernandez 1 On October 11, 1884, a remarkable individual whom
would later be considered one of the world s most influential women was born.
Eleanor Roosevelt was born in New York to her parents Anna Hall Roosevelt and
Elliot Roosevelt. With her blue eyes and light brown hair, she would warm the
heart of every individual she came across. She grew to be five feet and eleven
inches, which to this day makes her the tallest first lady. With regards of being the
first lady she never regarded herself as a V.I.P., however she demonstrated her status

This left Eleanor in a decisive predicament. She offered to divorce him; in her heart
she knew that it would damage his and her new political career. She was also
concerned for the well being of her children. Eleanor said, It is better to light a
single candle than to curse the darkness. In my perspective, I whole heartedly
concur with this quote because she sacrificed herself rather than to sacrifice her
family. She was willing to stay in a marriage that didn t even suit her just because
she put others before herself. Putting all of their differences aside, she still stood
by his side as a normal first lady. This represents her strong quality and character as
a powerful woman. Eleanor was admired for her idealism and good spirits. Many
individuals benefited from her warm humanitarianism and deep concern for the
world. Being that she had great work ethic and wise counsel she devoted most of
her time to charity work. In 1902 in New York City, she participated in community
service projects all over the Manhattan Lower East Side. Her passion for learning and
teaching went to a settlement home with needy children. During this time she taught
dancing, literature and calisthenics. She visited needy children in the slums and
investigated working conditions in garment factories and department stores. During
World War One, Eleanor worked for the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and
American Red Cross. She helped aid wounded and dying soldiers. She defends

Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Crafting a persuasive essay on the topic of animal abuse presents a formidable challenge due to the emotional and sensitive nature of the subject. This task demands a delicate balance between conveying a powerful message and maintaining a rational, well-reasoned argument. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a compelling case against animal abuse but also in navigating the ethical complexities surrounding the topic. Firstly, researching the extent and various forms of animal abuse requires confronting distressing and sometimes horrifying information. Delving into case studies, statistics, and real-life accounts can be emotionally taxing, making it challenging for the writer to maintain objectivity while conveying the severity of the issue. Additionally, striking the right tone is crucial. A persuasive essay on animal abuse should evoke empathy and outrage without descending into sensationalism or emotional manipulation. The writer must carefully choose language and examples to ensure that the reader is informed and moved without feeling overwhelmed or manipulated. Furthermore, constructing a coherent argument requires addressing the diverse perspectives on animal rights and welfare. Recognizing the complexity of the issue is essential, as the writer must anticipate and counter potential counterarguments while presenting a compelling case for change. In terms of structure, organizing the essay to effectively build and sustain the persuasive argument adds another layer of difficulty. The introduction must grab the reader's attention, establish the importance of the issue, and clearly present the thesis. Each subsequent paragraph should provide evidence, examples, and reasoning to support the thesis, leading to a powerful conclusion that leaves a lasting impression. Despite these challenges, writing a persuasive essay on animal abuse is a worthwhile endeavor. It allows the writer to contribute to raising awareness about a critical issue while advocating for positive change. By carefully navigating the complexities of the topic and presenting a compelling argument, the writer can make a meaningful impact on the reader's perception and understanding. The aim of this essay is to discuss and compare the British Welfare system with Germany and Sweden s welfare systems. A welfare system is the structure of welfare provisions and services that provide a specific social need, but it is not only provided or organised solely by the government (Blakemore, 2001). It is a view that is rooted in individual exchanges between five organisations (State/Government, Market/Private Sector, Family/Kin networks, Local Communities and Civil Society). • 6. Nsa Wiretapping And The Nsa Recent controversy has exposed one of the most heated and long standing debates about the National Security Agency s (NSA) warrantless wiretapping. Although that beginning of the program conducted by the NSA is unknown, it is easily assumed that the NSA has been practicing such surveillance activities for a long time, or as long as national security has been threatened. Nevertheless, the program started well before the tragic events that unfolded on September 11, 2001, with the Bush administration directing the NSA to begin secretly surveilling conversations between U.S. citizens and suspected foreign terrorists. Post September 11, 2001, the United Stateslearned that the Bush administration repeatedly authorized the NSA to monitor phones calls and electronic mail (email) of people within the United States who were suspected of terrorist activities within the homeland. The monitoring activities were conducted without a warrant and in violation of the U.S. Constitution. The program became more of a topic after the September 11th attacks, and was part of a broad pattern of the executive branch using national security as an excuse for encroaching on the privacy rights of Americans with minimum to no oversight. In 2006, the American Civil Liberties Union(ACLU) was victories in the first of many rounds of litigation in the ACLU v. NSA case. Personal Narrative-Palestinian Occupied Territory Palestinian Occupied Territory After living under Israeli occupation their whole lives, and with no prospect of political resolution on the horizon, Palestinian youth have taken to the streets this month in protest. As I sit and watch the polarizing coverage now considered to be at near catastrophic levels from afar, disparate emotions dart around inside me like pinballs, striking chords and hitting nerves. There s the sadness, of course the sadness that I always feel when I think about Palestine that is now pulled to the surface and sharper than usual. What if you were in labor and the military blocked your way to the hospital so you had to give birth on the side of the road? What if your brother was shot and killed by a soldier, and the case was never brought to trial? I feel hopeful when I m given the opportunity to explain that Palestinians live with a deep anguish spawned by a lifetime spent under occupation. This is an important factor because it is an included measure of GDP, and the figure acts an indicator for economic trends. How much consumers spend also has an affect on inflationary pressures. Goods or products make up nearly one fourth of the US economy. 4. Durable Goods are the hard goods that yield utility over time, rather than being completely consumed all at once. Some examples of durables goods are automobiles, jewelry, and furniture. Although this is the smallest category (only 7%), it still has an impact on GDP. 5. Nondurable Goods are soft goods or consumables, which are goods that need replaced immediately or are used all at one time. Examples of nondurable goods are food and clothing. These goods also make up a small portion (16%), however, still important to GDP. 6. Services are explained as the non material equivalent of a good. Service provision has been defined as an economic activity that does not result in ownership. No transfer of possession takes place when services are sold. Examples of such are financial services or healthcare. Nearly half (47%) of US GDP is made up services, not products. This makes this portion very important. 7. He was a man of the people, he lived without healthcare which nearly cost him his leg , he witnessed protesters being shot, the list of horrible things he s seen and experienced is rather expansive. However, Douglas was a man who wanted change, for the benefit of regular people such as himself. His life experience being the normal man of the times, and witnessing what happened to those who took action, allowed him to see the shortcomings of the laws that were meant to serve the individuals of the country. • 12. The Main Aspects Of Intrinsic Motivation For An Athlete Motivation is crucial for an athlete in order to want to win. It is hard to want to win if you have no motivation. The main aspect of motivation in terms of the self determination theory is intrinsic motivation. The self determination theory can be defined as a highly appropriate conceptual framework from which to study sport persistence and dropout (Calvo, CervellГі, JimГ©nez, Iglesias, Moreno Murcia, 2010). Intrinsic Motivationcan be defined as an athlete taking up playing a sport just for the enjoyment of playing a sport (Pelletier, Tuson, Fortier, Vallerand, BriГ©re, 1995). It is important to realize that the self determination theory affects an athlete s motivation intrinsically (internally) because the self determination theory uses factors like autonomy and competence to motivate an athlete to play better in their sport. Most athletes, now and in the past, find it easier to motivate themselves intrinsically if they enjoy the sport or have fun while playing the sport (Ryan Deci, 1985). Definitions Intrinsic Motivation has been experimented on for years and in order to prove its validity. Regarding athletics, intrinsic motivation is defined as an athlete taking up playing a sport just for the enjoyment of playing a sport (Pelletier et al., 1995). In an article published by Ryan Deci, the two argue that through their research, it was proven that having intrinsic motivation will help engage an athlete because of the feeling of competence that arises

Where the man in The Grunt s Prayer was asking Jesusto forgive him for he was unable to turn against his men and had to follow them in war to kill others. • 14. Inside The World Of Human Trafficking Essay Inside The World of Human Trafficking Human trafficking is a form of modern day slavery in which traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to control victims for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or labor services against his/her will. ( Human Trafficking. ) Differing definitions of sex trafficking in state laws make it difficult to know if the studies on sex trafficking are including consensual, adult sex workers, who are not victims of trafficking under federal or international law in their numbers. Vulnerable Native American women and youth are targeted by traffickers more than any other ethnic group. The data collected for the Shattered Hearts report from 95 Native women and girls suggest that the trafficking of Native girls into prostitution is a significant, though rarely discussed as a problem. Still, the studies do suggest that sex trafficking of Native women and girls, specifically, is present in the United States. ( Shattered Hearts. ) According to the author of an article entitled Shattered Hearts, violence and human trafficking against Native American women is deeply rooted from the colonial history of oppression. The U.S. Government s extermination policies, religious persecution, resulted in the establishment of Native American reservations and the movement of Native children to boarding schools. These actions created an ongoing wave of new traumas in the lives of both native children and their families. Native Americans continue to carry
  • 15. Motivational Theories And Concepts From The Lesson Q: 1. Select three motivational theories or concepts from the lesson. Write a recommendation which includes a brief explanation of each theory or concept and why you selected it. Include key terms and concepts from the textbook. What are motivation theories, and what roles due they play in the workplace; while continuing to motivate staff employees? Well, motivationdetermines how a person will exert his or her effort, it represents the forces operating on the person to exert effort, as well as the direction in which the effort will be exerted (DeNisi Griffin, 2014, pp. 286). Motivation is a key element needed in the workplace to continue to keep it running smooth and efficient. This is why a variety of theories have been developed, and applied in helping to find alternatives in making things excitable; and enjoyable. Some of those theories are as follows: reinforcement theory, expectancy theory; and equity theory. The solutions of 2% and 10% both reached dynamic equilibrium as neither had lost nor gained water during the experiment, This indicates that the results may have been inconclusive because two, widely various solutions could not have both reached dynamic equilibrium with the potato cell. This leads to the idea that there were a few errors made while performing this experiment, which most likely had an effect on the results, causing them to be non reliable. Firstly, the test tubes had not been properly cleaned before the experiment took place. This caused a strange smell and a colouration of the potato tuber, it may also have increased or decreased the osmotic potential, though this cannot be known as it is not known what chemical residue may have been left in the test tubes. Secondly, the potato cells had been left in for three days instead of the recommended 24hrs. This mistake may have caused the soft, sogginess of the potato which rendered it difficult to pat dry and handle. During this part of the experiment, pieces of the cells were broken and lost down drains or stuck to the paper towel, as well as many still containing much excess water. Because of this, the weights measured could be inaccurate and therefor unreliable. Based on the data found by Clemson University Student Robert.
  • 26. The Effects Of Media Violence On Behavioral Violence The Effects of Media Violence on Behavioral Violence in Young Adults in America The influence of mass media has progressively increased in American society, but can the media have effects beyond mere entertainment and impartial information? American culture has become saturated with online news reports, social media, and media entertainment. Technology has become a major factor in America s social environment. Much of the information gained from digital sources involves or portrays violence, and many social scientists have concluded that exposure to these portrayals may influence some individuals to behave violently. There is evidence that consistent exposure to violence can lead audience members to accept violence as normative, and adopt the behavior into their own lives (Surette, 2013, p. 393). However, researchers have also shown that the media is only one factor in behavior, and that it may not be the cause of violence (Black et al., 2016, p. 197). Other researchers support the theory that the benefit of using the media to fight violence outweighs any negative effect from it (Flexon, 2009, p. 608). Understanding violence is a complex, multi faceted process, and all of these viewpoints must be acknowledged in order to understand the relationship between violent behavior in the media and violent behavior in individuals. Introduction to Violence Violence is usually thought of as an aggressive act, but it involves more than just physical action. Violence is a physical

  • 37. Hunger Of Memory Analysis In The Class the character Wei is portrayed as an immigrant who rarely participates or gets involved with his classmates due to the language barrier. In the autobiography Hunger of Memory by Richard Rodriguez, Rodriguez himself had difficulties participating in class, and interacting with his fellow classmates due to the language barrier. In both The Class and Hunger of Memory Wei and Rodriguez share the common bond of feelinglike an alien in the classroom due to knowing more of their private language that they speak regularly speak at home to speaking a language foreign to them, that they have to practice everyday on their own to get familiar with the language and perfect their pronunciations. I want people to discuss how being a child of an immigrant you have higher expectations to achieve, such as having a good education, go to college, get good grades, and be expected to learn a new language. I want the question to reflect back on the terms private language and public language from Hunger of Memory and how those terms contribute to Wei s character in the film The Class. I want people to go deeper and discuss the emotions and process both Wei and Richard Rodriguez go through. How in the beginning both wouldn t interact in the class due to only knowing one language properly. How they both went from shy to being a participant in class. Both Wei and Rodriguez have respect towards their parents and do what their parents ask them too, especially when it comes to
  • 38. Friction And Toy Cars Friction is a force that two surfaces exert on each other when they rub together. This experiment tested the effect of wood, sandpaper, and carpet s frictional force on the distance traveled by toy pull back cars. The hypothesis was that the toy cars would travel the furthest on the wood, because its smooth surface would create less friction, causing less of the car s energy to be absorbed by frictional force, and more of the car s energy to go towards speed and distance. The results proved that the hypothesis was correct, the car traveled the furthest distance on the wood, next furthest and the least distance on the carpet, because of the large amount of frictional force it generated. The data showed that the cars traveled an average of 3.53... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What this means is that an object will continue in its current direction and with the same net force indefinitely, or until an outside force is applied to the object. In the case of the pull back cars, this means that, without the force of friction, the cars would continue on in the same direction forever, but because of friction, the cars have to stop their motion eventually, and that distance can be used as a measurement of the friction inflicted upon the car. Furthermore, Newton s second law of motion the relationship between an object s mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. All this means is that, the higher an object s mass and acceleration, the larger the object s net force is. This relates to the physics of the experiment because, for the force of friction to completely stop the car, its force must be equal to the toy car s acceleration times it s weight. There are several variables that could have affected the experiment s outcome. For one, the toy cars were fairly unreliable and one toy car could have provided different amounts of power during the different tests, which would have negatively affected the results
  • 39. Rhetorical Analysis Of Michelle Obama s 2016 Democratic... Michelle Obama s 2016 Democratic National Convention Speech was beautifully presented; as she spoke about the issues that faces Mrs. Clinton as well as herself, education, health and welfare of this nation as a whole and why Hillary Clinton should be the next president of the United States of America. As I listen to this speech I realized that Michelle Obama uses rhetorical devices and appeals throughout this entire speech, and frankly since her purpose is to persuade the people of the this country to vote for Hillary I think Michelle Obama took the right approach. I get a strong sense of honesty from the first lady as she talks about why Ms. Clinton is worthy enough to take on the mantle of leadership for our great nation. After listening to my speech multiple times I notice how Michelle Obama also uses amplification, which is the expansion of detail to clarify a point. Then as I continued to listen to the speech I also realized how the first lady also uses anaphora, which is the repetition of one or more words at the head of consecutive phrases, clauses, or sentences. Next I saw how the first lady utilizes both ethos and pathos to help convince the citizens of America that Hillary Clinton deserves their vote. Through the use of these rhetorical devices and appeals, Mrs. Obama s speech is made very strong and convincing. From the very first time I heard this speech, I quickly noticed that Michelle approach is using pathos as she tries to appeal to the emotion of the
  • 40. Mcraven Trying To Change The World Analysis It s a daunting task, trying to change the world; almost deemed as impossible. More often than not, most think that making a difference involves a number of unmeasurable feats, such as climbing a mountain, or single handedly saving a small village of the coast of some island from a massive tsunami. But it doesn t have to be that complicated. Back in May of 2014, Admiral William H McRaven presented his commencement speech to the graduating class at the University of Texas. He expressed multiple ideas that all revolved around one similar standpoint how can you change the world? After graduating from U of T back in 1977, McRaven spent the next six months afterwards at Basic SEAL training in Coronado, California. He described it as a lifetime of challenges crammed into six months. • 45. Literary Analysis Of Northanger Abbey Jane Austen s book, Northanger Abbey tells the tale of a young heroine, Catherine Morland coming into her adulthood in the city of Bath and later at Northanger Abbey. She learns of social standards, friendship, love, and dishonesty all of which are written in the books she loves so dearly. The last paragraph of the work finishes the satire with extreme cliched points that represent the gothic novel to a tee. Throughout the novel, Jane Austenuses satire to make fun of the classical gothic novel with the cliched points such as love at first sight, a man coming to save the day, and of course a mysterious abbey that holds all the spooks and scares an 18 year old girl could wish for. But alas, the Northanger Abbey is nothing of the sort, rather it is a modernized structure with only pieces of the mysterious that it had been before. Catherine, starved of mystery, even tries to create a horror story of General Tinely murdering his wife, or later keeping her captive in the dungeon, all of which are disproven by our hero, Henry Tinely. The humor in the novel is shown through the actions and dialogue of our beloved characters. Catherine is rather ignorant when it comes to social cues such as Isabella s constant flirting and desire of attention, not just from the opposite sex but rather Catherine as well. Our heroine was blinded by happiness and sisterhood to see what the reader saw all along, Isabella was lying, gold digger with a pretty smile and goddess complex. A part of the humor in Catherine s ignorance lies in the double meaning comments Isabella makes that go over her poor head and when she finally realizes Isabella s true motives towards the end of the novel: Money. There is a reference to the deadly sins throughout the novel. While there are certain sins such as greed and pride that can summarize the majority of novel, there is at least one character that reprensts each sin. Mrs. Allen has an obsession where clothing allowing her to represent gluttony. When directed towards his children, General Tinely shows anger. • 47. Recitatif Analysis Although James Joyce s The Dead and Toni Morrison s Recitatif were written in two completely different eras, and each narrative sets out to accomplish its own doing, we can draw clear parallel s, as well as contrasts that undoubtedly accompany those. We are able to find similarities in underlying themes employed by both James Joyce, as well as Tony Morrison. One of the most evident parallels we are able to draw between the two texts lies in the recognition of reflection and sentiment, paired with the growing disparity as the characters reflect back upon their past. Reflection is a crucial part in accepting who we are and how we got where we are, it is easy to be preoccupied in the trials of day to day life and neglect to give ourselves moments of disengagement and privacy amidst our own journeys. Speaking on the prevalent theme of reflection, evident in both texts we can clearly see the emotional toll that derives from the characters concealed sentiments of nostalgia. In both texts, much of the rhetoric is centered around this omnipresent sense of regret and rumination that appears to plague the characters and does seem to somewhat distract them from completely living in the present. The divergence between past and present is more apparent in Toni Morrisons Recitatif , because the story encompasses a larger span of Twyla and Roberta s lives, from the point in which they are eight years old, being first introduced as roommates at St Bonny s, up until after Twyla s son graduates high school. The story begins with the two young girls being dumped at St Mary s by their respective mothers, both of which were equally ill equipped to raise children. Roberta s motherwho was sick and Twyla s who: liked to dance all night (pg. 132). The story then chronicles the girls leaving the orphanage and the series of subsequent chance encounters which follow. Upon each meeting the girls are given a chance to contemplate their past, which brings up controversial topics for both, in particular the friction that accompanies the rhetorical question: What the hell happened to Maggie? (pg. 147). Characterized as an outsider, Maggie is a mute kitchen helper working in St Bonnies, however she plays an integral part of the

What Is The Importance Of Opening Up A Business The Bible promise is that if one is diligent to do these things, one will have: goats milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the maintenance for your maidens. Which means there will be money and food for your family and servants. Your business will meet all your material needs. But this provision is conditional, and it hinges on whether you do your part properly. Obviously, from this it is easy to see that running a business is not a matter of opening a shop, putting some things into it, and hoping people come and buy. It is an intelligent activity, which involves a lot of planning. It takes foresight, wise decisions and consideration of many factors. New businesses need to work out the general parameters of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... SO God tells the wicked to forsake their thoughts as well as their behaviour, because these are both a breach of the moral code, and in the business context, all morally corrupt plans must be abandoned in order to best ensure success. This is also why many countries have a preserved weight or measure somewhere safe from which all other weights and measures are ascertained. This is why the world has an atomic clock, and a Greenwich Meantime, and the word tare on trucks, and energy consumption stickers on washing machines, and so on. Any business that does not charge fair price for accurate measures is courting disaster. When goods are imported, they usually go to an importer s warehouse, from which they are sold to retailers, and then to customers, so there is always a marking up of the price at each step. If possible, it pays for a business to do the importing direct from the country, but this usually involves a large outlay, however, once the goods have arrived, the business can make an even larger fair profit. On the other hand, exporting is part of the manufacturing side of business, and involves many difficulties. One has to buy materials, pay staff, and find overseas customers. But it happens. If you can produce something people want at a fair price, your business will work, and if it were too difficult, which it isn t, hardly anyone would bother to try. Take a tip from Solomon: put God first, obey God s Law, and expect to see things take off. And

Vernet paints from a different perspective than many artists and his art leaves a lasting impact on viewers minds. Many of his paintings are famous including A Harbor in Moonlight which is located at the St. Louis Art Museum. A Harbor in Moonlight stood out as a very interesting piece. What initially caught my eye was the different lighting and shades of every color in this painting. My first reaction was a sense of calmness and relief. There are many reasons that I got the initial first feelings that I did. The biggest reason is the arrangements of lighting. Vernet does a good job of incorporating lighting into every part of this piece. I feel that the lighting plays the biggest role in this artwork because without it, it is very dull and dark. The result of a dull and dark painting would not be anywhere near the same result as the lighting. It almost seems like the lighting is meant to say something or symbolize something. Just by looking at it, each light has a different role and level of importance in the picture. The main sources of light that stood out to me were the fire, moon, lighthouse, and even the reflection of light on the surface of the water. All of them provide a different sense of feeling in this scene. The fire gives me a feeling of security and safety, because people gather around a fire and come
  • 51. The Magna Carta Charter na Carta Charter The Magna Carta charter has been credited as one of England s earliest attempts at a semi democratic community following the dissipation of the Athenian democracy and the Roman Republic, among others. The charter was drafted at Runnymede on 15 June 1215 in an attempt to address long overdue socio economic and political problems that had plagued the region over a 500 year period. Despite the long standing history associated with the charter s spirit, some of the key reasons for its drafting include King John s exploitation and destruction of the baron families through over taxation efforts or scutage that were designed to fund and refund military campaigns in both France and Normandy against King Philip II . His failures and eventual return to England in 1214 sparked a rebellion that would eventually facilitate the charter s ratification. There can be no doubt as to the wealth of this history and its association with a free, democratic society. This, however, does not legitimize the notion of England being the originator of modern democracy. In fact, the charter was more about the devolution of power within the nobility than the citizenship. In this regard, while it provided numerous provisions that would eventually protect the public, its main agenda was to limit the chances of absolutism and improve the autonomy, rights, powers, and freedoms of barons. Its longevity is another matter of concern as the charter would soon be revised in the course of King
