Firstly, crafting a strong thesis statement requires a deep understanding of the topic and a clear
stance on the issue being discussed. This involves thorough research to gather relevant
information and evidence to support the argument.
Secondly, constructing an argumentative essay necessitates the ability to present
counterarguments effectively while reinforcing the main thesis. This requires critical thinking
skills to anticipate potential objections and address them persuasively.
Furthermore, organizing the essay in a coherent manner, with well-structured paragraphs and
smooth transitions between ideas, is crucial for clarity and readability. This involves outlining the
essay beforehand to ensure a logical flow of arguments.
Additionally, writing an engaging introduction to hook the reader and a compelling conclusion to
summarize the main points and leave a lasting impression requires creativity and rhetorical
finesse.

The African Freedom Movement
Caleb Renfroe
History of Civilization II
Ch.22 Question
Freedom is defined as the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants
without hindrance or restraint, and this idea of freedom is arguably one of the
most sought after privileges throughout the history of human existence. Wars have
been fought over it, lives have been lost, song and poems and works of literature
have been written about it. Freedom is what defines our country here in America
today and it is the desire of the entirety of the human race. Although we may desire
freedom and we may take it for granted in today s society, it hasn t always been so
easy to come by. The Indian freedom movement and the African freedom movement
both had their fair share of struggles before achieving their desired state of freedom.
Some of these struggles were common to both countries but each also experienced
difficulties unique to their own country as well.
One common thing between both India and Africa s freedom movements is their
success in becoming free nations under the rule of their own government rather than
by a foreign countries. In India, the movement began its success in 1885 with the
establishment of the Indian National Congress (INC) gained further traction under the
leadership of Mohandas Gandhi and by 1947 colonial India became independent. In
Africa, the struggle against apartheid was one of success as well. The African
freedom movement gained began in 1912 with the African National Congress (ANC)
and gained

Title:
Mustard: The Greatest Among The Herbs
Word Count:
1072
Summary:
Known and used since ancient times, and called the greatest among the herbs in the
Bible, mustard and its healing properties are discussed in this article. How to grow
it, how to use it, and recipes for using the seed and greens are included.
Keywords: mustard, plants, seeds, greens, uses in the kitchen, recipes, growing,
harvesting
Article Body:
Mustard plants have been used for thousands of years for their pungent flavour in
condiments, spicy greens for side dishes and salads, and in traditional folk medicine
and Chinese herbal medicine to treat a variety of ailments. The name mustard comes
from the Latin mustum ardens, or burning must. It was so named because as the
seeds were pounded with unfermented grape juice, or must, their pungent qualities
developed, hence burning. Mustards seeds are mentioned in ancient Sanskrit
writings dating back about 5,000 years ago and the Bible calls mustard the greatest
among the herbs. Valued for their intense flavours and healing properties, mustard
seed and the plant itself have been grown for its beautiful yellow flowers and spicy
seedling leaves. Members of the Brassicaceae family, mustard is a cruciferous
vegetable related to cabbage, Brussel sprouts, kale, kohlrabi, Chinese ... Show more

White mustard (Sinapis alba) also known as yellow mustard is a native of North
Africa, central Asia, and the Mediterranean. This is the mustard that is used
extensively in the production of American prepared mustards, as it is the least
pungent. Brown mustard (Brassica juncea) is native to Asia and is the seed used to
prepare specialty mustards such as Dijon. Canada is the world s largest exporter of
mustard seed and among the top five producers in the world. Saskatchewan produces
over 80% of the domestic total and the brown mustard seed used for Dijon mustard

Communication And Provision Of Information
5.4.5.Communication and Provision of information
As data are collected, they will be analyzed, summarized and provided to the Office
of Risk Communication and Education (ORCE) or VDH leadership as requested.
Information will be presented through immediate notification of significant findings
and then likely transition to daily (or multiple times per day) reports. VDH
leadership may establish a centralized depot for file and report sharing through the
HAN and grant access to those folders based on roles and responsibilities. Additional
intra agency communication may occur through meetings and conference calls with
LHD Directors and epidemiology staff.
Of note, during the 2009 influenza pandemic, lessons were learned about information
technology and informatics. Perhaps most notable was the fragmentation of data
sources and resources across VDH. Development of an informatics plan early in the
response to a radiological or nuclear incident is strongly recommended.
In addition, calls to the local, regional and central offices may exceed the capacity for
timely response; therefore, a public health information center might be established in
the central office to centralize communication and respond to the increases in demand
for communication with the public and healthcare providers. OEPI epidemiologists
(or those from other Offices) may be asked to serve as subject matter experts for the
information center, train information center staff, or develop materials to be used
The Use Of Dualism With The Mind Body Problem Essay
Philosopher:
John Locke is an English philosopher born in 1632 and died in 1704. He is one of
the most influential philosopher to attack the concept of dualism with the Mind Body
problem.
Topic:
John Locke is very keen on personal identity. He believes that consciousness creates
personal identity. The body isn t essential, so when a person s soulfleets to a different
body, they are still the same person because their consciousness thrives: Personal
Identity is wherever the consciousness is (John Locke s pdf). In order to understand
personal identity, he first identifies the concept of a person. A person comprises of a
consciousness with experience, the ability to think for oneself, and awareness of the
past and present, but not an actual physical presence.
Brief Summation of Weekly Topic
Dualism is the belief that the mind and body works together. The idea of dualism is
that the mind is more than just a physical brain. Consciousness dwells in a mind,
which serves as an identity and manifest as a soul. This is separate from a physical
body and brain, where when the body dies, the soul will remain and continue living.
Personal Driving Questions:
Who s to say that the body and the environment don t make up the person s identity
as well?
My answer: Nobody can rule out the fact that the physical body and the environment
a person dwells in makes up a part of their identity. While I agree that consciousness
is essential, because that s where all experiences, memories, and
Werner By Jo Ann Beard Analysis
When disaster strikes, two responses exist: lose hope, or find an inner strength to
rise above. Werner is an essay where the author, Jo Ann Beard, presents the idea of
rediscovering yourself, rebuilding a life after loss, and rising above adversity.
Werner, Beard s main character, finds that the only way to truly move on after a
tragedy is to take a leap into what is unfamiliar. After a fire burns down everything
Werner has, he is forced to grow and become a new man, leaving his old life behind.
Throughout the essay, Beard illustrates a man who faces challenges to his sense of self
, and who sequentially must change and become someone new to find who he is
again. Beard s use of the third person, candid diction, and conflict resolution
compose an elaborate work that focuses on the concept of becoming a new and better
person after a traumatic event. Though Beard is retelling Werner s story, she does not
do so through the first person. It is told through the eyes of a narrator, who knows
more about the situation than Werner himself, at the time. For example, the narrator
knows the cause of the fire and the fact that Werner will never be the same, old
Werner (Werner 21). This extra knowledge engages the reader more with the story.
On the other hand, even though the narrator knows more contextual details, they still
provide insight into what Werner is feeling, as he is coping with the reality of being
physically pushed forward into something new and unfamiliar (Werner 13).

The Haitian Revolution In Langston Hughes s Troubled
Island
Forward:
Contextualizing Troubled Island The Haitian Revolution (1791 1804) is history s
only successful slave revolt, and African enslaved persons managed a monumental
feat on a largely insignificant island in the Caribbean under French control. Naturally,
numerous persons were and are inspired by the Haitian Revolution in facets of life
from aggravating social change to creating high art. The story even remains impactful
without racial influence; considering, the dominated persons were long subjugated
and unprepared for battle, yet they defeated a world power for their freedom.
Concentrating on elevated art forms, Langston Hughes (1902 1967) wrote the libretto
Troubled Island grounded in the Haitian Revolution s aftermath and Haiti coming into
its own as a nation. By following the revolution s leader Jean Jacques Dessalines,
Troubled Island stresses Haiti s need to cope with the tribulations of banding together
and organizing an emerging nation. Moreover, the libretto highlights intraracism
among the Haitians following independence, including France s cultural influence
continuing to divide Haitians. Nevertheless, Troubled Island is not a total retelling of
actual, historical events, for persons creating a show often alter or add events to fit
the operatic stage and emphasizes significant themes. Fundamentally, William Grant
Still (1895 1978) composed the music and Langston Hughes wrote the libretto for
Troubled Island. In 1931, Hughes briefly visited Haiti,
Social Inequality Essay
According to www.investopedia.com The overall effect of economic growth on
social inequality is, like the effect of a marching column: the column advances and
the last rank eventually passes the point which was reached by the vanguard some
time before . This suggests that the richest individuals in society have stayed rich,
or even become richer, but for those who are classified as poor, the majority of
them have stayed the same. The poor continue to make up a large percentage of
the European population. This is largely due to low incomes and employment.
According to www.theindependent.co.uk UK inequality has increased by 42% since
1977 . This is a clear indicator that the gap between the richest and poorest
individuals in society is at its highest level in decades. Social consequences are the
impact of an event or action on a social environment. For example, education. Some
say that belonging to a wealthy family aids in how children do at school. While
education and working hard are seen as important for doing well and getting ahead,
knowing the right people and belonging to a wealthy family can also be critical.
www.teachfirst.org.uk suggests that The link between low income and low academic
attainment is greater in the UK than almost any other developed nation . Within any
society, those with higher incomes tend to do better on a variety of outcomes.
Therefore, there is a social gradient in health, which means that every step up the
socioeconomic ladder leads to
The Life of G.F. Handel Essay
The Life of G.F. Handel George Frideric Handel was born on February 23rd, 1685
in Halle, Germany. Handel had a passion for music from the time he was capable
of understanding it. His father Georg was a highly respected barber/surgeon
(Cavendish, vol. 4, pg. 60), which did not believe in music as a career and wanted
his son to study law. Georg thought a career in law would offer more prospects and
stability (60). Handel s father was so against having his son play music, he took all
of his son s instruments out of the house. However, Handel was so interested in
music he managed to sneak a clavichord into the loft of the house on which he
practiced secretly (60). In his early years, up until he... Show more content on

While never actually working together, J.S. Bach copied many of Antonio s works
in trying to unravel the mystery that was behind his compositions. Then there s
Francesco Geminiani, which was a student of Corelli s (Carlin 59). Unlike the
previously mentioned composers, Geminiani was a soloist choosing to play the
violin. The man responsible for teaching G.F. Handel how to play the keyboard and
compose was Friedrich Wilhelm Zachau, who was an extraordinary musician
himself. Aside from the violins there were also masters of the keyboards, such as a
gentleman named Dietrich Buxtehude. Buxtehude had a determination to make the
church a center of musical activity (Carlin 62) and founded a series of religious
oriented music. He is remembered today for his inspiration for Bach and other
younger and greater composers. Bach and Handel are considered the Classical
Giants. While their music was a strong influence to the Baroque time period, it was
also their achievements that made them the most influential. There were also
masterminds such as Hayden and Mozart who added to the culmination marking the
development to what we consider classical music. Handel composed well over two
hundred pieces in his lifetime. Ranging from oratorios, operas, cantatas, sacred and
secular vocals,
Architecture And Modern Architecture
From the Ancient Egyptian pyramids, to the Ancient Roman Colosseum, architecture
is seen in different forms all over the world. As a mechanical engineering student and
an art admirer, I am extremely interested in the rich history of architecture, as well as
modern architecture. Architecture was, is, and will continue to be a very important
aspect of people s lives until the end of time. Today, architecture is more than the
skyscrapers in Dubai. It s more than the prominent church of La Sagrada Familia in
Barcelona, Spain. It s more than just a house. Architecture is really much larger than
that. Architect Daniel Libeskinddeclares, Architecture is the biggest unwritten
document of history . Architecture has significant purpose and meaning. Architecture
is capable of healingphysically, economically, environmentally, and emotionally.
Hospitals are designed with adequate ventilation systems, creating a better
environment for the wellbeing of the patients, and decreasing the likelihood of the
patients contracting disease from other patients. One excellent example of the
physically healing effects of architecture is architect Michael Murphy s Rwandan
hospital. There was one hospital in Butaro, Rwanda in which the architecture was
causing people to fall more physically ill than they had been previously. For example,
the hallways were too small and had a poor ventilation systems, causing patients to
contract lung diseases such as tuberculosis just by going into the hospital
Unit 3 Assignment 2 System Security
Assignment 2: System Security As we evolve through time the technology evolves
with us. With our accomplishment in technology we reached beyond our
imagination, some things which our ancestors would only dream on having. But
while the technology can be used for good deeds some want to take advantage of it

them. The system security is a defence mechanism projection against illegal access

How Media Has Impacted Growing Up With A Measuring
Body Image
In this advertisement it shows a little girl measuring herself with a measuring tape.
By looking at this image, it already outlines that we as society relay on having the
perfect ideal women body, which is being thin and skinny. Society also implies that
valuing body image and perfection is significant that children at a very young age
are already influenced negatively growing up with a corrupted mindset. The little
girl in the photo is already measuring her waistline with a measuring tape at such a
young age. She is already feeling like she must be skinny to fit into society and is
conscious of her size, teaching her that she must look a certain way. The issue is that
in society the media has advertisements, commercials and magazines that portray
standards such as women being thin, tall and skinny. This according to the Western
countries is having the perfect body image. The media shows such unrealistic images
to consumers such as these young girls to try to appear like these ideals that are set
for them from society that potentially be harmful and unhealthy which could lead to
death because of starvation leading to possible long term health disorders such as
anorexia, bulimia nervosaand nervosa. My opinion on this issue is those who are
suffering with low self esteem shouldn t do such horrific acts like starvation or
dieting just to be accepted in society because they feel too fat or they do not meet
the societal standard of being perfect. Girls should relay on the ideal
Johannes Brahme Minor E Minor Symphony 9
The fourth and last symphony of Johannes Brahms is in E minor, Op. 98. The
symphony is played by four horns, two flutes, two clarinets, two oboes, two bassoons,
contrabassoon, two trumpets, triangle, strings, three trombones and timpani. It
contains four movements; first, Allegro non troppo in E minor, second, Andante
moderato in E minor E major, third, Allegro giocoso in C major and the final Allegro
energico e passionato in E minor.
The piece starts beautifully with a minor and starts to build up slowly and gradually.
The first movement was absolutely abstract. It builds up a soothing feeling inside of
you. The music is slow and peaceful. It just takes me to somewhere peaceful. It gives

American Gay Rights
Lesbians, gays, bisexual, and transgender Americans face many oppressions and do
not share the same civil rights as their fellow heterosexual citizens. In my opinion,
your sexual preferences should not dictate your civil rights. Sadly, this is not the case
in America. The Declaration of Independence proclaims that all men are created
equal with the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. However, in today s
society homosexual are not giving the same opportunity to achieve their pursuit of
happiness. Many LGBTAmericans have fought and still fighting for the rights, safety,
and freedom of this country but are still not given the same rights as heterosexual
Americans. #2 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Americans should
have the same rights as heterosexual Americans in all fields including but not limited
too are marriageequality, job security, and human rights. #3 Since 1970, there have
been numerous amount of lawsuits against cities, counties, and state for the denial of
marriage. Throughout history, LGBT citizens have been denied their right to marry
clearly due to being the same sex. According to ProCon.org, in 1970 in Minnesota

and as well as our sexuality. We all blessed to live today in America to chase our
American Dream, as the Declaration of Independence states, with the right to life,

The Triumph Of French Cuisine Over The Culinary
Industry
In today s world it is pretty much assumed that French cuisine is the king of fine
dining, and needless to say that it is a true fact. It is known today that the whole
culinary industry centre around the widely regarded French cuisine. French cuisine
is considered as the epitome of quality food. Even in culinary schools , the first thing
that is taught is about the basics of French cooking. Some of the regional cuisines are
also influenced in some or the other way by French cuisine. Many culinary terms
being derived from French Languageitself confirms the Triumph of French Cuisine

L. Garvey (2010), Cuisine is an important aspect of the French culture that has
been developing for centuries. It is internationally known and considered by some
to be the best in the world. As a result of globalization, the increasingly
interconnectedness of the world, la cuisine has been affected both positively and
negatively. On one hand, the French are witnessing rapidly increasing obesity rates
across the country as they are turning to places like McDonald s instead of the
more refined and truly French options available to them. In addition, wine
consumption rates have decreased within the country, while, at the same time,
there has been an increase in cases of binge drinking and underage drinking.
However K. Willcox (2009) believes that France is at a crossroads in the kitchen.
Wine consumption has plummeted by half since the 1960s, and winemakers in
Bordeaux, Beaujolais, and Langueduc are going bankrupt left and right. And while
practically all French cheese was made from raw milk 40 years ago, now only 10
percent is. She also believes that As French culture has seeped out of its food,
American culture has crept in. About 200,000 cafГ©s flourished in France in 1960,

In the video, researchers that conducted the study were people from the public

lines of guilty by association. This documentary stated many times the underlying
motivation of this study and very clearly showed racism as the gas pedal. African
Americans were the target participants in this study, they were discriminated against
and said to have bad blood . A women who helped in these studies and spoke in the

Modern Day Society And Creative Industries
Scriptwriters and Their Role in Modern Day Society
What would Hollywood and its producers do without scriptwriters? A person with
a camera can only do so much on their own; without a script there is no story to
build a movie up from. Essentially, an excellent script is the foundation for a
brilliant movie. Furthermore, scriptwriting has been an interest of mine since my
seventh grade year in middle school, which was when I was first exposed to drama.
I was not a huge fan of getting up on a stage; however, I greatly enjoyed the writing
aspect of the class. I connected with the idea of telling somebody a story without
having to look them directly in the eyes, and I still feel this way today. Due to this
feeling, I sense that I would make a decent scriptwriter. Carrying on, this paper
further examines the substantial role of the scriptwriter in modern day society and
creative industries. According to the National Careers Service, a career search
website based in the United Kingdom, scriptwriters are writers who create
screenplays (2015). Constructing characters, shaping dialogue, and writing an
engaging plot are all part of a scriptwriter s profession (AllAboutCareers Ltd, 2015).
As a screenwriter, one might expect to develop their own original ideas through
writing and words to sell to producers. Some producers may even commission a
scriptwriter to create a screenplay based on an idea or true story. Additionally,
scriptwriters are often asked to adapt an existing

women of were able to make some great contributions, however, they had their
limitations. This is shown during the taxations that the French put on colonials.
The taxations that were put on tea, household items, and cloth would became the
biggest burden on women, as consumers. The events arose women s political
consciousness and gave them an opportunity to voice opinions on the burdens place
on them and their neighbors. Therefore, women resisted these new polices by
boycotting British goods. Instead of using imported cloth they began creating their

took much pride in their work because they actually thought that they had finally had

In the summer people wear flower crowns and get excited for the music festivals that
come with the season. Their hair is in braids and they have henna sticker tattoos on
them. Tanned, smiling and holding hands they head towards the festival s entrance.
One could say this is the new version of the Flower Power era from the nineteen

they know little about it. 88

consumers can identify its products as American goods. Items like blue jeans, dream

A Student Board Representative For My School District
Fifteen years ago, I served as the student board representative for my school
district. All I can really remember is being entertained by emotional parent
complaints and listening to jargon filled presentations. Upon receiving my first
pink slip from that same district seven years later, I spoke at a school board
meeting for the first time. Three years later, I was motivated by another pink slip
to speak in front of a school board this time as a teacher for my current school
district, San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) Juvenile Court and
Community Schools (JCCS). Since that first pink slip scare with JCCS, I have
been a regular attendee at SDCOE board meetings. I try my best to pay attention
and even take notes when JCCS is on the agenda. I have spoken on behalf of my
students and coworkers and even helped to introduce my site s student board
representative. However, I honestly spend most of the meetings bored by detailed
presentations about programs far removed from my classroom or confused by topics
that I do not completely understand. However, I keep attending. During the past few
weeks, I attended the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) June 2 meeting
and the SDCOE June 10 meeting. After observing a board meeting in a traditional
school district for the first time in ten years, I was reminded of the strong parent and
community voice that is often shared during board meetings in local districts. On the
other hand county board meetings are
Dan Ariely Predictably Irrational
Predictably Irrational, by Dan Ariely, is a book that attempts to explain the nonsense

Computer Science
Part 1 1.What are common carriers, local exchange carriers, and interexchange
carriers? A common carrier is a private company that sells or leases communication
services and facilities to the public. Common carriers are profit oriented, and their
primary products are services for voice and data transmissions, both over
traditional wired circuits as well as cellular services. Common carriers often supply
a broad range of computer based services, such as the manufacturing and marketing
of specialized communication hardware and software. A common carrier that
provides local telephone services (e.g., BellSouth) is commonly called a local
exchange carrier (LEC), while one that provides long distance services (e.g., MCI) is

Therefore, dedicated circuits require more care in network design than switched
circuits both in terms of locations and the amount of capacity you purchase. With
packet switched services, the user again buys a connection into the common
carrier cloud. The user pays a fixed fee for the connection into the network
depending upon the type and capacity of the service and is charged for the number
of packets transmitted. 13. Distinguish among T1, T2, T3, and T4 circuits. T1
circuit is sometimes called a DS 1 circuit. It provides a data rate of 1.544 Mbps. T1
circuits can be used to transmit data, but often are used to transmit both data and
voice. In this case, a time division multiplexer (TDM) provides 24 64 Kbps circuits.
Digitized voice using pulse code modulation (PCM) requires a 64 Kbps circuit so
T1 circuit enables 24 simultaneous voice channels. T2 circuit transmits data at a
rate of 6.312 Mbps. Basically; it is a multiplexed bundle of four T1 circuits. T3
circuits allow transmission at a rate of 44.376 Mbps, although most articles refer
to this rate as 45 megabits per second. This is equal to the capacity of 28 T1
circuits. T3 circuits are becoming popular as the transmission medium for corporate
MANs and WANs because of their higher data rates. At low speed, these T3 circuits
can be used as 672 different 64 Kbps channels or voice channels. A T4 circuit

Expanding Our Horizons – Animal Welfare Concerns
After a state of the art breakthrough at a scientific laboratory, several tested animals
became capable of human intellectual capabilities and emotions. During an unseen
event, they escape the facility, no longer remaining hostage as test experiments. Ten
years pass and now the roles have reversed. These super hybrid animals are now the
top of the food chain and humans are their pawns. In a reversal of roles, zoos now
hold humans in depicted natural environments and local grocery and department
stores are farms where forced humans eat, breed, and slaughter for animal
consumption. This change of events became due to years of neglected rights and

The lack of research and public knowledge greatly hindered considerations for animal
welfare including fair and ethical treatment. In order for us as humans to understand
animals more thoroughly, more research studies are required in order to examine the
similarities of animal and human relations. We can further relate with animals if we
understand they too have emotions similar to ours and not outcast them due to their
species classification. Even as studies and research conducted prove great and
remarkable results, the public should be aware of the information generated. With
the public aware of such studies, we can finally relate to animals and take in their
considerations of how they feel in certain situations. The implications of this are vast
ranging from common household pets, livestock, to even captive animals within a
zoo. Learning these studies and making this knowledge available to the public could
provide helpful insight as what to do in treating situations such as coming across a
bear in the wild.
Research roles of animals have been very beneficial to the human race. Within case
studies of animals, such items as vaccinations, cardiovascular bypass surgery, and
treatments for cancer have become possible (Medina, 2008). It is important to
understand the welfare for animals and the research involved within the process is

Illustration and Characterization in There s a Monster Under My Bed
Children are drawn to picture books that allow them to feel some sort of elementary
emotion such as fear or happiness. Of course all children are different and the types
of books they will enjoy depends mostly on their age and their stage of cognitive
development, but common to all children is the need for both visual and auditory
stimulation. In There s A MonsterUnder My Bed, James Howe and David Rose
combine artistic and visual elements with the characterization of characters to create
a captivating yet simple story for young readers. The use of colour and clear wording
by the author make this picture book exciting for the child reader. The first picture of

The fact that the words do not interfere with the illustration allows the child to fully
enjoy the pictures giving them creative space to develop their own feelings
towards the story. The expression on the boys face is particularly important since
many of the children who enjoy this story are not actually reading it themselves.
The fact that Simon is drawn from different angles (face front, side view, etc.)
gives the child reader a more realistic view of the boy by giving us the idea that he
has different sides to him. This design lends to the overall feeling of fright by
showing him from different angles and at different distances from the reader; we
can assume he is very scared because he is gripping the covers and he does not
move very much. The monsters are drawn in different colours and none are really
frightening or disgusting. This detail gives the story the basic element of fear
from munching monsters, but at the same time the child is not very scared of
them. Rose gives the monsters a cute, cuddly texture as opposed to the generic
green, scaly stereotype, which might very well scare the child out of sleeping! The
climax comes in the middle of the book when the story words are placed below the
picture of the boy and the monsters under his bed. This page is important because the
way it is setup tells us that this is the climax; here it is important for the reader to
focus on the picture and

What Is The Theme In Psalm 23
The heart is the greatest weapon any warrior holds because when it is connected to
God it makes one undefeatable. David, who had a heart for God, would create some
of the most beautiful symbolic themes in his psalms by combining his faith and love
of the Lord with everyday settings that he was familiar with during his time. The
symbolic theme of Psalm 23identifies Davidas both a shepherd and sheep by creating
a peaceful mood through the tranquil settings.
Theme
Although this psalm is often recited at funerals or solemn occasions, the original
theme that David established in Psalm 23 is faith and assurance in the Lord. This
is determined by the very first line of this poem David allows the reader to see
himself as a servant of the Lord and not the great King of Israel, The Lord is my
shepherd, I lack nothing (Psalm 23:1 NIV). As David continues Psalm 23 , he starts
building on the assurance of putting his full trust into God. The use of the words

His metaphorical use of saying that the Lord is a shepherd, while considering
himself a sheep is very ironic because he is combining his past life experience with
the theme and settings of this psalm. David describes the detailed work a shepherd
must do to provide security and disciple his flock by saying the Lord s rod and
staff comfort me (Psalm 23:4 NIV). As a shepherd David understood the
importance of finding his lost sheep, because without the protection of their
shepherd they would have to face the world alone. David carefully reflects this into
the mood of Psalm 23 , so the reader can gain an understanding of how God will not
let His sheep stray too far. David allows the reader to gain a true sense of feeling
protected and guided because he states that God s hands will guide them

Frankenstein Movie And Book Comparison Essay
There are many differences between the 1994 Mary Shelley s Frankenstein movie,
the 1931 Frankenstein movie, and Mary Shelley s actual book. Mary Shelley wrote
Frankenstein; or the Modern Prometheus, in the early seventeenth century, and since
then, many movies have been modeled after it. All movies have addition scenes and
removed parts from the book to make it more entertaining to watch and keep the
reader engaged. Furthermore, Mary Shelley included many details that did not
contribute to the plot and therefore had no place in the movies. The 1994 version of

Strategic Planning Essay
Strategic Planning
1. Appraise the formal planning efforts at the Copley Company for the period 1981
to 1984.
INTRODUCTION
Copley Manufacturing Company was primarily a manufacturer of a wide line of
cutting tools and related parts and supplies. Late in 1980, Mr. Sagan, director of
corporate development and Mr. Albert, executive vice president agreed that regular
formal planning should become part of management s way of life at Copley.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In 1981, Copley Manufacturing Company had begun formal corporatewide planning.
The formalized planning was ingrained into life at Copley through a series of visits
by corporate groups, planning review meetings, as well as planning response
meetings.

Generally, it was felt that the planning effort at Copley in 1981 had made a good
beginning because most agreed that the plans had provided useful information to aid
the top management to obtain better understanding on Copley s business activities.
DISCUSSION OF SITUATION IN 1982
In 1982, formal planning had been significantly affected by certain organizational
changes, such as the elevation of Mr. Albert to president, the creation of two
corporate staff functions, the further delegation of operating responsibility and the
segregation of the Cutting Tool Division.
In the same year, the planning committee decided to divide the formal planning cycle
into three phases, which were the Strategy Development phase, the Quantitative phase
and the Action phase.
The division s strategic plans were presented to corporate management by each
division in a planning review meeting and subsequently evaluated in a planning
response meeting (Lee Ke 2004). Unlike 1981, these meetings followed each other
on the same day in 1982.
In 1982, the progress of the planning efforts was disrupted by certain developments;
chief among them was the change in the top management. Besides that, considerable
management effort was also required to assimilate the recently
Study on Input Controls
Running Head: INPUT CONTROLS Introduction The goal of input design is to
enhance accuracy, quality, timeliness and completeness of input data during its
conversion from its original source into computer application. Meanwhile, data could
be entered into the computer by scheduled automated processing or manually. Input
controls are the computer tools that assist in enhancing data integrity when data are
entered into the system. The input controls perform different functions to enhance
data validity and integrity. Functions of Input Controls Input controls are the
computer tools that assist in ensuring that data are accurately processed through the
application processing to ensure that data are not lost, damaged or altered. More
importantly, input controls ensure that the quality of data output is as good as data
input into the computer during the data processing. Thus, input controls enhance
integrity of data fed into the application systems. The basic function of input controls
is that they include necessary measures to ensure that input data are complete, correct
and secure. Moreover, input controls ensure that information processed by the
computer is valid, accurate, complete and accurately translated into the machine
readable form. The input controls also prevent errors input into the computer because
large number of errors identified within the computer systems is from the input
errors. Thus, input controls assist in eliminating the input errors by using common
Jane Austen s Novel And The World Of Books
Novels are a unique form of writing that brings about a new style in the world of
books. Novel by its definition is a new kind different from anything ever before.
These books range from the greats to the recently printed because novels only have
to be new for when they came out. So for instance Pride and Prejudice was novel
when it came out in 1813 just like how Mrs. Dalloway was novel when it came out in
1925. Although these novels seem to be fiction, if not realistic fiction, it is common
to wonder how the authors came up with these ideas for their books. In actuality
most authors take experiences that they had from their lives and incorporated them
into the story. Often after researching an author one can see that there are many
parallels between their novel and their actual life. Some aspects can be from other
situations outside of ones personal life, but ultimately authors create much of their
stories based off of life experiences and can be seen in Housekeeping, The Passion,
and Thomas and Beulah. Growing up in Sandpoint Idaho was the first influence that
Marilynne Robinsonhad when it comes to writing her stories. In this instance it has
influenced her in her writing of Housekeeping to have a more western and
Midwestern feel to there locations. On top of that she includes many rural factors
into her stories other than Housekeeping referencing her life growing up in rural
Idaho. One of the more notable factors in this comparison in Housekeeping is the

Tim Burton s Unique Style/Burtonesque
Just like in his previous movies, in both The Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before
Christmas, it is very clear to find Burton s own signature. People have frequently
contrasted Burton s style with the gothic. The utilization of dark, the dimness of
some of his illustrations, the overwhelming make up, the whiteness of the skins,
beasts and other spooky animals review Gothic writing and works of art yet, in
addition, German Expressionism. The topic of death is ubiquitous in Burton s
specialty regularly joined with verse and ridicule. The shocking end up noticeably
funny and beautiful. He discovers motivation in the creators he adores like Edgar

stories and the many sided quality of their universes a long way from being recently
highly contrasting. They are both entertaining and dull and near Burton s own

A world brimming with logical inconsistencies, both dull and light, startling and
inviting, merciless and delicate. A world where obscurity lives together with
splendid hues, where strange looking individuals and creatures are overcome and
liberal and where the terrible ends up plainly wonderful. Tim Burton has his own
style that remaining parts incomparable and his lavishness has turned out to be to a
great degree famous. His world is such a

behavior for him, especially seen he was such a productive officer. Sergeant Officer
Stevens decided to file disciplinary charges against officer Smiths for his disruptive
behavior, which resulted in his suspension and on his return to work he became less
productive. Due to the behavior of officer Smith his suspension was warranted, he
became a distraction within the department. As a first line supervisor it is important
that the sergeant address the behavior of officer Smith because it will become a
cancer amongst the other officers. In the workplace it is important that unity amongst
the men and women is always maintained. If a well respected officer is behaving
badly, it can have a trickle down effect on the production of other officers. Smith
became a defeatist officer he, complained about administrators, politicians, citizens,
the Supreme Court, and prosecuting attorneys (More Miller, 2014, p.... Show more

Give officer Smith the opportunity to express his concerns with the new policy,
rules or direction of the department. After the officer address his issues, the
sergeant should acknowledge his concerns and assure him that the new policy may

would see how much of a benefit it would be to the crew. Utilize this step may have
been a better approach especially since officer Smith was so respected by other
officers within the
The Psychological Complexities Of The Kite By W.
Somerset...
The demand that this question has put before me is to analyze psychological
complexities of Herbert, protagonist of the story The Kite written by W. Somerset
Maugham. In order to focus on this element, my argument will dilate upon events
and factors that shaped what Lacan had called I ness . This story revolves around a
family consisting of husband, wife and a son Herbert. Mrs. Sunbury, Herbert s
mother, had always controlled her son and when he fell in love with Betty, she
played very thriftily to take her son back. In return Betty destroyed the dearest thing
of Herbert, his kite. The title of the story is not merely based on an object that is used
for entertainment rather symbolizes Herbert. According to Lacan psychoanalysis

Uniformity Vs Conformity
Conformity in the land of the free
Uniformity. Conformity. These words have negative connotations in the minds of
many Americans. However, many believe that the United States is keeping the
standard in society of uniformity and conformity. America s society is based on the
model of uniformity and conformity because of minorities not fully being accepted
and other citizens not being accepting of other culture.
First, minorities are often pushed to the side by the majority of American because of
some believing the minorities are not as important. For instance, a bilingual speaker
Rodrigues talks about his childhood and how he believed that he did not fully fit in
until he conformed into what the rest of America wanted him to be. This can be ...

The United States of America today is keeping the standard of uniformity and
conformity because of not accepting minorities as respected people in the country.
Secondly, immigrants from many different parts of the world who have come to
America have felt that their cultures have been ridiculed and thus forces them to
conform and become uniform. For example, the excerpt of A Raisin in the Sun ,
depicts an African woman who is made fun of by a white person who doesn t fully
understand her cultural clothing. This can be clearly seen when George states, Let
s face is baby, your heritage is nothing but a bunch of raggedy assed spirituals and
some grass huts! (Source 4). George has no respect for Beneatha s culture and does
not try to understand where she is coming from. This a perfect example of how the
majority will force minorities to leave their culture behind and conform the society s
standard of uniformity. Beneatha responds to his belittling comment by saying, You
are standing there in your splendid ignorance talking about people were the first to
smelt iron on the fact of the earth! (Source 4). She reacted in this way because he is
not only insulting her culture but her as a person. George s ignorant comment and
Beneatha s retaliation shows that America s modern day society is not moving
towards diversity and individuality but rather moving backward into uniformity and
conformity.

There Are Many Different Forms Of Child Sexual Abuse.
Sexual
There are many different forms of child sexual abuse. Sexual abuse can be
perpetrated by a relative or a stranger. But the most common of sexual abuse is
committed by a beloved relative. Ratican (1992) defines childhood sexual abuse is a
sexual act performed over and over between an adult and child (1992). The effects of
childhood sexual abusecan last into adulthood and effect the way that a person thinks
or their outlook of life.
The effect of this act has a negative impact on the psychological pattern of a person.
Victims may feel in distress and show a wide range of change in psychological
symptoms, both long and short term. Some short terms problems that a child may
experience is wetting of the bed, change of performance in school ... Show more

But they fell that molestation is not a form of CSA because it is a non contact
sexual behavior. But because it frightens, shocks and sexual rewarding to the
perpetrator, it is categorized as such; even though they feel that it shouldn t effect
a child s brain in long term. It is widely accepted that a sexual relationship between
an adult and child is abuse regardless of consent. Children are not able to consent;
so therefore, adults are abusing their authority over a child. The key issue in
defining sexual abuse is that they look at the age gap between the two persons.
Where the person is old enough to give consent, but the age gap is significantly large
it is still considered child sexual abuse. Looking at research of CSA, majority of it is
focused on women, and few attempts looked into among men. But preliminary
work suggests that long term effects are different in men and women, so they
solemnly focus on women more. The difficultly with the abuse is that victims don
t feel the need to come forward. Broadly speaking there are two concerns. First,
there is the issue of whether or not some reports of sexual abuse are fantasies or
fabrications. A second issue is whether the memories or events are valid in the
length of time that it takes a child or parent to come forward. So they would like for

Gangster Disciples Research Paper
The Gangster Disciples are still an active group in the United States (Mallory, 2012).
There are members of the group in over 35 states and 70 U.S. cities (Mallory, 2012).
Nearly 20,000 members reside in the city of Chicago, where the FBI considers this
group a major organized crime group (Mallory, 2012, p. 208). The Gangster Disciples
were formed after the death of the group s original leaders, David Barksdale

Character Analysis Of Raised In Captivity By Nick Silver
Raised in Captivity a play by Nick Silver, is a very unique play about guilt,
redemption and self punishment. Directors Raul Duran and Jesse Desrosiers, did an
outstanding job in the overall development of the play. Their cast was very effective
during their performances as they played out each role in a professional and unique
way. The crew team was extremely proactive all through the scenes conveying state of
mind and life to the play. The Director made outstanding casting choices and was on
top of the crew making sure they worked together successfully and running the play
smoothly. The most important actorwas Trevor Spence who played Sebastian Bliss.
The actingwas always on point and smooth. Spence read all his lines clearly and
made sure he projected his voice loud enough to the whole audience. What stood
out the most about his act was his transitions when speaking. He would speak to
Bernadette, his twin sister, and make a smooth change and direct to the crowd, he
would finally turn back and keep speaking to her as part of the act. It was also very
interesting how he performed both sides of Sebastian s personality. When he first
introduced himself, he played the confident, easy going guy, his voice was stronger
and more powerful but when meeting with his therapist he played the depressed and
very conflicted character, and his voice was mellow and soft showing his true
emotions. This showed that he was always focused and well prepared to play his
role. Another
Legion Inappropriate For Children
Before a film is released, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) sets
strict guidelines for the rating of the film, thoroughly reviewed to make sure that it is
appropriate for the intended audience. Depending on the severity of the content, the
film is rated. Descriptions are listed about why the filmreceived a particular rating.
With these ratings in place, one can easier decide if they wish to view the film.
These ratings help parents know what their children are watching. Parents often exert
this right when approving what their children watch. Parents often do not wish for
their children to be exposed to violence, sexual themes, pervasive language, drug and
alcohol use, or terrifying images or themes. For those reasons, children are not
allowed to watch movies of the horror genre. The movie Legion is one such movie.
Due to the overwhelming depictions of violence, challenging and disturbing
psychological themes, and crass, profane language, I firmly believe that the movie
Legion is inappropriate for children and young teens.
While there is violence in the world, there is an overwhelming amount depicted in

it okay to swear or use derogatory language towards another person or situation.
Kids may try to act out the movie while playing and use the language of the script.
Younger teens may emulate the language used to appear older or more mature

Similarities Between The Great Gatsby And Tom Buchanan
Nick Carraway and Tom Buchanan had some similarities and differences . They
are both liars, they lie about many things. Gatsby lied about who he really is and
Tom lies to get out of things. They both are living a fake life, a double life. Gatsby
was pretending he came from a wealthy family when in reality his family is dirt
poor. Tom was having an affairwith another woman who does not come from the
same social class as him and had an apartment with her in New York. The
apartment was a place where they both can get away from their other life.

different social class. Tom was born rich so he did not work for his money and

Gatsby met Daisy before she even knew Tom, but because he was poor he could not
have her. He was gone for five years yet he still loved her and was still loyal to her.
He bought a house right across the bay from Daisy s house and threw so many big
parties because he was hoping it would catch her attention. Once in awhile I go off
on a spree and make a fool of myself, but I always come back, and in my heart I love
her all the time. (Fitzgerald 131) Tom admitted that he toys with a lot of women, but
at the end of the day he always comes back to Daisy. I think the reason why Tom
cheated on Daisy because he wanted to to feel needed. Daisy never really wanted to
marry Tom and was not interested in him. She did marry him because he had
money, but Daisy was also very wealthy, so she did not need him or his money to
make her happy. She will do just fine on her own if she left him. Maybe he just
wanted someone to need him and make him feel wanted so that is why he cheated
on her. Myrtle was poor trying to be in the wealthy class and being with Tom lets
her feel like she is apart of the wealthy class because whatever she wants, Tom gets
it for her. One example, is the dog. I want to get one of those dogs, she said
earnestly. I want to get one for the apartment. They are nice to have a dog. (
Fitzgerald 27 ) Myrtle wanted a dog for the apartment and Tom bought it for her
without even questioning it. She did not even know how to properly take care of
it. She just wanted the dog just so she can spend Tom s money. Although it may
not seem like Tom actually loved Daisy. When he found out that Daisy was going to
Gatsby s parties, he followed her to Gatsby s to keep an eye on her. He even had a
background check on Gatsby to see who he really was because he felt threatened by
Annotation Of Functional Variation By Personal Genomes...
Annotation of functional variation in personal genomes using RegulomeDB
INTRODUCTION
The current evolution of various techniques to sequence the genome of any species
has led to newer heights of genome sequencing. Also, the annotation of data provides
a more detailed explanation about the variations in the phenotypes. The study of these
variations can help in identifying the normal and the diseased phenotypes. Generally
the approaches have been limited to the DNA coding regions that causes disruption in
the gene function but it has also been found that majority of the variations fall outside
the coding regions and have been difficult to interpret. The ENCODE project,
however, has mapped open chromatin and the protein binding regions for a ... Show

To demonstrate the utility of the approach the results obtained from sequencing 69
genomes, determined from Complete Genomics and HapMap project were utilized.
Numerous regulatory variants were identified and reproduction of results from a
recent GWAS study was possible, which showed a single nucleotide variant being the
causative variant of lupus (Adrianto et al.2011). A testable hypothesis was also
derived when the results were compared from the database.
The aim of this experiment was to align all the variants with the regulatory
sequences available from different sources. To do this first, the functional role for
every variant was assigned and then the database was used to identify the
functional variants in the genomes (of 69 normal individuals). All the ENCODE
transcription factors like ChIP seq, FAIRE, histone ChIP seq and DNase I
hypersensitive site data were included. The table 1 below in the results shows the
list of all the transcription factors ranging from the ChIP seq from NCBI, eQTLs,
ChIP exo (Rhee and Pugh 2011) and the dsQTLs data (Degner et al. 2012). A total of
962 data sets were included and they covered almost 100 tissues and cell lines,
representing around 60 million annotations.

Nursing Workplace Hazards And The Effects On Nursing
And...
All across the world healthcare professionals and organizations are dealing with
the same issue, nursing workplace hazards and the effects it has on nurses and
healthcare. Nursing Hazards have been a significant topic of discussion for many
health professionals and organizations. Nurses are continuously reporting the issue
of injury and illness. The duties that nurses are tasked with put them at an
everyday risk of different types of hazards. The safety of employees and health
organizations depends on nursing hazards being identified and managed with
knowledge, skill, and assessment. It is the fundamental right of health
professionals to feel safe at work and to feel safe hazards must be identified and
managed. Nurses face exposure to workplace hazards such as blood pathogens and
other body fluids, chemicals in the form of solid, liquid or gas, needle sticks, latex
allergy, spills, equipment malfunction, the physical strain of the body, and
workload. These hazards are under the broad category of biological, chemical,
physical, safety, and ergonomic and work organization hazards. The following
paper is going to look at workplace hazards and the effects it has on nursing staff. It
will also look at how this issue that is plaguing not only the United States but the
world can be managed or resolved. The risk of infectious diseases for nurses is not
just in different sections of hospitals but in other workplace settings that nurses also
work, such as prisons, nursing homes,

broadening your perspective to other cultures and ideas is more entertaining to me

being cultivated along the Bible Belt, my family tree s branches filled with devout
Irish Catholics surpassed my immediate family. Both of my parents were raised
Catholic yet deemed engaging in academics, extracurricular activities, helping others,
and leading healthy lives exceedingly necessary. My parents wanted my two siblings

introverted personalities. Neither ever felt the need to fit in, in order to be happy.

Historical Context Of Psalm 62
Psalm 62, All My Trust Is In God Alone
Psalm 62 is a psalm about faith. Faith is believing in something without having
proof: complete trust. The psalmist is not only expressing his faith or complete trust
in God but is additionally asking everyone to have faith in or complete trust in God.
This complete trust in God alone has, does, and will enable one to have an
extraordinary peace within themselves regardless of what is going on around them. It
is the hope of this writer that the ensuing discussion will help its readers find a better
understanding of the psalm and therefore, help to develop their faith in God alone.
The Historical Context of Psalm 62
To better understand the historical context of psalm 62, we must first take a look at
the authorship and genre of this particular psalm. When looking to find the authorship
of a psalm today, one has only to look at the title. Thanks to many scholars throughout
history, titles and authorship have been added to many of the psalms thus, helping us
to further understand the historical significance of the psalter. However, we will
take a look as to how they have arrived at naming King David as the author of Psalm
62.
Throughout the psalter many psalms have been credited as being authored by David;

  • 2. The African Freedom Movement Caleb Renfroe History of Civilization II Ch.22 Question Freedom is defined as the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint, and this idea of freedom is arguably one of the most sought after privileges throughout the history of human existence. Wars have been fought over it, lives have been lost, song and poems and works of literature have been written about it. Freedom is what defines our country here in America today and it is the desire of the entirety of the human race. Although we may desire freedom and we may take it for granted in today s society, it hasn t always been so easy to come by. The Indian freedom movement and the African freedom movement both had their fair share of struggles before achieving their desired state of freedom. Some of these struggles were common to both countries but each also experienced difficulties unique to their own country as well. One common thing between both India and Africa s freedom movements is their success in becoming free nations under the rule of their own government rather than by a foreign countries. In India, the movement began its success in 1885 with the establishment of the Indian National Congress (INC) gained further traction under the leadership of Mohandas Gandhi and by 1947 colonial India became independent. In Africa, the struggle against apartheid was one of success as well. The African freedom movement gained began in 1912 with the African National Congress (ANC) and gained

The name mustard comes from the Latin mustum ardens, or burning must. Mustards seeds are mentioned in ancient Sanskrit writings dating back about 5,000 years ago and the Bible calls mustard the greatest among the herbs. Valued for their intense flavours and healing properties, mustard seed and the plant itself have been grown for its beautiful yellow flowers and spicy seedling leaves. • 4. Communication And Provision Of Information 5.4.5.Communication and Provision of information As data are collected, they will be analyzed, summarized and provided to the Office of Risk Communication and Education (ORCE) or VDH leadership as requested. Information will be presented through immediate notification of significant findings and then likely transition to daily (or multiple times per day) reports. VDH leadership may establish a centralized depot for file and report sharing through the HAN and grant access to those folders based on roles and responsibilities. Additional intra agency communication may occur through meetings and conference calls with LHD Directors and epidemiology staff. Of note, during the 2009 influenza pandemic, lessons were learned about information technology and informatics. Perhaps most notable was the fragmentation of data sources and resources across VDH. Development of an informatics plan early in the response to a radiological or nuclear incident is strongly recommended. In addition, calls to the local, regional and central offices may exceed the capacity for timely response; therefore, a public health information center might be established in the central office to centralize communication and respond to the increases in demand for communication with the public and healthcare providers. OEPI epidemiologists (or those from other Offices) may be asked to serve as subject matter experts for the information center, train information center staff, or develop materials to be used
  • 5. The Use Of Dualism With The Mind Body Problem Essay Philosopher: John Locke is an English philosopher born in 1632 and died in 1704. He is one of the most influential philosopher to attack the concept of dualism with the Mind Body problem. Topic: John Locke is very keen on personal identity. He believes that consciousness creates personal identity. The body isn t essential, so when a person s soulfleets to a different body, they are still the same person because their consciousness thrives: Personal Identity is wherever the consciousness is (John Locke s pdf). In order to understand personal identity, he first identifies the concept of a person. A person comprises of a consciousness with experience, the ability to think for oneself, and awareness of the past and present, but not an actual physical presence. Brief Summation of Weekly Topic Dualism is the belief that the mind and body works together. The idea of dualism is that the mind is more than just a physical brain. Consciousness dwells in a mind, which serves as an identity and manifest as a soul. This is separate from a physical body and brain, where when the body dies, the soul will remain and continue living. Personal Driving Questions: Who s to say that the body and the environment don t make up the person s identity as well? My answer: Nobody can rule out the fact that the physical body and the environment a person dwells in makes up a part of their identity. While I agree that consciousness is essential, because that s where all experiences, memories, and
  • 6. Werner By Jo Ann Beard Analysis When disaster strikes, two responses exist: lose hope, or find an inner strength to rise above. Werner is an essay where the author, Jo Ann Beard, presents the idea of rediscovering yourself, rebuilding a life after loss, and rising above adversity. Werner, Beard s main character, finds that the only way to truly move on after a tragedy is to take a leap into what is unfamiliar. After a fire burns down everything Werner has, he is forced to grow and become a new man, leaving his old life behind. Throughout the essay, Beard illustrates a man who faces challenges to his sense of self , and who sequentially must change and become someone new to find who he is again. Beard s use of the third person, candid diction, and conflict resolution compose an elaborate work that focuses on the concept of becoming a new and better person after a traumatic event. Though Beard is retelling Werner s story, she does not do so through the first person. It is told through the eyes of a narrator, who knows more about the situation than Werner himself, at the time. For example, the narrator knows the cause of the fire and the fact that Werner will never be the same, old Werner (Werner 21). This extra knowledge engages the reader more with the story. On the other hand, even though the narrator knows more contextual details, they still provide insight into what Werner is feeling, as he is coping with the reality of being physically pushed forward into something new and unfamiliar (Werner 13).

  • 8. The Haitian Revolution In Langston Hughes s Troubled Island Forward: Contextualizing Troubled Island The Haitian Revolution (1791 1804) is history s only successful slave revolt, and African enslaved persons managed a monumental feat on a largely insignificant island in the Caribbean under French control. Naturally, numerous persons were and are inspired by the Haitian Revolution in facets of life from aggravating social change to creating high art. The story even remains impactful without racial influence; considering, the dominated persons were long subjugated and unprepared for battle, yet they defeated a world power for their freedom. Concentrating on elevated art forms, Langston Hughes (1902 1967) wrote the libretto Troubled Island grounded in the Haitian Revolution s aftermath and Haiti coming into its own as a nation. By following the revolution s leader Jean Jacques Dessalines, Troubled Island stresses Haiti s need to cope with the tribulations of banding together and organizing an emerging nation. Moreover, the libretto highlights intraracism among the Haitians following independence, including France s cultural influence continuing to divide Haitians. Nevertheless, Troubled Island is not a total retelling of actual, historical events, for persons creating a show often alter or add events to fit the operatic stage and emphasizes significant themes. Fundamentally, William Grant Still (1895 1978) composed the music and Langston Hughes wrote the libretto for Troubled Island. In 1931, Hughes briefly visited Haiti,
  • 9. Social Inequality Essay According to www.investopedia.com The overall effect of economic growth on social inequality is, like the effect of a marching column: the column advances and the last rank eventually passes the point which was reached by the vanguard some time before . This suggests that the richest individuals in society have stayed rich, or even become richer, but for those who are classified as poor, the majority of them have stayed the same. The poor continue to make up a large percentage of the European population. This is largely due to low incomes and employment. According to www.theindependent.co.uk UK inequality has increased by 42% since 1977 . This is a clear indicator that the gap between the richest and poorest individuals in society is at its highest level in decades. Social consequences are the impact of an event or action on a social environment. For example, education. Some say that belonging to a wealthy family aids in how children do at school. While education and working hard are seen as important for doing well and getting ahead, knowing the right people and belonging to a wealthy family can also be critical. www.teachfirst.org.uk suggests that The link between low income and low academic attainment is greater in the UK than almost any other developed nation . Within any society, those with higher incomes tend to do better on a variety of outcomes. Therefore, there is a social gradient in health, which means that every step up the socioeconomic ladder leads to
  • 10. The Life of G.F. Handel Essay The Life of G.F. Handel George Frideric Handel was born on February 23rd, 1685 in Halle, Germany. Handel had a passion for music from the time he was capable of understanding it. His father Georg was a highly respected barber/surgeon (Cavendish, vol. 4, pg. 60), which did not believe in music as a career and wanted his son to study law. Georg thought a career in law would offer more prospects and stability (60). Handel s father was so against having his son play music, he took all of his son s instruments out of the house. However, Handel was so interested in music he managed to sneak a clavichord into the loft of the house on which he practiced secretly (60). In his early years, up until he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While never actually working together, J.S. Bach copied many of Antonio s works in trying to unravel the mystery that was behind his compositions. Then there s Francesco Geminiani, which was a student of Corelli s (Carlin 59). Unlike the previously mentioned composers, Geminiani was a soloist choosing to play the violin. The man responsible for teaching G.F. Handel how to play the keyboard and compose was Friedrich Wilhelm Zachau, who was an extraordinary musician himself. Aside from the violins there were also masters of the keyboards, such as a gentleman named Dietrich Buxtehude. Buxtehude had a determination to make the church a center of musical activity (Carlin 62) and founded a series of religious oriented music. He is remembered today for his inspiration for Bach and other younger and greater composers. Bach and Handel are considered the Classical Giants. While their music was a strong influence to the Baroque time period, it was also their achievements that made them the most influential. There were also masterminds such as Hayden and Mozart who added to the culmination marking the development to what we consider classical music. Handel composed well over two hundred pieces in his lifetime. Ranging from oratorios, operas, cantatas, sacred and secular vocals,
  • 11. Architecture And Modern Architecture From the Ancient Egyptian pyramids, to the Ancient Roman Colosseum, architecture is seen in different forms all over the world. As a mechanical engineering student and an art admirer, I am extremely interested in the rich history of architecture, as well as modern architecture. Architecture was, is, and will continue to be a very important aspect of people s lives until the end of time. Today, architecture is more than the skyscrapers in Dubai. It s more than the prominent church of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. It s more than just a house. Architecture is really much larger than that. Architect Daniel Libeskinddeclares, Architecture is the biggest unwritten document of history . Architecture has significant purpose and meaning. Architecture is capable of healingphysically, economically, environmentally, and emotionally. Hospitals are designed with adequate ventilation systems, creating a better environment for the wellbeing of the patients, and decreasing the likelihood of the patients contracting disease from other patients. One excellent example of the physically healing effects of architecture is architect Michael Murphy s Rwandan hospital. There was one hospital in Butaro, Rwanda in which the architecture was causing people to fall more physically ill than they had been previously. For example, the hallways were too small and had a poor ventilation systems, causing patients to contract lung diseases such as tuberculosis just by going into the hospital

With our accomplishment in technology we reached beyond our imagination, some things which our ancestors would only dream on having. But while the technology can be used for good deeds some want to take advantage of it and gain personal profits. So, countermeasures were created for defending against them. • 14. How Media Has Impacted Growing Up With A Measuring Body Image In this advertisement it shows a little girl measuring herself with a measuring tape. By looking at this image, it already outlines that we as society relay on having the perfect ideal women body, which is being thin and skinny. Society also implies that valuing body image and perfection is significant that children at a very young age are already influenced negatively growing up with a corrupted mindset. The little girl in the photo is already measuring her waistline with a measuring tape at such a young age. She is already feeling like she must be skinny to fit into society and is conscious of her size, teaching her that she must look a certain way. The issue is that in society the media has advertisements, commercials and magazines that portray standards such as women being thin, tall and skinny. This according to the Western countries is having the perfect body image. The media shows such unrealistic images to consumers such as these young girls to try to appear like these ideals that are set for them from society that potentially be harmful and unhealthy which could lead to death because of starvation leading to possible long term health disorders such as anorexia, bulimia nervosaand nervosa. My opinion on this issue is those who are suffering with low self esteem shouldn t do such horrific acts like starvation or dieting just to be accepted in society because they feel too fat or they do not meet the societal standard of being perfect. Girls should relay on the ideal

It contains four movements; first, Allegro non troppo in E minor, second, Andante moderato in E minor E major, third, Allegro giocoso in C major and the final Allegro energico e passionato in E minor. The piece starts beautifully with a minor and starts to build up slowly and gradually. The first movement was absolutely abstract. It builds up a soothing feeling inside of you. The music is slow and peaceful. It just takes me to somewhere peaceful. It gives a calming sense and takes away all the tension from
  • 16. American Gay Rights Lesbians, gays, bisexual, and transgender Americans face many oppressions and do not share the same civil rights as their fellow heterosexual citizens. In my opinion, your sexual preferences should not dictate your civil rights. Sadly, this is not the case in America. As a result of globalization, the increasingly interconnectedness of the world, la cuisine has been affected both positively and negatively. On one hand, the French are witnessing rapidly increasing obesity rates across the country as they are turning to places like McDonald s instead of the more refined and truly French options available to them. In addition, wine consumption rates have decreased within the country, while, at the same time, there has been an increase in cases of binge drinking and underage drinking. However K. Willcox (2009) believes that France is at a crossroads in the kitchen. Wine consumption has plummeted by half since the 1960s, and winemakers in Bordeaux, Beaujolais, and Langueduc are going bankrupt left and right. Furthermore, scriptwriting has been an interest of mine since my seventh grade year in middle school, which was when I was first exposed to drama. T1 circuits can be used to transmit data, but often are used to transmit both data and voice. In this case, a time division multiplexer (TDM) provides 24 64 Kbps circuits. Digitized voice using pulse code modulation (PCM) requires a 64 Kbps circuit so T1 circuit enables 24 simultaneous voice channels. T2 circuit transmits data at a rate of 6.312 Mbps. The fact that Simon is drawn from different angles (face front, side view, etc.) gives the child reader a more realistic view of the boy by giving us the idea that he has different sides to him. This design lends to the overall feeling of fright by showing him from different angles and at different distances from the reader; we can assume he is very scared because he is gripping the covers and he does not move very much. The division s strategic plans were presented to corporate management by each division in a planning review meeting and subsequently evaluated in a planning response meeting (Lee Ke 2004). Unlike 1981, these meetings followed each other on the same day in 1982. In 1982, the progress of the planning efforts was disrupted by certain developments; chief among them was the change in the top management. Besides that, considerable management effort was also required to assimilate the recently

Study on Input Controls Running Head: INPUT CONTROLS Introduction The goal of input design is to enhance accuracy, quality, timeliness and completeness of input data during its conversion from its original source into computer application. Meanwhile, data could be entered into the computer by scheduled automated processing or manually. Input controls are the computer tools that assist in enhancing data integrity when data are entered into the system. The input controls perform different functions to enhance data validity and integrity. Functions of Input Controls Input controls are the computer tools that assist in ensuring that data are accurately processed through the application processing to ensure that data are not lost, damaged or altered. More importantly, input controls ensure that the quality of data output is as good as data input into the computer during the data processing. Thus, input controls enhance integrity of data fed into the application systems. The basic function of input controls is that they include necessary measures to ensure that input data are complete, correct and secure. Moreover, input controls ensure that information processed by the computer is valid, accurate, complete and accurately translated into the machine readable form. The input controls also prevent errors input into the computer because large number of errors identified within the computer systems is from the input errors. Thus, input controls assist in eliminating the input errors by using common
  • 40. Jane Austen s Novel And The World Of Books Novels are a unique form of writing that brings about a new style in the world of books. Novel by its definition is a new kind different from anything ever before. These books range from the greats to the recently printed because novels only have to be new for when they came out. So for instance Pride and Prejudice was novel when it came out in 1813 just like how Mrs. Dalloway was novel when it came out in 1925. Although these novels seem to be fiction, if not realistic fiction, it is common to wonder how the authors came up with these ideas for their books. In actuality most authors take experiences that they had from their lives and incorporated them into the story. Often after researching an author one can see that there are many parallels between their novel and their actual life. Some aspects can be from other situations outside of ones personal life, but ultimately authors create much of their stories based off of life experiences and can be seen in Housekeeping, The Passion, and Thomas and Beulah. Growing up in Sandpoint Idaho was the first influence that Marilynne Robinsonhad when it comes to writing her stories. In this instance it has influenced her in her writing of Housekeeping to have a more western and Midwestern feel to there locations. On top of that she includes many rural factors into her stories other than Housekeeping referencing her life growing up in rural Idaho. One of the more notable factors in this comparison in Housekeeping is the town of

Children are not able to consent; so therefore, adults are abusing their authority over a child. The key issue in defining sexual abuse is that they look at the age gap between the two persons.
