Low Fat Research Papers
According to several independently done studies, the key to losing weight is
simply to eat the right foods. Proteins and fat are actually the best foods for losing
weight because they satisfy people for longer and do not cause the dramatic blood
level spikes or high insulin levels that carbohydrates do. In fact, until the last few
centuries, the average human diet consisted mostly of these two vital ingredients.
In controlled experiments, people who are put on an almost entirely protein fat diet
(1900 total calories a day) with less than 240 calories a day from carbohydrates end
up losing one to three pounds a week without feeling noticeably hungrier. The
energy levels of people following these diets actually increase during their fast and
overall wellness levels go up. The only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carbohydrates were not heavily relied upon for energy until the advent of the
agricultural revolution. During the short time frame between the revolution and
now, humans have not had time to adapt to changing eating patterns. Thus it
intuitively makes sense that you can lose weight by eating a traditional high
protein high fat diet. Studies have shown that eating a high carbohydrate diet, not
a high fat one is correlated to a higher incidence of heart disease. This is because
the fatty acids and triglycerides that clog arteries are composed not only of fat but
also of high energy carbohydrate chains. High levels or sugar in the blood are
needed in order to direct the synthesis of these clots. It is for this reason that tribes
like the Maori which eat an extremely high fat high protein diet demonstrate an
almost nonexistent level of heart disease and obesity. One dieting example: when
two British nutritionists, Bruce Bistrian and George Blackburn told their obese
patients to eat nothing but lean meat, fish, and poultry (650 to 800 calories a day)
for a year healf of them lost ast least 40 pounds

The English bill of rights and the declaration rights of man and citizen are two of the

Pacific Lamprey Essay
The Pacific Lamprey (Entosphenus tridentatus) is an anadromous species that is
found along the west coast of North America, primarily along the coast of
Washington, Oregon, and northern California. E. tridentatus is a semelparous
species that can live up to five years and can spend up to three and a half years in
saltwater. They begin metamorphosis in July and the known period of entry into salt
water is from December until June. In the ocean E. tridentatus have been documented
to primarily feed on Pacific Salmonspecies such as Chinook (Oncorhynchus
tshawytscha), Coho (Oncorhynchus kisutch), Sockeye (Oncorhynchus nerka), and
Pink (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha). O. tshawytscha have endured most lamprey attacks
because researchers believe that E. tridentatus attack this salmon when it is making
the transition to swim back up stream to spawn. E. tridentatus who do not represent
an anadromous life style also prey heavily on resident salmonid species. Salmonid
species have an important role in the diet and life history of E. tridentatus as they are

tridentatus is known as an opportunistic predator as it tries to exert as little energy
as possible in order to obtain an easy meal. However, we do not know for sure if E.
tridentatus preferred salmonid of choice is in fact O. tshawytscha. Observations from
past studies have shown that O. tshawytscha is preyed upon more than other fish
species. When it is compared against another salmonid species, such as a O. kisutch,
there is slight difference between them due to availability and environmental
conditions that might prevent E. tridentatus to prey upon certain species. The
question remains if E. tridentatus was placed inside a control environment with
several salmonid species that all have an equal chance of predation, would it still
prefer a certain species or would it still exhibit an opportunistic feeding

Essay on William Faulkner s Absalom, Absalom!
William Faulkner s Absalom, Absalom!
William Faulkner s novel entitled Absalom, Absalom! is a book which systematically
utilizes the concept of discovering the past in the present. Faulkner s use of the past
in the present is pertinent in both the construction of the plot of Absalom, Absalom!
as well as the extension of its interpreted meanings. Furthermore, Faulkner s writing
of Absalom, Absalom! appears to have been motivated by the great ills and conflicts
of the American South, which was most poignant during the American Civil War,
while the title, as well as its implications, was simultaneously conceived in Faulkner s
mind. The fact that the story of Absalom in the Old Testament and the plot of
Absalom, Absalom! are so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ability for Faulkner to obtain and convey the truth, or what one should do, does
not, however, hinge upon his telling of the story. Instead, Faulkner presents, through
his characters, similar inhibitions that existed in the story of Absalom in the Old
Testament with the belief that the past in the present will reveal, being compelled
separately and individually, truth for the benefit of the projected future.
Within the context of Absalom, Absalom!, the revival of the past into the present is
achieved by focusing on Thomas Sutpen s, or who is Colonel Sutpen s, deplorable
story and how it is incorporated into the lives of those related to or associated with
him. When Ms. Rosa Coldfield is relaying her interpretation of the past story of
Colonel Sutpen to his friend s grandson, Quentin, Quentin battles to disassociate
himself from the stigmas of the South, specifically the time period of the American
Civil war, with which his grandfather, General Compson, was imbued: Then hearing

Companies are Tricking People Through Marketing...
Companies use advertisements as a mirror for their products. They use
advertisements to encourage, persuade, or manipulate their audience. The most
important factor for the company is how the advertisements will appeal to the
customers. Companies use psychologists to help them gauge social trends. Time
and culture are very important as well companies need to know what people like,
value, or need the most at a certain time. They consider all of these factors when
promoting their products, yet they do not consider the quality of said products.
Companies have been successful with marketing advertisement because people
usually pay too much attention to the advertisements to pick what works best for
them, while trying to buy something. The first and second advertisements are about
how the corporations use Disney characters and happy kids on food or toys
products. Many food and toys, especially geared for children, usually have a kind
of contest that goes along with it. If you buy this , you have a chance to win this
which makes kids want it more. Usually a PlayStation or Xbox is the big prize
offered. Many things geared towards the children have a big impact on the child
who then makes it a big impact on the parent. Most of the times companies use
happy or cute kids to promote yogurt, cereal and toys advertisements, because people
like cute kids. Also all children are looking for that happinessand joy but when they
buy it they do not find what they were looking for. The

1. What is the r value for the relationship between Hamstring strength index 60В°/s
and the Shuttle run test? Is this r value significant? Provide a rationale for your
answer.
ANSWER: The obligatory r value is 0.149 and this r value is not significant since the
p value for this correlation coefficient or r is 0.424 which is extra than 0.05 or 0.01
and henceforth at 5% and 10% both level , the null hypothesis of insignificance
cannot be rejected and the assumption is the r value is not significant.

for your answer.
ANSWER: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

absolute r value.
9. The researchers stated that no significant relationship could be described between
Hamstring strength indices 60В°/s and functional stability. Given the data in Table 5,
explain why not.
ANSWER: It is correct as the p values for Hamstring strength indices 60В°/s and all
variables remained grander than 0.05. The p values were 0.08, 0.06, 0.424, 0.506,
and 0.802. These p values do not suggest significance at the 5% level. The r values
among Hamstring strength indices 60%/s and functional solidity all are not
significant at 0.05 and 0.01 both significant level. Therefore, suggests no significant
connection and because of this cause, this can be conclude that not any significant
connection possibly will be defined among Hamstring strength indices 60%/s and
functional solidity.
10. Consider the relationship reported for the Quadriceps strength index 120В°/s
and the Hop index (r = 0.744**, p = 0.000). What do these r and p values indicate
related to statistical significance and clinical importance?
ANSWER: These r and p values specify a stout constructive statistical significance,
as the r value is nearby to 1.0, and the p value is 0.0 0.05. Clinically this displays
that as Quadriceps strength index 120В°/s increases in the same manner the Hop
index. It is very vital to instruct patients regarding the significance of strength

The Importance Of The National Park System
Although sites in the National Park System can sometimes be difficult to categorize
due to their diversity, each site is given a designation that attempts to best capture the
nature and uses of site. As determined by Congress in 1970, all units within the
system have equal legal standing. This means that all sites within the National Park
System have equal protection under the law. The National Park System falls under
the purview of the Department of the Interior.
Designations within the National Park System include:
* National Park* National Historical Park* National Recreation Area* National
Parkway
* National Monument* National Memorial* National Seashore* National Trail
* National Preserve* National Battlefield* National Lakeshore* Affiliated Areas
* National Historic Site* National Cemetery* National River* Other Designations
Information on the National Park and National Monument designation are detailed in
following pages. For more information on other designations, please visit the National
Park Service website here.

Choose one of these three styles and show how production choices helped to
illuminate the literary style of the film.

The production choices regarding
camera angles, music and costumes contributed to the overarching feeling that the
movie is postmodernist because as previously mentioned, the camera angles
chosen break the fourth wall between the actor and the audience, making it feel as
though they are directly involved in the scene. For instance, during Leon s
interview, while Rick is observing, the camera angle changes and it feels as though
you have been placed in the movie set. Again, after Pris gymnastic display, the
angle switches to a close up and she stares into the camera. This is significant as
this creates a sense of audience involvement and breaks the fourth wall, two key
features of postmodernist art. The costumes on the other hand, emphasize certain
postmodern elements such as pastiche. As a result of high levels of recycling in this
futuristic world, recycled fashion has surfaced and a re emergence of dead styles
have come forward; as is evident by Pris outfit and Zhora s eye catching plastic coat.
The music in composed in Blade Runner has a very noir feel to it and it mirrors that
of the futuristic setting. Furthermore, it helps manipulate the audience s emotions
and draws them into the

Gas Laws Should Be Taught As A Verb
GAS LAWS
Science should be taught as a verb as well as a noun. Performing science is a
compelling as well as an effective way to learn. It is through the process of
exploration, creation and invention that theories are applied, ideas are tested and
knowledge is synthesized.
Much of what discussed in the paper is to have an understanding of gases in the
atmosphere, factors that affect the properties of these gases and so the laws of
gases which help to do so. Now why do we need to study these laws? Because gases
compose our atmosphere. These are responsible for the process without which no one
can survive i.e. breathing.
Atmosphere is a gaseous envelope surrounding the earth. It is made up of a
combination of water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most important things about gases is that, despite wide differences in
chemical properties, all the gases more or less obey the gas laws. The gas laws deal
with how gases behave with respect to pressure, temperature, volume and amount.
This uniformity of physical behavior was of great interest with early scientists. It is
one of the dogmas of scientists that the behavior of a material is a reflection of the
particles that make up the substance. In other words, differences between solids,
liquids and gases reflect the movement of the small particles that compose all matter.
This assumption is part of the Kinetic Theory Of Gases (Kinetic is from the Greek
word for motion). Historically, the description of the gas properties has been
summarized by the mathematical equations describing the relationships between the
gas volume, pressure and temperature. These equations, named after the scientist who
first demonstrated their validity, have been labeled the gas laws. These gas laws are
best understood within the framework described as the kinetic theory of gases:
Gases are composed of molecules.
These molecules are in constant motion. This is why gases mix to uniformity and fill
all portions of the containment vessel.
Molecules of the gas collide frequently with each other and with the walls of the
containment vessel.
Under ordinary circumstances, the distance between the gas molecules is far greater
than the size of the individual

Culture And Japanese Culture
Culture. The arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement
regarded collectively. The dictionary definition seems a little harsh, so let s fix that.
Culture. Something that we are all born into, one that we can t escape, but it doesn t
define who we are as a person most of the time. You can t just look at somebody,
somebody who might be Japanese for example, and just blatantly expect that person
to become the next doctor or lawyer. Just because a cultureis well known or
stereotypically seen to be something, doesn t mean the individual bearing that
culture has to live up to those standards. That Japanese person could want to be the
next New York Best Selling author or just a mere teacher because that s what
interests them. Nobody s future is set in stone the second they come into the
world, nor does it come easy as their lives go on. Sure, culture has some helping
guidelines to what they should do in their lives, maybe it be the habits or nature of
Japanese parents always pushing you to do your best, or it s just the different
cultures of a family. Sometimes there are people born into two or more cultures,
and they have to come to the conclusion that they can be any amount of any culture
they want. Just because you re born in America but come from a long line of
Mexicans doesn t mean you can t be both. Ok yes, sometimes it s hard to fit in with
both cultures because both cultures see you as the other, but it s not their choice to
define who you are and what you believe in. It s your job to come to that
conclusion on your own and you must make that decision that you are proud of.
Sometimes people can be cruel, judging you based on looks rather than personality
or morals, but it s just the way of life. How you choose to handle that as time goes
on is the only thing that matters. No matter what the case, culture still plays a minor
role in the scripting of your life but remember, you re the author with the pen. You
are in charge of writing your life story. Nobody else.

The strengths of this study are the ability to identify the common barriers for

Source: www.wikipedia.org
Hyderabad was established by the Qutub Shahi dynasty, but it only rose to
prominence when the Mughal rulers established their dynasty Nizams of Hyderabad
here. As a matter of fact, when India established its independence, the Indian Army
had to capture the then princely state of Hyderabad as its rulers(against its citizens)
wanted to be a part of the country of Pakistan.
Apart from having a rich culture and heritage ,Hyderabad is the rising IT Hub of
India. There are high rise buildings and wide spread campus of multi national
companies galore here. Google, Amazon, Infosys : all have expansive and beautiful
campuses here. Hyderabad also has a booming real estate sector. All these factors
make Hyderabad such a precious city that Telangana and Andhra Pradeshfought over
its custody when they seperated in 2014. Hyderabad was finally granted joint capital
status for 10 years ,much to the relief of its citizens.
The city occupies 650 square kilometres. This area ranges from the rich in heritage
old city to the modern HiTech City. The old city part is where the actual
Hyderabadis live, the ones who have lived here for generations. Over the
Diego VelГЎzquez s Impact On The Painting Industry
Over the years, Spain has produced many significant figures. From sports, to politics,
many renowned people have had their meager beginnings in this eastern European
country. Some of the greatest, however, were the artists. Not only did Spaniards
create beautiful paintings, but they also birthed entirely new sects in the art culture.
Although innumerable world famous painters have been Spanish, Diego de
VelГЎzquez, Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dali have made some of
the greatest impacts on the painting industry. The first of these great painters was
Diego VelГЎzquez. Born in Seville, Spain, in 1599, VelГЎzquez possessed great
talent in the realm of art. His parents recognized this, and at the young age of eleven,

Essay on The Life-Span Developmental Approach to
Counseling
The life span development approach addresses the basic nature versus nurture
debate by allowing for both. Just as our physicals selves are determined by both
genetics and lifestyle, so are our emotional selves. As a Licensed Professional
Counselor, I plan to consider life span development to specialize in counseling a
specific type of person with hopes of becoming well versed, and therefore more
helpful, in the types of experiences that group faces. Personality can be better
understood if it is examined developmentally (Santrock, 2006, p. 45). Considering
cognitive, biological, and socioemotional development throughout life will provide
context, guideposts, and reasonable expectations for counselors. Life span

Author Judith Harris theorizes that heredity and peer environment are the sole
factors in a person s development, and therefore parents have no affect on the
development of their children. The life span perspective should probably make
room for familial environment: family of origin and family of choice. Assuming
Harris is correct, a life span approach to counseling will allow that children and
spouses do influence an adult s development. Environmental factors on a micro level
feature the nuclear family; macro level factors can include social mores, regional
cultural norms, and even national identity. Santrock points out that each of these
factors influences our understanding of children and adults and informs our
decisions as a society about how they should be treated (2006, p. 9). A counselor can
guide a person to examining the correlation between environment and societal
attitudes, and then the impact on his or her own development. Providing a social
support such as counseling from a life span perspective must include physical
context. Age is an obvious, but significant, biological concern. Erikson s theory of
development defines periods throughout our lives by eight common crises. The
stages continue until death, although each stage has an optimal time (Boeree, 1997,
par. 27). Familiarity with each stage s crisis is the foundation of counseling from a
life span development perspective. Focusing on one stage s crisis

The Lake Tahoe basin is divided by the scenic and beautiful border of California and
Nevada. The gorgeous lake is, ...admired for its great depth and clarity and beautiful
alpine surroundings (tahoe.usgs.gov). The mountain ranges around the perimeter of
the basin were formed 24 million years ago by the rise and fall of the earth s crust due
to the movement of faults. The Carson Range to the east was created by tilt block
faulting and resulted in a very steep mountain range (tahoeadventuresports.com).
Another fault created the Sierra Nevada range to the west, but is more of a gentle
change in elevation. As the fault blocks were thrown up, the high peaks of the
mountain ranges were created and as other fault blocks were thrown down, a
valley was created. Some of the peaks of the ranges can reach over 10,000 feet
above sea level, making an exaggerated difference between the lake and the ranges.
Movement of other faults in the area caused the valley to sink thousands of feet
below the mountains on the east and west. Volcanic activity from Mt. Pluto on the
north shore resulted in lava flowing and blocking the outlet of the newly
developing valley. About 3 million years ago the ice age created glaciers in the
Sierra Nevada. As they moved and scoured the land, lakes were created behind
them as piles of granite rock were left to block the outflow of water from melted
snow and rainfall. Lake Tahoe, Fallen Leaf Lake, Cascade Lakes, and Donner Lake
were formed by this process. Lake Tahoe as we know it today is the third deepest
lake in North America and tenth deepest lake in the world, with the deepest part

One of the main points of discussion is the idea of the fanatic itself and how
fandom is an accepted mode of obsession in the contemporary world. Much of the
discourse on the subject deals with the complex psychology of the word through
anthropological and psychoanalytical work on what it means to be a fanthe mixture of
reverence for their object of affection, but also the embarrassment of being associated
with what some might deem as crazy or superficial. The definition of fan has altered
over time, with it becoming increasingly negative. Many fans even shy away from
calling themselves that, or separate their fandomidentity (often found online) with
their real life identity. While much has been written in the beginning of fandom

Jesuits are mainly made up of just Priests and Brothers. The mission of the
Marianist is to seek the gospel through service and the lives of others. With the

recreational sports and has become essential for the protection of the people that

Feminist Theory Applied to Hamlet

probably the most frequently illustrated and cited of Shakespeare s heroines. Her
visibility as a subject in literature, popular culture, and painting, from Redon who
paints her drowning, to Bob Dylan, who places her on Desolation Row, to Cannon
Mills, which has named a flowery sheet pattern after her, is in inverse relation to her
invisibility in Shakespearean critical texts. Why has she been such a potent and

According to David Leverenz, in an important essay called The Woman in Hamlet.
Hamlet s disgust at the feminine passivity in himself is translated into violent
revulsion against women, and into his brutal behaviour towards Ophelia. Ophelia
s suicide, Leverenz argues, then becomes a microcosm of the male world s
banishment of the female, because woman represents everything denied by
reasonable men. To liberate Ophelia from the text, or to make her its tragic center,
is to re appropriate her for our own ends; to dissolve her into a female symbolism of
absence is to endorse our own marginality; to make her Hamlet s anima is to reduce
her to a metaphor of male experience. I would like to propose instead that Ophelia
does have a story of her own that feminist criticism can tell; it is neither her life story,
nor her love story, nor Lacan s story, but rather the history of her representation. This
essay tries to bring together some of the categories of French feminist thought about
the feminine with the empirical energies of American historical and critical research;
to yoke French theory and Yankee knowhow. Tracing the iconography of Ophelia in

How Did Latin America Change Over Time
Latin America has a long and complex history. From the early 1500s to 1888 there
have been many political changes (foreign control, political ideology, slavery) and
some continuities (central control), but the changes have had a greater effect because
independent nations were able to establish themselves and form their own
governments. Globally, the European Industrial Revolution was taking place which
allowed for a political advantage because the new technologies could give the
European governments stronger control over their colonies.
The end of foreign control over various territories in Latin America has been a major
change in this region s history. For many decades the colony of Saint Domingue
was under French control and used to produce various agricultural products. It was
home to over a half million slaves that worked on the 8,000 sugar and coffee
plantations. This changed when in the late 18th century a slave revolution took place
led by the former slave Toussaint L ouverture. By the end of the revolt French rule
had been ended and the newly named Haiti had become independent. This ending of

These revolutionary leaders held ideas inspired by the enlightenment ideas from
Europe. The liberal ideas held by Spanish revolutionary leaders were an important
change because they helped to motivate working class people to engage in
governmental reform. These ideas became more mainstream once independence from

Pachuco asked Henry, quot;Off to fight for your country? quot; (p. 30) Henry
replies, quot; Why not? quot; (p. 30) Pachuco then states, quot;Because this ain t
your country. Look what s happening all around you. The Japs have sewed up the
Pacific. Rommel is kicking ass in Egypt but the Mayor of L.A. has declared an all
out war on Chicanos. On you! quot; (p. 30) This quote brings up the issue relating
to whether WWII should be fought by Mexican Americans or not. Pachuco, in this
scene, seems to feel that it isn t a war to be fought by the Mexican American but it is
a time to begin a war to gain respect for this culture.
Pachuco says, quot; The city s cracking down on pachucos, carnal. Don t you read

the press is exaggerating the stories it tells in order to sell more papers. The press

The Life Of Contemplation Is The Best Life
In the Book X of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle concludes that a life of
contemplation is the best and happiest life for both gods and humans. According to
Aristotle, the life of reason and contemplation will be the happiest because it is the
highest form of activity. The life of contemplation as considered by Aristotle, is
the best life because it is a characteristic of how the gods lived their own life.
Aristotle explained this statement in details when he states that the life of
contemplation is more Godlike. These arguments are valid and also sound because
he believes the life of contemplation to be the best life because it is Godlike. And
since it is Godlike it can be considered the best life. This is therefore sound because
what is considered good by the gods is good for us.
Before dwelling into Aristotle contemplative life, the link between pleasure and virtue
must be made first in order to understand his ideas about contemplative life. The link
between pleasure and virtue must be recognized first. When we consider Aristotle s
conception of happiness, it is important that we stress that it involves activity of soul
in accordance with virtue, since virtue, on its own, isn t enough to make a life good.
We can t act virtuously without being virtuous, but it is possible to be virtuous
without acting virtuously (Jackman 2017 ). As stated above, Aristotle considers
virtue to be associated with the soul rather the body. Furthermore, he explained this
in details when he talked about the vegetative soul, the appetitive soul and lastly the
reasoning soul. The vegetative soul according to him is not rational but a
characteristics of all living creatures. The appetitive soul is also irrational but can
reason in a way vegetative can t. The reasoning soul according to him is not shared
with other animals but are moral virtues like courage (Jackman 2017). As stated
above, reasoning (reasoning soul) is the only thing that distinguishes humans from
other animals. Therefore reasoning is the function of humans since it involves moral
virtues.
As was stated by Nozick, there are certain lives we would reject even if it involves
more pleasure. In relation to Nozick, Aristotle believes there are things we would
Why Is Gun Safety Important
Gun Safety Gun safety is knowing how to use and what to do with a gun and
keeping them away from people who do not know what to do with a gun and could
possibly misuse it. Gun safety was brought to attention when more kids started killed
themselves from the gun not being kept safe. This could involve someone you know
and could resolve in their death. Gunsafety should be influenced by keeping them in
a safe and educating people about them, if not, someone could be charged with
murder, even if they re not the one who pulled the trigger. Guns need to be in a safe
away from children. Children under age 12 die from gun accidents in the U.S. about
once a week, on average (Martelle). Almost every death begins with the same basic
circumstances:
Eileen Fisher
In the future, Eileen Fisher needs to make sure they deliver a consistent message,
even if they are attracting customers from other segments the focus needs to be on
keeping the Eileen brand consistent.
My recommendation for the future of the Eileen Fisher brand is that they need to
focus on keeping the Established segment engaged with the brand and grow their
customer base by positioning the brand to attract women from the emerging segment.
They can accomplish this by positioning the brand as a brand for successful women a
brand that denotes accomplishment and that signifies that they ve reached major
milestones in their life. They also need to launch brand extensions and launch lines
of shoes, bags and accessories to bridge the gap between ... Show more content on

But for new customers, the new brand extensions will be essential to be able to offer
a competitive product offering that will attract them to the brand. Therefore, we can
avoid conflict between both segments by letting them choose the products they want
depending in their needs.
Another problem could be communication, how are they going to communicate the
message to both segments. The general message will be based on this idea of the
successful woman with focus on the traditional clothing line and slight emphasis on
the accessories. More specific campaigns targeted in social media, publications or
events will be more specifically targeted to one of the segments, with those aimed at
the Nascent segment focusing more on the versatility and accessories and those
targeting the Established segment more centered on the traditional clothing
The Most Advanced Technology to Prevent Diabetes is the...
Present Technology The most advanced technology for preventing diabetes currently
is the insulin pump. This is a box about the size of a computer mouse and it supplies
insulin to your pancreas. It has many advantages but sadly, it has much more
disadvantages. An advantage of having an insulin pump is that the device delivers
insulinto you. It keeps your blood glucose level in range. If your blood glucose level
gets too high you can press a button on your pump to produce insulin (American
Diabetes AssociationInsulin Pumps ). It is a great machine to have if you have
diabetes, it will make your life much easier. This has lots of advantages but there are
also lots of disadvantages of the present technology which is why we are improving
this a lot.
One disadvantage of the present technology is you have to carry it around
everywhere. This is basically shows everyone that you have diabetes and people
might feel uncomfortable. That is why our invention is a microchip inside you that
nobody can see. Another disadvantage of the insulin pump is every hour or two you
have to measure your blood glucose level. People have to monitor their blood
glucose rate for the rest of their lives. But with our microchip you never have to
worry about checking your levels again. Also when people take baths, showers or
go swimming they have to disconnect the pump. With our microchip this never has
to be worried about. You have to prick your finger 4 5 times a day to check your
Outline Of The AFLP Procedure (RFLP)
Figure 7. Outline of the AFLP procedure (Vuylsteke et al., 2007)
(2) Restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP)
When utilizing PCR RFLP, a DNA fragment is first amplified by PCR, then it is
digested by a certain restriction endonuclease to generate a restriction polymorphic
profile for the test subject species (Shaw et al., 2002). PCR amplification should be
highly conserved among a species so that it can be easily amplified. Each fragment
length is considered an allele, and RFLP occurs when the length of a detected
fragment varies between individuals.
(3) Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD)
RAPD is effective in screening the differences in DNA sequences. The RAPD
markers are also DNA fragments from PCR amplification,

Essay on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S.
Lewis
In C.S. Lewis s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Lewis emphasizes the three
points of philosophy, themes, and symbolism throughout his writing. Lewis was a
strong Christian man, and wanted to make children see and understand all the stories
of the Bible. Therefore, he put Christian elements through his books, but with fantasy
characters as well. Especially in this story, Lewis conveys the differences between
good and evil. Aslanis represented as Christ just as the White Witchrepresents the
sense of evil. Lewis wrote several books in this Narniaseries, but The Lion, the Witch,
and the Wardrobe became the most famous and recognized of his novels. C.S. Lewis
became one of the most prominent Christian writers in contemporary... Show more

In chapter 14, there is a descriptive explanation of some of the creatures that existed
in Narnia: A great crown of people were standing all round the Stone Table and
though the moon was shining, many of them carried torches which burned with
evil looking red flames and black smoke (Lewis 151). There were also ogres with
huge teeth, wolves, and bull headed men along with evil trees, and poisonous
plants. Some creatures could be described in length for the sake of the readers
(Lewis 151). Later on, one child s disloyalty to his siblings becomes a huge
problem. Aslan decides to risk his own life for the boy. All in all, good overthrows
evil, and the children become kings and queens of Narnia in the end (Langford).
Aslan proclaims: Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen. Bear it
well, Sons of Adam! Bear it well, Daughters of Eve! (Lewis 182). The point for
Lewis to write these books was as an effort to tell children the Christian stories. He
makes examples in chronological order starting with the beginning of time, moves to
the death and life of Christ, and finally the end of the world. For most people in this
time, when they heard about God or Christianity, they did not want to listen. Instead
of giving children ordinary Bible stories, he wrote adventures. He wanted them to
learn and believe, as he did, that Christianity would always be there. He filled the
books with fictional animals, and
Pathophysiologic Model
Cardiovascular function results from the interplay of the heart, systemic vasculature,
blood volume, and tissues in their functions as pump, transporting pathways, and
oxygen carrying and consuming end organs, and problems with structure or function
of the filling and ejection mechanisms of the heart will lead to failing oxygen
delivery and compensatory attempts, a complex disease condition known as heart
failure (Porth, 2015). Dysfunction may involve initially primarily one ventricle only,
though over time both sides may become affected. In left ventricular failure decreased
cardiac output and outflow into the periphery leads to pulmonary congestion,
evidenced by pulmonary edema and impaired gas exchange (Porth, 2015). As a result,

Bovine Infertility
Bovine infertility is one of the major economic issues challenging the dairy industry
today. Currently in the United States, expenses stemming from dairy cow infertility
are estimated to exceed $350M per year. Several factors contribute to this problem,
including, anovulation, the inability to ovulate a fertilizable egg. Acknowledging that
the occurrence of ovulation is facilitated by the actions of the immune system, I m
hypothesizing that impairment of the immune system will alter the activity of
leukocytes, especially macrophage within the ovary. Additionally, Vascular
endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is an endothelial specific mitogenic agent, which
is associated with rapid vascular growth in a variety of physiological and pathological
Coach Player Communication
I will never forget the day during my junior year that my basketball coach benched
the entire first team. During half time, our coach criticized the team for our complete
and utter lack of unity. He elaborated on the clashing of our personalities which
resulted in pathetic teamwork. Coach reminded us that we should do everything
possible to not let our feelings and emotions get in the way of our performance. He
pointed out these attributes can be detrimental to skill. Our coach insisted that a
distorted mindset can produce confusion and disunity within the team. This kind of
behavior shows a lack of accountability, immaturity, and often leads to disrespect
towards one another and our coach. An athlete should be able to express their

A new building is like a new beginning, a fresh start for all. However, with newness

leadership do not go away with a new building. The need for change in the Canyon
Vista Medical Center (CVMC) rehabilitation department is apparent, but unless the
change is made in an appropriate manner, the change would be short lived and turn
out to hurt the rehabilitation center at the hospital. The need for specific human

The amount of conflict between these two groups at CVMC requires intervention.
The Human Process Intervention, focuses on people within organizations and the
processes through which they accomplish organizational goals. These processes
include communication, problem solving, group decision making and leadership
(Cummings Worley, 2015, p. 157). More specifically the intervention that would be
utilized to help with the conflict between the PT s and PTA s would be to do
individual interventions and team building. An individual intervention such as the
Johari window is a great tool that allows individuals to gain feedback about their
behaviors (Cummings Worley, 2015). The understanding and awareness of their
behaviors and how they act among their fellow co workers could awaken them to
change.
Along with individual interventions, team building would be utilized to help with
the conflicts between these two groups. As evident in the past, conflict among these
two groups roams, the prevention and quieting of conflict has been unsuccessful. In
the words of Coggburn, Battaglio and Bradbury (2014) conflict is a fact of
organizational life it is inevitable and potentially desirable (p. 499). Putting the PT s,
a PTA and a tech together as a team would force these three groups to work together.
In fact, the conflict among them may allow for linked learning, higher creative and

Essay On Periodic Evaluation And Evaluation
The University of Pittsburgh has been using periodic evaluation and assessment of

Student Learning Outcomes, n.d.).
The above learning outcomes are assessed in a standardized way every three to five
years. There are program committees responsible for development and identification
of goals for the assessments, interpreting results, and describing a plan for addressing
them. The University of Pittsburgh has been engaged in university wide initiatives to
assess student learning and utilize the results of revising curriculum and instruction
since 2006 (Kurzweil, 2015). These practices are real pieces of evidence that support
the adoption of a culture of assessment by The University of Pittsburgh. Based on the
accreditation report of Middle States Commission, the university is praised for its
culture of assessment. That can be attributed to its commitment to excellence and
support leadership (Hill, 2012 September 9).
As mentioned earlier, a key element of fostering a culture of assessment is the
support of leadership. It can be said that leaders of the University of Pittsburgh are
giving a good example within that realm. It works on institutionalizing the necessary
process and guidelines and does what is necessary to engage different players and
stakeholders throughout the process.
To learn more about assessment culture of the University of Pittsburgh, Kurzweil

Employee Remuneration

INTRODUCTION
1. MEANING OF WAGE/ COMPENSATION PAYMENT: Wage is a monetary
payment made by the employer to his employee for the work done or services
rendered. It is a monetary compensation for the services rendered [1]. A worker may
be paid Rs. 100 per day or Rs. 4500 per month. This is wage payment. The worker
gives his services and takes payment called wage payment. Industrial workers are
paid remuneration for their services in terms of money called wage payment.

1.2 CONCEPT OF FAIR WAGES:
Fair wages is the wage which is above the minimum wage but below the living wage.
Obviously the lower limit of the fair wage is the minimum wage and the upper
limit is set by the ability of the industry to pay. Between these two limits, fair
wages should depend on the factors like 1. Prevailing rates of wages in the same
occupation 2. Prevailing rates of wages in the same region or neighbouring areas 3.
Employers ability to pay 4. Level of national income and its distribution 5.
Productivity of labour 6. Status enjoyed by the industry in the economy
Hence it can be said that fair wages are determined on industry cum region basis.
When fair wages are paid employees enjoy higher standard of living. It is accepted
fact that wages must be fair and reasonable. Wages is fair when the employee is able
to meet its essential needs and enjoy reasonable standard of living. Equal pay for
equal work serves as base of fair wage [4].
1.3 FACTORS INFLUENCING WAGE AND SALARY STRUCTURE [5] The
organization s ability to pay:
Wage increases should be given by those organizations which can afford them.
Companies that have good sales and therefore high profits tend to pay higher wages
than those which are

  • 2. Low Fat Research Papers According to several independently done studies, the key to losing weight is simply to eat the right foods. Proteins and fat are actually the best foods for losing weight because they satisfy people for longer and do not cause the dramatic blood level spikes or high insulin levels that carbohydrates do. In fact, until the last few centuries, the average human diet consisted mostly of these two vital ingredients. In controlled experiments, people who are put on an almost entirely protein fat diet (1900 total calories a day) with less than 240 calories a day from carbohydrates end up losing one to three pounds a week without feeling noticeably hungrier. The energy levels of people following these diets actually increase during their fast and overall wellness levels go up. The only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carbohydrates were not heavily relied upon for energy until the advent of the agricultural revolution. During the short time frame between the revolution and now, humans have not had time to adapt to changing eating patterns. Thus it intuitively makes sense that you can lose weight by eating a traditional high protein high fat diet. Studies have shown that eating a high carbohydrate diet, not a high fat one is correlated to a higher incidence of heart disease. This is because the fatty acids and triglycerides that clog arteries are composed not only of fat but also of high energy carbohydrate chains. High levels or sugar in the blood are needed in order to direct the synthesis of these clots. It is for this reason that tribes like the Maori which eat an extremely high fat high protein diet demonstrate an almost nonexistent level of heart disease and obesity. One dieting example: when two British nutritionists, Bruce Bistrian and George Blackburn told their obese patients to eat nothing but lean meat, fish, and poultry (650 to 800 calories a day) for a year healf of them lost ast least 40 pounds

Pacific Lamprey Essay The Pacific Lamprey (Entosphenus tridentatus) is an anadromous species that is found along the west coast of North America, primarily along the coast of Washington, Oregon, and northern California. E. tridentatus is a semelparous species that can live up to five years and can spend up to three and a half years in saltwater. They begin metamorphosis in July and the known period of entry into salt water is from December until June. In the ocean E. tridentatus have been documented to primarily feed on Pacific Salmonspecies such as Chinook (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), Coho (Oncorhynchus kisutch), Sockeye (Oncorhynchus nerka), and Pink (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha). O. tshawytscha have endured most lamprey attacks because researchers believe that E. tridentatus attack this salmon when it is making the transition to swim back up stream to spawn. Observations from past studies have shown that O. tshawytscha is preyed upon more than other fish species. When it is compared against another salmonid species, such as a O. kisutch, there is slight difference between them due to availability and environmental conditions that might prevent E. tridentatus to prey upon certain species. The question remains if E. tridentatus was placed inside a control environment with several salmonid species that all have an equal chance of predation, would it still prefer a certain species or would it still exhibit an opportunistic feeding

Faulkner s use of the past in the present is pertinent in both the construction of the plot of Absalom, Absalom! as well as the extension of its interpreted meanings. Furthermore, Faulkner s writing of Absalom, Absalom! appears to have been motivated by the great ills and conflicts of the American South, which was most poignant during the American Civil War, while the title, as well as its implications, was simultaneously conceived in Faulkner s mind. The researchers stated that no significant relationship could be described between Hamstring strength indices 60В°/s and functional stability. Given the data in Table 5, explain why not. ANSWER: It is correct as the p values for Hamstring strength indices 60В°/s and all variables remained grander than 0.05. The p values were 0.08, 0.06, 0.424, 0.506, and 0.802. These p values do not suggest significance at the 5% level. The r values among Hamstring strength indices 60%/s and functional solidity all are not significant at 0.05 and 0.01 both significant level. Therefore, suggests no significant connection and because of this cause, this can be conclude that not any significant connection possibly will be defined among Hamstring strength indices 60%/s and functional solidity. 10. Consider the relationship reported for the Quadriceps strength index 120В°/s and the Hop index (r = 0.744**, p = 0.000). What do these r and p values indicate related to statistical significance and clinical importance? ANSWER: These r and p values specify a stout constructive statistical significance, as the r value is nearby to 1.0, and the p value is 0.0 0.05. The production choices regarding camera angles, music and costumes contributed to the overarching feeling that the movie is postmodernist because as previously mentioned, the camera angles chosen break the fourth wall between the actor and the audience, making it feel as though they are directly involved in the scene. For instance, during Leon s interview, while Rick is observing, the camera angle changes and it feels as though you have been placed in the movie set. Again, after Pris gymnastic display, the angle switches to a close up and she stares into the camera. This is significant as this creates a sense of audience involvement and breaks the fourth wall, two key features of postmodernist art. The costumes on the other hand, emphasize certain postmodern elements such as pastiche. As a result of high levels of recycling in this futuristic world, recycled fashion has surfaced and a re emergence of dead styles have come forward; as is evident by Pris outfit and Zhora s eye catching plastic coat. The music in composed in Blade Runner has a very noir feel to it and it mirrors that of the futuristic setting. Furthermore, it helps manipulate the audience s emotions and draws them into the

It is through the process of exploration, creation and invention that theories are applied, ideas are tested and knowledge is synthesized. Much of what discussed in the paper is to have an understanding of gases in the atmosphere, factors that affect the properties of these gases and so the laws of gases which help to do so. Now why do we need to study these laws? Because gases compose our atmosphere. These are responsible for the process without which no one can survive i.e. breathing. Atmosphere is a gaseous envelope surrounding the earth. It is made up of a combination of water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most important things about gases is that, despite wide differences in chemical properties, all the gases more or less obey the gas laws. The gas laws deal with how gases behave with respect to pressure, temperature, volume and amount. This uniformity of physical behavior was of great interest with early scientists. It is one of the dogmas of scientists that the behavior of a material is a reflection of the particles that make up the substance. In other words, differences between solids, liquids and gases reflect the movement of the small particles that compose all matter. This assumption is part of the Kinetic Theory Of Gases (Kinetic is from the Greek word for motion). Historically, the description of the gas properties has been summarized by the mathematical equations describing the relationships between the gas volume, pressure and temperature. These equations, named after the scientist who first demonstrated their validity, have been labeled the gas laws. These gas laws are best understood within the framework described as the kinetic theory of gases: Gases are composed of molecules. These molecules are in constant motion. This is why gases mix to uniformity and fill all portions of the containment vessel. Molecules of the gas collide frequently with each other and with the walls of the containment vessel. Under ordinary circumstances, the distance between the gas molecules is far greater than the size of the individual

The dictionary definition seems a little harsh, so let s fix that. Culture. Something that we are all born into, one that we can t escape, but it doesn t define who we are as a person most of the time. You can t just look at somebody, somebody who might be Japanese for example, and just blatantly expect that person to become the next doctor or lawyer. Just because a cultureis well known or stereotypically seen to be something, doesn t mean the individual bearing that culture has to live up to those standards. That Japanese person could want to be the next New York Best Selling author or just a mere teacher because that s what interests them. Nobody s future is set in stone the second they come into the world, nor does it come easy as their lives go on. Sure, culture has some helping guidelines to what they should do in their lives, maybe it be the habits or nature of Japanese parents always pushing you to do your best, or it s just the different cultures of a family. Sometimes there are people born into two or more cultures, and they have to come to the conclusion that they can be any amount of any culture they want. Just because you re born in America but come from a long line of Mexicans doesn t mean you can t be both. Ok yes, sometimes it s hard to fit in with both cultures because both cultures see you as the other, but it s not their choice to define who you are and what you believe in. It s your job to come to that conclusion on your own and you must make that decision that you are proud of. Sometimes people can be cruel, judging you based on looks rather than personality or morals, but it s just the way of life. How you choose to handle that as time goes on is the only thing that matters. No matter what the case, culture still plays a minor role in the scripting of your life but remember, you re the author with the pen. You are in charge of writing your life story. Nobody else. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I plan to consider life span development to specialize in counseling a specific type of person with hopes of becoming well versed, and therefore more helpful, in the types of experiences that group faces. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Author Judith Harris theorizes that heredity and peer environment are the sole factors in a person s development, and therefore parents have no affect on the development of their children. The life span perspective should probably make room for familial environment: family of origin and family of choice. Assuming Harris is correct, a life span approach to counseling will allow that children and spouses do influence an adult s development. Environmental factors on a micro level feature the nuclear family; macro level factors can include social mores, regional cultural norms, and even national identity. Santrock points out that each of these factors influences our understanding of children and adults and informs our decisions as a society about how they should be treated (2006, p. 9). A counselor can guide a person to examining the correlation between environment and societal attitudes, and then the impact on his or her own development. Providing a social support such as counseling from a life span perspective must include physical context. Age is an obvious, but significant, biological concern. Erikson s theory of development defines periods throughout our lives by eight common crises. The stages continue until death, although each stage has an optimal time (Boeree, 1997, par. 27). Familiarity with each stage s crisis is the foundation of counseling from a life span development perspective. Focusing on one stage s crisis

The mountain ranges around the perimeter of the basin were formed 24 million years ago by the rise and fall of the earth s crust due to the movement of faults. The Carson Range to the east was created by tilt block faulting and resulted in a very steep mountain range (tahoeadventuresports.com). Another fault created the Sierra Nevada range to the west, but is more of a gentle change in elevation. As the fault blocks were thrown up, the high peaks of the mountain ranges were created and as other fault blocks were thrown down, a valley was created. Some of the peaks of the ranges can reach over 10,000 feet above sea level, making an exaggerated difference between the lake and the ranges. Movement of other faults in the area caused the valley to sink thousands of feet below the mountains on the east and west. Volcanic activity from Mt. Pluto on the north shore resulted in lava flowing and blocking the outlet of the newly developing valley. About 3 million years ago the ice age created glaciers in the Sierra Nevada. As they moved and scoured the land, lakes were created behind them as piles of granite rock were left to block the outflow of water from melted snow and rainfall. Hamlet s disgust at the feminine passivity in himself is translated into violent revulsion against women, and into his brutal behaviour towards Ophelia. Ophelia s suicide, Leverenz argues, then becomes a microcosm of the male world s banishment of the female, because woman represents everything denied by reasonable men. To liberate Ophelia from the text, or to make her its tragic center, is to re appropriate her for our own ends; to dissolve her into a female symbolism of absence is to endorse our own marginality; to make her Hamlet s anima is to reduce her to a metaphor of male experience. I would like to propose instead that Ophelia does have a story of her own that feminist criticism can tell; it is neither her life story, nor her love story, nor Lacan s story, but rather the history of her representation. • 37. How Did Latin America Change Over Time Latin America has a long and complex history. From the early 1500s to 1888 there have been many political changes (foreign control, political ideology, slavery) and some continuities (central control), but the changes have had a greater effect because independent nations were able to establish themselves and form their own governments. Globally, the European Industrial Revolution was taking place which allowed for a political advantage because the new technologies could give the European governments stronger control over their colonies. The end of foreign control over various territories in Latin America has been a major change in this region s history. For many decades the colony of Saint Domingue was under French control and used to produce various agricultural products. It was home to over a half million slaves that worked on the 8,000 sugar and coffee plantations. This changed when in the late 18th century a slave revolution took place led by the former slave Toussaint L ouverture. By the end of the revolt French rule had been ended and the newly named Haiti had become independent. This ending of foreign control was stimulated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Originally the political ideology held by European government leaders was conservative and authoritarian. This was because the European governments that exercised control over the colonies feared the possibility of revolution and wanted the colonies to stay under their control. This changed as new political leaders such as Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin gained support from the general population. These revolutionary leaders held ideas inspired by the enlightenment ideas from Europe. The liberal ideas held by Spanish revolutionary leaders were an important change because they helped to motivate working class people to engage in governmental reform. These ideas became more mainstream once independence from the colonizers was

  • 39. The Life Of Contemplation Is The Best Life In the Book X of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle concludes that a life of contemplation is the best and happiest life for both gods and humans. According to Aristotle, the life of reason and contemplation will be the happiest because it is the highest form of activity. The life of contemplation as considered by Aristotle, is the best life because it is a characteristic of how the gods lived their own life. Aristotle explained this statement in details when he states that the life of contemplation is more Godlike. These arguments are valid and also sound because he believes the life of contemplation to be the best life because it is Godlike. And since it is Godlike it can be considered the best life. This is therefore sound because what is considered good by the gods is good for us. Before dwelling into Aristotle contemplative life, the link between pleasure and virtue must be made first in order to understand his ideas about contemplative life. The link between pleasure and virtue must be recognized first. When we consider Aristotle s conception of happiness, it is important that we stress that it involves activity of soul in accordance with virtue, since virtue, on its own, isn t enough to make a life good. We can t act virtuously without being virtuous, but it is possible to be virtuous without acting virtuously (Jackman 2017 ). As stated above, Aristotle considers virtue to be associated with the soul rather the body. Furthermore, he explained this in details when he talked about the vegetative soul, the appetitive soul and lastly the reasoning soul. The vegetative soul according to him is not rational but a characteristics of all living creatures. The appetitive soul is also irrational but can reason in a way vegetative can t. The reasoning soul according to him is not shared with other animals but are moral virtues like courage (Jackman 2017). As stated above, reasoning (reasoning soul) is the only thing that distinguishes humans from other animals. Therefore reasoning is the function of humans since it involves moral virtues. As was stated by Nozick, there are certain lives we would reject even if it involves more pleasure. In relation to Nozick, Aristotle believes there are things we would

Gun safety was brought to attention when more kids started killed themselves from the gun not being kept safe. This could involve someone you know and could resolve in their death. Guns need to be in a safe away from children. Children under age 12 die from gun accidents in the U.S. about once a week, on average (Martelle). Lewis was a strong Christian man, and wanted to make children see and understand all the stories of the Bible. Therefore, he put Christian elements through his books, but with fantasy characters as well. Especially in this story, Lewis conveys the differences between good and evil. Aslanis represented as Christ just as the White Witchrepresents the sense of evil. There were also ogres with huge teeth, wolves, and bull headed men along with evil trees, and poisonous plants. Some creatures could be described in length for the sake of the readers (Lewis 151). Later on, one child s disloyalty to his siblings becomes a huge problem. Aslan decides to risk his own life for the boy. All in all, good overthrows evil, and the children become kings and queens of Narnia in the end (Langford). Aslan proclaims: Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen. Bear it well, Sons of Adam! Bear it well, Daughters of Eve! (Lewis 182). The point for Lewis to write these books was as an effort to tell children the Christian stories. He makes examples in chronological order starting with the beginning of time, moves to the death and life of Christ, and finally the end of the world. For most people in this time, when they heard about God or Christianity, they did not want to listen. Instead of giving children ordinary Bible stories, he wrote adventures. He wanted them to learn and believe, as he did, that Christianity would always be there. He filled the books with fictional animals, and

Obviously the lower limit of the fair wage is the minimum wage and the upper limit is set by the ability of the industry to pay. Between these two limits, fair wages should depend on the factors like 1. Prevailing rates of wages in the same occupation 2. Prevailing rates of wages in the same region or neighbouring areas 3. Employers ability to pay 4. Level of national income and its distribution 5. Productivity of labour 6. Status enjoyed by the industry in the economy Hence it can be said that fair wages are determined on industry cum region basis. When fair wages are paid employees enjoy higher standard of living. It is accepted fact that wages must be fair and reasonable. Wages is fair when the employee is able to meet its essential needs and enjoy reasonable standard of living. Equal pay for equal work serves as base of fair wage [4]. 1.3 FACTORS INFLUENCING WAGE AND SALARY STRUCTURE [5] The organization s ability to pay: Wage increases should be given by those organizations which can afford them.
