Why I Become A Naturopathic Physician
I want to become a Naturopathic Physician because I wish to help people choose how to be
healthy. Growing up, I dealt with several health problems, one of which I was able to manage with
ibuprofen, but I desired a solution instead of a temporary fix. As a result, I sought the help of my
conventional physician. Instead of working to discover the root of the problem, she simply
prescribed a stronger pain reliever. I then turned to a Naturopathic Physician, because many of my
friends were suggesting that I look into that profession. Thankfully, my Naturopathic Physician and
I discovered that daily supplements would control my major health problem, and we found
solutions to my more trivial problems. The experience taught me that when... Show more content on

From a young age, I wanted to be a conventional physician, but as I grew older, I became more
disillusioned with our current medical system. As I became more disillusioned, I was more drawn
to the naturopathic field and the opportunities it presented to treat problems naturally. In addition, I
felt that the naturopathic field offered more personalized care to the patient as they struggled with
their different health problems. The way that conventional medicine practices tries to treat as many
patients as possible in the shortest amount of time. The field seems not to respect the patient as a
person, and I feel like every person should experience a favorable level of respect when interacting
with medical professionals. In addition, I feel that patients should know that their doctor cares for
them and their health, and that is difficult to convey in a 15 minute appointment, especially when
compared with a 45 minute appointment. As a Naturopathic Physician, I feel that I will be able to
provide my patients with the care that they deserve.
The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Program at National vigorously prepares students for life as
Naturopathic Physician in the alternative medicine field. One unique way that National prepares
students is through its integrated classrooms. This integration of students from different programs
in the same course allows the students to interact and make connections with other students.

Visual Illusions Are A Phenomena That Arise From...
Visual illusions are a phenomena that arise from misperception of the observed object s
properties. Visual illusions allow us to study the difference between the objective reality and our
interpretation of the perceived visual stimuli or the way our brains process visual information, in
order to develop a general understanding of our visual system (Carrasco, 1986); In spite of the
relevance of this issue, general concensus is yet to be reached on the origin of such phenomena
One representation is the Muller Lyer (1889) Illusion (MLI), a geometric size illusion classically
represented by modified perception of the length of a line, influenced by arrowheads or arrowtails
on its endpoints (Zeman et al, 2014). The MLI has been widely used attempting to explain the
underlying mechanism behind geometrical illusions; Gregory (1966) attributed the illusion to the
misapplied size constancy scaling influenced by depth cues; Carrasco (1986), argued that visual
channels are orientation and spatial frequency specific after presenting the MLI to eight participants
and observing a reduction on the illusion after exposure to a low spatial frequency grid. Although
evidence questioning this claim has been presented in many studies (Carlson, Moeller, Anderson,
1984) (GarcГa Garibay De Lafuente, 2015) (Zeman et al, 2014) (Zeman A. , Obst, Brooks, Rich,
2013) where the illusion persists in images absent of low spatial frequencies and has been assessed
with the latest technology.

The Universe Next Door Summary
We as human beings consciously and unconsciously take variables from our own lives to come
up with our own definition of a worldview. We make life decisions based on our morals and
values that we have put into place because of our views. These views are not always necessarily
permanent but always evolving. As we grow older, wiser, and have more life experiences one
often re evaluates the hard questions that helped their worldview evolve. During the seventeenth
century, there were two essentially Christian worldviews, theism and deism. In the book, The
Universe Next Door, by James W. Sire he talks about both theism and deism and explains their
similarities and differences through a series of worldview questions. According to Sire, a theistic...

Sire believed that one factor which led to the development of deism was, a change in the
location of the authority of knowledge about the divine; it shifted from the revelation found in
scripture to the presence of reason (2009, p. 48). There are several propositions that offer some
insight into the worldview of a deist. One states, Human beings, though personal, are part of the
clockwork of the universe (Sire, 2009, p. 52). Deists recognize that humans have intelligence, a
sense of morality, a capacity for community and creativity. But, none of these, while built into us
as created beings, in grounded in God s character (Sire, 2009, p. 53). Another proposition states,
Ethics is intuitive or limited to general revelation; because the universe is normal, it reveals what
is right (Sire, 2009, p. 56). Deism s ethics, in general, is founded on the notion that built into
human nature is the capacity to sense the difference between good and evil (Sire, 2009, p. 56).
Many deists believe that the universe is in a normal state and there was never the fall of man.
Popular deism is popular in two senses. It is both a simple, easy going belief in the existence of an
omnipotent, impersonal, transcendent being, a force of intelligence, and it is a vague belief held by

John Knowles s A Separate Peace
In the first few chapters of A Separate Peace alone, Gene Forrester is John Knowles. In the first
chapter, Gene is a grown man fifteen years in the future. He describes Devon School in the
summer session in 1942. Devon School is rarely mentioned in the book. In A Separate Peace:
The War Within the chronology states that in 1943, a year older than the book, he too went to a
summer session at Exeter Academy (Bryant, xi). Knowles, too had a tree that he and other boys
jumped off of, but he broke his foot and had to be on crutches (Bryant, xi). This book is a rough
autobiography of his life. Gene and the author John Knowleswill be explained as WWII in their
eyes, the symbolism of Phineas, and the school and the older Gene. In A Separate Peace, the
summer session is for seniors who are training for the war. Gene and Phineas are sixteen and not
eligible for the draft. As the book states, they jump off the tree used for diving in the river. Gene
says in the book The tree was tremendous, an irate, steely black steeple beside the river. I d be
damned if I climbed it (Knowles, 14). Similar to the book, Knowles probably thought the same
thing after he broke his foot.
In The War Within, Bryant states that A Separate Peace can be read as a war book. With this in
mind, it was only about two boys who were not of drafting age, but one to two years before it. In
the summer session, the teachers are a little less strict, but only to the boys under eighteen. Even
then, the boys

Love in To His Coy Mistress and The Flea Essay
Love in To His Coy Mistress and The Flea
Both To His Coy Mistress , by Andrew Marvell (1621 1678) and The Flea , by John Donne (1572
1631) present different attitudes to love. Both are also structured very differently and occasionally
use contrasting imagery. Each poem was written in the 17th century, just after the Renaissance. The
poets were metaphysical poets. Although the metaphysic was originally a derogatory term,
metaphysical poetry used intellectual and theological concepts in an ingenious way.
Metaphysical poetry was partly written in rebellion against the highly conventional Elizabethan
love poetry just prior to the time. Conventional love poetry what one would generally expect of a ...

Also, as their bloods are already mingled (L.4) in the flea, her virginity is not immensely valuable.
This links with the 17th century idea that women became pregnant when the blood of the man
mixed with her blood during sexual intercourse.В№
In contrast, Marvell s use of imagery is more complex, in a way, as he uses many different
concepts to persuade. However, like the image of the flea, the image of worms that will try (L.27)
the Coy Mistress in death is very unconventional. It presents the attitude that the act of love is
completely necessary in a relationship. The phallic imagery is used in a threatening way as worms
are generally associated with earth and tombs, which corresponds to the idea of death.
The notion of time is used as the basis for the argument in To his Coy Mistress . Marvell
manipulates the idea of time in different ways. In the first stage of the poem he uses time, as he
flatters the Coy Mistress, to suggest that love is a timeless pleasure, and that even thirty thousand
(L.16) years would not be enough time to adore her.
In the second part of his argument, however, Marvell changes the tone to one of urgency as the
speaker frightens the Coy Mistress and threatens that his lust will be into ashes (L.30) in death. He
incorporates death imagery with time in a rather sinister way,

Ethical Issues In Omelas By Ursula Le Guin
The story of Omelas presented by Ursula Le Guin provides a simple, yet profound ethical
question. Is the misery of one person worth the ultimate happiness for everyone else? The story
of Omelas describes a city in which there is no guilt. The citizens enjoy life to its fullest,
partaking in pleasures without consequences and not dealing with complex social issues that are
burdensome in other places. There are few laws, no kings, no slaves, and the luxuries in life exist,
as long as they do not cause destruction. On the day of the story, Le Guin describes a summer
festival in which children race horses and everyone frolics through the streets merrily. Anything one
could desire exists in Omelas, even drugs and sex, all without guilt.... Show more content on

The author describes the arrangement in which the citizens of Omelas have made in exchange
for their city of sublime existence. With whom the agreement is made is irrelevant, but the
terms create the deep ethical dilemma. Within the city, in a basement, there lives a child. The
child is ten years old, and is described as malnourished, underdeveloped, and scared. The child is
in a closet, with dirt floors, and is fed a small amount of cornmeal and water every day. People
come into the closet occasionally, but never speak to the child, as is a strict term of the
agreement. This is the arrangement that allows Omelas to exist in the manner it does. This child
seemingly bears the entire burden of misery for every other citizen in the city. The child is not a
secret. Every citizen upon reaching a certain age is made aware of the child, and because of this,
they are able to achieve the level of happiness, and appreciation for their own lives. The justify the
existence of the child by convincing themselves that the child could never really be happy anyway,
even if they were to release it from the

Amin In Uganda Research Paper
Idi Amin rose to power in 1971 through a violent military coup. Amin and his army successfully
overthrew Uganda s former president Milton Obote with the foreign aid from both the British
and Israeli Government. From the British Amin received aid through large amounts of money
being sent to his personal bank account and from the Israelis he received arms. Amin s success at
gaining and holding power was largely based on foreign assistance. Amin s regime survived as
long as it did in part because it always found one or another imperialist power to patronise it (Fall
of Idi Amin1). Alone, Amin would never of had enough resources or internal support to retain
power because of both external and internal resistance. This resistance came from the... Show more

The economic embargo that was instituted as well as the negative perception around Amin
caused Uganda to fail economically and to have no foreign powers want to help because they
did not want to be seen as supporting a cruel leader. Amin s brutal regime caused countries to
look down at Uganda as a place that was uncivilized and that was not worth any ones time.
Through all Amin s missteps and failures his inability to run a successful country without
foreign support was his biggest weakness. He was not able to have good relations with countries
either because of rash decisions which offended those countries or because of bad public image
led to a country to weak to sustain itself. Amin s final attack on Tanzania was a failure and he
was forced to leave Uganda and seek refuge in Saudi Arabia for the rest of his life. In the span of
eight years, Amin had devastated Uganda. The economy was in ruins, foreign trade had dried up,
and the country had fallen into a state of lawlessness and brutality (Idi Amin 1). The rule of Idi

J. B Priestley s Use Of Dramatic Irony In An Inspector Calls
J B Priestley uses a variety of theatrical and literary devices such as dramatic irony in this play to
present the characters to the audiences in a way that shows they are often deluded or false. The
play was set in 1912 but was not written and performed until after World War Two. Priestley s
intention was to make the point that everyone has social responsibilities and that they should
fulfil them too. J.B Priestley presents the Inspector as an unusual figure who is a catalyst on
stage, eliciting changes in the other characters. The Inspector enters during Birling s speech
where he is at his most arrogant. For example, in Act One the characters say I ve learnt in the
good hard school of experience and Everybody has to look after themselves . In lines such as
these, Mr Birling is portrayed as a self Confident and opinionated character to the audience.

to others. Therefore, he is more important than the other members of... Show more content on

How To Make The Panama Canal
The Panama Canal in my opinion one of the greatest man made canal in the history of the world.
The french attempted to make the canal but failed. In the year 1904 President Theodore
Roosevelt pressured Columbia to declare Panama independent. Theodore did not care about the
panamanians he cared about the land. Panama is an isthmus, an isthmus is a piece of land
connecting two large land masses such as North and South America. People have been dreaming
of connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean for hundreds of years. John Findley Wallace
resigned so President Theodore gave the job to someone else John Frank Stevens. Stevens had
an idea instead of digging out the mountain they would build steps to get over it. They used
railroads to move dirt, supplies, and machines. It took a while, however they used dams to block
water, made artificial lakes so the boats could get across, gravity to fill the locks, and make locks.
Locks are like steps, you fill it with water, open up the gates and keep getting higher. The Panama

Argumentative Essay On Foreign Aid
Introduction
Most people feel obligated to assist others in need. In major crises like natural disasters, wars,
medical outbreaks, and the struggling economies of the developing world, many citizens of
developed countries believe it is morally right to provide assistance in situations like these, in
response to being more fortunate. However according to Mark Goldberg, an editor of the United
Nations and global affairs blog UN Dispatch and host of the Global Dispatches Podcast,
discusses the truth behind foreign aid. He reveals that foreign support is an issue that is widely
misunderstood by the general public, and is one of the most complicated subjects. Foreign policy
has been under a huge debate and there is an obvious need for reformation, for it lacks clear
leadership and strategic planning. In fact political leaders are very skeptic about foreign policy,
and often find ways to push it back. What the citizens of first world should be inquiring, is foreign
aid actually what we think it is, or are the internal reasons of the politics reshaping its truth?
History of foreign aid, why is it what it is
Imperialism is policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or military
force. During the 19th century when countries like Germany, France, and Britain were providing
regular welfare assistance to their colonies in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The support was used

The Causes Of Student Stress In Education
It is often said that college students of the current generation exhibit some of the highest recorded
stress levels. There are many theories as to why these stress levels continue to rise. Perhaps the
main reason behind this rising stress is the fact that society is choosing to acknowledge its
existence, thus making the terminology more commonly known and revealing its detrimental
effects the to the public. The purpose of this paper is to analyze what has changed over the years in
regards to education, what seem to be common stressors among students, how these students
learning mechanisms are affected, and how America can work to prevent academic stress.
An important topic to investigate in regards to stress levels includes that of differences between
generations. More specifically, it is important to analyze what has changed over the years; in doing
so, new findings as to why student stress levels are rising may be discovered. One example of a
change is simply the number of students choosing to enroll in college. Almost every year, college
admissions are increasing, mainly because it is becoming universally accepted to go to college and
attain a degree. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Enrollment in degree
granting institutions increased by 11 percent from 1991 to 2001 and another 32 percent from 2001
to 2011 (Novotney, 2014). With more students enrolling in college, there will consequentially be
more students reporting feelings of stress and

Characteristics Of Identical Twins
In our opinion, twins reared in different conditions will display some of the same traits. However, it
depends on certain aspects as well. To start off, Twin studies are a significant tool to investigate the
nature versus nurture argument. Identical twins, or monozygotic twins, are siblings that have the
exact same genotypes whereas fraternal twins are dizygotic twins that only share half of their genes
together. Fraternal twins are similar to siblings, except they have of the exact age. As Plomin,
DeFries, McClearn, and Rutter (1997) stated that if one twinhas dark hair, then the other twin has
dark hair as well; where the concept of identical genes would ideally distribute itself towards the
phenotypes of behavior and personality of identical twins .

Parents who dress their twins up in the same outfits or get them the same set of toys does not
contribute to twins who have the same traits. It shows that a common environment does not give
much impact in developing personalities. Mischel (1981) has also attested to this issue saying that
genes and glands are different, but social learning plays a dramatic role. People develop vast
differences through the stimuli they face in their daily life. Despite being reared in the same
environment (their home), both twins could have had different sets of friends. Thus, going through
their school years having different experiences and facing different challenges. As a whole they will
have completely different hobbies and interests.
Hence, we think that twins will display the same trait even though they were brought up in different
environments because traits have more to do with genetics rather than environment. Which is why
identical twins are more similar when compared to fraternal twins despite both being reared apart.
This is due to the higher similarity in genetic makeup for identical twins when compared to fraternal

Management Control System Essay
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this case study is to describe and analyse the features of the
management control system (MCS) of University of Southern California (USC). Before
commencing the analysis a brief background of USC is provided. The USC, located in Los
Angeles, was established in 1880 as a private research institution. The university s academic and
administrative programs are led by the president s cabinet, which is comprised of a provost and
senior vice president for academic affairs, senior vice president for finance and chief financial
officer, senior vice president for administration, senior vice president for university relations, and

However, according to Dennis Dougherty, the allocations followed the thumbnail methods which
were too brief even though inaccuracies were removed while using them (Merchant amp; Van der
Stede 2007). In order to gain control over the allocation of resources throughout the university and
also to balance the monies being distributed amongst the revenue centres a system of participation
/subvention was used by the university administrators. These participations were mere equal
contributions (20% of the total tuition fees, sales and service income, and indirect cost recoveries)
from all revenue centres and were redistributed back to them as block grants called subventions and
these participations were portrayed as negative and subventions as positive indirect income. These
features in fact enabled university administrators to focus on university priorities and goals. In
allocating subventions their main focus was firstly on differentials in the costs of educating
students in different fields and secondly, the revenue centres cost/quality ratios. There was a
variation in the cost of educating students from one school to another, for example, business
education is cheaper than the music education but the university tends to charge the same tuition
fees to both of them. To balance this cost disparity the subvention allocation was used. There was
also an issue with the cost/academic excellence ratios. A school that has

When Working At Surf Pacific Essay
1. One of our values is We are on time, every time . Please give an example of a time where you

adhere to. A few of them were unrealistic. I had strived to compete all the deadlines given to me.
One time I had to edit one project that had over five hours of raw footage and after completing
the project there were around thirty fully edited and animated videos. I would come to work at
7am and leave at 5pm to complete as much as humanly possible. I was very close to missing my
deadline. I had put in extra hours and it paid off. After eight days of pure hard work, I had
completed all the videos and sent them off to the client, the feedback I received was
overwhelmingly positive o the quality of the videos. I may have not been as fast as they wanted
me to be, but I made damn sure my videos were of the highest quality with no errors. 2. Another

Australians had ideas that the white are superior, and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
should be assimilated to the white culture. Because of such circumstances, the legislative removal
of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their family and community has happened,
and it has been significant in Australian history. This essay will argue that Aboriginal and Torres

Such legislations which have been mentioned above ostensibly aimed to provide better
protection and cares for the Aboriginal children. In fact, children who were subjects of the

Aboriginal families thought as an acceptable living standards from white standards were often
removed their children (Beresford Omaji 1998, p. 62). Thus, in one sense, those Acts seemingly
protected the Aboriginal children by removing them from their parents. However, applying
removed children s evidences cited above to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
(UNDRIP) document, the legislations seem having caused the human rights violations of the
Aboriginal children. For example, the discrimination from white adoption mother because of skin
colour (CS 82) can be violation on the article 2, the right to free from any kind of discrimination
(UNDRIP p. 4). Also, sexual abuse in the orphanage and foster homes (CE 528) can be violation
on the article 7, the right the rights to life, physical and mental integrity, liberty and security of

Race And Class, Race, And Race
This article discusses the thought and preconceived notions that race is the major determining
factor of the health outcomes of persons living in Baltimore, an urban area. However, what was
found is that the place matters. Furthermore, what I was able to understand in greater depth is that
there are deeply rooted racial issues in the United Statesof America despite the legislation that has
been passed to eliminate such issues. In addition, what I was able to dissipate was that the
researchers were not able to determine which was more important or prevalent, raceor place in
seeking to accomplish health equity.
In addition, the controversy was is it race and class or race or class . My conclusion is that it is both.
Race is unfortunately reflective of where you live. Despite, the Fair Discrimination Act of 1964 and
several laws both state and federal to prevent discrimination in housing it still exists. Housing
discrimination affects ones access to activities that can decrease chronic illnesses and the access to
good healthcare. I have some thoughts concerning this statement Racial segregation creates
different exposures to economic opportunity and to other community resources that enhance health
. The reason I have questions about this statement is because in the Jim Crow era until the late
1960 s there were several communities of segregated Black populations that did very well
economically. For example, Sweet Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia and Black Wall Street

Dialectical materialism is the view that that the world exists independently of our perception of it
and that as it is sole reality it has primacy over the ideal, the imagined, and the spiritual.
In the film Pulp Fiction, by Quentin Tarantinothe theme of capitalism was truly apparent, from the
discussion of the Big Mac in France by Jules and Vince to the success of the gang boss
Marsellus. It is relatively evident that it played a big part in making the film especially where
other more obvious displays of greed and capitalism are in the final scenes when the couple,
Honey Bunny and Pumpkin, holds up the restaurant. The man explains to his wife that nobody
ever thinks to rob a coffee shop and he makes the point that it is the perfect crime of opportunity.
All of the primary and characters and protagonists display materialistic personas, attempting to
recreate their own past and future by means of consumption and a form of class struggle against
the gang leader, portraying a land owner or bourgeoisie, by the workers .
Postmodernism is a term which is highly contested in the sociological world, where it is used to
indicate a significant detachment from modernism. It is easier to give the uses of the term; to give
a name to the present historical period, to name a specific style in arts and architecture and to name
a point of rupture or disjuncture in epistemology (Buchanan, 2010). For this,

Fuzzy Systems Essay
Preface
This article is written for an intended audience of undergraduate or graduate students, this article
provides an introduction to, and an overview of what fuzzy systems are. Presented in this article is
an acknowledgment of the contributions that fuzzy systems are making to the Artificial Intelligence
discipline, as well as examples of fuzzy systems which are in use today.
Abstract
The concept and implementation of fuzzy systems is part of the natural course of evolution for
humans who are a part of a society where access to information is plentiful but efficient utilization
of massive amounts of information is power. To get at the information, we need systems which can

The origin of fuzzy systems can be traced to the first introduction of formal logic by Aristotle.
Logic introduced by Aristotle was considered to be bilevel logic of either true or false, and is
acknowledged to be the foundation of most of the growth of the sciences which are known
today.[1] However, it was Plato who is accredited with laying the actual foundations for fuzzy logic
when he proposed that there exists a third area beyond true and false where things were not always
true or always false.[3]
Digital computers in use today are based upon the ideas of Aristotle, where a single bit of
information found in a computer is considered either true or false, that the transistor gate is either
turned on or off. Many fundamental aspects of society today are based upon concepts of right or
wrong, innocent or guilty, a member of a group or not a member of some group.
The human race has toyed with and enjoyed the concept of a perfect society, where everything
was easily classified into good or bad, right or wrong, true or false and has created computers to
respond to that type of idealistic and simplistic world. This philosophy has served the human race
well as computers were created to operate in very predictable ways that were

A Girl Fell Off The Fourteenth Floor !
A girl fell off the fourteenth floor! was the response I got when I inquired about the multiple
ambulances outside my dorm at the beginning of sophomore year. The truth of what happened
was much more unsettling. Instead of an accident, the girl, Jenny, had actually jumped from her
dorm window, leaving behind a note saying ending her life was the only way she saw to
stopping her pain. I had known Jenny briefly when she was my Orientation Leader. By all
accounts she was a cheerful girl who lights up any room she enters. Her friends and family all
expressed shock and disbelief there was no warning, no signs at all she was struggling or suffering.
In midst of an outpouring of empathy from the studentbody, many students admitted that they also

best friend resorting to self harming when the pressure of college application became too much to

merely told her depression is not real. Their biggest concern about her cutting was that no one
should find out. Even educated parents like mine do not view depression as a real illness the same
way they view diabetes or cancer. Having watched many friends struggle with mental illness, I have

Sacraments As A Critical Part Of The Catholic Faith
Sacraments Sacraments are a critical part of the foundation of the catholic faith, but where did the
sacraments originate? Our faith comes from the preachings of Jesus but he never specifically
described the sacraments and how to perform them. There are seven sacraments in the catholic
church and three initiation sacraments, which must be completed in order to be a full member of
the church. These sacraments when completed together allow you t become one in God, but where
do the sacraments draw their power and how?
The first recorded baptism was performed by John the Baptist. John the Baptist is Jesus cousin and
was deemed the preparer for his cousin. John was called to prepare for the coming of the lord
and the kingdom of God as well warn people for their ultimate judgement. John called on his
followers to repent and make ready their hearts for the Lord, this was accomplished through
baptism. John would immerse his follower in the river Jordan; however, in order for the
sacrament to have validity multiple essential things must first be accomplished. John s followers
must have complete faith in his message of the Messiah; they must also recognize that this was a
sacrament of repentance that must lead to change. Confession was also a necessary part of John s
baptism and ultimately repentance and the forgiveness of sin. Through this process, one is able to
be renewed in the Lord and be prepared for the arrival of the Messiah and their final judgement. For

Magnet Schools Vs Charter Schools Essay
Public education has seen new advancements in the past two decades caused by the rapid growth of
the school choice policy. The two alternatives to the traditional public education that will be
discussed are the charter schools and magnet schools.
Charter schools are supposed to contribute to school innovation and reform by their combination of
freedom and accountability (Innovations in Education: Successful Charter Schools 2004, 1). Those
that support charter schools hope that due to their independence they will be able to spark
innovative reforms, promote competition within the public school sector and provide new options
to families (Finn, Manno, Vanourek, 2000; Nathan 1998a; 1998b). Then those on the opposite end
of the spectrum, argue that charter schools and greater choice within the public sector may cause
further racial segregation and cause economical strains for not only states but school districts; all

Psychology, also, helped with the understanding of why there was a certain type of person that
would end up in the system. Judicial processes were another class that was able to provide a
better understanding of how the courts worked in their variety of aspects of law enforcement.
After taking judicial process, I learned the criminal justice system is not a perfect system. There
are many flaws in the system, which are, sadly, unchangeable. As we would all like to think there
is justice for all, with the safeguards to life and liberty, it is not always the case; many people who
are read their Maranda rights, who are supposed to be innocent until

How Did Marie Antoinette Have A Failing Economy
Infamous queen Marie Antoinette is said to be a very misunderstood girl in history (Covington).
Marie enjoyed a life of luxury, as did many other queens did in history. But during her reign, the
country of France had a failing economy. In any country if the economy is good, people generally
believe that their leaders are great, but if the economy is bad then that s when the people starts
turning against their leaders. That poor economy that France faced had to be blamed on someone,
which were blamed on Marie Antoinette. Marie Antoinette s love of fashion has gotten her killed,
but her love has kept her alive in the world of fashion.
Marie Antoinette was the 15th child to Empress Maria Theresa of Austria and Holy Roman
Emperor Francis 1 (Castelot).

The Siege Of Jerusalem
The Siege of Jerusalem has been incongruously regarded as anything from a chocolate covered
tarantula (Hanna 109) to a work of moderation (Narin Van Court 169). While these opinions
greatly differ and are in immediate conflict with each other, there is no doubt from any critic that
an important piece to the study of Siege is discussion of its treatment of Jews. Whether the poem
is intended as an allegory for the crusades, or at its heart a piece of anti Semitic literature as many
suspect, there is a need to grapple with the portrayal of the Jews. In our daily lives, the connotation
of objectification is often negative, but the portrayal of the Jews in The Siege of Jerusalem as
objects is a surprisingly positive posthumanistic one. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is a common theme throughout the poem and much of crusades era literature, but in this
passage, more of interest is going on. Titus commits his violent deed, and the positive language
denoting that he brings down the best... unhorses the mightiest rewards him for it. What is more
significant, however, is that his sword is also highly regarded within this passage. This sword is
categorized as having more agency than the human it kills within this moment, claiming the spot
in the hierarchy below the Roman who wields it, but above the human it kills, seemingly taking
on a life of its own. The sword is given the descriptor bright, which has positive connotations
associated with righteousness, with beauty, with strength whereas the Jew it murders does not
even get a pronoun in front of brain and blood, described only as one. The use of one, instead of a
name or even a gender, supports the binary and the opinion that the Jews were a faceless people in
this narrative, counted as numbers instead of humans by the

What Does The Room Symbolize In The Raven
The Raven is defined as a narrative poem by the popular American author Edgar Allen Poe. The
poem is praised for its paranormal atmosphere, formalized language, and musicality. It outlines the
mysterious rendezvous conducted between a man and a talking raven, which gradually trace s the
man into a state of insanity. The Raventells the tale of a man who has recently lost his lover,
Lenore. To help cope with this loss, he sits secluded in his study, becoming a loner as he reads
various books in an attempt to distract himself from the reality of the situation at hand. In the
middle of the night, suddenly there came a tapping...as of someone gently rapping, rapping at [his]
chamber door (Poe 1205). Upon investigation, the narrator discovers... Show more content on

Readers can relate and connect to this story because it allows for them to follow the journey of a
person that is submitted to drastic life changes, changes that the readers themselves may also be
struggling with. Poe uses several different symbols to to take the poem to a larger scale. The
chamber in which the speaker is located throughout the tale signifies the loneliness of the man,
and the sorrow that he is encompassed with for the loss of his love, Lenore. The room is
furnished and helps to remind the speaker of his lost lover, generating an implementation of
beauty. The symbolism that resides within the phrase that is repeated by the raven explains that
not only has the speaker lost his lover, but he will nevermore be the same person he was
previously. The tone of The Raven is dark and melancholic, and represents Poe s own
introvertedness. Poe aspired to use the melancholy topic of the death of a beautiful woman, which
he was in love with. The tone exhibits a painful and vulnerable state of mind that is driven to
madness. The overall tone is despairing, which connects to the central meaning/idea that the
narrator s life will never be the same without

  • 2. Why I Become A Naturopathic Physician I want to become a Naturopathic Physician because I wish to help people choose how to be healthy. Growing up, I dealt with several health problems, one of which I was able to manage with ibuprofen, but I desired a solution instead of a temporary fix. As a result, I sought the help of my conventional physician. Instead of working to discover the root of the problem, she simply prescribed a stronger pain reliever. I then turned to a Naturopathic Physician, because many of my friends were suggesting that I look into that profession. Thankfully, my Naturopathic Physician and I discovered that daily supplements would control my major health problem, and we found solutions to my more trivial problems. The experience taught me that when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From a young age, I wanted to be a conventional physician, but as I grew older, I became more disillusioned with our current medical system. As I became more disillusioned, I was more drawn to the naturopathic field and the opportunities it presented to treat problems naturally. In addition, I felt that the naturopathic field offered more personalized care to the patient as they struggled with their different health problems. The way that conventional medicine practices tries to treat as many patients as possible in the shortest amount of time. The field seems not to respect the patient as a person, and I feel like every person should experience a favorable level of respect when interacting with medical professionals. In addition, I feel that patients should know that their doctor cares for them and their health, and that is difficult to convey in a 15 minute appointment, especially when compared with a 45 minute appointment. As a Naturopathic Physician, I feel that I will be able to provide my patients with the care that they deserve. The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Program at National vigorously prepares students for life as Naturopathic Physician in the alternative medicine field. One unique way that National prepares students is through its integrated classrooms. This integration of students from different programs in the same course allows the students to interact and make connections with other students. Creating connections is ... Visual illusions allow us to study the difference between the objective reality and our interpretation of the perceived visual stimuli or the way our brains process visual information, in order to develop a general understanding of our visual system (Carrasco, 1986); In spite of the relevance of this issue, general concensus is yet to be reached on the origin of such phenomena One representation is the Muller Lyer (1889) Illusion (MLI), a geometric size illusion classically represented by modified perception of the length of a line, influenced by arrowheads or arrowtails on its endpoints (Zeman et al, 2014). The MLI has been widely used attempting to explain the underlying mechanism behind geometrical illusions; Gregory (1966) attributed the illusion to the misapplied size constancy scaling influenced by depth cues; Carrasco (1986), argued that visual channels are orientation and spatial frequency specific after presenting the MLI to eight participants and observing a reduction on the illusion after exposure to a low spatial frequency grid. Although evidence questioning this claim has been presented in many studies (Carlson, Moeller, Anderson, 1984) (GarcГa Garibay De Lafuente, 2015) (Zeman et al, 2014) (Zeman A. , Obst, Brooks, Rich, 2013) where the illusion persists in images absent of low spatial frequencies and has been assessed with the latest technology. • 4. The Universe Next Door Summary We as human beings consciously and unconsciously take variables from our own lives to come up with our own definition of a worldview. We make life decisions based on our morals and values that we have put into place because of our views. These views are not always necessarily permanent but always evolving. As we grow older, wiser, and have more life experiences one often re evaluates the hard questions that helped their worldview evolve. During the seventeenth century, there were two essentially Christian worldviews, theism and deism. In the book, The Universe Next Door, by James W. Sire he talks about both theism and deism and explains their similarities and differences through a series of worldview questions. According to Sire, a theistic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sire believed that one factor which led to the development of deism was, a change in the location of the authority of knowledge about the divine; it shifted from the revelation found in scripture to the presence of reason (2009, p. 48). There are several propositions that offer some insight into the worldview of a deist. One states, Human beings, though personal, are part of the clockwork of the universe (Sire, 2009, p. 52). Deists recognize that humans have intelligence, a sense of morality, a capacity for community and creativity. But, none of these, while built into us as created beings, in grounded in God s character (Sire, 2009, p. 53). Another proposition states, Ethics is intuitive or limited to general revelation; because the universe is normal, it reveals what is right (Sire, 2009, p. 56). Deism s ethics, in general, is founded on the notion that built into human nature is the capacity to sense the difference between good and evil (Sire, 2009, p. 56). Many deists believe that the universe is in a normal state and there was never the fall of man. Popular deism is popular in two senses. It is both a simple, easy going belief in the existence of an omnipotent, impersonal, transcendent being, a force of intelligence, and it is a vague belief held by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. John Knowles s A Separate Peace In the first few chapters of A Separate Peace alone, Gene Forrester is John Knowles. In the first chapter, Gene is a grown man fifteen years in the future. He describes Devon School in the summer session in 1942. Devon School is rarely mentioned in the book. In A Separate Peace: The War Within the chronology states that in 1943, a year older than the book, he too went to a summer session at Exeter Academy (Bryant, xi). Knowles, too had a tree that he and other boys jumped off of, but he broke his foot and had to be on crutches (Bryant, xi). This book is a rough autobiography of his life. Gene and the author John Knowleswill be explained as WWII in their eyes, the symbolism of Phineas, and the school and the older Gene. In A Separate Peace, the summer session is for seniors who are training for the war. Gene and Phineas are sixteen and not eligible for the draft. As the book states, they jump off the tree used for diving in the river. Gene says in the book The tree was tremendous, an irate, steely black steeple beside the river. I d be damned if I climbed it (Knowles, 14). Similar to the book, Knowles probably thought the same thing after he broke his foot. In The War Within, Bryant states that A Separate Peace can be read as a war book. With this in mind, it was only about two boys who were not of drafting age, but one to two years before it. In the summer session, the teachers are a little less strict, but only to the boys under eighteen. Even then, the boys ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Love in To His Coy Mistress and The Flea Essay Love in To His Coy Mistress and The Flea Both To His Coy Mistress , by Andrew Marvell (1621 1678) and The Flea , by John Donne (1572 1631) present different attitudes to love. Both are also structured very differently and occasionally use contrasting imagery. Each poem was written in the 17th century, just after the Renaissance. The poets were metaphysical poets. Although the metaphysic was originally a derogatory term, metaphysical poetry used intellectual and theological concepts in an ingenious way. Metaphysical poetry was partly written in rebellion against the highly conventional Elizabethan love poetry just prior to the time. Conventional love poetry what one would generally expect of a ... However, like the image of the flea, the image of worms that will try (L.27) the Coy Mistress in death is very unconventional. It presents the attitude that the act of love is completely necessary in a relationship. The phallic imagery is used in a threatening way as worms are generally associated with earth and tombs, which corresponds to the idea of death. The notion of time is used as the basis for the argument in To his Coy Mistress . Marvell manipulates the idea of time in different ways. In the first stage of the poem he uses time, as he flatters the Coy Mistress, to suggest that love is a timeless pleasure, and that even thirty thousand (L.16) years would not be enough time to adore her. In the second part of his argument, however, Marvell changes the tone to one of urgency as the speaker frightens the Coy Mistress and threatens that his lust will be into ashes (L.30) in death. Is the misery of one person worth the ultimate happiness for everyone else? The story of Omelas describes a city in which there is no guilt. The citizens enjoy life to its fullest, partaking in pleasures without consequences and not dealing with complex social issues that are burdensome in other places. There are few laws, no kings, no slaves, and the luxuries in life exist, as long as they do not cause destruction. Every citizen upon reaching a certain age is made aware of the child, and because of this, they are able to achieve the level of happiness, and appreciation for their own lives. It took a while, however they used dams to block water, made artificial lakes so the boats could get across, gravity to fill the locks, and make locks. There are many theories as to why these stress levels continue to rise. Perhaps the main reason behind this rising stress is the fact that society is choosing to acknowledge its existence, thus making the terminology more commonly known and revealing its detrimental effects the to the public. The purpose of this paper is to analyze what has changed over the years in regards to education, what seem to be common stressors among students, how these students learning mechanisms are affected, and how America can work to prevent academic stress. An important topic to investigate in regards to stress levels includes that of differences between generations. More specifically, it is important to analyze what has changed over the years; in doing so, new findings as to why student stress levels are rising may be discovered. One example of a change is simply the number of students choosing to enroll in college. Almost every year, college admissions are increasing, mainly because it is becoming universally accepted to go to college and attain a degree. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Enrollment in degree granting institutions increased by 11 percent from 1991 to 2001 and another 32 percent from 2001 to 2011 (Novotney, 2014). To start off, Twin studies are a significant tool to investigate the nature versus nurture argument. Identical twins, or monozygotic twins, are siblings that have the exact same genotypes whereas fraternal twins are dizygotic twins that only share half of their genes together. Fraternal twins are similar to siblings, except they have of the exact age. As Plomin, DeFries, McClearn, and Rutter (1997) stated that if one twinhas dark hair, then the other twin has dark hair as well; where the concept of identical genes would ideally distribute itself towards the phenotypes of behavior and personality of identical twins . People develop vast differences through the stimuli they face in their daily life. Despite being reared in the same environment (their home), both twins could have had different sets of friends. Thus, going through their school years having different experiences and facing different challenges. As a whole they will have completely different hobbies and interests. Hence, we think that twins will display the same trait even though they were brought up in different environments because traits have more to do with genetics rather than environment. In order to gain control over the allocation of resources throughout the university and also to balance the monies being distributed amongst the revenue centres a system of participation /subvention was used by the university administrators. These participations were mere equal contributions (20% of the total tuition fees, sales and service income, and indirect cost recoveries) from all revenue centres and were redistributed back to them as block grants called subventions and these participations were portrayed as negative and subventions as positive indirect income. These features in fact enabled university administrators to focus on university priorities and goals. In allocating subventions their main focus was firstly on differentials in the costs of educating students in different fields and secondly, the revenue centres cost/quality ratios. There was a variation in the cost of educating students from one school to another, for example, business education is cheaper than the music education but the university tends to charge the same tuition fees to both of them. Race And Class, Race, And Race This article discusses the thought and preconceived notions that race is the major determining factor of the health outcomes of persons living in Baltimore, an urban area. However, what was found is that the place matters. Furthermore, what I was able to understand in greater depth is that there are deeply rooted racial issues in the United Statesof America despite the legislation that has been passed to eliminate such issues. In addition, what I was able to dissipate was that the researchers were not able to determine which was more important or prevalent, raceor place in seeking to accomplish health equity. In addition, the controversy was is it race and class or race or class . My conclusion is that it is both. Race is unfortunately reflective of where you live. Despite, the Fair Discrimination Act of 1964 and several laws both state and federal to prevent discrimination in housing it still exists. Housing discrimination affects ones access to activities that can decrease chronic illnesses and the access to good healthcare. I have some thoughts concerning this statement Racial segregation creates different exposures to economic opportunity and to other community resources that enhance health . The reason I have questions about this statement is because in the Jim Crow era until the late 1960 s there were several communities of segregated Black populations that did very well economically. The origin of fuzzy systems can be traced to the first introduction of formal logic by Aristotle. Logic introduced by Aristotle was considered to be bilevel logic of either true or false, and is acknowledged to be the foundation of most of the growth of the sciences which are known today.[1] However, it was Plato who is accredited with laying the actual foundations for fuzzy logic when he proposed that there exists a third area beyond true and false where things were not always true or always false.[3] Digital computers in use today are based upon the ideas of Aristotle, where a single bit of information found in a computer is considered either true or false, that the transistor gate is either turned on or off. Many fundamental aspects of society today are based upon concepts of right or wrong, innocent or guilty, a member of a group or not a member of some group. The human race has toyed with and enjoyed the concept of a perfect society, where everything was easily classified into good or bad, right or wrong, true or false and has created computers to respond to that type of idealistic and simplistic world. Our faith comes from the preachings of Jesus but he never specifically described the sacraments and how to perform them. There are seven sacraments in the catholic church and three initiation sacraments, which must be completed in order to be a full member of the church. These sacraments when completed together allow you t become one in God, but where do the sacraments draw their power and how? The first recorded baptism was performed by John the Baptist. John the Baptist is Jesus cousin and was deemed the preparer for his cousin. John was called to prepare for the coming of the lord and the kingdom of God as well warn people for their ultimate judgement. John called on his followers to repent and make ready their hearts for the Lord, this was accomplished through baptism. John would immerse his follower in the river Jordan; however, in order for the sacrament to have validity multiple essential things must first be accomplished. John s followers must have complete faith in his message of the Messiah; they must also recognize that this was a sacrament of repentance that must lead to change. Confession was also a necessary part of John s baptism and ultimately repentance and the forgiveness of sin. Through this process, one is able to be renewed in the Lord and be prepared for the arrival of the Messiah and their final judgement. For by one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
