This document presents a preliminary thesis on modeling a cooling tower in EES (Engineering Equation Solver). The objective is to study cooling towers, create a mathematical model, and implement it in EES. The motivation is to reject waste heat, reduce thermal pollution, and increase efficiency. Types of cooling towers include wet, dry, and combinations. Tasks completed include background research and developing a theory. Future tasks are to complete the theory, develop the mathematical model in EES, verify the model, and study the effect of changing parameters. The timescale is 15 hours per week for 360 hours total.
