Symphonic Wind Band Concert Report
On Friday, February 12, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., the Division of Music at Bob Jones University presented
the Symphonic Wind Band and performed five pieces. The performance in Stratton Hall at Bob Jones
University was a highlight of the European Travelogue, directed by Dan Turner. The program included
A Moorside Suite by Gustav Holst; Three Revolutionary Marches by Bedrich Smetana; Spring:
Overture for Wind Orchestra by Johan de Meij; Galop, from Genevieve de Brabant by Jacques
Offenbach; Ile de France from Suite Francaise by Darius Milhaud; and Danceries by Kenneth
Hesketh. Each piece was concluded with eager applause and praise.
The concert opened with A Moorside Suite from England; it began quietly accompanied by the
clarinet and saxophone. The tempo started out slowly, then shifted to fast and back again to slow,
throughout the entire piece. There was an appearance of a few soloists including the oboe, clarinet,
and saxophone. This movement ended with the entire orchestra leading to a final chorale that builds to
a fortissimo climax.
The next movement of the concert from Czechoslovakia, Three Revolutionary Marches, began
dramatic with leaps and high range climaxes. The music of this piece perfectly portrays the ... Show

I especially liked, Spring: Overture for Wind Orchestra, because of the rapid and dance like scene. In
addition, I was impressed with the orchestra s ability to perform so favorably with the brilliant soprano
soloist. My least favorite performance of the evening was Danceries. The beginning was enjoyable but
it quickly shifted to excessive refrains and distorted structure of instruments. After hearing these
independent pieces I was able to comprehend and respect the talent of the performers of Bob Jones
University s music division. Overall, the musicians performed an excellent concert and left a lasting

Names In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
Significance of the Characters Names Jane Eyre, a gothic themed book, by Charlotte Bronte, is about
a girl named Jane, who lives with her abusive aunt, goes to an orphan school called Lowood, becomes
a governance for a girl named Adele, meets her cousins the rivers, and ended up marring a Mr. Edward
Rochester. This book took place in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The major
characters being Jane Eyre, Mr. Rochester, St. John, Bertha Mason, Helen Burns, the reeds, and Ms.
Temple. With this in mind, I believe that throughout the book, Charlotte Bronte uses the character s
names, to symbolize the characteristics of the characters. To start off, Charlotte Bronte uses Jane Eyre

Temples name to symbolize that she is a pleasant person. I can infer tis due to Ms. Temples full name
being Maria Temple, Maria being the name of Jesus mother, and temple being a place of worship,
combined showing a sort of pleasant, even sweet atmosphere. First of all, we see this when Hele gives
us a brief description of Ms. Temple, Miss Temple is full of goodness: it pains her to be severe to
anyone, even the worst in the school: she sees my errors, and tells me of them gently: and, if I do
anything worth of praise she gives me my meed liberally (Bronte 67). With this in mind, we can
clearly tell Miss Temples, pleasant nature, as she cares about Helen, correcting her faults just as a
mother would, connecting back to her first name Maria. Moreover, we see her pleasant nature connect
to her last name Temple by a description given by Jan, Miss temple had always something of serenity
in her air, of state in her mien, of refined propriety in her languages... chastened the pleasure looked
on her and listened to her (Bronte 86). For this reason, we see Miss Temples pleasant nature due to her
having serenity, and people who look at her and listen to her, just as people would at a temple, being a
pleasant experience for some. Therefore, Miss Temples name shows her pleasant nature, due to the
actions she takes, and how others view

Factors That Affect Sexual Orientation
Factors of Sexual Orientation

Abstract
What does it mean to be a woman or a man? What is it that influences us as individuals to live as a
man or as woman as well have the feelings of attraction to someone else? Furthermore, what is it that
influences us to have those feeling to someone of the same sex? What does this all mean?
Approximately 100 years ago a German physician by the name of Magnus Hirschfeld suggest that the
brain of a fetus could possibly show early signs of whether or not a person would be of homosexual or
heterosexual nature when they became an adult. Can testing and research really tell us how our
innermost thoughts and feeling lead up to a preference of Sexual Orientation?
Major changes took place in the early 19th century when homosexuality started to be looked at in a
different light. Homosexuality started to be looked at and considered as part of nature. Up to this point
the idea of homosexuality was considered wrong in many cultures as well as a punishable crime in
some cases. Even though in ancient Greece the practice of homosexuality was accepted from a very
young age, it was considered out of the norm outside of that culture. Through numerous research
articles the question, what factors influence sexual orientation in male and females is studied.
The research studied comes from research journal articles that have been published in the Journal of
psychology and sociology.

Significance of Some Historical Incidences
Significance of some historical happenings There are various significant historical incidences that took
place several years in the past which left valuable lessons with the USA citizens and successive
governments. Some of the events took place over 60 years ago but left a lasting mark among the
people that prompted efforts to ensure these events do not happen again. This paper discusses several
unfortunate incidences as well as measures that have been taken to mitigate the issues from happening
again. Halifax Explosion 1917 The Halifax explosion took place on December 6, 1917. A French
cargo ship SS Mont Blanc that was fully loaded with wartime explosives collided with Norwegian
vessel in narrows which is a strait that connects the upper Halifax Harbor and the Bedford Basin. A
few minutes later the volatile cargo went into flames; this was followed by cataclysmic explosions
which was devastating to the Richmond district of Halifax. Close to 2,000 people died from the debris,
buildings that had collapsed and fires and an estimated 9,000 people were injured who might have
been safe were it not the fact that they came out to watch the fire. This was the largest man made
exposition in history. As if this was not enough, some survivors were washed away by water, the blast
had provoked a tsunami and the people who had been blown by the explosion were being rushed over
the shoreline by water. The events of the explosion were quite devastating for people in the area (A E

Medicare Payment Systems Paper
In week 2, I will be reviewing a comparison and contrasting Medicare, Medigap and Medicaid. The

conclusion of my overall review of defining, comparing and contrasting these payment systems, I will
end with this review. I will also be giving my own opinion on these payment systems. First, I want

from working as a pharmacy technician at Walgreens. Overall, Medicare as a whole is related or part
of Medigap in regards to filling payment gaps in deductibles and coinsurance. Medicaid, I see as a
different entity because even though it is government funded, it is also a state program that you have
to be eligible for. There are a lot of differences in all these payment systems, but they also have
similarities in regards to Medicare and Medigap. This new knowledge will definitely help me help
other people understand their Medicare and Medicaid

Anal Fissure Research Paper
Most people initially become aware they have a tear in the skin around their anus because of the
stinging and burning that occurs when they use the bathroom. These tears are known as anal fissures.
In addition to the pain, sufferers may also notice a small amount of bleeding while using the
bathroom. If this happens to you, you may be aware of when the tear occurred, especially if it was
caused by straining during constipation or passing an especially hard stool.
How Do Anal Fissures Become A Chronic Issue?
For the majority of sufferers, an anal fissure is a minor annoyance that will heal on its own without
any additional treatment from your doctor. These occurrences are known as acute cases, and are

This diagnosis may be made by a general practitioner or a proctologist after about six weeks of
symptoms from the tear. If treatment is not applied, chronic anal fissures could exist and continue to
be symptomatic for a year or even longer.
For some sufferers, the issue may lie in the fact that the cause of the tear has not be resolved.
For example, if constipation is a frequent problem, you may need to increase your fiber intake or use a
stool softener regularly. The best option is to discuss how to manage your bowel issues with your
healthcare provider.
Although fissure symptoms typically disappear within an hour or two after using the bathroom, this
type of chronic issue can cause a lot of pain in the meantime. If the tear has not healed by the six week
mark, or has healed and then occured again, a visit to your doctor is the most effective method to
ensure there is not a more serious problem and you find relief quickly.

The Theoretical Frameworks Within Social Psychology Essay
Behaviorism is one of the main theoretical frameworks within social psychology, its main objective is
to predict and control human behavior. The approach of this paper aims to provide a broad overview
regarding to the historical background that contributed to the emergence of this theory, its founders,
and their philosophical and methodological foundations of behaviorism. Behaviorism is primarily
focused on observable behavior rather than on the thought process or emotion. This school of thought
can be split into two main fields: Classical conditioning (Pavlov, Watson) and Operant conditioning
(Thorndike, Skinner) Classical conditioning can be defined as reflexive or automatic type of learning
in which a stimulus acquires the capacity to evoke a response that was originally evoked by another
stimulus. (McLeod, 2013) This means taking a neutral stimulus and pairing it with an unconditional
stimulus that provides the unconditioned response. Operant conditioning is not concerned with
automatic responses or reflexes. The science behind operant conditioning is learned behavior and
autonomous responses. It bases the responses on reward and punishment system to observe if it
strengthens or weakens a certain conscious behavior. Dr. Ivan Pavlov was a Russian scientist who
lived from 1849 1936. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology. Trying to study the digestive
system of dogs, he came a cross a legendary discovery. Pavlov birthed the first theory of behaviorism,

The Partition of India
Today, the legacy of 1947 increasingly poses a threat than any other time before on the subcontinent.
Part has really ended up being a trauma from which the mainland has never completely recouped. Yet
unfortunately, this is not reflected in its history composing, a reality that is regretted by a lot of people.
Alok Bhalla, for instance, in his presentation to an accumulation of Partition stories in English
interpretation states that regarding the matter of Partition, there is not only an absence of incredible
expositive expression, there is, all the more genuinely, an absence of extraordinary history Indeed, if
this is accurate to any degree, this is maybe on the grounds that Indian historiography has centered
more on Independence than on Partition, more on the bringing together constrain of patriotism than
the divisive compels that lease the nation in 1947. For quite a while, Indian history composing
emulated the customary patriot talk in which the part of the incredible Congress pioneers and the
vitality of national joining were dependably given pride of spot. This specific talk has been termed the
Nehruvian story of Indian history, and one can t overemphasize the significance of Nehru s own books
in designing this talk. Such works of Nehru s as An Autobiography and The Discovery of India show
how he saw Indian history and how he reinterpreted it to an advanced mainstream patriot talk for the
rising independent state of India.

America, black people were able to create amongst each other, a culture which includes the arts,
literature and music. Musical expression was very important and still is very important in times of
need, support and protest. It helped slaves communicate in song across rivers and escape for their

We can safely assume that she was referring to the 16th Street Church bombing in Birmingham,
Alabama (History.com) and to the death of Medgar Evers, who was a major civil rights activist from
Mississippi according to Alan Light s What Happened Miss Simone (97). Nina goes on to speak about
her frustrations with America and wanting equality for black people. The curse word in the title made
many radio stations ban the song. Light elaborates on how there is a straightforwardness in Nina s
lyrics, and how it led to many people, mainly Nina s white counterparts straying away once she
became more involved in the civil rights movement through music (100). With Simone s fearfulness,
she created something that will be remembered as a protest song for years to come. Nina Simone went
on to add songs like Four Women and To Be Young, Gifted and Black to her protest repertoire. Few
months later, crossover singer Sam Cooke comes out with A Change is Gonna Come . He was inspired
to write this song after he was turned away then arrested for disturbing the peace at a Holiday Inn in
Louisiana. According to David Cantwell of the New Yorker, he was also inspired to write it because of
Bob Dylan s Blowin in The Wind . Within the lyrics, you can hear the familiarity and amount of
inspiration and hope it emanates:

The Work At Home Policy
Introduction
Every code of companies have the pros and cons, so does work at home policy which KGDV was
trying to introduce. Whether the company decided to expand work at home policy at fast speed or
slow down the expansion, the side effects caused by the policy that may bring about high moral
hazard in the company would become most likely apparent in the long run and should be observed. In
order to demonstrate appropriate proposals for the problem, the essay will first outline two issues of
the programme. Then, how to build up trusts and encourage workers to communicate to minimize the
side effects from the aspect of leadership theories will be carefully argued. Finally, a summary of
proposals will be shown.
Two Side effects of the policy
There are two side effect issues that should be considered. Firstly Social deprivation is harmful
especially for KPO consulting firms such as KGDV because the projects which the company
undertook the offers of are basically allocated to teams and professional knowledge and numerous
information related to projects must be informed well among all the members of the team. As quoted
by Susanne Braun that nowadays, organizations predominantly team based structures require leaders
to lead and motivate not only individuals but also teams as a whole (2007, quoted in Braun, Peus,
Weisweiler, and Frey, 2013, p.270), how leaders of teams behave with members of the teams is one of
the great factors to maintain the company s high morale. Secondly,

Arrest Emmeline Pankhurst
7333 It was the fifth time I was called to arrest Emmeline Pankhurst under the Cat and Mouse Act. As
a police officer, I thought it was my duty to keep the streets of Plymouth clean, and I would be
assigned the same comfortable position over and over again. But my chief from Scotland Yard found
out my motives and sent me out to do some other dirty work, such as arresting women under the Cat
and Mouse Act. The government had decided to arrest Emmeline after she traveled from Ellis Island
to England. Of course, I was expecting to be sent to recapture her, but 7 other men were also told to
follow me. 4 from Scotland Yard, two from Plymouth, and a prison guard from Holloway. Like all of

My job was assigned, and it seemed like my chief could already foresee the events that were going to
happen. It seemed as if I was assigned to every single one of Emmeline Pankhurst s arrests. Every
time I arrested her and brought her to prison, I started to grow soft towards the women s suffrage
movement. I started to build empathy for them and started to abandon my duties, especially after force
feeding women for over 3 months. A couple of years after my fifth arrest of Ms. Pankhurst, I traveled
to the United States by boat to witness the woman s suffrage amendment being passed in the House of
Representatives. After being forced to witness so many horrific events in England, it felt only right to
show my support of the Nineteenth Amendment. I would later go back to England to report what had
happened. In 1923, I married one of the Suffragettes working with Emmeline, and I asked her to tell
me all about their efforts to give women voting rights. Because of what she told me, I was able to

Comparing The Tolkien s The Hobbit
The contrast between different types of leadership appears in the chapter Flies and Spiders in J.R.R
Tolkien s The Hobbit. The chapter starts off with the group no longer having Gandalf lead them
through the perils that lie in the Mirkwood. Thorin helps lead the group past a deadly river that cannot
be touched and helps them until he is captured by elves. Bilbo battle spiders and saves the dwarves on
multiple occasions in Thorin s absence. In this chapter you see a new contrast in Throrin and
Company. No longer having Gandalf Thorin picked up the mantle of leadership and lead by command.
Bilbo then assumed the role of leadership in Thorins absence and lead by putting others first, putting
himself on the line. As the story progresses you have these two types of leadership contrasting
throughout the story. Ultimately in the end Bilbo s was of leadership proved to be better.
When entering the Mirkwood Gandalf left the group leaving Thorin to lead the group through the
woods. Thorin leads the group by command through Mirkwood usually delegating who should do
what in the group. As the group is trying to find their way across the river on pages 132 133 Thorin
takes command of the situation. Once the group had a solid plan Thorin delegates the order of travel
Who shall cross First said Bilbo I shall said Thorin, and you will come with me and Fili and Balin.

Noodles And Company Problem Analysis
Introduction
Noodles and Company, a fast casual dining restaurant, whose founder is Aaron Kennedy. Aaron
thought of the idea in 1993 while eating at an Asian noodle diner in NYC. He opened his first
restaurant in Boulder, Colorado. It was opened on October third, 1995. Noodles and Company was not
his start though, he has also worked for Oscar Meyer, Pepsi, and Cato Gobe.
Other persons that played significant roles include President and Co CEO, Ken Keyme; Chief
Financial Officer/EVP, Mary Beth Lewis; COO, Joe Serafin; Executive Chef, Ross Kamens; and
Chief Development Officer/EVP, Thomas Weigand. Many of these people helped in the development
of Noodles and Company, and helped the company begin to grow in the late 1990 s.
Problem Analysis
First off, the competition faced by Noodles and Company is quite brutal. This competition includes
but is not limited to, Chipotle and Cheese Cake Factory. Chipotle offers consumers good quality
Mexican food, for an affordable price. This draws away consumers who would be normally eating at
an Noodles and Company. Cheese Cake Factory hurts Noodles and Company even more so, because
they offer larger variety in their menu. Cheese Cake Factory s menu spans from a variety of different
cultures. Cheese Cake Factory also has a specialty item, cheese cake. This item pulls the attention of
consumers.
Secondly, you shouldn t open thirty two new operations in the next year, solely because you have the
capital to do so. With competition as it is,

The Environmental Causes And Dangers Of Tasmanian Devils
The problem is that the many animals are decreasing due to humans destructing their habit. For
example, Tasmanian devils are endangered is because they are getting tumors that are called devil
facial tumor disease. This is causing their population to decrease as there isn t much they can do when
they have a tumor. Tasmanian Devils are also losing their habitat because the farmers need more land
to grow crops and they live there it s not ideal as then they starve and can t get what they need to live.
Forest land has been cleared over time by humans due to deforestation as people are chopping down
the trees to have more land to grow crops. Land clearing is the process of removing trees, stumps,
brush, stones and other obstacles from an area as required to increase the size of the crop producing
land base of an existing farm or to provide land for a new farm operation. European settlement has
significantly altered Australia s natural landscape. About 90% of native food in the east has been
removed for agriculture, industry, transport and human habitation. About 50% of Australia s
rainforests have been cleared and Australia covered by forest or woodland has been reduced by more
than one third. Around 5% of Australia s higher plants, 7% of reptiles, 9% of birds, 9% of freshwater
fish, 16% of amphibians and 23% of mammals are listed as Extinct, Endangered or Vulnerable. Over 5

Miss Ever s Boys Film critique Essay
Bioethical Issues: Miss Evers Boys
Introduction
Miss Ever s Boys is a docudrama film that was produced by the HBO cable network. The movie
explores ethical and social issues involved in the infamous Tuskegee Study. The study was about
untreated black men with syphilis. The U.S. Public Health Service is said to have conducted a study
among 600 black Americans from the years 1932 to 1972. This study was done in Macon County. This
paper will exclusively explore the critique the Miss Ever s Boys film using ethical frameworks. The
ethical framework includes beneficence, justice, and respect for persons, duty based ethics, virtue

In the movie, Miss Ever s Boys , only blacks were included in the study. The study recruited 600 black
men and none white person. To start with, this was discrimination of the highest order. This means that
only the black men were at the risk of dying, considering that they treated them with placebos. This
means that only the black men s lives were endangered while the bioethics requires that the risk to be
distributed equally (B. Miss Evers Boys and the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, 2013).
Respect for persons means that people have a right to fully exercise their autonomy. Here, people need
to be given a chance to make their own choices. In the film, Miss Ever s Boys, it is clear that the
participants were not respected at all. The first show of disrespect was when the U.S. Public Health
Service decided to conduct a study and lie to the participants that they were going to offer them cure
to syphilis. The second disrespect shown was the discrimination in the study where only the blacks
were selected. Lastly, the U.S. Public Health Service disrespected the participants knowing that it was
dangerous. Therefore, the respect for person ethical principle was not meet in the movie Miss Ever s
Boys .
Duty based ethics are based on duty or obligation. Kant argues that there are higher principles that are
good in no matter the time, situation, or culture. Therefore, when faced with

Physical Benefits Of Physical Strength And Physical Fitness
PART A
1
Cardiovascular Endurance is the ability of your heart, lungs, and blood vessels to delivery oxygen to
your body tissue during physical activity. The more efficiently your body delivers oxygen, the lower
your breathing rate is. An activity to improve your cardioactive strength is swimming. It builds up
endurance and increases lung capacity. This type of exercise can slowly be bumped up after your body
gets use to each exercise.
Muscular endurance is the ability to have a muscle or group of muscles to do a repeated action against
a resisting force over a course of time. A way you can improve your muscular endurance is by doing
simple actions like push ups, plank position in yoga, and sit ups.
Muscular strength is the maximum amount of force a muscle can use against a resistance in a single
action. Lifting, squatting, and bench pressing weights are all activities that can improve muscular
strength.
Flexibility is how much you can bend without damaging any part of your body. The range of motion
your joints and muscles can move freely. People practice their flexibility by doing the splits and casual
stretches in yoga and tai chi classes. These should be done regularly to stop the muscles from seizing
up.
2. Mental Benefits of Being Physically Fit Its been shown that certain types of exercises that stretch
and then releases the muscle, will help to lower your overall tension and stress levels. Yoga classes
deal directly with these types of exercises. Physical

Vitamins Are Vital to Your Health
L Vitamins Organic compounds needed * in the diet in small amounts to promote and regulate the
chemical reactions and processes needed for growth, reproduction, and the maintenance of health.
Vitamins are essential to your health. You only need very small quantities but if you
don t get enough your body cannot function optimally. Severe deficiencies cause debilitating diseases
but even marginal intakes can cause subtle changes that affect your health today and your risk of
chronic disease tomorrow. An organic substance is classified as a vitamin if lack of it in the diet causes
symptoms that are relieved by adding it back to the diet. The fact that the vitamins we eat in food are
essential to health seems simple and obvious, but it was not always so. For

Still Alice By Lisa Genova Analysis

The Importance of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United...
The importance of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution is such that some have
called it the amendment that completed the Constitution. When it was ratified on July 9th, 1868, the
amendment became one of legislative cornerstones of the Reconstruction Era, a time in which the
Radical Republicans, led by John A. Bingham and Thaddeus Stevens, promulgated a legislative
program focused on providing racial equality before the law. Among the laws passed in the
Reconstruction Era, the Fourteenth Amendment was one of the most controversial, with one
Republican congressman, Representative A.J. Rogers of New Jersey saying that it was, ...but another

The conquering North was hoping to, as was said by Abraham Lincoln in his Second Inaugural
Address, bind up the nation s wounds, and obtain, a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all
nations. However, the South, while it had been forced to discontinue slavery, was not prepared to
accept Blacks as equal citizens, either politically or socially. In late 1865, Southern states began
creating the set of laws that became known as the Black Codes, severely restricting the rights of the
newly freed African Americans living in the South. The degree to which the Black Codes limited
freedom of African Americans would eventually become one of the major motivations for the passage
of first the Civil Rights Act of 1866, and finally, in 1868, the Fourteenth Amendment. By March of
1866, eight states of the former Confederacy had adopted various laws limiting the freedoms of
African Americans. In the Slaughterhouse Cases (1873), some of the first Supreme Court cases to deal
with the Fourteenth Amendment, the opinion of Justice Samuel F. Miller provided a listing of the
rights that had been abridged under the Black Codes: [African Americans] were in some states
forbidden to appear in the towns in any other character than menial servants. They were required to

Chemical Structure Of Chitin And Cellulose
3.2 Chemistry of chitin
Similar to its polysaccharide nature, Chitin has a similar chemical structure as that of cellulose. It is
reported to be a polymer with high molecular weight of N acetyl D glucosamine units which are
linked by β D bonds, which has 1000 3000 units (Shahidi Abuzaytoun 2005). In similarity with
cellulose, chitin has an acetamido group at its C2 postion unlike cellulose which has a hydroxyl group
(Shahidi Abuzaytoun 2005). Figure 1 shows the structure of chitin, its derivative chitosan and
cellulose.
Figure 1: Structure of chitin, chitosan and cellulose, Source: (Shahidi Abuzaytoun 2005)
Furthermore, discussing the structure of chitin, it is reported that chitin and chitosan are
heteropolymers as compared to cellulose which is a homopolymer (Kumar R 2000). In addition to the
structure of chitin the degree of N acetylation is also an important part of its chemistry. It is important
to know the chemistry related to the degree of N acetylation that is the ratio of 2 acetamido 2 deoxy D
glucopyranose to 2 amino 2 deoxy D glucopyranose (Kumar R 2000), before considering its
application for specific purposes. Furthermore, chitosan is one such universally accepted derivative of
chitin that is obtained by N deacetylation to such a degree at which it is soluble in aqueous solution of
acetic acid and formic acid, an optimized degree to achieve chitosan is 0.35 or less. This ratio is can be

Diagram shows the four forces in flight. This diagram will be further explained throughout the
analysis of the different forces and how bad weather affects them (hall, 2015). The diagram displays
that weight is the opposing force of lift and is dependent on the mass of all the airplane parts, plus the
amount of fuel and any payload on board such as people, baggage and so on (Woodford, Chris,
2009/2017). Weight is also a continuous downward force that planes must constantly overcome to stay
in the air by generating enough lift to overcome gravity. As the airplane moves through the air, there
are other aerodynamic forces present such as thrust and drag. According to Real World Physics
Problems (2009), Thrust is the force that moves the airplane forward which is generated by an engine
creating the backward force allowing the plane to move

Lean Six Sigma And Its Application
Abstract or Executive summary:
Lean Six Sigma is a widely known approach used for improving the processing and quality of the
products and services in an organization. Some of its major functions include improving quality,
removing waste, reducing variation and organization. There have been several studies that focus on
the combination of Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma. These applications mainly focused on the private
industry more than the government industry. Hence, the research aims to explore the strategy of Lean

However, the use of both strategies together could be challenging as few organizations have been able
to successfully integrate and apply the Green Lean Six Sigma. There are several factors that influence
the implementation of Green Lean Six Sigma implementation process.
Six Sigma:
In addition to this, Lean Six Sigma mainly focuses on eliminating waste and improving efficiency. It
consists of a combination of two strategies namely; Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma. Six Sigma
involves the Quality management of product which includes waste reduction, identifying defects if
any and also improving the quality. Six Sigma set its stage in the industry by Motorola Corporation in
1980. Furthermore, It gained its popularity in 1990s.
Lean Enterprise:
When it comes to Lean Enterprise, it focuses mainly on reducing cycle time and also waste in the
process. Lean Enterprise was at first developed by Toyota Motor Corporation as the Toyota Production
System which became popular after 1973. The energy crisis facilitated the increasing demand at that
time. The term Lean Enterprise is used to broaden the scope of a Lean programme from
manufacturing to embrace the enterprise or entire organization . (Alukal, 2003)
Lean Six Sigma:
Therefore, Lean Six Sigma uses a variety of problem solving tools that analyze the process as well as
the nature of problem being studied. These tools also facilitate the organization and simplification of

The Treaty Of The European Union
On Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, the United Kingdom invoked Article 50 of the Treaty of the European
Union and voted to whether or not to leave the European Union. This June 2016 referendum, which is
most commonly known as Brexit, had the largest voter turnout in the United Kingdom since the 1992
General Election, roughly 33.5 million voters. The referendum resulted fifty two percent in favor of
leaving the European Union. The separation process is difficult. By just agreeing to the negotiations to
separate from the European Union, there has been significant political and economic impacts affecting
the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. The day following the vote that favored leaving the
European Union, the Pound, Britain s currency, went from $1.50 to $1.28, the lowest it s been in over
three decades (Kottasova). In an effort to not deal with the EU negotiations, David Cameron, the
United Kingdom s Prime Minister, resigned from his position on July 13th, effectively ending his six
year holding on the position. Brexit is an example of when nationalism and frustration mix together
and motivates a society to make a decision possible which was unforeseeable prior. It can be deduced
that the three contributing factors to the success of the Brexit vote are Economics, Nationalism, and
Political Elitism. Understanding the history of the relationships between the European Union, political

Summary Of No Logo By Naomi Klein
Naomi Klein in her book No Logo outlines her thoughts as to how marketing and advertising by a
company has made a dramatic shift from showcasing a product, to the branding of the company name.
Companies have now shifted their focus to creating an association between the company and an idea.
The company then uses this idea to sell their products. In her book she also addresses the growing
massive globalization of corporations into global Goliaths. She makes the claim that such large
corporations may even be considered form of multinational government. Klein states that these huge
corporations are squeezing out the competition and creating less competition to compete with within
the markets, and less of a fight to attract consumers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book Klein fears that the brands have allowed the companies to become too powerful and there
is no counterbalance to their power. These super corporations are allowed to act at will and often are
stepping all other smaller corporations as well as within the countries these corporations operate in.
Her arguments are very much in line with the anti globalization movement that is gaining popularity
in the world. The brands of companies have become so powerful and insidious that they are almost
impossible to escape. Our culture has surrendered to the idea of the brand. Brands now dominate our
society and even have crept into our education systems. Klein says in her book, ...this corporate
obsession with brand identity is waging a war on public and individual space: on public institutions
such as schools, on youthful identities, on the concept of nationality and on the possibilities for
unmarketed space. (5) Coke and Pepsi have bidding wars over the rights to have their vending
machines in schools. College and university sports arenas are plastered with advertisements, or even
named after a corporation, like the Taco Bell Pavilion in Boise. There are certain corporations which
market themselves so aggressively, which are so intent on stamping their image on everybody and

Fonderia di Torino, S.p.A is a manufacturing company who produces metal castings using six semi

Maker machine to replace the six machines currently in place. The firm needs to consider all costs in
deciding whether to keep the current machines or purchase the Vulcan Mold Maker.
Buying the Vulcan machine will result in year 0 outflows of 1.01 million euros, but will enable the

On the other hand, the need for higher capacity may in fact be needed if the effects of an improved
product contribute to more market share.
There is a projected inflation rate of 3%. Applying this rate to all costs, minus depreciation, we find
that the effect is a lower NPV and raise the EAC for both decisions. However, purchasing the Vulcan
machine still remains to have the lower EAC. Thus, all other things equal, the purchasing the Vulcan
seems to quantitatively be the better decision. There are also a few other small impacts which are not
factored into the EAC. The Vulcan frees up 15% of floor space and also has a maximum capacity that
is 30% higher than the current machines. In the near future this may be irrelevant because there is no
need for more floor space and the current machines are only operating at 90% capacity as it is, but
these should still be considered added benefits as unforeseeable market conditions over the next eight
years may warrant the need for added capacity.
After considering both qualitative and quantitative impacts of the decision, it would be my
recommendation to purchase the Vulcan machine. All of the data shows that the Vulcan machine will
be less costly and more efficient. What the data does not show however is the critical assumption that
the laborers will be able to be laid off without dispute. If there is conflict from the labor

Throughout their history, their mission was always to provide quality care with respect and dignity to
the elderly.
I had my moments of success and happiness when I was able to help someone along and see how
appreciative they were. There were also times that were saddening and uncomfortable. When visiting
rooms, I did encounter people who were losing grip on their mental and physical abilities. I felt a
heaviness because even though they were taken care of, there wasn t that could be done to make them
better. It was inspiring seeing nurses and family members continuing to care for them and keep
dignity.
I do believe my action had an impact on the residents. When assisting with activities for the residents,
we were able to spend less time setting up less time residents needed to just sit and wait for the
activity to being. The impact made was I was able to get services to the residents (who can and do get

From this understanding, we as a people have a responsibility to unite in the pursuit of justice in order
to make all voices heard and recognize those who are in the greatest need. Practice of these teachings
would undoubtedly promote the common good. When seeking out suffering and seeing to it that

Summary Of Beast Of Waste And Desolation
In The Beast of Waste and Desolation in Barry Holstun Lopez s book Of Wolves and Men, he writes
about the attitudes he encountered from people when discussing wolves. These attitudes came from
several different sources, ranging from several different Native American tribes and field biologists to
ranchers, trappers, and general residents of the areas where he conducted his research. Lopez
expressed his discomfort when he spoke with the latter group, as those people that felt there was
nothing wrong with killing wolves, and that the practice, overall, was a good thing. Lopez writes that
it seemed many of these people appeared to be filled with a general hatred; of government, laws, and
wolves. The killing of wolves held a vengeful element, with no remorse or regret. He goes into detail
of the single minded persecution of the wolf, even though many of the conflicts with wolves were man
made. One example provided was of man depleting many of the wolves natural prey sources like elk
and buffalo, and as a result the wolves turned to preying on the domestic stock instead. Suddenly, man
was justified in killing wolves as it became necessary to protect livestock. The larger questions ...

opportunities of transport and people are often commuters. This kind of travelling enlarges repetition

Additionally, advertising on TV and Radio has to be done as well because those are very important

were related to crime scenes people thought were linked to real crimes in the Victorian age Finding the
reality in Sherlock Holmes detective stories and how they relate to real live events now. Author Conan
Doyle created this character who is a fictional character. Who would solve mysteries and crimes how
this is reflects to society today compared to the stories of Sherlock Holmes and what s happening in
the real world society and how Sherlock Holmes has changed the way we do things today in the crime
works. And what has he done to change the way we do things in society.
How has Sherlock Holmes play an effect in detective work when Sherlock Holmes did his

Systemic Review
Appraisal of Systemic Review
Healthcare workers, especially nurses, have for ultimate goal to provide the best care possible for
patients. Caring for patients does not only include making sure that they are safe and well taking care
of but it also requires for nurses to act as patients advocate and ensure that the best methods are used
to provide care. Nurses contribute to ensuring that the patients are as comfortable as possible and help
prevent or reduce pain as much as they can (Dearholt. Dang, 2012, p. 12P). People have a different
reaction to pain. For some patients being pain free might be one their ultimate goal while they are in
the hospital and if a nurse can help achieve that goal that will significantly contribute in making the ...

This rating scale is used to determine whether or not research is worth putting into practice. During
the appraisal of research, there is a different level of evidence that is taking into consideration. There
is three quality rating with five different categories. The quality rating is graded from high, good, and
low or major flaw level of evidence. A high quality research requires the study to be well structured
and organized with all the necessary elements and definite conclusion. Research is considered good
when the result is within normal limits and the conclusion although not conclusive can lead to more
research. Lastly, a low quality rating did not provide much information and stayed inconclusive
(Dearholt. Dang, 2012, p. 12P). There is five level of evidence in which research can fall under. The
level is from I to V. the level I includes all systematic review researches that are experimental with a
randomized controlled trial. These researches might be randomized with or without meta analysis.
Level II includes all the systematic review that are quasi experimental studies. These researches might

Anton Chigurh s No Country For Old Men
Throughout the thrilling page turner No Country For Old Men, readers are introduced to a psychotic
murderer who seemingly embodies only villainous traits. As the story progresses and comes to a close,
many readers would argue that the novel s primary antagonist Anton Chigurh was a sociopathic killer
with no personal values or morals. I will argue that despite being a sociopathic killer, Anton Chirgurh
does have a code of ethics that he abides to and I will do so by investigating his ideologies about fate
and how they controlled him during a game of coin toss in a gas station For the duration of NCFOM,
Anton Chigurh abided by the rules of fate and considered himself it s dealer. Despite his lack of
human empathy, Chigurh did have a strict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chigurh finds himself operating fate with the uneasy owner of a small gas station. From the
emergence of the banter, it is clear that Chigurh intends to be straight forward. He states clearly that
the man married into his estate, despite the man s embarrassed efforts to deny his dependency on his
wife. This moment of the conversation could be seen as Chigurh s triggering moment. That s the way
it is, Chigurh says to the man. He has found himself here at this moment and time and wants to
determine the man s fate. Chigurh questions the man about coin tosses, and he his curious to know the
man s luck in the game of chance. By flipping the coin, Chigurh turns himself over to fate. He uses the
coin as a guide in what he should do next. The coin will tell him how to act upon the man standing
behind the counter. The man hesitates to call the coin toss, but Chigurh insists knowing fate must be
carried out. By insisting the gas station owner calls the coin toss, Chiurgh demonstrates his loyalty to
his moral system. He follows closely and almost religiously to the rules of chance and won t stop until
he enforces the man s destiny. The man believes in the traditional rules of a coin toss, and says he has

Killer Whales In The Film Blackfish
SeaWorld: a park known for shows with sea lions, otters, dolphins. Though perhaps the most
important factor is the daily Killer Whale presentations. The first SeaWorld park opened on March 21,
1964 in San Diego. Throughout the years, people have questioned whether SeaWorld is morally right.
In the film Blackfish (2013), former and present SeaWorld trainers, SeaWorld representatives, and
people who have experienced SeaWorld are interviewed and tell about their stories and thoughts on
SeaWorld. Being emotional, and, at times, graphic, the film is a perfect example of why Killer Whales
should not be kept in captivity for human amusement. In the beginning of the film, orcas babies and
adults are shown being caroled by nets in the ocean. Video ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some speak of certain attacks and others speak of how the whales were treated in general. One trainer
speaks about how when the whales didn t listen to commands or perform the right tricks, not one
whale was punished, but they all were. Some of the punishments included starving the whales and
isolation. Besides the varies forms of punishments, the trainer spoke about how being kept captive was
a punishment itself. Another trainer told her views on SeaWorld. Issues pertaining death were pushed
aside and appeared not important. The trainer spoke about how workers at the park weren t told
specific news and were kept in the dark. Those with higher positions at the park kept things from
trainers and others who worked at the park, most likely afraid for news to surface. If news broke about
an attack or a death, their revenue would drop and audience numbers were plummet. By hearing from
almost every person that was interviewed that what SeaWorld did, and still does, is morally wrong,
viewers become aware of just how much has been kept from the public. The audience gets the idea
that not only do the whales suffer, but people as well. The trauma the whales undergo is presented

Military Bearing Essay
The United States Army is structured on several values and principles that it upholds, among these are
military bearing, discipline and respect. These principles represents what the organization strongly
believes in and governs the most basic customs and courtesies that all its members should abide by,
otherwise legal repercussion and punishment is enforced that could ultimately result in separation
from the organization. The standards must be met by Soldiers or they can face a number of
repercussions such as, barring from re enlistment or even separation. Non commissioned officers
should always uphold the standards so that all Soldiers know what they are and what can happen to
them if they do not meet the standard. One is to observe a sense of calmness even in the most stressful
situations, leaders of the United States Army should maintain their military bearing even in situations
where it seems chaotic, out of control or a civilian would respond in panic. The reasoning behind this
goes back to situations where non commissioned officers would have to make fast decisions in a war
zone that may impact the lives of their Soldiers. In a battlefield situation their Soldiers are relying on
their non commissioned officer to make a quick decision and trusting that decisions made are the best
out of all situations given. Non commissioned officers should be able to make big decisions with all
his confidence projecting with his military bearing. A leader should look like a

Recently drones have been seen more and more around the world and maybe it s because they are

  • 2. Symphonic Wind Band Concert Report On Friday, February 12, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., the Division of Music at Bob Jones University presented the Symphonic Wind Band and performed five pieces. The performance in Stratton Hall at Bob Jones University was a highlight of the European Travelogue, directed by Dan Turner. The program included A Moorside Suite by Gustav Holst; Three Revolutionary Marches by Bedrich Smetana; Spring: Overture for Wind Orchestra by Johan de Meij; Galop, from Genevieve de Brabant by Jacques Offenbach; Ile de France from Suite Francaise by Darius Milhaud; and Danceries by Kenneth Hesketh. Each piece was concluded with eager applause and praise. The concert opened with A Moorside Suite from England; it began quietly accompanied by the clarinet and saxophone. The tempo started out slowly, then shifted to fast and back again to slow, throughout the entire piece. There was an appearance of a few soloists including the oboe, clarinet, and saxophone. This movement ended with the entire orchestra leading to a final chorale that builds to a fortissimo climax. The next movement of the concert from Czechoslovakia, Three Revolutionary Marches, began dramatic with leaps and high range climaxes. The music of this piece perfectly portrays the ... In addition, I was impressed with the orchestra s ability to perform so favorably with the brilliant soprano soloist. My least favorite performance of the evening was Danceries. After hearing these independent pieces I was able to comprehend and respect the talent of the performers of Bob Jones University s music division. I can infer tis due to Ms. Temples full name being Maria Temple, Maria being the name of Jesus mother, and temple being a place of worship, combined showing a sort of pleasant, even sweet atmosphere. First of all, we see this when Hele gives us a brief description of Ms. Temple, Miss Temple is full of goodness: it pains her to be severe to anyone, even the worst in the school: she sees my errors, and tells me of them gently: and, if I do anything worth of praise she gives me my meed liberally (Bronte 67). With this in mind, we can clearly tell Miss Temples, pleasant nature, as she cares about Helen, correcting her faults just as a mother would, connecting back to her first name Maria. Moreover, we see her pleasant nature connect to her last name Temple by a description given by Jan, Miss temple had always something of serenity in her air, of state in her mien, of refined propriety in her languages... chastened the pleasure looked on her and listened to her (Bronte 86). For this reason, we see Miss Temples pleasant nature due to her having serenity, and people who look at her and listen to her, just as people would at a temple, being a pleasant experience for some. What is it that influences us as individuals to live as a man or as woman as well have the feelings of attraction to someone else? Furthermore, what is it that influences us to have those feeling to someone of the same sex? What does this all mean? Approximately 100 years ago a German physician by the name of Magnus Hirschfeld suggest that the brain of a fetus could possibly show early signs of whether or not a person would be of homosexual or heterosexual nature when they became an adult. Can testing and research really tell us how our innermost thoughts and feeling lead up to a preference of Sexual Orientation? Major changes took place in the early 19th century when homosexuality started to be looked at in a different light. Homosexuality started to be looked at and considered as part of nature. Up to this point the idea of homosexuality was considered wrong in many cultures as well as a punishable crime in some cases. Even though in ancient Greece the practice of homosexuality was accepted from a very young age, it was considered out of the norm outside of that culture. Through numerous research articles the question, what factors influence sexual orientation in male and females is studied. The research studied comes from research journal articles that have been published in the Journal of psychology and sociology. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Significance of Some Historical Incidences Significance of some historical happenings There are various significant historical incidences that took place several years in the past which left valuable lessons with the USA citizens and successive governments. Some of the events took place over 60 years ago but left a lasting mark among the people that prompted efforts to ensure these events do not happen again. This paper discusses several unfortunate incidences as well as measures that have been taken to mitigate the issues from happening again. • 8. The Theoretical Frameworks Within Social Psychology Essay Behaviorism is one of the main theoretical frameworks within social psychology, its main objective is to predict and control human behavior. The approach of this paper aims to provide a broad overview regarding to the historical background that contributed to the emergence of this theory, its founders, and their philosophical and methodological foundations of behaviorism. Behaviorism is primarily focused on observable behavior rather than on the thought process or emotion. This school of thought can be split into two main fields: Classical conditioning (Pavlov, Watson) and Operant conditioning (Thorndike, Skinner) Classical conditioning can be defined as reflexive or automatic type of learning in which a stimulus acquires the capacity to evoke a response that was originally evoked by another stimulus. (McLeod, 2013) This means taking a neutral stimulus and pairing it with an unconditional stimulus that provides the unconditioned response. Operant conditioning is not concerned with automatic responses or reflexes. The science behind operant conditioning is learned behavior and autonomous responses. It bases the responses on reward and punishment system to observe if it strengthens or weakens a certain conscious behavior. Dr. Ivan Pavlov was a Russian scientist who lived from 1849 1936. Light elaborates on how there is a straightforwardness in Nina s lyrics, and how it led to many people, mainly Nina s white counterparts straying away once she became more involved in the civil rights movement through music (100). With Simone s fearfulness, she created something that will be remembered as a protest song for years to come. In late 1865, Southern states began creating the set of laws that became known as the Black Codes, severely restricting the rights of the newly freed African Americans living in the South. The degree to which the Black Codes limited freedom of African Americans would eventually become one of the major motivations for the passage of first the Civil Rights Act of 1866, and finally, in 1868, the Fourteenth Amendment. It is reported to be a polymer with high molecular weight of N acetyl D glucosamine units which are linked by β D bonds, which has 1000 3000 units (Shahidi Abuzaytoun 2005). In similarity with cellulose, chitin has an acetamido group at its C2 postion unlike cellulose which has a hydroxyl group (Shahidi Abuzaytoun 2005). Figure 1 shows the structure of chitin, its derivative chitosan and cellulose. Figure 1: Structure of chitin, chitosan and cellulose, Source: (Shahidi Abuzaytoun 2005) Furthermore, discussing the structure of chitin, it is reported that chitin and chitosan are heteropolymers as compared to cellulose which is a homopolymer (Kumar R 2000). However, purchasing the Vulcan machine still remains to have the lower EAC. Thus, all other things equal, the purchasing the Vulcan seems to quantitatively be the better decision. There are also a few other small impacts which are not factored into the EAC. The Vulcan frees up 15% of floor space and also has a maximum capacity that is 30% higher than the current machines. Lopez expressed his discomfort when he spoke with the latter group, as those people that felt there was nothing wrong with killing wolves, and that the practice, overall, was a good thing. Lopez writes that it seemed many of these people appeared to be filled with a general hatred; of government, laws, and wolves. The killing of wolves held a vengeful element, with no remorse or regret. He goes into detail of the single minded persecution of the wolf, even though many of the conflicts with wolves were man made.
