The Salem Witch Trials Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of the Salem Witch Trials presents a multifaceted challenge.
Firstly, delving into historical events requires meticulous research to grasp the context, causes,
and consequences of the trials. Understanding the socio-political dynamics of 17th-century
Salem, Massachusetts, demands rigorous exploration of primary sources and scholarly analyses.
Additionally, the topic involves complex ethical considerations. Discussing the hysteria,
accusations, and executions of innocent individuals necessitates a sensitive approach to portray
the human tragedy without sensationalizing or trivializing the suffering endured by the victims.
Moreover, analyzing the broader implications of the Salem Witch Trials requires critical thinking
and the ability to draw parallels with contemporary issues. Exploring themes such as mass
hysteria, prejudice, and the abuse of power entails navigating through diverse perspectives and
interpretations, which adds another layer of complexity to the essay.
Furthermore, constructing a coherent narrative that seamlessly integrates historical facts,
theoretical frameworks, and personal insights demands strong writing skills and organizational
acumen. Effectively communicating the significance of the Salem Witch Trials while engaging
the reader and presenting a compelling argument requires clarity, precision, and creativity in
expression.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the Salem Witch Trials is a challenging endeavor that
demands rigorous research, sensitivity to ethical concerns, critical thinking, and strong writing
skills. However, navigating these challenges can lead to a profound understanding of historical
events and their enduring relevance.

Heroes In The Story Of Beowulf And Grendel
I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people.
Maya Angelou. This quote is very relevant throughout the stories of Beowulf and
Grendel. What does it take to be a hero? What type of people are usually heroes?
What qualifies anyone to be a hero? These are just a few of the many questions that
need to be kept in mind when trying to determine what makes a person a hero.
Usually, when people think of the word hero it has a positive connotation, and is
often times associated with super powered beings or humans with extraordinary
skills, such as Superman or Wonder Woman. According to Merriam Webster the
definition of a hero is, a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent

(Raffel, pg. 29), Beowulf claims that his only reason for being there is to defeat
Grendel and to win the goodwill , that is hard to believe. Grendel is basically an
indestructible evil giant with razor sharp teeth and huge claws. This is probably
one of Beowulf s greatest challenges. What better way to gain fame and glory than
by killing his greatest monster yet? Your actions are things that you do to be a hero,
but your motives and intentions determine if those actions actually matter. For
example, two children want to help an elderly woman find her dogs. There is a cash
reward for $100 per dog. They each find one dog. They are both awarded the reward
money. The first child helps find the dog because she loves dogs and thinks no dog
should be lost and away from there owner. The second child helps find the dog
because he just wants $100 dollars. Who is the hero in this case? They both found a
dog, so what does it matter, right?
The story of Beowulf portrays Grendel as this ignorant, bloodthirsty killing machine.
Grendel s hatred began, /...the monster relished his savage war/ On the Danes,
keeping the bloody feud/ Alive, seeking no peace, offering/ No truce, accepting no
settlement, no price/ In gold or land, and paying the living/ For one crime only with

Catholicism In America
On January 20, 1961, the first Catholic President of the United States of America was
sworn into office. John F. Kennedy held the office of the president during one of the
most turbulent times in the history of the United States; the Cold War was in full
swing, the Vietnam War was underway, the Civil Rights Movement was gaining
momentum, and America was undergoing a large cultural revolution. Many
important events required a variety of responses, and instrumental in JFK s
administration was his brother, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, the driving
force behind the focus on Civil Rights, and impactful in his meetings with the Soviet
Ambassador during the Cuban Missile Crisis. RFK continued his political career
after the untimely assassination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being the third son and seventh child, Robert was largely ignored by his father
Joseph, who focused on the accomplishments of Joe Jr. and Jack, but received
much attention from his devout mother. RFK preformed poorly in school, and was
perceived as an awkward loner. Despite this, he developed a keen sense of personal
morality, and was very devout in his faith. Trained as an alter boy, an action he
carried into adulthood, he attended Mass at his private Catholic school more than
necessary, and stayed after to pray, and invited others to Mass as well. Joining the
Navy in 1943, not deploying in the war, and being discharged in 1946, RFK had
been sidelined from the greatest test of his generation...while other men were
fighting and dying all over the world. a fact that never stopped haunting the man
who valued courage above all else. RFK s strong Irish Catholic faith was evident in
his loving and devoted marriage to Ethel Skakel, and their 11 children. Ethel had
absolute and literal faith in the Catholic Church [that] complemented RFK s devotion,
which was not quite as unquestioning.... In Ethel s purity Kennedy may have found
refuge from temptation. This spiritual trust and reliance was important to Robert as
he worked in politics, focusing on
Critical Thinking As A Critical Thinker
As humane beans we speak about critical thinking as a person who thinks thing out
very clear, with purpose and multifaceted ideas. This is somewhat true. Yes, that does
help to begin and mend a critical thinker but critical thinking also includes a
combination of skills. Those main characteristics are self awareness, honesty, open
mindedness discipline, and judgment. Using these characteristics daily and with
practice develops an amazing critical thinker. That person can live life solving hard
problems, creating new ways of solving them, and using new ideas and techniques
when needed.
Over time I realize that language and conversation is what shapes us and keeps
society together. Without it we would not be stable enough to continue to survive
and we would get nowhere. Using language and conversation is one way to
develop our critical thinking. One example would be in class; Ms. Daniels gave us
a list of words we had to associate to whether it was negative or positive. Everyone
had a different answer, not everyone agreed at first. But through conversation we
found a common ground. Using these lists of words allowed us to evaluate with our
own perspective on the subject, all while using critical thinking and reasoning to
make our own decision. In this process we were honest with our selves, and using
judgment from our past experiences while reflecting on them in order to decide and
make up our minds.
It is in our nature to be a critical thinker. Everyone can achieve it, but

Examples Of Blind Obedience In A Few Good Men
The act of being blindly obedient is, while frowned upon, widely common
throughout military branches. Young trainees are taught to always follow orders,
and never question their authority. In the film A Few Good Men, this question is
brought up in the murder case of Private William Santiago. Private Louden
Downey and Lance Corporal Harold Dawson were ordered to perform a Code Red on
Santiago because he broke the Marine Corps code. This code red ordered ended up
killing Private Santiago. The case against Dawson and Downey was sitting on the
fact that the two soldiers simply followed an order. This is not unlike the My Lai
massacredescribed in the article, The My Lai Massacre: A Military Crime of
Obedience by Herbert C. Kelman and V. Lee Hamilton. The My Lai massacre was
a deadly attack on what was supposed to be the Vietcong, but turned out to be only
villagers. The article talks about blind obedience done through the steps of
authorization, routinization, and dehumanization. The article The Abu Ghraib
Prison Scandal: Sources of Sadism by Marianne Szegedy Maszak talks about the
three traits of torture as well and the cause specifically of blind obedience by our
military. In A Few Good Men, Dawson and Downey are affected by the motivation
not to disobey an order as well as the three traits of torture to lead them to giving
Santiago, their platoon mate, a Code Red.
The three traits of torture are described as authorization, routinization, and
dehumanization. With these
The Effects Of Music Therapy On Children With Autism...
From 1997 to about 2007 the number of children with autism spectrum disorder has
increase from 42,517 to about 258,305 and has risen since (Reschke HernГЎndez,
2011). With this rise of children who have autism, the rise of music therapy has since
appeared greatly. When music therapy was first documented, the music was used in
both group and individual settings. It was used with those who lacked social skills,
those who needed rehabilitation, for self expression, for psychological improvement
and also recreational purposes (Rescheke HernГЎndez, 2011). Music therapist use
techniques such as improvisation music therapy, dancing and singing, speech
dynamics, and rhythm to help clients with social skills, body awareness and
communicationskills (Rescheke HernГЎndez, 2011). Children who are diagnosed
with Autism Spectrum Disorder can be treated through music therapyto enhance their
social skills, learning skills, and coordination.
Through the use of music children with autism are able to express themselves better
in these social situations. Children with autism are found to not be as engaged with
others in social situations as other children. Children with autism are found to have
impairment in their communication skills when they want to express themselves in a
social situation (Gattino, dos Santos Riesgo, Longo, Leite, Faccini, 2011). A study
done by Kim, Wigram, and Gold found that music therapy promotes social skills,
motivational and emotional development in children with

The internationally recognized South Korean electronics company, Samsung Group,
is accredited in the Fortune global top company but 2.5 decades prior, the company
was initially just a small domestic grocery store (Samsung, 2017; Lifewire, 2017).
The company s product quality, design, pricing, and technology has not always been
known as it is known in the past decade. Founder, Lee Byung chull, diversified his
products from food, textile, building, wool, insurance, security, retail and finally to
the success of electronics in the 1960s; before becoming one of the top five most
powerful Asian company in the world. Samsung s history is particularly longer than
most companies but the development towards their success is intriguing; revealing
multiple setbacks including the Korean War, and a long occurring transformation
before championing one of the best products in the electronics industry. Eventually,
Samsung reached global success, and through the Asian Tortoise Route, the brand
Samsung has become a prominent face of South Korea. The Asian Tortoise Route was

Story Of A Short Story
Short Story
Guys tonight has been an awesome night ,said Rebecca. I know right, that DJ skills
were on point and the dancing was even better, said Matt. Well I will see you
hopefully tomorrow for another awesome day on the beach , said Rebecca sleepily.
Well I will see you soon then , replied Matt. Goodnight , said them both very tired.
Rebecca slowly left Matt s blue Porsche with white racing stripes and slowly walked
back to her fancy hotel. She walks in the main entrance and rides the elevator with
bad music all the way up to the fourth floor. After she gets off, she walks to door
labeled 200; Rebecca puts her colorful keycard in the scanner and open the door to
her luxurious room. She all thought that her hotel was the best with it s bleach white
furniture, see blue drapes, and the amazing artwork, but her favorite part was the dark
brown mahogany hardwood floors. As usually Rebecca puts her keycard on the
granite kitchen counter and she heads for the bathroom, but something stops her, in
her tracks. This pungent, lung penetrating smell hit her hard in her nose. What
would be making this horrible smell ,she thought. Holding her nose she plunged
right in the heart of it, which was her bathroom. As she walked through the oak
wood door the smell only intensified, this did not stop her. Her eyes could not
believe what they saw, a man was lying dead with a bag that was duct tape around his
head. The expression only his face was pure terror and I will never forget it ,
Environmental Impacts Of Environmental Disasters
Introduction Environmental damage that is caused by just one individual is
exclusively minor which causes it to be unnoticed, whereas a major group of people,
such as a large corporation harming the environment at once causes major harm to
society. More than a century of industrial development has caused negative
environmental impacts such as global warming, ozone depletion, and air and water
pollution. These are recognized as global environmental problems that need
immediate solutions. Climate change, as an international environmental issue, is
getting a great deal of attention as it has become a global issue. In the last few
decades, there has been a heightened awareness of environmental issues by
governments, policy makers, advocacy groups, business firms, and the public all over
the world. The corporate role in this, the potentially most severe and all encompassing
of environmental disasters, is quite clear as business activities are effecting climate
change negatively. This paper will argue that in order to minimize the negative effect
of environmental harm and climate change, the undertakings of corporations should
be structured and encouraged to perform in a socially responsible manner. This will
be examined through the discussion on the legal structure of corporations and the
desire of regulators and victims looking to hold them accountable for their
environmental harm. It will be followed with a description of the importance of
corporate social responsibility. This

Robert Gordon s new book tells the history of Stax Records, the famous Memphis
label responsible for some of Southern soul s definitive recordings. Stax began in a
Memphis garage in 1957 as Satellite Records, a project of Jim Stewart, soon joined
by his sister Estelle Axton, both white. From these humble beginnings, it enjoyed a
fairy tale rise, becoming a revered name, the home of the great Otis Redding, of Soul
Man and In the Midnight Hour. Gordon tracks this glorious ascent and a vertiginous
fall as the label eventually collapsed under its own weight. He delivers a compelling
tale with maximum effect, drawing on interviews with singers, musicians,
songwriters, producers, secretaries, label heads everyone he could get his hands on....

More people came to the record store or tried their hands in the studio. A guitarist
named Johnny Jenkins showed up, high on style, low on substance. (In fairy tales,
not everyone turns out to be what he seems.) But Jenkins had this driver by the
name of Otis Redding who kept insisting he could sing... The MGs improved
steadily. Isaac Hayes stepped in for Booker T when he took a break to attend
Indiana University, and Hayes quickly learned how to write popular tunes, with
the help of an insurance man named David Porter. Hayes and Porter connected
with another duo by the name of Sam Dave, collaborating on a series of bracing
soul hits. Enter promo man extraordinaire, Al Bell, six feet four bundle of joy, two
hundred and twelve pounds of Miss Bell s baby boy. Soft as medicated cotton and
rich as double X cream. The women s pet, the men s threat and the playboy s pride
and joy. In addition to his business talent, Bell, as a black man, Gordon writes,
would enhance the administration s credibility among the [mostly black]
employees. We weren t a professional company before Al, says Booker T. Jones. We
didn t have big business going on. We had big music going on. They did have that.
Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Sam Dave now consistently landed hits and all

Surveillance In Glen Greenwald s TED Talk
Glen Greenwald starts his TED talk with a scenario that the majority of people are
familiar with. When a person thinks they are alone, they do something
embarrassing, and someone else sees. He then turns this scenario around to the
idea that people will do something, whether it s good or not, as long as nobody sees
them. This is where the concept of mass surveillance comes into play. The common
response to mass surveillance is basically that if a person isn t doing anything wrong
then they have nothing to hide. One of Greenwald s main point on why this is a
such a destructive mindset, is because it means there is only two kinds of people,
good and bad. The good people have nothing to hide, meaning the high amount of
surveillance doesn t matter

Based on the information provided in the scenario, and according to the Center for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the initial medications would likely include
isoniazid orally at 5mg/kg/day, rifampin orally at 10mg/kg/day, pyrazinamide orally
16mg/kg/day, and ethambutol orally at 20mg/kg/day. These medications would be
used until the results of drug susceptibility tests became available and it was
determined what strain of bacterium was causing the Tuberculosis. If it were indicated
that we needed to treat a multi drug resistant bacterium, medications would be
adjusted at that time. Based on the patient s country of origin alone, no medication

Furthermore, In order to substantiate the positive chest x ray an automated nucleic
acid amplification test (NAA) or a blood analysis using QuantiFERON TB Gold

will require TB skin tests or TB blood tests. Prior to that we would need to know if
they have received a bacilli Calmette Guerin (BCG) vaccine because this will result
in a positive skin test even if they are negative to TB. (Blair, et al. 596) If any of
these TB tests come back positive, then the same testing given to the father would

measure of any induration (localized swelling with hardening of tissue) perceived

induration is a negative finding. Moreover, the CDC specifies that an induration of

greater in an immunosuppressed patients or someone who has recently been in
contact with an infected person should also considered
Essay On Measles
The recent outbreak of measles in the United States can be blamed on the fact that
many people are refusing to have their children vaccinated against the disease. The
refusal of this vaccination seems to stem from fear of what the vaccine might cause.
Whether the vaccine does or doesn t cause Autism should not matter at this point
because a world wide Measlesoutbreak would be more detrimental than any case of
Autism. Measles has not been across the board in the United States for
approximately a decade, until 2014. There were 603 cases from January 1st to
October 31st. In 2015, from January 1st to February 6th, there was 121 more cases
reported (Pewresearch). With all the vaccines we have today, there should not be as
many measles outbreak in the United States as there has been in the past year... ,
says Dr. Jamie Akins, a physician at Texoma Pediatrics in Durant, Oklahoma. This
virus can almost be prevented by your child being vaccinated with the two doses of
the MMR vaccine. These two vaccines prevent your child from getting the measles
virus by 97%. The first of the MMR should be given at the age of 12 15 months of

Theme Of Childhood In Catcher In The Rye
Childhood: a time when kids are the purest and hidden from the dangers of the adult
hood. In J.D Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye the main character, sixteen year old
Holden Caulfield faces many challenges over the course of a long weekend in which
he adulterates the innocence he tries so hard to hold on to. After losing his younger
brother to illness, Holden finds himself alienating the world around him and pushing
people that he loves, and that love him away. The novelis set in a cold and dour 1950
New York after Holden is kicked out of one of the many boarding schools that he has
already attended. Salinger expresses throughout the novel that Holden is not fond of
the ideas that are associated with adulthood and thus he desperately tries to hold on to
the innocence linked with childhood.
Throughout the novel, Salinger regularly connects the innocence that he believes
childhood possesses with Holden s erratic behavior. For example, Salinger writes,
The only thing that would be different would be you. Not that you d be so much
older or anything. It wouldn t be that exactly. You d just be different, that s all
(Salinger 135). In this quote, Holden has returned to a museum that he frequently
visited as a kid. Salinger confirms that Holden appreciates when situations that
remind him of his youth are still the same. He explains that although Holden is very
different as his brother has passed and he has made some controversial choices, the
museum is the same. This helps
Essay On The Boston Marathon Bombing
The Boston Marathon bombing terrorist attack that took place a short distance from
the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. A pair of homemade bombs
detonated in the crowd watching the race, killing 3 people and injuring more than
260 (Boston Marathon Bombing). Many people were hurt, physically or mentally, by
this attack. Because of this the bombing lead to the all out lockdown and manhunt in
the bostonarea. The act of terrorism committed by the Tsarnaev brothers will forever
be remembered by everyone there. Including the semi famous Carlos Arredondo,
otherwise known as The Man in a Cowboy Hat.
The day of April 15, 2013 will forever be remembered as a day of sorrow and cruelty
in the eyes of americans. On that day two pressure cooker bombs were put in
backpacks that were placed on the ground among the crowd of people watching the
boston marathon, and exploded within seconds of eachother. The bombs killed
three people and injured more than 260. Accordingly, this wasn t going to just be

The Pros And Cons Of Mortgage
If finances had a copyright, we would have bought it by now. But it is hardly sold
anywhere near the place we live. So, when we decide to take a mortgage it
becomes highly perplexing for it is something you are not used to. Taking out a
mortgage is not like an everyday errand. Mortgage in the simplest terms mean long
term loan used to finance the purchase of real estate. As the borrower, or mortgagor,
you repay the lender, or mortgagee, the loan principal plus interest, gradually building
your equity in the property. In a mortgage, you can use your property but not the title
of it. When you pay the mortgage, you own the property.
You must have heard that interest rates on mortgage are at their lowest. There is no
doubt that they are declining, lending new opportunities to homeowners to get the
financial funding they require. Mortgage has become more competitive and easy to
get. Competition among loan lender is rising therefore it has lot of potential for
homeowners. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this kind of mortgage is not meant for every borrower. Each Interest only
mortgage is meant to cater to the needs of a specific kind. It is very fundamental to
learn about the interest only mortgages before you apply for one. The interest only
mortgages are endowment mortgage, individual savings account mortgage, pension
mortgages.
In this highly elaborate work structure of mortgages it is pivotal to find the precise
mortgage. Precise mortgage type requires some basic steps which begin with
knowing what you want. Loan borrower must be very clear about their requirements
and their limitations. Once you know which mortgage type to take make
comparisons. Compare the mortgage types. Mortgage is essentially a buyer s market.
Shop around. Compare the APR. The real comparison is through comparing the APR,
which is the annual percentage rate. The APR takes all the costs into account: the
application fee, the mortgage lenders valuation and so

American heritage intertwined with various allusions to it. This cooperative effort is
seen throughout the poem and is contrasted with the the ideals of modern science.
This conflict of beliefs creates controversy within both communities, the argument of
myth versus fact.

Thesis: Reality, in the eyes of Native Americans, is determined by the past, by the
stories/myths their culture has preserved, while modern science contradicts their

Classical Art Through The 1700s
How has the Classical tradition (the art of Greece and Rome) continued to affect art
through the 1700s? In what way have artists also turned away from the Classical
tradition?
Although the question specifically addresses through the 1700s (UoPeople, 2017), I
will go ahead and discuss art from the 1400s through the 1700s, chronologically, since
that s what Unit 4 covers.
Starting in the 1400s during the Renaissance era., we can see how the Classical
tradition of appreciating the human body and form carried over into Donatello s
sculpture of David.
Looking at the sculpture, we can immediately see the similarities between these two
time periods. The carefully sculpted muscles, the nude presentation, and the
contrapposto are all representative of the Classical period, indicating that the artists
during the Renaissance period had an interest in creating a more natural look (Harris
and Zucker, n.d.). However, Donatello s use of bronze as the medium is where this
sculpture differs from the traditional stone that the Ancient Greeks and Romans chose
to work with. Also, while the Classical period is known for using idealistic
proportions, the Renaissance artists lean toward more natural proportions. ... Show

In addition to the Classical tradition of using idealistic forms, artists like Caravaggio
used new techniques, such as tenebrism and chiaroscuro (a strong contrast between
light and dark), tightly cropped compositions , and diagonal lines to engage the

Sir Thomas More s Utopia And Niccolo Machiavelli s The...
Sir Thomas More s Utopia and Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince reflect the ideals of
the Renaissance. Their reflections of the Renaissance are similar; however, their
representations of the Renaissance also have distinct differences. The Renaissance or
rebirth was a cultural movement that accompanied the passage of Europe from the
Middle Ages to modern times. Niccolo Machiavelli was an Italian civic humanist,
historian, diplomat, philosopher, politician, and writer during the Renaissance. He
applied the values of the Renaissance to his political treatise, The Prince. Sir Thomas
was an English lawyer, philosopher, statesman, and humanist during the Renaissance.
He employed the ideals of the Renaissance to his Latin dialogue, Utopia. Both The
Prince and Utopia reflect the ideals of the Renaissance through their promotion of
education, humanism, and reform. There are, nevertheless, differences in how The
Prince and Utopia reflect the Renaissance. Both Sir Thomas More s Utopia and
Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince reflect the ideals of the Renaissance; however, they
diverge in their reflections through their views towards realism, idealism, morality,
religion, and rhetoric which demonstrates that the Renaissance was a diverse cultural
movement in early modern Europe. A variety of events from the eleventh century to
the fourteenth century ignited the Renaissance. The Crusades prompted the
Renaissance through the weakening of the feudal nobility and the laity s
The Masculine Crisis In Manhattan Transfer
2. Constant Vigilance! The Masculine Crisis in Manhattan Transfer Affect is crucial
to understanding Dos Passos s approach to characterization because of how he
chooses to express his characters thoughts and feelings. Frequent use of stream of
consciousness and infrequent use of precise physical or mental descriptions forces
readers to assume almost everything about the characters. Often, we have to interpret
their vocal tones or physical actions for ourselves based purely on dialogue alone,
but with the way dialogue unfolds, many times the readers are following characters as
they come to realizations themselves. Affect which Figlerowicz defines as how much
more quickly our brains might work than we consciously know them to, accurately...

How Directors Work with Actors
Scope of the essay:
The essay investigates how a director should communicate and work with actors
during rehearsal and on set to produce engaging performances. The essay investigates
different acting styles, the rehearsal process, directing on set and communication
between actors and director. The essay assumes the actor has formal training and basic
experience. The essay then proves effective communication achievable through the
actor s vocabulary is key not to over direct and building trust with the actor.
The Hypothesis:
If an engaging performance is dependant on effective communication between
director and actor, then studying what an actor needs communicated to him by the
director will ensure the actor understands the ... Show more content on

He weaves the soul of the person he is to portray out of emotions that were dearer to
him than everyday sensations (Stanislavsky, K: 1936).
I believe this is one of the most effective ways of acting, but in modern cinema this
techniques has often been described as dangerous to the actor s mental health. This
is because the actor creates a new character by using his own experiences and
reawakens emotional trauma that is part of his own life, and not that of solely the
character.
The following exercise allows the actor to focus their senses to become more
receptive to sense memory.
The actors should begin by focusing on the three dominant senses: sight, sound and
touch. The actor should then choose an object that appeals to these senses and start to
explore it intensely. The actor should become aware of which sense is the most
dominant and record the finding to discuss afterwards.
Next, the actor should assume a comfortable position and focus all attention on a
single stimulus such as a colour, sound, texture etc.) This should carry on for about 5
minutes, after which the findings should be documented and discussed (Taylor, J.
2001).
I feel that these exercises are useful if performed before rehearsals by only the actor.
The experiences the actor gained through these exercises should only be available for
recall during rehearsals. It is not important for the director to know how or where the
How Warfare Techniques Have Changed The Construction
Of A...
There are many Warfare methods created for a castle. For instance, there is the
Trebuchet, there are the battlements (Merlins and Embrasures), the catapults, and
much more! I ll be telling you how these warfare techniques have changed the
construction of the castles!!
The first thing I will be telling you about is the Trebuchet, A trebuchet is a catapult
like engine which uses a swinging arm to throw a projectile at the enemy. It is used to
throw rocks (Boulders), dead animals and humans, fireballs, and much more things.
Trebuchets were apart of the attacking defending team of the castles. This means that
this would cost money because the people in the castle would need to get supplies.
The reason the Trebuchets influenced castle construction is that when the people of
the castle new that the enemies would have the trebuchets they would need to build
higher walls so when things start to fly at the castle they would want to have
something that would block the flying obstacles. ... Show more content on

They look like mini/small walls that go up and down around all of the castle walls.
The reasons the Merlins and Embrasures are influenced construction is because
when there was a war these would act as little barriers for when archers would
shoot, the defenders would duck because they would not be hit by arrows, boulders,
and more. This is why Merlin and Embrasures were influenced for castle

Black Cat Abolitionist
Longing for Liberation: Abolitionists and Women s Rights in The Black Cat In his
short story The Black Cat , Edgar Allan Poe constructs an allegory mirroring the
struggles of slavery and the abolitionist movement. Wrought with the tribulations of
slavery in 1840s, Poe s short story exemplifies the issues facing the Antebellum
United States by representing different participants in the horrors of slavery. Poe s
characters embody the roles of the slave master, the slave, and the abolitionist.
Initially, the narrator, or the slave master figure, introduces the audience to his
pleasant childhood disposition and love of animals. His temperament reflects society
uncorrupted by slavery. Once the narrator feels the effect of slavery in owning a black

Previously untouched by the horrors of slavery, the woman owns the pets , or
slaves, alongside her husband. As he mistreats the animals, he also begins to
mistreat her. As Poe writes, The moodiness of [the narrator s] usual temper
increased to hatred of all things and all of mankind... and ungovernable outbursts
of a fury...[his] uncomplaining wife, alas! was the most usual and most patient of
sufferers (699). Touched by the repercussions of the corruption of slavery, the
previously uncomplaining and docile wife immediately recognizes the evil in her
husband s attempted murder of another black cat, another slave. As the narrator, or
the slave owner, swings an ax to kill the slave, she grabs his hand in an attempt to
stop him. He turns on her, driving the ax into her brain. Utilizing diction like wrath
, hideous , and demonical , Poe creates a grotesque image of carnage as the slave
watches the abolitionist cut down by the oppressive slave owner and the woman
beat into silence by the oppressive patriarchy. The slave owner entombs the woman
s body in the cellar of their home. Unbeknownst to the master, the slave remains
with the body of the woman reflecting the solidarity between the Woman s Rights
Movement and the slaves. When police come looking for the wife, the slave cries
out a wailing shriek, half of horror and half of triumph...from the throats of the
damned in their agony and of the demons that exult in the damnation (Poe 701). In
this moment, the slave embodies the cries of the thousands of slaves and women not
only stripped of their rights, but also robbed of their lives by the violence of the

burden of establishing that his own Fourth Amendment rights were violated by the

words, the Fourth Amendment depends on the property rights were violated
because the person is claiming that they had a reasonable expectation of privacy in
the invaded place. (Rakas v. Illinois, supra, 439 U.S. at p.143.) In order to prove
that the defendant has standing to challenge the validity of a search, the defendant
must show that there is an actual subjective expectation of privacy and that the
subjective expectation of privacy is one that the society recognizes as reasonable.
(Smith v. Maryland (1979) 442 U.S. 735, 740.) Additionally, under the Fourth
Amendment, all warrantless searches are per se unreasonable unless there is a
warrantless exception then officers need a warrant to conduct a search and seizure
of a person s home. (U.S. Const. amend. IV.) (A)Mr. Meyers has Standing to

Beowulf And Grendel Comparison
Beowulf, known as the oldest poem in the written English language, written with no
known author, tells a fascinating story involving an epic hero of his time and a not
so understood monster. The hero s name is Beowulf, purposefully being the same
title as the poem itself, he sets out on a journey from his home to the Danes from a
terrible creature that s harming innocent people. As any hero would. Beowulfwants to
prove to himself and the people that he is, in fact, the strongest man on earth.
Although Beowulf is a fine piece of writing on its own, it fails to tell all of the
story, just like any other one sided story does. But, thanks to the novel, Grendel,
written by John Gardner, we get to peek inside the villain s life for a change, which
ultimately very well may change the reader s view of the story completely. These
two versions of the same story are told from two different perspectives, Grendel s
(the monster) and Beowulf s (the epic hero), the story told in Beowulf s favor
insinuates that Grendel is a terrible monster with no soul, whose whole life is
dedicated to killing anything and everything in his sight. However, in Grendel, we
see a completely different side of Grendel that isn t over shadowed by the hatred
that the people have on Grendel. In the book, Grendel, we learn about Grendel, and
how he feels about himself. We are taken on a journey through the last twelve
months of Grendel s life and what lead up to his, as some would have described it in

An ethnomethodology will be conducted to understand the relationship between
President Trump and the people of the nation. As ethnomethodology interprets the
opinions of the people, not focusing on what is right or wrong, but how what is
said or done is interpreted. This study will attempt to learn how our President will
influence how the people will respond to him. In America and society in general,
social responses are seemingly just as important as fact based responses. How
America views our president and responds to the president as a nation will give
guidance as to his impact on the country. The interaction of the President and the
people will be essential to understand the ethnomethodology, making sense of these
connections will be crucial. The goal is to understand the practices by which society
make sense of their worlds. To better understand the impact of President Trump, from
an ethnomethodology standpoint, a roundtable conversation will take place. Utilizing

Genetic Mutation
In biology, term mutation has been described as changes to the base pair sequence of
the genetic material of an organism. Mutations can be caused by: copying errors in
the genetic material during cell division, by exposure to ultraviolet or ionizing
radiation, chemical mutagens, or viruses, or can occur deliberately under cellular
control during processes such as hypermutation. In multicellular organisms, mutations
can be subdivided into germ line mutations, which can be passed on to descendants,
and somatic mutations, which cannot be transmitted to descendants in animals.
Plants sometimes can transmit somatic mutations to their descendants asexually or
sexually (in case when flower buds develop in somatically mutated part of plant). A...

Instead there is an abnormal type of hemoglobin S that is inherited as an
autosomal inherited trait. This disease produces chronic anemia, which may
become life threatening when hemolytic crises (the breakdown of redblood cells)
or aplastic crises (bone marrow fails to produce blood cells) occur. The incidence
of this disorder is 1/400 African Americans and 8/100,000 people. The
manifestations of this disease are a result of the fragility and inflexibility of the
sickle red bloodcells. When exposed to a lack of water, infection, and low oxygen
supply, these delicate red blood cells take the shape of a crescent. This then causes
blood cell devastation and thickening of the blood. Sickle cell anemia has the
potential to be life threatening and can affect other body systems and parts of the
body. Those included are the nervous system, bones, the kidneys and the liver.
Maternal PKU is a genetic disorder that stems from point mutation. 1/15,000 people

retardation in infant fetuses. Children in the fetus begin with a normal amount of
phenylalanine hydroxylase but are affected by the mother s elevated phenylalanine
level due to the imbalance of prenatal amino acid. Mental deficiency is clearly
evident in disorder and usually consists of I.Q.s of 50.
African American Women And The Civil Rights Movement
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Even though African American women have played vital roles in social justice
movements, they are often overshadowed because of their gender. Only a few
organizations like Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) gave more
access for female leadership. But more often than none, women had informal
positions of leadership.
Because of gender norms in the 1960 s, society was resistant toward women in power
and leadership, especially African Americanones. Even though African American
women had the traits, skills, and personalities to be formal leaders of social justice
movements like the Civil Rights Movement, they were never given a platform to do
so, mostly because their leadership wouldn t be recognized as legitimate ... Show

Wether it was recruitment, mobilization, or obtaining and securing resources, African
American women were the backbone and the unsung heros of these movements.
Given the context of the times, the period 1954 65, women who participated in the
civil rights movement experienced unprecedented power (Robnett 1996).
African American women have been major actors in social activism since their
arrival in the Americas. They have used various strategies like writing articles and
books, organizing demonstrations and more to create cultural change. Using the
pressure of racism and sexism, African American women created a space for a
unique form of leadership that encapsulated both cultural and political, more formally
know as bridge leadership.
POLITICS
African American women s leadership in the community is translating into political
power. What has once been seen as a political liability, gender and race, is now
turning into political capital. Just as African American women used their exclusive
perspective to further social justice movements, they are using that it in the political
world and are being just as successful. Their presence in local, state, and federal
government is increasing. Because of their ability to connect to those they represent
and think outside of the box, African America women are becoming very successful
political actors. Since they are able to weave traditional

Besides that, revolution might be the quickest and most effective way to bring about
necessary changes. In order to force the elites to surrender their power to the working
society.
In Marx theory, it would say human are more materialism compare to idealism.
Most of us will think that socialism is being idealist which is a nice idea but
unrealistic. Whereas, idea of socialism and Marxism are practical and realistic
because it was based on analyzing the real society world and how it works actually.
Idealism were original mean a trend within philosophy. Those idealists thought that
ideas come first and follow by material as a result of these ideas. They would think
that changes in material reality were caused by ideas and not by material forces.
However, Marx recognise that ideas play an important role in social change and
Marxists are materialists which against the philosophical sense. In materialists,
human society and history is shaped by material social and economic forces, real
things and processes and ideas are the reflection of this material reality. Marxists
believe that human society is based on material forces. Which means for human

as food, shelter, water and etc. All these are material things that human society needs
in order to survive. But how human society produce these necessities, who controls

The Important Role of Skeletal Muscles in the Human
Body...
Skeletal muscles play a huge role in the way our bodies function because without
muscles, our bones would not properly be held together. Most of the body s muscle
tissue is skeletal muscle. It interacts with the skeleton to move body parts. It s long,
thin cells are called fibers and they have more than one nucleus. Their structure gives
them a striped look. The muscles are considered voluntary, which means that the
contractions can be controlled. A skeletal musclecontains bundles of muscle cells.
Inside each cell are threadlike myofibrils, which are divided into sarcomeres, the unit
of contraction. They are bundled together by connective tissue that extends past it to
form tendons. A tendon is a strap of dense connective... Show more content on

The cells are packed with myoglobin, a reddish protein that binds oxygen for the
cell s use in making ATP. They are served by a large number of capillaries. The
cells contract fairly slowly therefore, the slow cells are well equipped to make ATP.
Fast or white muscles, are found in the hand and have fewer capillaries. There are
fewer mitochondria and less myoglobin. Fast muscles can contract rapidly and
powerfully for short periods. Muscle of the back and leg are called postural muscles,
because they aid body support. Postural muscles must contract for long periods when
a person is standing. They have a high proportion of red muscle cells. A muscle
contracts when its cell shortens. When a muscle cell shortens, many units of
contraction inside that cell are shortening. Each of these basic units of contraction is
a sarcomere. Bundles of cells in a skeletal muscle run parallel with the muscle. This is
because the arrangement tries to focus the force of a contracting muscle onto a bone
in the same direction. The nervous system controls muscle contractions. The motor
neuron begins contraction of the sarcomeres. When the signal arrives, it spreads
rapidly and will ultimately reach small extensions of the cell s plasma membrane. The
extensions connect with a membrane system, called the sarcoplasmic reticulum,
which release Calcium ions. Impulses stimulate muscle cells, which arrive at the
neuromuscular junction, where the motor neuron s endings never touch a
The Romanticism Period By William Cullen Bryant
First of all, the Romanticism Period is all about the ideas of nature, beauty, fantasy,
and love, not necessarily having to do with a boy and a girl. As for Realism
behind all the weird and beautiful ideas to live happily ever after, the people
realized the problems were not fixed with the Civil War. Therefore, the people
started to convert into Realism seeing the world focusing on details, facts, and the
people. The two periods follow each other because the time the world came to a
revolution which the people know till this day. Such as William Cullen Bryant, who
was a Romantic writer of To a Waterfowl and believed, creating a natural scene to
teach a lesson. Thou rt gone, the abyss of heaven hath swallowed up thy form; yet,
on my heart, (Bryant) which the critics have suggested, a more universal image to
help in conveying his theme of the poem by blending the scenes from his reflection.
(Philip) Leaving a clear view of something floating over things and vanishing through
the horizon. Other Romantic writer is Edgar Allan Poe, which wrote Annabel Lee a
poem about his love one that passed away. He believed that even as children he and
his Annabel Lee love for each other was strong that even angels wanted love like it.
For example, And so, all the nigh tide, I lie down by the side of my darling, my
darling, my life, and my bride. In her sepulcher, a monument there by the sea, in her
tomb by the side of the sea. (Locklear) Is creepy, weird and the most romantic idea

The major theme of the book is the concept of games. The context of the games
helps interpret the other important ideas of the novel. The more the story unfolds,
the harder it becomes to separate the games from reality. Ender s final game had a
profound impact on his life, and it was, in fact, reality itself and not just a game as
he had originally thought. Another theme is the relationship between children and
adults. The children s lives are constantly contrasted with the lives of the adults.
The children are capable of killing, manipulating, and hating, which are the worst
features of adults, but they are also capable of creating and helping. Friends and
enemies are another theme of the novel. Whether or not someone is a friend or
enemy is never entirely clear. In the end, the ones who Ender thought were
enemies, turned out to be friendly. Card proves that there are no clear distinctions
between friends and enemies. The point of view in Ender s Game is that of the
characters. It is not, however, limited to one character. Most of the novel is told in
Ender s perspective, but there are parts, even whole chapters, where the point of
view is switched to that of Valentine s, one of the adult s, or even Peter s. There are
parts of the story where the commanders are talking about Ender and his progress .
While in Valentine s point of view, the reader learns about what is happening on
earth while Ender is in space. The point of view basically fills in all the holes for the

language is easier for all of the workers to communicate as a group. In addition to
making it easier to communicate there are also several other reasons why New
York workers use slang terms. First of all, the garbage men are working in the hot
summer. In paragraph four it says It makes disgusting items not so disgusting.
Using other words like mongo and Disco rice is looking at the trash in a different

Michelangelo and The Sistine Chapel Frescos Essay
On the 10th of May 1508 I signed a contract to agree to fulfill Pope Julius
commission on painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. I had bad feelings about
thewhole thing from the day Julius commissioned me to paint instead of sculpt. I am
anarchitect and sculptor not a fresco painter. It is not that I doubt my ability s to
completesuch a task, but I believe that there are other artists that would be much
better suited for the job than I. It is of course an honor to be chosen to paintsuch a
ceiling and Julius isfar to stubborn to find anyone else but myself, so I will paint and
I will make it one of thegreatest frescopaintings there will ever be.(Brandes, 254).

I sent my assistants back to Florence because I knew that this was my vision andmy
responsibility to paint this ceiling. I started today with The Drunkenness of Noah,
itis so uncomfortable to paint in this position that I must be in to paint such a
ceiling. Itsometimes makes me wonder why I am here. I will paint this ceiling, not
for the popeand not for the Romans but for myself, to fell proud of my own work.
To show the reality in this painting of Noah I will place him collapsed on theground
next to a jug of wine. His sons will be around him giving him support andcomfort
as he struggles to understand what God s plan is for him and his family. Noah
issuch a peaceful man with a lot on his mind and this is how I will paint him.
(Camesasca,
91).
I am now working on The Flood. This painting brings out a lot of emotion in
me,there is a sense of fear and terror among the crowd of people who are about to
be wipedaway from the earth. I want the wind to be a great force in this fresco to
give the effectof a great storm. The trees are about to be uprooted and the people will
run for shelterand higher ground. This painting of the great
A Career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner I would like to go into the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
career field. Pediatric Nurse Practitioners help Pediatricians and other Physicians
diagnose and take care of children from infancy to young adults. I have grown up
with ten siblings and many more cousins, so I have learned how to deal with
children of all ages. Also, I have been interested in the medical field since I was a
little girl and I have always loved to help people. I would have liked to be a
Pediatrician but I would prefere not be in school for another thirteen years, so I found
that the Pediatric Nurse Practitionerwas the perfect career for me. In the mid
twentieth century, doctors started working with nurses who had clinical
experience because they needed more people in specialized and primary care.
Health coverage like Medicaid and Medicare were offered to low income women,
children, elderly and disabled people in the mid 1960 s. Because of the affordable
coverage, more people then requested the need to have primary care, and because
there were not enough doctors to go around to everyone that could afford the care,
the nurses felt that they could take on the important responsibility. The training
program for the nurse practitioners, developed by Nurse Loretta Ford and Doctor
Henry Silver, was based on the well being of children and their families. The growing
interest for primary care, according to Ford, was one of the reasons for the creation
of Nurse
Amish Technology
Technology has been ruining our lives since its inception back in the 23,460 BCE
revolution of the cavemen, when the people rushed to the mall to buy the new
iOoga (now with more stone). You may be thinking Hasn t technology made our
lives easier? I can get any information in 30 seconds! . You may even be right
(shocker). However, this kind of information is the very cause of our downfall. It
ruins our lives by killing us, taking our jobs and happiness, and killing the
environment. I humbly offer a solution that all citizens of the world are to be made
Amish, and block technology from our lives all together. The Amish are a very
peaceful, old fashioned religious society where most, if not all technology is banned.
Most importantly, a vast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the use of cars, gasoline and electric (yes, even your Prius or Tesla is not
helping), the ozone layer is depleted more and more, and permanently. Electric cars
still require the same amount of metal and leather and other resources to build as non
electric cars, so they are not better in that vein. Your electric cardoesn t need gas, but
it still might get its energy from burning carbon. It depends on how your local grid
generates electricity. If you use coal fired power plants to produce the electricity,
then all electrics don t even look that much better than a traditional vehicle in terms
of greenhouse gases (Wade, par 4). As these cars are not more environmentally
friendly than cars and other motorized vehicles, the horse and buggy proves to be a
much more superior choice of transport, powering over even the one of a kind
Lamborghini Aventador (which has 750 horsepower, impeccable brakes, and
phenomenal steering). The Amish way of life is far cleaner to the environment,
and if the world s humans convert immediately, then the world may yet be saved.
Scientists have concluded that most of the observed warming is very likely due to
the burning of coal, oil, and gas (Carroll, par 1). The Amish do not need to mass
farm fish or whale oil. They do not need to melt the ice caps in their path of survival,
and they

This was my third visit to my site. It was a Sunday and when I got to my site, I
experience something different this time. As I reached to the gate, the security
person didn t stop me or note my car number but he told me to proceed inside the
temple. I get to the backside of parking lot of the temple. After looking for a while, I
found empty space to park my car. I parked my car and when I got out from my car, I
saw so many people from the parking lot were walking toward the temple. I was
surprise seeing the parking lot full of cars. As I start walking toward the temple, I
saw one old woman look like age of more than 70 was holding her son hand and
hardly able to walk with the support of her son. Her son was carrying baby on one
hand and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were people everywhere inside the temple. I saw that most of the male were
wearing the white cloths and female were wearing the Indian sari. There were two
shoe racks (the shoe rack was in room) in the Haweli one for female and another
for male. People were waiting in line to take out their shoes before go inside the
main temple. The time was 11:45a.m. When i was waiting in the line to take out
my shoes before I go inside the main temple. I heard one guy, was wearing white
clothes, long beard, moustache, and U shape and red dot symbol on his forehead,
saying his wife that hurry up the temple will be closed in 15 minutes. I surprised
hearing those words from that guy, I thought there are so many people come here to
pray the God and to see the God statue, why the temple will closed? The temple
was full of people because it was Sunday. All the religious programs happen at the
temple on Sunday because on Sunday most of the people have off from work so they
can come with their whole family.
After took out my shoes I start walking toward the main temple and I saw people
were rushing to the main temple. I saw one woman was carrying her child and was
climbing the stairs so quickly. Her sari was coming on her feet and once in rushing
she almost fell but she still continued to get to the main temple quickly. I thought why
in the world she is in that much hurry, she was carrying her child, and she almost

DT algorithms perform a variety method of nominal attributes and can t handle
continuous ones directly. As result, an outsized variety of ml and applied math
techniques will solely be applied to information sets composed entirely of nominal
variables. However, an awfully giant proportion of real information sets embrace
continuous variables: that s variables measured at the interval or magnitude relation
level. One answer to the present drawback is to partition numeric variables into
variety of sub ranges and treat every such sub range as a class. This method of
partitioning continuous variables into classes is sometimes termed discretization.
Sadly, the quantity of how to discretize a continual attribute is infinite. Discretization
could be a potential long bottleneck, since the variety of attainable discretization is
exponential within the number of interval threshold candidates at intervals the
domain [14]. The goal of discretization is to seek out a collection of cut points to
partition the range into a little variety of intervals that have sensible category
coherence, that is sometimes measured by an analysis operate. Additionally to the
maximization of reciprocality between category labels and attribute values, a perfect

Social Injustice Book Review
Social Injustice Book Review
Injustice: why social inequality persists, by Daniel Dorling.
The main aim of this book is to help re define injustice but first we must ask
ourselves what is social justice? As defined by (Walker, 1999, p.9). Social justice is
mutual responsibility it insists that we all accept duties as well as rights to each other
and to society .
Dorling s book focuses on 5 main causes of injustice in todays modern world and
how these 5 causes have changed in comparison to what they were in the past. The
path to a better future, these contend, lies in a better understanding and appreciation
of how the injustices of the past affect patterns of oppression today (Spinner Halev,
2012, p.4). What was once seen as unfortunate many years ago has now become
what s known as unjust . Dorling does an excellent job of explaining what these 5
tenants of injustice are and he does so in an easy to understand language whilst
giving us examples of how these 5 tenants have changed to prior years. Each tenant
both past and present is briefly explained to us in the introduction of the book, but
Dorling delves deeper into each tenant in such greater detail in later chapters. Each
chapter shows us how these tenants affect/have affected certain domains within our
society.
These new tenants/faces of injustice nowadays are stated as: Elitism, Exclusion,
Prejudice, Greed and Despair. Old evils/faces that were once said to cause social
injustice were due to a lack of: Education (ignorance), Money (want) Work (idleness)
Comfort (squalor) and Health (disease).
Dorling points out that while many people say they don t agree with these beliefs or
claim to reject them, are often at times the ones to uphold ... Show more content on

Act Utilitarian
Final Project Part 2 Utilitarian Ethics: act and rule Definition of Act Utilitarian
The goal of an act utilitarian is to maximize a person s overall happiness in the
universe. With an act utilitarian the goal will be to Maximize pleasure and
minimize pain (Waller, 2005, p.49). An act utilitarian says that people could do
that and they would not only make everyone happier but they would also be doing
what is morally right. An act utilitarian doesn t have conflicts over any action being
right or wrong. Example of Act Utilitarian A coach of a kid s basketball has to play
each kid every game. At the same time the coach would like to win all the games to
get to the championship. But there are two kids that have no idea how to... Show more

You see your child run into a busy street. A car is driving very fast toward the
child. You see that you can save the child s life if you run into the street and grab
the child in your arms. Realizing this, do you now stop and calculate how much
happiness you ll receive if you save the child? Do you say to yourself, Gee, it
would make me feel really good to save my child. So I guess I ll do it! No. You feel
good after saving the child because you saved the child. You didn t save the child
in order to feel good (west valley, 20o4 para. 18). I used this example because it
describes what goes through the head of psychological egoists. Ethical Egoism
Someone that is starting up an ice shop in a town where there is none. The
individual sees an opportunity to make profit, by selling ice cream in a town with
no or very little competition. In effect he has captured the market and is able to
make a lot of money simply by pursuing his own self interest. The town however
gains exposure in the ice cream market and through his specialization into thing he
can produce the goods more efficiently than other members of society could if they
were to make it for only themselves. Relativism According Waller (2005) states that
relativism is a used in a variety of ways and disciplines, ranging from physics to
anthropology (p.84). There are two forms that the author talks about in the book
sociological relativism and cultural relativism. Sociological relativism is different
Current Practice Protocol For Pain Reassessment And...
Solution Description
A major part of the planning stage is the proposed solution for the implementation.
After the evidence is analyzed critically, a plan is developed to implement with the
help of a change model. Before implementing change, it is important to follow the
steps, which includes: analyze change, know the elements and the way to apply
change (Houser Oman, 2011).
Proposed Solution
The proposed solution is to bring about change in the current practice protocol for
pain reassessment and documentation. The plan of change is to:
Involve a Quality Improvement Team including an Advanced Practice Nurseto
provide education and improve clinical practice of pain management in the unit.
Additional introduction of a new flow sheet as a documentation table for
reassessment and documentation of pain.
Regular nursing rounds and discussion, one to one bedside coaching, and daily record
audits.
The method to achieve expected outcomes
At first, the plan is presented in front of the Quality Care Committee for review and
approval. Once granted by the committee, then it is presented in front of the nursing
director and managers for consideration. A change management toolkit is the best
options to use to well implement change. The several steps in the change process
include, finding out the details of change, that is the size and characteristics, the
expected outcomes of the new change, and its feasibility in terms of cost, resource,
readiness and risk involved (Queensland
Derek Redmond Analysis
Derek Redmond, when you hear that name, not much comes to mind. However,
when I hear that name, I think of a man who is determined and perseveres. He is
an inspirational man who isn t afraid to push to his limits. This picture shows
important qualities that everyone needs. Derek Redmond, was a racer in the 1992
Olympics for the 400 meter sprint. He felt good when the race was about to start.
Despite that, when he was running around the first corner he heard a popping
sound. He tried to keep running, but the pain was too harsh. He said that it felt like
he had been shot. The pain was being caused because he had pulled a hamstring.
Pulling a hamstring can be a bummer. When he described the pain he said, the pain
was excruciating: like someone was shoving a hot knife into the back of your knee
and twisting it. Like an injured animal he lay on the ground in pain, ready to give up,
but then he struggle to get up it s, started walking to... Show more content on

By the time we had run to the hospital at our practice, I felt like I was going to die.
My legs were as tired as a sloth. I had never been so tired in my life. I had an awful
cramps that wasn t going away, and I felt like I was going to lose my lunch. I wanted
to walk so badly. To help myself keep going I kept saying the following sentence in
my head, I will not stop, I will keep running, I will push myself as far as I can go.
With my ponytail waving in the wind, I kept going. When we got back to the school.
I was exhausted and glad to be finished the run. If that was how hard we were going
to go at all of our practices, I didn t know if I could do it. The cross country coach
Mrs. Wrigley told me I should give it to weeks and I will start to notice a difference
when I run, so I decided to keep going to the practices. I had set a goal for myself to
continue to go to the practises for the next two weeks. It was hard but I persevered
and push through

This quote is very relevant throughout the stories of Beowulf and Grendel. What does it take to be a hero? What type of people are usually heroes? What qualifies anyone to be a hero? These are just a few of the many questions that need to be kept in mind when trying to determine what makes a person a hero. Usually, when people think of the word hero it has a positive connotation, and is often times associated with super powered beings or humans with extraordinary skills, such as Superman or Wonder Woman. According to Merriam Webster the definition of a hero is, a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let me live in greatness/ And courage, or here in this hall welcome/ My death! (Raffel, pg. 29), Beowulf claims that his only reason for being there is to defeat Grendel and to win the goodwill , that is hard to believe. Grendel is basically an indestructible evil giant with razor sharp teeth and huge claws. This is probably one of Beowulf s greatest challenges. What better way to gain fame and glory than by killing his greatest monster yet? Your actions are things that you do to be a hero, but your motives and intentions determine if those actions actually matter. For example, two children want to help an elderly woman find her dogs. There is a cash reward for $100 per dog. They each find one dog. They are both awarded the reward money. The first child helps find the dog because she loves dogs and thinks no dog should be lost and away from there owner. The second child helps find the dog because he just wants $100 dollars. Who is the hero in this case? They both found a dog, so what does it matter, right? The story of Beowulf portrays Grendel as this ignorant, bloodthirsty killing machine. Grendel s hatred began, /...the monster relished his savage war/ On the Danes, keeping the bloody feud/ Alive, seeking no peace, offering/ No truce, accepting no settlement, no price/ In gold or land, and paying the living/ For one crime only with another. No one/ Waited for

This is somewhat true. Yes, that does help to begin and mend a critical thinker but critical thinking also includes a combination of skills. Environmental Impacts Of Environmental Disasters Introduction Environmental damage that is caused by just one individual is exclusively minor which causes it to be unnoticed, whereas a major group of people, such as a large corporation harming the environment at once causes major harm to society. More than a century of industrial development has caused negative environmental impacts such as global warming, ozone depletion, and air and water pollution. These are recognized as global environmental problems that need immediate solutions. Climate change, as an international environmental issue, is getting a great deal of attention as it has become a global issue. In the last few decades, there has been a heightened awareness of environmental issues by governments, policy makers, advocacy groups, business firms, and the public all over the world. He then turns this scenario around to the idea that people will do something, whether it s good or not, as long as nobody sees them. This is where the concept of mass surveillance comes into play. The common response to mass surveillance is basically that if a person isn t doing anything wrong then they have nothing to hide. One of Greenwald s main point on why this is a such a destructive mindset, is because it means there is only two kinds of people, good and bad. For example, Salinger writes, The only thing that would be different would be you. Not that you d be so much older or anything. It wouldn t be that exactly. You d just be different, that s all (Salinger 135). In this quote, Holden has returned to a museum that he frequently visited as a kid. • 21. Classical Art Through The 1700s How has the Classical tradition (the art of Greece and Rome) continued to affect art through the 1700s? In what way have artists also turned away from the Classical tradition? Although the question specifically addresses through the 1700s (UoPeople, 2017), I will go ahead and discuss art from the 1400s through the 1700s, chronologically, since that s what Unit 4 covers. Starting in the 1400s during the Renaissance era., we can see how the Classical tradition of appreciating the human body and form carried over into Donatello s sculpture of David. Looking at the sculpture, we can immediately see the similarities between these two time periods. The carefully sculpted muscles, the nude presentation, and the contrapposto are all representative of the Classical period, indicating that the artists during the Renaissance period had an interest in creating a more natural look (Harris and Zucker, n.d.). However, Donatello s use of bronze as the medium is where this sculpture differs from the traditional stone that the Ancient Greeks and Romans chose to work with. Also, while the Classical period is known for using idealistic proportions, the Renaissance artists lean toward more natural proportions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their reflections of the Renaissance are similar; however, their representations of the Renaissance also have distinct differences. The Renaissance or rebirth was a cultural movement that accompanied the passage of Europe from the Middle Ages to modern times. Niccolo Machiavelli was an Italian civic humanist, historian, diplomat, philosopher, politician, and writer during the Renaissance. He applied the values of the Renaissance to his political treatise, The Prince. Sir Thomas was an English lawyer, philosopher, statesman, and humanist during the Renaissance. He employed the ideals of the Renaissance to his Latin dialogue, Utopia. Both The Prince and Utopia reflect the ideals of the Renaissance through their promotion of education, humanism, and reform. There are, nevertheless, differences in how The Prince and Utopia reflect the Renaissance. Both Sir Thomas More s Utopia and Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince reflect the ideals of the Renaissance; however, they diverge in their reflections through their views towards realism, idealism, morality, religion, and rhetoric which demonstrates that the Renaissance was a diverse cultural movement in early modern Europe. A variety of events from the eleventh century to the fourteenth century ignited the Renaissance. The Crusades prompted the Renaissance through the weakening of the feudal nobility and the laity s

The Masculine Crisis in Manhattan Transfer Affect is crucial to understanding Dos Passos s approach to characterization because of how he chooses to express his characters thoughts and feelings. Frequent use of stream of consciousness and infrequent use of precise physical or mental descriptions forces readers to assume almost everything about the characters. Often, we have to interpret their vocal tones or physical actions for ourselves based purely on dialogue alone, but with the way dialogue unfolds, many times the readers are following characters as they come to realizations themselves. Black Cat Abolitionist Longing for Liberation: Abolitionists and Women s Rights in The Black Cat In his short story The Black Cat , Edgar Allan Poe constructs an allegory mirroring the struggles of slavery and the abolitionist movement. Wrought with the tribulations of slavery in 1840s, Poe s short story exemplifies the issues facing the Antebellum United States by representing different participants in the horrors of slavery. Poe s characters embody the roles of the slave master, the slave, and the abolitionist. Touched by the repercussions of the corruption of slavery, the previously uncomplaining and docile wife immediately recognizes the evil in her husband s attempted murder of another black cat, another slave. As the narrator, or the slave owner, swings an ax to kill the slave, she grabs his hand in an attempt to stop him. He turns on her, driving the ax into her brain. Utilizing diction like wrath , hideous , and demonical , Poe creates a grotesque image of carnage as the slave watches the abolitionist cut down by the oppressive slave owner and the woman beat into silence by the oppressive patriarchy. The slave owner entombs the woman s body in the cellar of their home. Unbeknownst to the master, the slave remains with the body of the woman reflecting the solidarity between the Woman s Rights Movement and the slaves. When police come looking for the wife, the slave cries out a wailing shriek, half of horror and half of triumph...from the throats of the damned in their agony and of the demons that exult in the damnation (Poe 701). Beowulf And Grendel Comparison Beowulf, known as the oldest poem in the written English language, written with no known author, tells a fascinating story involving an epic hero of his time and a not so understood monster. As any hero would. Beowulfwants to prove to himself and the people that he is, in fact, the strongest man on earth. Although Beowulf is a fine piece of writing on its own, it fails to tell all of the story, just like any other one sided story does. But, thanks to the novel, Grendel, written by John Gardner, we get to peek inside the villain s life for a change, which ultimately very well may change the reader s view of the story completely. These two versions of the same story are told from two different perspectives, Grendel s (the monster) and Beowulf s (the epic hero), the story told in Beowulf s favor insinuates that Grendel is a terrible monster with no soul, whose whole life is dedicated to killing anything and everything in his sight. However, in Grendel, we see a completely different side of Grendel that isn t over shadowed by the hatred that the people have on Grendel. Skeletal muscles play a huge role in the way our bodies function because without muscles, our bones would not properly be held together. Most of the body s muscle tissue is skeletal muscle. It interacts with the skeleton to move body parts. It s long, thin cells are called fibers and they have more than one nucleus. Their structure gives them a striped look. The muscles are considered voluntary, which means that the contractions can be controlled. A skeletal musclecontains bundles of muscle cells. Inside each cell are threadlike myofibrils, which are divided into sarcomeres, the unit of contraction. They are bundled together by connective tissue that extends past it to form tendons. A tendon is a strap of dense connective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cells are packed with myoglobin, a reddish protein that binds oxygen for the cell s use in making ATP. They are served by a large number of capillaries. The cells contract fairly slowly therefore, the slow cells are well equipped to make ATP. Fast or white muscles, are found in the hand and have fewer capillaries. There are fewer mitochondria and less myoglobin. Fast muscles can contract rapidly and powerfully for short periods. Muscle of the back and leg are called postural muscles, because they aid body support. Postural muscles must contract for long periods when a person is standing. They have a high proportion of red muscle cells. A muscle contracts when its cell shortens. When a muscle cell shortens, many units of contraction inside that cell are shortening. Each of these basic units of contraction is a sarcomere. Bundles of cells in a skeletal muscle run parallel with the muscle. This is because the arrangement tries to focus the force of a contracting muscle onto a bone in the same direction. The nervous system controls muscle contractions. The motor neuron begins contraction of the sarcomeres. When the signal arrives, it spreads rapidly and will ultimately reach small extensions of the cell s plasma membrane. The extensions connect with a membrane system, called the sarcoplasmic reticulum, which release Calcium ions. Impulses stimulate muscle cells, which arrive at the neuromuscular junction, where the motor neuron s endings never touch a

Friends and enemies are another theme of the novel. Whether or not someone is a friend or enemy is never entirely clear. In the end, the ones who Ender thought were enemies, turned out to be friendly. Card proves that there are no clear distinctions between friends and enemies. The point of view in Ender s Game is that of the characters. It is not, however, limited to one character. Most of the novel is told in Ender s perspective, but there are parts, even whole chapters, where the point of view is switched to that of Valentine s, one of the adult s, or even Peter s. There are parts of the story where the commanders are talking about Ender and his progress . While in Valentine s point of view, the reader learns about what is happening on earth while Ender is in space. The point of view basically fills in all the holes for the
  • 41. Summary Of Disco Rice And Other Trash Talk In the article Disco Rice, and Other Trash Talk written by Ian Urbina, the sanitation workers developed their own slang. Many people who work as garbage men cannot understand one persons language, or way of speaking. Using slang as a language is easier for all of the workers to communicate as a group. In addition to making it easier to communicate there are also several other reasons why New York workers use slang terms. First of all, the garbage men are working in the hot summer. In paragraph four it says It makes disgusting items not so disgusting. Using other words like mongo and Disco rice is looking at the trash in a different way. They would no longer have to picture loads of debris. using different words can also be a distraction

I had bad feelings about thewhole thing from the day Julius commissioned me to paint instead of sculpt. I am anarchitect and sculptor not a fresco painter. It is not that I doubt my ability s to completesuch a task, but I believe that there are other artists that would be much better suited for the job than I. It is of course an honor to be chosen to paintsuch a ceiling and Julius isfar to stubborn to find anyone else but myself, so I will paint and I will make it one of thegreatest frescopaintings there will ever be.(Brandes, 254). I will paint this ceiling, not for the popeand not for the Romans but for myself, to fell proud of my own work. To show the reality in this painting of Noah I will place him collapsed on theground next to a jug of wine. His sons will be around him giving him support andcomfort as he struggles to understand what God s plan is for him and his family. Noah issuch a peaceful man with a lot on his mind and this is how I will paint him. (Camesasca, 91). I am now working on The Flood. This painting brings out a lot of emotion in me,there is a sense of fear and terror among the crowd of people who are about to be wipedaway from the earth. I want the wind to be a great force in this fresco to give the effectof a great storm. The trees are about to be uprooted and the people will run for shelterand higher ground. • 43. A Career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Nurse Practitioner I would like to go into the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner career field. Pediatric Nurse Practitioners help Pediatricians and other Physicians diagnose and take care of children from infancy to young adults. I have grown up with ten siblings and many more cousins, so I have learned how to deal with children of all ages. Also, I have been interested in the medical field since I was a little girl and I have always loved to help people. I would have liked to be a Pediatrician but I would prefere not be in school for another thirteen years, so I found that the Pediatric Nurse Practitionerwas the perfect career for me. In the mid twentieth century, doctors started working with nurses who had clinical experience because they needed more people in specialized and primary care. Health coverage like Medicaid and Medicare were offered to low income women, children, elderly and disabled people in the mid 1960 s. Because of the affordable coverage, more people then requested the need to have primary care, and because there were not enough doctors to go around to everyone that could afford the care, the nurses felt that they could take on the important responsibility. The training program for the nurse practitioners, developed by Nurse Loretta Ford and Doctor Henry Silver, was based on the well being of children and their families. The growing interest for primary care, according to Ford, was one of the reasons for the creation of Nurse

Amish Technology Technology has been ruining our lives since its inception back in the 23,460 BCE revolution of the cavemen, when the people rushed to the mall to buy the new iOoga (now with more stone). You may be thinking Hasn t technology made our lives easier? I can get any information in 30 seconds! . You may even be right (shocker). However, this kind of information is the very cause of our downfall. It ruins our lives by killing us, taking our jobs and happiness, and killing the environment. I humbly offer a solution that all citizens of the world are to be made Amish, and block technology from our lives all together. The Amish are a very peaceful, old fashioned religious society where most, if not all technology is banned. Most importantly, a vast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the use of cars, gasoline and electric (yes, even your Prius or Tesla is not helping), the ozone layer is depleted more and more, and permanently. Electric cars still require the same amount of metal and leather and other resources to build as non electric cars, so they are not better in that vein. Your electric cardoesn t need gas, but it still might get its energy from burning carbon. It depends on how your local grid generates electricity. If you use coal fired power plants to produce the electricity, then all electrics don t even look that much better than a traditional vehicle in terms of greenhouse gases (Wade, par 4). As these cars are not more environmentally friendly than cars and other motorized vehicles, the horse and buggy proves to be a much more superior choice of transport, powering over even the one of a kind Lamborghini Aventador (which has 750 horsepower, impeccable brakes, and phenomenal steering). The Amish way of life is far cleaner to the environment, and if the world s humans convert immediately, then the world may yet be saved. Scientists have concluded that most of the observed warming is very likely due to the burning of coal, oil, and gas (Carroll, par 1). The Amish do not need to mass farm fish or whale oil. They do not need to melt the ice caps in their path of survival, and they

DT algorithms perform a variety method of nominal attributes and can t handle continuous ones directly. As result, an outsized variety of ml and applied math techniques will solely be applied to information sets composed entirely of nominal variables. However, an awfully giant proportion of real information sets embrace continuous variables: that s variables measured at the interval or magnitude relation level. One answer to the present drawback is to partition numeric variables into variety of sub ranges and treat every such sub range as a class. This method of partitioning continuous variables into classes is sometimes termed discretization. Sadly, the quantity of how to discretize a continual attribute is infinite. Discretization could be a potential long bottleneck, since the variety of attainable discretization is exponential within the number of interval threshold candidates at intervals the domain [14]. The goal of discretization is to seek out a collection of cut points to partition the range into a little variety of intervals that have sensible category coherence, that is sometimes measured by an analysis operate. Additionally to the maximization of reciprocality between category labels and attribute values, a perfect discretization technique
  • 47. Social Injustice Book Review Social Injustice Book Review Injustice: why social inequality persists, by Daniel Dorling. The main aim of this book is to help re define injustice but first we must ask ourselves what is social justice? As defined by (Walker, 1999, p.9). Social justice is mutual responsibility it insists that we all accept duties as well as rights to each other and to society . Dorling s book focuses on 5 main causes of injustice in todays modern world and how these 5 causes have changed in comparison to what they were in the past. The path to a better future, these contend, lies in a better understanding and appreciation of how the injustices of the past affect patterns of oppression today (Spinner Halev, 2012, p.4). What was once seen as unfortunate many years ago has now become what s known as unjust . Dorling does an excellent job of explaining what these 5 tenants of injustice are and he does so in an easy to understand language whilst giving us examples of how these 5 tenants have changed to prior years. Each tenant both past and present is briefly explained to us in the introduction of the book, but Dorling delves deeper into each tenant in such greater detail in later chapters. Each chapter shows us how these tenants affect/have affected certain domains within our society. These new tenants/faces of injustice nowadays are stated as: Elitism, Exclusion, Prejudice, Greed and Despair. Old evils/faces that were once said to cause social injustice were due to a lack of: Education (ignorance), Money (want) Work (idleness) Comfort (squalor) and Health (disease). Dorling points out that while many people say they don t agree with these beliefs or claim to reject them, are often at times the ones to uphold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With an act utilitarian the goal will be to Maximize pleasure and minimize pain (Waller, 2005, p.49). An act utilitarian says that people could do that and they would not only make everyone happier but they would also be doing what is morally right. An act utilitarian doesn t have conflicts over any action being right or wrong. Example of Act Utilitarian A coach of a kid s basketball has to play each kid every game. At the same time the coach would like to win all the games to get to the championship. But there are two kids that have no idea how to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Realizing this, do you now stop and calculate how much happiness you ll receive if you save the child? Do you say to yourself, Gee, it would make me feel really good to save my child. So I guess I ll do it! No. You feel good after saving the child because you saved the child. You didn t save the child in order to feel good (west valley, 20o4 para. 18). I used this example because it describes what goes through the head of psychological egoists. Ethical Egoism Someone that is starting up an ice shop in a town where there is none. The individual sees an opportunity to make profit, by selling ice cream in a town with no or very little competition. In effect he has captured the market and is able to make a lot of money simply by pursuing his own self interest. The town however gains exposure in the ice cream market and through his specialization into thing he can produce the goods more efficiently than other members of society could if they were to make it for only themselves. Relativism According Waller (2005) states that relativism is a used in a variety of ways and disciplines, ranging from physics to anthropology (p.84). There are two forms that the author talks about in the book sociological relativism and cultural relativism. Sociological relativism is different
  • 49. Current Practice Protocol For Pain Reassessment And... Solution Description A major part of the planning stage is the proposed solution for the implementation. After the evidence is analyzed critically, a plan is developed to implement with the help of a change model. Before implementing change, it is important to follow the steps, which includes: analyze change, know the elements and the way to apply change (Houser Oman, 2011). Proposed Solution The proposed solution is to bring about change in the current practice protocol for pain reassessment and documentation. The plan of change is to: Involve a Quality Improvement Team including an Advanced Practice Nurseto provide education and improve clinical practice of pain management in the unit. Additional introduction of a new flow sheet as a documentation table for reassessment and documentation of pain. Regular nursing rounds and discussion, one to one bedside coaching, and daily record audits. The method to achieve expected outcomes At first, the plan is presented in front of the Quality Care Committee for review and approval. Once granted by the committee, then it is presented in front of the nursing director and managers for consideration. A change management toolkit is the best options to use to well implement change. The several steps in the change process include, finding out the details of change, that is the size and characteristics, the expected outcomes of the new change, and its feasibility in terms of cost, resource, readiness and risk involved (Queensland
