Is The Death Penalty Cruel And Unusual
Punishment Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of whether the death penalty constitutes cruel and unusual
punishment can be a challenging task. This subject delves into complex moral, ethical, and legal
considerations that require a nuanced understanding of various perspectives. Crafting a well-
rounded essay involves extensive research to comprehend the historical context, legal precedents,
and societal attitudes surrounding the death penalty.
The difficulty lies in presenting a balanced argument that considers both proponents and
opponents of capital punishment. It necessitates delving into statistical data, case studies, and
scholarly articles to support your assertions. Furthermore, exploring the psychological and
emotional impact on the individuals involved, such as the condemned and the victims' families,
adds another layer of complexity to the essay.
To build a compelling case, it is crucial to anticipate counterarguments and address them
effectively, demonstrating a comprehensive grasp of the subject matter. Striking a balance
between emotional appeal and logical reasoning is essential to engage the reader and convey the
gravity of the issue.
The task is not merely to express personal opinions but to construct a well-reasoned, evidence-
based analysis that encourages critical thinking. Developing a coherent structure, maintaining
clarity of expression, and adhering to academic standards contribute to the overall challenge of
crafting a persuasive essay on this contentious topic.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the subject of the death penalty's morality and legality
requires meticulous research, thoughtful analysis, and the ability to navigate complex ethical
terrain. It demands a writer's dedication to presenting a comprehensive and compelling
argument. If you find yourself in need of assistance, there are services like HelpWriting.net

Mesoamerica Analysis
Mesoamerica was a place where people shared similar traditions and customs creating
a unified region. Mesoamerica is one of the only six primary cultures in the world
where human culture and civilization started. The people here share common cultural
elements including, the calendar, hyroglific writing, astronomy, monumental
architecture and complex religious systems. The Aztecs followed complex
agricultural practices as well. Like other aspects of this society, Aztecagriculture was
highly developed. Some of the domestic plants brought over by Mesoamericainclude:

When the Sacred Cenote was first dredged in 1904, it puzzled researchers, but
some scientists now believe it was probably left over from blue coated human
sacrifices thrown into the well as part of a Maya ritual. Diego de Landa witnessed
human sacrifices. He tells us that the sacrificial victim was painted blue. Next, the
victim was led to the summit of the pyramid and laid over a stone alter. Then with
his arms and legs firmly held by the chacs, the nacom cut open the chest and tore out
his heart. This was usually done with an obsidian or flint knife. Next, the heart was
handed to the high priest, and the body was thrown down the temple
Interpretive Ethnography
As a follow up to our pragmatic stance, we wanted to analyze our observations from
the phenomena which are occurring in context (Streubert and Carpenter, 1999) by
relying on abduction, a reasoning approach that is suita ble when we begin with an
insufficient set of observations and proceeds to the most plausible explanation. As a
scientific researchmethod, abduction is about using prior knowledge and field
evidence to make conjectures and to stress them against observations and
experimentation but also to rely on the researcher s instinct . To apprehend time in
action and in its full complexity, this strategy of inquiries which assumes that the
researcher is implicated in the phenomenon being studied, encourage us to focus on
the detailed examination of individual lived experience and the ways in which they
make sense of that experience, and how they interpret phenomena by looking at
multiple perspectives with an insider s viewpoint. Studying these different... Show

The four junctures presented in this study are what we interpreted as defining their
relationships to time. We present the ethnographic findings in parallel to illustrate our

The typology below is formatted in a way that it permits to explore each juncture of
temporal reflexivity. The analysis is designed to highlight that these junctures are
based on the fact that organizational actors integrate and reconsolidate experiences.
We give the meaning to junctures of temporal reflexivity as the processes by which
temporal reflexivity is enacted to bring and raise awareness of time that, in turn,
enables actors to reflect upon the medium and the outcome of time.

The Wife Of Bath Research Paper
The rights and freedom of women during the Chaucerian times were quite limited.
The role of women during this time was to keep house and be a faithful wife. Men
were given the luxury of leaving the house to work in the daytime and to socialize
with their friends in the evening. The possibility of violence was present should a
womanthreaten her husband s authority. The Wifeof Bath is the antithesis of the
typical medieval women. She holds an alarming power over men during a time in
which men and the Church were the powerhouses. Her attitude and expressions
would be looked down upon, and they would be seen as rebellious. She is a justified
rebel. The Wife starts her tale by proving she is an authority on marriagethrough

Muhammad Ali Film Analysis
Before watching this documentary I definitely knew who Muhammad Ali was, but
I had never heard of Larry Holmes. It was actually ironic to hear some people in
the documentary say that many people do not know who he is although he was
just as talented as Ali. In discussing the fight between Ali and Holmes, I do not
think it was the best idea for Ali to agree to fight in the condition he was in. He
should not have listened to the people around him who were mostly in it for the
money. Just based off of what the doctor said, Ali was not fit to fight Holmes, who
happened to be 8 years younger and stronger than him. Ali had come out of
retirement in an attempt to become the first four time world heavyweight champion
and already had slurred speech and slow reflexes. With his thyroid condition and all
of the medication he was on, winning that fight was just not possible as sad as it
may be. I believe that all of the hits that Ali took over his boxingcareer actually
played a role in him later developing Parkinson s syndrome. He should of put his
well being and health first, but at the end of the day I do believe he was following
his heart and fought because he needed the money. Although he may have lost to
Holmes due to being in denial of it being time to put his gloves down, he will always
be remembered as a boxing legend... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was a gifted boxer who represented strength, endurance, confidence, kindness, and

The Challenges Of Immigrants In South Africa
Countless United states citizens declare that immigrants come to the United States
to break the law, take jobs away from natives, and seek aid from the government.
Many do not stop to ask the question why immigrants come to this country? Or why
are they willing to work at such a low wage? Coming from immigrant family
myself, I have been judged and condemned by my background. But no one has
bothered to ask my background story of what is feels to come from an immigrant
family. I feel no shame and I feel proud where I came from, several will say horrible
things about immigrants. Still I am one of the millions of immigrants that are in this
country going through similar challenges. As president of South Africa, Nelson
Mandela, once mention Do not judge me by my success, judge me by how many
times I fell down and got back up again.
I grew up in a Mexican household, even though I was born in the US. My first
language was Spanish. My parents use to work in the tobacco fields from 4:00 am
all the way to 6:00pm in a good day. While in school I was teased for not being able
to speak English; or for dressing funny, and always smelling like a farm, eating
weird foods. I felt depressed at moments, but thankfully my mother would always
keep my mind busy. She would say The only people that are rich in life are not the
ones with money in their pockets, it s the ones that doesn t think twice to lend a hand

Skydiving Stereotypes
What s new? The trend that never seems to be going out of style is the only
skydiving. Nowaday jumping from 14,000 feet off the ground to free fall is the
most ideal experiences that everyone wishes to do at some point of their lives;
some might have different opinion of skydiving being unsafe and not the best thing
to do with such pricy tickets attached, but on the contrary. I , who just turned 19,
was seeking to experience a once in a lifetime experience, but my question was: Is
Skydiving worth all the hype? Before making the decision of where or when to
jump, I had to go through the most basic human instinct question: Where was my
money going? Not only is there the main cost of the experience, but I had found there

The Life Of Everyday Life In Colonial America
Everyday life in colonial America was made up of large cities, rural settlements,
and frontier regions. Life in colonial America was nothing short of difficult. The
large cities were made up of many classes of people ranging from wealthy to
slaves. There were some that had very specific skills as well as communication
skills and others who had nothing. The wealthy people dreamed of what they were
going to do in the future, however the middle class people dreamed but did not
plan. They were better off than the average poor person, but still worked very hard
sunrise to sunset. In this paper I will provide information on what life was like for
various aspects and people groups in colonial America.
Slavery in colonial America was a hard way of life. Slaves varied in ages and
gender. Slaves were assigned a task or tasks that had to be completed during the
day. The male slaves would participate in the hard labor such as working on the
farm. The female slaves would generally work in the household, sent on errands or
spent most of their time with the house owner. Female slaves were forced into
sexual relationships for reproduction. Reproduction would either be forced between
one African slave and another or between the slave and the house owner. Slaves
were also treated like livestock and being bought, sold and traded among owners.
For the enslaved people they had to endure being separated from their families when
captured or when sold at the slave market. Their new
American Exceptionalism Is A Real Concept That Makes...
Some people seem to question the concept of American exceptionalism, while others
know and interpret it differently. American exceptionalism has various definitions
and has been used by many politicians. The most accurate way to define American
exceptionalism, though, would be to think of it as a concept that refers to the United
Statesof America as a uniquely free country that is different from other nations
based on its principles, history, and political system. Over the years, American
exceptionalism has been an important topic of debate with people asking whether it
is real and whether it is good. The purpose of this paper is to argue whether
American exceptionalism is a real concept that makes America unique from other
nations. I seek to show how the idea of American exceptionalism, which has been
discussed by many people since the 19th century, could be real and flawed at the
same time. Ultimately, this research will shed light on the different myths of
American exceptionalism as well as whether it makes America a unique democracy
and how diverse groups of people interpret it.
Although the United States of America is thought of as an exceptional nation, the
term, American exceptionalism itself, is believed to be extraordinary in one way or
another. American exceptionalism refers to America as a unique land of great
opportunity that is extremely different from other nations. According to Stephen M.

Moral Messages in An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley
Priestley wrote an Inspector Calls in 1945 just before the end of WW2. However,
The play itself is set in 1912 just before the start of WW1, and in Edwardian England.
Priestley was a socialist writer who had left wing political views with very strong
beliefs; he enjoyed using types of theatre to get his messages across.
When the platy was set, there was a lot of historical events going on at the time;
Titanic, Captain Scott falling to reach S Pole, Suffragette movement campaigning for
women s rights, worker striking for better pay and conditions, Russia unrest, no NHS

In An Inspector Calls, Mr. Birling is a prime example of this stereotypical character of
the time.
In Mr. Birling s big speech before the Inspector arrives, there are many moral issues
raised: First of all, the issue of whether the marriage is for love, money, respect or
business Your engagement to Sheila means a tremendous lot to me…your
father and I have been friendly rivals in business for some time now…and now
you ve brought us together. While Mr B does mention that they will make each
other very happy he mentions his business a lot, and this shows how he wants the
wedding for two reasons, as he wants to climb the social ladder to the top. This is
mentioned a number of times at different sections of the play. Mr B refers to
business later on in his speech, with the prosperity of the country brought up in the
speech suggesting the marriage is for money, and when it turns out Gerald has been
keeping a mistress, he still wants the marriage to go ahead making excuses for
Gerald; this shows that all Mr. Birling wanted from the marriage was money, respect
and prosperity for himself.
A number of other issues that were around at the time the play was set (1912) are
raised; these issues are raised by Priestley are because of his strong political views,
and it is clear what he thought on

Soldiers Fighting for their Country in Enrich Maria...
Everywhere thick, hot gory blood drips from comrade s wounds. The stench of
death hovers in the air and encases every movement. A faint buzz whizzes into the
ear drums as shells and bullets fluster by with brilliant flashes of light. These are
the everyday encounters of a soldier on the front. No words can even begin to touch
the realness of terror that soldiers experience every day. Young recruits are reeled
into this torture and sacrifice everything they have and love for their country. Lively
hopefuls are transformed into the unfeeling. The soldiers must think of memories as,
too grievous for us [them] to reflect on them at once. (pp. 138) They forget, lest their
state of mind plummet. Few, if any capture the graphic life and thoughts of the soldier
better than Enrich Maria Remarque in his moving book All Quiet on the Western
Front. This epic book follows a young German military recruit named Paul Bäumer
and his classmates who come face to face with the gunfire of the Allies during World
War I. Through Remarque s well chosen words and imagery, an average citizen is
transported from their comfy home to the trenches and front lines of heated battle. In
Enrich Maria Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front, he successfully illustrates
what it s like to be a soldier during war and the extent in which everyday people
sacrifice their lives when fighting for their country. The graphic visuals that Enrich

success within the industry. Throughout the internal environment analysis, the report
will provide insight one the resources, capabilities, core competencies, and
competitive advantages being deployed by IHG. According to the 2015 IHG annual
report, IHG brands primarily use a franchise based business model, where the hotel
group manages hotels on behalf of the hotel owners (InterContinental Hotels Group,
2016, p.12). In addition, the business strategy allows for an asset light strategy, where
IHG can help the hotel owners generate higher returns on their invested capital.
The ability to provide a system where the owners of the IHG branded hotel can
achieve higher returns on investment enables the investors to have increased
confidence providing financing. However, the strategy benefits IHG by reducing the
risk on their side, while also freeing the hotel group to reinvest their saving into the
company. IHG generated 90% of their operating profits from the asset light strategy,
which is great considering the hotel group only has seven owned or leased hotels in
their system (InterContinental Hotels Group, 2016, p.13). While the business
strategy deployed by IHG is a great competitive advantage and resource for the hotel
group, they do offer some great benefits to their

Analysis Of The Film Bourne Ultimatum
In the film Bourne Ultimatum, the above link is a chase sequence. Personally, I
felt this film wasn t terrible, but there were bad sequences, especially the sequence
I analyzed. This whole movie had shaky hand held shots, specifically in the
sequence I analyzed. I understand war movies, and action movies are allowed to
use shaky hand held shots, but it was shaky the entire sequence, and it wasn t
necessary for certain shots. Along with that, there were a few composition shots
but everything else was sloppy and shots were edited terribly. The beginning
started outside in the daylight, cloudy day, on what seemed to be a very busy
street with honking of cars and a medium shot of a taxi cab. Dramatic music starts
as we are introduced to the first character by using a hand held shot following this
character, but it has way to many quick cuts in between that we can t get a sense of
what the character s face actually looks like. It cuts to a medium shot of that
character wearing a black coat, to a rapid pan down shot of a building to a close up
shot of the character s side face. This would have been better if it were a direct
over the shoulder pan down or up of the actor looking at a building. Then it cuts to
that character s reflection looking at writing on a door, with a close up and quick
pan, that was not even a pan, it was a quick cut that was unessary, instead the camera
could of panned while the actor walked down the hall. Then the actor opens a door,

The Role Of Journalists On The Media
Imagine a world in which you did not have access to any news the only thing you
consider current events is what you yourself see and what you hear from others.
Obviously, this world would be very problematic. We all rely on the news media to
connect us to the entire world, which is why the role of journalists is essential.
Journalists have the very important duty of reporting on current events accurately and
objectively. Along with written text, pictures also tell a story, which presents a
continuous ethical issue for many journalists. Although newspapers and magazines
routinely publish photos, there are many ethical values that journalists must consider
before publishing those photos, such as the impact a photo or video could have...

There are typically three types of news stories journalists look for: natural events or
disasters, a person, group, or organization completing some newsworthy act, and
when journalists themselves develop their own story through beat reporting ( News ).
Once these stories have been found, it is imperative that journalists report on these
events both accurately and objectively. This balance is imperative for journalists to
maintain because according to Greenberg and Wheelwright, a key aspect of
journalistic ethics is the management of readers expectations (514). Although the
field as a whole has been transforming due to the online news media, considering
what is newsworthy for the general public has always been a main concern for
journalists. As a result of this transformation, trust in the news media has drastically
decreased over the past several years for a variety of reasons, which is why a revival
of essential journalistic values, such as honesty and integrity, is needed.
Along with using written text to tell a news story, pictures also play an important role
in journalism. The popular phrase a picture is worth a thousand words is often true in
this field. When thinking back on a previous news story, readers will most likely
remember the visual portrayal of a news story rather than the written text. According
to recent research, as
Gang Codes Research Paper
The Gang Code
Our society revolves around a code , code of conduct, code of ethics honor code.
This is often seen in families, companies, military, law enforcement, organized
groups (includes street gangs) ideology groups and countries. Codes have been
around for centuries and have been documented and undocumented. Examples of
documented code are penal code, policy procedure manuals. Undocumented codes
are families (family values), street gangs ideology groups. Most common codes are
documented in the Penal Code at all three levels, city, state and federal government,
violations of the penal code results in punishment: from jail time, fine or both.
Families tend to regulate their own rules and consequences. Gangs also regulate
their own rules and also abide by a code similar to that of our military and law
enforcement, the code of honor. However, consequences in the street are more severe
and can result in severe physical punishment or death.

Naval Warfare Changes
Naval warfare has been adapting and changing to the technology of the time all
throughout the ages. Since the very first battles in the Aegean Sea, between Greek
galleys, to today s massive aircraft carriers, destroyers, and submarines; each
technological step has been taken to try to outdo the opponent. One major step that
naval warfare took was the transition from large numbers of muzzle loading cannons
on either side of the ship to turret guns. The transition from forty to fifty guns
cannons to twelve big guns at the most, had substantial impacts on several aspects of
naval operations. New changes in tactics had to be made to facilitate the use of only
a few guns that could point only one direction at a time. Maritime strategies had to be
adjusted to compensate for the newer, bigger, faster, and more power ships.
Procedures had to be changed to make manning the guns a specific job, but the
biggest impact that the implementation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It enabled warships to locate enemy aircraft and ships at night, through clouds, and
at great distances. Improved gun directors were developed at about the same time.
They tracked moving aircraft and directed gunfire at them. Gun directors were used
with proximity fuses. These fuses exploded a shell as it neared its target and
eliminated the need for a direct hit (Polmar).
Technology always has and always will adapt to the tools of the war at hand. The tool
of war that caused a significant amount of technology adaptation was the gun turret,
which caused new steps to be taken in the fields of radar, automation, and
ammunition specialization. That is how the gun turret impacted technology at sea.
The changes in the tools of war have always caused several impacts on war itself. In
the case of gun turrets, tactics and technology had to make large changes in order to
compensate for the shift in power that it caused. That is how gun turrets impacted

access files and how they do it. This runs into a problem since the owner of a file
has control over its permissions which can be less than ideal. SELinux ( Security
Enhanced Linux ) implements MAC ( Mandatory Access Control ), which is under
the direct control of the systems administrator and is located in the kernel where it
can control and enforce security, giving only the permissions needed to processes and
users.
In the way of vulnerabilities I could not find much for SELinux, which is a
testament to the power of MAC. As secure as it may be, for most home users this
system is a bit complicated and can block services and make it look like a common
error, making troubleshooting problematic. I would still recommend using a firewall
in conjunction with SELinux as security is best utilized when it is layered in order to
make attacks more difficult.
Linux has a rich history of collaborations between different organizations and input
from users worldwide. This has led to a world class piece of open source software
that has proven itself to have both the reliability and security to provide the peace of
mind for users and corporations worldwide to use for day to day operations and

In this case, I have known that Matt Hollis is the owner of the Centerville General

had been handed down from generation to generation. Although it was always a

this point, the Supermarket has called Matt and offered him a good opportunity to

3. The Supermarket Company
According to the case, the Supermarket company is interested in opening their new
stores in Centerville and let themselves break in this Midwest area. They want to
hire someone who had the knowledge of the local business in this town and also has
a great experience in this industry. Bill Harrington called Matt Hollis and described
their offer to him, because they consider Matt would be the best person to help them
starting businesses in this town.
The Supermarket Company is the financial founding of this plan, at the same time
their willingness is the origin and this company owns every single store which will
be open in the future, so they have the power of financial, voting and legal. 4. Bill

Basically, Bill Harrington has the same interest of his company, because he is
responsible for the development of Supermarket in the Midwest, so that makes him
have the legal and voting power in this case. 5. Local government and police
The local government shows the interest in this plan because they can see the
increasing tax income in the future, considering this phenomenon of a weak economy
in the Midwest. The police may not benefit from the opening supermarkets as much
as the government, but they have the duty to take care of the area
India s Indian Economy On The Path Of Globalization
For forty years after India s liberation from British rule in 1947, the Indian market
was stifled by government regulations that prohibited foreign owned operations. The
only way to import foreign goods or technology was to apply and obtain a special
permit from the government. This system was known as the license raj1. The
difficulty of getting these licenses repressed the automobilesector and component
imports, creating a low volume high cost auto industry that was technologically
dated, inefficient, and unprofitable. In the early 1980 s, The Indian government
engaged in small but decisive efforts to reform the country s struggling automobile
sector, that also set the Indian economy on the path of globalization. It entered into a

Driven by India s large population of over a billion, and low market penetration, The
Indian passenger car market became the fastest growing in Asia. International

Tuesdays With Morrie Albom Quotes
In our popular culture, we have the idea that men have to be tough and manly at all
times. We consider men to be tough when they do not cry and when they do not
show emotion. When men cry, they express the way they feel and they should not be
laughed at for doing so. In the memoir, Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, we
learn that Morrie, a manwho is dying of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), cries
every day without feeling ashamed. Morrie cries in the mornings if he needs to but
then he concentrates on all the good things he still has in his life. (57) His belief is
that it is okay for mento cry. Morrie wants Albom to ease down and show emotions,
however, Albom is a man who does not show affection and does not like to cry.
Albom, in a way, believes that men should not cry because crying is the same as...

Bean boots are not only used for hunting but are also used for day to day wear. The
initials in L.L bean stand for Leon Leonwood(Westbrook). Leon Leonwood was the
founder of the LL bean boots and started the company as well. The production of
Bean boots dates back to 1912 and the company is still making the same style of
boots today (History of Ll Bean). Leon Leonwood spent most of his time outdoors.
Leonwood needed a waterproof boot that could be worn out which inspired him to
invent the Bean Boots ( History of Ll Bean). L.L. Bean boots are one of the most
popular outdoor footwear items that are on the market because they are waterproof,
stylish, and good for hunting.
The L.L Bean boot is known for being able to wear it in all conditions and one of
these traits include being waterproof. The boot consists of leather at the top and a
rubber midsole. Leonwood put them to the test as he was exploring outside for

Six basic stats dictate a Pokemon s strength. They are: HP, Attack, Defense,
Special Attack, Special Defence, and Speed. HP measures a Pokemon s
endurance, its ability to take hits and keep fighting. Attack is a barometer for a
Pokemon s physical strength. Defense quantifies resistance to physical attacks.
The higher a Pokemon s Defense, the less HP it will lose from a physical attack.
Special Attack and Special Defence are the same as Attack/Defence, but for

Speed. Speed determines which Pokemon will move first. Tiny differences in Speed

The Poetry Of An Author
Many critics of poetry are of the opinion to approach the poems or works of an
author ignoring or disregarding their biographical features , as if did not influence
at all on the design and creation of his poems . While it is true that some sepsis can
help when it comes to not fall into false interpretations or twisted and complicated
analogies , which amounts to combine meanings of certain verses to personal
circumstances experienced by its author, it is no less true that a good biographical
knowledge of vital events of the authors can greatly help clear this or that dark side
that we find in a poem or a work, the reasons why the title of one form or another or
even the way they were ordered poems.
In the case that concerns us Sylvia Plath I could not shake that biographism; What s
more, thanks to him I met the poetry of this woman who, otherwise, would never
have aroused my curiosity. So, biographical circumstance for some critics is almost
like a curse. It has been the key element that led me to the poetry of this woman. My
first approach to Sylvia Plath came after seeing the film Sylvia (a biopic, to increase
my biographer fault) starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Daniel Craig in the role of the
poet and her husband respectively. Already knowing the tragic end of Sylvia Plath,
was the suicide scene in that movie that led me to delve into his life and therefore
in his work . Sylvia s life had an end for me very attractive: suicide. It was from there,

A Philosophical View Of Animal Rights
A Philosophical View of Animal Rights
Should animals be harmed to benefit mankind? This pressing question has been
around for at least the past two centuries. During the early nineteenth century, animal
experiments emerged as an important method of science and, in fact, marked the birth
of experimental physiology and neuroscience as we currently know it. There were,
however, guidelines that existed even back then which restricted the conditions of
experimentation. These early rules protected the animals, in the sense that all
procedures performed were done so with as little pain as possible and solely to
investigate new truths. Adopting the animals? perspectives, they would probably not
agree that these types of regulations were much ... Show more content on

(Rodd 4). So, it is easily seen how many views have accumulated over time. The task
of determining animal rights has also come into the context of examining these
inherent differences on qualitative and quantitative levels. We can say, for instance,
that on a qualitative level, a cow is less intelligent than a human. But, we must then
determine, on a quantitative level, how much more unintelligent that cow really is
when compared to humans. And, once we decide that, we must then decide if that
margin of intelligence is enough for us humans to slaughter that cow in order to
benefit human kind from its products.
Questions like this and others, which are very similar, have become the
snowballing debate over the question of animal rights. Where do we draw the line?
How do we determine the value of another being?s life? Well, up to this point, we
as a society have been pretty confident in judging the lives of millions of animals
worldwide (or so we can conclude by looking at the number of animals sacrificed
each year for the purpose of experiment, education, goods, etc.). We must first step
back and analyze the ethical dilemma at hand and then proceed to carefully weigh its
consequences.
If we examine the question of animal rights cautiously, it is most often viewed as an
ethical dilemma as opposed to an economic or

theology continues to be refined through an ever deepening understanding of
scripture, experience, traditions and with the use of reason. I am most drawn to those
theologians who are rooted in this Wesleyan tradition. My mother grew up Disciples

While being both three and one, the Triune God is both accessible to us through
relationship and more expansive than we can fathom. Having experienced both God s
nearness and distance in my own life, I am comfortable with the mystery of God. My
own relationship with the Divine is sustained through prayer, worship, study,
sacrament, vocation, relationships and acts of justice. Throughout my life, especially
during more challenging experiences, I felt God nearby, present, and engaged in my
life, especially through communion. At other times, God feels more distant, more
mysterious, and more unavailable. This ebb and flow in my relationship with God
allows me to be comfortable with God being three in one and both immanent and
transcendent. I also experience God in moments of tension, when caught between two
seemingly distant paradigms. By acknowledging the mystery of God, I am able to
have a relationship with God, while God remains infinite and beyond full human
comprehension.
I believe that God created the world and continues to remain active and responsive
to the world as it is. God is, first and foremost, loving. As both Father and Mother,
God seeks to be in relationship with the world and calls the church toward a vision
of creation that is beautiful, diverse, just, and good. God remains with us, even
when we turn away and sin. God s love is greater than we can ever imagine.

Clear solution/action plan
While developing a clear solution may seem like an easy thing to do, it may actually
be quite complicated. It may help you to develop categories equivalent to those that
may later be required in the final proposal (e.g., objectives, rationale, personnel,
management, timeline, products, budget, evaluation, guarantees of assurance,
dissemination of results). While you will not be able to provide many details at this
core document stage, you must have a clear idea of:
who will perform what actions (personnel and management),
how long it will take to achieve the solution (timeline),
how much it will cost (budget), and
what resources you will need (approval, funds, equipment, personnel, or other
resources).
Good proposals present strong links between the objectives of the plan (what you
hope to accomplish), the activities that will allow you to accomplish those
objectives, and the means by which you will determine how well your project is
going. The methods of evaluation also link directly back to the objectives; this means
that as you write an objective, you must make certain its degree of achievement can
be measured. You might consider
Puberty And Its Effect On The Family
When discussing puberty, there have been several studies covering the effects of the
onset, timing and duration of puberty. This article reviewed the timing of puberty and
its effect on the family unit. This article defined the timing of puberty as one of three
categories, early onset, on time or late maturer. The need for further research in this
area was necessary because previous studies often contradicted each other. This
particular study was completed using participants that were white, highly educated
and from upper middle class families with one parentand one adolescent from each
familyparticipating. The study tried to use equal numbers of fathers and mothers
as much as possible but complete equality was not always possible because more
mothers participated than fathers. The adolescents were between the ages of 10
and 17 years old and were various stages of puberty. Each adolescent was assessed
based on their visible signs of secondary sex features such as facial hair, hip width,
height, weight and chest development. They were then divided into the three pubertal
timing categories previously mentioned with over 70% of the adolescents being on
time maturers, and a relatively equal number of boys and girls.
Both the parent and child were given a questionnaire. Parents were instructed to
complete the questionnaire with no help from their child or spouse. The adolescents
were given questionnaires in a group setting and all questionnaires were returned

Mariama BГў s So Long a Letter
When a person hears words like feminist or feminism, notions of what it means to be
feminine, or consequently unfeminine, begin to dimly form in our mind s eye.
Although we cannot definitively answer the question of what is feminine, we are
able to recognize it when we see it or its absence. This conception, however, is
arbitrary at best. What is it about an evening gown that seems to define and dress the
feminine aura while a woman spitting would be denounced as inherently unfeminine?
There is no question that Mariama BГў s novel, So Long a Letter, is undoubtedly a

The social and not biological origin of these gender roles within a society imply that
these rules can be changed, altered, or disregarded completely, allowing for social
change and mobility. Ramatoulaye echoes Grosz s message in her conversation with
Daouda in which she seeks to de objectify women, and stresses the importance of
women within a society:
Women should no longer be decorative accessories, objects to be moved about,
companions to be flattered or calmed with promises. Women are the nation s primary,
fundamental root, from which all else grows and blossoms. (BГў 61 62)
Although Ramatoulaye identifies and celebrates the importance of women as their
own separate group, it would that she does without having to subordinate women to
men. Using the ability to create life, she acknowledges the inherent difference
between men and women without creating a hierarchy between them. This
deconstruction of the male female hierarchy is crucial in moving away from the
patriarch dominated world into one of equality:
For patriarchs, difference is understood in terms of inequality, distinction, or
opposition, a sexual difference modeled on negative, binary, or oppositional structures
within which only one of the two terms has any autonomy; the other is defined only

Is The Death Penalty Cruel And Unusual Punishment Essays

  • 1. Is The Death Penalty Cruel And Unusual Punishment Essays Writing an essay on the topic of whether the death penalty constitutes cruel and unusual punishment can be a challenging task. This subject delves into complex moral, ethical, and legal considerations that require a nuanced understanding of various perspectives. Crafting a well- rounded essay involves extensive research to comprehend the historical context, legal precedents, and societal attitudes surrounding the death penalty. The difficulty lies in presenting a balanced argument that considers both proponents and opponents of capital punishment. It necessitates delving into statistical data, case studies, and scholarly articles to support your assertions. Furthermore, exploring the psychological and emotional impact on the individuals involved, such as the condemned and the victims' families, adds another layer of complexity to the essay. To build a compelling case, it is crucial to anticipate counterarguments and address them effectively, demonstrating a comprehensive grasp of the subject matter. Striking a balance between emotional appeal and logical reasoning is essential to engage the reader and convey the gravity of the issue. The task is not merely to express personal opinions but to construct a well-reasoned, evidence- based analysis that encourages critical thinking. Developing a coherent structure, maintaining clarity of expression, and adhering to academic standards contribute to the overall challenge of crafting a persuasive essay on this contentious topic. In conclusion, tackling an essay on the subject of the death penalty's morality and legality requires meticulous research, thoughtful analysis, and the ability to navigate complex ethical terrain. • 2. Mesoamerica Analysis Mesoamerica was a place where people shared similar traditions and customs creating a unified region. Mesoamerica is one of the only six primary cultures in the world where human culture and civilization started. The people here share common cultural elements including, the calendar, hyroglific writing, astronomy, monumental architecture and complex religious systems. The Aztecs followed complex agricultural practices as well. Like other aspects of this society, Aztecagriculture was highly developed. Some of the domestic plants brought over by Mesoamericainclude: avocado, agave, amaranth, gourds, cashew, chyota, chia, chili peppers, beans, papayas, peanuts, prickly pear, pumpkin, yucca, vanilla, sweet potato, Tabaco, cocoa, cochinilla, and... When the Sacred Cenote was first dredged in 1904, it puzzled researchers, but some scientists now believe it was probably left over from blue coated human sacrifices thrown into the well as part of a Maya ritual. Diego de Landa witnessed human sacrifices. He tells us that the sacrificial victim was painted blue. Next, the victim was led to the summit of the pyramid and laid over a stone alter. Then with his arms and legs firmly held by the chacs, the nacom cut open the chest and tore out his heart. This was usually done with an obsidian or flint knife. Next, the heart was handed to the high priest, and the body was thrown down the temple
  • 3. Interpretive Ethnography As a follow up to our pragmatic stance, we wanted to analyze our observations from the phenomena which are occurring in context (Streubert and Carpenter, 1999) by relying on abduction, a reasoning approach that is suita ble when we begin with an insufficient set of observations and proceeds to the most plausible explanation. As a scientific researchmethod, abduction is about using prior knowledge and field evidence to make conjectures and to stress them against observations and experimentation but also to rely on the researcher s instinct . To apprehend time in action and in its full complexity, this strategy of inquiries which assumes that the researcher is implicated in the phenomenon being studied, encourage us to focus on the detailed examination of individual lived experience and the ways in which they make sense of that experience, and how they interpret phenomena by looking at multiple perspectives with an insider s viewpoint. We present the ethnographic findings in parallel to illustrate our typology. Interpretive Ethnography in a Retail Team of an E commerce Company The typology below is formatted in a way that it permits to explore each juncture of temporal reflexivity. The analysis is designed to highlight that these junctures are based on the fact that organizational actors integrate and reconsolidate experiences. We give the meaning to junctures of temporal reflexivity as the processes by which temporal reflexivity is enacted to bring and raise awareness of time that, in turn, enables actors to reflect upon the medium and the outcome of time. • 4. The Wife Of Bath Research Paper The rights and freedom of women during the Chaucerian times were quite limited. The role of women during this time was to keep house and be a faithful wife. Men were given the luxury of leaving the house to work in the daytime and to socialize with their friends in the evening. The possibility of violence was present should a womanthreaten her husband s authority. The Wifeof Bath is the antithesis of the typical medieval women. She holds an alarming power over men during a time in which men and the Church were the powerhouses. Her attitude and expressions would be looked down upon, and they would be seen as rebellious. She is a justified rebel. The Wife starts her tale by proving she is an authority on marriagethrough experience, Housbondes
  • 5. Muhammad Ali Film Analysis Before watching this documentary I definitely knew who Muhammad Ali was, but I had never heard of Larry Holmes. It was actually ironic to hear some people in the documentary say that many people do not know who he is although he was just as talented as Ali. In discussing the fight between Ali and Holmes, I do not think it was the best idea for Ali to agree to fight in the condition he was in. Just based off of what the doctor said, Ali was not fit to fight Holmes, who happened to be 8 years younger and stronger than him. Ali had come out of retirement in an attempt to become the first four time world heavyweight champion and already had slurred speech and slow reflexes. With his thyroid condition and all of the medication he was on, winning that fight was just not possible as sad as it may be. I believe that all of the hits that Ali took over his boxingcareer actually played a role in him later developing Parkinson s syndrome. He should of put his well being and health first, but at the end of the day I do believe he was following his heart and fought because he needed the money. The Challenges Of Immigrants In South Africa Countless United states citizens declare that immigrants come to the United States to break the law, take jobs away from natives, and seek aid from the government. Many do not stop to ask the question why immigrants come to this country? Or why are they willing to work at such a low wage? Coming from immigrant family myself, I have been judged and condemned by my background. But no one has bothered to ask my background story of what is feels to come from an immigrant family. I feel no shame and I feel proud where I came from, several will say horrible things about immigrants. Still I am one of the millions of immigrants that are in this country going through similar challenges. I , who just turned 19, was seeking to experience a once in a lifetime experience, but my question was: Is Skydiving worth all the hype? Before making the decision of where or when to jump, I had to go through the most basic human instinct question: Where was my money going? Not only is there the main cost of the experience, but I had found there is all these addition
  • 8. The Life Of Everyday Life In Colonial America Everyday life in colonial America was made up of large cities, rural settlements, and frontier regions. Life in colonial America was nothing short of difficult. The large cities were made up of many classes of people ranging from wealthy to slaves. There were some that had very specific skills as well as communication skills and others who had nothing. The wealthy people dreamed of what they were going to do in the future, however the middle class people dreamed but did not plan. They were better off than the average poor person, but still worked very hard sunrise to sunset. In this paper I will provide information on what life was like for various aspects and people groups in colonial America. Slavery in colonial America was a hard way of life. Slaves varied in ages and gender. Slaves were assigned a task or tasks that had to be completed during the day. The male slaves would participate in the hard labor such as working on the farm. The female slaves would generally work in the household, sent on errands or spent most of their time with the house owner. Female slaves were forced into sexual relationships for reproduction. Reproduction would either be forced between one African slave and another or between the slave and the house owner. Slaves were also treated like livestock and being bought, sold and traded among owners. For the enslaved people they had to endure being separated from their families when captured or when sold at the slave market. Their new

American exceptionalism has various definitions and has been used by many politicians. The most accurate way to define American exceptionalism, though, would be to think of it as a concept that refers to the United Statesof America as a uniquely free country that is different from other nations based on its principles, history, and political system. Over the years, American exceptionalism has been an important topic of debate with people asking whether it is real and whether it is good. The purpose of this paper is to argue whether American exceptionalism is a real concept that makes America unique from other nations. I seek to show how the idea of American exceptionalism, which has been discussed by many people since the 19th century, could be real and flawed at the same time. Ultimately, this research will shed light on the different myths of American exceptionalism as well as whether it makes America a unique democracy and how diverse groups of people interpret it. Although the United States of America is thought of as an exceptional nation, the term, American exceptionalism itself, is believed to be extraordinary in one way or another. American exceptionalism refers to America as a unique land of great opportunity that is extremely different from other nations. According to Stephen M. A faint buzz whizzes into the ear drums as shells and bullets fluster by with brilliant flashes of light. These are the everyday encounters of a soldier on the front. No words can even begin to touch the realness of terror that soldiers experience every day. Young recruits are reeled into this torture and sacrifice everything they have and love for their country. Lively hopefuls are transformed into the unfeeling. The soldiers must think of memories as, too grievous for us [them] to reflect on them at once. (pp. 138) They forget, lest their state of mind plummet. Along with that, there were a few composition shots but everything else was sloppy and shots were edited terribly. The beginning started outside in the daylight, cloudy day, on what seemed to be a very busy street with honking of cars and a medium shot of a taxi cab. Dramatic music starts as we are introduced to the first character by using a hand held shot following this character, but it has way to many quick cuts in between that we can t get a sense of what the character s face actually looks like. It cuts to a medium shot of that character wearing a black coat, to a rapid pan down shot of a building to a close up shot of the character s side face. This would have been better if it were a direct over the shoulder pan down or up of the actor looking at a building. Then it cuts to that character s reflection looking at writing on a door, with a close up and quick pan, that was not even a pan, it was a quick cut that was unessary, instead the camera could of panned while the actor walked down the hall. There are typically three types of news stories journalists look for: natural events or disasters, a person, group, or organization completing some newsworthy act, and when journalists themselves develop their own story through beat reporting ( News ). Once these stories have been found, it is imperative that journalists report on these events both accurately and objectively. This balance is imperative for journalists to maintain because according to Greenberg and Wheelwright, a key aspect of journalistic ethics is the management of readers expectations (514). Although the field as a whole has been transforming due to the online news media, considering what is newsworthy for the general public has always been a main concern for journalists. As a result of this transformation, trust in the news media has drastically decreased over the past several years for a variety of reasons, which is why a revival of essential journalistic values, such as honesty and integrity, is needed. The Poetry Of An Author Many critics of poetry are of the opinion to approach the poems or works of an author ignoring or disregarding their biographical features , as if did not influence at all on the design and creation of his poems . While it is true that some sepsis can help when it comes to not fall into false interpretations or twisted and complicated analogies , which amounts to combine meanings of certain verses to personal circumstances experienced by its author, it is no less true that a good biographical knowledge of vital events of the authors can greatly help clear this or that dark side that we find in a poem or a work, the reasons why the title of one form or another or even the way they were ordered poems. In the case that concerns us Sylvia Plath I could not shake that biographism; What s more, thanks to him I met the poetry of this woman who, otherwise, would never have aroused my curiosity. So, biographical circumstance for some critics is almost like a curse. It has been the key element that led me to the poetry of this woman. My first approach to Sylvia Plath came after seeing the film Sylvia (a biopic, to increase my biographer fault) starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Daniel Craig in the role of the poet and her husband respectively. Already knowing the tragic end of Sylvia Plath, was the suicide scene in that movie that led me to delve into his life and therefore in his work . Sylvia s life had an end for me very attractive: suicide. It was from there, motivated by the

  • 31. A Philosophical View Of Animal Rights A Philosophical View of Animal Rights Should animals be harmed to benefit mankind? This pressing question has been around for at least the past two centuries. During the early nineteenth century, animal experiments emerged as an important method of science and, in fact, marked the birth of experimental physiology and neuroscience as we currently know it. There were, however, guidelines that existed even back then which restricted the conditions of experimentation. These early rules protected the animals, in the sense that all procedures performed were done so with as little pain as possible and solely to investigate new truths. So, it is easily seen how many views have accumulated over time. The task of determining animal rights has also come into the context of examining these inherent differences on qualitative and quantitative levels. We can say, for instance, that on a qualitative level, a cow is less intelligent than a human. But, we must then determine, on a quantitative level, how much more unintelligent that cow really is when compared to humans. And, once we decide that, we must then decide if that margin of intelligence is enough for us humans to slaughter that cow in order to benefit human kind from its products. Questions like this and others, which are very similar, have become the snowballing debate over the question of animal rights. Where do we draw the line? How do we determine the value of another being?s life? Well, up to this point, we as a society have been pretty confident in judging the lives of millions of animals worldwide (or so we can conclude by looking at the number of animals sacrificed each year for the purpose of experiment, education, goods, etc.). We must first step back and analyze the ethical dilemma at hand and then proceed to carefully weigh its consequences. If we examine the question of animal rights cautiously, it is most often viewed as an ethical dilemma as opposed to an economic or

Throughout my life, especially during more challenging experiences, I felt God nearby, present, and engaged in my life, especially through communion. At other times, God feels more distant, more mysterious, and more unavailable. This ebb and flow in my relationship with God allows me to be comfortable with God being three in one and both immanent and transcendent. I also experience God in moments of tension, when caught between two seemingly distant paradigms. By acknowledging the mystery of God, I am able to have a relationship with God, while God remains infinite and beyond full human comprehension. I believe that God created the world and continues to remain active and responsive to the world as it is. God is, first and foremost, loving. God remains with us, even when we turn away and sin. God s love is greater than we can ever imagine.

This article reviewed the timing of puberty and its effect on the family unit. This article defined the timing of puberty as one of three categories, early onset, on time or late maturer. The need for further research in this area was necessary because previous studies often contradicted each other. This particular study was completed using participants that were white, highly educated and from upper middle class families with one parentand one adolescent from each familyparticipating. The study tried to use equal numbers of fathers and mothers as much as possible but complete equality was not always possible because more mothers participated than fathers. The adolescents were between the ages of 10 and 17 years old and were various stages of puberty. Each adolescent was assessed based on their visible signs of secondary sex features such as facial hair, hip width, height, weight and chest development. They were then divided into the three pubertal timing categories previously mentioned with over 70% of the adolescents being on time maturers, and a relatively equal number of boys and girls. Both the parent and child were given a questionnaire. Parents were instructed to complete the questionnaire with no help from their child or spouse. The adolescents were given questionnaires in a group setting and all questionnaires were returned within thirty

Women are the nation s primary, fundamental root, from which all else grows and blossoms. (BГў 61 62) Although Ramatoulaye identifies and celebrates the importance of women as their own separate group, it would that she does without having to subordinate women to men. Using the ability to create life, she acknowledges the inherent difference between men and women without creating a hierarchy between them. This deconstruction of the male female hierarchy is crucial in moving away from the patriarch dominated world into one of equality: For patriarchs, difference is understood in terms of inequality, distinction, or opposition, a sexual difference modeled on negative, binary, or oppositional structures within which only one of the two terms has any autonomy; the other is defined only
