Formal Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Formal Essays" is not without its challenges. At first glance,
the topic may seem straightforward, as one might assume that discussing formal essays would
involve a mere enumeration of their characteristics and rules. However, delving deeper reveals
the intricacies that make this task demanding.
The difficulty lies in striking a balance between providing a comprehensive overview of the
conventions associated with formal essays and delving into the nuanced aspects that distinguish
them from other forms of writing. One must navigate through the realms of structure, tone, and
style, while also exploring the significance of adherence to formal language and the avoidance of
personal bias.
Moreover, the challenge is compounded by the need to engage the reader intellectually, offering
insights that go beyond the surface-level understanding of formal essays. A successful essay on
this topic must not only educate but also provoke thought, prompting readers to consider the
purpose and impact of formal essays in various contexts.
Research plays a pivotal role in overcoming these hurdles, requiring a meticulous exploration of
scholarly articles, academic papers, and authoritative sources. Crafting a well-rounded essay
demands a synthesis of diverse perspectives, contributing to a more nuanced and comprehensive
understanding of the subject.
Additionally, the writer must exhibit a mastery of language and rhetoric, employing eloquence
and precision to convey ideas effectively. The task involves not only explaining the mechanics of
formal essays but also demonstrating a proficiency in applying these principles within the essay

Acceptance and Denial in Alice Walker s Everyday Use
Essay
Mama, the protagonist in Alice Walker s short story, Everyday Use is a woman with
a solid foundation and tough roots. The qualities that society would find admirable
within Mama are the same qualities that Dee, Mama s oldest daughter, would spurn,
thinking them only the qualities of a down home, uneducated, country bumpkin. Dee,
the story s main antagonist, is proof that children are not necessarily products of their
environment.
From the beginning of the story we see that Mama, who describes herself as a large,
big boned woman with rough, man working hands (68) has no illusions about the
type of woman she is; however, she still has enough depth to dream about being
reunited with her daughter Dee on television in a fantasy ... Show more content on

For a guest to make such a statement about a meal prepared for him in the presence of
his hostess shows such a breach of etiquette that even Wangero should have
reprimanded him. Wangero, however, chooses to ignore the insult and instead shows
through her healthy appetite that her newfound convictions do not extend as far as
the dinner table.
After dinner Wangero shows the true meaning of her visit when she starts to
examine different artifacts in the house and asking Mama if she can have them.
Mama and Maggie show their love of the items Wangero has requested by being able
to state who had made them and what they had been made of. Maggie emphasizes
Wangero s lack of understandingand compassion by stating accurately that the
dasher from the butter churn had been carved by Aunt Dee s first husband Henry
who everyone called Stash. Wangero makes a joke of Maggie s memory (72) by
saying she had the brain of an elephant. Once again Mama displays patience of
astronomical proportions. To Wangero, the churn top and the dasher are items that
she can use to impress her peers. They have no sentimental value and she would
probably not even know how to use them. She does not need them and yet, knowing
how poor her mother and sister are, she still has the gall to confiscate a valuable
kitchen tool only to put them on display.
Mama does not show another side to her character until Wangero tries to take the

Amazon s Diversification Strategy Analysis
Amazon s diversification strategy Diversification strategies involve broadening the
scope of an organization across different products and market sectors. It requires an
organization to explore new experiences and knowledge outside its existing markets
and products (Business Case Studies). Strategic management is a business concept
that consists of strategy analysis, creation, implementation and monitoring, used by
organizations in order to achieve and maintain a competitive advantage (as cited by
Jurevicius, 2013). The following parts discuss Amazon s strategy with a focus on the
company s competitive advantage and its customers. Amazon s Global Strategy
Amazon has been able to maintain sustainable competitive advantage because the
company has adopted cost leadership, differentiation and growth strategies. Cost
Leadership Low cost leadership is pursued by Amazon by differentiating itself
primarily on the basis of price. Amazon s goal is to become customer centric, aiming
to offer a wide range of products with lower prices and convenience to its customers.
It can be seen that the company believes offering low prices and focusing on
customers are fundamental to Amazon s success. Over the time, Amazon seeks to
mitigate the costs in order to lower the prices through achieving higher sales volumes.
The company also finds many ways to negotiate to obtain better terms with their
suppliers, and achieving better operating efficiencies. Amazon always ensures that
they maintain
The Invention Of The Hubble Telescope
Many years ago, astronomers never would have been able to know as much as they
do today. With the many advancements in technology, we are now able to retrieve
information about the solar system, the galaxies around us, and many more things.
As of now, there has been tons of new discoveries all due to the Hubble Telescope.
This telescope has done amazing things for astronomers. It has introduced new
planets, stars, and many unknown things. The Hubble Telescope has made amazing
discoveries and has many more to find. There are four main topics. The first topic
will be about the astronomer Edwin Hubble. The second topic is about the telescope
itself like when it was built, how, and how it works. The third topic will be about
the telescope s discoveries and the final topic will be the implications of those
discoveries. All these topics show the importance of the Hubble Telescope. Edwin

NASA then tried to figure out how to continue their plans. After the explosion it was
hard for them to send the telescope into space. It was about four years later before
they finally sent the telescope into space. When they got the telescope into space they
found something wrong with the telescope. They had placed the primary mirror
incorrectly causing the images to come out blurry. According to NASA s article
About The Hubble Space Telescope, It was just slightly the wrong shape, causing the
light that bounced off the center of the mirror to focus in a different place than the
light bouncing off the edge. The tiny flaw about 1/50th the thickness of a sheet of
paper was enough to distort the view. Fortunately the telescope had been built with
interchangeable parts. So the astronomers were able to fix it and continue using the

Physical And Treatment Of Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy is one of the most important medical health related fields out
there. Physical Therapists play a crucial role in their patient s overall health.
However, the main goals of a Physical Therapist is to aid in recovery, rehab,
increase range of motion, and reduce pain for their patients. During a normal work
day, they will typically see a variety of patients whose age can range from an eight
year old to an 85 year old, and each one with a challenging and unique health issue.
These issues can be anything from a post surgical athlete trying to get back on the
playing field to a 65 year old grandma who has hip and knee problems and needs
exercises to strengthen those areas. In order for their patients to strengthen or
rehabilitate a certain area, a treatment plan needs to be developed. Here, PT s select
exercises, stretches, and other techniques which they think will help their patient s
recovery process and get them back to normal. Therefore, treatment plans are one of
the most important aspects of the job description. Although these Physical Therapists
are medical professionals, they cannot include everything in their treatment plans. For
example, they cannot perform surgery or give prescription medications because they
are not technically specialized or fully qualified to do so. But instead, they can
recommend their patient s to a doctor who can perform surgery on them or suggest a
medication a Physician can prescribe to them. Typically, Physical Therapists
Surprise, Security, And The American Experience
Review of surprise, security, and the American experience
There are a lot of things analyze the shifts in American foreign policy have been
written before the famous day America lose it sense of security Sept 11. Thing like
news reports, articles and books. Theses are some of those books :Rogue Nation, The
Bubble of American Supremacy, Top Secret America: The Rise of the New American
Security State.
There are some books who are against America that don t hesitate to compare it to
evil countries like Germany during ww2. Then there are book that claim that the CIA
was actually behind the 9/11 attacks. Then there is Surprise, Security, and the
American Experience, a non bias attempt to analyze America foreign policy in its real
context and without any unwanted criticism. The author is John Lewis Gaddis, a
historian of the cold war, who taught at Ohio University and Yale.
Now in Surprise, Security, and the American Experience, there were three big shifts
in the history of united states foreign policy, each one was by a surprise attack on
America. The first one happen when the British sacked Washington on August 24,
1814. This exposure of America led John Quincy Adams, as President, to come up
with ways the U.S. Should define it self.
Adams was aware of the fact that the United States had a lot of borders to defend, but
only limited means with which to defend them. So Adams can up with the idea that

Online Dating Vs. Internet Dating
Being brought up in a traditional family, where my parents will be married forty
nine years next year, it is hard for me to understand married people going
frequenting online dating sites. I now realize after Googling married people online
dating that married people using online dating services is not only a very common
practice, there appear to be online dating servicethat target married people looking
for a date or more. Many married people are finding the temptation of online dating
irritable. On e website is stating that 150,000 married people join online dating
sites each month and these sites are doing there best to increase their member
enrollment. What is it that makes these sites so attractive? Experts say it is the
anonymity of it all. Online you can be anybody you want, you can be any age and
you can look like anyone that you desire. In other words, you can leave your true
self behind and exist in a fantasy world for the time being. This fantasy world is
very appealing to a person that may be bored or experiencing problems in their real
life relationship. Married online dating is a way of leaving those problems behind,
at least for the time being. You do not have to sneak out and go to hotel. You
perfect date is as close as your mouse and in most cases, online dating is relatively
easy to conceal, at least for a short time. Most people who participate in online dating
do not consider it cheating, because there was no touching involved. I guess it all

Designing A New Methodology For C Bond Formation
The biaryl scaffold has received increased attention as a privileged structure by the
Pharmaceutical industry.16 Over the last two decades, methods for preparing
biaryls have relied predominantly on cross coupling. The power of this method
was recognized and won a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in the 2010, one of the biaryl
compounds biphenyl is shown in (Figure 8). Figure 8. Structure of Biaryl1.5
Tellurium Chemistry Tellurium is a metalloid belonging to group VI in the
periodic table. It has many applications in organic synthesis, alloys in machining
process, and improves fabrication properties. Organotellurium compounds have
much wide range of applications in metallurgy, agrochemical industry and material
science.17 1.6 Research Objective The main aim of our research is to develop a
new methodology for C C bond formation by using diaryl, divinyl and dialkyl
tellurides as starting materials. We are going to explore if these tellurium containing
compounds will undergo detelluration (removal of tellurium) reaction under
palladium catalyst to give the biaryl, bivinyl or other C C bond forming products.
2. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION 2.1 Synthesis of diaryl tellurides The symmetrical
diaryl telluride was prepared using aryl iodide and elemental tellurium as the starting
material with the aid of KOH as a base in the solvent of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO).
The
African Independence Research Paper
New leaders, who were union leaders, soldiers, and educated university student,
arrived and skillfully promoted the Africa for Africans vision in hopes of
independence and nationalism.
Some of these leaders were Jomo Kenyatta from Kenya, Julius Nyerere from
Tanganyika, and Nnamdi Azikiwe from Nigeria.
The distaste of British and French citizen lead the British and French to consider the
African demands for representation in their government and independence.
African Independence was achieved either peacefully with minimal violence, like
Ghana, or slow and extremely violent, like Algeria and Kenya.
The battle for independence was violent in some cases because those nations were

African nations were slowly reverting, so many nations grew more cash crops which
lead them to import most of their food.
Crop production remained fairly low while fertility and population were on the rise,
meaning that they were living in chronic food insecurity .
Village and countryside dweller were driven toward cities and towns for labor or the

Africa s population was increasing too rapidly for their available supplies and there
was not much being done to control it.
Their valuable lumber is being rapidly exported and the lack of arable land is

Ethical Dilemma Jekyll And Hyde
1. Ethical Dilemma: Jekyll and Hyde 1 18 The starting salary and minimum offer I
would accept from Gabriel is $60,000. I don t think giving Gabriel a different
number than my internal number would violate Jekyll Corporation s transparent
culture. The first reason I don t think it would violate the transparent culture is
because I am not an employee yet and secondly sometimes there are things that
shouldn t be mentioned. Maybe by being truthful I would be able to get the job. 1
19 The news article would affect whether I would accept the job offer or not. The
reason that it would affect my decision is that if the company is behaving unethically,
then I could be negatively impacted by it. Also, I would question the company s

2. Case: Apple Goes Global 1 21 pros: promotes global economic growth, reduces
trading barriers, drives prices down, and provides countries to the chance to
economically develop. Cons: jobs are lost, pay cut demands, exploit tax havens,
the risk of our technologies to being copied or stolen, and exploitation of labor. 1
22 I think Apple was justified in drawing the observations and conclusions
expressed. If Apple found that through Globalization they get better quality
products, then they should express their findings. I think it wasn t harmful that
Apple voiced their opinions. I think it would be helpful for the United Sates. If the
US takes action in trying to develop more motivated and adaptable citizens, then
we would be better off economically and our productivity would increase. 1 22
Managers could use this as a leverage to have businesses bring their production to
the United Sates. I would recommend finding ways to motivate my employees and
develop their ability to adapt to bring a more diligent and flexible workforce. 1. Case:

David Mallett is a highly sought after hairstylist from Paris. His salon demands

How Does Randall Jarrell Use the Imagery in
Durer’s...
How does Randall Jarrell use the imagery in Durer s engraving of the knight, the
devil and death to symbolically convey a philosophy of life using powerful poetic
devices?
The knight, Death and the Devil poem written by Randall Jarrell, based on the
engraving by German artist Albert Durer depicting a valiant knight, on horseback
treading along the path of life. A path beset on all sides by many obstacles, and the
dark forces ranged against the knight in his journey. Created in 1513, Durer s
engraving s key characters include a Knight in armour, riding along a narrow road
with the grinning devil at one end and on the other, a figure of death in the form of
deceased knight. Jarrell uses the elements of the vivid imagery contained in ... Show

Companioned so, the Knight moves through this world
Thus protected he is able to
He listens in assurance, has no glance
To spare for them, but look s past steadily
The fourth and final stanza portrays externalizations of our feelings for Death and the
Devil thus making them allegorical figures.
Death of his own flesh, set up outside him
The flesh of his own soul, set up outside him
Jarrell uses repetition as a device in the final stanza to emphasize the importance and
allegory of these figures towards the Knight.
His being accuses him yet his face is firm
The alliteration of face and firm exaggerates the strength of the Knight, to reinforce
the meaning of his power in the reader s mind.
In resolution, in absolute persistence
The folds of smiling do for steadiness
The face is its own fate a man does what he must
And the body underneath it says I am.
Randall Jarrell includes another allegory to explain how the Knight kept a steady
state of mind to strengthen the body to not display his real feelings in his soul. His
look completed him, and determining his own fate by forcing a straight face.
Imagery has been used historically to convey morality. Jarrell is using imagery in a
similar way to reinforce and decorate the poem in a profound way by contrasting the
robust and valiant figure of the Knight onto everything that we come

Growth Pressures
All companies have moments of growth and decline. As companies age, change in
the form of growth is brought about (Palmer, 2009, p.65). Companies look for the
increases in revenue and ways to create more revenue. When money is being made
growth happens, new jobs are created, expansions begin and technology is
heightened. Last week Time WarnerCable announced that there will be a new CEO,
as the current CEO, Glenn Britt will be retiring. The new CEO, Rob Marcus talked
about the growth pressures concerning Time Warner Cable. Mr. Marcus emphasized

Flexibility can be a reason for changes in the competitive environment in an
appropriate and timely way. Flexibility comes from managerial capabilities

in today s fast paced and changing world. (Englehardt, 2002)

Beautiful Men And Women In Greco-Greek Mythology
Throughout mythology, there are various stories of infidelity, sexual assault, sexual
orientation, and other forms of deviance. However, this was never questioned
throughout the literature, a character was never discriminated for cheating on his
/her spouse, being with the same sex, or for taking advantage of another
individual. In this paper, I plan to discuss certain examples where these incidents
took place and why was it okay for the incidents to occur. Beautiful men and
women are described in great detail throughout Greco Roman mythology. Women
were typically depicted as having a tiny waist, full breasts, long hair and full hips.
While men are seen as tall, lean, muscular, with a great head of hair and often a
thick beard. Genders were either very feminized or masculinized, and gender roles
were very prominent during this time as well. Zeusis one of the primary examples of
adultery in mythology. He is married to Hera, Queen of the gods and goddess of
marriage. Despite of Zeus s marriage, he had multiple other relationships with
various characters. It was very common for Zeus to transform into an eagle, bull, or
another creature and then capture his young prey. Zeus s sexual orientation is very
versatile throughout mythology, however he showed preference to female sexuality.
Zeus raped Leda, daughter of the Aetolian king, Thestius, in the guise of a swan;
raped Danae, a princess of Argos, disguised as the rain, and raped Ganymede, a male
mortal. Adultery is also a

events that should not be forgotten, such as the war crime, this happened in one

attack will cause incidental loss of civilian life, injury to civilians or damage to
civilian objects which would be clearly excessive in relation to the concrete and
direct military advantage anticipated;(3)making non defended localities and
demilitarized zones the object of attack. However, it is challenging to interpret
every state of affairs within only a single definition. The first war crimes tribunal
since the end of World War II was in Yugoslavia. International Criminal Tribunal for
the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) states, Between 1991 and 1995, the Yugoslav Army
and Serbian paramilitaries occupied sections of Croatia. In mid 1995, the Croatian
army reclaimed this territory, pushing out the Yugoslav Army and expelling many
of the ethnic Serbs who had been living there for generations......generated a huge
number of civilian casualties, human rights violations, and war crimes. To assess
these crimes and determine culpability, even as the wars continued to rage, the
United Nations established the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former
Yugoslavia (ICTY) in 1993. Serbian and Croatian leaders sacrificed civilians in
order to fulfill their egoistic ambition to get a territory of Bosnia. It fact, war crime

goal. In the article the Truth About No Gun Ri, the author complicates matters further
by stating, That anxiety has been heightened by the ex Yugoslavia war crimes

7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Book Review)
Habit 1: Be Proactive
According to Stephen Covey, the unique trait that we, people, are separated from
animals is the ability to think about our very thought process or what we call, self
awareness . In the social mirror, it was stated that seeing our own selves is like
facing the crazy mirror room in the carnival. Our reactions are based on the
opinions, perceptions, and the paradigm of others about us. But self awareness
enables us to stand apart and examine even the way we see ourselves our self
paradigm, the most fundamental paradigm of effectiveness. It affects not only our
attitudes and behavior, but also how we see other people. There are three social maps
or three theories of determinism widely accepted, independently or ... Show more

They are always in focused and they didn t let their environment to empower them.
They believe in Eleanor Roosevelt s words, No one can hurt you without your
consent or Gandhi s principle which states, They cannot take away our self respect if
we do not give it to them. Our response to what happened to us affects us more than
what actually happened. We can choose to use difficult situations to build our
character and develop the ability to better handle such situations in the future. Being
proactive means assessing the situation and developing a positive response for it.
We should expand our Circle of Influences not reduce it and focus on expanding our
Circle of Concerns because proactive people do focus their efforts in the Circle of
Influences.
Insights:
I have come to realized that self awareness is very essential for us, human beings.
It is a gift from our Creator that we should cherish and a possession that we should
be proud of. It is the unique trait that separates us from animals. Because of this, we
always have the freedom to choose, the power to choose the right response in a
particular stimulus. Let s take Frankl s story as an inspiration. We must learn how to
make difference. We must stand with our own beliefs. And our reactions and
behaviors should not be affected by the environment around us. We must stop from
being a reactive people, who keeps on blaming other people for their behavior.
Jollibee
Jollibee Foods Corporation: International Expansion 1.1. What sources of
competitive advantage was it able to develop against McDonald s in its home
market? Firstly, Jollibee was the first mover in the sector of burgers in Philippines,
shaping customer preferences and expectations, instead of McDonald s or KFC.
Secondly, Jollibee was young, and very small in comparison of McDonald s whose
force worldwide is standardization. The burger company serves millions of exactly
identical sandwich each year in dozen of countries so that McDonald s customers can
find their favourite BigMac taste wherever they go. McDonald s is used to reducing
costs by having huge economies of scale. But on new markets, such as Philippines,

with three options described at the end of the case? How would you implement
your decision? The 3 options described are: Planting the flag in Papua New
Guinea, Expanding the base in Hong Kong, and Supporting the settlers in
California. 1. Planting the flag in Papua New Guinea Papua New Guinea is a
small country of five million people currently served by one poorly managed 3
store fast food Australian chain. By entering the market, Jollibee could raise the
quality of service and food in order to capture the Australian chain s market share
while discouraging further entrants. There were however fears that Papua New
Guinea could not support the 20 stores that were target critical mass for new
markets. 2. Expanding the base in Hong Kong The initial proposal is to expand to
a fourth store in Hong Kong. The issue in that case is that the new store would be
located in an area which saw far fewer Filipinos than in the previous areas and, as a
result, would have to depend on locals. Appealing to the locals had however proven
to be very difficult in Hong Kong. Several factors may explain this failure:

Research Paper On 12 Angry Men
11 to 1, okay this is the results of the first vote by the jury in the movie 12 Angry
Men. The jury is to decide if an 18 year of boy is guilty of first degree murder. If he
is found guilty is will be sent to the chair. In the movie 12 Angry Men the actor
playing Mr. Davis used his morals of finding the truth, kindness, and the belief that
every life matters to make the jury study the details of the case.
Finding the truth of what happened on the night of the murder is critical to Mr. Davis.
First, he forces the jury to look at the murder weapon. It is a switch knife with a
pattern on the handle. According to the store owner he sold a knife just like it to
the 18 year old boy and he has very seen another one like it, yet when Mr. Davis
goes to the same store he finds and buys a switch knife identical to the murder
weapon. Knowing this there is a chance that that someone other than the boy has
committed the murder. Second, and old man says that he hears the boy yell I ll kill
you , then a split second later hears the body hit the floor, but this is all happening
with the L train going by. It is agreed upon by jury that an L train with 6 cars would
take 10 second to pass by. Mr. Davis does not stop their though. He asks if anyone
has ever lived by the L tracks and no one has but him. Mr. Davis states When the L
train goes by its so loud you can barely hear yourself think. Soon another member of
the jury says that he was painting a building by the L tracks and when it
Why Citizen Kane is the Best Movie Ever Made Essay
The debate over Casablanca and Citizen Kane has been a classic argument between
film critics and historians alike, and this is because both of these pieces are
timeless pictures that have managed to captivate audiences well after their era. On a
broad spectrum analysis this is an apples and oranges debate as the two films both
have great cinematographic value but for different reasons. However, the real
question at hand is which film is the greatest? Which film transformed the future of
American film making? It is these questions that I as many others have, will attempt
to answer in the following essay as I explain why I believe Citizen Kaneis the greatest
film ever made.
Citizen Kane was produced, co written, directed, and lead acted ... Show more content

Editor Robert Wise was said to have blended 127 different clips of film into the
newsreel, some of which were actual news footage while the others were staged
shots of the actors. Later Welles was said to have aged these by dragging the
negatives across a concrete floor.
In the closing of the newsreel we find ourselves in a room full of highly shadowed
journalists, with little to no recognizable faces. Reporter Jerry Thompson is
directed by his editor to pursue ominous feel as we are slowly taken closer to Kane
s mansion and are shown a lite window which fades to black, and snowflakes
suddenly fill the screen. As the camera pulls back, a snow covered cabin comes
into view. The camera pulls back more quickly to show that what we have been
looking at is actually just a scene inside a snow globe in the hand of an old man.
The story of Kane s dying words and from there we are taken back to Kane s youth
through the innovative use of flashbacks, which are instigated by Thompson as he
meets with different people who were close to Kane.
One such flashback begins at Thatcher s building where the reporter Thompson
enters an exaggeratedly large room and begins to read about Kane. This is one of the
scenes in which cinematographer Greg Toland s deep focus technique of filming and
use of unique lighting, in which the only light source hits
Genesis Vs. The Iroquois Creation Myth
Creation stories are tools used to try to explain the unexplainable. For centuries
humans have been searching for answers to the what, when, why, and how questions
that encompass life. Genesis and the Iroquois Creation Myth are two different stories
that seek to describe the creation of Earth and the universe that surrounds it. Genesis
describes a Christian perspective, particularly one of the most popular Western
explanations to life on Earth. The Iroquois Creation Myth, on the other hand, takes a
less traditional approach, while only mildly alluding to religion. The similarities
between the two lie in the timeless battle of good versus evil. The two stories both
pit the idea of good against evil to explain the contrasting mechanisms of
Relationship Between Fathers and Sons Essay
Both poems My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke and Those Winter Sundays by
Robert Hayden are poems in which the speaker (a son in both cases) attempts to
explain his complex relationship with his father. It seems that the two poets are
reflecting back in their early lives as young boys and showing different appreciation
toward their father. In my interpretation My Papa s Waltz is about a boyand that is
excited that his father got home to play with him. Only problem is the speakers
father is drunk and it hard to enjoy himself but he held on because the unconditional
lovehe has for him, as the line says The Whiskey on your breath / could make a boy
dizzy; / But I hung like death: (1 2 3). However, Those Winter Sundays is more...

Also is a sign of being responsible and not indolent.
The impression that I get from My Papa s Waltz is that the boy s father is an
alcoholic and irresponsible. I say this because as the father and the boy were
playing around in the kitchen The unconscious father could of drop a hot pan that
the mother could have been cooking on and cause serious damage. That to me
shows that the father don t really think about the possibilities. On the contrary
Those Winter Sundays Sundays too my father got up early (1) shows that the
father is a hard workingman, that everyday of the week he is up early with
cracked hands that ached / from labor in the weekday weather made (3 4). The
speaker s father is a man that did hard labor to keep heat in the house and also made
sure his son was looking sharp for example, polished my good shoes as well (12).
Overall he was very responsible and loving even though the speaker didn t think so at
the time seeing that he didn t show appreciation and no one ever thanked him (5).
When it comes to the mood the speakers portray different attitudes towards their
fathers. In My Papa s Waltz the speakers mood is positive while the poet reflect
back negatively and in Those Winter Sundays the speaker attitude is like whatever
and negative while the poet also reflect back an realizes that his father was a

In addition, lorry is their word for a truck. While their words are greatly differently
then American words people from both countries would understand what the other
was saying. While many of these of the types of English vary as much as American
and British English, it is still understood around the world. Without there being
English many of the Presidents, dictators, tyrants, and terrorist couldn t understand
each other. At all of their meeting there would have to be someone that spoke all of
the languages that the members of the meeting spoke, or several translators which
would make the it even more difficult. Also, with all the types of ethnic groups that
are in America, there was to be one common language that everybody can
understand. If America didn t speak English, everybody in America, and around
the world, would have to find one common language for the entire world to learn to
speak. English was merely the easiest for everybody to pick up. English can be
traced back as far as the early 1100 s B.C. The Anglo Saxons in England spread
their language as many different enemies tried to take over England, but failed.
They would force their prisoners to learn their language, and inter grade themselves
into society. The language grew even more steadily as the criminals of England
were being sailed all the way around the world to Australia. The criminals would be

Explain The Conditions In Factories In The 1800s
In the 1800s almost everything was created in a factories. You need people to
work in there so it created more jobs for people to work at. A lot of the times it was
kids working in there because they are small and can get in the small parts of the
machines so it made the adults jobs easier but put a lot of kids in danger of the
machines. The conditions in the factories were always bad. If it was in the
summer the workers would get very hot and in the winter they would mostly
freeze and it would be hard for them to work. They would have to work very long
periods at a time and would have to work 12 hours or more a day. This would make
the workers very tired and not have almost any free time and live some workers to

Pollution Of The Ocean Pollution
So many things are taken for granted in this world. Visiting places like the
Dominican Republic and Hawaii is exciting and beautiful. They are a serene and
relaxing place to be, but this beauty is in jeopardy. Pollution of the ocean causes these
exotic beaches to become unpleasing to the senses. The pollutionof the ocean problem
goes much deeper than just looking unpleasant. From sea life to the environmental
impacts, pollution in the ocean is an immediate and growing problem that must be
addressed.
Pollution of the ocean is widely seen all around. The litter comes in so many very
different forms that are almost terrifying. It ranges from a cigarette to a 4,000
pound fishing net (Franc, 2013). Medical waste such as needles were even noticed
in New York and New Jersey in 1988. The world s merchant shipping fleet in 1975
was blamed for 85% of 14 billion pounds of garbage dumped into the sea (Amaral,
n.d.). Out of all of the garbage and waste in the ocean it is said that more than 80%
of the garbage in the ocean comes from land alone (Mosbergen, 2017). In just one
hour, nine minutes, and 44 seconds, a very large number of 2,877,783 pounds of
plastic has entered the ocean (Leeson Elliot, 2016). Today after all of the dumping
that goes on there are over 25 trillion pieces of plastic inside of the ocean. While
that is a large number, only 269,000 tons can be seen afloat the water ( Ocean
Pollution: 14 Facts that will Blow Your Mind, 2017). The easier way of explaining
just how much waste enters our ocean would be just to say too much, but to be
exact, in 2007 2.12 billion tons of garbage enter the ocean and just three years later
in 2010, 215 million metric tons of plastic entered the ocean (Lonne, 2016). In 2006
the United Nations Environment Program did an experiment on how much plastic
there was every square mile of the ocean. They ended up estimating about 46,000
pieces of plastic every square mile ( Facts and Figures on Marine Pollution, 2017). In
the Northern Pacific Ocean lies the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. It is said to be about
seven million square miles ( Marine Debris Impacts, n.d.). Plastic accounts for about
70% of all the litter in the ocean and can take a very short time or a very long time
Keurig Dope
The innovative pods called k cups have turned the world of coffee brewing upside
down. A company called Keurig began making and selling high quality coffee makers
in 1992. Six years later, they developed a coffee brewer that would brew one superior
cup of coffee at a time. The little pods of coffee or tea that would be placed inside
the innovative coffeemakers were called Keurig cups, which became k cups.
The key concepts behind k cups are controlled brewing and variety. The amount of
finely ground coffee and tea inside the pods is portioned very precisely. Controlling
how much premium coffee or tea is in the pod is a way of determining the taste of

Do you remember how that was: some people in the office wanted a very strong
coffee and others preferred a milder blend? With a Keurig coffee maker system, those
disagreements are over, because every person in the office can choose their own type
of coffee or tea to drink. Brewing with k cups makes a perfectly proportioned cup
when you are filling a cup of any size. Most of the Keurig coffee makers have a
removable cup tray, which allows you to fill your travel mug.
The same technology that built Keurig coffee makers and k cups for offices goes
into the ultra modern Keurig coffee maker for home use. Controlled, consistent
brewing and over 200 varieties of coffees, teas, hot cocoas, and iced beverages to
choose from make Keurig the coffee making favorite. Being able to choose what
type of beverage you like at home morning, noon, and night is a great treat for you,
your family, and your guests. Besides that, a Keurig coffee maker would look terrific

America s New York City
Donald Trump speaks among a crowd of hundreds: They re bringing drugs. They
re bringing crime. They re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. This is
how a portion of American citizens perceive immigrants, and as the 2016
Presidential election gets closer the word immigration gets treated more delicately as
if it were a new phenomenon. However, immigration is no new or delicate subject
for New York City. In fact, residents (like in Queens) find it odd if a New Yorker isn
t of hybrid generation (Eichenbaum, Tour). The history of New York City has been
painted by the millions and millions of immigrants that have touched its land. It s a
cycle: one group of immigrants come, stay, and leave while another new group of
immigrants settle down. This continuous sequence is what makes New York City
such an innovative city when it comes to immigrants.
The Statue of Liberty in the early 19th century
Countless individuals connect the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island to immigration
in the early history of New York/nation. However, we have records of immigrants
long before 1886, when the Statue of Liberty was placed. The first of these immigrant
settlers were primarily the Dutch, whose control was supplanted by the British in
1664 (Haberstroh, Web). Not until the mid 19th century did New York City see
immigrants settling in great numbers. One of the earliest immigrant populations to
settle on the Lower East Side in masse were the Germans. By the 1850 s the massive

Signs Of Human Trafficking
Human tracking is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of
forced labor. It is unjustified for anyone to experience being forced to do anything
that they don t want to do. Human trafficking is now the modern day slavery. Law
enforcement officials should be aware for the signs of a human that is being
victimized by a trafficker and help needs to be provided to those victims who are or

The Importance She Puts Upon Herself
the importance she puts upon herself. In her first scene, she will be wearing a
purple dress with black lace over it. It needs to be intense, with the cut of the collar
going down to below her breasts, and connecting just above her belly button. Then
it will be slit on either side of her inner thighs with a piece of long cloth in between
those two cloths. Her sleeves with stay with the medieval style of the very expended

look sexy, as it is said Lovely Tamora, Queen of Goths, That like the stately Phoebe

and hence the reason why Saturninus is so quick to marry her. Once she s married
and at the courtyard for the friendly hunt, she ll be dressed in red, as she is the
reason for Lavinia s monstrous torment. Her crown will be very spiky and complex,
similar to the one shown. This, I feel, will immediately make her a person to be
feared, radiating an instant statement of power. After this scene is over, she will be in
a whiteand yellow dress for the rest of the play. This is not to show any innocence of
any kind, but in fact to show how she covers up who she really is. She is a very
manipulative person, lying left and right, and to have her wear something white will
be simultaneously a symbolic and ironic statement. Next will be Tamara s family and

Puritan Duality
In The Wonders of the Invisible World, Cotton Mather sums up Satan s goal for the
Puritan people in the New World saying that when he perceived such a people here
accomplishing the promise of old made unto our blessed Jesus, that He should
have the utmost parts of the earth for His possession (Mather 328). The biblical
beliefs in this passage reveal how Puritans saw the New World and, as a result,
decided to live according to the Bible in hopes of gaining salvation after death.
Living life in such a manner proposed a bitter struggle because while the Puritans
wanted salvation, they also considered themselves unworthy of it. The experience
produced a favorite theme of duality in Puritanliterature, which can be found in Anne
Bradstreet s poem... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flesh, is recognized as Evil for she had her eye / On worldly wealth and vanity (5
6), tries to persuade Spirit into temptation, and the poem mentions that her father
is Adam. Spirit, is considered the essence of Good for she did rear / Her thoughts
unto a higher sphere (7 8), avoids the temptation of Flesh, and is considered the
daughter of God. The Puritans want Spirit to win this eternal battle between her
and Flesh because they believed it would enable them to descend into Heaven after
death. For the Puritans, the New World offered a second chance at life and the
opportunity for the people to construct how they would live their lives. None the
less, they used the Bible as the manual to guide how the people should live their
lives according to God. They referred to it for everything that occurred in their
lives to make sense of their new surroundings. For example, in John Winthrop s
journal he wrote July 5, 1632, about the mouse who became victor of its battle with
a snake (178). The event was interpreted to be a sign from God representing a sign
of the Puritans triumphing Satan (Winthrop 178). To accomplish God s will it was
best believed to withdraw from materialistic values and live simply, which is why the
poem s narrator is crying because they could be experiencing that struggle of wanting
pleasure but not wanting to risk their

Desiree s Baby Reader Response Societal stigma and Family shape the enigma that
is identity. Desiree herself was borne by a family with no prior knowledge of her
ancestry, she existed outside of the stigma she would later face. Chopin, describing
Armand s love for Desiree, writes The passion... swept along like an avalanche, or
like a prairie fire... (Chopin). His immediate love for her, though described to be
strong, is written with a negative connotation. Chopin uses simile and this negative
connotation to immediately put a bad taste in our mouths about the love. Chopin,
describing Valmonde s perspective entering Desiree s house, writes When she reached

Chopin describes Desiree s feelings as Armand shows contempt for her black
heritage and writes, A quick conception of all that this accusation meant for her
nerved her with unwonted courage to deny it. (Chopin). To Desiree, and society at
the time, to be of African descent is clearly seen in an incredibly negative light.
The use of accusation itself conjures images of a crime. She wanted more than
anything to deny it implying it would lend itself to a downfall. Desiree living her
life happily and contently until she knew of her African descent shows clearly
how the lack of said knowledge and need for acceptance from her husband formed
her identity. In a state of crisis, Desiree is described to have not changed the thin
white garment nor the slippers which she wore as she did not take the broad,
beaten road which led to the far off plantation of Valmonde. She walked across a
deserted field, where the stubble bruised her tender feet, so delicately shod, and tore
her thin gown to shreds. (Chopin). This metaphor shows her escape from the well
beaten path of hatred for a path where she can shed her societal status and ultimately
lose the identity she had formed up to that
Cancer Is A Disease That Affects A Child s Educational...
Cancer is a disease that affects the lives of millions of people worldwide everyday,
including students in the education system. This disease is covered under IDEA, and
falls under the category of Other Health Impairments, which is defined as a medical
condition that results in limited strength, vitality, or alertness due to chronic or acute
health problems that affect a child s educational performance or ability. There are
many examples of Other Health Impairments, such as Diabetes, Tourette syndrome,
asthma and heart conditions, but childhood Canceris a common disease that affect
many children in the world (Special Education Guide, 2016). Cancer begins when
normal cells change, and begin to grow abnormally and uncontrollably. These cells
divide rapidly and destroy surrounding body tissue. In many cases, the cells join
together, forming a solid mass called a tumor. Tumors can grow, invade nearby
tissue, or break apart, allowing cancerous cells to travel to different parts of the
body. Childhood cancer begins with the same process, but can behave differently
than adult cancers, even if they begin in the same part of the body. Cancer in
children can occur anywhere in the body, including the blood and lymph node
system, the brain and other parts of the central nervous system, and the kidneys. The
most common form of childhood cancer is Leukemia, which is the cancer of the
bone marrow and blood (Cancer.net, 2014). Cancer is caused by changes in the genes

product. Many countries do not allow the practice of price fixing. They are the
United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and within the

My Out Of Class Speaker Critique Assignment
For my out of class speaker critique assignment, I chose to go and attend the public
lecture on campus by Mr. Jim Davis, the creator of the Garfield the Cat syndicated
comics. The event took place in Sursa Hall inside the Music Instruction Building, and
it lasted an hour and half long from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. This lecture occurred on
Wednesday, February 15th. In his speech, Mr. Davis talked about his youthful years,
the initial challenges he faced, the business strategies he used, and the wild adventure
he endured throughout his comical Garfieldbusiness adventures. Regarding his
desired response from the audience in his speech, Mr. Davis made it overtly clear
that he wanted the audience to listen and learn from his story. I was able to... Show

Otherwise, there seemed to be no significant or obvious distinction amongst
members. The attitudinal makeup of the audience was either neutral or positive, as
Davis and his work are most known for being lighthearted and joyful. Mr. Davis
undoubtedly considered these elements when he planned his lecture, as a large
portion of it was centered around the nostalgic feeling the Garfield comics give to the
crowd (C3). Regarding the introduction used during the lecture, I felt that it was more
than effective in its explanation of Davis by showing what he is primarily known for,
what the audience was about to witness, and by creating a favorable atmosphere for
the lecture. To gain the audience s attention, a video demonstrating Mr. Davis s
history and accomplishments was played before he began his lecture. Overall, I
thought that it was a moderately effective introduction because it reinforced the
interest of the audience, displayed the significance Davis has to the illustration
business, and presented his credibility as well known illustrator. For example, I
thought it was interesting that the administrator jokingly announced Davis as a man
too important to be talking a public lecture. On the other hand, however, I also
thought that the introduction was somewhat ineffective in that it never overviewed
what was going to be talked about in the rest of the lecture (C4). Concerning the
support used in the speech, Mr. Davis relied heavily on qualitative
Michael Joseph O’Rahilly and the 1916 Easter Rising

The role of Michael Joseph O Rahilly (also known as The O Rahilly ) in the Easter
Rising of 1916, is not much talked about, and this, in my opinion, makes it all the
more fascinating. Many would feel, that he has, in a sense, been written out of history
.
O Rahilly was a man who believed that the Irish people could not achieve
independence of the British without confrontation in an armed struggle. It was for
this reason that he joined played a large part in the foundation of the Irish Volunteers
in 1913.
Interestingly, O Rahilly refused to join the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) on the
grounds that he could not join a secret society. He was a man of very strong
principles, and felt that he could not keep an oath whereby he would ... Show more

Unknowingly, MacNeill ordered his Volunteers to stage a Rising, all over the
country, on Easter Sunday, 24th of April, 1916. When the forgery was discovered,
MacNeill instantly drew up a message, cancelling all maneuvers for the Rising, to
be distributed around the country. This however was on the Saturday night, and,
as they could not wait to publish it in the morning paper, The O Rahilly was made
a courier to deliver the message: Volunteers completely deceived. All orders for
special action are hereby cancelled... . Although O Rahilly was one of the few men
to own a car at the time, he chose to take a taxi, as his car was too well known by
the police, and he was forbidden by law from entering the counties of Kerry, Cork or
Limerick. As the message was delivered around the country, no one thought to convey
the message to James Connolly s Irish Citizen Army, in the heart of Dublin. He and
Pearse, on learning the news, decided to go ahead with a Rising on Monday in
Dublin anyway, without the Volunteers and their army of 13500 men. (Which would
have made a massive difference, considering that as it turned out, Britain had 16000
men to the Irish s 1250) O Rahilly was woken in the middle of Sunday night, by
Desmond FitzGerald and informed of the situation, his response; If my men are
determined to have a Rising, nothing will stop them .
On the Monday morning, just as Padraic Pearse was making the final preparations to

Analysis Of The Book 1776 By David Mccullough
1776 by David McCullough Book Review 1776, a non fiction historical book, is
written by two time Pulitzer Prize winner David McCullough. The book revolves
around the American Revolution, hence the title 1776, and it accurately shows the
course of actions that have taken place in that year. 1776 is displays how America
became an independent nation and what the individuals during that time had to go
through to gain access to freedom and liberty. The Continental Congress approved
the Declaration of Independence, the nation s most cherished symbol of
independence, that same year on July 4. With education systems not going in depth

country s history in one year.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, he requested for the support of the House of Lords and the House of
Commons on his position. This caused The House of Lords and the House of
Commons to go into a solemn debate and to vote in favor of the King s
Proclamation well into midnight, ending at 4 AM. Thus, the first battle began
between American and British troops. War between the Americans and the British
Empire appeared on April 19, 1775, at the battle of Lexington and Concord, near
Boston. Subsequently, the next battle took place and is commonly known as the
Battle of Bunker Hill, which occurred at Breed s Hill and Bunker Hill on June 17,
1775. Although the Battle of Bunker Hill was a victory for the British, they had one
thousand casualties that resulted from the skirmish. A few days before the Battle of
Bunker Hill, George Washingtonaccepted to be the Commander in Chief of the
Continental Army. During these months, British troops were under siege at Boston
and their food and supplies were running dangerously low. Sadly, Britain got news
from their troops in America a month or two after things had happened to them. This
was due to the fact that Britain and the American colonies were separated by the
ocean, resulting of a 3,000 mile distance.
McCullough further uses The Siege to mention significant military figures that took
part during The American Revolution. These major characters include: George
Washington, Nathanael Greene,
Robert Frost
The only thing that is constant in the world is change. As Homosapiens have
progressed from primitive hunter gatherers to the biggest apex predators on the
planet, nothing has stayed the same. Some epochs were plagued with war and famine
while others spurred immeasurable innovation. From infinitesimal events to yearlong
world wars, timehas managed to converge to this specific point in the present. Yet
technological progress in the forms of snappier smartphones and virtual reality
goggles have allowed today s inhabitants to forget about real reality and the
countless events that have shaped it. Robert Frost reminds us that time s cyclical
holds both healing and destructive properties in his eloquent poem Spring Pools.
Robert Frost was born in San Francisco on March 26, 1874. He was a farmer, a
father of six children, but important of all he was a poet. He is highly regarded for
his realistic portrayals of rural life and his mastery of American colloquial speech.
His work frequently employed scenarios of rural life in New England at the
beginning of the 20th century, using them to examine complex social and
philosophical issues. Frost was honored frequently during his lifetime, receiving four
Pulitzer prizes for poetryand even a Nobel Prize nominee in literature. He published
Spring Pools in 1929 inside a volume of poems titled West Running Brook. During
this time Frost taught English at Amherst College in Massachusetts. He called his

Rhetorical Questions In My Last Duchess By Robert
Browning
The poem My Last Duchess is a historical event that involves the Duke of Ferrara
and Alfonso who lived in the 16th century. Robert Browning My Last Duchess
presents a narrative about a recently widowed Duke who talks with an emissary had
come to an arranged marriage with another lady from a powerful and wealthy family.
In the perspective of Duke, power and wealth were integral in marriage and was
determined to be married to a wealthy lady from a famous family. As the Duke
orients the emissary through the palace, he stops and shows a portrait of the late
Duchess who was a lovely and young girl. The Duke then begins by stating
information about the picture and then to the Duchess. Duke claims that the
Duchess flirted with everyone and did not appreciate the history of the family: gift
of a nine hundred years old name. (33) However, when an individual continues to
read the poem, it is evident that the Duke played an important role in killing the
lady. Duke states that he gave commands; / Then all smiles stopped together (45 46)
he used these words to define the death of his beloved Duchess. The aim of the essay
is to analyze literary devices that emphasize the content of the poem, which includes
rhetorical questions, exclamation mark, and em dash.
Browning has used extensively rhetorical questions. Rhetorical questions are
questions that are posted in a literary work that does not need an answer: the
strategic aims of rhetorical questions are for emphasizing an issue or creating an
object. Duke indicates the aspect of misogyny through stating Will t please you sit
and look at her? I said. (5) This is not a suggestion but indicates an aspect of
command especially when he completes the state with I said. Reading the poem
shows that the Duke never appreciated women or had a negative perspective of
women, which may have contributed to the death of Duchess. The approach taken is
a form of objectification of women, which may have been right at the time but the
current society frown about it. In addition, the Duke wants the reader to sympathize
with him and he states A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad, (22) indicating
that he lacks the wording for his comments. Even though he may have contributed

  • 2. Acceptance and Denial in Alice Walker s Everyday Use Essay Mama, the protagonist in Alice Walker s short story, Everyday Use is a woman with a solid foundation and tough roots. The qualities that society would find admirable within Mama are the same qualities that Dee, Mama s oldest daughter, would spurn, thinking them only the qualities of a down home, uneducated, country bumpkin. Dee, the story s main antagonist, is proof that children are not necessarily products of their environment. From the beginning of the story we see that Mama, who describes herself as a large, big boned woman with rough, man working hands (68) has no illusions about the type of woman she is; however, she still has enough depth to dream about being reunited with her daughter Dee on television in a fantasy ... For a guest to make such a statement about a meal prepared for him in the presence of his hostess shows such a breach of etiquette that even Wangero should have reprimanded him. Wangero, however, chooses to ignore the insult and instead shows through her healthy appetite that her newfound convictions do not extend as far as the dinner table. After dinner Wangero shows the true meaning of her visit when she starts to examine different artifacts in the house and asking Mama if she can have them. Mama and Maggie show their love of the items Wangero has requested by being able to state who had made them and what they had been made of. Maggie emphasizes Wangero s lack of understandingand compassion by stating accurately that the dasher from the butter churn had been carved by Aunt Dee s first husband Henry who everyone called Stash. Wangero makes a joke of Maggie s memory (72) by saying she had the brain of an elephant. Once again Mama displays patience of astronomical proportions. To Wangero, the churn top and the dasher are items that she can use to impress her peers. They have no sentimental value and she would probably not even know how to use them. She does not need them and yet, knowing how poor her mother and sister are, she still has the gall to confiscate a valuable kitchen tool only to put them on display. Mama does not show another side to her character until Wangero tries to take the quilts that

  • 4. Amazon s Diversification Strategy Analysis Amazon s diversification strategy Diversification strategies involve broadening the scope of an organization across different products and market sectors. It requires an organization to explore new experiences and knowledge outside its existing markets and products (Business Case Studies). Strategic management is a business concept that consists of strategy analysis, creation, implementation and monitoring, used by organizations in order to achieve and maintain a competitive advantage (as cited by Jurevicius, 2013). The following parts discuss Amazon s strategy with a focus on the company s competitive advantage and its customers. Amazon s Global Strategy Amazon has been able to maintain sustainable competitive advantage because the company has adopted cost leadership, differentiation and growth strategies. Cost Leadership Low cost leadership is pursued by Amazon by differentiating itself primarily on the basis of price. Amazon s goal is to become customer centric, aiming to offer a wide range of products with lower prices and convenience to its customers. It can be seen that the company believes offering low prices and focusing on customers are fundamental to Amazon s success. Over the time, Amazon seeks to mitigate the costs in order to lower the prices through achieving higher sales volumes. The company also finds many ways to negotiate to obtain better terms with their suppliers, and achieving better operating efficiencies. Amazon always ensures that they maintain

According to NASA s article About The Hubble Space Telescope, It was just slightly the wrong shape, causing the light that bounced off the center of the mirror to focus in a different place than the light bouncing off the edge. The tiny flaw about 1/50th the thickness of a sheet of paper was enough to distort the view. Fortunately the telescope had been built with interchangeable parts. So the astronomers were able to fix it and continue using the telescope to collect
  • 6. Physical And Treatment Of Physical Therapy Physical Therapy is one of the most important medical health related fields out there. Physical Therapists play a crucial role in their patient s overall health. However, the main goals of a Physical Therapist is to aid in recovery, rehab, increase range of motion, and reduce pain for their patients. During a normal work day, they will typically see a variety of patients whose age can range from an eight year old to an 85 year old, and each one with a challenging and unique health issue. These issues can be anything from a post surgical athlete trying to get back on the playing field to a 65 year old grandma who has hip and knee problems and needs exercises to strengthen those areas. In order for their patients to strengthen or rehabilitate a certain area, a treatment plan needs to be developed. Here, PT s select exercises, stretches, and other techniques which they think will help their patient s recovery process and get them back to normal. Therefore, treatment plans are one of the most important aspects of the job description. Although these Physical Therapists are medical professionals, they cannot include everything in their treatment plans. For example, they cannot perform surgery or give prescription medications because they are not technically specialized or fully qualified to do so. But instead, they can recommend their patient s to a doctor who can perform surgery on them or suggest a medication a Physician can prescribe to them. Typically, Physical Therapists

Internet Dating Being brought up in a traditional family, where my parents will be married forty nine years next year, it is hard for me to understand married people going frequenting online dating sites. I now realize after Googling married people online dating that married people using online dating services is not only a very common practice, there appear to be online dating servicethat target married people looking for a date or more. Many married people are finding the temptation of online dating irritable. On e website is stating that 150,000 married people join online dating sites each month and these sites are doing there best to increase their member enrollment. What is it that makes these sites so attractive? Experts say it is the anonymity of it all. Online you can be anybody you want, you can be any age and you can look like anyone that you desire. In other words, you can leave your true self behind and exist in a fantasy world for the time being. This fantasy world is very appealing to a person that may be bored or experiencing problems in their real life relationship. Married online dating is a way of leaving those problems behind, at least for the time being. You do not have to sneak out and go to hotel. You perfect date is as close as your mouse and in most cases, online dating is relatively easy to conceal, at least for a short time. Most people who participate in online dating do not consider it cheating, because there was no touching involved. I guess it all depends

The first reason I don t think it would violate the transparent culture is because I am not an employee yet and secondly sometimes there are things that shouldn t be mentioned. Maybe by being truthful I would be able to get the job. 1 19 The news article would affect whether I would accept the job offer or not. Cons: jobs are lost, pay cut demands, exploit tax havens, the risk of our technologies to being copied or stolen, and exploitation of labor. 1 22 I think Apple was justified in drawing the observations and conclusions expressed. If Apple found that through Globalization they get better quality products, then they should express their findings. I think it wasn t harmful that Apple voiced their opinions. I think it would be helpful for the United Sates. If the US takes action in trying to develop more motivated and adaptable citizens, then we would be better off economically and our productivity would increase. 1 22 Managers could use this as a leverage to have businesses bring their production to the United Sates. I would recommend finding ways to motivate my employees and develop their ability to adapt to bring a more diligent and flexible workforce. 1. Case: Era of the Disposable

How does Randall Jarrell use the imagery in Durer s engraving of the knight, the devil and death to symbolically convey a philosophy of life using powerful poetic devices? The knight, Death and the Devil poem written by Randall Jarrell, based on the engraving by German artist Albert Durer depicting a valiant knight, on horseback treading along the path of life. A path beset on all sides by many obstacles, and the dark forces ranged against the knight in his journey. His being accuses him yet his face is firm The alliteration of face and firm exaggerates the strength of the Knight, to reinforce the meaning of his power in the reader s mind. In resolution, in absolute persistence The folds of smiling do for steadiness The face is its own fate a man does what he must And the body underneath it says I am. Randall Jarrell includes another allegory to explain how the Knight kept a steady state of mind to strengthen the body to not display his real feelings in his soul. His look completed him, and determining his own fate by forcing a straight face. Imagery has been used historically to convey morality. Jarrell is using imagery in a similar way to reinforce and decorate the poem in a profound way by contrasting the robust and valiant figure of the Knight onto everything that we come

  • 20. Beautiful Men And Women In Greco-Greek Mythology Throughout mythology, there are various stories of infidelity, sexual assault, sexual orientation, and other forms of deviance. However, this was never questioned throughout the literature, a character was never discriminated for cheating on his /her spouse, being with the same sex, or for taking advantage of another individual. In this paper, I plan to discuss certain examples where these incidents took place and why was it okay for the incidents to occur. Beautiful men and women are described in great detail throughout Greco Roman mythology. Women were typically depicted as having a tiny waist, full breasts, long hair and full hips. While men are seen as tall, lean, muscular, with a great head of hair and often a thick beard. Genders were either very feminized or masculinized, and gender roles were very prominent during this time as well. Zeusis one of the primary examples of adultery in mythology. He is married to Hera, Queen of the gods and goddess of marriage. Despite of Zeus s marriage, he had multiple other relationships with various characters. It was very common for Zeus to transform into an eagle, bull, or another creature and then capture his young prey. Zeus s sexual orientation is very versatile throughout mythology, however he showed preference to female sexuality. Zeus raped Leda, daughter of the Aetolian king, Thestius, in the guise of a swan; raped Danae, a princess of Argos, disguised as the rain, and raped Ganymede, a male mortal. Adultery is also a

In the social mirror, it was stated that seeing our own selves is like facing the crazy mirror room in the carnival. Our reactions are based on the opinions, perceptions, and the paradigm of others about us. But self awareness enables us to stand apart and examine even the way we see ourselves our self paradigm, the most fundamental paradigm of effectiveness. It affects not only our attitudes and behavior, but also how we see other people. There are three social maps or three theories of determinism widely accepted, independently or ... Our response to what happened to us affects us more than what actually happened. We can choose to use difficult situations to build our character and develop the ability to better handle such situations in the future. Being proactive means assessing the situation and developing a positive response for it. We should expand our Circle of Influences not reduce it and focus on expanding our Circle of Concerns because proactive people do focus their efforts in the Circle of Influences. The issue in that case is that the new store would be located in an area which saw far fewer Filipinos than in the previous areas and, as a result, would have to depend on locals. Appealing to the locals had however proven to be very difficult in Hong Kong. Several factors may explain this failure: В•Jollibee had been unable to hire

The jury is to decide if an 18 year of boy is guilty of first degree murder. If he is found guilty is will be sent to the chair. In the movie 12 Angry Men the actor playing Mr. Davis used his morals of finding the truth, kindness, and the belief that every life matters to make the jury study the details of the case. Finding the truth of what happened on the night of the murder is critical to Mr. Davis. First, he forces the jury to look at the murder weapon. It is a switch knife with a pattern on the handle. According to the store owner he sold a knife just like it to the 18 year old boy and he has very seen another one like it, yet when Mr. Davis goes to the same store he finds and buys a switch knife identical to the murder weapon. Knowing this there is a chance that that someone other than the boy has committed the murder. It is agreed upon by jury that an L train with 6 cars would take 10 second to pass by. Mr. Davis does not stop their though. He asks if anyone has ever lived by the L tracks and no one has but him. Mr. Davis states When the L train goes by its so loud you can barely hear yourself think. Soon another member of the jury says that he was painting a building by the L tracks and when it

  • 42. Pollution Of The Ocean Pollution So many things are taken for granted in this world. Visiting places like the Dominican Republic and Hawaii is exciting and beautiful. They are a serene and relaxing place to be, but this beauty is in jeopardy. Pollution of the ocean causes these exotic beaches to become unpleasing to the senses. The pollutionof the ocean problem goes much deeper than just looking unpleasant. From sea life to the environmental impacts, pollution in the ocean is an immediate and growing problem that must be addressed. Pollution of the ocean is widely seen all around. The litter comes in so many very different forms that are almost terrifying. It ranges from a cigarette to a 4,000 pound fishing net (Franc, 2013). Medical waste such as needles were even noticed in New York and New Jersey in 1988. The world s merchant shipping fleet in 1975 was blamed for 85% of 14 billion pounds of garbage dumped into the sea (Amaral, n.d.). Out of all of the garbage and waste in the ocean it is said that more than 80% of the garbage in the ocean comes from land alone (Mosbergen, 2017). In just one hour, nine minutes, and 44 seconds, a very large number of 2,877,783 pounds of plastic has entered the ocean (Leeson Elliot, 2016). Today after all of the dumping that goes on there are over 25 trillion pieces of plastic inside of the ocean. While that is a large number, only 269,000 tons can be seen afloat the water ( Ocean Pollution: 14 Facts that will Blow Your Mind, 2017). The easier way of explaining just how much waste enters our ocean would be just to say too much, but to be exact, in 2007 2.12 billion tons of garbage enter the ocean and just three years later in 2010, 215 million metric tons of plastic entered the ocean (Lonne, 2016). In 2006 the United Nations Environment Program did an experiment on how much plastic there was every square mile of the ocean. They ended up estimating about 46,000 pieces of plastic every square mile ( Facts and Figures on Marine Pollution, 2017). In the Northern Pacific Ocean lies the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. It is said to be about seven million square miles ( Marine Debris Impacts, n.d.). Plastic accounts for about 70% of all the litter in the ocean and can take a very short time or a very long time
  • 43. Keurig Dope The innovative pods called k cups have turned the world of coffee brewing upside down. A company called Keurig began making and selling high quality coffee makers in 1992. Six years later, they developed a coffee brewer that would brew one superior cup of coffee at a time. The little pods of coffee or tea that would be placed inside the innovative coffeemakers were called Keurig cups, which became k cups. The key concepts behind k cups are controlled brewing and variety. The amount of finely ground coffee and tea inside the pods is portioned very precisely. Controlling how much premium coffee or tea is in the pod is a way of determining the taste of the final product. The k cups developed for a Keurig Coffee Maker are perfect for offices. This is how a portion of American citizens perceive immigrants, and as the 2016 Presidential election gets closer the word immigration gets treated more delicately as if it were a new phenomenon. However, immigration is no new or delicate subject for New York City. In fact, residents (like in Queens) find it odd if a New Yorker isn t of hybrid generation (Eichenbaum, Tour). The history of New York City has been painted by the millions and millions of immigrants that have touched its land. It s a cycle: one group of immigrants come, stay, and leave while another new group of immigrants settle down. This continuous sequence is what makes New York City such an innovative city when it comes to immigrants. The Statue of Liberty in the early 19th century Countless individuals connect the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island to immigration in the early history of New York/nation. However, we have records of immigrants long before 1886, when the Statue of Liberty was placed. The first of these immigrant settlers were primarily the Dutch, whose control was supplanted by the British in 1664 (Haberstroh, Web). Not until the mid 19th century did New York City see immigrants settling in great numbers. One of the earliest immigrant populations to settle on the Lower East Side in masse were the Germans. The biblical beliefs in this passage reveal how Puritans saw the New World and, as a result, decided to live according to the Bible in hopes of gaining salvation after death. Living life in such a manner proposed a bitter struggle because while the Puritans wanted salvation, they also considered themselves unworthy of it. Chopin describes Desiree s feelings as Armand shows contempt for her black heritage and writes, A quick conception of all that this accusation meant for her nerved her with unwonted courage to deny it. (Chopin). To Desiree, and society at the time, to be of African descent is clearly seen in an incredibly negative light. The use of accusation itself conjures images of a crime. She wanted more than anything to deny it implying it would lend itself to a downfall. Desiree living her life happily and contently until she knew of her African descent shows clearly how the lack of said knowledge and need for acceptance from her husband formed her identity. In a state of crisis, Desiree is described to have not changed the thin white garment nor the slippers which she wore as she did not take the broad, beaten road which led to the far off plantation of Valmonde. She walked across a deserted field, where the stubble bruised her tender feet, so delicately shod, and tore her thin gown to shreds. (Chopin). Overall, I thought that it was a moderately effective introduction because it reinforced the interest of the audience, displayed the significance Davis has to the illustration business, and presented his credibility as well known illustrator. For example, I thought it was interesting that the administrator jokingly announced Davis as a man too important to be talking a public lecture. On the other hand, however, I also thought that the introduction was somewhat ineffective in that it never overviewed what was going to be talked about in the rest of the lecture (C4). Robert Browning My Last Duchess presents a narrative about a recently widowed Duke who talks with an emissary had come to an arranged marriage with another lady from a powerful and wealthy family. In the perspective of Duke, power and wealth were integral in marriage and was determined to be married to a wealthy lady from a famous family. As the Duke orients the emissary through the palace, he stops and shows a portrait of the late Duchess who was a lovely and young girl. The Duke then begins by stating information about the picture and then to the Duchess. Duke claims that the Duchess flirted with everyone and did not appreciate the history of the family: gift of a nine hundred years old name. (33) However, when an individual continues to read the poem, it is evident that the Duke played an important role in killing the lady. Duke states that he gave commands; / Then all smiles stopped together (45 46) he used these words to define the death of his beloved Duchess. The aim of the essay is to analyze literary devices that emphasize the content of the poem, which includes rhetorical questions, exclamation mark, and em dash. Browning has used extensively rhetorical questions. Rhetorical questions are questions that are posted in a literary work that does not need an answer: the strategic aims of rhetorical questions are for emphasizing an issue or creating an object. Duke indicates the aspect of misogyny through stating Will t please you sit and look at her? I said. (5) This is not a suggestion but indicates an aspect of command especially when he completes the state with I said. Reading the poem shows that the Duke never appreciated women or had a negative perspective of women, which may have contributed to the death of Duchess. The approach taken is a form of objectification of women, which may have been right at the time but the current society frown about it. In addition, the Duke wants the reader to sympathize with him and he states A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad, (22) indicating that he lacks the wording for his comments.
